The year is 2183, a few hours have passed since a massive assault on the Citadel by Geth Forces left the galaxy in shock. While the aftermath is still being sorted through you know this will change everything. It's a terrifying time in tne galaxy, the status quo has been challenged.

You've been watching the story unfold on the Alliance News Network for the better part of an hour. There's a knock at the door.

"Come in", you yell towards the door.

A huge Krogan leans to get through the door of the tiny human dwelling.

"Good to see you, Oolot. Take a seat, just watching the news, Switch should be along shortly."

Oolot Rox is big even by Krogan standards, strangely this has resulted in a level timidity rarely seen in Krogans. You've been through a lot together and while slow to anger you've seen him break people with his bare hands if they hurt the things he cares about.

"Hmmm, I would have thought the council would have been better prepared for this..." Oolot says, filling to loveseat as he sits down.

"You'd think..." you mutter taking a drink

"So, what new information is coming in?" Oolot says leaning back, the loveseat groaning under his weight.

[] The council is dead, the Destiny Ascension was destroyed trying to get them off the Citadel
[] The Alliance swooped in with the 5th fleet, they took a lot of casualities but they Council is safe.
[] Don't know, haven't really been paying much attention

Well, that's two votes. Want a tie-breaker before we get rolling.
This will set a lot of the tone for how people treat you, it's not a decision to be made lightly.

Also if you wanna start brainstorming character ideas.

With 3 to 1 I will go with Council Salvation.

"The Council made it off with the help of the Destiny Ascension, the 5th Fleet took the brunt of the attack though. The Alliance lost a lot of men today." you tell Oolot as he stares at the screen with you.

"Seems like a damn waste to me, too many lives forfeited for politicians. We'd have left even a Clan Leader to their fate for being so foolish." he mutters.

There's another knock at the door.

"That must be Switch..."

You go and look through the peephole and see a very nervous looking Salarian jittering around. You put your hand on your pistol just in case.

You hit the intercom. "Switch?"

"Yeah, it's me!" he says jumping at the sound.

You unlock the door and let him in keeping him in front of you. Oolot has risen from his position and stares down the Salarian who looks like he might bolt any second.

You lock the door behind him.

"It's good to finally meet face to face Switch. I'm sorry the accomadations are a bit lacking, can I get you something?"

"No, no, it's quite alright. Thank you though. He has a seat on a stool near your kitchenette.

"So...straight to business then?" you ask taking a seat on the stool nearby. Oolot elects to stand on the far wall near the door.

I too vote for the good end. The alliance swooped in and rescued the Destiny ascencion.

That said, we are on Omega. I propose we are a Freelance Merc and Headhunter of fair renown. We are an expert in Sabotage, Hacking and Infiltration and perfectly complement our krogan friends raw firepower.

Or we are just mercs and are a soldier just like our krogan comrade.

We got kicked out of the Alliance military for repeated abuse of alcohol and narcotic substances as well as insulting a superior some years ago.
>>
>>20290076

"I have your passage off Omega, it wasn't easy but the Blue Suns are willing to risk it for the credits you put forth."

"Excellent..." you say as Oolot nods approvingly.

"You never did tell me what you're running from." Switch says

"I also paid you enough that you shouldn't ask." you reply dryly.

"Fair enough, if everything is in line I suggest you leave as soon as possible. They don't like to be kept waiting." Switch says pulling his Omni-tool and checking a message.

"All my business here is resolved." Oolot says smashing his fist into his palm. "I say we leave this shithole for good, it's brought me nothing but misery since I got here."

More advanced stuff is making tiny black holes that rip everything apart around them, making small orbs of insane mass so people float and orbit them, or making shields that slow down bullets

It's a small one bedroom apt. No windows. Your fridge has a couple bottle of beer, condiments, and a little bit of good whiskey from Earth. You elect to put that in a flask and save for later.
You grab your credit chip you had stashed away, it's got 500 credits on it.
Your living room is grimy, you really never had time to do much cleaning. Aside from that you really don't give a shit what your landlord thinks. You paid too much for this anyway.

Your pistol was already on you, concealed fairly well with your jacket over your waist.

Everything looks to be in order. You nod to Oolot who produces an incendiary grenade and toss it to you.

You look to Switch "Let's roll..."

