TG QUEST!

ON THE LAST EPISODE OF TG QUEST!
Cheryl managed to defeat a Silent Hill influenced Bloodsucker and Chimera as she traversed the zone, then overwhelmed a Controller and its Combine thralls. However, her armor was damaged in all the fighting. Looting a store of guns there, Cheryl also finds a few pieces of prefabricated dark metal, a Combine PDA, and a strange device.

>Stopping to examine the boxy device reveals that one end of it breaks into two halves to reveal a side covered in fine protrusions of varying sizes. The computer screen on the other end responds well enough to the controls, but all are labelled in the same alien script.
>>
>>20750660
Alright, any of us know Combine?
Come on, hasn't anyone gone through the TG Intelligence courses on Meta-Languages?
>>
Currently you are clad in a Mass Effect Hardsuit, and armed with an Abakan, a Makarov, a SPAS-12, an MP-7, and a few guns you'll probably end up selling.

You have enough canned food and water to last for a while, a grenade, and a supply of anti-rad drugs.
>>
>>20750697
Sadly, none of you are fluent in the language used by the Universal Union, or "Combine".
>>
>>20750697
I went through the courses, but mostly focused on fantasy languages. If you need someone that can speak Dwarf, I'm your man.

>>20750731
Can we have Cheryl try to break the Combine armor down into a "Omnigel" or something close so she can repair her armor?
>>
I know all about Combines!

oh wait. no, that was my field experience on Harvest Moon's universes. So many mary sue self inserts going after the MCs. made good use of a pitchfork though.

I do know Swahili and Huttesse though
>>
>>20750731
Damnit. Alright. Let's take the Combine PDA, some samples of the dark metal.

"Cheryl, see if you can break down some of that Combine armor to repair the hardsuit."
>>
rolled 94 = 94

>>20750775
"I'm feeling pretty tired right now, but I'll give it a shot."
>>
...So Common Consciousness accidentally activated Cheryl's 'make things Silent Hill' ability.
And it's been confirmed that one of the people operating here is a version of Commander Shepherd?
Why aren't we all being killed by nightmare versions of the Reapers?
>>
>>20750809
Against all odds, Cheryl fights through the mental exhaustion and 'melts' down a good chunk of the Combine body armor into a thick gray paste, shattering the molecular bonds of the material and rearranging them. The paste floats over to her armor and patches the holes, repairing it as best as Cheryl can without detailed knowledge of the suit's workings.

Way to go, Cheryl!

Adrian Shephard
Shephard, a 22-year old U.S. Marine Corporal, is the player's character in Half-Life: Opposing Force. Assigned to the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit (HECU) from the fictional Santego Military Base in Arizona, he is one of the personnel sent into the Black Mesa Research Facility to kill the aliens and silence the witnesses, especially a scientist named Gordon Freeman, the player character in the original game. However, during the events subsequent to the "Resonance Cascade", Adrian finds himself separated from his unit and fighting for his life.
>>
>>20750845
Not Commander Shepherd, Corporal Shephard. From Half-Life: Opposing Force.
Another employee of the G-Man, like Dr. Freeman.

>>20750859
Alright, let's get back to the Skadovsk and offload some of this stuff to Nimble and see if we examined the right caves.

Also, have we been able to confirm if this is a post-End Canon? Degytarev seems to have already breached Pripyat, and this is post-game.
If so, we don't have to keep people away from this Combine outpost too hard.
>>
>>20750859

Alright Cheryl, I think we're done for now. Head back to the Skad, it's not far. We'll ask Nimble if that was the right cave, and if not we'll head out again tomorrow. Sell off the MP-7s, and their ammo, and get some 5.45, a couple mags of AP if you can, and see if you can get up to 48 rounds of buckshot and a few slugs. As well, you might want to get some 9x18 or replace your Makarov with a 1911 or some form of 9mm, or a double-stack .45 if it's comfy enough.
>>
>>20750961
Though not a matter of weight, the bulk of all the items is an issue as you try to make off with everything.

Please prioritize what you want to take, or think up a way to nullify the bulk issue.
>>
>>20751026

The hardsuit has enough magnetic hardpoints for at least 4 guns, we can carry the Abakan in our hands, and "glue" the rest to the suit with the magnets, those should be automatic. If not, tape or psychic dickery?
>>
>>20751063
That'll work for the most part, but you'll have to leave most of the metal pieces behind with this method.
>>
>>20751105

What about the duffel bag?

