At 12:00pm GMT, frequenters of 4chan living in that time zone, heard an ominous message in an unnatural and inhuman seeming voice; and no one else could hear it. That message said simply, "one hour". Some instinctively gathered supplies and equipment, not knowing exactly to expect. Despite the warnings, and the vague sense that they would be leaving earth as the hour passed, others panicked and refused to accept the message. At 1:00pm GMT, everyone that had used the website in the last three months was removed from the planet earth in bright flashes of light. In each time zone, as clocks struck 12:00pm, identical events took place. Once those on the eastern United States disappeared, the rest of the world began to believe.

You're one of these people, you've been given the carrying capacity of 90.00 Kilos or half of that plus one other human being that you personally can reach within the time. What do you bring with you? Who do you bring with you? How do you survive?
>>
>>20357575
No matter what particular time they left earth, the members began to reappear in waves upon an alien world. The members were organized by the board they were most attached to, if they cared for none of them, they simply were clumped with whatever board they most visited. Each board had a unique starting area of roughly 150 to 250 square miles and grew with each wave. Only 5% of a board's total population was in the first. These were mostly in large bands placed far apart from one another, though there were always stragglers. The next waves started small, adding 1.25% of the board's total population to the area in smaller bands then before. The next was 1.6%, after that, 1.9%, and so on spreading further and further out. This resulted in frequent power struggles as fresh technology, people and resources clashed with establish power structures forming in the wastes of alien ruins. The capabilities of the people in each wave varied wildly as people from all walks of life found themselves in both unknown and dangerous territory as the world was cultivated by humankind.

The land populated by the denizens of the Traditional Gaming board known as /tg/, is a harsh, wooded, jungled and mountainous region filled alien ruins, dangerous beasts, deadly diseases and drenching weather. To the west lies a vast wooded area, dark and foreboding. To the east, the ocean, and perhaps other humans. To the north, a foreboding mountain range. And finally, to the south, plains and marshland. The largest settlement formed in ruins near a river high in the hills where the winds are fierce and strong

Damn. How many of these threads were made this week?

Well that's weird. So basically there's no guarantee we're even the first humans there when we port? We could end up dealing with the survivors of previous waves and their bullshit?

Too fucking many

I find a suitcase nuke and destroy as much of this shitty copypasta as I can
>>
>>20357638
dude, try actually reading past the inital pasta, this is rather novel and doesn't really bear much except for the archetype to the island threads.
>>
I live on a busy street next to a large shopping center. I'd probably write off the ONE HOUR as something booming from someone's stereo system, you hear a lot of weird little snippets of stuff.

I also don't think NERDS DISAPPEARING would be news that would make it across the ocean right away - people wouldn't think "Hey Joey's missing ALERT EEEEVERYYYYOOOOOONE!", at the bare minimum there wouldn't be any reports before I go to sleep. I live on the eastern seaboard of the US, so chances are I'm asleep in my bed. Ergo I come to this new world naked, unarmed and probably really angry.

...I kinda feel worse for everyone else on this new planet.
>>
>>20357648
I read it, still shitty pasta that is worse than quest threads because it is a bunch of fa/tg/uys deluding themselves that they could do anything other than contract a diseases and die in a pool of their own intestines, If they are lucky that is.

well the usual I guess.

Backpack loaded with non-perishables, A few good knives, My walking stick, cold weather gear including a cloak I have that's wonderful for cool wet weather. Um, I'd take the cat but that's fixed so I'd just be dooming the poor thing. May as well run into the streets grab everything I can from the pharmacy that's not tied down.

And then spend the rest of the time not getting arrested.

how's it worse than MSQ quest? I dare you point out one aspect that's worse than that piece of filth.

>>20357686

>>
I ask this again, isn't this the same world where the safest thing to eat is the moss?
>>
>>20357707
Easy, in this people are deluding themselves that they could survive outside of confines of a city when they can barely function outside of their own room or local game shop.

MSQ is cancer but it isn't as bad as this masturbatory fantasy by dint of not being a circle jerk about how good we would all do in this situation which would actually be a death sentence.

>>
>>20357748
Actually I don't, I work in construction, bathe daily and weigh less than half that. I go hunting and fishing enough that I could sustain myself living on the land for a short period of time.

In this situation there is no one who frequents this board who could actually do more than die horribly due to disease, natural flora or fauna or just bad luck
>>
>>20357776
you do realize that with a little as much as it pains me to say. Common sense or hell team work could survive readily right? Yes there will be die offs, I mean for fucks sake there's a die off every time a species enters a new habitat but some will survive and more than you would think. People are a canny animal there's a reason why we're on every continent on this planet. Given the option of live or die I get the feeling most pick the former. Disease is only an issue if you're not a healthy individual its what disease does, takes out and exploits the members of the population that can't hold their own.

You're the sort of guy that thinks the middle ages were a period where everyone in Europe was covered in their own filth aren't you?
>>
>>20357776
with a mentality like that yes, we would die out. You've got no faith in human livability if you're a construction worker you of all people should know we're tough bastards. I've worked alongside masons as a tender and those assholes are often seventy and fuel their bodies with shots of whiskey and go for sixteen hours a day.

We're tough, we're hardy and we can live off damn near anything we can fit in our mouths. I'd say we're not as boned as you like to think.
>>
So wait do we get castles and shit still?
>>
The people who think we'd construct a shining utopia and the people who think we'd immediately shit and cry ourselves to death are both wrong.

>>20357886
Just did it up with gimp I use a few tuts from Cartographers guild to pass the tests needed. I've got a few more that are nowhere near that quality actually.
>>
>>20357806
No, the middle ages were metaphorically entirely shitty but not literally. But given the vast differences in just about everything on the planet the survivors would be very few. The Spanish flu for example decimated Europe because the population had no immunity to it or any strain of it. Imagine that multiplied by a few hundred and you have the effect of a new planets worth of diseases. And trying to figure out food allergies, toxins etc without equipment is a very risky prospect.

>>20357836
We are tough if we are in good condition. cuts, breaks, fractures even sprains could be deadly in this situation because of the flora and fauna that exist or even just the natural conditions which may occur on this new planet.