You pop the pin and toss it into your bedroom, Switch looks to be in a state of shock but you grab him by his arm and walk him out just as the fire erupts from the room.

"Now, where are we meeting them Switch?" you ask as he stares at you like you're mad.

"Dock...dock D12..." he mutters

"You heard him, lead the way Oolot." you say to the massive Krogan dominating the hallway ahead.

"Aye" he says as you head into the markets.

"Not that I can think of, don't have the credits for much. Hopefully we won't need the firepower if the Blue Suns keep their end of the bargain."

"How likely do you think that is?" Oolot asks slowing down to walk beside you.

"About a 40% chance." you say barring your teeth

"That's not much...what do we do if they don't keep their word?" he inquires looking around watching the crowd.

"We kill them, take their guns, their ship, our money back and make it a point to fuck them over at every available opportunity."

An armed contingent of Blue Sun mercs dot the bay and one of their freighters loads on box after box of what you can only assume is military grade hardware.

Opportunity, for a smart man...

One without a helmet approaches you and extends a hand.

"Gary Howell, I'm the Captain of this ship." he says as you meet his hand.

"Bob Drake, no good dirty scoundrel, and these are my merry men. Say hello gentlemen." Oolot grunts his general direction and Switch offers a meek hello.

A few of the guards that were standing around monitoring you have begun to raise their weapons.

You can hear Oolot crack his huge knuckles and know he's ready for whatever you want to do.

Switch has already begun typing away on his Omni-tool, you'll leave him to his own devices.

There are many containers around the area, finding cover should likely be your first objective if you want to fight.

You may still be able to talk your way out of this, you've been in worse spots before.

The entrance to the ship is about 20 yards behind Gary and there are two armed guards standing by the ramp inside. You don't know how many there are but it looks to be about squad strength outside. It may be possible to get inside and lock them out and launch, it's only 3 guys, you've seen Oolot take on an entire squad hand to hand before so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

"Heard that saying about a cornered dog?" you ask Gary who looks a bit puzzled and his eyes widen. He moves to grab his gun and he raises it about halfway you push it forward into his chest, line up with his chin and pull the trigger. His brains make a bloody fountain out the top of his head as his eyes roll back. you take his pistol out of his dying grip and unleash your own as well. Tech armor hums to life and you're peppered with rounds from the guards near the door of the ship. Guns akimbo you empty the clips into their torsos and they slump to the floor.

>Tech Armor pings you as 60% strength, you doubt they've had much experience with Sentinels.

There is a sickening crunch as a crane drops a crate onto two guards near Switch, you realize he hacked the bay's loading gear and dropped a few tons of hardware on them. Blood splatter is all over Switch who shakes a little before turning to incinerate the one he missed.

Fire peppers Oolot who roars in a blood-rage and knocks one of the mercs flying into the container, out cold. He proceeds to charge the other and lifts him off the ground using him a a bullet shield charges the last member of the squad and uses the one he's holding as an improvised weapon to beat the last one to death. Blood pours from the armor of the one he's holding and he snaps his spine over his knee and moves toward you. He took a few hits but you can see his wounds are already coagulating. His regen is unreal.

"Well they brought it on themselves. Loot the bodies, take what you can. We still have to clear the ship and get out of hear before Aria arrives, her guys won't go down so easily." You say as you eject the clips from the pistols.

You eye the unconscious merc nearby, wondering what you should do with him.

Considering this consensus to get on board. You can decide what to do with him later, spacing him is always an option after-all.

You have Switch shut the ramp behind you and head towards the cock-pit. Oolot searches the vessel and gives the all-clear. You strip the merc of his armor and restrain him in medical. He shouldn't be causing you a problem any time soon.

"What have we got here Oolot?" you ask as he takes a pry-bar to a crate.

"A Krogan's wet dream..." he says hefting 2 ML-77 Missle Launchers, "Shit, we could consider sticking around to fight."

"While fun I'm not sure it's the most practical thing to do. Hardware we may have, manpower not so much." you tell Oolot who looks a little disappointed.

Switch is busying running diagnostics on the ship and cracking the launch security. He assures you it will be ready to go before Aria's men arrive.

You take your position in the Captains seat with Switch manning navigation. This ship seems to have a pretty heavy set of arms for a Freighter, no doubt the Blue Suns want to protect their supply lines. Those will come in handy.

