Last time on Mobile X Destiny, Anon-kun ended up spending most of his lunch with Sora. After a surprise quiz in English, everyone attended gym class. After school, Anon decided to visit Miyuki at the pool and see what she wanted for dinner. Upon returning home, Anon-kun began cooking some delicious food for Miyuki and himself. After dinner and toward the end of the night, Anon-kun said some things to Miyuki that upset her greatly, but was able to just save things at the last second.

Note from the OP: Hey everyone. It's come to my attention that MxD has come under scrutiny in other boards as well as here about whether or not MxD constitutes a /tg/-related quest. This has boiled down to discussion as to whether or not there are mechanics involved that require dice. Truth be told, yes, there are, as I am often times rolling dice behind-the-scenes to determine if certain events happen or not, not unlike a GM rolling dice behind a screen. This also means that I'm rolling the dice to see if certain actions work or not whenever the majority votes for it (the voting system with pre-determined choices) and applying modifiers where required. As such, I'm going to henceforth publicly broadcast those modifiers in the thread images along with the girls' status meters. I'm also going to ask that you guys start using the dice system implemented into /tg/ so I don't roll for Anon-kun anymore. So if we start working out in the morning, make sure you're doing a d20 roll when you vote, and I'll apply the modifiers and see if they pass the DC.

You're sitting in a gymnasium. It looks familiar to you somehow... That's when you notice the kids running in, followed by a teacher. It's hauntingly familiar, and you're unable to place it.

That is, until you recognize two of the children.

One of them is you, and the other is Chiyo. The two of you are playing with some other kids, basketball from the looks of it, and the ball flies past Chiyo's head over toward a wall. As she runs to fetch it, it all comes back to you. It's as if everything is in slow motion as you see the wall explode out, chunks of concrete flying in every direction. That's when you see a strange looking car covered in rubble blocking the view of Chiyo. You remember what you did then, and seeing yourself crawl through the rubble to find her...

Your eyes slowly open, and you realize it's still dark in your room. The blanket Miyuki stole from you is actually covering you completely, and it's as if you're tucked in. You glance over where she was, but Miyuki isn't in your bed or even in your room. A quick glance at the clock tells you that it's 4:24 AM. Your head feels a bit fuzzy.

You groan and climb out of bed, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. You head over to the bathroom and relieve yourself, then freshen up a bit before heading downstairs to get some water. When you go into the kitchen, you see Miyuki in there dressed up in workout attire. You arch a brow. "Good morning," she says. "I'm glad you're up. I was about to head upstairs to wake you, but this makes it easier."

"Eh?" Your voice is completely flat.

"We're going to workout for the next hour and a half," she says. "After that, I'll make breakfast and finish making our lunches. Go up and change then meet me down here." When you just stand there, she frowns. "Go, shoo! Hurry up. Unless you weren't serious about you said last night?"

You head upstairs without a word and change, and when you come back down, she's waiting for you by the door. "All set?" she asks.

"Yeah... I think I'm going to definitely abuse my right to complain by the end of this," you tell her.

"Fine with me." She leads you out and the two of you start off with a brisk walk around the neighborhood before diving into full on running. Once you both end up stopping with the cardio, you proceed to some push ups, crunches, and squats. You lose track with how many sets of each you do, and eventually you find yourself on your back, coated in sweat. "Tired already?" she asks.

"No... I'm just getting started..." you boast between breaths. "We can... keep going..." You look up and see Miyuki is covered in sweat as well, but she still has her composure. She just grins at how pathetic you look, or so you think.

"Go hit the showers, Anon-kun. I'm going to shower after you, so don't waste time." She helps you to your feet and the two of you head inside. You go shower and enjoy the heat of the water as it soothes your muscles. When you get out and get dressed, you head downstairs and see Miyuki standing near the stove. "Oh, excellent, you're done." She hands you a plate of food. "Eat up. I'm going to go shower."

You sit down and eat, and that's when the door opens. You see Chiyo walk in. "Morning, Anon-kun."

"How are you this morning?" you ask.

"I'm alright. Just a bit tired. I was up late last night," she replies.

"Oh?"

"Yeah, I was finishing homework up and also walking around late last night. I couldn't sleep well." She casts her gaze away from you and goes quiet.

"That sucks," you mutter. "If it makes you feel any better, I had to wake up at 4:30 and exercise for two hours. I think I'm going to die soon." That elicits a small chuckle from Chiyo.

