You disengage your strikers and softly pad towards the sleeping girl.
Sitting down beside her, you wipe away the still warm tears.

She's been through a lot, that much you can tell just by the way she's frowning in her sleep.
"Hayate..." She calls out.
"Yes Nanoha?" you answer the dreamer.
"Hayate... I miss you.. I wish you were here..."
she continues to sleep talk.
"I am here..." you say softly as you bent down to give her a kiss on the forehead.
"Don't worry anymore."

Her eyes flutter open and look at you.
Unsure if she was still dreaming, she reaches out and touches your face.
"Y-you... W-why?"
"I've come to take you home."

New tears form as she jumps up to hug you.

Alright MSQ, what resources do we have in our item chest?
>>
So, Landing Gear, how does it feel to know that you've got 25 upvotes and 27 downvotes on your last thread? You've got the attention of the majority of the board, and it seems it's an even split between those who want to suck your cock, and those who want to cut it off.

"Why are you here? How?" She asks as she tightens her hold on you, afraid that you'll fade back into her dreams if she did.
"I volunteered. Who better to take you home than me?" you smile as you ignore your ribs creaking under the pressure.
"I... I... I missed you soo much!" She continues to cry, into your shoulder.
"I missed you too, Nano."

You held her there for what seemed like hours, her tears happily flowing non-stop.
After about 30 minutes real-time, she finally calms, convinced that you were indeed really there, and just holds you.
"So Nano... How are you?" you ask her.
"Vita ate all the cookies. :<" she pouts
"Ahaha. Don't worry, I brought some just now... wait, crap, I left them with her."
"I hope she leaves some for me."
"So, youve been here for a month too long? What happened?"
"Mister Osmond tried contacting them the day after we were supposed to go home but he couldn't... Even our Devices lost contact with the Bureau.."
"Vita says you've been spending far too much time alone here, why didn't you stay with your friends?"
"It's... It's embarrassing if they saw me cry..."
"Yeah, but don't you think they feel bad that you're all alone out here? I know Vita does."
"I... I know. I want to apologize to them. And Fate-chan too."

Again, as far as I can tell, plot progression and anything else is secondary compared to macking on hot anime ladies.

Along with that, any plot progression and any one plot could have been wrapped up possibly 100 threads ago. After that, Landing Gear could have made another quest for this sort of thing.

Instead, we have the longrunner of all longrunners, and most people come to the consensus that it's mediocre at best, and absolute shit GOD WHY DOES THIS EVEN EXIST 10/10 I MAD at worst.

The other guy is ALSO fed up with your bullshit, and he at least has a decent argument backing his complaints up.

Riiiiight, I'm the attention whore... not the guy who felt the need to drag this quest out over a hundred fucking posts, as well as go out of his way to talk shit on his twitter and use suptg's tagging system to bitch about his detractors because he's too much of a pussy to actually discuss what a terrible human being he is.
>>
>>20215041
Well that depends on the plot. Not only that, but you're saying that the plot progression should be forced to occur, railroading in other words. One of the most hated acts of a DM on /tg/.

Look at Meta Quest, for example. Over 90 threads, and they're still working on the initial problem and plot point which was given to them in the first thread. But there's still plot progression there.
>>

>>
>>20215041
Well there is a plot but the players drive it towards "mackin on anime ladies" LG allows this because it is what the players want and he gets his plot done anyway.

What time isn't dropped on wasted pursuits of waifu's is derailed because the players want to become ever more of a munchkin and break the system so they ignore plot points and go looking for loot, LG doesn't care because honestly he does this thread and then ignores tg for the rest of his day and all the butthurt caused by it just makes him more inclined to keep going

The people who don't follow it hate it because they see it as taking up precious space on the holy front page which should be inviolate of things not 40k and the other supposed QM's hate it because it has run longer, been consistently popular amongst it's fanbase and ignored all attempts as being removed.

The only real issue it gave rise to is that due to it's success every asshole with an idea tried to make a quest and most failed due to trolling and cries of "not more shitty quests"

In short, it doesn't matter that much and if you don't like it then you can easily ignore it, many autists who browse tg cannot comprehend this and so they cry about it further reducing the quality of the bord.

