The day still young, both you and Gestalt walk through the city of Vernegard and talk about the past. "I..." she stutters in her speech like always. A moment ago, she was in tears, now she's doing her best to retrieve the pieces of her shattered psyche.

"It's alright, you don't have to force yourself."

"I.. I do. I really h-have to." Gestalt denies it. The temptation to slap her across the face is immense, but that will probably backfire. The thought relents itself.

"You're not going to take anything I say into account, so I'll just stop." it really was a fruitless effort if Gestalt didn't take anything you said seriously, so why bother?

"It's not t-that." the white-haired girl shakes her head. "I'm just trying t-to think a-about stuff. I'm sorting it out. Give m-me time." the girl still stutters and tries to extend her speech beyond four or five words.

"Do you want to talk about it? Migh help you sort things out that way, or do you want me to shut up and keep you company?" this was a little hard to deal with. Gestalt wants help, but she doesn't want to talk about it. She's not exactly giving you a large variety of options, so the best thing to do now is to talk up front.

"I-It's... complicated."

"What, is this a break up? Hehehe." a light-hearted chuckle escapes you. Gestalt looks away uncomfortably. Wow, it's really hard to talk like this with her. It just gets more awkward. The tension gets thicker with each passing second. It's rather suffocating for the both of you. You saw the same images that she saw, probably through the Varian sync. "So Gestalt, your real name is Cie-"

"Please don't c-call me that." she cuts you off before you can even finish the sentence.

"What... why?"

"Only... my s-sister can c-call me that."

>"Whatever you say, Ciel."
>"Alright, alright, I get it. I'm leaving."

"You're really worried about this, arne't you? I understand that you're worried, though, after suddenly getting so much back."

"Y-yeah." Gestalt doesn't answer with a full sentence. She just nods her head, says one word, and walks on. Knowing what the problem is is certainly one thing, but solving it? Completely different ball field.

"So what do you want to do?"

"I don't k-know. I just want t-to be a-alone for now."

That irks you.

From the bottom of your heart, it causes you pain. She always wants to be alone, always off in the distance where no one can see her. Something about that just makes you mad. Weren't you there for her? Weren't the others there for her?

>"Why do you keep running away?"
>"Alright, you can be alone. It's fine."
>What to do?

Not really one to criticize here, Freddie.

>"Why do you keep running away?"
"Running away isn't always the answer, you know. I'm intimately familiar with that."
>>
>>20674031
"You probably think it's best to deal with you're problems on your own and that others would just be annoyed if you asked for help. Just remember that I -and everyone else- would gladly help you, whatever you need. I'll leave you alone now, though; If you really think it's best."

Distancing oneself away from those who want to help, or those you can make friends with hurts. Once again, Brunstault is right about you, yourself, being a hypocrite, but you didn't care. Gestalt was going to make the same mistake, distancing herself from those that can help her.

"Gestalt."

The girl turns to face you.

"You realize running away won't solve anything, right? If you keep going on alone, you're just going to keep the pushing the people that want to help you away." you were speaking to Gestalt and yourself. "If you keep doing it like this, I know exactly what will happen. You'll lock yourself up forever, not wanting to share your pain with others. If you think it'll inconvenience us, it won't. You think it'll annoy us? No, it hurts us when you don't even consider talking to us. I've only known you for a short time, yes, but I'd still like to help you in anyway I can."

Ciel, Gestalt, whichever name the lone girl went by, turns away from you, with her eyes closed. "... Y-you t-think you u-understand? ...Do you?"

>Yes, I understand it.
>I'm not saying I understand.
>What to do?

"I don't, because you wont let me understand. I want to help but I don't know how."

"I'm not saying I understand what you've gone through, I don't think anyone can. I'm saying that keeping it to yourself won't help you and it's just going to isolate you further-"

"W-what gives you t-the right t-to lecture m-me on this?"

"Huh?"

"Y-you... I know how y-you feel. I feel it t-through the Varian link." the originally monotone girl looks to the ground, gritting her teeth. "I'm fine. I'm fine. Don't bother me a-anymore." she pivots on her leg, and walks onward, completely disregarding your advice and your care.

"Wait, Gestalt!"

"DON'T follow m-me!"

"I... uh.."

"Don't." afterward, she vanishes as she runs away into the plaza.

Nothing you could say or do would get through to her. Was she one of those kinds of people? So stubborn, it was like talking to a brick wall? It certainly seems that way. Her own logic overwrites those that she talks to, and she can't understand, or maybe she doesn't want to. "Later." is all that escapes your lips as you turn tail and walk the other way.

That girl was so infurirating. "Tch... Gestalt, I'm just trying to help." the walk away, you have your hands in your pockets, just trying to think of a solution but there was none. You've tried talking to her, showing her, and that was it. The frustration of being helpless wasn't something you could cope well with.

It just annoys you. It prods at you from the inside out.

"D-dammit..." something awakens. A deep desire to help Gestalt, regardless of her words, regardless of everything around you. Something eggs you on from the inside. 'Go to her. Go to her.' it says.

>Push the feeling inside, it's just you being altruistic

Bah. Fine. Give it one last shot. Maybe if she can feel us through the Varian link, we can feel her feelings as well and this is the result of that.
>>
>>20674403
It might be the Varian link. It does go both ways. Gestalt could be asking for help.
No way to know, just something yo think about.