And while humans can be tough we are also quite fragile if things don't go right, bones break and muscles tear or stretch quite easily if you don't use them correctly.
>>
Well this is it I guess. I mean I've got this droning count of time in my head, counting down to...what? The time I explode, turn into a mutant get abducted by aliens? Well we found out something rather interesting. Days are short as hell here. We're on the move now, all thirty of us, picking our way through what we hope is a direction towards more people. We've got a few flash lights and a couple guns which is good because we found...well I guess it's some sort of animal hanging from a tree, half eaten and looking like it was something bigs dinner. So far we haven't seen anyone else but hopes are still high as we did hear gunshots off in the distance.

Christ it feels weird to put that down. Gunshots and we're hopeful?

Well things are looking up, sorta. We found a group of people. Ten dudes that were just chilling up in some trees trying to look like they're not there. We would have walked right by if they hadn't started shouting down to us. I guess they were hiding from something, they said it looked like something out of hell itself all teeth and claws and terror.

Needless to say we're not there anymore. We've since then covered god knows how much ground, wandering aimlessly through what I can only call a jungle until we found it.

It being a collection buildings half buried in the ground. We would have missed them if not for one of the guys shouting and screaming when we he thought he saw an alien. turns out it was a statue. We've camped out in them for now. they're all stone but the workmanship is masterful. None of us can even begin to fathom just where the inhabitants are. But, on the plus side we think we found fresh water and what someone said was an edible bug...
>>
Well, that was..interesting. Turns out the bugs are not very edible but highly hallucinogenic. A few of us wandered off chasing after things we couldn't see and well, we beat the bastard red for that. Guess he thought it was a good idea because bugs are a source of protein and fat.

Idiot.

Now that that fun is over we've begun clearing out a couple of ruins and making sure nothing lives inside them. For being as old as they are they've held up shockingly well and seem to about the right size to house people even if the doors are a little taller and narrower than what we're used to.
>>
We were excavating(by excavating I mean hauling out as much crap as we could) from what we thought was a house when we found carvings. They must have eroded away above the soil but beneath they were preserved. Its our first good look at the beings that made this and they look terrifying. We can only call them carvings, though they're are more skilled than anything I've seen. They show scenes of battle almost to the Tee, there are few scenes beyond it. Wars fill whole walls, tales of mighty heroes and worse. What scenes we've seen fill us with dread. What sort of world are we living in now?
>>
is that you 008?
>>
I didn't sleep well last night, If you can even call it night. I woke up to find myself staring out of the pile of stones I had claimed with some other people into a set of eyes watching from the edge of the ruins. We've yet to really push deep into them yet but that gave me ample motivation. God only knows what the hell that was. After awhile I said screw it and got a fire going from some of the dead dry plants inside and sat there with someones replica spear on my lap. Staring back out.

This place has terrors and they are many it seems. As morning came about we heard the first crack of thunder and decided it was time to press deeper into the ruins. We're getting hungry and have started sampling what passes for fruit around here, watching things that pass for animals eat them we sample them little by little searching for food that is safe to eat.

So far we've found a greenish tuber that a lot of the animals here seem to like. It doesn't take like much but it's filling which is better than nothing I guess.

We found....something. We're not sure what to be honest. It looks like the remains of an alien, but it's humanoid in shape. Long bones and a skull that makes no sense. I've never seen anything like it to be truthful. It was just sitting in one of the ruins in a stone chair seemingly left to rot for all time and watch over it's domain.

Laying upon its lap was what must have once been a beautiful sword, the blade as long as any I've seen and the metal no corroded still carried some of the workmanship if must have once held.

We also found a tower, rising above it all the dense tree ling had hid it from us these past few days but not we can see it clearly. It's a massive structure compared to the small buildings we've seen so far. A group went to explore it today, meanwhile me and a few others have found a larger building that could with a little squeezing fit all of us in for the night. We're clearing it out and hoping for some sign of humanity.
>>
the tower held surprises it seems. A few young people( a guy and a girl in their teens and drag queen who claims to be from Kentucky) were hiding out in there. They've been here for about a week now as well. Seems they've been getting water from the lower levels of the tower and boiling it. As for food they had enough with rationing but apparently it was getting low. Our motley lot has grown it seems. In the meantime one of our people has managed to take down he's calling an imp, it's a large monkey reptile like creature. It bleeds red which I guess is a good sign. We've managed to get a cook fire going and have at least the starts of a meal since we found a bunch of those green tuber plants nearby. A few people have started clearing what looks like an old courtyard as well.
>>
We lost someone today.

I don't mean to say they're dead, rather they've up and vanished. He was a guy in his late twenties, nice enough fellow though he seemed a little off...He kept talking about his wife and wondered where she was.

Gods speed to the man.

On a lighter note someone apparently brought some booze from Earth, we've turned the largest structure we have cleared out into a store house and the courtyard is cleared enough to set up tents in. A few people are starting guard duty and a couple others have started combing the city looking for other survivors. It's looking like things are gonna okay after all.
>>
not 008 just a random writefag. Should I keep going?
>>
>>20358742
yes
>>
Why did I open my mouth? We thought things were getting better and then the heavens opened up and decided to set us back. This city apparently floods heavily. What goods we had on the ground are now soaked and we lost several tents that drifted away. Thankfully no one was hurt. But, we can hear...things off in the distance. It's an ungodly sound, like a cat being skinned alive. God, It won't shut up either.

We've moved most of us into the tower, its a bit damp but the fires hold better here and the carvings seem to keep people preoccupied. I've seen a few of us slinking off to the lower levels for some action. Can't blame them though I can't say it's a good idea at the same time.

Meanwhile someone apparently brought a copy of risk with them. We've set up bets on who's going to win. It's mostly just favors but even here we need some distractions as the rainy days roll on.
>>
Its day ten...I mean that's really about the biggest highlight. The rain's slowed to a pleasant drizzle. And we've begun the steady process of salvaging what we can from the streets. So far we've managed to get most of the stuff back but, It's still hit or miss really.