Or are they too big?

Do we have duct tape?
>>
>>20751026
Take all the guns, since we're going to be selling most of them. Take the Combine PDA. Attach a couple of the rifles to the magnetic hardpoints on the hardsuit. That should get them out of the way and open up more space in the duffel bag.
Keep the anti-rad drugs, and a day's worth of food and water. Also, the regular PDA we got.
>>
>>20751137
The odd device takes up a lot of space in the bag, the guns not on the suit and other supplies filling up most of the rest.

You do not have any duct tape, no.
>>
>>20751167

Well, the answer is obvious. Find a way to psychic up some duct tape or some form of load-bearing harness to carry more stuff. If you can, Cheryl, don`t strain yourself. The device and a couple scraps of metal should be fine.
>>
rolled 90 = 90

>>20751176
I don't think we can create items out of thin air.
Oh well, might as well roll for it.
>>
>>20751167
Let's not take the odd device, then. We can come back for it later after we've sold the guns and gotten a bigger backpack.
>>
rolled 41 = 41

>>20751176
"Er... OK... Well, plenty of scrap to work with..." Cheryl murmurs, looking around. "If I use the duffel and some of those boxes, maybe I can jury rig some sort of backpack to fit over the weapon-pack..."
>>
Cheryl, don't you have telekinesis?
I think this might be an excellent opportunity to test your endurance in that area.
Of course, you'd have to be ready to drop the stuff if another Stalker is nearby.
>>
>>20751209
Cheryl bends and twists a lot of metal around, but in the end her creation is too heavy and too uncomfortable to be of any real use." She winces. "Sorry..."

>>20751198
Ditching the odd device will open up enough space to take more of the metal, but there's enough metal there that taking it all probably isn't feasible.
>>
>>20751209
In HL2, when you find Combine out in the middle of nowhere, there is usually a car nearby hooked to a charger.

Look for one.
>>
>>20751213
"Huh. I didn't think of that. I guess I could drag everything along for a sustained period of time. But if someone sees... won't that kinda blow my cover? I don't think people will believe me if I tell them I have a pet Anomaly following me around."
>>
>>20751230
Seconding this.
There might be a car around since this was set up as a Combine outpost.
>>
>>20751230

Not in the zone we're not, anomalies make them deathtraps.

And don't worry Cheryl, the device is more important, just take what you can, the guns and device are most important. Besides, if we end up coming back, we can take the rest.
>>
>>20751246
>>20751230
Cheryl looks around the area for a Combine armored car and fails to find one.
>>
>>20751238
...I haven't really noticed, but what's the terrain like?
Maybe you can lift the things... an inch or two above and it might not register?
>>
Lets ditch most of the metal for now.

If need be, we can come back for it.

All we need is a small sample.
>>
>>20751261
Alright, then let's ditch the metal and the device for now, except for 1 sample of the metal. We'll trade it to Nimble.
It shouldn't count as Meta-contamination considering that this place is nothing but anomalies.
>>
rolled 55 = 55

>>20751306
>>20751269
>>20751251
Cheryl loads up on the rest of the gear and the sample of metal and starts making her way back to the beached tanker-base of the Stalkers.
>>
>>20751325
Cheryl reaches the Skadovsk, having fought off only a pack or two of mutant dogs and a zombified Stalker along the way. With her powers and new armament, this proves as easy as slicing a cake.

On reaching the ship, Cheryl enters and quickly finds Nimble, who is in the ship's upper decks. Looking up from a stool near a porthole, Nimble smiles.

"So you return. What did you bring me?"
>>
>>20751325

Before I forget, Cheryl, make sure that your Abakan is loaded and set on 2 round bursts.

Don't forget to check your six.
>>
>>20751353
Show him the metal, and the loot we decide we don't need.
>>
>>20751353
Yup, that's his little hangout spot.
We've got a lot for him, and took down a controller near the area. Not to mention all the rifle's you'd magiced up and stashes we'd found.
>>
>>20751353
A pile of guns I took from some guys that had been zombified by a controller.

