The snakewoman priestess continued hugging you, her entire body rather cold, and then finally pulled away, her tail uncoiling from your legs.
"I'm... I'm sorry." Velk'lea said, wiping her face. The tip of her tail whipped this way and that. "It's just... Quoo became a whelp, and then... well, vanished, and she's never been quite... right. I thought she'd wandered into the desert and I thought she was dead. Thank you, thank you."
>>
>>21056282
"No, no, don't worry about it. She's safe in my kingdom right now, she was rescued by a group of my friends."
>>
"She's alive, well, and probably better than she's been in quite awhile.
Apparently what happened was that she was sentenced to death for drinking the sacramental wine. The scouts I had sent, the other humans who were here before, rescued her and brought her to my kingdom across the western ocean. She's living there quite happily, and has agreed to run the winery.
Oh yes, we were also able to fix her heat-blindness for her."

"But don't take my word for it," hand her the letter, "have hers."

"The humans who came here last time heard she was going to be killed and decided to rescue her. I was going to be in the area so she asked me to deliver this to you."

>>
>>21056342
Make it so it can turn on and off. If it's always on, it'll be way too obvious and she'll get flayed.
>>
"No, no, don't worry about it." You say. "My friends, the other humans who were here before, rescued her and brought her to my kingdom across the western ocena. She's living there quite happily."
"Is she?" She asked, and showed off her pointed teeth in a wide grin. She clasped together her hands.
"But don't take my word for it." You say, and pull out the letter. "Have hers."

Anxiously, she pulled it open, and started reading.

"You would be Queen Ishe'dalda?" She asked.
"Ishelda." You say.
"Right, sorry." She said, and went back to the letter. She finally finished it, and then... ate the paper.
"Thank you, again." She added. "It sounds like she's been quite well received, in your kingdom."
>>
>>21056342
Didn't we already make one a few threads ago after we talked to our snake friend?
>>
>>21056361
We left it with her
>>

"She took a bit of getting used to, but yes. Anyone is welcome in New Arcturus."

>>21056361
Yeah, we gave that one to her.
>>
>>21056360
"Can you tell me why she was branded as a whelp?"
>>
"She took a bit of getting used to, but yes, anyone is welcome in New Arcturus." You say.
"I'm glad to hear that." She said.
"I also have one more gift for you." You say. You close your palm, and focus your magic. When you open it again, a small crystal sat in your palm, glimmering with magic and warm to the touch.
She reared back a fraction.
"I... I cannot accept it. I apologize." She said, eying the crystal.

"... Can you tell me why she was branded as a whelp?"
"They've been... looking for an excuse, ever since the accident." She said, and whipped her head out the doorway for a moment, before slithering back into the sunlight. "The handmaidens, I mean. What she did... didn't matter. All that mattered was getting rid of her, to them. That's why they haven't pursued her, like they do to most whelps who are branded heretics."
>>
>>21056440
Assuming that we actually made it able to do so:
"Can you not accept the gift because it is magical? It can turn off if you will it.
But I will not be offended if you reject it anyway, I believe that I understand your situation."
>>
"Can you not accept the gift because it is magical? It can turn off, if you will it." You say, and impart a small portion of will into the crystal, and it winked out. "But I will not be offended if you reject it anyway. I believe that I understand your situation."
"It is still magical, I am afraid." She responded. "Again, I cannot accept it. But thank you for offering."
She bowed, and suddenly, three snakewomen burst into the room, the guard standing at the doorway. They were all different sizes, and the smallest lizardwoman was but a little girl, holding a baby version of those strange, scaled creatures from outside.

"My daughters." She said. "I have wonderful news. Quoo is alive."

They immediately started cheering.
>>
>>21056578
"I want to help you and your people, Velk'lea. From the stories I've heard, the priestesses rule over you with fear and tyranny."
>>
>>21056606
It's the handmaidens who are bitches.
>>
>>21056606
Might want to wait till we are alone to say that.
>>
>>21056626
Oops, meant the handmaidens.
>>
"I want to help you and your people, Velk'lea. From the stories I've heard, the handmaidens rule over you with fear and tyranny." You say, waiting until the guard left. The daughters go very quiet, and turn to the priestess.

"Please leave the two of us alone, for a moment." Velk'lea said, and her daughters- after a glance at you- nod and leave the room. With a harrumph, Grayson followed, your father, Kell, and Kristoph following.

