Guess what time it is? Time for old ladies with out-dated Armoured Magitech-Legs!

You are Colonel Katherine Kent, veteran of the Great War, and accompanied by Lieutenant Lita Ilomaki, Lieutenant Ema Tarczayn and an entire host of pants wearing special forces, you have assaulted a Martian Dreadnought to rescue a witch in Martian captivity.

After dropping in like a brick through a window, you've already killed your rescuee, or at least her likeness at least three times since breaching the ship, and even finding one that didn't shoot at you first. Even despite her apparent willingness to help, things are getting way too crazy for you.

Another sudden shift in the ship's direction snaps you back into reality, forcing you to change your footing to avoid falling on your ass. A few of the men accompanying you fall, some getting only light scrapes , and some getting a bit concussed. Your fellow witches, the Russian look alike included, remain unscathed.

Current Group:
You - Col Katherine Kent
Lt Lita Ilomaki - Stug - witch
Lieutenant Ema Tarczayn - Hungarian Assault witch
Captured Russian witch who's name I have long since forgoten
30+ British Para's, German Para Engineers and a lot of Soviet Assault Sappers

You sigh, knowing whatever the hell that means that it can't be good. Deciding with your retinue, you figure that the best plan of action is to get the Russian to help you find the other Russian. While signing, you can't help but noticing the Finn glaring daggers at the clone.

Before you go on your way, a German officer calls you.

"Hexekommandant, my men cannot effectively fight dhese... Copies. I suggest dhat us infantry secure our escape vhile you and your hexe go on deeper."

We witches can handle it from here." You say, turning to face him. He snaps a salute at your response when you notice that his uniform is caked in blood, and his arm covered in bandages.

"Ve shall make sure dhat dhe vay out is klear for you and your girls." He says, before returning to his men to inform them of their new objective. You see many sigh in relief, knowing they will have to fight less of those bloody Russians.

[Can you get me to your mother] you sign to the cloned witch as she gets up off the ground.

[I think] she replies as she slings her rifle with her off hand. As you walk down a nearby hallway (After prying the doors apart), you finally get a good look at your new ally. Standing at just over 5ft wearing a all black skintight body suit. Resting on her hip is one of those thick blades that you have seen the other 'clones' carry, as well as the long boxy rifle she holds in her hands. With pale white skin, black hair and lack of any fat on her body, she could be a model, but you doubt that command would let her live once she left this ship.

She directs you down a hallway, this time, with actual lighting. Before your eye's even adjust to the bright lighting, you are overwhelmed by a metallic smell in the air. It's so strong you can taste it. Coughing a few times from the onslaught, You see a few crumpled masses in the hallways, no more then a half-dozen, but it is too difficult to make out what they are from way back here. The floor has been painted in a mix of dark purple and red. While Ilomaki starts dry heaving, Tarczay strides though, stepping over to a martian corpse, giving it a gentle 'kick'. The sound you hear following this kick is akin to crushing grapes between your fingers.

"Please for the love of god don't do that again!" Ilomaki cries "I don't want to see my lunch!"

You advance through the carnage, careful not to step on anything solid lest your Finn becomes ill. This lasts for a solid 60ft, until you find yourself at a set of thick blast doors.

"W-what do we do now?" Ilomäki whispers, fear creeping into the veteran's voice, something that is unsettling.

Tarczay cracks her knuckles. "Watch this." She says, channeling magic around her fists while digging her fingers into the alien alloy as if it was warm butter. As she readjusts her footing, you can hear the door groan from the stress the Hun is exerting upon it. With a sudden headbutt, the door breaks free from the surrounding superstructure. The young witch gives it a swift kick, causing it to tumble over like a freshly cut tree.

While standing in awe of the young witch, you are lit up by a sudden volley of maser fire. The Hun's shields take the majority of it, with a few piecing through, skimming her small frame. On what feels to be instinct, you lob a 290mm spigot mortar round like a grenade down the hallway, but landing a few feet short of your target. The enemy fire slows down as you muster all your magic into your shields, stepping in front of your group.

You regain consciousness a few seconds later.

You instantly regret using a fucking 290mm HE mortar round built for taking out fortifications as a god damn hand grenade. You landed on your ass, with Lita on top of you, hands half up your breastplate. Before you try to question how she got her hands up there while knocked out, you stand up to take stock of the situation, her hands sliding out as you get upright.

As you blink a few times to wipe the blurriness from your eyes, you come to realize that you are no longer under fire. What lies before you is something you never expected. You see a 20ft crater centered on the spot where the 290 landed. The martians firing on you simply no longer existed. The decking a few feet ahead of you drops down leading to another hallways as do the left and right edges of the blast site.

You get your three witches to their feet.

[So which way?] Sokolov asks, removing a piece of shrapnel from her chest with her other hand.

You try to go straight, but as you go to jump you realize you soul is bound by gravity, and you fall through the hole in the floor, down to the deck below you. Your witches follow suit.

[Forward. 100 units.] Sokolov signs, drawing her rifle. [Expect enemies]

Thumbing the safety for your 57mm witch rifle, you slowly march down the well lit hallway. The door at the end of the hall opens with a slight hiss, as yet another black suited Russian witch steps though... Her upper torso turns into a red misty cloud as you work the bolt. More appear and try to close the distance, both in a semi-hunched run.