On the plus side we may have found the reason for such severe flooding a set of aqueducts and canals run through the city that we apparently had missed early on. They've become blocked up by muck and plants and god knows what else so we've begun the steady process of at least freeing them up enough to allow proper drainage. I've volunteered and have spent the past six hours clearing a blocked drainage channel on one of the smaller canal routes. We managed it and in the process scared up what I guess is a fish. It's six feet long, eel like and has no eyes but it has what looks sorta like gills.
>>
Welp, we've managed to prevent the worst of the flooding for now. This whole place is riddled with ways to keep the water out. It's impressive really how well designed this is. Even with the few channels we've reopened it's made a huge difference. By the same same token the inner city where we're now living is far better preserved than the outskirts. Those...things built this place to last it seems.

hunting parties are coming back now some with people, others with animals. A few...just aren't though. We don't know what happened to them which is depressing but, I guess it's something we'll have to live with now.
>>
I watched a man die today. He was a heavy set kid and had tried to assault one of the women who came through. he got a hand on her before she shot him.

I don't know where she got the gun from, nor do I ask. We didn't bury the body, just hauled it away from anything he could contaminate with his rotting bulk. We got the gun from her after that and she's currently a wreck. I don't think she realized the safety was off. On a lighter note, I thought I saw what appeared to be a chicken running about. That was not expected. A few others apparently have also seen them. We're not sure where they came from but, hey guess we're not the only terrestrial species here after all.

>>
We've found a cache of...weapons? We think they are anyways. They're bigger than anything we'd use though and more than a few are in too poor a shape to be of any use. A lot of swords, axes and spears. Some shields that have had the leather rotted out and armor that doesn't look at all like it was meant for a human body. The natives must have put these here then; God knows why.

In other news we have what appears to be a new source of food. Since the rains started we've been finding large blue fruits that seem to be filled with a jelly like compound. It's rather tasty actually and seems to be loaded with vitamins, A few of the more brainy people have started looking into other similar sources, we've also maintained a steady hunting/fishing train for now. Someone also got their first good look at what we can only assume is a predator. A massive beast with a skull like face, mixes the worst parts of a dinosaur and tiger from what he said.

A group followed the aqueduct out into a less forested area, it would seem that it gets out on some flat land a few miles from here and sticks to a valley floor. I wonder why they didn't build the city there?
>>
A manchild lost his mind today. We're not entirely sure why. But he tried attacking one of us with one of the alien swords yelling what I guess was klingon. Between the thirty people there he managed to lacerate one of them.

That bastard was beat senseless and sent to help a team clear out another aqueduct. We seem to have also started a farm now that we're getting used to the rain and constant feeling like we're ready to shit our pants.
>>

We think we've found the last of the people in the city, at least for now. Many of them were just sort of lost out in the portions that were still pretty much uninhabitable. Meanwhile talks have started about using the tower as a base of operations for what I guess is a government. We've also had a man start what appears to be the worlds first still as what he has fermented is looking more than a little hellish.

Personally, I've been working with the work crews and running water up and down to them. It's not as bad as one would think and certainly passes the time. With all of us working together we've managed to get one of the main aqueducts flowing fully again. And even got a few logs for our trouble. They're already getting cut and blocked up for use as firewood for the cook fires. Though we're also working on simple sleds and carts to haul supplies with more easily.
>>
WOW. Some people in this thread really have little faith in our species. Teamwork motherfucker. That's the formulae to survival.
>>
Trying to save paper for right now. But, I figured I should at least make an entry on the twentieth day of survival on this planet. We've started something that has the makings of success. Our little hold fast is growing bit by bit. We've now got people cultivating plants from this world, if not in proper fields then where we find them. I personally can claim at least one fruit producing vine as my own since it's been found growing on my domicile/dorm/shanty. And that's the strange part. We've been given ownership of what we find to an extent.

We have a central depot now, and if they want it. They get it, we don't question them for a very good reason, they're holding onto the porn. I joke but its the way things are working out. We're falling into patterns that we enjoy. I know guy named john that is down at the 'bar' every now and again and he seems dead set on exploring the place. That's not my style, I like the town, I want to make it flourish before we explore so I'm staying here and helping it grow.
>>
>>20359436
you get used to it. Though I've gotta say I like this writefag if just because things seem like they're ready to break at any moment.
>>
Well, that was unexpected. We apparently aren't the only ones here. We have a guy who apparently managed to cobble together a HAM radio from parts in the depot. When he got it running for a few brief moments we heard what appeared to be an S.O.S. signal, then, nothing. We're not sure where it came from from or who made the signal but, its a sign albeit a strange one.

We've also had a run into some of the local wildlife. Large six legged brutes that have a scales like an alligator on their back. They payed us no heed though I can't say I appreciated a herd of ten of the dopey beasts sitting in town square making noise till the next sunrise.
>>
I've been called into central supply as it's called now to see where I should be sent to work. I can't say I like it much but, they're the ones with the gear and well it works.

They've been talking with what I guess are the 'scouts' a rag tag bunch of people that pulled their skills set and inclination to wander in as well. Apparently I've been drawing attention with my habit of writing down entries in a journal. They're sending me out it would seem to record findings with an expedition.

What. The. Hell.

We've left the city, at sunrise and have since been on the move for...three hours? Wildlife we have encountered has been mostly harmless, however we have found spoor of larger predators in the area and have been advised to keep quiet.

Currently stopping for breakfast, instant coffee and a few handfuls of what we assume to be a local nut. Possibly insect eggs, hard to tell with this place.

Encountered one of the large local predators today. After climbing into a tree, we were forced to sit and watch as the beast circled around us, easily twelve feet long from snout to tail it actually tried knocking the tree over by repeatedly bashing it with it's bony tail. We were forced to wait for six hours, a few of us had weapons mostly in the shape of re-curve bows that did little to deter it. one member of the party used a flare to frighten it as the night wore on. Since then we have been on a steady move and I write this while we are perched in a tree once more, waiting for sunrise.

Creature has since been called a yowler, it seems to hunt in these forests and is an ambush predator. Six legged like most members of animal life here it has a bony face and smells rancid. Seems to possess a rudimentary almost malign intellegence and reminds me most of tigers and other large cats from Earth.

We made it back in one piece. Barely, our clothes what little we had with us are now shreds. our bows have lost their springiness and I've managed a fractured leg. Hmm... Wish I had a brita water filter. I'll grab some aspirin, my medications, painkillers, bandages, neosporin, rubbing alcohol, shaving razor, toothbrush... baking soda and club soda.

Then I'd sit pretty for the rest of the 15 minutes I have and grab a few books as an afterthought. Grab my kindle too, since offline access to wikipedia. Then I'd be away to this alien planet with the combined knowledge of all of humanity and enough supplies that I'll really only die if I'm an idiot.