"The handmaidens have, for longer than our kind has remembered, had two jobs. These are secrets that my predecessor told me, and I will tell to the daughter that succeeds me. I thought, for the longest time, that it would be Quoo. The Handmaidens have two jobs. Two that were given by a figure with a single eye. They're to be caretakers of the Great Wyrm, and the keepers of our laws." She said. "But... the Great Wyrm is no god."
>>
>>21056690
"How are they still in power then?"
>>
"How are they still in power, then?"
"This is why they do what they do." She said. "Because they brand whoever fights against them as heretics, and bring them before the Great Wyrm for a trial... then they use magic on whoever they bring. The magic that the Wyrm smells, and has insatiable hunger for. Anyone who argues is killed, this way or another, and they keep their overminds in control with the same magic that lets them control the Great Wyrm. This... This is how you can help."

She blinked, and took a deep, deep breath. "You can help by killing the Great Wyrm."
>>
>>21056840
"Who or what exactly is the Great Wyrm? What's the history of it?"
>>
"Who or what exactly is the Great Wyrm? What's the history of it?"
"Long ago, further than most history can remember, we were given a box. We were told, bound, to hold it, keep it safe, prepare it for the future. Generations passed, as we sealed the box within a chamber, far underground. One morning... the world shook. And when we laid eyes upon the box, we saw the Great Wyrm, instead. It had hatched into the beast. The beast... devours magic, as if it were food. We sate it, when we can, with the blood of the living, the flesh of the daryeh and wine."
>>
>>21056897
"And what happens if you do not feed it?"
>>
"And what happens if you do not feed it?"
"We don't know." She said. "We never have. The handmaidens tell us that it simply goes berserk and would get free... but I do not believe them. But this is how to free our people." She said. "If we kill the Great Wyrm, the handmaidens have no excuse to keep their power."
>>
>>21057028
"But they could use it as an excuse of sorts to claim further power and remove all rights from everyone else, could they not?"
>>
>>21057052
In their panic
>>
>>21057028
"I fear that killing it may bring more harm, Velk'lea. What if it were to split your nation into two opposing sides, leading to a bloody civil war. I will help where I can, but not if it causes a war."
>>
>>21056897
"It would remove their excuse, but not their power. Would they not cling to their power even harder?"
>>
"But they could use it as an excuse of sorts to claim further power in their panic, and remove all rights from everyone else, could they not?"
"They could try... but we priestesses have prepared for this... eventuality. We will go through with our plans."
"I fear that killing it may bring more harm, Velk'lea." You say. "It would remove their excuse, but not their power. Would they not cling to their power even harder?"
Suddenly, her facial expression changed, to something... predatory, something malevolent.
"Their excuse is their power." She said. "The populace follows them because of their love for the Wyrm. the love for that false god. If the god were to vanish... so would the love. And we priestesses will have the rest of the people's love, for we actually benefit them."
>>
>>21057125
"Because so many people love him, I would feel bad about killing him. He only has to vanish, right?"
>>
"Because so many people love him, I would feel bad about killing him. He only has to vanish, right?"
"If he vanishes, the handmaidens will remain in power, because in order to cling to their power, they will simply say that he will return any day." She said, and frowned. "You don't need to help us, if you do not wish to. We intend to go through with our plans nonetheless."
>>
>>21057253
"If it saves bloodshed, then I will help"

"What do you need me to do?"
>>
>>21057253
"I originally came to this continent because the leader of the dwarves, Tyr, plans to destroy the flow of magic into this world in less than a month. If I fail to stop him, the Great Wyrm will starve regardless.

Magic does too much good in the world for me to allow that to happen however. I would ask you to stay your plans for one month. If in that time I do not contact you, then the Great Wyrm will have no magic left to eat. After that, I will aid your people if I am still able."
>>
>>21057253
"...I'll think about it. Could I see him?"
Fuck, Quaz is going to be so heartbroken if we do this.
>>
>>21057333
He's not going to destroy the flow of magic. He's going to destroy wizardry. Talents like sorcery will still work. There will still be stuff for him to eat.
>>
"... I'll think about it." You say. "Could I see him?"
"It shouldn't be hard to arrange." She said. "But if he goes wild toward you, the handmaidens will take you as a sacrifice, like they've done so for any curious elven couriers who have arrived. Are you certain?"
>>
>>21057378
"I doubt they could take me."
That being said, let's have kristoph erect an anti-magic ward if we do go see the Great Wyrm.
>>
>>21057378
"From what you've told me, if he can't smell any magic it should be fine. I think I can hide that."
Go Kristoph, it's your time to shine!
>>
"From what you've told me, if he can't smell any magic, it should be fine. I think I can hide that." You say.
"Well... be careful." She said. "My daughter cares for you, and I'm thankful that you took care of her, especially after her accident." She cleared her throat. "If you make a decision, though... inform me, or if I'm unavailable, inform the priestess Grek'alith."
>>
>>21057487
"Well, if not I'll simply have to make a daring escape."
>>
>>21057487
"Thank you, I will."

