The thing that makes it so terrible is it corrupts the soul, turning you into a void that endlessly wants to be filled with "bodily secretions", or an overflowing cup that must be emptied. Indeed, I can't remember the name, but there is a Lilim in the MGE (Fallen Maidens supplement) that goes around intentionally corrupting women, who in turn go and corrupt those around them. I'm afraid we're dealing with one of her victims. She's outright stated to be among the strongest Lilim in existence, she loves her job, she's got followers, and she wants to corrupt everything. That's why I asked INH if that's who we're dealing with indirectly. Crossing her by undoing her "work" would be a wonderful ticket to some serious shit. In a way I hope we are, but in a way I really hope we ain't. She's like Id, only with a hard on for sex and corruption instead of death and destruction. Not an enemy we want to face if we can avoid it.

Mylen's chances of dying are related to how far the corruption has already penetrated her body, not in how far it can go. So unless the mechanism for stopping the corruption somehow slows down our extraction process or makes it easier for Mylen to regenerate, there's no reason to think it will help.

You cross eyes with Mylen once more, she simply give you a small hint of smile before you break your line of sight, walking to the door while lifting a chair, using it as a perfect obstacle for the door in case anyone decide to blow your cover by entering unannounced, you had to navigate carefully in the dark while leaving the two other girls by themselves.

There’s a sound of movement when your back is turned, prompting you to look and see Mylen standing up, one hand on the table while her wings flex lightly, she’s a bit taller than you are and the incredibly long hair cascading down her back reach well behind her knees, the deep dark raven colors absorbing the milky light of the moon, and in her hand is a spear and shield.

She’s armed, there was absolutely no hint of those weapons when you were a few feet from her, but the weapons themselves look… crudely made? The spear is small, probably the length of her arm while the shield simply look to be a round piece of protection looking more similar to a buckler, with the wood looking old despite being solidly fixed, you also see that the tip of her weapon seem to be in obsidian instead of metal, with a brief serpentine twist before the stone.

If Tsu's illusion is broken, we don't HAVE to say that she's the Queen of Zipang. We've got the story of being a healer; would it be THAT out of the ordinary for a healer that deals in extracting corruption to have an aide who is a monster and can therefore measure corruption levels?

What I'm getting at is that with the AT field up, Mylen's given us a chance to have Hadraniel and Tsu use their magic without outside interference, and we could still speak with the King if we want, as long as Tsu doesn't say she's a Queen, and sticks to the 'healer's aide' story.

Now that was one of the best moments in that entire series. Music was used in that kind of situation and it was truly awesome, but for this quest I think we're mainly aiming for feels. Heart-pumping badass beats are awesome, but I don't think they fit here (I still love em' though).

Also I say fight to restrain. We want to stop her, to make her give us a chance to hear us out. You can defeat someone without killing or severly injuring them, it's just hard. But INH don't like it easy so we just gotta roll with it and pray the dice gods continue to show us their favor.

Even if you say that, your hand draw the sword-shrine in one swoop while Mylen stay completely silent, although the constant bored look has warped to some form of excitement, the brilliant red eyes tell of her enjoyment along with her quiet, constant smile.

‘’This woman…’’

No doubt Tsu is more than a little surprised, after all you come in here and offer to help, you get someone wanting to fight to death, but the Youko is looking at Mylen with a closed, serious expression, then reach inside her traveling clothes.

‘’Don’t’’

She freeze while looking up at you, before having her gaze travel down to the sword leaking its brilliant powder, actually lightning up the incredibly dark room before disappearing, the blade seem gorged, ready to burst, you actually feel the holy energy pulsing, realizing in that unique and ephemeral powder…

And then you swing, a silent, simple horizontal slash while feeling a mixture of alarm and sadness, freed from its prison the blade finally unleash its inhabitant who appear in a shower of brilliance, hovering above ground and nearly touching the roof, two set of wings as bright as lamps amidst the darkness, body covered in armor with a solid look toward the would-be succubus, her hand holding this spear as long as a halberd, the angel remain silent while Mylen expression barely changed.

‘’A man worth can be found in his might, intellect or retinue…’’

Mylen add a rather sinister laugh, it actually sounds cheesy but you spot a brief puff of black fume escaping her mouth…

‘’We are isolated’’

Hadraniel suddenly cut in, having ceased her levitation and taking a high stance, spear pointed at Mylen.

At least the room is too small for an aerial battle, you spot Tsukiyomi with one of her Ofuda between her fingers and can only let out a growl, it doesn’t seem like she’s going to use it however, but she whisper a ‘’precaution’’ before walking out of reach.

