Last Session- You drank in Moderation (The Bar).
Oolot and Luke are having a friendly game of pool and you're drowning a little bit of your misery and overheard about some high dollar art theft on the Citadel.

You're about halfway into your second drink when you get a call from Switch.

"I think I've got a a few buyers lined up, First is Blood Pack. They're not big on Aria or her money so I think we're pretty safe. They were wanting to meet on Garvug up in the Valhallen Threshold."

"Angry Krogans and insane Vorcha, Luke and Oolot will be all over that one." you say taking another sip of...whatever this is.

"Second is some arms dealer, didn't give too many specifics just coordinates near a gas giant, probably an old skimming station if I had to guess."

"Interesting, but likely dangerous, if anything went wrong we could be trapped in a gravity well and crushed before we could escape. Still sounds slightly less dangerous than the pack."

"And one from the Blue Suns who seem very, very eager to meet us." you can practically hear him smiling

"I'll bet they are..." a small smirk plays across your face.

"Well that's it for now...anything on your end?" Switch asks.

"Just some high dollar arts theft, may be worth looking into once my network is repaired. Aria did a hell of a number on us. I need more contacts before I can have a chance of getting into that particular venture with any degree of success." you reply remembering the trail of bodies and burning property the Queen Bitch of Omega had left in her wake. You really should try to play nicer with the fatcats.
>>
"Right, well I'm starting on crewmen right now. Luke seems to be a decent find I've been doing a bit of digging and everything he said checks out including the family interestingly enough. I tracked his assets." Switch informs you.

"Really? I'll have to keep that in mind, winning Luke's loyalty may be as easy as simply providing a job that has good pay and low risk. I haven't really seen what he can do but hey, he didn't die when Oolot hit him, that's always a good start." you say finishing off your drink

"Heh, right anyway I'll keep in touch. By the way, Aria emptied all of our accounts." Switch says kind of softly

"...fuck, I thought we'd at least have a little nest egg." you start looking for another drink, finding you're now in more dire need of one

"Well, luckily we do, as it so happens I missed a venture that we'd payed into a while ago during my house cleaning. Where we payed in for that raid on Batarian trade routes?"

"Yeah? So it was a success, damn good news." you say relaxing a little

"More than a success, not only did we take some of Hegemony's supplies we were able to resale them and made 3000 credits." Switch enthusiastically reports, "Now it's just a matter of how to spend them..."

Next let's throw 500 credits into searching for crew and we'll save the rest." you reply as you look to see Oolot looking like he is going to throttle Luke with a pool cue, you wonder if he knows Krogans hate to lose."

"Roger, I'll get on it, it may take a few hours for the guns to be repaired so you've still got some time to kill." Switch reports

"Ok, well I'll see what I can do." you reply switching off the com.

The bartender is talking to the man at the end of the bar about his business and how it's faring

The man tells him it's not faring well, all his shipments keep being hijacked by pirates. Seems to happen almost immediately after entering the traverse. From what you can pick up he supplies human colonies out there that are a little off the beaten path and they're suffering for it.
>>
>>20360154

You elect to head over to the pool table and see that Luke only has 2 balls left on the table to Oolot's 5. The krogan looks like he's about to use Luke as a pool cue if it doesn't start going more in his favor.

"Sorry to interrupt but I may have some work for us." you tell them. Oolot looks happy to have something to concentrate on other than this "stupid game".

Luke straightens up a fair bit and seems to be awaiting your word.

"We've got a guy over here that seems to be having some pirate trouble in the traverse. I'm thinking we can accept to transport his cargo and take care of this little problem is one swoop. Haven't approached him yet but I think we could stand to make a good deal." you tell them.

"As good a plan as any." Oolot shrugs and turns

"Didn't say it was any of your business." he mumbles turning away

"Oh come now, no need to be like that, I think I can help you out."

"Oh yeah? You ever deal with pirates before?"

"A few..." you flash back to Torfan, pressing your thumbs into the pirate captains eyes as he screamed.

"Well, then, I can't say I'm opposed to help. What are you offering?"

"We'll act as your cargo vessel, we're heavily armed, I doubt they'll be able to take us in a boarding action and we have suits in case they decide to just hole the ship." you tell him, "We'll kill them all and recover any your cargo we find. >>
>>20361438
What kind of guns do we have? Look into more expensive, bleeding edge military grade tech. Of course we can't afford it, but we can certainly have wet dreams over it.
>>
>>20361438
>He'll look into stealth tech.
Ah but there's a difference between stealth tech and camouflage.
Camouflage is useless against the geth since they look for ship signatures not their eyes, or whatever.
Stealth tech is used to stop the signatures being found, and is also exceedingly expensive.
While Camouflage would be very outdated therefore it may be exceedingly expensive or exceedingly cheap, however it would only be useful if we did something like, turn the ship off in space or was used for a stealth-y fast drop off.

gay corsair here. I'd argue that to match ship's new name it should have extravagant appearance to match with hopes of making opponent underestimate ship's (and pilot's) capabilities.

But black with stealth drive (good luck to us on getting that though) would be fine too.
>>
>>20361462

we've stolen the ship from blue suns, whom it served as armored freighter. It's decently armored and armed, though I suppose not on par with military vessels, check the first thread in august archives for more details. We're not very rich either.
>>
>>20361462

You have heavy AA guns on port and starboard sides that can improvised for anti-infantry duties. They shredded two Asari commandos like they were tissue. They can add Javelin launchers for 25k which will vastly improve the ships weaponry but beyond that you don't really have too much room for guns on this vessel.