Also, a weird piece of metal I found after I shot the fuck out of it.
>>
>>20751353

I'm not sure if it was the cave you're looking for, but I killed a controller at a cave just northeast of the burnt farmstead, there was no anomalies in the cave, but it looked like the combine was setting up an OP there, without knowing it was a controller lair. They died too. I have some goodies, if you want them, MP7s and something that I think is a computer or uplink.
>>
>>20751353
"Show him the cave that we explored, and confirm that it was what he wanted checked out.
"Tell him that there was a Controller and two Combine troopers there. Looks like the troopers were being mind-controlled by the Controller.
"Trade him the sample of metal, see what he'll get you for it. And see if he can switch the Stalker PDA we got from Russian to English."
>>
>>20751385
No, we're not giving him a Combine computer system.
>>
>>20751385

Oh, and I killed a Chimera at Izumrudnoye.
>>

Cheryl, does that PDA you picked up look like the part of this picture the girl is working on?
>>
>>20750731

I can speak fluent Hodor though.

...stop staring, dammit.
>>
>>20751410
Ah, Hodor. The only language adequate to express the feelings of a retarded stable boy.
>>
>>20751365
>>20751376
"I found this at the site," Cheryl says, producing a few plates of the strange metal. Nimble takes them with interest, examining them carefully.

"Interesting... I can't identify this. A new alloy? or something the anomalies made... Hmmm..." he flicks the metal with a finger, experimentally. "I'll send this along to some friends of mine. I'll give you 20,000 roubles for these samples. Do you have anything else?"
>>
>>20751456

Done.

Show him the MP7s. Them H&K guns should be worth a good deal here.
>>
>>20751410
I noticed.

>>20751406
"Yeah, it does."

>>20751392
"I found a Controller at the site, he'd turned some soldiers into zombies there. Also... can you translate this PDA?" Cheryl asks, presenting the Stalker's PDA. Nimble takes the item and looks it over.

"Certainly. I can also buy those excess weapons from you, if you like," he replies.
>>
>>20751456
"Cheryl, offer one of the MP7's. Keep the other for yourself. It's a good PDW you should keep."

Here's our current inventory:
Makarov
12 9x18

1200RU
Combat Knife
Binoculars
Anomaly Detector (Veles)
PDA
Medkit
Tourist's Delight
Roll of bandages
bloodleach tentacles
SPAS-12
62 shells
scrap of paper with scribbles
AC-96/2 Obokan
2 mags 5.45mm

grenade

Stalker PDA
TRS-301
Vintar
2 SPAS-12
2 MP7
2 packs of Vinca
120 rounds 4.7mm
Combine PDA
>>
>>20751480
Sell:
1 MP7
2 SPAS-12

Should we sell the TRs-301, or keep the Abakan?
Sell the Vintorez, or keep it?
>>
>>20751511

NO. SAVE THE SPAS.

There are problems only a faceful of shot will solve.
>>
>>20751456

2 MP7s, some 4.7mm for them.

(I'm not 100% if we should ditch the VSS. It's heavy and another ammo type we have to carry, but it's nearly silent and 9x39 is VERY good at both penetrating armor within it's range and killing targets. I'm also not sure if we should give Nimble the combine computer. We might need it later.)

As it stands, we've got, what 2 mags for the Abakan? Get another 6 magazines of FMJ 5.45 from Nimble, 2 of AP, I'm not sure what our shotgun ammo is like, but we might want some slugs.

If we're keeping the VSS, get 4 mags of 9x39 SP-6.

As well, get a pack, like this, if we can find one:
http://www.tacticaltailor.com/packs_bags/packs/extended-range-operator-pack
>>
>>20751519
We have 3 SPAS-12's. I doubt we need the 2 extra ones.
>>
>>20751540

Wait, we have 3?

My apologies. I cannot into reading.
>>
>>20751484

We don't want to keep the MP7. 4.7mm is hard to find, it has poor terminal performance against un or lightly armored opponents, and we'd be reliant on slaughtering combine goons for it. Better to keep the Abakan for CQ, it's an assault rifle, not carbine length, but not long, either. The SPAS can also be used, since it has a folding stock, so it has a reasonable OAL for indoor fighting.

Personally I think the hard deicision is the VSS.
>>
>>20751531
No, we shouldn't give up the Combine computer.
And we should keep one of the MP7's as it's a good PDW for use in tight quarters.
>>
>>20751540
But what if we need to tri-wield with telekinesis?
>>
>>20751556

Sorry, I didn't mean HARD to find.

I meant IMPOSSIBLE. It's a proprietary cartridge type and we shouldn't tie ourselves to needing to kill combine for ammunition.