And then, right when you look back at Mylen, she suddenly charge at the angel who meet her head on, the two girls meet in a clash that soon become a constant exchange of parry, feint and dodging meant to probe the foe ability instead of outright kill, and from the clash you feel corruption emanating from the succubus.

Hadraniel reach would allow you to sneak some opportune strike, but it doesn’t seem like Mylen is concentrating on you, despite her earlier speech.

No doubt the Regalia possess more ability than this isolation field.

"Hadraniel: fight to subdue!’’

You quickly scream when the two force a distance, the stalemate both women are locked in is quite something: even if the spear and shield look fragile, Mylen is perfectly able to blocks and deflects Hadraniel strikes but the reach of her two handed spear, along with her wings actually providing her more ease of movements, meant that Mylen can only score glancing blows across her peerless blue armor.
It’s very dangerous stalemate, combined with the relative small size of the room (for a battle at least), Hadraniel isn’t able to use her greatest asset: the mobility provided by her wings, but she also seem to be holding back, you don’t know what was healed when you recovered some part of her childhood.

However, right before they clash, you see your opportunity, you preemptively entered Focus during they’re little scuffle, you don’t bother pointing to Mylen, you step closer to them to make sure they are in your zone of influence and, a rapid cast send a flat spike barreling toward your bodyguard right when she block Hadraniel weapon and give her a good kick.

It crash right on her side, provoking a grunt as she jump out of harm way, only to be greeted by the downward slice of Hadraniel weapon (you identify it as a spear but it truly does look like a polearm of some kind).

A brief surge of magic, and the elegant winged form of your bodyguard vanish, just like that, Hadraniel slash the air.

There no time to voice any kind of astonishment, you look around you while Hadraniel retreat, but the sudden bellowing voice of Tsukiyomi save your life.

It’s completely impossible that she could have sneaked there, but nonetheless here she is, not a hint of magic despite the obsidian glowing a faint, sinister read, the spear is already on its way toward your gut, but a desperate cast in the form of a wave of water force the succubus to her shield and, literally batter it away: the magic is lost to your control and simply vanish to the side, with the weapon scoring a flesh wound across your side instead of an outright pierce.
She’s not messing around, Mylen eyes are glowering, each breathe coming out of her come in fume similar to the puff of a dragon.

Her elegant visage break in a smile, but whatever you wanted to say or do is interrupted when a burst of holy energy, otherwise known as the magic of angels, send Hadraniel charging right at the spearwoman, she’s looking completely inhuman with the glowing, pure white veins shining across her face, spear heal and aimed at Mylen, beds behind her literally sent flying with the wall caving in.

Went the raven haired succubus simply bring her shield forward, the Northern Regalia meet the tip of the spear of your protector whose magic charge would… probably break any fortification save a castle wall.

The force of the blow is literally transferred, for the very first time you feel magic flowing through the weapon like a faint spark, the mechanism activate and seem to light it on fire in a deluge of pure, raw might, Hadraniel magic is not only conquered: its absorbed and sent back right at her, the angel is sent to the wall with the force of a ballista, literally smashing and breaking in the stones.

‘’Your threat will end, here and now!’’

Tsukiyomi, at the far end of the room, is actually holding… six, six Ofuda between her fingers, however Hadraniel sudden charge allowed you to get away from the leather-winged woman.

Mylen was nowhere near this dramatic, perhaps fighting her rekindled some memories but the woman you remember had a fondness of acting like a (perhaps bit too close) older sister and was hopelessly lazy, despite outclassing absolutely everyone you ever saw in feat of arms.

This corruption is messing with her head; there is no other possible explanation for this.

This time you speak almost to the volume of screaming, your winged foe stay silent at your outburst but you suddenly follow with a multitude of quick cast, a shower of continuous ice spikes that, if it weren’t for the fact the Northern Regalia would block and redirect magic so effectively, would have pierced already her defense, Mylen end up forced to back up while dancing, blocking and parrying, whatever spells end up reflected at you is much easier to dodge than what she has to deal with, all her movements simply reflect clumsy projectiles.

Not that you will be able to keep up such a barrage for much longer, the link tell you that Hadraniel is fine, there is more anger than pain and even if she made a hole in the stone wall of the infirmary, you already know she stepped out, for the holiest energy of the hero is renewed upon the room, but right now you’ll need more than her help to end this quickly.

Mylen praise is breathless, you start to feel a pressure in the back of your head but then, a completely different kind of magic invade the room right when you backed your bodyguard in the corner, she disappear anew, and from there you throw water all around, like a burst bubble.