"I seriously doubt you're going to die, Anon-kun. You're a lot stronger than that," she says seriously.

"I hope so," you reply sarcastically. "If not, then I'm in trouble." You see her nod and become withdrawn, which seems strange. You wonder what you can do to make her talk.

"So you mentioned you were out walking last night, right?" you ask. "Why? Don't you know it's dangerous to go alone?"

"Yeah, well, I couldn't sleep, remember? It seemed like the best thing to do, since I used to go for walks all the time. Besides, no one was going to mess with me since I didn't see anyone out last night," she replies with a bit of a frown. "It's not a big deal."

"You might not think so, but---" You stop as you hear footsteps coming down the stairs. "I guess Miyuki is done."

"Looks like it," Chiyo says. "Morning, Miyuki."

"Good morning, Chiyo. How are you this morning?"

"A little tired, but that's all."

"Late night?"

"Something like that." The two girls start talking about different things, leaving you to sit there like a bump on a log. You quietly finsh your breakfast and wash the dish before collecting your stuff for class. Once you're ready to go, Miyuki gets her stuff and the three of you head off to school. Along the way, you notice Chiyo still being withdrawn.

You pick up your pace and start walking side-by-side with Chiyo. "Hey," you say to her. "Seriously, is something wrong?" When you ask that, you notice a man walking on the opposite side of the street walking in a different direction. You see he's of average height, with mid-length brown hair, with a slightly darker skin tone. That's when you notice his attire: he looks like the stereotypical tourist. Your eyes lock with his for a split second before he rounds a corner, and you realize you're still talking to Chiyo.

"...like I'm being ignored." You realize you are in a bit of trouble here, since you aren't entirely sure what she just finished saying. You keep calm, though; now's not the time to panic. Instead, you say...

"You don't need to feel that way," you say calmly. "Just remember that sometimes things happen, and sometimes people act a certain way that make all of us feel like that at some point."

"I guess so... It just bothers me."

"I understand," you reply. "Just try and take it in stride, and hopefully that sort of feeling will pass. That's the best thing I can really say, advice-wise."

"I guess. Thanks, Anon-kun."

"It's no problem." The guy that you saw earlier is still bugging you, though. You push that thought aside and head into class. There's an announcement about the festival in home room again, and you see Sayuri looking your way by the end of it. You realize what's coming next class, so you brace yourself as you head into math.

"Decently~" You can tell she's about to say something completely unrelated. "...So will Anon-kun help me with the stall again later today?" You knew it was coming, you just didn't realize how soon. You glance to your right and see Chiyo there, and in front of you is Miyuki. Behind you sits Roslyn, and to your left is where the little girl resides, looking at you expectantly.

"And I've got the swim team I have to take care of, so I can't exactly do that, either. Sorry, Sayuri," Miyuki says.

"It's okay, no big deal~" Sayuri replies. You look over at Chiyo, though, who hasn't said anything.

"That's not exactly an answer, Chiyo," you tell her firmly. "I mean, are you going to help or not? It's just a yes-or-no answer. It won't hurt my feelings if you don't want to help."

Chiyo looks frustrated, being put on the spot like she is. "I don't know, okay? I don't know if I want to stay after school and help. I might want to go visit someone else after school."

You stare at Chiyo, caught completely off guard by her reaction and explanation. "Oh." You don't really know how to respond.

"That's okay, Chiyo-chan," Sayuri says, apparently unphased. "I'm content to have Anon-kun all to myself after school~"

Chiyo stops moving and looks up at Sayuri. "...I'll help," she says quietly.

"Really?" Sayuri asks, gasping. "Yay~" Before you can say anything, Sayuri drags you into helping her with math, and before you know it, you're already in history, trying to find a seat. Chiyo is sitting aside from the group today, you notice, but everyone else is in their usual space.

Seeing Chiyo sit alone bothers you, so you head over to her. You slide into the seat next to her without her even noticing your movements. You sit there for a few minutes while the movie starts up, and she still hasn't noticed you. It's as if she isn't paying any attention to everything around her. You gently poke her in the side, like how you used to when you were younger. "Hey. Hey. Hey. What's going on?"

"Huh?" She looks up at you. "Why are you sitting here, Anon-kun?" she asks. "Normally you sit with Sora in history." So she's noticed your seating arrangements up until now.

