You are a Magical Girl, and you've just been asked what your last words would be.

At swordpoint by a Magical Girl from a rival faction, no less.

In Siberia.

Surrounded by demonic ninja superbears, driven mad with bloodlust and the stink of exposed intestines steaming in the acridly-frigid air.

The breath you let out mists in front of your face, fogging your glasses momentarily as you inhale.

The smile on your lips is a predatory one as you murmur your answer into your headset's microphone - and a madwoman's cackling tickles your ears just as everything goes to hell.
>>
>>20542537

You've thought about that question before. Lots of times, too many to count. You don't know if it's just you being morbid, or some misguided notion that someone would actually care what you say when you finally breathe your last.

You're not even sure if it's simply wishful thinking, that someone will actually be there to listen while you bleed out in a gutter somewhere, painkillers and blood forming a gruesome slushie in the half-melted snow.

What you do know, what you are sure about, is that you've decided on your answer, long ago. You've chosen, in your last moments, to thank whoever finally had enough goodness in their heart to put you out of your misery. To thank that someone who had been brave enough to do what you yourself had been too much of a coward - too much of a failure - to actually do the deed yourself.

Depending on who it was, you'd probably be apologizing to them, too. God knows you've made a lot of mistakes - some of them you remember, and the vast majority of them eaten away by the amnesia clouding you mind. Whatever it is you did, you would apologize profusely with what little breath you had left to pull in your lungs.

But you would not ask for forgiveness, no. Nor will you ask them to forget what you did. You're no saint to ask for that. They've earned their prize, and you would be loathe to ruin their moment of satisfaction, of catharsis. Let them enjoy the sight of you broken and dying - it'd be the first time you actually managed to do good by someone, anyway.

>>20542558

Everything started going to hell a split second after Wakaba Mirai barely managed to block the snarling, adamantine-toothed beast that was the chainsword Malal. You have no idea how she did it - all you saw was Kharn's silhouette flickering into view behind the rogue Magical Girl, her shape broken by Malal's brutish profile.

It seemed that reality took a few seconds to catch up to your friend, too - you registering the sight of the double-rowed, monomolecular, adamantium teeth of the chainblade madly chewing air a moment before its deafening whine actually reached your ears.

You felt the impact of the two weapons smashing together, the force enough to have shattered any ten lesser blades all at once, before you heard the actual crash of reinforced metal upon polished swordsteel.

And you saw Kharn cackle her own last words before you even heard them over the roar of her chainsaw, over the roar of all the bears launching themselves forward in once concerted effort to murder you.

You don't catch it quite clearly, really, but it has something to do with skulls.

The fully-loaded M60 in your grasp is heavy and cold, and the Shield on your arm is ticking.

This close to death, you've never felt more alive.

What do you do?

>>
>>20542564
Stop time, ask Pinky if she'd like a new rug, start shooting.
>>
>>20542564
[x]Shoot the bears, starting with the ones nearest Kharn.
We need to give the choppy lass room to do her work. I'd usually say try to shoot Mirai directly, but there's a reason most games frown on firing into a melee.

Also, be ready to timestop if things get worse
>>
>>20542564

Bring to bear all our firepower, clearing a path that the dual may start. We'll want to move in quickly to help Kharn, though; who knows what tricks my lie in wait.
>>
>>20542564
With all this happening in extreme close proximity, I feel like we need to tap into our inner hare and start summoning an icicle bullet storm the likes of which Siberia will never forget.

Start with the closest bear/hostile magical girl, work out from there.

OPEN FIRE
>>
>>20542564

Open fire, and attempt to time stop ONCE we open fire, so we won't be sitting ducks if it doesn't work.
>>
>>20542564
Shooting would be the obvious resopnse;

Make sure Midori's behind or to the side of us first; we need clear lines of fire, and having someone keeping an eye on our back is helpful, too.
>>
>>20542564
Light a smoke, open fire
>>
>>20542564

Mr. Shield is ticking? That a good thing or a bad thing?

