You are a Magical Girl, and you're currently waiting for your flight to Siberia with a bag of porn on your lap.

Well, it's not just porn that's in the bag, no. There's also a shrink-wrapped plyester pillowcover there, depicting a blushing tearful blonde elf with her skimpy clothes in disarray. Frozen in time, mere seconds away from an earth-shattering session of coitus with her unseen lover.

Oh, and there's the three bars of drug-laced chocolate that you bought at 40% off. You can't forget that.

Why do they leave you alone with money, again? You should probably just stick to buying alcohol and painkillers. At least that's just a bit less depressing.
>>
>>20301050

Questionable gift shopping aside, you were mere moments away from investigating a particularly suspicious doujin that you've gotten free in an equally suspicious-sounding promo when your boss - a white mutant cat who always seemed to look smug despite not being able to change the expression on its otherwise mascot-like face - came into the scene, perching himself upon your shoulder. Your ensuing conversation with him began as awkward and stilted as always, and it looked to be that way until he told you two things: the first being that your rank had now been changed from Vindicare to Warmaster-in-Training, and the second being that someone named The Betrayer would be starting your training posthaste.

The Betrayer. The title is certainly ominous, but you don't remember anyone in the Officio bearing it. Nothing comes to mind - although, for the briefest of seconds, the silhouette of someone with long black hair, crimson-pinned black eyes, and elongated, skeletal claws for fingers come unbidden in your mind.

You narrow your eyes down at the Incubator in front of you and ask the most obvious question.

"Who is...?" Kyuubey tilts his head to the side, confusion coloring his voice. "Are you asking me who the Betrayer is, Matsuda?"

You nod. What else could you be asking? Is there something wrong with it?

"Well...no. Not as such. It's just that you're the last person I expected to ask that question." The Incubator's tail flicks lazily from side to side.

"She was, after all, your partner for the better part of last year. She even gave you that horrible nickname of yours. Murderface, was it?"

Your partner...? Huh. You don't...you don't remember.

How do you react?
>>
>>20301061
Ask for a rundown.
>>
[x]sigh at what your recurring amnesia has wrought, rotate your wrist in a "hurry up and give me the rundown" gesture.
>>
>>20301061
Remind him that we're in the habit of regularly forgetting our own name, let alone other peoples'. It's frankly a wonder that we consistently remember that we work for him.

No use playing it close to the chest with him. He's already aware that we're only periodically lucid, this past interlude being an odd exception, and we need to know this stuff.
>>
>>20301061
Tell him that we can't even remember our own name then have him give us a rundown.
>>
>>20301061

Pass it off as memory loss from frequent drinking or something.
At first I thought the betrayer was Madoka, where she kept getting periodically possessed by pinky.
But I looks like its someone else I don't think Madoka would give someone the name "Murderface"
>>
>>20301061
Kyuubey, you know very well that the memory portion of my brain is essentially swiss cheese, I switch names randomly, barely remember who you and any of my acquaintances are and would forget them if I didn't see them for two months, and according to the video recordings once thought I was a masked hero of justice for a brief yet still unfortunate time that lasted a week, god knows where I found a luchadore mask. I don't even know my fucking real name.

Details, now. Tell me about the Betrayer.
>>
Sounds like we'll be training with Black Gold Saw.
Could be worse.

Remind it we forgot our OWN name not too long ago.
>>
>>20301061
'Of course I knew that, I was just testing you!"
>>
Speaking of our name... We had asked Kyubey to track down the name, hadn't we? Has anything come up in that regard? Let's not get too distracted, that we forget to ask about it, as well as about golden weapons.
>>
What fucking number were Kilgore's gauntlets?
>>
>>20301061
Stop playing dumb cat, you know I don't remember shit.

don't leave any of details out either
>>
>>20301161 >>20301096 >>20301086

"Ah, yes, your convenient, if selective amnesia." Kyuubey breaks off his stare with you to calmly lick the back of its paw. The little cat bastard was grooming himself in front of you. "It's always struck me as strange, your episodes. Sure, you do forget certain things, but some of your memories have always remained constant. Like your association with Mami Tomoe, for instance. Or your obsession with drinking and painkillers. Or your long-standing enmity with Miki Sayaka."

You give an irritated grunt and nudge at the self-grooming Incubator with the toe of a shoe. It's the kindest way, under the circumstances, for you to tell him to get on with it.

"Yes, yes." Kyuubey blinks. "The Betrayer. Her real name is Valnikov Kharn. Five years of active service. She started out as a Vindicare for two years, transferred to Eversor at the third, and achieved full Warmaster Rank at the fourth. She abdicated the position at the latter half of her fifth year - and that was when I assigned her to be your partner. Your partnership lasted six months before she...voluntarily retired from active duty and volunteered to serve in our Siberia R&D branch as an assistant."

You're not sure, but you sense a bit of hesitation in Kyuubey's voice as he recounted the last days of Kharn's career.

"I probably shouldn't be surprised that you forgot, or that you decided to block that six-month period of your career away to oblivion." If the Incubator had shoulders, he'd have probably shrugged by now. "You didn't part ways amicably. But I have to admit, for a novice, you were her perfect partner. I don't think I've ever seen a pair clear out an entire building of hostiles faster than the both of you working together."

[1/2]
>>
>>20301217
QB probably doesn't know how to find the numbers on the weapons, so he doesn't know.
>>
>>20301280
He forgot to mention our deep and abiding love of pancakes.
>>
>>20301280
KHARRRRN
>>
Wonder what specifically got Valnikov to dub Matsuda "Murderface".
>>
>>20301280
Oh great.
Better send word ahead about the whole amnesia thing. Judging from our recent forays into the mystical realm known as 'social interaction', she probably had a good reason for ditching us.
>>
>>20301280

"I suppose you can consider this a reunion of sorts, then, Matsuda. Once again, I'll remind you to try and learn something from the Betrayer - she taught Kirika herself, after all, before her self-imposed exile."

