It is winter now, and energy will be hard to come by. Venturing forth into the freezing air would end up killing the machine men, so in an attempt to conserve energy most of them go into the organic equivalent of hibernation inside the machine mother, the remaining thirty of them start researching their bodies. Finally they complete their task, they have now commited a blueprint of how machine men are built to memorey, all they need now is to figure out how brain cores and energy cores work.

The machine man brain core is a strange device, it's covered in a thick shielding of bronze, lights glow inside of it and dance mysteriously. One is opened carefully, inside there seems to be dozens of copper panels carefully wired together, the panels themselves have odd patterns on them, and electricity runs through them. To be perfectly honest nobody has the faintest clue what they mean.

A human has knocked on the gate, when allowed to enter he says he speaks for the villages chief. Apparently a huge dire wolf has been eating villagers every few days, and the warriors' weapons don't harm it. He asks on behalf of the village for Telok to hunt and kill the beast. The machine men tell him that the cold freezes our joints and dooms us to a frosty death. The man said he could lend Telok (1H) with some furs, and perhaps that would solve the problem.

The machine men try to mimic the pattern, but they require finer and smaller tools to be able to replicate it perfectly, an the machine men themselves can't replicate perfectly due to freehanding it. However at the end of the week they end up with a rough duplicate of the brain core, they create an extra set of copper wires to transmit the electricity and slap it in a bronze shell. They built a new body for the brain core from spare parts and put an energy core in it. What is created is quite surprising. It's a machine man, it moves and walks, and can follow orders, but something is missing. It's dumb, it can't speak, it most definatly can't think for itself. Spare parts are starting to run out.
>>
[A1/B1]
A shipment of bronze weapons is given to the villagers, 1H wears a thick fur armor on his body and begins to hunt the dire wolf with the village warriors. The friction aswell as the small portions of heat radiating off of the energy core allows 1H to stay warm enough to move comfortably. The beast attacks the day after 1H arrives at the village. A few warriors manage to wake up in time and help him kill the beast. The beast is about the size of two grown men, and kill two of the three warriors. But 1H managed to cleave the beasts left foot off with his sword and stab it a few times in the ribs with his spear. However the wolf was more concerned with the man, and pounced ontop of him. The man was surprisingly strong and held off the beast long enough to ram his spear through it's chest, the beast yelped, but was not dettered for long. 1H ran up behind the wolf and lifted it off the man by it's head. Once the beast had lost it's speed advantage it was no match for 1H's strength. "I have come to destroy you." 1H said right before crushing the wolfs head, blood and guts covered the battleground, but strangely enough they did not bathe in the good river, they were taken to a seperate pond to wash off the blood. The next day 1H was celebrated as a hero, and 1H gained just a bit more sentience. The surviving man was also praised and given the positiona as captain of the warriors. The warriors were now becoming an organized military under the command of the captain, whose name was Brian.

A group of five heavily armed machine men go with 1H and enter the mines in the hopes of killing some of the bane spiders. Everything goes well for the first few hours, they manage to kill many bane spiders, they were ambushed and surrounded by at least a hundred of them, and defeated. Upon inspecting the energy core they find strange blue stones, they glow faintly, nobody knows what they are, but there are hundreds of wires connected to it. The machine men notice that the wires have a copperish color to them, in a fools attempt at creating wires they try to mimic it's shape, they work just as well as the spare ones.

[A1]
The five machine men arm themselves with stone armor, stonze shields, bronze spears and swords. When they open the door a flood of dozens of goblins rush in, presumably the ones from the collapsed cave. They fight ferociously, but they are no match and are felled quickly. The bodies are thrown off the mountain.

The machine men try to create another brain core, hoping that this time they could mimic it perfectly. This time they did it a little better than before, but their hands aren't steady enough. The patterns from the spare brain cores are perfect, not even one flaw. To replicate it...It's impossible for them. They have created another primeman. We now have five men worth of spare parts, five brain cores, and five energy cores. We could certainly use the extra machine men, and we already know all we'll know about how we're made, besides the blue energy rocks, which the machine mother assumes has nothing for us to learn of.

He calls himself Bernard the wolf, a self-proclaimed adventurer from the river village, he wears some thick leather armor and helmet, he wields a bronze sword. He says that he has aquired many items on his journey and would be willing to trade them in for some bronze armor and a bronze shield. He shows you the contents of his backpack.

He takes out a heavy yellow bar, "Ah, gold, a secluded mining village of short men gave this to me after I cleared their mines of spiders, this is a valuable commodity and is desired by all!"

He takes out a glass flask of a black liquid, "This is something you will like! Oil, it apparently is used to grease the wheels of carts."

He takes out a yellowish parchment, "Maybe you don't need physical items, maybe you need knowledge! The machine men try to create some sort of machine to transfer the thermal heat into energy, but every attempt has ended in failure, the machine men are going to need more help if they wish to make use of thermal energy.

[C1]
Bernard the wolf thanks the machine men, they craft him some fine bronze armor and a shield, he gives them the map. The map is quite interesting, it speaks of a mining village of short creatures called dwarves to the west (brown dot), and a grove of living trees to the northwest (teal dot), just a mile to the west is a waterfall next to a mine of some sort, the machine mother recalls her scouts telling her of this waterfall, yet they never had a chance to colonize it. To the northeast is another mine, apparently Bernard cleared it out, and there are some strange red rocks inside of it. To the east is a large camp of brutes (red dot.) Before he leaves the machine men ask how he dealt with the spiders. He laughed and said that their webs were quite flammable, all he needed to do was smash oil flasks everywhere and set it afire, the spiders practicly killed themselves, he just mopped up the survivors.

It is no longer winter, spring has taken over and the trees are regrowing leaves, the world is full of life once again. The 5 machine men go to the village and gather their energy from the dam, they also take note that there is an inn in the village, when they enter it they notice it's full of not only townsfolk but also a few adventurers.

They return and awaken all of the machine men, they need energy soon.

The machine men try to improve upon the energy cores, but it's essentially just a blue glowing stone connected to wires, more of this blue stone is needed. Instead efforts go into carrying the water from the diverted river. Containers are made from bronze to haul the water up to the machine mother to make use of her built in waterwheel and generator.

Most of the manpower has gone to collecting energy, and with some devoted work they easily stabalize their energy income, more dams would make their jobs much easier however.
