Last time on Medieval X-COM: Muscle trio of barbarian assassins hunt down and kill Bretagne's King Ellothor ending the long lasting conflict with Ducal States of Italia. The rumors are Ducal States wanted to end this conflict to resolve internal problems with so-called demonic invasions. The war was tearing Bretagne Kingdom apart with bandits ruling the roads and monsters lurking in the darkness. Ellothor's son, prince Cervibarb proved himself to be unable to rule over this giant kingdom, prefering to spend his time with elven visitors from northern islands.

In an act of desperation the royal court, together with merchant guild and bishop of Gourdon have reformed the royal guard survivors (probably hoping another group of assassins will get the incompetent prince) into Avant-Garde, organization created to protect Bretagne at all cost.

Bump, choosing a new guard tower is an easy task, young master. Just point a place within our kingdom's border with a finger.
>>
One of the border cities/fortresses obviously, but which one?

There's... not many good places, I fear. Unless we can set up atop that south-eastern mountain range and roll down hill.

To the south we've got endless sands with undead and liches, to the north is the land of elves who don't bother us that much. To the west there are many countries we are at peace now. Royal Court wants you to protect kingdom from the internal dangers, though.

Well, a monastery would have resting quarters, a library, and grounds to train the soldiers, and presumably trade paths to local farms. I think that should work fine!

Churches were usually built better than many castles in the old days. It'll do just fine.

While our workers get the supplies there you should think about recruiting staff. We've got place for eight guards right now. You can hire both regular watchmen as well as former and new adventurers.

... Who gives us these missions? Because if somebody manages to "lose contact" with a whole fucking village and and our informer states that "It's probably nothing" then I have a huge doubt in my mind. And that doubt is that the mission informer is a heretic. This is a trap, I tell you. A trap!

A child could be send to run to that town and check if everything is a-OK. Hell, if it's a fishing village, then there should be some sighting of their fishers.

We've got the library. We can currently research:
-abandoned village sea water (1 week)
-small crab (1 week)
-humanoid body (3 weeks)
-Stop with those rolls now
>>
>>20571250
I agree with this, unless we already have it, in which case a foundry would be neat.

Also please die in a fire.
>>
>>20571250
Yes, that, and whatever motivates stopman to stop rolling.
>>
>>20571268
Game Maker, a program with handy isometric grid in room editor. You just have to draw
>>
>>20571271
I dont understand why everyone is so pissy about it, but whatever.

Research the crab, give up the humanoid body. Whatever the church is going on about, no reason to anger them unnecessarily.

Blacksmith facility will be ready in three weeks.
>>
I think we need capture equipment: nets, cages and those longs sticks with a slipknot at the end.
also fire arrows.
no idea what structure we need for this stuff.
>>
>>20571319
hey can we get some exterior walls going, too?
>>
>>20571306
We've already decided to keep the body.

>Now researching: Crab
>Standing:
Royal Court: ok
Merchant Guild: ok
Church: neutral
>>
>>20571271
Crab sounds good, but keep the body. Let the church know you'll let them have one if you get any more.
>>
>>20571330
>>20571326
Right after the blacksmith is done building, craftsman workshop and outer defences will be built. You can order stuff from the merchant guild, though.

I guess I'll be ending it for today. Any suggestions for the next part?
>>
>>20571364
There's a list of the items we can buy from the guild?
I suggest purchasing something that can upgrade the punch of our melee, like attack dogs, alcohol or molotov bottles
>>
>>20571422
Seems pretty fine to me.
>>
>>20571447
There is almost everything in the Guilds, from dogs to prototype hand cannons. Just name it and I will come up with a price and add them to the known technologies.

Uhm...power fists?
alternativaly, simple but effective thrown weapons?
and something for quick first aid, like sterile bandages
>>
>>20571422
Some kind of an easy to understand format for the equipment.
>>
>>20571525
Will try!
>>20571529
8 sets of sterile bandages and medical herbs forming (crude first aid kit) are ordered for 20 livres each.
>>
>>20571566
Maybe you could use some kind of icon for the items the character is carrying...melee weapon, ranged, shield, stuff like that.
also, if somebody have idea of how improve our combat performances...
>>
>>20571639
LANDSKNECHT!
>>
>>20571639
Would a visual equipment like in X-COM or diablo be enough?
>>
ask the Royal Court if the court's artist can upgrade the battle standard for 50 livres
>>
>>20571689
You've sent a letter to the Court, they should reply in a week.
>>
>>20571681
could you make some sort of bareboned status screen to link to each character?

im sure its a hassle anyway. a unified inventory screen would be awesome
>>
We're doing this from the other side if you are interested.

if you mean in the "character screen", probably it will work well

Cyril looks like Hitler.
>>
>>20571719
What's with all this X-com dripping everywhere on /tg/ lately?
looks interestng though. I'll give a better look tomorrow...here in E7 is time to sleep.
>>
>>20571661
I'm sure as a near separate arm of the government we can hire/train some extravagantly dressed soldiers in silks with longswords and shields. Though i think we'll need to research pikes and zweihanders
>>
>>20571824
You mean "Flamberges"
>>
>>20571878
Hi-diddly-ho monsterino!
>>
>>20571681
Maybe have the character tile border be different color based on their equipment?

Green for melee, yellow for ranged, blue for special. The squad size isn't that big, so different border colours would be enough to cut the different soldiers in easy to distinguish groups. After that it's easy to remember, in example, that the mustachioed guy of the melee group had this and this weapon in hand, and even if the players don't remember, they can easily see that he indeed is more suitable for melee then tap dancing.

Should work for now.
>>20571719
oh, I will definitely look into it!
>>20571971
Will see how does that look
>>
>>20572160
then doesnt it only cost us 10 to ship items to us because we've got a Merchant?
>>
Let's get some better armor/shields purchased for our guards. Not that it would have helped poor Benoit against that crit, but we can't have our guards recovering from wounds all the time.

Also, hire a replacement guard?
>>
>>20572329
I support this strongly. We should blow pretty much all of our money on something, because it doesn't help us at all in cash form.

How do we get a blacksmith again? Or did someone answer that?