It's then that Kyuubey turns slightly, as if to look at something to the side. "Ah, I almost forgot. Another thing popped up while we were analyzing Kilgore's gauntlets. The Roman Numeral XI, on both of the bangles themselves. We only found the markings after trying to clean the blood off of them." He looks up at you questioningly. "Do you know of the significance behind this numerical designation? From what I remember, your Desert Eagle and Kirika's sword had similar markings, but different values."

How do you respond?
>>
>>20301325
It probably wouldn't hurt to tell QB that there are probably going to be 20 of the weapons in total. I can't remember if Matsuda also told him about Pinky's little visits, if so then we can probably tell him the prophecy of collecting them all.
>>
>>20301325
"Probably some sort of magical bullshit. Magic you can't explain that shit"
>>
>>20301325
'Guess they're part of a set. At least twenty of the fucking things, from the number on the pig-sticker's pig sticker.'
>>
>>20301325
"It's their Pok?dex number. Gotta catch'em all."
With a serious face, of course.
>>
>>20301336
there was never any in-universe link to the tarot cards, just meta discussion I'm pretty sure.

>>20301342
this, and have QB tell Valnikov we remember jack shit.

>>
>>20301342

This.
>>
>>20301325
Tell that we're not sure but we think that there are at least 20 golden weapon accord to the numbers.
>>
>>20301351
I was talking about Misaka's brief possession where she stated that Matsuda was to collect all the weapons and bring the world to ruin or something. But yeah, the tarot cards was just meta speculation.
>>
Also ask him if he ever found anything about the witch attack on Mami's apartment and who the fuck Akemi Homura is.
>>
>>20301325
There's at least twenty of them and they're trying to come together. From our small sample size we can tentatively deduce that their holders are drawn to try to kill each other, and after encountering Kilgore we know that they can be wielded by anyone. I'd probably behoove QB to dedicate some intelligence assets to at least combing the city for them. If more than two of them at once have an opportunity to go at it, it'd be a miniature disaster area.

I have absolutely no clue what the numbers mean, aside from the fact that Kirika seemed obsessed with them

The numbers murderface what do they mean?

And my remembering Mami and Sayaka is more an emotional thing, same as I remember you because of the rush of revulsion I feel whenever I have to look at you

I know I am massively late, sorry. Had to attend an urgent family trip.

Anon who asked, I hope your still here, cus its done.

>>
>>20301325
I'm guessing it's a numbering system. There are at least 20 as Kirika's katana had XX on it, do not come crying to me if there is a number larger than 20.

My Deagle has VIII on it.

According to Misaka's madness network I should collect the whole set to fix my shield. I'm supposed to end the world before "she" does, and by she I'm guessing we're talking about the Pink Bitch. Me destroying the world is better than her destroying the world, go figure.

You shake your head after a moment. You're not too sure what they mean, but from what you can infer, there may be twenty of the damn things out in circulation. With three currently in this Officio's possession - or at least that you know of - that makes seventeen of the evil things still out there. And as Kilgore had proven, the owners may not be strictly confined to the Magical Girl demographic.

"...I see. I'll see about advising the rest of the girls about them, should they come upon such weapons. I'll also check with our competitors, see if they know anything about them."

You nod at this, before two remaining questions pop up from your memory. You ask them immediately, before they sink back into oblivion, to be buried underneath other, less relevant queries.

"The Witch that spawned in Mami's apartment? Ah, yes. It appears that she was a former contractee of Hanegawa Midori's original Incubator. I've yet to pin down his location, but rest assured I've got people on this case. No one wants a rogue Incubator running amok in Mitakihara."

And the name?

"There is no official record of any Akemi Homura in Mitakihara, Matsuda. As far as the records go, she doesn't exist. Nothing in the national registry, either, if that's what you're about to ask." Another tilt of the head. "Did I satisfy your requests in a satisfactory manner, then? Anything else you'd like to ask, or am I free to ask for reimbursement, now?"

How do you respond?
>>
Might want to consider telling QB about the prophecy, we've been fairly straight with him so far and he hasn't decided to retire us.
>>
>>20301513
He doesn't need to know how we know what we know, just what we know. If he's appraised of the fact that they're going to come together and try to kill each other, it's irrelevant how we got that information.
>>
>>20301497
I think that's it for now.
And wait, reimbursement? He never said anything about us owing him anything before.

Once Midori calms down from her "It's not what it looks like!" panic, we should probably ask her if she knew anybody by the description of the Magical-Girl-turned-Witch that we executed in Mami's apartment.
>>
>>20301611
Us and Midori.
>>
>>20301583

>>
>>20301626

Want want to ix-nay on the part where we're the one that killed her, though.
>>
I was thinking that we should call Iori before get on the plane.
>>
>>20301611
Matsuda really needs to grill Midori on several aspects of that doujin. Such as why is she drawing it, for how long, and and how popular is it? Especially how popular is it in the Officio as Matsuda may need to Exterminatus the entire company.

Another thing to consider is that as Midori is apparently a crazed fan, when she stopped the neckbeards from raping Matsuda she may not have done it "from one professional to another". She hasn't really acted like a professional ever (see the stay in the car incident) and may have been instead planning on taking Matsuda home for herself. Hell, she probably has some creepy Muderface shrine hidden away somewhere.

Also, Matsuda needs to talk with Midori about that mission in general just so she knows what exactly happened and what was illusions so she can prepare to deal with Iori meeting Midori when the Russian trip is over.
>>
>>20301626
I still think we should also ask these questions.

