It's that time again...

Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20827133/

Where we left off we resurrected our fallen leader, Abolaxul from the very pits of hell itself, he has returned as our first death lord. The drow should now seek those who turned traitorous and punish them, and also return Elomir the marked one.

I think that we oughta improve our armaments before we head out though, so B is my first vote.
If we pursue them with better tools then we're more likely to come out on top in the case of an ambush or an encounter with monsters.

>Lunzes
But I agree, since we haven't figured out ranged weaponry yet, that would be very good to have. We'd have the leg up on this cult, we'd have the leg up on predators and in hunting. Let's improve armaments.
>>
[B]
Using the wood from the black trees the drow craft strong wooden bows, although they lack the proper string to launch the arrows, eventually they settle on using sinew from their prey. The black wood is exceptionally strong and flexible, it makes for good bow material. The bows aren't the best they could be, but they're functional for now.

[E]
Ten scouting parties consisting of one drow and one krelk are sent out into the wilds to find the traitors. When they report back two of the parties hold valuable information, aparently they have settled on a large rocky hill, they have built a fortified temple of sorts, made from wood. The scout reports that they could feel an ominous green essence eminating from it.

Abolaxul has been armored and equipped as best as possible, but he would be so much more affective if he had more than bone weapons to use. Abolaxul has also become quite jumpy, he speaks of voices telling him of prophecies, prophecies including an undead tide that sweeps over the overworld, and himself being at the vanguard.
_________

Sounds like they're hunkered down pretty good... and our bows and bone tools are alright but I get this feeling that we should have stone/wood weapons made for now, and begin mining for iron ore and figure that shit out.
We're in caveman stage here.
We need to figure out iron metallurgy.
They are a cult, and don't have the resources or interest to create iron or even stone weapons. We need to take advantage of that. Let's continue to improve our weapons.
>>
D1 - we tell Abolaxul that this prophecy will be made true and we begin a religion dedicated to the fruition of this.
E2 - we need to leave them alone for now. our fighting power needs to be improved so that we can minimize possible losses from an attack.
B - let's tech the fuck up then, Abolaxul WOULD be better with weapons stronger than bone.

B1. Things did not go that well last time we disregarded prophecies.

F2. We have bows, we have torches, their fortress is made of wood.
This sounds like a winning combination to me.
Send 3/4 of army led by Abolaxul to take care of the traitors. Rain fire upon them as they sleep and kill them all. Assume that Elomir's mind has been poisoned and treat him as an enemy as well

D.
>>

I second this.
>>
>>20841637
I second this, also, we need to train evokers to deal with their superior necromancy
>>
>>20841721

What if we kill him and then whatever god marked him gets their panties in a bunch about it and starts hurling shambling horrors, crypt fiends, and ghouls at us?
Also can we worship Kyuss? We need to unite and I think Lolth is neat and all but with Abolaxul in charge there is definitely an undead focus going on.
>>
>>20841721

We don't actually have torches, we have glowing acid in leather bags. That being said, there are materials around we can use - the slugs that eat the trees have acid that is able to take out that wood easily. If we could hunt some of them down and harvest their acid, we could hide it in the undead Krelk's chests in leather bags then send them at the temple and detonate them at long range with arrows by popping the bags.

As for the rest, B1 and D - we need metal for weapons.
>>
We don't have fire, we have krelk torches, which is basically sacks of their glowy acid attached to sticks.

Also if you want to get metallurgy that'd be D. B is used to put known technologies to use as weapons. So D for metallurgy and then B for forging it into weapons.

The drow start coating their arrows with krelk acid, it doesn't eat through the bone too fast, and when enemies are hit with the arrows the acid causes severe pain.

[E2]
The drow decide to ignore the traitor's pressence for now, perhaps this would be for the best considering how primitive the drow's weapons are.

[B1]
The triumvirate of shadow's accepts that Abolaxul's words might be true, but they should not be taken to heart, as there are more pressing matters. Abolaxul still seems unsure, but he is glad that he was not ridiculed.

One of the drow reveals a project he's been working on for months, apparently it's some sort of flying contraption. It resembles a hang glider, the frame being made of black wood, and the rest made of krelk hide. He tests it by jumping off of a tall hill. It's proven to actually be quite sturdy, though it's pretty useless, the drow have fun using it for recreation.