LOGISTICS, PEOPLE. LOGISTICS!
>>
>>20751556
However, we already have 120 rounds of 4.7mm, and it's very likely that we'll be fighting lots of Combine.
On top of that, we can use it against pseudo-dogs and other unarmored Zone hazards without using up ammo that can be used on armored targets.
>>
>>20751574
But we're going to be killing Combine. If past games are any indication, the G-Man is going to be throwing us against Combine forces, so 4.7mm ammo is going to be easy to acquire, because we'll be killing Combine for the most part.

Besides, it's still better than a Makarov for when we need to operate with the detector out.
>>
The MP7 problem will solve itself.

If we run into more combine, we kill combine, loot combine.

Instant MP7 + ammo.

I say sell the lot.
>>
>>20751599
But will that be before or after we have to go through an area with the detector out? I'd rather have the MP7 in our other hand than a Makarov.
>>
>>20751575
>>20751597
>>20751632

4.7mm has TERRIBLE terminal effect on unarmored targets. We'd be better of with the Mak.

As it stands, we also want to travel light. Sell the MP7s, maybe even the VSS (I'm not 100% on that myself), get a gas-mask, a pack like I mentioned in >>20751531 , and ammo. We're good on food, but we might want a couple more bandages.
>>

We should probably sell the TRs-301 since it has a much higher maintenance requirement than the Abakan.
And the Abakan, being an AK derivative, should be easier for Cheryl to take care of.

And have Cheryl see if Nimble has this or any similar combat packs available.
>>
>>20751632

We don't need to stick with what we have. we have 20k cash now. We can purchase a sidearm with more stopping power.

Maybe one of nimble's specials too.
>>
>>20751677
Nimble doesn't have a combat pack like that WITH him, but he says he can get one within a day, and a lesser quality pack within an hour.
>>
>>20751681

I'd say a double-stack 9mm (Maybe a 92FS or Glock?), since, no offense Cheryl, I doubt you have hands big enough to handle a double-stack .45 or 10mm.
>>
>>20751696
Cheryl probably could use a rest.

This time, we'll Psionically weld the door shut.
>>
>>20751696

Better to get good quality tomorrow. Can he get some magazines, medical, and utility MOLLE pouches for it too? (As well as a hydration bladder)

See what he has in terms of 9mm pistols, and ammunition. Offer at least one of the MP7s, the TRS, and all but one of our shotguns in trade.
>>
>>20751696
Cheryl, you're feeling tired, right? Do you need a night's sleep?

What time is it? Is it near night-time?
>>
>>20751677
>Abakan is AK derivative

Helllll no. Abakan is veeery different from a stock AK of any kind. The TRs is simpler, but the Abakan's 2 round burst is hella awesome.
>>
>>20751800

TBH the AN-94 is about on par in terms of maintenance as any western rifle.

The 2 round burst and unique fire control make it a beast, though, and it's reasonable accurate at it's proper range.
>>
>>20751775
"I would stop short of murder for a night's sleep."

It's early evening/late afternoon right now.

>>20751737
He can get all of that, yes. He'll offers to take the MP-7s and their ammo for it. He'll throw in some extra ammo for the Abakan too, 2 magazines worth.
>>
>>20751838

Alright. How much would another 2 magazines of standard 5.45 ball ammo, 2 of AP, and some 12 gauge slugs run? Can we get a price on 4 magazines of 9x39mm SP-6 ammunition as well?

Does he have an offer for the SPAS-12s and TRS?
>>
>>20751838
Alright, we'll wait until tomorrow, then.

Can Nimble get you a Kobra sight for the Abakan, and a reflex sight for the SPAS-12?
We need some more 5.45mm ammo for the Abakan, and 9x39mm ammo for the Vintorez.

And a better pistol than the Makarov would be nice.
>>
>>20751865
For 3 mags of 5.45 ball, 3 AP, and 24 slug shells, he'll take a SPAS-12 off your hands.
>>
>>20751929

Alright. Sell the TRS and the other SPAS for a couple F1 grenades, and 4 magazines of 9x39 SP-6 (That's the AP version).

As well, get a gas mask.
>>
>>20751838

Can he do upgrade work for the guns?
>>
>>20751964

No, that's Cardan's job. We'll go see him after. We've got enough dosh on hand to at least accurize the Abakan.
>>
>>20751960
Agreed with these, but I'd also suggest seeing if Nimble can get some accessories for our guns.
Like a Kobra or PSO-1 sight, and a flashlight, and better pistol.
>>
Don't forget about a face-concealing helmet and a cloak of some kind.
You know, at least make a cursory attempt to hide that Cheryl's a young woman in futuristic armor.
>>
>>20752005

I already suggested that, I assumed MetaOP was just thinking about it.

