Good evening /tg/! It's time for your regularly scheduled Civilization Quest! Accept no substitutes. Same as always, you'll be guiding a copper-age tribe through the ages, to who knows what future?

Previous thread is here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20920548/

Your wise ones continue working on their great project, though they have not yet completed their labours. They're unsure how much longer they will need.

Not a lot of improvements can be made to the rafts, but the tribe works on their construction, making sure they won't break apart ensuring they can carry as much as possible.

Action Points: THREE

A) Send out scouts (specify direction)
B) Send some hunters out to hunt game and catch fish
C) Gather resources (not food)
D) Have your wise ones try to solve a problem
E) Hold a cultural event (specify)

Lets send out scouting parties in the unexplored areas never know what we might find, as for the other two action i'll let others pick suggestions.

> Learn 2 your own language

A small party leaves the village for the Lion Tribe. They don't take much in the way of goods, but there are a few of the wise ones among them, eager to learn. The Lion Tribe greets them near to the village and accepts them cordially. Though they are still recovering from the war, they look as though they have at least managed to stabilise a little, building better homes, modelled much like the ones in your village. The crow spirit shaman is the one to greet the party and accepts them into the village as guests.

What will the party enquire about during their stay?
A) Gods
B) Technology
C) Traditions

The shaman is eager to talk at great length about their gods. Their experiences seem very much similar to your own; they encountered the gods on their journeys. Their lion spirit, Roahaa, first met them in a similar manner to Hrunti, taking their cattle and hunting them, until he was subjugated by the great-grandfather of the current lion shaman. Their warlike and predatory nature pleased Roahaa and he taught them how to focus the force of the lion's mighty roar and how to put a little of his spirit into a warrior, to make him fierce and strong, as happened with their champion who fell to Trym.

Their crow spirit, Creygin, was different. Several things went missing from the village without a trace, getting larger and larger, until a whole tent was carried off, with everyone and everything still inside it. Awoken by the screams, they saw a huge shadow cross the moon and pursued it as fast as they could. Eventually, they came to a pinnacle of rock, which a half-dozen of them climbed to the very top. There they found Creygin, dressed in their clothes and wearing their shape, regarding them shrewdly. Once they gave him a name, he played a game of chance with them, hiding a stone in one of his hands. The tribe correctly guessed he had hidden it in his mouth and so defeated, the crow spirit taught them how to take what they could steal from those who did not need it, so that they and their children, who did, would be stronger for it.
>>
Give me some info about the copper age. I'll request some drawfag or another to make you something about it.

>Am also getting tired of the same topic pic

But you know, it helps us recognize your threads.
>>
>>20964384
He is less eager to speak of their technology, partly from suspicion, but partly from not fully understanding every nuance of it. They had encountered copper tools before, but wiped out the tribe that made them, taking what they could and using them until they broke. The copper here, they discovered how to work by accident, but are now just as adept at working it as you.