The drow find a new strange creature living in the black forest, they resemble woodpeckers, they are much smaller and completely black save for a few red dots on their head. The creatures seem to pierce the black trees and suck out what seems to be dark sap. They are utterly docile, and the drow have no use hunting them for they are too small to be worth while eating. They name these creatures Wuks.
>>
The mine has grown quite deep, the miners report finding strange minerals in the rock. So far they have found a soft orange mineral and a dull shiny one, they also have found some black chalky rocks.

The drow find that two of these minerals are metal, and the third some kind of rock. They experiment with the minerals, they find that the metals are harder than the chalky black rocks. They submerge them in acid but nothing happens, they are just eroded a little. Without fire they fail to melt the minerals, infact they have never seen fire in their lives, so it's hard to believe they'll ever find a way to create it down here in the underworld.

Abolaxul reports that he senses strange energies coming from the general direction of the traitors, he tells the triumvirate that it would be best to attack now, lest they become stronger than they are now.

I vote D again, hopefully we find fire. If the lizardmen could, so can we.
And we really have to attack now. So A1.
Let's use hang-gliders to shoot arrows down upon them, and use illusion to make the gliders are appear as though they are Lunzes.
While the cult is preoccupied with that terror, we send in small skeletal beasts with sacs of acid in packed inside and then burst the sacks with arrows to weaken defenses and do splash damage. Then skeletal krelk and our infantry sweep in from three directions to stomp out the survivors and recover the boy if he was lucky enough to survive.

But I amend this, and we should only make that attack AFTER sending in a diplomat. If the diplomat is hurt or denied he sends an illusion signal in the air and we strike immediately. If he is not hurt or denied, then our troops hold and return. So basically have our troops prepared to make this strike, and await a diplomats signal to attack if necessary.
>>
Might I suggest something you guys haven't figured out? The little Klerk seem to be...roughly as smart of Gnolls. Why not have them try to be taught magic? Maybe have some extra casters with this? The Drows won't have to learn anything else or lose guys with summoning demons.

Down here in the underworld there is no light other than glowing moss and fungus, the underground ecosystem is cold, so cold that most fires that are brought down by outside forces are extinguished quickly. All species down here have adapted to lack of fire, thus most of the time it's rejected by the environment. So far everything they have encountered has lacked fire. As they tried to find some way to melt the ore they extracted some acid from some of the tree eating slugs. The acid works a little better than the krelk acid, causing the ore to melt slightly, but not significantly enough to be used affectively. By chance they also discover that the slugs' (now called Sligs,) acid can be used as a medicine to disinfect wounds.

The army assembles, lead by Abolaxul himself they march to the open field just infront of the traitor's rocky hill, their own army has assembled. Elomir seems to have taken to the field aswell, leading the traitor army. They don't seem to be in the mood for diplomacy...

Our army consists of.

1 Death Lord [Abolaxul]
10 Drow Necromancers
10 Drow Evokers
5 Drow Dark Illusionists
20 Drow Swordsmen/Spearmen
20 Drow Archers
72 War Krelk
35 Undead Drow Swordsmen/Spearmen
47 Skeletal Krelk
65 Small Skeletal Beasts

Their army consists of.

1 Master Necromancer [Elomir]
55 Drow Necromancers
100 Small Skeletal Beasts
40 Medium Skeletal Beasts
15 Large Skeletal Beasts

The enemy army consists mainly of necromancers, their small skeletal beasts consists of small creatures like vermin, reptiles, and birds, though weak they are quite ferocious and might pose a threat if our units are overwhelmed. Their medium skeletal beasts are things like Krelk and the gray wolves that harassed us long ago, they can go toe-to-toe with most of our warriors and summons. Their large skeletal beasts are things that we don't even know about, they are huge, each being around 7 - 9 feet, they are unearthly monsters one could only find in the underworld, they are truly terrifying and will be tough to take down.

Enter general mode?

You all are scum on my shoe, and I will clean you off and throw you on the ground!" Elomir then proceeds to turn the poor drow inside out with his necromantic powers. The diplomat's skeleton cutting itself free of it's fleshy shackles. The skeleton picks up a spear and stands beside Elomir.

I say we keep our spear and swordmen together, supported by magic users and Abolaxul at the bottom, while the skeletal beasts and war krelk flank from the left side with the disguised archers prepared to cover their charge.
Also, illusion hang glider lunzes from the north.

sounds reasonable however I'd like to put in that we use the hang gliders to throw acid bombs on top of the necromancers.