I'd suggest getting some binoculars, too.

But yeah, we'll want a 5x fixed PSO-1 scope, not a Kobra, the Abakan should be our ranged weapon, the SPAS for mutants and close-in.

And we're waiting on the pistol, too.
>>
>>20752034
We already got binoculars. But we have no flashlight.
>>
>>20752005

UDP Compact or P99?
>>
>>20752049

The UDP is a USP, dude, it's a double-stack .45. Unless Cheryl is built like a 6' Delta Operator, I doubt she'll be comfortable using it. I'd say either a P9m or 1911.
>>
>>20752034
A UDP compact, a PSO-1 scope, and a Sphere-8 Tactical Helmet are offered in trade for another SPAS-12.
>>
>>20752121

The M1911 is quite a hefty pistol.

It's quite hard to kill (the gun), too, though.
>>
>>20752183
First, make sure that the UDP Compact fits in Cheryl's hand and she likes the feel of it.
Also, get a poncho to hide the hard-suit. And a flashlight, and some duct tape.

>I forgot that the Sphere-8 has a built-in gasmask and night vision.
>>
>>20752183

Can we check the UDP for how it feels in our hands before we buy it? We'll take the tactical helmet and PSO-1, though, for sure. After all, we're not exactly the same build as most Stalkers.
>>
>>20752253
>>20752252
The pistol is indeed, a little unwieldy for Cheryl.

"Hey guys, what about a Beretta? I've used one of those before," Cheryl mentally asks.
>>
>>20752293
Sure. Let's see if Nimble has one in stock.
>>
>>20752293

Fine by me. Ask for a Martha pistol, that's what the one you used is called here.

Also get a few mags of +P+, we don't need regular 9x19.
>>
>>20752293

Sure, you're the one using it after all.
>>
>>20752209

Grip is surprisingly slim, and it's got fairly good balance, even for small hands.
>>
>>20752293

All these guns and no sign of my raifuru
>>
>>20752320
The UDP is switched out for the Martha and 2 extra mags of +P+, and the transaction is complete.

"Anything else?" Nimble asks.
>>
>>20752444

We have a TRS-301, if you want to buy it. As well, do you have an 9x39 SP-6 ammunition for sale?

We should sell those bloodleach 'worms' to Nimble, if he'll buy them.
>>
>>20752548

He's an arms dealer, we'd need to head over to Juptier to sell those.

Oh, see if Nimble can sell us some sealable specimen bags for mutant parts. We found some new ones but they made a bit of a mess.
>>
>>20752536

Are the scribbles in russian or combinese?

Sell that POS makarov and it's ammo.

Buy some more food and drink and abit more of medical supplies. I think Cheryl has had enough of drinking recycled water.

Does nimble happen to have an SVU-Mk2?

Would be good to replace that long sniper rifle.
>>
>>20752595
The scribbles are in Russian.

We shouldn't need to buy more food and water right now, though. We got several day's worth from the Combine outpost in the Controller Cave.
>>
>>20752595

Why the fuck do you want an SVU? No offense to Cheryl, but she isn't a trained marksman and the PSO-1 is odd enough if you aren't used to shooting period, much less not used to optics at all. It's too bulky and ammunition is too scarce and expensive to justify.
>>
>>20752477
Uplotte ehy?
Well, we do have a looter team, but breaking into a school full of kids with guns?
Though they might jump at the chance, we have a lot of good soldiers here, and this way? You can be damn sure they'll feel like they're firing for a good purpose.

On the other hand we've got laser guns and bolters and heavy plasma rifles, so the uplotte girls dont really match up, unless we go to a work were modern calibers are needed, but with all the fireman and black ops and the looming threat of the meta aware organization come to fuck us, we wont go back to fighting SUEs for a long time.

Its like... i miss it. It seemed so easy then, ghost in, try and make it like you're a part of that world, or didnt even exist at all, and now we're in the mind of a young woman all yelling at eachother.

Was trying to get Cheryl a possible upgrade. And I made a mistake. I mistook the Vintar for the much longer sniper rifle since my main concern was ease for her to carry all them weapons. I retract that suggestion.

In exchange for the TRS-301, Nimble gives you 60 rounds 9x39mm, 9 grenades, a poncho, another med-kit, and some duct tape.