Journal Entry 1

Hello Lenore. Alright, all Scouts and Rangers have been tasked with keeping track of their encounters or unusual circumstances in writing for the archives now that we can produce our own "paper." It's not the best quality but it'll do. We've been expecting fourth wave any time now so all patrols have been out at maximum range with plans to slowly sweep inward in a circle, picking up anyone who wanders off in the wrong direction before they get lost, killed or try founding their own village in one of the ruins. We've had unnecessary trouble with that in the past. So, here I am. Ranger captain with 2 novices, a scout and two medics under my command, and we're parked out at the north eastern edge of the mountains with enough food for three times our number. The area is mapped out well enough except the northern passage, a valley between the mountains and the coast that goes north into who knows where. I'm going to wait 2 days and then begin our patrol. We should make it back to Kog in a week's time, more if we have a whole train of new arrivals with us. I know some of the other rangers will look down on them, but I know the feeling all to well. I was a second waver and still remember clearly being scared shitless, unprepared and having to be saved by a pack of outriders from a yowler.
>>
Journal Entry 2

My scout spotted a campfire last night during his watch. We assumed it was new arrivals and moved in to greet them but something felt wrong and there was a smell in the air, something rotting. We snuck in instead and observed. There were 20 or so people all around a series of campfires. They weren't in fresh clothing either, they all looked dirty and their clothing torn. Many had old wounds that hadn't healed right and they were all armed with knives. What's more, they were carrying banners with them, an awesome face made in blood. A chaos cult? We've had problems with them in the past but I was sure we had wiped them out. Perhaps they wandered in from another territory. We figured it best to avoid contact and withdrew back to our camp and muffled the fire. We'll keep watch from a distance and observe. They appear to have a hostile disposition. If they were fewer in number, we'd of confronted them, but I'm not comfortable with that many.

There was a lot of noise from their camp come morning. Apparently a yowler wandered in and killed a few of them only to be torn apart by the survivors. Unusual behavior but not unexpected from a yowler. The survivors cut up the dead, yowler and human, and had their breakfast. Definitely hostile. Around noon, a larger group met up with them from the northern passage. A much larger group of at least a hundred, all with the same banner. I get the feeling that there are a lot more on the way. I think we're being invaded. Just as I was about to ditch the mission and start heading back home as fast as we could, a group of four newbies just blundered into camp. It has started.

Journal Entry 4

We have two male teenagers, Mike and Shaun, a hambeast in his early twenties and a housewife around forty named Rose. What was she even doing on 4chan? We had to shut them up quick and make up a fast explanation. They didn't bring anything we could immediately use or even a weapon outside of some stainless steel knives. The housewife did bring some seeds though. We were going to have to take them with us. According to them, they've been here since yesterday, ran into each other and have been moving east to the coast. So they were going in the wrong direction. They had some run-ins with a few imps and dragonrats. Nothing too dangerous but enough to scare them. Unfortunately, in the time it took to explain the situation, a scout team of invaders crashed into our camp and started yelling and screaming to draw their friends. Hambeast got a good gash across his head before we could put them down. He'll live.

Journal Entry 5

Our newbies don't know how to move through the woods and we've got the attention of another scout party with the larger main force right behind them. We've set a few small traps behind us as we continue on, but they're always just an few minutes behind us, chasing us down while howling bloody murder or randomly breaking into song. Hambeast is really slowing us down too but fear of what's behind us and adrenalin is keeping him going. The others aren't doing much better except Rose who has this weird smile on her face like she's on a field trip. We're moving west along the forest bordering the mountains. According to my map, there should be a waterfall we can refill our canteens at and if things get rough, we can cut into the mountains and slip around past an old fort and emerge by the mining encampment. God I hope I survive this.
>>
Journal Entry 6

Somehow they got ahead of us. We nearly stumbled into an ambush but a group of newbies beat us to it. I'm not sure what their trap was but a group of six lost newbies blundered into it and were in a terrified pitched battle that didn't last more then a few minutes. We wouldn't of been able to get to them in time either way but we knew where the enemy was and we had to do something. I sent one of our medics and our newbies to the waterfall. The rest of us lined up, we fired three volleys into their position with our recurve bows and moved 90 degrees to flank them with sword and firearm while they rushed forward in a frothing, bloody frenzy. I had spent nearly a year practicing to use this stupid guild issued sword but I never used it on anything until today. There were ten of them left. All of us came out of it with an injury but nothing too serious, nothing our medic couldn't patch up. We even took a prisoner and looted as much as we could. One of the dead newbies had a 9mm but had burned up all his ammo in the fight. We also pilfered some knives, sunglasses, soap and shaving razors. I wish we had time to bury the newbies but we really don't. I can already hear the larger force a few miles away.

Journal Entry 7

Our prisoner is quite insane. From what I gathered of his ramblings, he's from /b/. First official contact with another board and they're insane cannibals. Apparently, their population grew too fast to sustain apparently. By second wave, they had around a million people in one area and no food. Things went down hill from there. So some split off and wandered until this group stumbled into our territory. He says it's taken over a month to get here. Just great. An invasion in the middle of a newbie wave. Anyways, we got what little we could and I put him down. We have rules about people like him. Our newbies were horrified. This broke the illusion some of them were holding on to that this was a funtime adventure for all ages. There were protests and long winded arguments. They don't understand. We have a civilization to protect. We can't babysit the psychopaths or even attempt to psychologically heal them, we have to remove them before they kill more. This is a dangerous world and they'll find that out soon enough.
>>
Journal Entry 8

We found more newbies, three of them, in the middle of being attacked by a family of imps. We chased off the imps and confronted them. It took some convincing to get them to join us. Our original newbies all look shell shocked and the rest of us are covered in bruises, bandaged cuts and scrapes and we all look exhausted, especially the hambeast who may be having a heart attack as I write this. Will, Milo and Geoff, all in their 20's. They have a small caliber hunting rifle, possibly a .22, a worthless replica katana, a tree branch saw converted into a half-assed spear and lots of clothing, medical supplies and all the gurps books. Like a whole box full of them. Way to go champ. I'm going to cut south and hopefully evade the next enemy scout team. In other news, we're getting low on food already. Someone is sneaking seconds.
>>
Journal Entry 9