That too, shooting arrows from hang gliders doesn't sound like it'd work well.
>>
>>20843521
I agree with this idea with the exception, I would have the archers behind the spear and swordsmen, with the express purpose of targeting their magi. The gliders should stay high above the action, again targeting their magi when the opportunity arises. We should play a defensive battle. We technically outnumber the renegades and have a better grasp on a variety of magics (though they seem to have a superiority on necromantic magic).
>>
>>20843452
I've just noticed they have no archers, we should keep them at range as long as possible.
>>
>>20843628
>>20843674

Agreed agreed.
The lunze-gliders will scare them and drop acid to harm them
our archers should be disguised as rocks if only to make the necromancers unable to target them and unable to discern where our arrows come from - allowing us to draw out the ranged battle.
>>
>>20843452
Allright, defensive line of our melee fighters and Abolaxul, including our war krelk but not including ANY undead. Keep all undead as reserve far to the back. Have the archers evokers, and necromancers behind the frontline. Archers will aim for and fuck up Elomir, whilst evokers will summon imps and other small beasties to interrupt enemy spellcasters. Our necromancers will raise any fallen units before the enemies get a hold of them. Our hang gliders will drop acid bombs on the necromancers to further sow chaos. And our illusionists? They will cover Abolaxul in illusions of fogliske shadows, and the imagery of the god Xalothas to make it appear as if HE was the chosen of the Lord of the Void. When Elomir is taken out, rush in with reserve undead.
>>
>>20843766
>>20843733
Both of these make sense when taken together, though the undead should be off to the flanks to support rather than behind.

The undead units are kept near the back of the mass of the army, archers are placed along the outskirts of the battlefield, they focus fire on Elomir. Gliders start to fly in and drop sacks full of acid, however they will not be in the battle for long, as they can only carry one or two bombs. Using illusions they are disguised as the Lunzes. The Evokers are unable to summon imps or such beastly creatures, as of yet they can only summon medium sizes souls, this includes humanoid souls, so they will be summoning the souls of dead warriors to terrorize the enemy. The dark illusionists cover Abolaxul in a dark haze, giving him the form and shape of what the traitors would believe to be Xalothas the god of the void.

The acid bombs work well against the skeletal hordes, and even some of the necromancers die. The illusions casted on the death lord aren't very affective, the necromancers seem to see through this illusion. Elomir is chanting in some unknown language, the ground around him is glowing green. The skeletal hordes clash with our forces...

The drow swordsmen/spearmen easily repel the skeletal hordes, however Abolaxul is suprisingly being overwhelmed by the smaller skeletal minions, the hordes weighing him down too much to move, he needs assistance. Several other hordes of skeletal minions are joining the fray, their sheer numbers are making it difficult for the Krelk to repel them. The drow archers can't seem to hit Elomir accurately in the chaos...

His placement is sound; the archers are disguised, the undead and gliders are in reserve, and the infantry is supporting itself wisely. Aside from that, he is just doing what we have asked him to do. If you have a problem with the battle plan, why not chime in while we're making it?
>>
>>20844435
Quick, get our necromancers to beef up Abolaxul! He is being sabotaged by the enemy!
>>
>>20844455
This, and get the archers to the back to move in closer, if there's openings in the temple, have one group sneak into it to take shots at Elomir.
>>
>>20844469
Also, have Abolaxul move back into our infantry.
>>
>>20844435
Lets get those two units of undead on the left move up and try to kill the medium and small horde as fast as possible. th unit of 18 warriors need to assist out leader and the unit of 35 should engage the unit of 25 necromancers. I feel like rangers will have issues hitting Elomir so they ought to shift their focus to the unattended necromancers and weaken their magic potential.
>>
>>20844435
Our warriors must support Abolaxul. While our undead in tandem with our magi move to support our war krelk. Additionally, our archers need to focus fire on their necromancers. We are in danger of being overwhelmed, but we have to will to pull through.
>>
Have the gliders get stones or something to drop on Drow Jesus. Scare the piss or brain him. Or use the acid we have left to focus on him.
>>
Why did we put archers in the back like that? Have them sneak up using illusions for cover while the enemy focuses to their front. Once the archers are close and more level, rather than the enemy having the high ground like they do with our infantry, shoot to kill the necromancers so that they can't raise up our dead or their own. Have the unit of infantry to abolaxul's left flank his attackers.
>>
>>20844435
Use the illusionists to create a distraction. Might startle the necromancers at least.
>>
Move some of our swordsmen and spear-men in to support Abolaxul. Have the glide bombers all focus on Elomir to disrupt him.