When all your dealing and wheeling is completed, Cheryl finds the old safe room and locks and psionically seals the door shut. Falling instantly into a deep, dreamless sleep.

The next morning, Nimble has all your gear ready and waiting.

"Yes, yes, you checked out the site and I paid you. I'll let you know if I find more work," Nimble nods. "As for your PDA, I had a good look over it last night. Most of it was standard fare, but the last few entries were interesting. It seems whoever you took the PDA from was tailing an American soldier he saw in the Zone. He was carrying a lot of high-end weaponry, far more than he thought should've been possible. He thought he must have a stash somewhere and was going to steal it. Unfortunately, things didn't work out so well for him. The soldier never let his guard down, even when he slept, he set up tripmines to make approach impossible. The PDA's owner eventually decided to try and ambush him when he noticed the soldier heading towards a building he thought was haunted, hoping the Zone's monsters would prove distraction enough to land a killing blow. He did note that the soldier was steadily heading toward Chernobryl's power plant."
>>

Well shit, Shepard was there.
I really wonder why he's heading to Chernobyl, what was there in the STALKER games.?
>>
>>20752911

Ok, so Shepard is heading to Pripyat and CNPP. We'll need to head to Jupiter and then Pripyat.

Thank Nimble for his help, and see if he switch the PDA to English so we can use it.
>>
>>20752911

Must be Shepard. Or his distant and futuristic namesake somehow found a way to attract the G-man's attention in between punching people in the face and seducing blue women.

Wonder what could be going on in Chernobyl?

"That would be Corporal Shephard. Looks like our destination is that way as well. Freeman doesn't seem to be here, though. I don't know if that's good or bad.

The powerplant houses C-Con. Shepard probably knows more than us, since he's more of a directed attack than Freeman. Hell, he probably actually KNOWS what he needs to do. We'll need to head to Jupiter and then Pripyat to get near the CNPP, so we'll talk to Pilot in the Skad. We've got the dosh, ammo, and weapons, let's get moving.
>>
>>20753061

We know. ;_; We've known for quite some time.
>>
>>20753061

Yes. There's a guide named pilot in the Skad, he should be able to take you there for a price, and then there should be another one in Jupiter who can take you to Pripyat. After that, we'll be on our own and trying to link up with Shepard.
>>
>>20753071
Excuse my inexperience with STALKER, but what/who/ is C-Con?
>>
>>20753061
Things are going to get awkward when we do a True Rez for Juli, but that's not our business.

Anyway, yes, Jupiter. Also known as Yanov. There's a man here by the name of Pilot, who will be able to get you there for 3000RU.

Let's first go back to the Combine Outpost real quick, and grab more of the metal and the odd device before we go to Yanov.
>>
>>20753088

It's a collective consciousness that, when it was formed, created the Zone. Every Emission post-SoC is another person joining it, and simultaneously increasing the size of the Zone. It was originally the scientists in charge of the Noospere research project. IIRC it's also what the Monolith pray to.
>>
>>20753088
To explain this simply.

Lets take a bunch of /b/tards. We'll make them scientists. Now, they fuck up a very important experiment and become Psychics like Cheryl and create this zone.

That's C-con.

>>20753061

What? No way. They fight all the time. How can that ever possibly construe affection or some variation thereof. That does not compute.

It may be a good idea to link up with Shepard. Though the G-man is notably tight-lipped with any specific objectives aside from "screw over the Combine", letting him know that we work for the same person may oblige him to reveal what he knows. Or compel him not to shoot us on sight.
>>
>>20753061
Spike ehy? Tough hurdle then.
And hey, doesnt mean a guy cant give it a shot right? If she ends up saying no, im no worse for wear, maybe a little hurt but one step and i can be past it.

She says Yes? Then we see where that leads us. Thanks for telling me though, now i know the stakes against me. So, back to the task at hand, the guide named Pilot, we're making some good money off of Nimble, so we need to talk to him about interpreting to Pilot where we need to go.

Gaaaah, a 13 on the secondary. OK...

Cheryl makes her way to the Farmstead, burning through two full magazines of ammunition for her Beretta fighting off large packs of increasingly mutated dogs. If that wasn't enough, during the fighting, she blunders into a handful of anomalies, suffering injuries that force her to expend a Medkit and pack of Vinca as well as a charge of Medigel, all in ADDITION to using Biomancy to speed up the healing.