We haven’t been getting enough sleep at night, some of us haven’t been getting any. The newbies are having a lot of problems with the sounds of the wilds and the occasional glimpse of something moving in the dark. When I got up in the morning, hambeast was gone with the replica katana. He somehow snuck away without anyone noticing. The scout on watch was embarrassed. Damn novices! How exactly did this happen? We did a quick search and found his trail which lead west, the direction we're going. We'll either run into him again, his corpse or he'll find another outrider team. This does speed us up though. Rose was just kind of sobbing the whole time about it. She's kind of been treating us as her kids and to have one go missing is a pretty hard hit. I guess this is her coping mechanism. Mine was drinking and jitterbugs but I got past that once I joined up with the Rangers.
>>
Journal Entry 10

We found another Outrider group. No sign of hambeast. We updated them on the situation. They had started by the old salt camp and were on their way back in with 4 newbies. We're sending our extra food, scouts and two medics with the newbies back to Kog while the rest of us form up and figure out how to slow down the invading force and get a proper count of their numbers. The main force is not far behind us but they keep sending out scouting parties. Well, they aren't really scouting parties, more like random kill teams. They act insane individually but they use actual tactics to some degree. They must have some leadership mixed in there somewhere. Someone giving orders. We're going to get closer and recon. Meanwhile the team heading back will inform leadership of the problem and we can get organized and send out a force to end this.
>>
Journal Entry 11

We came across another enemy scout team and ambushed them and booby trapped the area with some old yowler traps our hunters use. The area's been properly marked so anyone from the scout or ranger organization will realize what's going on here. We've circled around and are heading for the main force from the side. It looks like they've stopped their forward march and have been holding position for the last few days in the woods. Well, what's left of the woods. They've ransacked the whole area. Trees cut down, everything remotely edible harvested, bonfires set everywhere. We got as close as we could and still keep cover and observed them. Their numbers have grown quite a bit. There's several hundred now all in small camps of twenty or so. I think we spotted the leadership caste, looks like anyone with a firearm or weapon larger then a knife, each with their own camp of minions. This shit is insane.

Holy shit you are back??

Journal Entry 12

How I wish we had some radios to talk to HQ with. It would make things so much easier. There's just some technology that we have to do without. Hell, I'm still impressed that someone managed to build something to recharge our rechargeables. Speaking of which, my ipod's battery is officially dead and I can't recharge it until we get back to Kog. Sucks. The first and second wave pushed back the wilds and built a civilization, made farms to keep us all fed, walls to keep us safe and the guilds to keep things stable. It's not perfect and would be considered pretty barbaric back on Earth but this is as good as it's going to get for a long time and most of us have come to accept that. Then there's these assholes. They want to take that all away and destroy it. Well fuck them. We were here first.
>>
Journal Entry 13

We split our team up evenly and kicked off a campaign of guerrilla warfare. I led my group, in the night, to one of the smaller groups while they slept and slit some throats. It didn't go as well as planned; we only got two of them before the others started waking up. We evacuated quickly with a few bow shots at anyone who looked our way. At the same time, the other team started launching volleys at several of the groups on the east edge of their camp drawing attention away from what we were doing. When the majority of the camp started moving in their direction, we fired a few volleys into their backs to keep them confused. We pulled out before the hoard realized they could split up and hid in a covered foxhole we had dug earlier well away from the enemy. The other team has their own. We'll meet up later.
>>
Journal Entry 14

Our hidden foxhole wasn't hidden good enough. One of the enemy scout groups found us. I woke up to the sound of one of the novice on guard duty getting stabbed to death. There were 20 or so of them with more on the way. I grabbed what I could and emptied my pistol into the lot of them before turning and making my escape. I manged to lose them but I had taken a hit. I didn't even realize it until the adrenalin wore off. A big slice across my side where my tortolo armor doesn't cover. It hurts like a son of a bitch. I tore up my shirt to use as a bandage. As long as I don't come across a hungry yowler or another enemy scout pack, I might be alright. I don't know if any of the others got out of there. I know for sure that one novice is down. I don't know how many of the enemy went down but a whole magazine of .45's went into them. I got my pack, arrows, my emergency knife and sword. Looks like I forgot to grab my bow. God damn it.
>>
Journal Entry 15

I passed out for awhile and woke up in the hands of two newbies. Tamera and Joe. They've been out here for a few days, lost, scared and hungry. Luckily Tamera was a doctor in training and brought a med kid. I got stitched up and re-bandaged. I had to explain to them what was going on first though. It took awhile, there's a lot to say. They initially took me as some medieval warrior or something until they saw some of the modern gear I had on me. They got the picture. I split some rations with them and we're on our way to Kog, slowly. Don't want to tear open these stitches.
>>
Journal Entry 16

We met up with the survivors of my team. One novice ranger and a medic. They were pretty beaten up too. The novice lost a few fingers from a knife in the tussle to get away. He's bandaged up and so high on painkillers he can barely remember his own name. I'm lightheaded from blood loss and in pain and we have two newbies. What a group we are. I'm pretty sure we're being followed to boot. We're a few days away from Kog and have been moving south west. We probably won't find anymore newbies but I'm hoping we'll find another scout team on their way out unless they're being recalled to deal with the invasion. Fucking injuries, I need to be out there. I hope the other team is doing better or are still alive.

Journal Entry 17

Had a long talk with the newbies today over the dangers of this place, of the things we've already been through. Xenoadaption, blackeye and the local wildlife, the civilization we built and what we know of the civilization we're building on top of. Some of the things we've already struggled through like the chaos cults, the annexation of Rivertown and Cadia and the great Mazda hunt. Anyways, until we're beyond the walls of Kog, we're still in danger, plus we're still being followed. I'm pretty sure this group is trying to find out exactly where our city is by following us there. We're going to have to do something about that but we're not in the best shape.

Well it would seem shit has officially gone from bad to worse. We got a runner today at the current salt camp recalling all troops. Looks like it's a war.

Huh, somewhere I became a patriot for a nation with no name.

Soon as we get back, we got told to arm up and head on out. We've got what amounts to the best armor we can make. A Builder suit of what we think is plate that's been modified for the human body. Shit's a lot lighter than it looks. Crazy bird people knew how to build their gear I guess. We've been relayed out to the mountain fortress along with the forces of Rivertown.