1) When did you find out that you hadn't signed up to be sailor moon?

2) What your relationship with your parents? (she doesn't seem that concerned about them, she has been gone for more then a week)

3) What is your incubators name?

We can also toss in

4) "Takatsuki Yayoi" Did you also do your magic there?

To make her squirm. :P
Anyway, I think we should ask her the incubators name because she is supposed to be working with us, if she refuses to answer it does make is seem like she still wants to run back to her old incubator.
>>

>>
>>20301672
>Hell, she probably has some creepy Muderface shrine hidden away somewhere.
Am I the only one who'd find that kinda cute?

Anyway - depending on how long she's been stalking us, she might have some information on our life from before our last amnesia attack (Quest thread 1). It might seem odd asking another person about out own life, but right now we could bluff it with being enraged by doujin and wanting to know how much she know.
>>
>>20301715

Which will be a shame, since she seems fun to tease.

Kyuubey seems to blink at your barrage of questions, and it takes him a moment to answer. "Well, I was going to ask for--" He glances around him, before sighing. "Nevermind. Forget I mentioned anything."

He starts to groom himself again. "From what I can recall from Mami's reports, you never really gave yourself a name until Kharn gave you one. After she found you in Charlotte's Witch barrier, you were never able to give yourself a name we could use in referring to you. We decided on simply calling you Girl A for the duration of your recovery. I placed you in active duty with Kharn as your partner and minder, and she immediately gave you your name, at your first meeting. It seemed to stick, despite obvious objections. You even remembered it, even when you started having your episodes."

Another tilt of the head. "You can understand our collective relief, then, when you decided to call yourself Chiaki Matsuda. Something that doesn't sound strange when we're talking about you in public."

He nods at the shield clamped on your right arm. "I have my own ideas regarding your shield, but they're all simple theories. I have nothing concrete to offer in the way of proof. For all I know, your shield places you in a dimension different than what we're on, instead of actually stopping time." He shrugs. "I was not responsible for your Wish, that much is clear."

It's then that the Incubator stretches, cat-like as usual. "If our little interview is done, Matsuda, then I will excuse myself. Your flight should be ready momentarily." A sigh. "Oh, and your new accommodations have been found. We'll move your belongings to it before you get back."

It seems that Kyuubey is getting ready to leave. You have an opportunity for one last question. What will it be?
>>
>>20301760
Not really. We might be capable of softening a tad, and showing joy for perfect pancakes.

But showing actual love for someone, opening our already scarred and battered heart, coming out of the massive fortifications we've constructed out of painkillers, booze and emotional repression. Not that likely.

Misaka is okay, she's Misaka. She gives us guns we pat her head and tell her she did good. It's simple, it's little sistery, we can deal with that.

The moment someone actually tries to hold her hand in a loving way or god forbid go any further, we're going to freak the fuck out. We're getting better and acting closer to normal, but we're still pretty fucked up.
>>
>>20301780
Ask about the Warmaster position. What does the work entail and who supported the promotion? Is it just bullshit propaganda?
>>
>>20301780
Can I...

>>
>>20301780
"Anything I should know about Misaka's brother? Because if there was anything I knew, I don't remember it anymore."
>>
Now I'm curious what he was going to ask for...
>>
>>20301780
I don't have another question for QB, but I am wondering where's Mami.
She said she had homemade lunches for us. That's reason enough to force the flight to be delayed until she arrives.
>>
Should we ask if there have been any changes with the Iori protection job?

We can probably ask Mami or even the Betrayer about the details of the Warmaster position later on, or even ask QB if we get back.
>>
>>20301780

What was the reimbursement he was talking about?
>>
>>20301780
Ask QB to give Valnikov a heads up that we don't remember anything about her. We can at least try to avoid any social akwardness.

Also, what did the Mutant Cat want? Incredibly odd of him to just drop the subject.
>>
>>20301789
Sums it up neatly. But is Chiaki aware of this much in character? Would be cool if she did, because I can think of at least two girls that should hear this explanation.
>>
>>20301808
>That's reason enough to force the flight to be delayed until she arrives.
But how would we... oh,... Relaese Misaka! Let her have look at the plane engines.
>>
>>20301780

In light of Chiaki's newly not completely missing social awareness, do people think it'd be out of character for us to point blank ask if Mami is ok with the whole warmaster thing? It's still fairly blunt but we would care, and if this is all some sort of elaborate game to cause dissent amongst us his answer might give us some clue.
>>
>>20301826
IMHO yes, she should be able to see that much.
>>
>>20301826
Well I would say it is more likely we ask bluntly because of our lack of social skills but from experience about checking such things because we know how bad we are at understanding these things

Mami is the only one we seem to ever have cared about beyond not wanting them to go away or die
>>
>>20301859
Because Mami is nice to us no matter how much of an asshole we are.
We should really express to her how important that is to us.
>Hint, it's very important
>>
>>20301878

But telling her how important she is may trip her death flag.
>>
I assume that Mami is going to deliver the packed food, so we can ask her ourselves.
>>
>>20301878
Well yeah no shir it is both important and that's why we like her

I see it as murderface remembers her and likes her because she has a motherly sort of comfort that she brings to murderface
>>
>>20301819
I tend to think of her as pretty self aware that she's broken. She isn't an idiot, she self medicates heavily, knows that she's bad news for anyone and is well aware that she keeps any relationships she has in very firm boundaries.

Misaka it's get guns, give head pats and tell her she did a good job. It's reciprocal, we can deal with that.

Mami provides pancakes/moral support and we care about her opinion but we don't really open up to her. We saw her as a safety net, no matter how far down we dropped due to our various addictions she would be there to pick us up, that's one of the reasons we got so fucking scared when we thought she was not going to abandon us, it meant that no one was going to stop us from taking a shovel and digging once we hit rock bottom.