"You need to see this..." Switch transfers a screen in front of you, it's the corridor on the way to the bay.

Asari in black armor storm down the hallway towards your newly aquired ship.

"Shit, commandos. Oolot get up here!" You yell back into the cargo bay. He knocks the chair out of the floor, it being far to small for him anyway. He spins up the guns."

"Let's see if they can handle ship based weaponry..." He mutters

You barely have time to brace as the ship rockets out of the hangar bay and into the asteroid field surrounding Omega.

Omega's anti-ship weaponry opens up on your vessel.

Give me a piloting check. A D100 if you will.

With some good piloting Switch avoids the brunt of Omega's defense canons.

"We're cutting it close. FTL drives are still spinning up and we're not clear yet." you mutter.

You check the scanners.

[ ] Go towards Asteroid Thicket, it'll be tough to pilot in but it should shield you from the fire.
[ ] Keep on current heading, it's in the open but it's easy to pilot in.
[ ] There's another large freighter coming in, you could use it as a meat shield, easy to do and very little risk to yourself but with it's lumbering pace it will be shredded against Omega's guns.

You take the controls from Switch much to his surprise and go deep into the Eezo rich asteroid field. You don't get hit even once. The field is ground to dust from the intensity of Omega's defenses but you even dodge the shots that make it through.

"FTL Capacitors charged, we've also exited Omega's effective gun range." Switch reports.

"Excellent, went smoother than even I'd hoped. I'm glad you elected to come Switch." you say patting him on the back.

"Not that you left me with a lot of choice...wanna explain what all this was about?" he asks fidgeting nervously.

"Perhaps later, Let's head to dark-space for the moment, then we'll select an alternate destination from there." you tell Switch, he sets the course and makes the jump.

"Just jump about 17 minutes and some odd seconds or so. Something random enough they won't find us easily." you request, Switch nods in acknowledgement.

Now to the matter at hand...

Oolot watches as the human male struggles against the bonds on the medical table through a monitor near the door.

"He's awake, what should we do?" Oolot asks folding his arms.

The vessel is called the Kestrel, it's just one of the Blue Suns many cargo freighters and you've hijacked a particularly valuable shipment meant for the frontlines of some conflict on a backwater shithole of a world.

Her offer wasn't that spectacular but you could see the logic in his words. Take our money and Aria's, don't break the first rule of Omega. Everything is peachy, only part of the plan that didn't go accordingly was them underestimating you. Aria was pretty tightlipped about why she wanted you. Heh, she couldn't let it slip someone nearly bested her, if she had told them they might have tried to ally with me and that's not good business for her.

As far as the Blue Suns go, you are for the moment, but they know the Kestrel is gone and you sincerely doubt Aria will have a problem letting them know who fucked them over. No immediate threat but the Blue Suns are not gonna be happy with you should you meet again and they recognize you.

It does but Switch deactivated all the ones he knew about during his initial diagnostic. You call him and order a more thorough check through all the subsystems and a walk around the ship checking for electronic signals that aren't native. You should have the results in a bit.

Zorya, out on the far edge of the galaxy, it apparently has some very nice refineries but it's a damp jungle hell-hole.
I make a note to consider selling the guns back to the Blue Suns. I doubt they'll be in a talking mood though that doesn't end with me in a box.
>>
>>20292371

The Attican Traverse is rife with slaver and merc activity though. If we're looking for a place to lay low, it might be a better idea to find a city somewhere near Citadel Space, and blend into a larger population. The traverse has plenty of young, small colonies, but they're probably not the most obfuscating places to go.
>>
>>20292416

Zorya? That's the fucking HQ of the Blue Suns. Who the hell are they fighting that's managed to invade their homeworld?
>>
>>20292486

that doesn't sound too improbable, planets tend to be rather big and fortifying one to actual homeworld level seems pretty damn expensive even for one of the largest merc groups in Terminus.
>>
>>20292355
>>20292382

You ask about his loyalty, he said he hadn't been with the Blue Suns too long, he was discharged from the Alliance after a bar fight went bad and he killed a man. He fled from the police and found employment with the Blue Suns who saw murder as a boon
He has a sob story of course, sending money home to his family who think he's still in the Alliance. He pleads with you not to kill him, he doesn't cry but he comes close.
He doesn't seem to be lying to you, you doubt if he had any real loyalty to the Suns he would have spilled this much information. He's just a guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Still he's a murderer though.

