Probably Jim Profit was the closest thing to a singular cause, a tripfag so bad moot personally intervened to remove him.

moot apparently thought we were a pretty decent board and may've been inclined to send a few staff our way to "protect" us. They DID clean up the Flare spam and ELF SLAVE WAT DO, but they also seriously pruded the place the fuck up and randomly axed content that was accepted as /tg/-related for years (such as discussion of Elder Scrolls, now allowed again).

The mod is technically gone (according to moot, we drove him off), but mods still watch us and reply to reports, and we definitely have janitors sweeping through to clean up porn.

Back in the pre-mod days /tg/ tended to be more active, with a combination that was probably 70% actual content, 25% smut and smut-related, and 5% shitspam and trolling. We also had no quest threads.