Have a contingent of war krelk flank to the left and attack the necromancers to the back, their speed should be able to outrun the skeletons protecting them.

Try to force out way down the front in a wedge led by Abolaxul after he is freed.

Have the archers focus on the necromancers, since they are grouped together we are bound to hit a good amount of them.

Our undead beasts charge in to aid the krelk as do our mages. The battle is at a stale mate for now. Archers reposition to get into better range, they manage to take out quite a few necromancers. The drow warriors aid Abolaxul, but they can't seem to punch through the thick masses, their weapons do nothing to the boney creatures. The undead drow punch a hole right through the enemy lines and start massacaring the necromancers, as they die the enemy undead start to waver, their unholy source of power being taken from them. The gliders take rocks and try to drop them on Elomir, but some sort of force field is pushing the rocks back...
>>
>>20844788
Direct more support to Abolaxul to free him, he may be the only way to kill that damned Elomir. Continue on fighting like we are.

Keep on focusing on the Necromancers! The sooner they are dead the more we can focus on Elomir.

>>20844788
Excellent redeployment. Things are progressing well, keep focusing on the necromancers and stalling their undead. Warriors of the Shade Legion, push forward and rescue Abolaxul, I know the numbers seem daunting but we have the determination to see this through!

Take focus off of Drow Jesus, we obviously can't do anything to him. Have more reinforcements move to aid Abolaxul while the hang gliders and archers help get rid of everything except Elomir.

Each side takes heavy casualties, however the dark bonds that hold the enemy undead together had weakened with each dead necromancer until finally nearly all of the skeletal hordes were too weak to fight, they were slaughtered. Our forces regrouped and surrounded the large skeletal undead and Elomir himself. Finally Elomir would stop chanting, the green energy surrounding him exploding into a flurry of blinding light. Once the light faded, infront of Elomir was a giant bone golem, as if it had been summoned from hell itself. The bone golem put Elomir on his back, Elomir laughing manically.

The bone golem would shout, "I AM THE AVATAR OF UXUKAHN, FLEE IN DESPAIR AND WATCH YOUR DEMISE UNFOLD!!"

Ok so we have the gliders drop rocks on the necromancers to try and break their focus or brain them. Move in our archers more and have them position themselves BEHIND the enemy rather than on the flanks - that way they aren't shooting uphill, AND they're forcing our foes to fight on two fronts, AND they have much cleaner shots. See if we can get Abolaxul to fall back at all and move more war krelk into the fray with the small creatures to ease the tension on Abolaxul.

Have a glider crash into it with acid bombs? Kamikaze style? It'd take out a chunk of the best for sure. Have the archers surround it and fire at Elomir - focus all shots at Elomir.
Have the regular troops try and overwhelm it I guess...
>>
>>20844985

Either make our own golem or have our mages study the magic used. Have archers aim for critical points in the golem to weaken its combat abilities, while we protect our living behind an army of bone. Also ghost soldiers please. And tree necromancy.

The large skeletal beasts haven't weakened, the only reason this could happen is because Elomir summoned all 15 of them himself...Which is impossibly ridiculous, seeing as how it's take at least two of our necromancers to control such a huge creature, this hints that Elomir's power must be vast. Uxukahn is probably the God of bone, otherwise it's avatar wouldn't be so...Boney.

Our necromancers attempt to disrupt Elomir's commands, but he is too strong. Evokers summon up the souls of the dead and the ghost warriors swarm the large skeletal beasts. Dark illusionists aid in confusing the enemy by showing strange disorienting illusions. Archers are pulled back and try to fire on Elomir, a few arrows cut the boy but nothing more. Living warriors pull back to avoid further casualties. All of our undead swarm the enemy, the krelk spitting acid at the avatar's legs, which works well in weaking him. The large bone beasts kill many of our skeletal beasts, but in the end our undead overwhelm them. Finally all that is left is Elomir and the avatar of Uxukahn.

The bone golem smashed through our undead, it's up in the air who will win, both sides are weakening dramatically. However for some reason Elomir doesn't look the least bit worried. Suddenly...

"Abolaxul!" Elomir shouts, "Face my minion one on one, if you win I shall forfeit my mark and leave myself to your mercy! If I win however...Your entire tribe shall become mine!"