You decide to do this right and go down in flames of honor. You dive into the quiz and answer everything you can before turning it in, feeling less than stellar about how you performed. When you take your seat, you see Chiyo still working dilligently on her own work. You wait until she's done before saying anything. When she sits back down, you look over at her. "How did it go?"

"I managed to get it done," she says. "I took enough notes during class last week to cover most of the answers, so I think I'm doing alright. How about you? You were done pretty fast."

Assure her that he's there for her. Saying "don't worry about it" when there's obviously something to worry about isn't going to get us really far.

"Let me know if you want to talk again about this, alright? We can talk during lunch or after school. Just don't sit and let it eat away at you."

"Alright, Anon-kun." You head into lab and sit next to Miyuki, who waves at Chiyo as she passes.

"So, things are going a bit better with Chiyo?" Miyuki asks.

"I... I think so," you reply. "At least she's talking to me."

"That's an improvement," Miyuki says with a nod. "I'm pretty hungry, though, so let's get this over with so we can eat." The two of you work together to get everything done, but that's when she stops. "Oh no."

"What?" you ask.

"I forgot lunch at home," she says breathlessly.

"We can buy lunch, no big deal," you say.

"Oh, okay," Miyuki says. "Thanks, Anon-kun." You smile at her, and continue working.

A buzzer goes off in the classroom, and on the PA you hear, "Saiyama Chiyo, please come to the office." You arch a brow and glance back at Chiyo, and she stands up, smiles nervously at you, and leaves.

"I wonder what that was about?" Miyuki asks.

"No idea," you reply. Twenty minutes pass, and nothing new happens. You and Miyuki finish your assignment and turn it in, but Chiyo hasn't come back yet. "Where did she go...?"

"Huh?" Miyuki asks. "Did you say something?"

"I'm going to go look for Chiyo," you tell Miyuki. "Here..." You reach into your wallet and produce a few bills for food. "Go ahead and get yourself a lunch, and if you would, please get me something. I'm not picky, so whatever is cheap and looks good is good enough for me. I'll meet you on the roof, okay?" She nods, and you head toward the office, thinking that would be the first place to look.

You head inside and see one of the office workers, and you flag her over. "Excuse me, but was Saiyama Chiyo in here earlier?"

"Hmm? Oh, yes. Her cousin and her fiance came to pick her up. There was an emergency at her home," the woman says.

That's strange.

Sorry mate, that fiance bit was for the cousin.
>>
"What was the cousin's name?" you ask.

"She said her name was Catherine," the woman replies. "She was a cute little thing, long silver hair. Her fiance had similar looking hair, but it was much shorter. They looked lovely together, and they looked like it was a serious thing at home."

"Really..." None of this makes sense. Chiyo doesn't have a cousin named Catherine as far as you know, and you're fairly certain you've met most of her family.

"It was a bit strange, though," the woman goes on to say, a bit to herself. "Saiyama-chan looked a bit upset to see them, so I imagine it must be something very serious..." She nods to herself. "Oh, you're still here, Anon-kun? Run along to lunch."

"By any chance," you ask, "Did they mention the fiance's name?"

"Eh? Oh, the young man? He never introduced himself, since the girl was the one that knew Saiyama-chan the most. They shared a few words and left."

"Okay... Thank you." You leave the office and walk into the hallway, a million thoughts running through your head. "I don't like this," you mutter to yourself. "I really don't like this." You're caught between going up to the roof and telling everyone what's happened and sneaking out of school right now to investigate, but even then you aren't sure if this is something to panic over just yet.

Seconded, then head to the roof and let people know. If we decide to try and find her before school ends, we'd likely want at least Roslyn for backup

head to the roof and take your lunch and tell them youll eat it on the way to investigating whats up with the silver couple. take em if they offer to go and go after them.

also tell sayuri youll be back to help her with her stall.
>>
You decide to try and get some more information. You start wandering the halls and you produce your cellphone from your pocket. You dial Chiyo's number, but it goes straight to voicemail. You frown, as that's not a good sign. As you wander around, you hear the PA come on again. "...Anon-kun, please come to the office."

"Eh?" They're calling you back to the office? "Shit." You don't know if you want to go, but you're being called, and they'll start looking for you eventually. You sigh and head back to the office and see a man standing there looking at you. He's got mid-length brown hair and a slightly dark skin tone... It's the guy from earlier, but in a completely different outfit. He looks normal. "Huh?"