The screaming voice from inside wins. It was getting annoying, and even unmanagable. To satisfy its whim, you turn around and run through the crowd, trying to catch up to the lonely girl. It was still yelling at you, that voice.

Something is wrong. Terribly wrong, but you can't fight against the voice that continues to call upon you from the far reaches of your heart. There's a large staircase now that leads up to a balcony that overlooks the clouds below.

Someone could jump off of it.

Gestalt's sorrow finally reaches you.

It's then silenced.

>Go check the balcony

"GESTALT!" the run up the stairs is a quick one. One step after another and you're there in no time. "Gestalt!" you look down the balcony, and into the sea of clouds below. There it is, the magnificent figure of the Varian.

'This is my burden. No one else can carry it. Not even those who care about me. I'm sorry, Cassandra.'

Those thoughts are Gestalt's. "What are you doing?" you already know the answer before even opening your mouth. It's natural that the Varian know where Herious is, they're both counterparts. Gestalt is going alone to fight and defeat the monster. Wait, that means that Herious is alive! "Wait, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?" you lean over the balcony, unable to reach Gestalt.

That idiot. Suicide. It was suicide.

"Oh, seems you're in quite the pickle!" an unwelcome voice. The voice of the man whom you hate, the man whom you despise with such righteous fury. "Sup partner?" Clive adjusts his derby. "Wanna draw?"

>"What are you planning?"
>Fuck Clive, leap off the balcony

There was no choice in the matter. Clive wasn't important, as antagonistic as he is. One single jump, and you land on the railing of the balcony. "Nope." you stretch your arms out as if you were about to fly. The heels of your shoes tilt backward, as does your legs, and soon your entire body follows. The white hair on your hand dances haphazardly as the wind assails it. "GESTALT!" using your body, you turn to face the oncoming silver and black machine.

She looks up as she freefalls down to the same location as you. "I TOLD YOU N-NOT TO FOLLOW!"

"DENIAL!" you flick her on the head as you catch up. Afterward, you take her hands into your own.
"W-what?"

"I know I don't understand, but help me too! I know I'm not the brightest nor the strongest, but I can do my best as your friend! Trust me, believe in me for once, GESTALT!" you embrace her in a powerful hug as the two of you continue the descent into the Underworld and toward the Varian.

Once you reach the silver machine, you reach a hand outward toward the cockpit. A large, black circle blasts out before transforming into a multi-colored field of energy. "Huh...?" Gestalt watchs in amazement while still in your arms. Both of you materialize through the outside of the machine, and inside the cockpit. With Gestalt sitting on your lap, you look onto the screen to see the clouds covering the Underworld below.

"Don't you forget, we're partners, so we have to do this together." a faint smile toward Gestalt. The clouds below, the ones which shroud the Underworld in an everlasting darkness, even when the sun shines in the sky.

"Looks like we're doing this." the thin, green threads that connect both you and Gestalt to the varian attach to the controls. "These people need hope, they need light so I'm going to finally give it to THEM!" the Varian begins to glow bright with the same multi-colored energy as before. Clive looks on from the balcony of Vernegard, a wide smile on his face. The Varian's wings begin to glow a bright green, then turn white. Afterward, what can only be described as a twisting rainbow bursts out from the back of the Varian. It reaches into the sky, beyond the atmosphere and into the outer rim of the planet of Aldria. It expands outward, like a tree, and soon encompasses 1/4th of the globe.

"What...the..." citizens in the Underworld look up into the sky, seeing the brightest light in the sky since the sun had been taken from them 1500 years ago. "Mommy, what's that?" one child says to her mother.

The wings dip down into the cloud cover, ripping it to pieces upon contact. It soon expands, its touch encompassing the entirety of the world. Soon, the wings vanish and the energy recedes back into the Varian. "Looks like I did it. Wasn't that hard." you sigh, looking back toward Gestalt who's awe struck. Her eyes, her face, it's frozen in place.

"Hey, Gestalt, are you okay?"

"... That ..." she can hardly form a single word.

"N-no. Those clouds w-were actually r-remnants of Darkwyrm f-from 1500 years ago. I couldn't destroy t-them... you just d-did." she was still in shock as she spoke. "How? How?" a question that you want to know the answer to escapes Gestalt's lips.

"To be honest? I really just thought about it and did it."

"How?" Gestalt asks once again.

"I don't know." she sits down, still snuggly in your lap.

"Why don't we ask.. Brunstault?" Gestalt mumbles to herself.

In the city of Vernegard, there are people cheering for the gigantic rainbow tree that just appeared in the sky only a few seconds ago. It was magnificent, something of unmatched beauty. A gift from the Gods above, they thought. The Varian moves close to the ground and soon dissipates where Clive once was. Now, the guy was gone. Typical for a coward. The Varian vanishes into thin air as the two of you descend to the ground.

Gestalt is still in your hands.

"Well, let's get going to see Brunstault." she's sitting in your arms, in a bridal carry. She doesn't look at your or say anything she's completely quiet the entire walk. "Oh, right, sorry." you laugh to yourself and place the girl to the ground.

The nod is the only reply you get.

"I'm sorry if I offended you, or anything."

"..." no reply.

And it continues like this until you get to the inn.