>>
"Thank you, I will." You say.
"I can most likely lead you to his chambers, or I can have one of my daughters do it for you." She said, her hood flaring. "Except for little Bell'lea. she's still quite young."
>>
>>21057487

She shook her head, and sighed. "Her undermind is still intact, however- that's why she still lives."

"Um... if any of you want to move to New Arcturus, you're welcome there." You say. "It would probably be good for Quaz to be around others of her kind."
"That's... that's a very kind offer, Queen Ishelda." She said, and closed her eyes. "I- I don't know how to respond to that."

"I'm certain I will accept, in time." She said. "But for now, we must go through with our plans."
You give her a hug- a proper one, this time, and the two of you leave the room, meeting up with the three daughters, and your companions. The youngest snakewoman was currently curled around him, napping Grayson's enormous head, hugging the small, scaled creature in her hand, snoozing.

Maybe I'm just being dumb right now, but I seem to be having difficulty understanding this part. Can somebody elaborate?
>>
>>21057957
She's wrapped her snake part around his head and gone to sleep, and she's hugging the little creature thing like a teddy bear.
>>
"Having fun?" You ask. Gently, as to not wake the snakegirl sleeping on his head, Grayson nodded. The snakegirl mumbled something in draconian, and tightened the tail coiled around the dire bear's jaw.
"Kristoph, do you think you can smother all of our magic so Wyrmy can't smell it?" You murmur to him, softly, and he nods a fraction.

The group of snakewomen and your group walk all the way down through the tunnels, taking seemingly random passageways, until you reach a large gate, with eight snakewomen guards- they all have, not only veils over their faces, but large hoods, hiding everything but their eyes from sight.

"Priestess Velk'lea." One of them say, and slither forward. "And her daughters, and the new visitors. Welcome to the Great Palace of the Great Wyrm. I am Handmaiden Tuel'va. For what reason have you come to this place?"
Velk'lea gave her a polite smile. "Lady Ishelda, from far to the east, nobility of the land of Cerenia, made a pilgrimage to this land in order to lay her eyes upon the Great Wyrm." She lied, smoothly. "Alongside her retainers, of course."

"The two great ... beasts, will not be allowed in the chamber, of course." The handmaiden said, eying Grayson and Kell. "But the humans may."

"Stay here, okay?" Kristoph asked the troll. "Stay here."
The troll grawwed, and then immediately sat down.

The handmaidens split, and Tuel'va, and one of the other veiled handmaidens, both opened the door.
"Lady Ishelda, I am afraid we won't be able to accompany you." Velk'lea said, and bowed.

You, Kristoph, and your father step in through the long hallway, led by two handmaidens on either side, and they stopped at a second set of gates. You feel something ... breathing, on the other side.

The handmaidens share a glance, and you feel enchantment magic come from them, and they open the door. Immediately, Kristoph's antimagic flows over you, hiding your magic, and in front of you... You see a demon.

A 'beast' demon, according to the hobgoblins- demons that took the shape of dragons. It stared down at you sleepily, and you can tell, intuitively, that the creature is much, much larger than any other you'd seen, and much, much older- it's warped, charred scales cracked with age, and those blazing eyes...
A chill runs over your body- you can sense incredible amounts of magic from it, even through Kristoph's anti-magic.

One of the walls behind the demon start trembling.

"Do you know who I am?" You ask, your voice trembling- with what, you're not sure- but the demon simply stares at you, and then moves along, looking to your father, and then Kristoph, just slowly breathing, calmly... and then it closed it's eyes again, laying it's head back down.

"He's been unusually pleased this morning." The other handmaiden said, and Tuel'va nodded.
"Thank you for letting me see-" You say, but something interrupts you.