Fuck that place, last time I was there all I could get was their knock off of Kog vodka. But, they're good soldiers all the same and the mountain fortress, bless the builders is right on the main and really only sane roadway into kog. Any other way takes you too close to the nightmare forest or all the way to the coast which this time of year is practically a death sentence.

Whoever came up with the name for here, I will find you. And I will punch you. Repeatedly.

It looks like we get to live up to our name. In the distance we can see fires, massive ones and also drums echoing across the land their beat makes no sense, no pattern. Its pure chaos to us and has my men...my guard on edge.

We've been told to repel them and do it at all possible costs. Well, Damn good thing we've still got a few tricks up our sleeves. The builders made this town a veritable fortress, the tower rising high gives us a place to fire from. The walls hard, granite and beyond a thunderbeast impossible to take down stand tall. My men garrison them now, calling out to those in the wilderness, the fourth wavers, who have never known the terror, bringing them to the light of civilization and uniting them under our banner. Every now and then when I'm walking the lines I hear someone mutter Creed under their breath. I can't help but to smile given what I've got waiting in the wings for these assholes who can't play the drums.

They call it 'the first battle of Cadia', the day the walls held. I call it the second longest day of my life.

At sunrise they attacked, at first a rag tag group of idiots, maybe twenty. They lay out in the field now, dead with the rest that came steadily at us. Screaming and yelling and trying to climb the walls. It was a fraction of their strength I see this as I look out from the tower's windows and see still more fires in the darkness. I lost no men today, hell I didn't even worry about wasting ammo we used arrows the entire time. My sharpshooters sit ready though, their scopes trained outward, ready to pop off a shot if they need to. Most of them though are a pitiful lot diseased wretches that look like they haven't had a bath in months.

Fucking drums, they've started again. In Response some of the men off duty have started playing our own along with horns and guitars to drown out the sound. We've sent the rest the civilians beyond the medical corps away to Kog for now. God speed they didn't get spotted.

The battle how now waged almost twelve hours straight. My throat is raw from shouting orders and my men and women are ready to pass out on their feet but, we are holding. I've even managed to throw a few surprises these bastards way. They didn't expect to run into three penned yowlers I had moved out the night before.

Why do we have penned yowlers? Why for this very reason. Not really we had caught them for study but, this seemed a better use of the brutes. The carnage they inflicted on the raiders was a sight to behold, each tearings it way through the forces that it ran into with reckless abandon. All the while my sharpshooters perched high and away picking off anyone with what appeared to be a gun or any sort of power to lead what I sadly call troops. I've yet to bring out the big guns even. The bastards seem to think with sheer bodies they'll break these walls. And to that I laugh and challenge them from atop my tower. Aping the carvings I've seen of the builders doing the same, sword held high on the sunrise, my plumed helm(I was a roman reenactor) atop my head and my war cry echoing across the field.
>>
>>20371331

Well this sucks. We've been perched up here in the damn pass for well over a week now taking potshots at the stray group of what has been dubbed barbarians with little to show for it. It's looking like their main force isn't headed this way. Which is fine by me given since we've been here I've had to hide in the fort while a damn 'dragon' circles the area picking off anything out in the open. After three fucking years you'd think they'd be done attacking people but NOPE. Something about us makes them terribly pissed off.

Alright, I'm awake.

Journal Entry 18

We found hambeast. He's still alive. He wandered right into yowler territory and got ambushed by a freshly hatched adolescent. It wasn't big enough to do enough damage to kill him due to his size. On the other hand, hambeast's fake katana snapped on the first swing. According to him, he fell over onto it, grabbed on and suffocated it with his weight. He's terribly embarrassed about it but I'm impressed. He killed a fucking yowler and he hasn't even made it to the city yet. He's covered in cuts and we're out of bandages so the medic tore up one of his spare shirts and used the fresh yowler ichor to treat the wounds. Smells beyond terrible. I cut some trophy claws off for him and we're dragging his ass off with us. This slows us down even more and adds yet another injured to the group but I don't care at this point. We're on the edge of yowler territory and being chased by enemy scouts and just about out of rations. I don't care about much of anything at this point.
>>
Journal Entry 19

We're in familiar territory now. I patrolled the shit out of this area when I first joined the rangers and Kog is a few hours through the woods. This is the end right here. I was gong to send the newbies ahead to kog with the injured novice, turn around and try and stop the scouts following us but they refused and wanted to help. They want to fight for a city they've never been in. That's great. It increases our odds some. We're not armed all that well. The injured novice has his bow and sword but can't wield them with his hand in the condition it is or with all the drugs in his system. The medic isn't trained for combat, Tamera's a doctor and Joe's a damn WW2 reenactor. Josh/hambeast doesn't have any useful skills outside of suffocating a yowler. What we have are two swords and some salvaged combat knives. What we don't have is ammo for the guns or a bow. We turned some of the salvaged knives into quick and dirty spears with duct tape Joe had and some tree branches. This is definitely going to tear my stitches. We must be fucking insane..
>>
Journal Entry 20

Still alive. There were 17 of them. They didn't expect us to come running out of the brush with a battlecry. I don't remember much after that. I just know that it was a hell of a fight and it was loud enough that we drew the attention of an early warning scout patrol that was in the area. They arrived and helped put down the last of them. My ranger novice came out unscathed, somehow, aside from his earlier injuries. My medic is dead and Joe's foot was blown off with a shotgun. Josh took several knife blows. Tamera had knife wounds to her hands. Sure enough, my stitches tore open and I'm pretty sure I was shot. We managed to get them though. The scout team dragged our sorry asses back to Kog. I passed out at some point and woke up on a clinic slab in the middle of a blood transfusion. My messengers and newbies made it back in time. I hear part of the main enemy force has already crashed against the walls of Cadia. The invaders have no idea what they're in for. This will be my last entry for awhile, HQ wants the journal to go over for any tactical information they can get from it.

And now for someone else.

Journal Log: Wave 4, Day 10.