But these relationships tend to be one sided, we take more than we give.

An actual two-sided romantic/emotional attachment would be completely alien to Chiaki, especially given how much effort she puts into dulling her emotions and keeping them under a very tight leash.
>>
>>20301901
And we need to start expressing (among other things) gratitude.
And Mami is probably the best place to start with that.
>>
>>20301898
Knowing Mami, she'd probably lie to make Matsuda feel better and let whatever jealousy eat her up inside. Nevertheless, Matsuda should ask anyway just to demonstrate that she does care about Mami's feelings, might help prevent Pinky from corrupting Mami.
>>
>>20301903

A quick bit of evidence for that was the surprising empathy she showed for the shut-ins when she went to buy the doujins last thread.
>>
>>20301780
Ask about getting Mami as an advisor.
>>
>>20301913
Even if we don't use our only question now for it, we should ask QB as well as Mami, if only to see his reaction if this is a game. Also shows him that we're normalising, which can be good in that it shows we wont flip out, but bad in that a sane Chiaki is a less killy one, and makes it even clearer that Mami is a lever for us.

Also, you seem fairly insightful good sir. I could always use a brakeman on my train.
>>
>>20301903
I see Misaka as a two way relationship more thannou say but I agree mainly
Chiaki knows she is broken and doesn't try to hide it, she hasn't tried to improve it because she so far has seen no need because there is nothing that lasts very long aside from her job and she has had routine work for as long as she can remember.

Now there is a consistent threat, danger to her friends and the first person aside from Mami she has ever met that thinks she isn't a waste of space and that is a massive shake up for her

Ask what a warmasters restrictions are on having subordinates and allies. Including ones only affiliated with the officio.

>>
>>20301984
Who says she can't learn to flip the switch? Soldiers do it to go from whatever they are normally to 'Kill The Enemy'. Chiaki just needs to figure out what her not-batshit-crazy-death-whirlwind mode is like, then she can gauge accordingly.

I would also like to put forth the idea that if Midori's even a halfway decent artist that we put her to work on some sort of propaganda artwork for QB. I'm sure he'd appreciate having an in-house semi-professional artist for projects.
>>
>>20302029
Could be useful once we make sure no mention of her first big project ever comes to light

I was thinking more that QB might worry about us being too much of a real person to be efficient, but we're not getting there any time soon, so no fear of that.

We've made serious progress along the road of becoming a better person but we are by no means fixed.

>>20301958
It's closer to it than most I agree, but I still see barriers there.

I can't really envision Chiaki pouring her heart out and confiding in Misaka, or trying to deepen their relationship and invest more of her emotions in it.

She likes Misaka, she cares for her in her own odd way, but I don't think she's going to let it go any further than it already is.

I see their relationship at a nice, stable point that Chiaki doesn't want to futz with. It's consistent, reliable, it works.

On a related note, Iori. While I agree that we should have let her down, we could have done it much better than we did. She was looking to us for emotional support and honestly we couldn't give it.
>>
>>20302039
Given that apparently half the Officio reads her manga I'm sure someone would recognize the art style. This is of course assuming they haven't already realized that Magical Midori is our Midori. We really need to find out who exactly is in our unwanted fanclub. I'm guessing Kumatora. God help us if Kyouko and Sayaka find out about the manga.

I vote that apart from teasing Midori a bit, WE NEVER MENTION IT EVER AGAIN. It's bad enough that the girls idolise Chiaki, but the collective nervousness and embarrassment if there was even an inkling of us knowing about it could combine into a ray to shoot Faust out of orbit.

Kyuubey seems to blink at this sort of question from you. "Well, this is a surprise. I feel that it's been a long while since you ever take anything from work seriously." He clears his throat, a surprisingly human gesture, before speaking again. "Becoming Warmaster means to have the highest rank in the Officio, Matsuda, second to the Officio's Incubator. A less bellicose version of the title and a much more accurate one means that you are to be my proxy, my right hand if you will. You will be overtaking certain duties that both Kharn and Mami had undertaken, and these duties are as important as they are delicate."

So a glorified secretary, then? You ask as you scowl at the mutant cat. You're not liking the job description, much.

"No, no. Not as such. Being Warmaster also means that you have authority over anyone underneath your rank - and that means everyone in my payroll is beholden to you. The resources of the Officio are at your command, to do with as you please. And you'll need them for those duties - all of which have more at stake and have farther reaching consequences than, say, protecting an idol."

He seems to smirk at you as he continues. "The Warmaster rank is not to be taken lightly. Only the deadliest and most powerful Magical Girls are considered for this rank. It should say something, then, that the position has been empty for the longest time - and Mami was still in the middle of her training before you replaced her."

It's then that the Incubator looks over your shoulder. "In any case, it looks like you can ask her yourself. I'll take my leave, then, Matsuda. I have business to take care of. Behave in Siberia."

[1/2]
>>
>>20302113
We should try to avoid getting a non-magical girl involved in Matsuda's life. Iori deserves to live a normal life, not one of bloodshed and misery. The other magical girls are already lost causes and misery loves company. Not that Matsuda really seems like the romance type.

Without another word, Kyuubey scampers off - and you immediately catch a whiff of divinity. The scent of warm, freshly-baked pancakes drowned in syrup.

"Chiaki-san." You turn at the voice, and see Mami in her black riding jacket, worn over a tasteful white blouse and conservative black skirt. She is carrying a rather stuffed wicker basket in one arm, and her helmet under the other.

And she is smiling at you, as if you were not yourself. As if you were not a broken-down wreck of a Magical Girl with a bag of porn on her lap.

