You are Anon, newly-minted Street Fighter, and you think this gi feels kinda silly.

>previous thread here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/21071026/

"Bow when you enter the dojo," your buddy Pete says. You put your hands at your side and bow deeply at the waist, not sure how to balance being sarcastic and being sincere with this. By your side Pete places a palm over a closed fist and bows.

It's been a week since Earl Gray and you beat each other half to death. You visited him in the hospital this morning with a card that said Get Well Soon (you checked, they don't make one that says SORRY FOR THE SAVAGE BEATING) and some balloons, only getting a death glare that said more than words could in response. Mostly because Earl's jaw was wired shut after your finisher. After a minute of tense, icy silence you slipped out.

Here in the dojo, with warm afternoon sunlight streaming in through the windows and the smell of freshly scrubbed wood, you can feel the tension of the week slowly drain from your body. An entire week of waiting for another attack from any random stranger starts to eat away at a man. Things just seemed simpler here.

"Let's get you warmed up a bit, see how well you've recovered," Pete says. "Standard sparring rules, first to three downs wins. Sound good?"

>Sounds good.
>Maybe run through some forms and work on the heavy bag instead.
>WRONG. TO THE PAIN, PETE.
>>
Maybe it was a little too early in the day to start this up?
>>
>Maybe run through some forms and work on the heavy bag instead.

Last thread he said we were in bad shape. I figure working on that first would be the way go

>Maybe run through some forms and work on the heavy bag instead.

It happen, just wait little longer, the people will join in.
>>
Training in the dojo? Weak. We should go swim up a waterfall or bench press a boulder twice our size. Get some REAL training done.
>>
>>21082486
Yeah, i think we should take it slow, we are fresh out of the hospital.

>Maybe run through some forms and work on the heavy bag instead.

Also i hope they didnt take our bowtie when we entered the dojo, or otherwise THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!
>>
"My ribs are still in pretty rough shape, honestly," you say. Pete nods and heads to the back, returning a moment later with some punching mitts.

"Alright, let's just take it slow for now. We need to work on your set-up and combos anyway."

"I'm doing alright so far," you say, throw out a few jabs. Your ribs feel tender, but the sharp pains are gone.

"Alright, yeah, but you're going all-or-nothing on every attack. You're strong and fast as hell so it's working, but you can't go full rushdown against every opponent and expect it to work."

For a second you remember when Earl Gray charged you, your hip bumping against the table, that terrible second when you had nowhere to go. Maybe Pete's got something there.

You throw out a jab for the classic one-two punch. Something in your side aches just the wrong way at the wrong time and the punch barely doesn't quite land. You decide to throw out the right straight anyway.

The right is solid and cleanly executed. You catch Pete wincing a little bit.

"Okay, so you're getting the hang of it. Just remember that each set-up hit is gonna give you diminishing returns. After awhile you'll lose momentum and your followup won't be as strong. Let's work at that for awhile."

You drill the basic one-two combo until it comes as naturally as breathing. You're not sure if it will quite translate into your stick fighting, but one of the lessons you learned from the Earl Gray fight was to have a backup style in case you're caught without weapons. Also never leave home without your sticks.

"Alright, time for some real talk," Pete says.

"Yeah? What's that?" you ask between breaths.

"I'm not the one who's gonna hone you up to World Warrior Tournament level. For one thing we don't even fight in the same style, for another you're already a step beyond most of my students."

"I can train on my own," you say. You picture yourself wandering into the wilderness, swimming up waterfalls, knocking over trees with your fists. Shit's gonna be so cash.

"I know what you're thinking and stop it right now. For one thing you don't know shit about camping, for another there aren't any mountains near Metro City."

You stop punching, breathing hard as you and Pete rest. You've actually managed to work up more of a sweat than you anticipated.

"Look, I've got some questions. You don't have to answer right away, but these things might make a difference about who you want to train with."

"For one thing, why do you fight?"

>To win.
>To become stronger.
>I fight for its own sake.

"What's your end goal?"