It's been a long time since I've written one of these. So much has happened. At least I've managed to keep a tenacious hold on my sanity through all of this and found the secret to the phantom Mazda. So where are we? It's the middle of wave 4, newbies popping up all over with their fresh clothes and untraumatized minds and we're being invaded by Barbarians from the north, from beyond the mountains. The main enemy force is to the east. Most of them have splintered off to get their asses reamed by the Cadian defenses and the lunatics behind them while the remnants are looking for other cities to plunder. I understand they were harassed into a standstill by two small outrider groups, one of which made it back to Kog with some newbies. The other group is still out there presumably, or dead. Well now it's my turn. I'm leading a team of 20 made up of experienced Rangers, Scouts, combat medics and a dwarf to intercept them. My orders are to give them hell. We have a heavy loadout and some of us even got to trade in our tortolo armor for some of that modified builder plate. Shit's cash.
>>
Journal Log: Wave 4, Day 11.

We came upon a scout party that stumbled onto the salt road. We could hear them from a good mile away from all the noise they were making. We set ambush and brought them down before they knew what was happening. I tried interrogating one that was still alive but got nothing useful out of them. Mindless babbling. It's almost worse then a chaos cult member, at least they can form coherent sentences. I don't want to know what circumstances would drive a human being into this state. He was put out of him down and we moved on. We don't have time for mercy.
>>
Well, the commander is currently in a hospital bed. After issuing what he thought would be a rousing war cry he got shot in the leg for his troubles. On the other hand, hes fighting hte medics to get back to the wall and continue the fight and has even had us set up a relay of messengers to bear his orders from bedside to battlefield.

Damn man's insane or a genius hopefully both at this point. We've had another wave come in over the night much larger than the last and trying to still scale the walls. For their trouble we gave them pots of boiling water over the side as well as set loose a few more of the trapped animals we had stashed away including six imps and three scale wolves. The commander seemed pleased they did their work though we're still holding our trump cards back and have had the forges working night and day to get the last pieces in place.
>>
>>20376501

Well somehow they got a battering ram to the gates. Wasn't expecting that but, I've held the surprises off long enough. We had johnson, one of tallest most gangly motherfuckers we could find hop into the new toy today. It's really only a terror weapon but you should have seen their faces when a goddamned twelve foot tall giant made of blue-black metal strode into the battle swinging an axe the size of a picnic table! Fuckers looked like they'd seen the face of god and the devil all in one sitting. Sad part is we only had one mote and that's deader than a doornail now. But, we managed to drive them off and didn't loose anything to vital and still have plenty of ammo coming in. So it could be worse.

On a side note we've dubbed the Armor Invicta, Johnson has started calling himself the first and only member of Legio Invicta.

Damn 40k getting into my wars.

Journal Log: Wave 4, Day 12

We found the main force. It looks like they're ignoring the fort we assumed they would seize for strategic purposes and, you know, a roof over their heads. They're too busy consuming the whole damn forest to bother with that. The place looks like it's being strip mined. They're eating everything they can chew and burning the rest. We quietly took down a few that had wandered away from the main camp and set out looking for signs of the outrider group that may still be out here. They could of always retreated to the fort and joined up with the force there I suppose. We're going to set up some surprises for them in the night and start our attack.
>>
Journal Log: Wave 4, Day 13

I had Ulrist, our dwarf, dig a shit load of pits which we filled with sharpened wooden stakes the rest of us were making through the night. We made punji pits, about thirty of them and smeared the stakes with shit. They're marked well enough that any Ranger worth a damn could recognize them. Come sunrise, we lined up and started firing archery volleys into their camp while making a shitload of noise. When they got up and started their barbarian charge, we pulled into the shadows of the remaining tree line and moved to their left flank. We heard the screams of those that found our little surprises not long after and their abrupt silence when their friends decided they were now emergency rations. They scattered, looking for us, but we were already withdrawing from the field until things settled down. A few groups did stumble on to us and were put down quickly and the bodies buried under leaves and bushes to cover our tracks.

We endure for now. There's no real pattern to the attacks. This is a horde not an army. At the rate they're going they'll starve themselves out. I've deployed forces along the only major arterial inland and have started to push against them. My men and their dwarves creating pit falls and dead fall traps along their way. Our current plant is to drive them coastwards and shove them against the ocean with any luck they'll break and flee so that we only have small pockets of enemies instead a single horde. In the men time we now have a steady supply of what amounts to pitch thanks to someone getting creative with some tree saps and a fire. they'll feel out fury and burn for their transgressions.
>>
Well apparently someone's causing trouble.
we had gotten word from one of our scouts the dumb bastards snuck right around us somehow. Well good for them. We're currently reconning and seeing if we can't locate our friendlies before its too late. We're also rather stupidly making it obvious to the horde there is food in the mountains. We plan to lure them to the bridge. Already I have men fanning a fire and roasting tortolo so that the scent can get as far as possible outside of that we've left them a nice little trail of rations, mostly just smoked meats the mining camp had stashed away in case of being stuck for whatever reason. Well, now they're luring this horde to the bridge. We'll see if tweety wants to come out and play.

oh this cannot end well for any parties involved.
>>
So wait /tg/ has three, maybe four towns under its control?

We've got Cadia sitting on the coast, Rivertown somewheres, Kog which is well our capital city and then we have the fort as well.

Journal Log: Wave 4, Day 14

The hoard got reinforcements, possibly remnants of what attacked Cadia. The hoard packed up and has been snaking all over the damn map like they don't know where they want to go. We're following at a distance. There had been a few close calls when the whole lot of them suddenly pulled a 180 and came in our direction only to change direction again. It's like following a school of fish but on land and with more knives. To make matters worse, we stumbled onto a newbie that's been out here for two weeks. Some survivalist nut armed with the most tacticool crossbow I've ever seen. We warned him of what was going on and directed him to the salt road to Kog. Under normal circumstances, I'd of sent someone to escort him but he looks like he can handle himself and we're in the middle of a war. Hell, he'll probably just wander back into the wilds again. It's not the first time we've come across loners.