>>

So we seem to be leaning towards a more serious vessel and a name change when possible.
They can do a Matte Black that will make the ship incredibly hard to spot unless you're right on top of it then the running lights would give you away at that point.
>>
>>20361584

Speaking of which this one is slightly modified, it has the standard large cargo bay, med bay, crew quarters, a mess hall, and a captains quarters. It should be able to crew up to 16 plus the captain in relative comfort so long as you set aside the space for supplies
>>
O wait, did we want to get that Hanar chef? Although I suppose that can wait until after we've completed our present job. We do have rations, right?

"So, we're going for Matte Black with an Asari Pin-up, classy..." Switch says

"Yeah, that should be fine for the moment, but I reserve the right to change my mind later on. By the way, how goes the search for crewman?"

"I've found two. One is a Hanar, he goes by Sushoo. He's apparently a great chef and a master of hand to hand combat, whatever that means for a Hanar; and the other is an unbelievable find, a Quarian mechanic by the name of Rin Z'tela nar Rayya. She's not very talkative but get this, first thing I put her to work on the guns. It's already done." Switch tells you incredulously

"What?! It should have taken at least 4 more hours to repair them." you reply mind racing.

"That's what I thought too, she's working on tuning up the ship as we speak. I've seen several power fluctuations, she seems to be doing a hell of a lot of work." Switch finishes

"Well, that won't be cheap, we need special rations." you mutter

"Sushoo has requested you allow him to worry about that, he does recommend us getting a medic as soon as possible and I'm forced to concur, she's valuable but fragile." Switch adds

"Right, well I've got us a job, so we may have to worry about that later, hopefully she can avoid combat. We'll head back shortly" you finish

Inquire about the contract with the Hanar. You've heard of it before, but you're not entirely certain why the Drell serve the Hanar.
>>
>>20362990

Several hundred years ago, the hanar made contact with the drell on their nearby homeworld of Rakhana. Drell society was quickly collapsing due to overpopulation and warring over scarce resources, so the hanar rescued several hundred thousand drell and brought them to Kahje, where they integrated into hanar society with the remaining drell dying out. Now the drell serve as a client race of the hanar, and although to outside observers the relationship can be construed as a form of slavery, the reality is very different. Drell have integrated with every level of hanar society, and most consider it an honor to serve a hanar family in a tradition referred to as the Compact. Many drell become unofficial members of the family, and some even earn the privilege to learn their masters' "soul names".
>>

Rin looks at your quizzically on your insistence to test the guns. It will have to wait till till you're outbound anyway. They spin up just fine but the firing mechanism can't be checked in the shipyard.

As it so happens Luke and Rin are the only ones with armor, you have your Tech Armor to keep you safe, Oolot as close to unkillable as an unarmored Krogan goes, Switch is a bit of a shut-in not really used to combat roles and Sushoo is well...a jellyfish.
You have your pick of guns though.

Let's leave Switch and Rin out of combat until we find them some respectable outfits. They're too valuable to come to harm. Luke, Oolot and Michael should be enough for a boarding party, if it came to that.

Do we have any specific profeciencies on our squad? I'd assume Oolot will be a shotgun person and Luke a rifle one, but aside from that?
>>
Man, if we can board one of the pirate ships, know what we should do?
Salvage the weapons, sell the hull, sell all the cargo. We'll make a fortune.
>>
>>20363528
Pretty much this. Only destroy the ship if you have to, otherwise try to cripple it and take it relatively intact.
>>
>>20363528

If we manage to capture a pirate ship intact, we might ask Rin about possibility of selling it to the migrant fleet... but let's not get ahead of ourselves
>>
>>20363458

Oolot tosses you what he identifies as an M-22 Eviscerator, new weapon design, highly illegal as it violates several weapon treaties, of course, that won't stop the Blue Suns from using whatever is necessary to win.
You also pick up an M-9 Tempest. Very nice selection. You also elect to keep your handguns as well.

You're armed for bear, Oolot takes an M-22, a Matlock rifle, a few grenades, and a missle launcher.

Luke goes for a Matlock, handgun and grenades

Switch, an SMG and a couple grenades

Rin takes a shotgun, pistol and grenades.

Sushoo says he doesn't use guns, he's deadly enough with his tentacles.

The clack of docking bays interlocking sets your nerve on edge and the light blinks amber. You know the ships been holed by the explosions, no atmosphere, your suit isn't truly armored but you're hoping not to get shot at any rate.

The door opens and you your stomach twists as you see the guts of a man floating in zero g face stitched in horror.

You and Oolot go around him, the ship is a little bit bigger than yours.

>>
>>20365725
Hmm. I don't think they even saw it coming. Do a sweep of the crew quarters and cockpit. Make sure nobody is onboard. Once the ship is secured, salvage what you can. Grab medical supplies, find out what the cargo is and salvage the drive core if possible.

The ship is a multi-floored vessel connected by stairs between decks. You have magnetic boots that will allow you to adhere to the deck if you so wish.
Top deck is cockpit, medbay, and captain's quarters
2nd deck is crew
3rd is engineering
Bottom deck is cargo.

You're currently in a corridor adjacent to the crew quarters.

(Sorry, I don't really have a visual but I can make one quickly if it would help.)
>>
>>20365861
Definitely raid the Captain's quarters after clearing the crew quarters. If he has a hat, put it at a ridiculous slant on top of your suit. Clear the top deck after that and work your way down. Luke is your rearguard.

>>20365861
Okay, so Engineering is, I assume, the engines. It's a wasteland right now, no need to worry about it, probably. Also, since cargo is bellow it, it is a low priority. They'd have to get through engineering to get to us. So, lets clear the crew quarters, then the Captain's quarters, and then the Medbay, and finally take control of the cockpit. We can have our team check Engineering and Cargo after that.