>To become the World Warrior Champion
>Not get my ass kicked.
>Hadn't thought of an end goal yet.

"You after money, fame, something else?"

>The prize money and the fame
>To be a respected and honored fighter
>Another goal

"I mean, like I said, you don't have to answer now. Just think about it, alright? You're gonna be making some choices coming up here that really depend on what you want.

We are after dandyness and respect, like the heroes of old.
>>
You mull it over, the conflicting motivations running through your mind. You'll probably have to sleep on this.

"Sorry to drop that on you. Hey, you thought about learning a projectile move?"

In all honesty your method of throwing sticks super hard at people has worked so far, but you can't guarantee an infinite supply of sticks the way other fighters can an infinite supply of blue fire out of nowhere.

"Look, check this out," Pete says. He starts shadowboxing a few light-jabs in the center of the dojo floor. After about ten seconds he throws a right straight that projects a blue flash about ten feet straight from his fist.

"Holy shit," you say, "Since when have you been able to do that?"

"Pretty sweet, huh?" Pete says, grinning ear to ear. "I finally worked it out last week. It's even kind of an original construct instead of just another ground wave or big blue ball like everyone else does."

>Can you teach me to do the same thing?
>Can you teach me to create my own projectile?

"Can you hit me with one of those? Never been hit with a chi attack before, I'd prefer to know what to expect going in."

Pete shrugs and moves about ten feet from you. He warms up through a series of shadowboxing moves again before throwing that last right straight. You're quick enough to notice that it actually retains the shape of his fist, just glowing bright blue. Then it socks you in the jaw.

It feels exactly like being punched in the face.

"You alright?" Pete asks.

"Yeah, yeah, fine," you say, rubbing your jaw. "Do they all feel like that?"

"Little less or a little more depending on the shape. Chi is chi, though, it's basically just a big bundle of energy throwing itself at you."

"Huh," you say. "Think you can teach me to do that?"

"Honestly? No."
>>
>>21083584
Well, that didn't escalate at all.
>>
>>21083475
This. We clearly learn better through experience. Our projectile should be some sort of shockwave from swinging our stick/arm so hard the air cracks around it. Ki magic can enhance it.
>>
>>21083655

"That's...kinda harsh," you say.

"Well, you've got no chi control," Pete says, shrugging. "You've got crazy strong chi the way most fighters do, but you can't actually do anything with it. It just kinda sits there."

"Oh," you say. It's kinda disappointing.

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about today, actually," Pete says. "Like I said, I can't train you, but I can tell you a bit about your style. Like, if I had to break it down...here, I wrote it out."

Pete actually pulls a note out of his pocket. It reads

ANON'S STATS
POWER: A
SPEED: A
DEFENSE: C
CHI: C

"S-rank style," you say.

"Whatever," Pete says. "I can get you a meeting with two trainers, but you're gonna have to impress them. One of them's Karate Joe the Fighting Hobo."

"The karate hobos?" you say. You've seen them around Metro City the same way everyone has, usually eating the turkeys that get left around the city by Governor Haggar or beating up Mad Gear remnants for money. They keep the street gangs in check and never attack civilians though, so police let them go.

"You'll get proper chi control if you train with the karate hobos. Once you can control your chi you can do whatever you want with it. So that'll raise your chi. Probably take your speed up with it. Make a man out of you."

"What's the other option?" you ask, your heart sinking.

"The other option is harsher. I know a fighter from Southtown. Kyokugen Style Karate. If you meet their fighter and impress him you can train in Southtown until the World Warrior tournament starts."

"Isn't Kyokugen the style that nobody learns because the human body can't take it?" you ask. "There was a thing about it on the news."

"Very, very few people have mastered it, that is true," Pete says. "You're not going there to learn proper Kyokugen-ryu, though, you're going there to learn their conditioning methods. If you do that you'll be taking your Strength and Defense stats up a level. That's good if you keep up the rushdown style."

"No, I remember now, they threw a guy out of a plane."