The trace of her feet is seen, but Tsukiyomi has finished her incantation.

8 long and beautiful tails sprout from behind her, all but phasing through the clothes that can’t accommodate such a volume, the head of the queen-mother welcome back the set of vulpine ears and while you allow yourself a breathe when Hadraniel and Mylen are locked in a brief scuffle, the ofuda in Tsukiyomi hands come alight, burning in fierce blue before engulfing her hands.

You notice that her right eye has grown completely black beside her golden iris.

And then she wave her arm, her leftmost tail disappear but from her sides, six circle of flames contained within words where six quadruped creatures, stout and bulky, emerge in full flame, Tsukiyomi open palm ball in a fist, it would seem she can see Mylen and… so can you, but not Hadraniel, the angel has received a few stab saved by her armor, but, now that you think about it, you aren’t in the field of vision of the succubus.

But the duel is interrupted, for the six flaming silhouette charge soundlessly, evaporating the water on the ground while Hadraniel burst backward, the fierce wind knocking Mylen back but before she can move, you lock her in place with a wave of gelatinous, sticky and solid water.

Even so, no emotions aside annoyance on your bodyguard face, she thrust the Regalia on one of those creature and it dies off soundlessly, batter another that meet the same fate but the third one literally explode, without scorching her, the flame enter her body without harm, but then the others three charges as ones, merge in a single balls and batter your bodyguard, sending her to the floor yet the flames, again, enter her body, provoking a violent coughing fit, and then Hadraniel force her to the ground with a solid armored kick.

And just like that it’s over.

One angel bleeding, holding a coughing succubus who, for the first time, look alarmed with a fluffy lover vomiting a black, disgusting tar on the far end of the room.

Thankfully the isolation of the Regalia is still going on.

You sprint to the weakened queen-mother; the beast inside you seemed to have been as focused as you were on the battle but now that everything calmed down, with the corruption being let out by both Tsukiyomi and Mylen…

You actually have to pause your stride, holding your chest as the pain lock you in place, the hunger seep and form some kind of… ball? A single point in the middle of your chest, hurting like you swallowed something spiky, but you walk forward to Tsukiyomi who is hiding her right eye, looking up at you with a strained face.

‘’Don’t… It’s okay, the hard part is not releasing too much power, this… coughing is me getting rid of some excess’’

How can you not worry about her? That spell was absolutely incredible; you spot some pure, jet black lines escaping the palm covering her eyes, the missing tail hasn’t regrown.

‘’Let’s go see her, shall we?’’

Across the room, form the window, show the deep dark night, calm and quiet.

Hadraniel is restraining the Succubus who isn’t even trashing; Mylen is laying face on the ground, one hand in the middle of her chest and once you and Tsukiyomi (who is still hiding her leaking eye) are in range, you hear her voice, strained, hurt and a bit out of breath yet without any kind of alarm.

‘’It burn inside.’’

Those invocations literally jumped in her, no doubt it burns!

‘’Pain according to your corruption, if you were fully transformed it would have lit you on fire from the inside’’

Despite constant trembling, Tsu look down on your bodyguard, her tone and mannerism translate the obvious: she’s pissed.

‘’I wanted my little prince to beat me, that’s all.

The fact you two fought with such spirit…you’ve grown’’

Her praise is genuine, even if nonchalant, she… she really doesn’t seem to be corrupted, despite the red eyes and leather wings.

‘’We came for you, Mylen, the climax of your life doesn’t have to be so soon’’

Hadraniel suddenly speak, but doesn’t move.

‘’I wonder about that…’’

I thought as much. Still, consuming most of the corruption will essentially make her into a kind of half-succubus. She should be more than able to stave off a weaker version of those impulses given her frankly insane willpower. At least it won't be like in this pic (SFW, but it is... descriptive of the thought process of a succubus).

How does one "almost" have a bad end? Does he kill everyone in the room but himself before Siggy finally retakes the stage from this "thing" in his mind? Does he force them to burn a fate point to survive? They live, but are horribly maimed because of that? (Dark Heresy rules say you can always survive if you burn, but it costs you big somehow). Again, to me "Bad" ends are a kind of all in thing. You die, or everyone else does. Still, I think the beast is also like Id. It can try to assert control and does gain dominance at certain points, but it isn't in "complete" control like Citan said. Major expenditures of power or being confronted with the possibility of killing a loved one allow a save that enables the character to reassert control despite its wishes. The stronger the love/bigger the expenditure, the bigger the bonus to the save. Eventually, it gets to the point of auto-success sans a nat 1 and it leaves the stage, but not before laying on some major hurt.