"Anon-kun?" he says in what sounds like practiced Japanese. "It's urgent. Your mother's had an accident." You don't exactly trust what he says, but he seems benevolent.

Trust him about as far as we can throw him. Once we get him talking we can ask something that could reveal if he actually knows our mother or not, assuming that his story is that he does know her. Don't reveal that we saw him earlier, at least not yet.

"What happened?" you ask, wary of this man's presence.

"There was an accident on the cruise," he says calmly. "I came here immediately after I was notified." The man looks to be sizing you up carefully. It's as if he's just as wary of you as you are of him. "She asked me to contact you and explain things to you."

You look between him and the office worker -- it's a different woman than the one from before. You're nervous about this. "Well, I'm here," you say. "Explain things to me."

"Excuse me," the man says, turning to the office worker. "Is there a place I could speak to Anon-kun in private? This is delicate."

"Sure," she says, pointing to a room. "That room should be empty."

"Thank you." He heads over calmly and opens the door, ushering you inside. Once you're in, he steps in and closes the door behind him. He stares at you, then you hear the door lock. "Now then..." You see him walking around the room with something small in his hand. "Your mother's accident wasn't life-threatening, thankfully," he says, passing by one wall, "But she was airlifted to a hospital in Madras." He passes another wall and looks at you. "That's in India, if your geography isn't quite your best subject." He turns past another wall, continuing his story. "She's going to be stationed at the hospital there fore a few days, maybe longer." His path leads him back around the wall by the door, and he stops, nodding. "All clear."
>>
You stare at him. "What the hell are you talking about?" you ask. "Who are you?"

"Hmm? Oh, yes, my apologies. I was just checking the room to see if it was bugged. I can't exactly trust anything these days." His eyes narrow as he looks at you. "Everything I've told you is a lie, Anon-kun. There was no accident, and your mother is fine. I was using that story as a cover, obviously."

"For what? You still haven't told me who you are."

He looks at you and appears to choose his words carefully. "You know of the Destiny Syndicate?" he asks simply. You nod. "There can't be such a large group without some insurrectionists, can there? People who don't exactly agree with everything they do? I'm one of those people. I'd be what you could consider an insurrectionist under a regime of tyranny created by the Destiny Syndicate."

You say nothing, letting him continue. "You know when to let someone talk. You're wise beyond your age." He sighs and leans against a wall. "I'm a part of a group of like-minded individuals that fight the Syndicate. We know about the Mobile Gears, and no, I'm not at liberty to explain how we know about them. We're trying to keep them liberated, and if possible, prevent them from being abused. That's all you need to know, really."

"No," you say, shaking your head. "I need to know a lot more than just that, such as why you called me out here in the first place. I'm glad there are people out there actually fighting those bastards, but seriously? What can I do?"

"What can you do, indeed?" he asks. "From what I understand, you crossed paths with a man named Ramius Baldur. That's a rare feat."

"I had help," you say honestly.

"Perhaps. Last time you met him, you left him in pieces. I've been keeping tabs on him, and when I found out he was moving, it was too late." He frowns. "He had already gotten to Saiyama-san."

"How do you know her?" you ask, dancing carefully around some sensitive information.

"I know a lot about you, Anon-kun," you explain. "You and your friends. Roslyn, specifically."

He eyes you carefully, and almost appears reluctant to say anything. "My assignment is Roslyn Reinhardt," he states matter-of-factly.

"That doesn't exactly make sense," you say.

"We all have guardian angels, Anon-kun. You could say I'm hers."

"Guardian angel...?" You frown.

"My job," he says, exasperated, "Is to protect Roslyn Reinhardt. Unfortunately, I'm a week behind because her father decided to move rather suddenly. I didn't find about it until a few days ago, and I've just recently arrived." He grins. "Of course, that's when I heard from my contact about your involvement."

"Your contact?" you repeat, bewildered.

"Heh, all you've been doing is repeating what I've been saying, Anon-kun." He stands up straight. "Listen, for now, just go back to doing what you're doing. I'm currently monitoring the situation with Saiyama, and I'll let you know more about that as I get the information."

"How will you contact me?" you ask.

"I've got your cellphone number and I know where you live," he says simply. "I'll get a hold of you, one way or another." He unlocks the door and starts to leave, but you stop him.

"Wait, you know my name, but who are you?"

He turns back to you and looks you in the eyes and says, "Call me Crossfire."