"Out of a helicopter. At a tree, it broke his fall. Look, you've only got two months before the World Warrior tournament, you've got to knuckle up fast. These are your two best bets. And we don't even know if either of them will accept you yet, you've got to impress them."

That sinking feeling in your stomach just keeps getting lower. "And how do we impress them?"

"Well, there's the beautiful part. You're gonna help me and I'll help you on this one." Pete leads you out of the dojo to the duffle bag he brought with him. "We've got a King of Fighters three-on-three bout with Southtown in a week, and we're down a man. You fill in, you'll meet both the trainers at the meet."

"W-well..."

Your name is Boss Honda and you're looking for the man who ruined your life.

A little over a week ago you were having a few beers and watching the World Warrior tournament in your favorite bar with some friends. Jolene was there, the beautiful green-eyed waitress with a body to die for, and six months of big tips and backwoods charm seemed like they were finally going to get you to a date. Next thing you know some punk in a bowtie - a bowtie! - knocks a beer out of your hand in front of everyone. You threw him the gentlest Hundred Hand Slap you could to lay him out. It might have been overkill, but you were a little drunk.

Half an hour later and the punk comes back in to take a shot at you. You don't like thinking about the rest - you especially don't like thinking about the end - but it ends with you unconscious with a foot-long sex toy thrown on your face. If you hadn't been fired up you might not have wagered your title. You might not have to see the laughter in everyone's eyes when you tried to come back the next night. You might not have seen that someone drew graffiti of that sex toy on top of the signed photo of you that used to hang on the wall. Jolene might not have laughed when you asked her out.

Someone's gonna pay.
>>
>>21086402
Oh, this'll be fun. The Rufus to our Ken.
>>
>>21086402

That night, reeling home drunk from Jolene's dismissal, you tear out a page from the phonebook with the five Anon Ymus listings in Metro City. You pass out at home, the page still clutched in your hand...

The next day you wake up to the morning news blaring. You fell asleep in front of the TV again. Theres a story about this Anon asshole getting into it again, beat a boxer named Earl Gray half to death.

>start looking for Anons in the phonebook

Save
>clean up our act, renounce violence, pursue Jolene as a gentleman
for later. We avenge our honor, THEN we settle down. Some gayfucker cityboy needs a good shit-slapping before anything else.

Save the urge to settle down for now, son. You want a fine woman like Jolene, you're gonna need to be a champion, not a laughingstock.

This Earl Gray fella might be able to tell you a bit more about how this Anon fights, though. You own memories of the fight are hazy, and what you do remember you don't like to think of.

Later that morning you've arrived at Metro City Central, the premiere trauma unit in the tri-state area. An enormous statue of Mike Haggar stands before it, knocking around a half-dozen Mad Gear punks. The chance to live under the jurisdiction of such a fine destroyer of men was the entire reason the Honda clan relocated here from Oklahoma.

At the front desk you lay the southern charm on thick as you can with the nurse. She asks your relation to Mr Gray. You quickly scramble for a suitable lie.

"Maybe just help me out any way you can?" you ask. "Tell me what you know about him. Maybe if you get healed up before I manage to find him we can take 'im on together. Sound good?"

Earl Gray motions for you to come closer, and you do. He then motions with his good arm for you to give him a pen, and you gladly oblige. He spends a few seconds writing out a message before sliding the paper to you.

The message reads SUMO IS FOR FAT BABIES.

"I see you are not a cooperative man," you say, mustering all the dignity you can. No time to get sidetracked from your revenge. You jot down your number. "Just in case you stop being such a phenomenal asshole."

You turn to leave. The visit was something of a bust, but you still learned a few things. Earl Gray was a huge man and still got his ass stomped by Anon, so at least you didn't lose to some chickenshit wimp.

Standing in the hallway is a young woman in a radical motherfucking helmet. She seems to be waiting to go into Earl's room.

She silently digests this information for a few moments. There's no sound but the buzzing of the overhead lights giving everything a sickly greenish tinge. Watching this unmoving statue of a woman you're suddenly a little unnerved.