You manage to smile at her, awkwardly, before pushing the bag of questionable material off of your lap and hiding it under the bench, behind your legs. This act of necessary concealment done just before she walks around the bench, taking a seat just beside you. Her soft, warm hip coming in contact with yours.

"I'm sorry if I'm a bit late, Chiaki-san. The traffic was just horrible!" Mami apologizes, shaking her head as she places the basket beside her on the bench, and her helmet on her lap. She looks you up and down, that pleasant smile still on her face as she does so - her amber eyes warm and devoid of the chilling formality that she'd treated you after the incident with Kirika. "Bumper to bumper! I couldn't even ride as fast as I wanted!"

They're each other's bitches, we're just their boss. Kyoko probably wears the pants most of the time, but I bet Sayaka takes charge every once in a while. Also if one of them has had one hellishly long day the other just takes care of them, no questions asked about who's in charge.

Note for when we become Warmaster. We should have our authority begin and end inside the confines of our job.

If it is work related we can throw commands around if needed, if it's outside of work we shouldn't use it. We don't get to use our authority to make Sayaka and Kyoko talk about intimate details of their relationship or to make Mami make us pancakes when she doesn't feel like it. And definitely no using it to acquire sexual favors.

Yes. Mami, despite her appearances, is a regular speed demon on two wheels. You're probably the only one who knows that, having had the pleasure of riding with her that one time. You couldn't believe how someone so...Mami-like could have such an appetite for GOES FAST like her.

"Well, how are you, then?" She leans close to you and sniffs. "Hmm. Kong Whisky, again. You know how I don't like you drinking, Chiaki-san, but at least I didn't find you roaring drunk in a public place." She shakes her head, a small sad smile on her face. "In any case, as promised. Dinner for all three of you. I made the portions extra large, and extra special. I also marked whose dinner is whose, so there's no confusion."

You nod slowly and thank her as you glance at the bulging wicker basket. You wonder how anyone in the world could survive without their own personal Mami Tomoe.

"No need to thank me, Chiaki-san. You've been through a lot these past few days, and..." She shrugs, making certain elements underneath her jacket bob slightly up as she smiles at you. "...I don't think I made it any easier on you." She reaches over to place her hand on yours. "About...about Kirika. I'm sorry, Chiaki-san. I thought I could somehow help her, but..." Mami shakes her head. "...I don't know how to gain back your trust in me, after having done something like that. If there's anything I can do to help you forgive me...please tell me and I'll do it, Chiaki-san."

Your personal blonde goddess of Victory is asking you for forgiveness.

I'm completely for Iori still, personally. I think it's important to us that Iori is the only one of our relations that is OUTSIDE of the network, that she's a civilian that has a view of the outside world. Especially if we go through with out promotion, I think it'll be important that we have someone keeping us grounded and getting too into our work.

I also think it's too late for her to avoid Pinky's gaze; it seems clear to me that Matsuda thinks she's someone important, as a friend if nothing else, otherwise we wouldn't have teared up so much when we had our little fight. Weather or not that goes further then friendship remains to be seen, but the flags been tripped already.

As for Misaka, Mami, and Midori, I don't know if they're the best fit. Misaka seems much more like little sister territory to me, while Mami is like our big sister. While some might be into that, I'm willing to bet that Matsuda (wow, lots of M names...) doesn't want that screwed up if she can avoid it. Relations COULD work, but it might just destroy her if they didn't work out.

Midori is going far to far into creepy stalker, for me. Do we really want a Yandare follow/girlfriend? Actually... don't answer that, I think I can guess people's thoughts on that question.
>>
>>20302394
You don't need to Mami.
The fact that you have persevered with me is the the same reason why you thought you could save Kirika, I may not have gotten along with her but I didn't like having to kill her.

Mami I have to ask, what would you think if kyuubey wanted to make me a war master? I don't trust him and I think it is one of his games but the only person I can honestly trust with a question like this is you. And if I took it, would you be my second so that you could keep me from going the same way Kirika did?

Exactly, she was just trying to protect one of her friends and we shouldn't hold it against her.
On top of that we basically turned her best friend into hamburger right in-front of her. That is some serious apology territory right there.

I think a bit of self-awareness would be good for Chiaki. She's well aware that she's kinda broken, she'd have to be blind, deaf and lobotomized not to notice. We know we have severe self-destructive tendencies and that without outside influence we'd happily feed them as much as they wanted.

She knows that Mami has on numerous occasions nursed her back to health after combining massive quantities of painkillers and whisky, despite her disapproval of them she's just tried to get us back in decent shape. Not to even mention the whisky pancake debacle.

We are well aware that we fucked it up with Iori and we don't hate Iori, we don't like seeing her depressed. Mami is the only one we can really think of who might be able to help us with her.

It is a bit of a non issue because Deculture rewords things, but I'm just trying to square my interpretation of the character with yours. I agree that she would be feeling those things, I just feel that she would express them in a much simpler and straightfoward way. For example maybe just going straight for a hug (which still may not be in character but the idea strikes me as unbearably cute.)

I think everyone who is left agrees more or less with the dude who has an unhealthy fixation with trains, it's just us debating how fast we go. So sorry for being too OCD...
>>
>>20302569
This is actually feasible if you gather them all in the same location, get them boozed a bit and then time stop. Yes Pinky will appear, but then Pinky gets to watch Murderface ignoring her and licking soul gems. WORTH IT
>>
>>20302809
Well I don't really think we should go for the hug or we should sort of half go for it but murderface is still far too broken for anything that advanced.