Anyway, if he'll oblige us time stop would be good. We have yet to use it in a firefight, and shit would be bitchin'

Regardless, circle strafe around Midori, firing at the bears as they close. Kharn moves too fast for us to fire into combat, so we play back-up for now, and wait for Malal to do the job. Quick bursts into the bears skulls. Kharn seemed to think a good rifle shot would down one, so we should be golden metaphorically speaking. Call out to Midori to spring up some decoys. Just stay close to our green haired suitor. She's pretty cool, so it'd be nice if she didn't get disemboweled.
>>
Kill them. Kill them all.

Additionally, occasional potshots to keep Mirai on her toes may be beneficial to Kharn. It's not like we don't have time.
>>
>>20542564

Aim for the heads. Kharn wants her juicy meats not tasting of powder burns.

Also, we could get some bitching coat liners made out of Grizzly Fur.

Yeah, maybe. We could have played it much smarter, but honestly in the end it comes down to who's better, and considering we've got 2.5 magical girls to her 1, we should be alright. It may have been smarter to retreat to base, gotten some big fucking sniper rifles and had a contest to see who could most effectively cripple Mirai so we could question her.

The solution to the bear problem
>>
>>20542564

Prioritize targets amongst the bears, starting with the closest ones and then the fastest ones. They're likely going to be charging on all fours, so their heads will make an apparent target; aim for headshots to kill the bears dead on. Keep an eye on Midori, tell her to go for headshots (or legshots) as well. With bears of this size going on a berserking rampage, machinegun and/or bolter rounds might not serve to stagger them. Thus, we need to either shoot out their front legs or pierce their skulls.

If things appear to be getting too heated, timestop, relocate Midori and ourselves to a more defensible location, then resume firing. Once all bears are dead, timestop, and fire pointblank at Mirai.

The moment you start firing is the moment you start laughing.

You...you're not quite sure what you find so amusing, but the sheer lunacy of the situation seems to have struck you enough that you're absolutely tickled by it. Laughing hard enough that you're actually in danger of dropping the bucking, juddering machinegun in your hands - and it takes all of your training, all of your experience, to keep a disciplined firing lane and not spray your ever-dwindling ammunition all over the goddamn place.

You're in Siberia, you think to yourself, miles and miles away from home, an entire ocean's width from the ever-dwindling group of people that who would probably visit your funeral (if they've nothing to do on that day, that is).
In the middle of nowhere, in a snow-covered forest, surrounded by bears who would like nothing more than to make a snack out of a magical girl - the absolute idiocy of the situation you've put yourself in is incredible. Even by your standards.

You laugh as you realize that this is such a stupid place to die in.

Of course, that's not all you're laughing at. The bears - for all their bulk, for all their seeming ferocity - they immediately perish as soon as you send a burst of shots at their direction. You thought they'd last a bit longer, being demonic man-eating superbears. Missing large chunks from their skull shouldn't be any problem for them, but from the way they're collapsing to the snowy ground in mid-charge, you suppose they're not as immune to gunfire as you previously thought.

Bears. Seriously. Kyoko would never believe this.

Midori, true to her word, is surprisingly keeping good form with the bolter you've given her - covering you from behind, moving in concert as you pivot to pick off the attacking ursine bastards as they get closer and closer - ensuring that no one gets at your six without them putting a fat, mass-reactive round in their throats.

And that is no exagerration - you've heard the bassy, rifle-like report of the stubby pistol - and the wet, crunchy explosion that follows it as its unfortunate furry victim falls forward with their head blown clean off, along with half their torso all but sheared away. The rounds EXPLODE as soon as they smash into living flesh, creating a permanent wound channel that no one will be able to walk away from.

Wherever your Shield got that pistol from must really be a world of suck if they needed ordnance that powerful.

But back to Midori. She's actually picking her shots, instead of firing wildly. A good thing, considering that you don't quite have a spare magazine in case she needs reloading. You figure that as soon as she runs out - and she inevitably will - you'll pass her the M60 as you take something else from your Shield.

...The Golden Desert Eagle, honestly, is starting to look very attractive at this point.

You know, the whole 'magical' company does give me some unfortunate implications. Sure, it allows Mami to retire but I think some unsavoury methods are employed to stop the company from running out of prey. Such as:

1. Underperforming magical girls are kept in a support role for too long on purpose so they will have little chance of cleansing their soul gems before witching out.
2. Witches who have a high familiar spawn rate become protected in order to farm the grief seeds that the familiars will give off when they become witches.