You hear the crack of the two other tank witches gun's as they fire behind you. Sokolov engages one of the clones in front of you with her rifle, masers streaking into the copy's midsection. The other one lunges at you with her long blade, ready to slap your shit.

The copycat is a lot more agile then you give her credit for, but not fast enough. You connect the butt of your rifle into her face, crunching her facemeats. She crumples onto the floor in a bloody mess and you fire though the hip of the clone trying to knife your Russian. Seeing that those girls have been dealt with, you see a terrifying sight. Three of them are locked in CQC with your witches, threatening to overpower them.

You fire a round out skimming the Finn's long silvery hair, landing in the face of one of the assaulters. The Hun leans back, throwing a clone who was leaning into her blade tumbling over the witch, and right into your bayonet. The last clone suddenly looks very disinterested in fighting and goes to break off, only to get a half dozen maser rounds into the back.

"T-thanks." Lita says, trying to catch her breath. "I ca-can't wait to get off this boat.."

"Me too." the Hun replies.

You continue down until you find a door with some Alien runes flanking it.

You bust down the door and find the most heart wrenching thing in existence. You find Natalya sitting on what is akin to a Martian recliner, with a bunch of tubes and whatnot leading to and from her poor broken body. It looks like she is on the verge of death, and it is very doubtful that you will be able to remove her from the chair without killing her. Lita draws her sidearm and puts a round into the pair of Martians in the room, no doubt non-combat medics or something.

Being a 45 year old witch has it's perks. You get to hang around with pretty witches who look up to you and respect you. You get to shoot bad guys any time you want. You get to see young girls fighting in their underwear. But best of all, having access magic that few know exists. You channel whats left of your magic though your fluffy familiar and into your frail comrade.

Hoping this will keep her from dying, you gently remove her from her throne, tubes getting pulled out with audible pops.

[Escape this way.]

You take the Russian's advice and make like a tree and get the fuck out of there. You find a row of circular blast doors, no doubt leading to some kind of escape vehicle. Several explosions rock the deck beneath you feet.

You look around and account for most of the people you landed with, light casualties for such a high risk mission. You give the Russian girl to a Russian sapper as you open one of the circular doors and climb into the cylinder. There are harasses lining the inside, which you promptly slide into. Everyone else piles in, and once the circular door seals itself, a loud thump pushes the cylinder from it's berth, letting you get dragged in by earth's gravity.

National Special Rules

Advanced Aliens
The Martians are not only alien in form and technology, their very thoughts are alien to the humans who encounter them. Their strange weapons, advanced technology, and tactics rattle enemy combatants. They do not doubt their ultimate victory, nor should they.
All Martians are Arrogant (2+ Motivation) Advanced (2+ Skill Test, 5+ Score to Hit, Witches ignore this rule).

Psychological Operations
The Martians are adept at undermining the confidence of their enemies. They frequently use ultrasonic and subliminal projectors to add to the effect of their strangeness and their technological superiority.
All opponents add +1 to the score needed for Motivation tests. Witches Ignore this Rule

Maser
A bright beam of hissing, popping white light reaches out to incinerate human and steel.
When an opponent team is hit with a Maser weapon, Count Bail Out results as Destroyed. Passengers are automatically Destroyed (no Passenger Save) when their Vehicles are Destroyed. Infantry automatically fail their Infantry save unless they are in bulletproof cover.

Flames of War rules for Strike Witches.

Flames of War is a 15mm wargame based in WW2.
>>
>>20275010
Possible to play without spending fortunes?
>>
>>20275124

To a degree. It's cheaper than 40k by a fair margin, not as cheap as a skirmish game.

$200'd get you a very decently sized core force. 80 for the starter company, say 60 for assorted special weapon platoons, 40 for a box of big AT guns, and 60 for a box of tanks. That'd probably be close to 1500 points. Same amount of money should easily get you a full sized tank army.

Of course that's just official miniatures. There's a lot of stuff coming out nowdays that's a lot cheaper, particularly tanks.
>>
>>20275346
Is it easy to jew it up with home-made proxies and such?
>>
>>20275355

Probably.

Like I said, it's WW2. There's probably at least one company out there that makes cheap 15mm WW2 soldiers. Just maybe.

Home made stuff might be a bit harder, it's based around little bases with 4 infantry on each. Tanks are a lot easier, obviously. 20 per side and say, 4-6 artillery pieces, with maybe a small brace of halftracks would be quite a large tank force, and there's plenty you could proxy them with.

The starter boxes are really good. I got my Fallschirmjäger starter for about $80 AUD, and that has the command section and 2 full sized platoons, which is about 600 points worth of guys. Adding 4 PAK40s, 2 8.8s, 4 mgs, 4 little mortars, 1 more platoon, and 6 nebelwerfers is my full sized Fallschirmjager company.

It's easy to start smaller though, I just reduce the size of every platoon.

It's a pretty standard company sized miniature game, really.

Remember that the figures don't go out of date, and can get used indefinitely. The scenarios and missions keep things fresh, even with the same army.

Having said that, $200 for a decent army is pretty average for that style of game, TBH. Might be able to grab an army cheap of ebay.

I know Plastic Soldier are doing cheap tank kits, 30 or so for 5 tanks, and that'll add up quickly to a full company.