The wall shuddered, and exploded open, as a dozen tall, burly men made of stone burst out, roaring with battle-lust, their faces covered in lichen, and wearing heavy steel armor. They held strange weapons that were a fusion of axes and hammers, and they brought the hammer down on one of the demon's paws, already in movement!

"Dwarves!" Tuel'va called, roaring down the hallway. The dragon whirled about, and snatched a dwarf in it's mouth, roaring as it crushed the screaming man.

You hear hissing come from the hallway you just were, and the clank of steel. A dwarf brought his axe-hammer down on you, and you drew Rikar just in time, as Kristoph lifts his anti-magic from you.

>YOU.
"You!" Someone roars from the tunnel in the back of the chamber. you see a dwarf, made of some reddish stone, with an enormous, unbelievably dark hammer- one that almost looked like it was made of obsidian. Molded out of his head was a crown, complete with gems set into it. "Dras'lea, I will *slay* you!" He roared, and charged, as Kristoph and Abel back away. The hammer slammed into Tuel'va's tail, and it tore through, as if her powerful, muscled and armored tail was merely butter.
"You cannot stop me!" He roared, and took a step forward. The demon behind him, it's meal done, reached for the dwarf with the hammer-

"Overlord Tyr. I am not Dras'lea. You are the one who must be stopped from removing all wizardry." You say, as more and more dwarves pour out of the tunnels.
"It doesn't matter who you are." He said, and punctuated his sentence by slamming the hammer into Tuel'va's head, killing her instantly.
You reach out, with your hand, and bring forth your magic, to stop, or to silence him- you're not quite sure what you're doing, but you need to do it now. Magic bursts from your hand, and tears into the overlord's stone flesh, dust falling from it.
"No." He cries. His entire torso rears back as he brings the hammer behind his head- and then throws it, straight at you. The terrifyingly devastating hammer tore toward you. You quickly look to Kristoph and your father, both struggling to hold their own against the sudden dwarven invasion.

<Aeriel!> You cry, and the three of you land on Jormungandr, torn through space. Grayson and Kell land next to you, seemingly unharmed.

Well. On the one hand, the Wyrm was a demon, and it got killed by Tyr. That is good news. On the other hand, the bad news is that Tyr knows we are here and his first action was to try to kill me on sight.

On the OTHER hand, we know that we can hurt him. And if we can hurt him we can kill him. On the fourth hand, now Tyr knows this too and will probably make us a high priority target.

Kaliel, I need more hands.
>>
>>21058559

"Is anyone injured?" You ask.
"I'm fine." Kristoph said.
"Tired, but I'm fine." Your father said. He was kneeling, and wheezing, and... bleeding. Fellwind rushed to him.

"Everyone!" You say. "Prepare for combat! Tyr and the dwarves are here."

<Aeriel, translocate Velk'lea and her daughters here, now.>
<Right away.> He said, and with a flash of light, some snakewomen appeared, wounded. One held a hammer, a terrifying expression, and she had a crushed dwarf in her tail- Velk'lea.

"We have to get back." Velk'lea said, hissing. "The dwarves are retreating. They have... whatever that was, inside the Great Wyrm's body."

"Right." you say, and urge the control crystal to go toward the largest building there- the palace, you assume, where the dwarves and the Great Wyrm lie underneath.

"Quickly then, we'll accompany you." You say.
<Aeriel, if you please. Me, Velk'lea, Grayson, and Kaliel.>

<Right away.> Aeriel said. You tear through space, once again, and you end up in the chamber of the Great Wyrm, where there's the instant stench of death, and demonflesh is strewn about the room, a massive cavity in the Wyrm's torso. Dwarves are fighting the handmaidens, of which more and more are coming with weapons, but Tyr is nowhere to be found- but you give the tunnel a look. He must be.. inside.

Grayson rears back, and starts mauling a dwarf, roaring as he does so, while Kaliel struggles to recover from the sudden translocation. Velk'lea goes back into the fight, and one of the dwarves poke out of the tunnel.
"Retreat!" He cries. "The overlord is safe! Retreat!"

You close your eyes, and reach into your cloak's pocket, taking ahold of Aeriel's orb in one hand. With the other, you grip Rikar.

You open your eyes again, and suddenly you Moved, here and there, as you swing your blade. Knees are torn asunder as you whirl around, Rikar flashing as you spin, Moving over and over, every Dwarf in the chamber collapsing.