Our current forces...
10 Necromancers
10 Dark Illusionists

20 Drow Archers
5 Drow Swordsmen/Spearmen
20 Krelk
20 Small Skeletal Beasts
10 Undead Krelk

However as the battle progressed it became apparent that the avatar of Uxukahn was more durable than he seemed, the creature seemed to regenerate it's bone mass after each wound it recieved. The battle progressed long after it should'e ended, the stubborn Abolaxul refusing to lose to this smug brat. That was, until the avatar of Uxukahn drove his fist right through Abolaxul's chest...

Abolaxul roared with such fury that could only be expected from a death lord. He grabbed at the avatar's arm, crushing it's boney mass with his superior strength.

"Elllllll..."
"Ohhhh..."
"MIIIIIIIIIRRR!!!"

The death lord shouted in rage, realizing he had been beaten. "Don't fret Abolaxul, you died to an avatar of a God. What did you expect?" Abolaxul just looked back at him, a red tint to his fiery blue eyes. And in his rage he devised a final act of wrath on Elomir. A black portal appeared to his side, Abolaxul reached in the portal with his hand and slowly pulled out a red runic greatsword. With that sword he poured in his hatred, his wrath, his fury, and his soul. Just as the last few pieces of his soul was poured into the blade he raised it, Elomir finally realizing what was happening...

"Elomir, you took away my second chance at life, just as your follower took my first chance away. I will sacrafice my soul to take yours. Know this, Elomir, on this day you lost your soul to Abolaxul the death lord. From this day forth you shall never know pleasure, never will you sense warmth, nor will you taste happiness. You are doomed to a life of undeath, just as I was." With that his old husk that was his former body swung the great sword into Elomir's body, cleaving his soul in half, destroying it forever. Then the sword exploded into a flurry of fire, setting most of everything within a mile ablaze. With the sword destroyed both the spirit of Abolaxul and Elomir was destroyed. Abolaxul's former body crumbled to dust and was swept away in the slight breeze. Elomir's souless body was all that was left, he was still alive, but after a few seconds his flesh would fall from his skin...All that would be left was his skeleton, but he did not die, no, he was kept alive by unholy energies, kept alive by the powers of Xalothas. The avatar of Uxukahn disappeared into a vortex of black decay, his job finally being finished...

>>
>>20846468
Actually once Elomir returned to Crypt I was going to give you guys the choice between the drow accepting Elomir as their leader or rising against him and having the triumvirate as their leaders, but everybody is getting super butt frustrated, so meh. Kinda' figured the triumvirate was more of 'the guys behind the scenes' than the leader, Abolaxul was sort of the figure head as the leader. Though I suppose it's all up to interpetation from the reader.
>>
>>20846379
I agree. We all feel invested in this, and so its understandable that you would feel strong emotion when things do not go your way. However, blaming angrydorf for providing this entertaining and enjoyable game is not the answer. He has done what we asked of him, and still attempted to bring this all together. That said.

Elomir has done what we asked in the first place. He has proven himself the stronger more capable leader. If time shows him unworthy, so be it, but until then we have a stronger leader than ever before.
All hail the Shade Legion.
>>
>>20846539

So Ant-men tree necromancer time, or continuing?
>>
>>20846536
Wow, are you stupid? Elomir being kidnapped *was* a scripted event, but that was just to give you guys a clear enemy. I didn't ignore the plan of attack, I had the players vote if they wanted to enter general mode, from what I counted most of the people wanted to, (albeit it was actually quite stupid because I hadn't planned on how to organize battles with multiple unit types, in the future it'll all just be text, simpler that way.) Again, it was true that if you guys didn't attack they would've gained more undead to use against us, I was actually helping. I do admit I hadn't actually read 'the battle plan' until I made that update, I tried to make ammends by letting you guys deploy 'super secret archers disguised as rocks.' Yeah, I made mistakes, but i'm no where nearly as bad as you claim I am. You're just butt frustrated. Calm down.

I just wanted to play goblins. I don't mind how it turned out. You know how some people feel on the matter and hopefully we can all learn and improve ourselves from the experience...

I'm still kind of pissed at how you baited us into accepting the duel by telling us not to underestimate him when the consensus was in favor of not accepting it, only for the Avatar to turn out to be unbeatable HAHAHA GOT YOU GOOD PLAYERS!. Also pissed about you ignoring our ambush plan totally, but not to buttdevestated levels.