It has been my theory that, in the original show, the entirety of Mitakihara Town was a project of QB's to create and environment condusive to witch harvesting. Make a town that people get really into building up, where people feel they can really put their heart and soul into making a good place to live, like Madoka's mom (who's snap wish is to kill her rivals). But make it just boring and perfect enough, and people start to chafe, like the woman Mami saved.

This creates a world where the women who built the place have strong hopes and dreams, collectively wishing for a better world that QB can provide. They burn out, though, as the trials of building said world eventually become too much, and turn into a witch that their daughters have to clean up.

TLDR; QB smiled and girls died.

Yep. Wanted to talk. 144 chars too small, and no spoilers there.

Because of Reasons, i suspect that he gains the power at the moment they witch out, which does make his interest in the seeds somewhat odd.

Also, his stated reason is that mahou shoujo tears are a form of energy not limited by thermodynamics, so he can harvest them to pump into the fabric of the universe and stave off Heat Death. Whether you believe that entirely is a matter of faith, shall we say?

The both of you continue to dwindle Siberia's unchecked bear population with bullets and bolt rounds - but you stop laughing as soon as you come upon an unwanted revelation: each bear you kill, each ursine threat you dispatch is somehow replaced by two, or three, or more. Reinforcements roaring in even before the bodies had hit the floor.

They seem to be coming from all corners - loping, springing from the surrounding trees, their bulks crashing into each other as well as the ring of bear corpses now forming around the clearing in their haste to rip and tear and devour magical girl flesh. It's almost as if every demonic bear in this godforsaken shithole had been alerted to your presence - and seeing how Wakaba Mirai seemed to have the bears earlier in the palm of her hand, that may not be a far-off possibility.

You take a moment to look at the Magical Girl duel that you've been studiously ignoring ever since you started shooting - and you find yourself smiling again, despite the fact that your chances of survival are slowly dwindling.

Kharn is having so much fun right now, you almost feel jealous.

Seems at the same time alien enough for a race like the Incubators to get into that blows our pitiful human minds, and also like total bs. Heat Death, at least as I understand it, is caused because the universe is expanding away from itself, meaning eventually everything gets too far enough away to form meaningful atoms anymore.

Unless maybe their fighting Dark Energy or something, which... kind of sounds like a magical girl villain, so I suppose that would work.
>>
>>20543363

Your understanding of entropy is incorrect.

It's basically the tendancy for systems to move towards equilibrium. Or, to put it another way, if there are differences, time will make them less.

The heat death of the universe is an evenly distributed soup of elementary particles of equal energy.
>>
>>20543363
Heat Death is different from the Big Crunch, (iirc, that's the one where everything flings itself apart.)

Heat Death, in my layman's understanding, is that no reaction producing work energy is perfectly efficient - therefore, in a few gorillion years, all the energy in the universe will have been converted to unusable forms and all creation will freeze over into perfect entropy.

Wakaba Mirai is clearly experienced with her massive broadsword. Wide enough to serve as a shield and sharp enough to cleave rock and steel, her strokes are swift, clean and practiced. Her calm, composed face focused and determined as she attacks, blocks, parries and ripostes. Despite the unorthodox weapon in her hands, you see a classical pugilist's education at work here, and it's beautiful in its own right.

Kharn. Now, your former partner is something else. As far removed in style, poise and technique from Mirai as anyone could possibly be - Kharn is an absolute terror with Malal in her hands. Each chop, each slash, each brutal hack is made with horrifying force that you see Mirai's entire frame tremble with every blocked impact. Her movements, while devoid of Mirai's studied grace, has the no-nonsense fluidity of a hardened specialist - one unafraid to use everything and anything to her advantage to win, but at the same time would cripple herself just to make things a bit more interesting.

A sudden clinch between the both of them - and you see Kharn sent skidding back a few feet, Mirai trying to gain some distance from the obviously crazy swordswoman. A motion of her free hand, and a particularly large specimen of Ursus Maritimus intersposes itself between them.

Your former partner merely laughs at this, before suddenly moving forward - flashing Malal across the monster's front. Cleaving it in two, from belly to hip, and shouldering her way through the twitching, bleeding remains.

"WHAT SICK GIRL SENDS BEARS TO FIGHT KHARN?!"

It doesn't look like she needs help at the moment.