Just as she staggers to the Farmstead, her radio squeals to life, someone urgently shouting something in Russian. Sirens begin to blare across the Zone as the ever-present fog begins to roil and darken, thunder booming in the sky.

As Cheryl desperately starts looking around for someplace to take cover, the fog rolls back from a portion of the sky, exposing something that almost looks like a reversed tornado. As she runs for the cave, the thing, a cyclone leading back into the fog-hidden depths of the sky, crackles with electricity as it belches out a huge cylinder of the same black metal you saw earlier. The cylinder smashes into the Farmstead, obliterating the last of the structure and setting off several anomalies as it falls apart, its cargo shifting and rising from the debris of the impact. A huge, three legged monster somewhere between mechanical and insectoid... It lets out a strange, deep cry as it stands, towering over the landscape.

The sirens continue to blare.

Cheryl keeps dashing for the Controller Cave as the Strider turns, locating her amidst the chaos. Turning for a moment as she runs, Cheryl focuses her mind and lets a bolt of psionic power loose as the Strider opens up with its pulse gun.

The sky begins to darken as rivulets of pure darkness begin to run across the ground in a vein-like pattern. The sirens seem to blare louder and louder...

The telekinesis blast only manages to make the Strider wobble for a moment as Cheryl's shields are swiftly depleted by a sustained burst of pulse-gun fire. Diving into the cave, she barely misses being at ground zero of a warp cannon burst as the Strider pursues, firing its main gun at the entrance. Space-time bends and warps as the cave-mouth collapses behind Cheryl, pain shooting through her as she is battered by debris. Several of the crates left behind in the cave from earlier spill open, one shattering a mirror and littering the ground with large shards of the silvery glass.

As Cheryl slowly stands, the both of you notice the rivulets of darkness and crimson spreading throughout the cave. The reflection of Cheryl in the mirror shards are gore-drenched and blood-soaked.

The veins of darkness and crimson continue to grow on the cave walls as the Strider emits a low howl from outside.
>>
>>20754292
Have you gotten to the odd device from before?
We need to stuff it into the combat pack, and then get as deep into the cave as we can to wait out the blowout.

The bio-organic machine emits a strange, hissing whistle as it rights itself. You can barely sees its shadow for the fog, but it looks different. As it looms out of the mist towards you, you immediately see the terrible change it has undergone. Cheryl can't help but let out a scream of pain, a tremor of fear running through her as the creature clanks towards her, swaying on its rusted legs.

>Pyrokinesis bonus activates.

The Silent Strider erupts into flame, a chorus of howls from a dozen misshapen mouths screaming its pain. Unfortunately the moment of concentration needed to focus her power through the emission prevents Cheryl from reacting in time as the mouth spews another bloody glob at her, splattering all over her armor yet again. The acid hisses and odd cracking sounds assault your ears as the structural integrity of the armor shows the first signs of impending failure in some areas.

If it breaches the structural integrity of the hard-suit, we're fucked. The medi-gel layer will likely neutralize the acid and protect Cheryl, but the armor itself will be compromised.

Cheryl dumps her canteen over the acid and uses her telekinesis in a bid to wash the acid off before it can damage the suit to the point of uselessness. She runs in a zig zag pattern as she does do, desperately attempting to put distance between her and the Silent Strider.

One of the creature's faces on its main body twists and elongates, its mouth puckering as a gun barrel emerging from it, firing ten-round bursts at the fleeing form of Cheryl.

The zig-zagging is not enough, and though she manages to get the acid off, several bursts of gunfire bite through the damaged armor and into Cheryl. She collapses onto the ground, groaning in pain as she tries to pull herself away.

"Dad..." she mumbles, her hands slick with blood as she rakes the ground with her hands. You feel her consciousness begin to get hazy. "Dad..."

When we wake up, we might be in a good situation or a bad one.

At least the kinetic barriers and medi-gel layer of the hard-suit, as well as the strength enhancement, will still be operational.
Though with the suit's structural integrity compromised, we'll either need to break down a lot of ceramics and metals into omni-gel, or put on another layer of armor.

What's also really killing you is that I keep rolling mini-bosses for you to fight instead of 'normal' enemies.

When you snap back to consciousness, you are immediately aware of two things. Cheryl's wounds have been dressed, and her armor is gone. Shortly after that, you also realize you hear someone humming nearby.