This is negated, however, by you trying to pass off a one year old Drow Chosen One, who looks and acts like a 15-16 year old because he developed quickly, with a super special magic birthmark, who is the best Necromancer ever, and was just cursed to lichdom by his enemy in single combat and doomed to rule the Drow as the Undead Chosen 16-but-really-one Drow Necromancer Emperor for eternity as a completely serious thing.

I'm 99.9% certain that you took the single most ridiculous mary-sue you could think of and layered him in the story so that we wouldn't notice it until it was too late, and it is fucking hilarious.

You'll get your tree necromancy, but not in the form of necromancy...

Also as a side note, I really fucking wanted Abolaxul to win, because...Well since he's dead I guess it doesn't matter. Later on he was going to try to turn all the drow into undead/liches and create a scourge that would destroy all the surface dwellers. Or that was what he was going to *try* to do.

But I figured it WOULD be railroading if I just said "LOL ABOLAXUL RAEPS ELOMIR. END OF STORY" So I let tg dice handle it...

As a side note on the side note, if you don't like what i'm doing, go away, even if all my players started hating me and left, I wouldn't change for them, this is my game and I play by my rules. That's not to say that I don't try to make it comfortable for my dearest voters, infact if anyone read my previous threads they'd find that I actually go out of my way to accomodate to voters, because in the end this is a collaborative story-driven game, without the input from the players i'm just writing a book. Whatever though, i'm glad some of the cooler voters still want to play, on to the next update!
>>
Dude, I couldn't be happier with the story. Necromancy for the win. Love that we have this instead of paladins wiggling their dicks around to please their dumbass god of light or some shit.

>>
>>20846867
You didn't read my response did you.
I'm kind of tired of replying to you, but my foolish pride is making me write one out...

Alright, as far as I counted the consensus was to duel, I didn't bait anyone, I merely stated the truth. He did come back from hell, he just got hung up a little because he couldn't exactly hurt the small skeleton beasts because they're so god damn small. I didn't want that to make people believe he was weak. The dice were just not in his favor. The avatar was not unbeatable at all, it was simply luck, I just wrote out each part of the battle according to the dice. As I already mentioned I didn't catch the ambush plan before it was too late, I tried to make up for it. Elomir developed quickly as a plot device (lol obviously.) He does this because he is the chosen one of Xalathos (hence the marked one.) And by this time he's probably around mid twenties in appearance, he probably acts like it aswell, being chosen by a god tends to have a lot of perks. He is a good necromancer because he was CHOSEN BY A GOD DAMN GOD, how else did you want me to write it? He was cursed by lichdom because I actually liked Abolaxul and wanted to reflect some of him onto Elomir, hence him becoming undead.
>>
>>20847108
I also never stated he was the best necromancer *ever*. And if you DID actually read my reply you'd catch that I WAS going to give you guys a final choice on the leader of the shade legion, never even said he was going to be emperor for eternity. Well buddy, you'd better believe in magic, because that 0.01% just came true! Perhaps he is pretty 2-dimensional, but give me a break, I had about thirty minutes to think of him. Remember everything is pretty much made up as I go along, but he isn't that bad. Do you just assume that anyone who is powerful is bland and uninteresting?

Seriously, your ignorance astounds even me. And i'm pretty fucking ignorant.

Kindly fuck off, I hate your attitude.
(I just died a little inside after realizing i'm actually replying to you..)
>>
>>20847108
i think you should move on op.
honestly though, i personally wanted Abolaxul, Elomir, and the undead beast to combine into a sort of bone mass thing and lead us.
But that's just me
>>
>>20847145
lol I had an inkling of the same idea form in my head. I thought that Abolaxul was going to win but Elomir being a little prick would go back on his side of the deal and try to invade Abolaxul's mind in a last ditch effort to save himself.

SO Elomir launches his entire soul into the Death Lord construct and duels Abolaxul's soul. Surprisingly neither can win and they are at a stalemate. So now we have a Death Lord leader who has multiple souls who fight each other and hates itself.

>>20847108
>>20847108
also lets continue Angrdorf and forget that fool.
>>
Elomir would now be named the death king, for he is similar to a death lord in physiology, but not completely. Because he lacks a soul his very essence is gone, all that holds him together, what keeps him sentient, is the dark energies given to him by the mark and by Xalathos. His personality still exists, though he will now hunger eternally for the souls of his enemies. He is not a lich, for his soul no longer exists, once he is destroyed or his dark energies sapped from him he will simply fade to the void, which is fitting since he worships the god of the void. Many were killed by the fiery explosion, but in the end there still remained a reasonable amount of survivors. The undead and drow alike followed Elomir back home, where he was confronted by the triumvirate and the drow kin alike.