Journal Log: Wave 4, Day 15

We had a full on skirmish fight today. They crashed into the mountains and were possibly looking for the road to the fort. A small group broke off and stumbled into our ambush. We set the bodies on fire to draw attention while we vanished back into the woods and waited. Sure enough, another group showed up looking for cooked meat. We put them down as well. I don't expect that trick to work again. We're currently camped out in small valley with several guys on watch up top, hiding in the trees. This is a good place to hold out. We can escape in any direction if the main force stumbles in and we have some cover if a smaller group we can handle arrives. I know the area extensively from my earlier scouting days. We have time to rest and I have time to think. This is our first contact with another board outside of those asshole boat people. I hope the other boards are doing as well as we are and are friendly. We have enough trouble on this world.
>>
So did we ever figure out who the asshole boat guys are?
>>

The fort doesn't really have a population. Cadia should be further inland then the coast and I believe Rivertown is south of Kog. But yeah, 3 cities from the first 3 waves. The fourth wave outriders were going to try and prevent anyone from founding a fourth city and just move them to Kog to keep things from getting too complicated.
>>
>>20377441
and then shit hit the fan? Makes sense I guess, what info do we have on the other boards?
>>
>>20377433
Probably one of the island based board cities. The map needs to be updated with the newer boards.

Journal Log: Wave 4, Day 16

Battle of the bridge. The hoard made a definitive move for the fort and we were right behind them. By the time they got to the bridge, we were perched on a cliff overlooking the area and then shit happened. A 'dragon' showed up and started attacking. Snatching the barbarians off the ground and either eating them or throwing them back into the rocky ground from a mile above. We took cover and stayed there. It took a few hours before the hoard managed to pin it down. We took advantage of the situation and opened fire from above and it looked like the boys at the fort had the same idea. It was a rout. The barbarians scattered in all directions with no sense of coordination. This should make cleaning them up easier. Just keep them from forming back up and take them down while they're in small groups if the wildlife doesn't do it first. We picked off some stragglers and met up with the guys at the fort. Exchanged news and got some rest. I'm taking my team back into the field tomorrow. We've got rations still and there's a job to do. I don't think this will be the last encounter with /b/ though. If we're close enough that they can just accidentally wander in as an uncoordinated group, we're bound to have another incursion sooner or later. I hope command is thinking along these lines as well.
>>
man why isn't there a drawfag doing scenes of this war?
>>
Jesus christ that's terrifying. How the hell did we manage to lure a rapedactyl into the damn war?

Bump?!

I think it just wanders through that area on a regular basis.

Oh Lenore, how I've missed you.
>>
A policy note:

This is a now standing order till further notice. Though we do not know where or who the barbarians that came through the mountain pass were. We are givne to believe they are from another boards territory. As such capture is a primary goal alongside putting them down. We will leave that up to our brave men and women as to when to do these acts. Remember Capture OR kill.
>>
Holy shit we're ruthless aren't we?
>>
I woke up today to the sounds of victory. We had for now, repulsed the threat from beyond the mountains. Broken their backs on the walls of Cadia and the mountainous lands while holding our banners high. We still have much rebuilding to do, Some of the smaller outlying areas where the loners and more benign cults exist were damaged or destroyed. There is also the fourth wave still in full swing that must be dealt with. We already are herding more and more of them back into the main cities. Uniting them to our cause before they fall under the sway of madness like others have.

There's also something else in the air. Talks of ships not made by men, ships that are sleek and alien in their design. Alongside the smaller more simple crafts we have seen from humanity on those far and distant islands.

For now though these things are off to the side. I have a day to day life outside the movers and shakers of this world. I run one of the few places that provides relief to the people of this land. I run the bar, distill the booze and provide entertainment. We run the emperor's Draft inn, the first of its kind in our humble little city of rivertown. Serving the biggest pints of what passes for beer, the greenest meanest of vodka and putting on shows for all walks of this strange land.
>>
I remember waking up. Cold, hungry not sure where I am. I remember wandering, fighting to survive in this hostile world. Being found by what I first thought were savages and being herded with a dozen others into a cordoned section of the city. Being told to wait my turn, having all my stuff taken without so much as an air of civility. I remember thinking; "These men are animals! Barbarians of the lowest kind!"

I remember the days of waiting, of being told what to do and how to do it. Of where I was to sleep, of what I was to eat and who I could and could not talk to. It was insane. And then I was given my freedom, left to wander through the remains of what was once an alien city to claim some hovel for myself and call it my new home. I recall the first days, of that as well, of me and a few others hiding out wondering how to get away from here and remake civilization as it should be.

And then that fell to the wayside, we got swept up by the savages and their ways. These 'first wavers' who now I call my kith and kin and I recall the first long days of being asked question after question now with almost a fond memory of former innocence.
>>
>>20387185

Of course, that is the past. These days I'm one of many working to prevent the slip further back into the abyss of savagery. I now help Central supply our dogged vanguard against the steady march of time that eats away at what little tech we have. I've refined and deisgned a better slab system and helped to establish the supply warehouse in Cadia, hauling our most basic of provisions for many miles. I've fought alongside my brothers and sisters on the walls of that mighty fortress city against the nightmare that could have been and have seen the giant machines that should not be here walk.

I've come to love this land and it's people. This unnamed nation of bright optimism and strange ways as I never found myself doing so in the past. We shall persevere and survive here come hell or high water.

Why does it seem like wave three was sorta lack luster compared to the first two? And well wave four is just barely going down now. Are they the cultural middle children of us or something?
>>
>>20387492
Wave Three founded Cadia but it's only been six months by the time fourth wave started. Many of them may still be finding their place. First wave had to learn to adapt or die, second wave may of been mishandled by first wave due to inexperience and spawned several chaos cults. By third wave, a plan was laid out how to handle the situation and fourth wave would of been the easiest of them all except a war kicked off in the middle of it. Fourth wave probably will have it the hardest since there was little time for explanations until it was over, they were rushed around, given a short answers and told to sit in the designated area and someone would be with them eventually while their belongings were stripped from them.
>>
>>20388487
ah true, I wonder what terrors the poor fifth wave will have to deal with really.
>>
Grab my girlfriend, a can opener, a lighter sunglasses, a trench coat, her coat, her weapons, my weapons, a couple of changes of clothing and... We'll have about 20 kilos to carry canned/dry goods at that point, which is a lot considering we both know how to hunt when we get ~there~.

Main issue is dragging a girl with me into a place that's gonna be full of channers. We can take care of ourselves though.
>>
How many waves are there going to be in total? They seem to be every 6 months.
>>
>>20389180
//youre a brave man, the best thing I can do is bring my poor roomie with me. Though I doubt he'll much appreciate it. I think there's almost twenty waves?