The dwarf- the one poking his head out, 'eeps' and raises his hand, to show he had no weapon.

You give him a glare, and then you focus your will, through the tunnel- and what a tunnel it was, longer than you could've thought, and you feel a Presence, carrying two artifacts- one on his shoulder, and the other under his arm- and you will two earth elementals into existance, in front of him.

for a flash of a second, you see Tyr, running, with the hammer on his shoulder, and a strange, flesh-colored box under his arm, written in ogrish, with a keyhole. He swings his hammer, and awareness of both elementals suddenly vanish.

You open your eyes again.

"Aeriel, take me there." You say.
<There? Where?>
"In front of Tyr."
<But, I don't know where he is, and I can't->
You close your eyes, and reach for the box, and for Tyr himself, bringing forth your magic... but the magic doesn't cling to the box, for whatever reason- your hold on it is too slippery to grab it- so instead, you grab Tyr, and, gritting your teeth, try to drag him back-

And, with a start, you realize that he's not being pulled back. His hammer is refusing to slow, and as he's hanging onto it, he is as well. You start breathing deeply, your magic slowly being expended.

>Sunder is a hammer. Massive, powerful, and it can only be moved by the arm of the holder. It can be an unstoppable force, an unmovable object, whatever the holder desires. I've seen Tyr stand on it, suspended by it as if gravity did not exist.
Just to remind everyone what we're dealing with.
>>
>>21058891
He'll run full tilt into a wall. Either he'll keep going, in which case we'll at least be closer, or he'll be at the very least disoriented.
>>
You grip Aeriel tighter, and close your eyes again, and you raise a portal up in front of Tyr, putting the other one in front of the chamber wall. The spell pries open a hole, and you see Tyr charging toward the other end of the tunnel- and toward your portal and you, paradoxically. He skids to a stop, staring at the portal.
"Enough *wizardry*." He snarled. He banged the hammer against the surface of the portal- and it shook, reverberating the spell, as you feel it lose a slight amount of coherency. He reared back, and swung the hammer again. The portal shook again, and from your vantage point of the backside of the portal, you see a crack appear.

Still in the tunnel, he roared again, slamming the hammer into the portal that stood in his way. Somehow, paradoxically, the hammer didn't go through the portal, but instead, collided with it.

"No wizardry here, I'm afraid." you say, and dive through the portal, Rikar in hand. With your will, you raise two earth elementals on each side of him, grabbing his feet, and you dive forward, Rikar in hand. "Magic *is* my talent!" you cry, diving into the tunnel. You slash one of his wrists, and he growls, even louder, and brings down the hammer with his other hand, forcing you to leap back, away from him.
"And my talent." He snarled. "Is this."

Sudden evocation bursts from him, and one of the stones from the tunnel- one of the larger ones, to be more precise- fly toward you, flattening into a solid object. It clung to your leg, heavy, and weighed you down. Strange, dwarven hands started reaching from the stone, and the elementals around his ankles... let go of him, and start tromping toward you- you still have awareness of them, but they're being moved *physically* by the dwarf.

"Kristoph!" You cry, turning to the portal. The knight charges toward the portal, and Tyr raises a hand, putting a large stone wall in front of the other side of the portal- stopping Kristoph from coming through.

"Thou art a hipocrite and a fool, Tyr Ironhand!" you say, and reach out with your magic. You try to seal him as best you can and the other elemental fell apart, but your spell refused to seal him permenantly. Tyr rears back, hammer in one hand, the box held under the arm of his other, broken hand.

Some kind of energy born from sapient life. Love would be a concept, as would the want for power, or perhaps serenity, or even the desire for a good meal could be a Concept. Mortality and identity was a concept, too, in the case of the Wanderer. Magic deals in that sort of stuff, but only very, very rarely."

>The armor is an artifact- it became a semi-artifact when Redglare made it, and it became a full artifact when the statue bestowed a Concept on it.

You try to move- but the stone encompassing your leg had melded with the ground, refusing to budge. Your armor starts gleaming... and you close your eyes, as the hammer comes...
>Fate point used.
And the silver light in your arms start blazing with power, and you lean back, as the hammer slows- and then stops- and all time pauses, as the force beam ricochets against Tyr's face, gems flying away from him, suspended in the air.

You crouch, draw rikar, and hack away at the stone encompassing your ankle. Time suddenly unfreezes, and the hammer goes flying above your head as you finally free your leg.