And we would stumble over the whole thing naturally
>>
>>20302829
So worth it
And we could hand pinky a bottle of booze as well and tell her to relax for once.
Maybe give her the murderface porn as well
>>
>>20302394
>Tell her to stick her soul gem in maple syrup and then lick it while recording with a camera
>>
>>20302835
The idea of Chiaki going little girl mode appealed to me, but the end result would be her lying on the floor, covered in blood. And worst of all, Mami would have the doujin starring us in her hands
>>
>>20302809
OCD is fine.
The only problem is when such things cause a massive shitstorm that doesn't even result in new ideas to use.

As long as you remain reasonable, any disposition is fine.

Your eyes grow wide at this unexpected apology. It's...you're not sure where it came from, or why is it even happening, now. By all rights - by any leap of logic - it should be you doing the apologizing. It should be you asking for forgiveness. It should be you desperately trying to repair what little remains of the bridge between you and Mami.

You swallow painfully, finding your throat dry, and it's then that you manage to shake your head. You try to speak, and you're slightly horrified at how your voice is trembling.

You manage to tell her - after a few false starts, and a few moments of stark, uneasy silence - that there's nothing to forgive. That you should be the one apologizing in the first place. You...you should be thanking her, too, at that. You know that she'd given you more chances that you deserve, even when everyone else had long since given up on you - including the girl you sometimes forget the name of when you look at the mirror.

You work up a small smile, hoping to whatever god found it funny to put you in this situation that it looked sincere - and give it to Mami for as long as you can before you find yourself turning away. Turning your hand slightly underneath Mami's to clasp her fingers and squeeze it, gently.

Your first apology, both received and made. Your attempt at it is...pitiful, if you're going to be at all honest, but you hope it is enough.

Your only warning is a rustle of leather before you feel Mami wrap her arms warmly around you, pulling you into a hug.

I just think it's about time we started making a little progress forward.

And I understand we'll probably have to take baby steps, since revealing our feeling is probably a new thing for Chiaki.

As long as we get across the general idea that we should be asking Mami for forgiveness, and a general feeling of thanking her for being awesome, I think we'll be good.

You're...not used to this sort of physical contact. You're not. Any other person, you would have immediately stiffened up, pushed them off, and made damn sure they wouldn't have the temerity of touching you again like that for a very long time. But...but not Mami. Not in this case.

You actually feel tears pricking at the edges of your eyes as her warmth envelops you, pressing softly yet insistently against your chest, against your sides, against your back. Her nostalgic scent lacing every inhalation. Reminding you of home.

For one brief moment, you feel the safest you've ever felt. Something you've only felt only a handful of times in your life - the most recent being the moment before you passed out from blood loss after Kirika had relieved you of your favorite drinking arm. For one brief moment, the world didn't exist.

It's only too bad that it didn't last as long as you wanted it to, Mami pulling away after a while. Her eyes shining, wet with tears. These she wipes quickly away with her fingers, giggling awkwardly.

"I...I'm sorry, Chiaki-san. I know you're not into hugs, o-or any physical contact of the sort, but..." she smiles, again, with that smile that could make any idiot with a gun feel brave enough to take on an army. "...I'm just relieved that we're alright, again. Thank you. I promise not to give you any reason to doubt me again."

You nod after a moment's silence. You're just as glad as her.

Hey.
I just got an idea what's could be behind the constant relapse in amnesia.
The shield keeps rewinding time to one particular moment when we die, however in its broken state it only effects one person instead of the entire world.

Well that's what I think
>>
>>20303140 >>20303136 >>20303133

You take a moment to compose yourself as well, taking off your glasses to run a sleeve across your eyes, and then placing them back on.

It's a bit funny, but this is the second time you've shed tears in one day. It's not really that strange, of course, you've shed tears before, you're no unfeeling monster - but at the same time, it comes up so rarely that you might as well have lost the ability to. At the very least, you tell yourself, you're reminded that what little left of you that's sane is capable of human emotion.

It's there, while waiting for your flight during the now comfortable silence between you and Mami that you decide to take a risk. One that could...well, somewhat spoil things between you and her, but this is just as good a place as any, right?

Taking a deep breath, you open your mouth to ask her about what she felt about such a development. About you replacing her as Warmaster.

You only get a few syllables in before she completes the sentence for you.

"...What do I think about you being the new Warmaster, Chiaki-san?" Mami says smoothly as she turns to smile at you once more, now more energetically than before. "I'm very proud of you, of course! I'm relieved that my vote still counted, even though I was no longer in the running!"

Well, she's not angry. That's a good thing.

Wait, what?

Mami nods, still beaming. "I'm the one who put your name in as the new potential Warmaster, Chiaki-san. You should've seen everyone in the office light up when your name came up in the ballot - and I do believe it was a landslide victory! Everyone picked you over the other candidates!"

That's...that's good news, you suppose. You've always skipped Officio meetings like that - you're not the biggest fan of similar votes, except for the bit where Mami got nominated (and voted) Warmaster. But this...well. This was news.

You'd think by generally acting as yourself that you'd be at the very bottom of the list for anything that required resposibility, accountability and reliability. This was the Warmaster position they were talking about - not some goddamn class council position.

Why did she do that, you ask?

"Well, I..." Mami blinks at your question, before smiling sheepishly and clasping her gloved hands in front of her. "I'm sorry if you think it's a bit sudden, Chiaki-san, but there's a bit of a selfish reason why. I can't tell you just yet, but..." It's then that she takes both your hand in hers, lifting them up between them. "Half of that reason is that I want you to grow, Chiaki-san. You work very hard in your missions, no one can dispute that - but no one sees it, either. And you don't like to show it off, either. I want them to know and see just how good you are at being a Magical Girl, Chiaki-san, and how seriously you take this job." She leans in close. "I can't think of anyone else better to receive the rank than you, and I think you'll be the best Warmaster there is."