What do you do?

Get in contact with Misaka and the rest. Are they back at base arriving there? If they are, tell Misaka to attach a beacon or GPS device to Tiny Pete and have him teleport here. He would be very useful here, if nothing else than to keep Chiaki and Midori safe from bears that get through the line of fire. Once he teleports to our position, the rest of the base can send out whatever reinforcements they can spare to Tiny Pete's tracked location.

If we're going to help Kharn out, we might want to see if we can safely teleport Tiny Pete to our location without compromising the group that is returning to base. Tiny Pete, if he has some firearms on him, could conceivably fill in for Chiaki while she goes to snipe at Mirai.

Show me exactly how you know, categorically, that she is in danger or that her military escort (which already contains a truck with treads, and a large number of armed russians who've fought these bears before) even requires any protection?

There is nothing that suggests that Mirai has sent any bears after her, she is here for Midori and Midori alone, even we and Kharn are only peripheral to that objective.

"Sempai, I'm out," Midori says matter-of-factly behind you, and despite the slight edge of panic in her voice, she's being commendably calm for stating that she's just run out of ammunition in the middle of a firefight. One that's looking nowhere near finished, with more bears clawing their way to top of the hills of corpses your firing lanes have made in the clearing's perimeter.

Wordlessly, you pass her the still-smoking M60 - by your estimate, it's still got around a third, slightly less than half a magazine's worth of ammunition - and you immediately rack your Shield as your green-haired subordinate continues where you left off.

The Shield dispenses...something you had hoped it wouldn't dispense. It's Kirika's Muramasa, the XX Golden Weapon. And unlike the Desert Eagle, where you find that you could easily hold it without going insane right off the bat - just holding the Muramasa in your hands is enough to make your entire body freeze, your heartbeat thudding in your ears, the roar of blood blocking out everything else.

You find yourself swallowing hard - your throat dry - as you grasp the handle with one hand, the sheathe gripped tightly with your other. The dying rays of sunlight reflecting off the brilliant golden blade, making it blaze as you unsheathe it little by little.

So beautiful. So deadly. It's...you have no words. You have to use it. Your entire body is aching to cut something with it. Anything - a bear, a Magical Girl...even the Betrayer herself. Anything, just so long as it cuts into flesh...

[1/2]
>>
>>20543975

It's then that you hear Midori scream from behind you, her pained shriek interlaced with a guttural roar - and you whirl around to see a rather impressive specimen of Ursus Maritimus standing over your subordinate, about to give her a sound mauling. Its jaws already opened wide, teeth already crimsoned with human blood. The two mangled sections of what was once a properly-working M60 lying by her feet.

What do you do? You have mere moments to react before Midori dies.

A bolt pistol is bigger than an MP-5 for an idea of the scale

It may be called a pistol but it isn't built like one
>>
>>20544183
Lol.

Yes, precisely. If we want to save Midori, we need to do it without using the most powerful tools at our disposal, because they'll turn us cartoonishly evil. That's the difference between sacrifice and waste.

what we don't enjoy murder now? *COUGH* MURDERFACE *COUGH* we love murder. we will be the swords master not the other way round
>>
>>20544216

In a total non-chucklefuck fashion, I think we CAN master the sword, we don't have to fall to it's power.

We're just now finding things that we have to live for, to die for! We have a reason to pull back from the brink, to forge a path to our future!

We're BETTER then Kirika, damnit!

I want to prove it.

>90% of characters who use them wearing gloves or gauntlets

You know what would have helped to avoid this situation?

If we'd brought Tiny Pete with us, instead of leaving him to do nothing.

God, it's almost worth being in the horrible situation just to know vindication.
>>
>>20543981
one of of our standing operating procedures is to not use the golden weapons.

Us going on a killing rampage right after we save her would be mission failure. Next weapons for god's sake.

fuck I missed most of the last two trheads too.
>>
>>20544387

Timestop is it's own corruption causing reward. In many ways, I'd say the threat posed by the Golden Weapons is such that we are being HERDED into using Time Stop as much as possible.

Pinky wants us to visit, afterall.

Chiaki's ranged stat is much higher than her melee stat, so technically she might actually be better off throwing it than swinging it.

Even if you weren't in the whole cutesy thing, the fact reamins that she gives us good guns.