Cheryl shifts her head a little to get a look at your surroundings. She's immediately punished with a pounding headache, but manages to see the source of the sound. A somewhat muscular man in a deep blue shirt with his back to you, is cleaning an assault rifle. The two of you appear to be in a barricaded room, probably in one of the abandoned buildings in the area given the cracks in the concrete you see everywhere. Cheryl is laying on a cot, the man sitting at a bench. Several boxes and crates have been haphazardly stacked around the room.

>>20756240
If it's the Shin-Ra from FF7, then this could be even worse than originally thought.
The Combine always had problems with their dimensional teleportation; it uses lots of power, requiring a Dark Fusion Reactor. They might be trying to come here because this is a stable Crossover Canon that has a lower energy threshold requirement for this dimensional teleporters to tunnel in.

>>20756287
I don't know if it's going to be worth it to go back there. It's unlikely that the systems needed for the kinetic barriers to work have survived.
>>
Sorry guys, gotta call it here. Next thread Tuesday.

Sheesh, we actually managed to fill up a whole thread in one go. That takes me back.

See you then!
>>
>>20756298

Barrier generation and Eezo storage are in the back, it likely survived. We might lose a couple emitters and some overall field strength, but the suit is also a WICKEDLY advanced suit of armor, better than anything in this canon, and it's powered.

We need to give it a shot.
>>
So, I was thinking.

G-Man didn't tell us shit, this world is WAY more dangerous than the gear we were given would allow, and we've lost our hardsuit, which could be considered mission critical considering Cheryl's lack of real combat training. I vote we send out a psychic ping for G-Man for a meeting, to see if he can throw us a proverbial bone.
>>
>>20756741
There's a couple problems with that.
This entire Zone is psychically active. A psychic call that strong would lead to another connection with the C-Con. The last time we tried telepathic communication, we ended up bringing Silent Hill here and making the situation worse.
It's too dangerous here. If we fail another roll, we might end up making a connection with a Combine Advisor, triggering a full-on planetary invasion.
>>
>>20756779

The combine already know about the world, but they probably consider it like a deep bore mine than a quarry, to be carefully dug for useful material (Like artifacts), rather than simply completely ripped up for some small thing.

As it is, we NEED to do something about our gear, regular Stalker suits won't cut it where we need to go, and Cheryl can't use the ordnance needed for striders or gunships, and psychic abilities take too long, as was shown. I'm not saying we should do this lightly, but we need the hardsuit running at full capacity, the helmet, and, if G-Man isn't a total dick, an ME assault rifle, since those things hit like an autocannon in terms of kinetic energy.
>>
>>20756805
Yes, the Combine already knows about this world. But if they detect a psychic as powerful as Cheryl, when one of their greatest glaring weaknesses is that they use Synths and bio-CPU's in all of their military technology and are therefore vulnerable to telepaths, I think they will increase the threat index of this world and will go for a brute force method to secure Cheryl as an experimental specimen.
>>
>>20756741

Can we even do that?

I've been thinking on this world and the picture its painting is not pretty, at all.

Typical turn of the 21st century earth-verse. Except oil companies are now Mako companies and the pharmaceuticals includes Umbrella in its ranks. Umbrella being active means that it is probably the largest player in the industry else they would not be able to finance the type of the shit they do. Shin-Ra Electric Power Company ethics and business practice means that it likely has a monopoly on the world Mako power supply.

Put in lobbyist and money politics and that means that they can easily influence the US government.

We also know that the Zone is a direct creation of the Chernobyl power station explosion. There is a terrible possibility that Shin-Ra might have cause the Chernobyl disaster since it was a competing power source.

This also means that AVALANCHE is basically the Taliban here and i'm not sure how to feel about that.

(I am thinking way too much into how this world might work)

Guys.

This is not FF7 Shinra.

This is Namco x Capcom Shin-Ra.

I'm not sure. We'd have to see if Cheryl feels up to it and can "tune" her telepathy to work more like a tight-beam burst transmission? G-Man will be keeping an eye on us, so we don't need to blast out active pings for long.

As in the organization from that game where Reiji and Xiaomu come from (those two show up in SRW Endless Frontier, so.....). The same organization investigates disturbances in space and time called "fluxes".

We can reveal shit to him now.

Except that Bruce isn't part of Shin-Ra. We'll need to wait for Ling before making a plan.
>>
Guy is in Namco x Capcom. We ran into him the other day.

This Bruce knows about Shin-Ra which is from Namco x Capcom.

"How do you know of the Combine? And how did you know they were even called the Combine?"
>>
By the way,