That's...how do you always end up making people expect better of you, while you've made it abundantly clear that you are horrible at everything?

It's then that Mami draws back, letting go of your hands. "Just remember to do your best in your training and on all your assignments from now on, Chiaki-san." Your personal goddess of luck smiles, again. "And please, try not to drink on the job. You can drink all you want at home, but never on active duty. It doesn't give out the best impressions."

You'll try your best, fine. But you're not a miracle worker. Especially not when said miracles involve curbing your habit of making a mockery out of your liver.

You nod again, mumbling something to the effect of assent - when suddenly the PA system of the airport rings out the message you've been waiting for all this time:

"Passengers for Charter Flight 117-B to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Siberia, please make your way to Gate 12. Repeat, Passengers..."

"That's your flight, isn't it?" Mami says as she gets up. "We'd better not keep them waiting, Chiaki-san. Come on, I'll see you off. They should let me through the gate, at least."

You nod as you follow suit - stopping for a few moments before bending down slightly to pick up the bag of pornography that you've hid from your blonde benefactor. She blinks at the bag, before crimsoning slightly as she looks up at you. She stays quiet about it, however, and instead starts to talk about how you should bundle up always in Siberia, as it's horribly cold, there.

We should probably tell Mami that it's a gift. It might remove the embarrassment and she could stop us if giving porn to a shut-in is a faux-pas.

Also, I just realized. With the magical girl regeneration, Matsuda's liver and lungs should be relatively good despite the amount of crap Matsuda abuses.
>>
Mami would choose us to rule through.
No one competent would.
You want someone who doesn't come up with ideas on their own, good or bad.
Chiaki would easily make bad decisions in regards to orders.
Mami also already was lined up for the position, so armchairing would be a massive ego hit.

But I wouldn't be surprised if she readily helped Chiaki with things she really can't handle.
It's half gaining power for her AND Chiaki, and half helping Chiaki grow.

You make your way to the numbered gate - and it leads right out to the tarmac, armed guards glancing your way before directing you to your flying coffin of choice, which is currently basking in front of its runway. The night lights reflected on its glossy, polished exterior.

From your limited experience with aircraft, it seems to be one of those Learjets. An 85, if memory serves you right. QB Heavy Industries' logo and name painted almost garishly on the side, denoting that it's owned by the company you work for. You also see Misaka and Midori standing by the automatic stairs, clearly waiting for you - the latter's eyes widening at your arrival, before looking away, clearly embarrassed.

You motion for them to go ahead up into the plane - and Misaka is all smiles as she races up the stairs, clambering in with the energy of a twelve-year-old. Midori follows closely behind, still red in the face, and you stop her for a moment before she could ascend.

She looks at you, terrified, before you hand her both the bag of pornography (with the suspicious chocolate bars inside) and the wicker basket Mami brought you, telling her to carry them into the plane. She nods at this, swallowing, before meekly making her way into the plane.

"Well, this is it, Chiaki-san." Mami says after Midori is well out of earshot. "Say hello to Miss Kharn for me, will you? And make sure to tell her about your promotion - I'm sure she'll be able to teach you a lot of things about being Warmaster. More than I ever could." She sniffs and wipes her eyes, again. "Don't let Misaka-chan play out in the snow for too long, and don't let go around Midori-chan unattended, okay?"

You say yes to all her requests, not sure if you could actually do them all, but you'll try.

How do you say goodbye?

I think we need to read it before we decide what we want to do with her. Oooh, actually, we could quickly and in very general terms ask Mami how to handle the situation. We're about to have a bunch more subordinates to handle, so we should practice on the one we do have. Deculture is probably writing up the response though, so eh.
>>
>>20304058

You glance up the doorway leading into the Learjet, making sure that neither Misaka nor Midori is around to see you make a fool of yourself - before you step forward and take Mami into what could be the most awkward hug in the history of awkward hugs. She's taken by surprise, the helmet she's grasping dropping to the tarmac with a thunk, punctuating her sharp intake of breath - before she softens in your embrace and returns it.

She doesn't let go until you do, and she places a soft, warm kiss on you cheek before stepping back. That small smile on her lips once more.

"Chiaki-san, can you do me just one last favor?" She clasps her gloved hands before her. "Once you land, can you give the pilot a solid hit for me? Don't hurt him too much, just...something to teach him a lesson. Please?"

You blink at this request. Did the pilot do something bad to her? You'll settle it right now, if that's the case--

"O-oh, no, no. Just that I know the pilot, and he deserves it. But no, he didn't do anything to me, I promise. Just that he needs a good whack now and again."

You nod after a moment's confusion. It's a favor.

"Alright. See you when you get back, Chiaki-san. I'll miss you." Mami Tomoe waves at you as you finally make your way up the stairs, leaving her there on the tarmac. You say the same - and nearly add something about her pancakes. Focus, future Warmaster. Don't fuck up now.

>Mami

>MY SUBORDINATE WAS WRITING PORN OF ME WAT DO?

>>
>>20304275

You pull the plane door shut behind you, the locks automatically engaging. In the spacious cabin, Misaka is cheerfully cuddling what looks like a stuffed version of Tiny Pete, complete with foam tusks and spikes. Midori is in her own seat, carefully buckling herself up and clearly avoiding eye contact with you.

You settle into your seat as the pilot in his cabin begins to speak over the PA system, telling you to get ready for takeoff, and that fastening your seatbelts should be a priority. You do so, but not before taking out your own volume of Miracle Midori x Murder Mayumi, placing the shrinkwrapped manga on your lap.

You ignore the choking sound coming from Midori's seat as you secure your seat belts.

It's going to be an interesting flight, at least.