>>
>>20544400

Being intent on not using a golden weapon almost got us killed once before, if we keep wasting time chucking them every time we get one, one of these days it's going to bite us in the ass. I think we're stuck either using the weapon, or using timestop to give us time to switch.
>>
>>20544389

You know what would have helped to avoid this situation?

Well, yes.

Deconstruction does not form entertainment unless subsequently reconstructed. It's just an examination of the workings and mechanics of a given form.

Hell, talking about a show as "a deconstruction" is kinda misleading anyway. It's evident that deconstruction has OCCURRED, prior to it's creation, but without the creators subsequently going "and having now worked this out, we can do This Different Thing", there is nothing entertaining there, it's just how "Form/Genre X works".

>>
>>20544032 >>20544021 >>20544007

No time. No time to worry about corruption. No time to worry about how it may reduce you to a drooling, black-eyed, snarling monstrosity the longer you hold it, the longer you think about using it. You have no time for rationality, no time for second thoughts, and certainly no time for regrets.

You launch yourself at the bear as you clumsily reverse your grip on the thrice-damned pigsticker of Kirika's - and you grit your teeth as you shove your right arm, shield and all, into the roaring bear's mouth.

There's a horrific crash of enamel digging into polished metal as the rabid Ursus Maritimus tries its level best to bite into the Shield-shaped treat it's just been forced to fellate. It's just too bad that you forced the Shield into its mouth lengthwise, the shield's entire width preventing it from fully closing its jaw on your arm and making a snack of it.

You take advantage of the split-second moment of confusion and helplessness as you quickly and brutally disembowel the bear. Stabbing the great furry bastard right in its gut, before sawing the blade back and forth in quick workmanlike cuts upward and then to the side. The beast begins to trash and howl and claw at you as you start carving its insides as it stands on its own two feet - but you ignore the deep, jagged cuts its claws make on your back and arms as you stubbornly hold onto it, all the while murdering it while it stood.

It's only until you hear - and then see - its intestines fall out in thick, wormish ropes slick with gore that you finally kick off of the slaughtered creature - and it falls back, lifeless, its entire front slashed open and torn out, just like its victims.

You barely even take notice of the green-haired whelp screaming your name as she grabs your arm, begging you to drop the sword, to come back to her.

You only notice the remaining bears as they warily circle the both of you, now. You only notice the two Magical Girls trying to kill each other at the edge of the clearing. The cursed one clearly having the upper hand, here, despite her broken form. Despite her heretical form.

A few more moments, and it's then that the brilliant one breaks away from the clinch - clutching a grievous wound to her side. Her inferior weapon, a silver plaything, is riddled scratches and gouges, from the broken one's beastly weapon. She is hobbling back into the forest, leaving a blood trail, trying to escape.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, HERETIC?" You hear the broken one shout, chilling laughter in her voice. "DO NOT RUN AWAY! COME, WE HAVE MORE TO TALK ABOUT!" She tries to give chase, but is hobbling - each step causing her to limp, sparks flying from one of her curiously-made legs.

You lick your bloodied lips at the thought of ripping her heart from her body and devouring it.

What do you do?

The brilliant one. Yes. No quarrel with the broken one, she is a comrade. A friend. No, more than that. She is a part of you, a part of yourself that you're hanging onto very admirably.

It's commendable, really, how your kind refuses to let go of the things they very well should.

[Sempai! Sempai, please listen to me! SEMPAI! PLEASE, LET GO OF THE SWORD!]

You ...you do not wish to see the broken one hurt. You will not hunt her, you will not sup from her wounds, you will not taste her flesh. You are sure of this. Perfectly sure, even with her propensity for betrayal.

The brilliant one. Yes, she must die.

[SEMPAI!]

You should shut up whoever's shouting at you. She is getting bothersome.

No? Why not? Her screams were fine, earlier. Full of fear and disebelief. But it is just getting annoying, now. She is disappointed. She no longer trusts you. It'll only take a second to slit her throat. No more voice.

...No. Don't fight back, Murderface.