I'm honored. The ships arms are mostly to prevent boarding action, very short range. The Starboard guns got wrecked by the Asari commandos missile attack.

>>20292760
Enough small arms to outfit a couple of companies. Support too, combat drones, ML-77s, Mantis rifles, grenades of every flavor. Incendiary, cryo, shredder, ap, rounds. There's also a safe, heavy duty, looks like it could take a direct hit from one of the MLs and shrug it off. Requests pass-phrase. Doesn't seem to be voice-keyed but it wants a specific phrase. Failed attempt locks safe for 24 hours before additional attempt.

Luke really doesn't have much to say, he warns the Suns will not take this lying down, they'll be after us as soon as possible. He recommends liquidating our ill-gotten gains and moving on quickly.

>>20292822
That and a change of ship registration codes should suffice. Benning is a major shipyard for the Alliance, it should be possible to find someone who could help with that for a price.
>>
>>20292933

Ouch. A 24-hour lock out for a single failed code response? Well, so much for the tried and true brute force method.

At least the armory is well stocked. Mantis rifles can take the head off of a turian, and shredder rounds would make a Krogan sit the hell down; for a little while anyway.

Luke's got the right idea, I think. The Blue Suns are not people to fuck with, so dropping off the radar right the hell now sounds like a good plan.
>>

"Switch, i could use your help, if you wouldnt mind, Oolot, hang around the ship and keep an eye on Luke, might be able to unload some of our 'product' and pick up some more crew. Switch, your contacts, any you think might help us with that, buying cargo or have people to hire?"

Next time some one snickers at the name have Oolot come over the comma asking what is so funny, and do they sell any ponies as he would like to eat some of those delicious equestrians.

Let's check out shipyard facilities to perform some modifications to reflect our ship's new identity.

Also, let's check out job opportunities. Some of the more tech-leaning corps might have some electronics tools handy for cracking that safe, too...

This and we should also get some crew to help wit the ship.

I demand a Hanar Chef and Elcour weapons dealer.

"I'll begin work immediately, we may need to seek out trustworthy allies as well, it seems we have quite a few people angry with us at the moment. If it's alright I would rather stay with the ship. Why not take Luke with you and Oolot, I can handle this by myself. If it's ok I'll just activate a few combat drones to keep watch inside. If anything is wrong I'll just call you."

Oolot shrugs and Luke looks grateful to get off the ship if you'll let him.

Next time for sure.

You check and they should be able to repair the ships weaponry for 2000 credits. They could upgrade and give it some ship to ship missiles for 25k. Bigger engines for 100k, and more armor for 50k. Not practical at the moment but it's worth considering later on. From the amount of cargo you've acquired you could easily afford all those upgrades if you managed to make the sale at even 80% market value.

Yes. We need a Hanar chef.

Honestly, a crew would be nice. We could actually make a business venture out of this.

But first things first.

Does any of Switchs contacts want to buy some cargo, or know someone who does?

And should we try to take the safe to its intended recipient?

And how the FUCK do we keep away from motherfucken Aria?
>>
>>20294293
Aria's goons and assassins stretch far, so, you either need to make big enough friends she doesnt go after you with anything that would cost too much, make even bigger friends that you topple her regime, or Make Nice.

Yes. We need a Hanar chef.
>Switch is on it

Honestly, a crew would be nice. We could actually make a business venture out of this.
>He'll look into it as well

Does any of Switchs contacts want to buy some cargo, or know someone who does?
>First guess is Mercs, second guess Batarians but I understand you have some history, We could start our own Merc company

And should we try to take the safe to its intended recipient?
>Depends on how loyal they are to the Blue Suns, considering they're not a member, I'd say limited

And how the FUCK do we keep away from motherfucken Aria?
>Good luck with that

You, Oolot and Luke head out into the city.

"Ryan?" you turn to see a beautiful red headed woman rushing towards you and grab you in a tight embrace.

"God, it's been ages! How have you been?!"

Oolot and Luke both look a little confused, you're trying to place her but not having much luck. That's the problem with having so many names, you live so many lives you forget what some of them were even for.

>Wat do?