Speaking of measurements, someone mentioned Kyouko being bigger than Chiaki without realising that that would mean Chiaki would have to be pretty flat. And if we go by Chiaki being a Homura lookalike, then that would be wrong as the Homura is actually bigger than Kyouko. Don't make me find those measurement calculations.

Eyes sleepy, Chiaki couldn't tell what had awoken her. She remembered getting back home late from a mission and crawling into bed, but by then the bar she had stopped at on the way back had kicked in.

Groaning a little, she attempted to roll over to check the time on the clock, but met resistance almost immediately. 'Ah'. It appeared like she had been glomped once she fell into bed. Reaching down, she pulled at the hands wrapped around her body, attempting to dislodge them a little.

'Uh uh.' Iori groaned sleepily from behind, apparently annoyed that she had been disturbed. Wiggling a little more trying to slip out, Chiaki sighed as the octopus grip tightened. Head thumping down in defeat, she decided that it wasn't worth it just to know how late she had come in this time.

Dozing off minutes later, visions of the most creative ways to main Kyubei pulling her back into slumber, she vaguely noted that the hands were moving, little spider steps slowly crawling up her skin. Pushing the thought aside, she decided that high explosive rounds would be perfect when she was suddenly yanked right back into full consciousness by the fingers stopping at mid chest, slowly playing with sensitive parts.
>>
NEXT TIME, ON MGNQ:

[] Turn the pages slowly and deliberately. Read every page intently with a slight frown.

[] Lean over and ask Midori's opinion as you go along.

[] Take out a pen and start circling anatomical errors, continuity errors, and other details not in-line with reality. Write and underline arbitrary numbers on the bottom of each page.

Stiffening in embarrassment, she tried to jerk forward to disentangle herself. She had gotten used to being cuddled during the night, but this was new! "He-hey! Quit that!" Pushing forward, the action only seemed to increase the pressure on her chest.

She couldn't get free. The hands seemed to only grip harder, stroke more insistently, cling more fiercely, and then a sultry breath of whisper in her ear... "Now, why would I do that Ho-mu-ra-chan?"

Chiaki froze cold.

A faint scent pricked at her nose, cloying and sweet.

"No, I think I like where I've got you." The stroking changed, fingernails lightly scraping her delicate skin.

"You certainly toyed with my heart back then, you know." The breath had slide lower, drifting over her neck.

"A girl's feelings are a delicate thing, not to be treated lightly." The words were murmured directly into the base of her neck, nuzzled into her collar.

"I think it's fair, then..." The fingers shifted, nails pricking at the center of her chest.

"Why can't I play with yours?" Chiaki gasped in pain, vision going white, as daggers tore open flesh and bone.

With a grunt of terror, she shot forward in her seat, gasping loudly in the quiet cabin, gripping her armrests in a white knuckle grip.

Misaka and Midori paused their argument, spinning around in their seats to look back at their friend with wide eyes. "Are... you alright Matsuda-sempai?" "Murderface, you fell asleep! Bad mares of the night time?"

Dragging in a deep breath of processed air, Chiaki blinked her eyes open, confirming that she was still on the plane to Siberia. Looking at the other two, she groaned a little, rubbing her temple with one hand. "Just... just a dream. I'm... I'm fine."

She glared at their concerned looks, grabbing her half full glass of lukewarm whiskey off the drink holder in front of her. Taking a big gulp, she closed her eyes and placed her forehead against the cool glass, trying to steady her breathing.

'Just... just a dumb dream...'

It wasn't bad, so much as it read like the work of a high schooler. >>
>>20304732
The impression I got was that Mami having a secret relationship is canon, whilst the exact details the dude was writing may not be. Only really Deculture can tell us that, and I'm guessing he'll be happy to leave it ambiguous, so those who don't like it can safely ignore it. Unless he's going to reappear with an answer ?
>>
>>20304753
I think everyone had 2 problems with it:
1. It influenced the main story without anyone else's input. If he just wrote about some other characters not in the main story and didn't affect the main story I doubt anyone would really care.
2. It wasn't written particularly well either.
>>
>>20304789

How has it affected the main story though?

...
Why am I defending this dude? Fuck it. Yeah, I agree, he was pretty terrible, but fan fic writers will fanfic.
>>
>>20304802
he has Mami sucking his gary stu cock because he wanted her too?
>>
>>20304789

I think this pretty much nails it. It's one thing to claim fanfiction, because no one cares if your accurate or not. If it's canon, though, then you HAVE to care because its official.

That's not really 'fair' to the other players, though, if you start calling dibs on characters. Quests by nature this is a real faux pas

>>20304802
It hasn't, and we've safely ignored it. But it looks like it might just now that Mami is asking us to hit this dude.
>>
>>20304802
It introduced a new character to the "canon" who was (and might still be) married to Mami. Also, I think he rescued a few characters from Kilgore's bloodbath, but I doubt anyone cares about that.

It's minor but it still annoys people. Going off of the other fanfiction writes in SWQ and other such quests, people tend to care less as long as the fanfiction is completely separate from the main quest.
>>
Wait, wait. Isn't Mami 14 or 15 years old?

If the guy is flying the plane, isn't he an adult?

I'm not sure which is creepier; she's actually 15, or the whole being-a-secret-lich thing means that she's an adult woman in a 15-year-old body.
>>
>>20304840
I think the characters have all been aged a few years. So Mami's like 18 or something, still a little young to be married though. And I'm not sure if Matsuda is drinking underage or not. Depends on her specific age and what the local laws are.
>>
>>20304840

No, Deculture has told us we've upaged some. Mami is 19-20, Matsuda is 17-18, Misaka is... 13-14, I think? Iori is 15-16, and the other Madoka girls are about Chiaki's age.