"Hey, Why don't we go check-out.. I mean.. report to Fate first?" you tell Nanoha.
"But.. the cookies..."
"I'm sure Vita will leave some for you, and I can always make some more back home."
"Okay... Follow me, I'll take you to Fate-chan's office."

She leads you inside the central tower and down into it's basement.
On the way, Nanoha explains to you that this place was an academy for magic.
The users, with no access to Devices, use an archaic form of majaik that drew power directly from themselves and that was not as flexible as Bureau majaik.

"Here's Fate-chan's office." She tells you as you stop at a simple wooden door.

That isn't the fault of this thread, it is people's perceptions being closed. While it may have an effect there are many quests that are just as bad and have just as bad a following but this is more visible, just as there may be many better ones that get ignored because the perception is that they are all as bad as X, Y, Z quest.

In the end though most people with more than two brain cells judge something based on their own criteria rather than listening to screaming aspies on the internet so the ones that you lose from the reputation of quest threads are the ones who likely would not have been interested in the first place

I'm not going to lie, after a point I just start writing. This may or may not make any sense.

>>20215135
After a point? Yeah, it makes the story stagnant. I'm not saying to force everyone to go at mach speed, but if we're being objective here, what you're describing is essentially all of Bleach's filler arcs inbetween the time Rukia is in the town and the time Rukia is rescued from the Soul Society. A story can only live off of side chapters for so long, at some point people have to do shit besides mack on hot animu babes.

>>20215168
A story also shouldn't spend so much time trying to break its system.

Especially if it's an actual /story/. Granted, quests aren't total stories, but they are more closely related to novels than most other things on this board.

I hate it because it seems unentertaining and stagnant, and it also gives everyone else a bad name. Like it or not, the loud annoying child takes up more attention than the quiet ones, no matter if they're good kids or bad ones. People try not to form biases against things they see, but it's innately human to be biased against things you don't know/understand.

>>20215300
If you find something you dislike, do you often make an attempt to look further into it? Odds are you don't, and you just attempt to ignore the entire genre/generic vague undefined thing. That's often what happens, and probably the thinking process of the anti-quest quest guy.

There, facing away from you, reading a scroll by lamp-light was a blonde woman.

She asks as she swivels around and puts the scroll away.
"Yes ma'am, Ayasaki Hayate. I've come to take the girls home."

I disagree. We're not here to be a story, we're here to be a game, like any other PnP game. And so, we'll go on sidequests. We'll go and do our own pet projects. If we are forced to get on rails then we will do everything we can to get off of them. That's what players do.
If we wanted a story with with unchanging rails, then we'd read a novel or play a video game RPG that has only a limited range of options.

I don't ignore entire genres based on one work, anyone who does isn't the sort of person who generally would be interested in anything traditional gaming because the quality of them varies wildly

LG also works at getting his story done around the players trying to break the system so that no railroading occurs, it is a hard balance and he often goes with things he can twist for amusement or because he thinks it is funny which means plans get derailed and plot progression happens much slower than intended.

The analogy you used is a good one but because this and TG quest are being run on a more consistent timescale and having the players handle the various things that come up we are stuck in a sort of constant DBZ time effect where while we are working towards the solutions we are stopping at every fight along the way for a couple of episodes.

This is largely because the fans of those are interested in doing it that way as is the QM

that's a bad analogy for what's going on here. As far as I can tell, we keep to ourselves on this board. when people are talking about MSQ in other threads, its the haters and people in other quests who think we're liable to rub off on them if they make certain choices. we stay on the front page because that's what happens when a thread gets bumped, but so does every other quest thread. there's plenty of room on this board for all of us, and if people choose not to play in other quests because 'oh no it might be like MSQ' then they're fucking retards who don't know how to judge something on its own merit.

Blame Fireman Prime, not Metaquest. He's the one who started the Editor setting in the first place.

And SWQ did influence it far more.