"What monstrosity has stepped foot in our great city?!" Ezerath shouted.
"Monstrosity? Bow, mortal, I am your KING."
"KING?! What has happened to Abolaxul?!"
"Dead, slayn by my hand, bow, mortal, for I am your new king. Both yours and the king of the undead."
"And WHO exactly are YOU?"
"I am Elomir the marked one. And you are in my way."
"Elomir...What happened to you? How did this all...No matter, the triumvirate of shadows are the shepeards of the drow, and we will not bow to anyone other than our people. You will wait outside the city until we come to a consensus."
"Hmm...Xalothas is telling me to abide by your law. Very well then. But let it be known that I will not tolerate insubordination." Elomir leaves the city and waits a few meters outside the city walls, staring it down.

The triumvirate counter offers Elomir, stating that they will accept him as their leader on the condition that the triumvirate remains in a seat of power. Elomir and the triumvirate will share leadership, that way they can keep Elomir in check. He begrudgingly agrees, though he seems less than accepting of the idea. A new age begins with a much more stable government, and for the first time in many months the Shade Legion will experience peace...

One of the drow had learned about fire from the great dual, he took a wooden stick and set it ablaze in the fire and brought it back to the city. Soon everyone knew how to create fire and torches were lit everywhere in the city. They found that fire was well suited for melting ore, but they required some sort of fuel for the fire, and more particulary a place where they could put it and focus it's heat.

Mages can't learn much from Elomir, as most of his magical power is granted directly from divinity. When mages are close to him they can perform stronger spells. Elomir himself can summon some amazing undead creatures if he so chooses, however generally he would only do this right before a battle, as it takes considerable amounts of concentration to keep the powerful undead animate.

Deep within the woods the drow find a grove of berry bushes protected by strange animate vines that pull in any unsuspecting scavengers, one of the drow managed to get some of the berries without being killed, he claims that the blackish berries taste wonderful and would be a very good food source if they could just get rid of the vines.

The forge works well and soon the drow are shaping copper into various utensils. The dull metal seems to be more resistant to heat however, the forge need to be hotter...

A platoon of 15 undead warriors are sent to deal with the vines, it was wise to send undead, as the vines mainly kill by strangling and beating their prey to death. The undead are completely unaffected, the grove is quite large, but after chopping through the vines for days on end they exterminate the vines. The berries are yours for the taking!! Drow are now gathering berries regulary and adding them to their daily meals. Drow food often now consists of various animal meats cooked in black berry juice to give it a sweet flavor. Some drow suggest that the berries be planted and farmed in a more open area, but that'll be quite laborous and will take the effort of the entire tribe. Some of the drow also wish that they had some sort of container they could carry things in, but as of yet they can't seem to understand how, the black wood is quite strong and hard to craft into intricate items.

As far as we know they were all cut down and rooted out. They're about as thick as your middle finger. Possibly.
>>
>>20847974
D. Improve technology to take advantage of things like the wood and metal better, possibly also for fermenting the berries.

(Would it be possible somehow to build a special kind of drudge skeleton designed specifically to farm and cultivate the berries?)

You okay OP?

Strangely enough, a discovery is made on the black wood. If exposed to slight heat over a long period of time the wood becomes much more flexible, using this method they begin to create many different containers with the black wood.

Some of the drow specialize in picking berries, one of the more creative individuals notices that when the berries begin to decompose they secrete a strange liquid that when consumed causes strange non-lethal affects on the user, some of the drow even start to harvest this liquid and purify it into a strange drink they call 'Win'.

[E]
The drow try to surch for viable materials to make baskets and clothes out of. Eventually they discover some rather large red spiders that, instead of silk, secrete a much stronger tan substance that is very soft to the touch. The strings are actually quite thick aswell, about as thick as floss. The drow capture some of these spiders (which are now called Slit Spiders) but they seem to feed off of glow moss...We'll have to find some way to move the glow moss closer to the village if the drow wish to farm the string efficiently. Right now we gained a decent supply of it, but the drow have no idea how to weave it into usable items. The drow have no idea what to call the string, and end up asking the shadow triumvirate what it should be called (best of first three suggestions.)