Sadly yes it is. Deculture stated as soon as we grabbed the sword that we suddenly and out of nowhere gained a DEEP desire to kill things. This i can only assume from our behavior is NOT NORMAL. But /tg/ went ahead and saved Midori with the sword. And then when the sword fucked us up /tg/ started crying like a schoolkid whom realised hes about to lose his lunch money cause he did some stupid on the playground. Deculture caved and gave us a way out. Seems bad to me bro.

Very well then, what would your alternative be?

The last time Chiaki went full FOFA she didn't get a chance to stop (IIRC) but she also didn't target any of her allies (or consider targeting them, rather). As such, I think this is just the gradual progression of the madness seeping into Homura, which is at about 66% now. Kilgore and Kiraka both killed several people before they went (even more) crazy and their eyes turned black, so it stands to reason that since we've killed a few with golden weapons we're getting nearly there.

But go ahead and tell about how you know everything about writing n' shit.

>>
>>20545172 >>20545158 >>20545153

This is hilarious. What makes you think you're strong enough to survive this little fetch quest our pink lady's sent you on?

You had to rely on a CHILD to kill me, Murderface. What does that say about you, hmm? Making a fourteen-year-old do her dirty work for her? Not really Warmaster material, if I do say so myself.

Just give it up. It's much easier if you do. You're not the first to fall for it - and you won't be the last, either. Why fight it when it's going to be an inevitability instead?

Well. You're stubborn. That's probably your only redeeming quality. Fine, go play around - it's not like you'll have a choice next time. You're just as corrupted as we are - and you'll be joining us, just like the rest.

. . .

"You stupid bitch." You hoarsely rasp through a throat that feels like you've just been throwing up battery acid for the last four hours - and you find yourself on your knees, a puddle of dried, crusted blood soaking into the snow below you. Muramasa lying a few metres away from you, its mirror-like blade stained a slight pink from all the blood it's been slaking itself on. "...Do that again, and I'll kill you a second time."

You growl this out to the empty air, expecting the dead to spit it back at you.
>>
>>20545446
My alternative? Let the trainwreck happen.
Deculture isnt a bad GM. Hes probably done this before. So how does he respond to a player practically killing themselves? I guess its this way.
>>20545464
Pinky is always FAR more focused on us than anyone else as far as we know. We've spent a good deal of time with her too. The fact that we have a Golden Gun speaks to that. Im honestly surprised we havent seen her show up yet. This seems like the kind of thing she jump at the chance to fuck up.
>>
>>20545541

No response. Whatever that was - whatever it had been, speaking in Kirika's voice - it's gone now, gone back wherever it came from.

Good. Good. For fuck's sake, that voice of hers never really left you after her retirement. The mere thought of it made you physically ill - and it's in full effect now, especially after she almost just made you kill your former partner.

It's only then that you finally realize that something is clasping you around your waist, hugging you close, shivering all the while, kneeling on the same snow-packed ground as you. You blink wearily as your eyes focus, and you see your subordinate latched onto you like her life depends on it.

It's also then that you see the long, bloody gouges on her arms, as if something had tried to cut their way out of her grasp.

"N-not leaving sempai," You hear Midori's pain-choked sob, the girl's cries muffledby your bloody and tattered uniform. N-no matter what happens, I'm not letting go..."

What do you do?
>>
>>20545560
Hugging is the only reasonable option. Hug her.
>>

It's a stressful situation, so we go back to basics.

Assess the situation, whilst grabbing another gun. Make sure we're not about to be bearied.

Oh, and pat Midori on the back awkwardly with the free hand, and whisper to her "Thank you for watching my back"
>>
>>20545560
Grab the fucking first firearm that is near you and snipe the fleeing bitch. There is a time for hugging and headpatting but that time clearly isnt now!

Place a hand on Midori's head.
"I'm back, Midori."
>>
>>20545560
It's okay Midori, I'm back. Thank you.

Assess the situation, determine Mirai's location, acquire a firearm, preferably a rifle, from our shield if necessary. Murderize the fuck out of Mirai.
>>
>>20545560

asses situation, hungry bears surround us still?

was Midori injured by the bear mauling her gun or did we afflict those wounds while trying to go kill brilliant bitch over yonder?
>>
Thank Midori profusely and reassure her that everything is fine now.
>>
>>20545632

Seconding the professional response, assuming we can stay conscious.
>>
>>20545331

Have you ever stopped to consider that the golden weapons aren't like a light switch, and that there's still some wiggle room in how much control we can maintain depending on the circumstances? We managed to avoid blowing Sayaka's brains out, after all. Thinking that taking the sword is INSTANT GAME OVER despite there being no proof of this, and then when that ends up NOT being the case, claiming that he MEANT to give us a game over but then changed his mind at the last minute, is kind of stretching your assumptions a little.