The only area they truly seem learned in, is how to care for their cows and bulls. They keep them safe and in return, get milk and beef. It also seems that the skins their warriors wear are much tougher and harder than the buckskins you are used to using, being made from cowhide.

~~~~~
Having stayed in the village several days and having learned much, the wise ones return home. During their stay, the lion tribe also asked many questions of the wise ones and learned much of your tribe.
They'll start to change as you move through the eras.
Your Wise Ones are pouring their hearts and souls into their great project, getting ever closer to whatever it is they are looking for...
The forest immediately around your village is thoroughly cleared as timber is gathered in preparation for some grand project.
Your scouts mount an expedition upriver on rafts, passing through miles and miles of forest, wild and un-touched, even un-seen by human eyes until now. Eventually, they reach the end of the trees, as they give way to more lightly wooded hills. Their exploration hits a stumbling block however, when they come to a small waterfall, forked and plunging into a small pool, an island pushing out from the steep hillside on the far side of the pool. To the scouts astonishment, Chani appears to rise from the deep plunge pool to meet them. "This place is special to me," she declares, "I've waited for your to find me here. On my river, you can move far swifter than over land. Remember that next time. Tell Rina that she is to build my shrine here. Some thing grand enough to be my home."
>>
>>20965150
>>
>>20965150
Sweet we got a lot of timber lets build Chani a shrine.
>>
Rolled 64
>>20965150
Our course of action is clear, screw a temple, we shall build a holy settlement based around a temple upon that island!
>>
>>20965150
The salmon run has arrived and the river is thick with fish!
The harvest season is upon you! The fields are full of crops!
EVENT
People from the River Brothers have come through the forest to beg for food. Their village is suffering badly and they fear to fish the river, in case it angers the tribe.
How will the tribe respond?
A) Give them half the harvest
B) Give them all the harvest, survive on stores
C) Tell them they can fish the river
D) Laugh and send them away
>>
>>20965150
Well, I think we know where our outpost is going to be. Ok so now we need to figure out the logistics of this.
We send them with a portion of the harvested crop, four of our cats and three of our canoes. THe carts will be loaded with a majority of the food while the canoes will have basic building supplies for temporary accommodations.
Once the canoes get there they will begin preliminary work on both the temple and the new outpost. Afterwards when the carts arrive they will construct the fortifications and what not. We should create an area for trading an a military outpost, barracks and what not. Rina should go with the expedition along with thirty adults. The ones going should be willing to take up permanent residence there.
>>
>>20965217
C and A
Tell them we are one tribe now, we live together and die together. They need not ask, we are all men of the river. The wedding has proven that, we are now one people, a nation.
>>
Rolled 67
>>20965217
C) They're River BROTHERS for a reason, through Trym's marriage, they are our kin, to deny our kin is to do them a great injustice.
>>
>>20965249
I don't want them dying, we have enough to survive the winter. I say we give them the crop plus sharing the fish. Also having us all fish side by side should help increase relations between the tribes.
>>
A) just A they can last and maybe teach them to plant a little bit for them self.
>>
>>20965217
I was initially say that it's a hard one, but >>20965244 and >>20965249 are right, we are supposed to be one united tribe in the end. I vote for A and give them 1/3 of the fish we take for the moment. We'll let them fish in the following years, when our relationship will get to be even closer. We have to become brothers, but going all-in from the start might make them believe that our generosity can be even greater that what's in the reality
>>
>>20965302
They have a larger population than us, they require more fish as well. I say they get 2/3
>>
>>20965324
I'll go for the middle ground, half of our fish. As I said, don't want them to think that we can give more than we actually can in the future and have them think we're tricking them.
>>
>>20965324
Yes we have stores but I still don't want our people starving half and allowing them to fish in the river would be enough
>>
>>20965244
>>20965249
seconding these
>>
>>20965374
What are we gonna do C and A or just C
>>
>>20965360
They're downstream, correct? If we let them fish, most of the salmon would be caught by them, leaving little for us. But come to think of it, they can't possibly catch half of the salmon in the river.
So basically I'm changing my vote to A) and C), no extra quota from fishing
>>
If we can figure out alchemy we can forget worrying about getting more copper and such.
I'm going to plant the seed in everyone's minds that we're letting inferior tribe members live in the same way as our superior members.
>>20966245
I don't think it would be a good idea in that form though. All Spartans were soldiers, and their gene pool selection had only that in mind. We're gonna have a more diverse society than Sparta. We should limit ourselves to forbidding procreation to those that have physical and mental abnormalities [poor eyesight, dwarfism, etc] but that's all we should do. At least until these disadvantages won't cost their lives, which is waaaaay into the future
>>
>>20966245
We don't need a large population to institute this.
Through seeing generations of children and the early signs of strength and intelligence, we can kill off any children that aren't quick or strong very early on and simply transfer the resources that would go to that child onto another child.
Keep them till age 5, and if they're not good, kill them and replace with another child.
If they're good, they're good.
We waste very little resources, allow females to have more children (higher morale stemming from more sex), and get a smarter, stronger people.
I disagree. Any burdens on our society must be weeded out.
And my method of nurturing the children to age 5 before the selection process will allow us to accurately measure the merit of each child in several areas.
>>
>>20966353