>>20216619
His line of reasoning seemed to be that MetaQuest made the editors setting more widely known and influenced another quest in the setting

If you want to start with that shit though you can start blaming papa n for making quests popular again or weaver for starting the whole thing

You stop time and approach the old man.
You watch incredulously as he takes a puff of his pipe like everything was normal.
"Cute trick." He remarks as he blows some smoke.
"Thank you sir. Mike sends his regards." you pull out the small bag and hand it to him, it disappears into the folds of his robes.

You walk back to your place beside Nanoha and restart time.
"Yes sir," you say as if nothing was amiss, "I brought the paperwork with me."
"Good, good, young man. Just leave it on my desk and I'll get around to signing it later."

>someone obviously hasn't gotten to high-school math.

Infinity is a mathematical construct that is separate from 'finite but arbitrarily large'. For example solve the equation y=1/x.

I'll give you a minute.

When you're done you should receive not one but two infinite solutions, both adjacent to the value of zero. These are valid solutions, and if you manage to get to college level math you will see how equations with infinite solutions are used in building pretty much everything.

no, those are the asymptotes. They are places where the limit as x approaches a number is infinite.
or in formal language for any number N there exists a d such that f(x)>N for all values of x<0+d. er, damn it's hard to write that without a math program.

this is one of the ways that the term 'infinity' and infinite are used in math. Set theory being another one, in which there are various levels of infinity.

"I see.. I see... Well, don't let me keep you from doing such. Just make sure to go to the diningroom for lunch. I shall have a banquet prepared in your honor."
"You are too kind sir."
"Nonsense! I am not kind at all."
he turns his back to you and goes back to his desk, ending the conversation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Nanoha, now having you all to herself, proceeds to give you the tour.
She first shows you the central tower, the one where classes were held and where the administration of the academy held office.

After introducing you to some of the teachers, she herds you across the grounds towards one of the side towers.
"This is where some of the other classrooms are, also, the diningroom and kitchens."
She takes you into the kitchens and introduces you to the staff.
There, you meet a maid that, by one look, you deduce to have some Japanese heritage.
"This is Siesta. She makes the best sandwiches."
"Hello, I'm Ayasaki Hayate."
"Ayasaki? Your name sounds like Saito-san's" She comments. "do you come from the same place?"
"Possibly, if he's from Japan then his name would sound Japanese."
"Ah yes, Japan. My grandfather was also from there..."
"I see, that's why you had such lovely Japanese features."
"Ehehe... Thanks..."
Nanoha, not liking where this seemed to be going drags you out of the kitchen and out into the grounds.

I may be a bit late, but the point the guy was trying to get across is that the formula y = 1/x is proof infinity exists in higher-order maths and theoretical physics.

If you put 0 in x's place, you get y = 1/0, which makes the answer the inverse to no value, which is an infinite value. If you put 0 in y's place, it makes 1/x = 0, suggesting that you divided by an infinite value, as any finite value would leave you with at least a little.

Algebraically swapping the formula around gives x*y = 1, which makes a completely different formula, and is fine and accepts all values apart from 0, because then the sign that represents 0 does not exist in that formula.

I had a major maths exam today, so I'm just coming down from it.
>>
>>20217127
Then the equation is undefined and can't be plotted. The term for something like that is 'approaches infinity.'

She tells you, still unsure how to handle this emotion they call jealousy.

She pulls you along into the dorms. The female dorms, to be exact.
And again, the tenants eyes are on you.
"Uhhh Nano..."
"it's okay... It's okay, You're a guest~!"
She pulls you up and up until you arrive at a common room near the top.

There, seated around on comfortable chairs, you see Madoka and some other girls talking.
"Hayate-san!" Madoka says happily as she sees you walk in.
"Hello Madoka... Been doing well?"
"Yeah."

"Hey.. Nanoha..." Says a red haired, brown skinned beauty. "Introduce us to your friend."
"This is my boyfriend, Hayate." she answers.
"HAyate, that's Kirche," she nods towards the redhead. "that's Tabitha" a girl in the corner you could have sworn was Yuki,
"That's Montmorency," A blonde, "and that's Louise." a girl with pink hair.

As the redhead gave you leers, and the blonde gave you appraising looks, the pink-haired one gave you a look that basically said "you are beneath me."

Ignoring all this, you just continue standing there smiling vapidly.