Keep in mind we're supposed to be collecting twenty of these things, as the plot goes on our chances of getting stuck with one are going to grow from here. If a lot of the weapons will dead end us upon use, this is going to be a short fuckin' quest.
>>
>>20545692
>this will be one fuckin' short quest.

I... I think you're onto something, anon!
>>
>>20545636
We were slowly cutting our way through her.
>>
>>20545679

So a: "Midori? Midori! I'm fine now! What's the situation?!" followed by thanks when things hace calmed down and there's no more danger of getting nom'd by bears?
>>
>>20545560

[x]Get out the first non-gold gun we can find, pat Midori's head, say "Cuddling's for after hours, kid, let's move." and book it the way Mirai and the bitch went.

Hey, wait a second.

The Golden Bracers alter their size to fit us....
>>
>>20545692
Which is why we need to avoid using them at all cost. EVERYTHING that has been shown to us about these weapons has told us that they dont take long to drive you from semi-sane Magical girl to FLESH OF FALLEN ANGELS!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell QB told us a few threads back Kirikas levels of corruption went from ~11% to near 100% moments after she received the sword. MOMENTS. Not days, not weeks, mere second after she touched it. It probably took Kilgore a little longer because he was not magical, and the gauntlets werent made for him. Hell we ALMOST KILLED some when we got MAD with one in our hand. Thses things are NOT worth the cost of using them, and the way they have been talked about, they ARE a BAD END if we use it for more than 3 seconds. Hell the whole reason we are in Siberia right now is to try and find a way to make it corrupt us less. But this is before that. And /tg/ made the mistake of using the weapon to kill something before we got there.
>>
>>20545818
>that .gif
Haha what
>>
>>20545813

Given the genre and how dangerous things are in general(including the danger posed by, erm, ourselves) we should probably avoid getting romantic with our partners.

Also, just going for the friends-with-benefit hedonism route wouldn't be a good idea either when it comes to her at least, because Midori's soft enough to really not do well psychologically with those mixed signals. And even if she thinks she can handle friends with benefits, she might not be able to at all and things will turn out bad.

>>
>>20545893

One of the very few genuinely funny japanese comedies!
>>
>>20545631 >>20545624 >>20545577

You hold yourself perfectly still for a moment, trying to fight back a wave of nausea you're pretty sure is from blood loss - and it's then that you move to carefully extract yourself from Midori's grasp, murmuring to the desperate girl that you're...back, now, wherever you came from. You're not going to do anything weird any longer. The danger has passed.

If anything, she only wraps herself tighter around you, as if absolutely unable to take that risk, that chance that you may not be telling the truth. You try again, a bit more firmly this time, and it's then that she finally lets you get back onto your feet - but she does not let go of your arm, her fingers curled around what's left of your sleeve.

You refrain from saying anything else as you ignore the luster of the Muramasa a few feet away - and a quick racking of the Shield nets you a Glock 17 with an extended magazine. it's a fully-automatic one, from what you can see - and you carefully, slowly, pan the firearm around you.

The bears are gone. What's left of them are...well, lying in pieces around the clearing. Mostly your handiwork and Midori's, with some help from Kharn. The forest itself is quiet; not even the telltale roar of Malal to break the silence.

You offer your bloodied arm to Midori to hug tighter to herself - and it's then that you try to raise your former partner on her frequency.

You murmur her name into the dead, static-laden channels a few times before you get a response. An exhausted-sounding response, but one nonetheless.

"Murderface? You are still alive?" A guffaw. "Then truly we are reunited! I was dreading that you have gone much too soft, and fell prey to the Enemy!"

[1/2]
>>
>>20545887
She also openly admitted to being in love with us a few minutes ago. So the friends with benefits wouldn't work well at all.
>>
Anyone want to bet the enemy is Pinky?
>>
>>20545901

You refrain from mentioning that it almost came to that. Instead, you ask her where she is, so you can link up and get the hell out of here.