I don't think the people are going to take that well. our war god is not influential enough to convince them of this, at least not yet. Instituting this would take a very large shift in government from what we have now to a more powerful one with a proper head of state. However Trym would never go for this.
>>
>>20966368
This is one steep above the cannibalism thing lets stop talking about this. We are not killing our children.
>>
>>20966367
Because you said it, someone's going to mention them. Godwin's law does not apply because of this, now.
And it's hardly like the NSDAP, they didn't kill their own people because they --------
This line of argument is stupid and irrelevant.
>>
>>20966410
Hey, cannibalism isn't that bad. It's not like we kill our friends to eat them, just our enemies, and the gods, and anyone who dies of natural causes.
>>
>>20966402
War God? That's even better, our religion completely calls for it.
It makes complete and total sense.
>>
>>20966353
> Consider this: Your people are not robots. That's all I'm saying.
The harvest is good and the fishing plentiful, but between half the haul being sent downriver to the River Brothers, their fishing the salmon before they reach you and the stop on deer hunting, there is far less intake than in previous years.
Your wise ones are on the brink of a major breakthrough. Some members of the tribe have seen them drawing on the inside walls of the huts.
>>
>>20966425
If I can't have my cannibalism you can't have your eugenics.
>>
>>20966410
We will kill our children, now that the seed has been planted.
Why?
Because TheSeed always succeeds.
>>
>>20966368
It's funny that you put the limit at 5 years, since at that age I could barely talk in a coherent manner [basically I didn't give a shit to the proper order of words and completely skipped conjunctions, meaning that barely anyone could understand me] and now I live a completely normal life, I don't even stutter or have any sort of communication handicap. A copper-age society with your law would have thrown me to the wolves.
>>
>>20966439
Does anyone else get the feeling that our tribe sees the wise ones like a bunch of crazy old men who are just as likely as blowing up the tribe as improving it?
>>
>>20966453
...And?
So be it. A child who shows signs of retardation or idiocy cannot be allowed to live.
>>
>>20966438
Too bad that Groza likes battle and not mindless killing of the defenceless
>>
>>20966439
And as it's half past 2 in the morning, that'll do for now, I think. Hope you all enjoyed today! The next thread will be on Thursday, same bat-time, same bat-channel (so 4:30 EST and right here on /tg/).
>>
>>20966466
Can we start with you?
>>
>>20966439
The people will see the logic in our new system soon enough.
The extra sex will keep them happy enough that they won't care anyway.
The system is basically just extremely late-term abortion.
>>
>>20966475
Cheers, Brit, enjoy your tea and crumpets before going to bed!
>>
>>20966451
As long as I am playing on this thread I will not let this happen.
>>
>>20966472
>Mindless killing
It's to strengthen the tribe for future battles.
He'll be all for it.
>>
>>20966465
I vote for
Writing
Sending the expedition to build the shrine/outpost
Create what will be known as The Devouts of Groza, the men and women of the tribe who will apply themselves fully to the war god, spending their days training and growing more powerful in the art of war. They will be our sword and our shield, they will be our blade in the darkness.
We need a proper military, and training for our community to create a militia to rally around the trained soldiers.
>>
>>20966493
extra sex will not offset the morale loss from our people killing their own children.
you are retarded.
>>
>>20966503
Your opinion has no factor when the tribe's survival is at stake.
I shall destroy the weak and replace them with the strong.
>>
>>20966519
We're basically cavemen, we aren't fucking sissies with inflated morals and annoying ethics.
You are retarded.
>>
>>20966506
He fucking got mad for slicing a prisoner's throat, the gesture being meant to make the enemy make a wrong move.
>>
>>20966522
Yeah, you are an idiot. Your opinion is one among the masses and an unpopular one.
>>
>>20966517
The game is over dude wait till Thursday.
>>20966522
I will defend the weak who do not have a voice I am not the hero this tribe deserves I am the hero this tribe needs.
>>
>>20966535
If the tribe votes for it, I'll roll with it. As it is though, they do not look likely to. The thread is over, so you can shelve that opinion now. Seeds do not sprout if cast on infertile ground.
>>
>>20966560
Really?
Someone doesn't know how to make a war god act...
>>
>>20966574
Yeah, i wrote that before I saw his post. Woopsy.
>>
>>20966535
Actually you are wrong. Children were the most valuable resource available for a pre-industrial society, so people fucking cared for their lives
>>
>>20966567
Don't worry, it'll spread, like they always do.
>>
>>20966593
No, you just introduced it to the regulars of the thread, and we all seem to really oppose it. So I don't think you're going to get your way, sorry.
>>
>>20966590
Actually you are wrong.
It's people in general.
And when you can make your most valuable resource stronger, faster, and smarter, they'll do so.
>>
>>20966607
Shh, my child.
It will happen one way or another.
I hope that I don't have to take slightly more drastic measures, but eh. What must be done must be done.
>>
>>20966631
More drastic? I'm actually curious... like what?
>>
>>20966642
If I told you then OP would find means to resist it.
You won't know until long after it happens.
>>
>>20966653
Seed just give up you will not get your way.
Don't bother apologising. Don't feed the troll, people.
Figured it the moment
> Someone doesn't know how to make a war god act...
'Someone' clearly doesn't realise who's running this thread and making the NPCs. If I say Groza does not like the sacrifice of helpless victims, he doesn't. I'm the GM and that's how it works. Don't like it? Find a new war god, but so far, everyone seems fine with Broza.
>>
>>20966664
Whatever you say, Felix.
>>
>>20966614
Parents always cared for their children's lives. Passing your wealth and knowledge to your offspring is one of the main pillars of a human life throughout history, and killing one's child always made people mad.
And you're theory that a pre-historic society could have possibly planned their gene pool with generations in advance is just ridiculous. And among later societies, Sparta is one of the 0.00001% of cases where this thing was practiced.
And that's my last post on this matter