Some of the drow wish to make August 10th a tribal holiday, celebrating the discovery of delicious win.

The drow split their efforts to two different endeavours. The more magically in tune drow focus on learning the mystical ways of pyromancy, while the other half tries to learn about silt-spiders, and more particulary, try to learn how to weave their spirit-silt into usable items. The drow try to domesticate the silt-spiders, but they remain unconditionally hostile. On the bright side the drow learn how to use their spirit-silt to fashion usable items. They forge small copper needles and use these to weave the spirit-silt into cloth, they find that it is remarkably tough, even tougher than krelk hide (tough as bronze.) Soon ropes, bags, and clothes are made from the spirit-silt. Finally the drow no longer are bound to the primitive hides of krelk, they now wear elegant clothing made from spirit-silt. Shoes are made from krelk hide, socks from spirit-silt, and sometimes hats are fashioned. The hats consist of krelk hide on the outside and soft spirit-silk on the inside. The clothing not only protects and comforts the drow, it makes them much more civilized. Because of the introduction of proper clothing, even things like table manners and proper speech is being introduced.

It wasn't easy trying to harness the power of flame, after so long of practicing dark magic it's all the drow ever knew. Never was there a time when the drow practiced such magicks like elemental magic. Thus it only made sense for the drow to have a tough time. Flame is a strange element, it's by far the most royal of the elements. Flame is determination, chaos, wrath, courage. It's also nobility, independence, and strong. It takes an extraordinary amount of willpower to harness the power of flame, so much so that those who take up pyromancy must forfeit all other magicks. Flame demands focus, concentration, and above all, patience. The first few pyromancers are born among the shade legion, though their bending skills only allow them to harness small whispers of flame, it marks the beginning of a new chapter in drow magic.

August 10th is named "Augusto Selethen" or, "Day of Happiness" It's a day when all of the shade legion abandon their grim ideals and celebrate and be merry, drinking and feasting to their hearts content before falling soundly asleep in their comfortable beds.

A watch tower is built just behind the wooden walls, a watchful drow keeps watch of the dark horizons at all times. In addition a communal center has been built, it's essentially a large circular house with rows of seats extending outwards in all directions. This is where drow may come to talk, eat together, and hold special events. A wooden gate has been built to completely secure Crypt from outsiders, now only aerial enemies can reach the populace within Crypt.

Now that the drow can mold copper they begin creating copper weapons and tools, using wood for handles. However they are crude without the use of molds, imperfection litters them and as a result makes them weaker. Spirit-silt is used for bow string and works perfectly, arrows are now shot much harder and much faster than before. Due to these improvements a group of talented bowmen start up a hunting guild, they hunt for anyone that requires extra food or resources, in exchange they gain other resources and commodities like win.

Skilled hunters has great merit indeed.
For this one, I am not sure what letter it would fall under.
I would like further research to be done into undead servants. Simple things to carry out simple tasks, no need for any real intelligence. This would eliminate the need for slaves and all the complication that comes with them, and would allow for further growth and expansion.
>>
>>20849499
Undead only follow orders in the first place, they have no real intelligence. If you want some undead that can farm for the drow then that'd fall under humanoids, so basically you'd be telling the undead drow to go plow the fields.
>>
File: 1348478368898.jpg-(175 KB, 768x1024, Zombie butler.jpg)
175 KB
>>20849524
That would be helpful, but in this case I was thinking specifically of personal servants. (kind of an undead butler thing perhaps)
>>
>>20849564
Well then you'd just order the undead drow to follow the commands of certain individuals, blam, undead butlers.
>>
>>20849524
On a similar note, what would working on placing the spirits of our honored dead into strong bodies, that we may honor them, and gain their wisdom for all time be?
>>
>>20849584
Fair enough, answers my questions about that. Then I think we just need to work on ramping up production of undead so we may use them for tasks as needed.
>>
>>20849587
Probably E.
>>20849607
That's kinda' tricky, the only way to get undead is to have access to dead bodies, either our own or dead bodies of other races. At least for humanoids.
>>
>>20849656
Ok, than I vote E. for the honored ancestors.
>>
>>20849656

[E]
Evokers begin summoning up the souls of the lost dead to fill the empty husks of our undead. They begin much more intelligent, they serve as undying servants and keepers of wisdom and knowledge, no longer are they simply mindless killers, they are the equals of the drow, just without any flesh. A team of evokers is sent to the traitor temple where they resurrect dozens of corpses.