"Up further north from the clearing. ...Hnn. You are in right path, I think. Just go straight." A sigh from Kharn, and then another laugh. "This has been a bothersome day, but it has seen me with yet another addition to my collection. Another one for my throne - but haha, who makes a throne out of skulls, Murderface? It does not sound stable at all, and you need quite a lot to even make the simplest stool! Plus, comfort! How can you sit with all those face bones digging into your back, into your ass!"

...Ah. So that's why the bears are gone.

You congratulate her on her new acquisition, and you share that you'll be making your way shortly to her. She agrees, saying that she won't be going anywhere for a while - and it's then that she cuts the connection off.

"I...sempai, I thought I was going to lose you..." Midori murmurs brokenly, clutching your arm tighter. "I...I didn't know what to do, except to hold on..."

You have no reply to that, you find.

You can only thank her, for now. Anything else stills feels much too unfamiliar.

>>
Hey, I just thought of something.

>It's then that the Incubator nods. "Which brings me to my next point. Matsuda, you're right. These things ARE dangerous, and they do corrupt. I would say, given the limited information I have now, that the golden sword itself may have corrupted Kirika. I've been looking at her Soul Gem readings for the past month. Her gem was past the point of recovery, and she had never used a grief seed ever since she registered the sword as her personal weapon. She should have expired long ago, but yet we know how she was when you retired her."

With Kirika somehow coming back from the dead to taunt us in our mind.
Does that mean the Muramasa has become the new housing for Kirika's soul? Do the golden weapons take the victims souls from their soul gems and place it in themselves?

Since Midori played a pretty big role in today's thread, I'm taking the liberty of posting hers too.

...Wellllllll. I don`t think that tongue-fondling her soul is the same as having sex with her.
>>
>>20546216
It gave her a rather sexual orgasm though.

Redt well. You deserve it.

God dammit you guys, I pass out halfway through a thread and wake up to see we fell for the "I AM AN OBVIOUS TRAP" option hook line and sinker.

"No, don't worry, we can handle the sword. It'll be fine, it's just one bear. Oh no there's no other choice but to do the obvious and obviously terrible idea."

I am moderately disappoint. Whatever happened to all-consuming paranoia of our golden gifts?
>>
>>20546622

Personally, I didn't want to risk Midori, who has really grown on me over the past few threads, getting nom'd by a bear while trying for a new weapon so I sort of freaked out.

Sorry.
>>
>>20546090
Oh, and thank you, Deculture, for soldiering on to finish the bear hunting adventure.
>>

Wrong choices are a big part of the fun, Anon.

Grumble grumble grumble.

Personally, i'm just miffed with the few that were like "No, 'sall cool. We're not going to Bad End at the speed of light, we're just noiring it up. Being noir is suffering."

NOT QUITE, LADS.

Anyway. Do try to remember that we're not completely constrained to the options with the lovely [x] tags, and that golden weapons are always a terrible idea in the future, alright comrades?

Calm down, bro. We'll end up in situations where we'll have to use them anyway, so as long as we don't go out of our way to use them we'll be alright.

We're destined to collect all 21, so we can't be scared of them. We already told off Kirika and dodged the BAD END in our dream. Rolling the dice is fun sometimes. If we crap out, one more reason to hate ourselves.

There simply wasn't time, man. It was either toss the sword, or write off Midori, and people just weren't quite willing to write off Midori yet, I guess.
>>
>>20546836
While i do grant you that, i would still rather have us fall for the subtler pitfalls. The obvious ones just make poor murderface seem... bumbling.
>>
>>20546923
I maintain that option 3, Timestop, was the least of our available evils. At least there the corruption and dismemberment has a speech check.

But yes, things did end as well as possible once the sheer scale of how badly we were in trouble became apparent.

Actually, does our Time Stop even work right now?
Sure, Pinky can activate it, but that's because she's a demi-god.
I think it bears testing once we're safely back in the R&D Facility.
If it doesn't work at all anymore, then that's important to know. And it'll cut down these kinds of after-action criticisms.
>>
>>20547072
Well, she SAID it does. We haven't tried using it since it failed against Kirika. I think because of both "it's borken!" and "OhGodPinky".
>>
"OhGodPinky" is not a detriment for some of us!