Recoiling, Tyr crouched, still holding the hammer in his hand. He raised the hammer again.

"Dras'lea." He snarled. "Just because you have a new trick doesn't mean you can kill me." He said, panting, chips of stone falling from his face. With his broken wrist, gasping in pain, he picked the box back up. "Retreat, and I let you live. My quarrel was never with you."

"My name is Queen Ishelda, and you will be remembered as a tyrant." You say, and charge, Rikar in hand. Still dazed, he took a step back as you jabbed the blade toward him. He blocked it with the hammer, twirling it in his wrist, and Rikar jarred, badly, as your wrist twisted wrong.
"A tyrant?" He asked. "A tyrant for trying to save this world?!" He asked, and took another step back.
"I can't let you destroy wizardry, and I don't think I should let you have that box."
"I'm destroying what's in this box." He said. "I don't know what you mean by destroying wizardry, but I *will* destroy the Gearworks, and nobody will stop me."

>>
>>21059749
I wasn't implying it was entirely our fault, I said 'we killed him' had enough truth in it to use it as a threat. You don't explain every fucking detail of your what happened to your enemy when trying to intimidate them.

That is a shit tea-set and you should feel ashamed.

>>21059751
"First things first, I am NOT Dras'Lea. I am Queen Ishelda of Arcturus and I believe we need to sort this out. The Gearworks is a font of magic and is capable of absurd feats. Destroying it could alter the very foundations of the universe."
>>
>>21059751
"I was told that the gearworks reversed entropy. Took magic from the void that was expelled from all worlds and brought it back into this one. That your destroying of it would stop that flow entirely.

But I suspect...that we may be able to find out which one of us is correct for certain. The rune on that box says 'Triune' in Ogrish. Triune has left me several messages before - I see no reason why he would not do so again."
>>
>>21059799
But it doesn't. What we did was effectively leave a knife on the table-top. Somebody else grabbed it and killed him with it.
>>
"What convinced you that Gearworks destroys magic?"
"The world." He said. "No, the universe. Is a cycle. Magic lives in the void, and that is where spells go when they are complete- even if a talent is used." He said. "Magic comes from the afterlife, the product of living souls, and uses the worlds as a doorway." He said. "Through the sun, and the stars... in the form of astral fire. The gearworks goes *against* that order, against that cycle, tearing magic directly from the void, rather than letting it blossom in living beings. That is what I have learned." He took a deep breath. "I may hate wizardry, but I don't wish to destroy it."
>>

"It filled this world with magic, yes... but it stopped blooming within other worlds. Other worlds starved, and the demon was one such race- one that relied on wizardry. Why do you think it was destroyed by wizardry?"
"I was told by Dras'lea, who I believe is me from an alternate future, that when you destroyed it, things went to hell." You say.

You see an impossible amount of spinning wheels, gears, belts, and some steam from nowhere burns out at your perception, slightly scalding you. It's enormous on the inside, truly beyond belief... but something sounds... wrong. Missing.

"Ishelda." Tyr said, his voice pulling you from your examination.
"Tyr, can you free Dras'lea from her curse?" You ask. "I can interrogate her further if she's not going to suddenly drop dead without the gearworks to save her."

I hate demons even more than you do and want the best thing for all the world, you don't need to worry about me wanting the power for my own. Sense the gear works, hold it in our hand, find what's wrong, learn as much as we can from it and then consider putting the gear in.

<Kaliel, in case something does go wrong, I need you to go back to the Jormungandr.> You say.
<Be careful, Ishelda.> She said.

Gently, you press it against the gearworks- and the gear slides within the glass, and then the entire thing starts lifting into the air, completely apropros of gravity.
>Tick
"Something's happening, most certainly." Tyr said.
>Tick
It starts shaking, and you feel the magic in the air tremble, and start going away, pulled into the Gearworks. Kaliel's living armor starts... withering, turning gray.
>Tick
The gearworks swelled, and started growing, more and more gears peeking up between the others...
>Tick
And then the glass sphere surrounding the gears shattered, and it continued swelling. And... a small hatch in the side opened, larger on the inside than the outside. One perfectly sized for you to climb in.

And when you land, you're in an enormous room, the walls made of brass. There was a large, white dragon, dead, gears and strange pipes connected to it's heart, pumping it over and over, once for each tick. Also set into the heart was a strange plaque... with seven sockets... and four gems.