"I'm going to have to fight you. A little bit. Please prepare yourself," she says. She steps into a ready stance - some variant on karate, you think.

>Laugh it off and offer to sign something for her. She's obviously a fan.
>This is weird. Get into a ready stance.

>if this gets too confusing I might drop it though

"No more suckerpunches!" you think to yourself. You lay on with a Hundred Hand Slap. A proper one this time, not the gentle-as-can-be version you gave that Anon.

The girl doesn't move, not properly. She twists and bends a little at the waist here and there, but her feet remain firmly planted. This lasts for maybe two seconds - an eternity in slap-time - before she lashes out with a punch.

The punch is almost laughably slow. You grab hold of her wrist and armbar her hard to the side. She flies about five feet into the concrete wall of the hospital and hits hard.

She just stands there for a moment, perfectly immobile. Almost inhuman. Maybe that rattled her head in the helmet a bit and left her woozy.

Suddenly, quickly - inhumanly quickly - she lashes out again, this time with a kick.

She's faster this time - too fast. The boot connects while your hand is still halfway raising to defend. You stagger, your vision starting to blur.

>Erm. I was planning on this fight going a bit longer, but...Skull girl rolled over a hundred. So.

You couldn't have planned this out better if you tried. It's a narrow hallway, she's standing with her back against a corner. Nowhere to dodge to. Time for your hero's signature move, FLYING HEADBUTT.

Skull Girl plants her feet and draws her fist back. Even as you launch you have a bad feeling about this.

The last thing you feel before you fade to black is a gloved fist slamming into the top of your skull like a jackhammer.

You come back from the darkness to a gloved hand slapping the shit out of you.

"Wake up. Wake up and speak," Skull Girl says. She's hooked her arms under yours and is dragging you to the elevator one pull at a time.. "What does he look like? Anon?"

"B-brown hair, kinda normal lookin'," you manage to slur. With a grunt she hauls you another foot, pausing to catch her breath. "Wears a bowtie and suspenders."

"How does he fight?" she asks. Another titanic pull. You're halfway into the elevator now.

"Two sticks. Pool cue. Then a big ol' dildo." That actually causes her to pause.

"Did you just say a big dildo?"

"Huge. Slapped me right in the face with it." Tears nearly spring to your eyes. "I got beat up with a dildo and then a little wisp of a girl like you beat me."

With one pull she drags you the rest of the way into the elevator. She pounds the button for the trauma floor (one of them, at least. Metro City's a rough town) and steps out.

"What are you gonna do?" you ask.

"I'm gonna ask Earl Gray the same questions I asked you. Then I'm going to find Anon and ask him a few questions." She half turns to face you as the doors close. "Don't feel too bad about this. You never stood a chance against Kyokugenryu."

BOSS HONDA QUEST 1 END
>>
>>21088240
>>21088229

I meant for Boss Honda to get sober, start working out and become a serious rival to Anon. Then the rolls for Boss Honda went pretty badly and Skull Girl rolled like a boss. If he appears again I really hope it goes better for him.

>>21088246

He could probably take Earl Gray in a fight right now. But that's not saying much. They may both reappear once they've had time to recover.

A self-proclaimed sworn rival of a man looking to restore elegance and dignity to fighting is a sumo redneck. I'd written Boss Honda off as comic relief, but if that's what you're looking for, then don't let us stop you.

>>21088286
So a second route to Kyokuygen Ryu out of nowhere?

We'll have her teach her the conditioning while we train with the hobos.
>>
>>21088360

He's a silly premise, but he's a rough-loooking and inelegant man who uses a highly cultured fighting art. He might make sense as a rival to Anon, who's elegant but fights like a motherfucking beast. And we did apparently ruin his life.

A last shout to the late-night readers, you can still contribute answers to >>21083224. Determining Anon's goals and personality a bit with that one.

Doesn't matter if you're wandering into the thread at midnight after everyone else has stopped posting, your answers will still count.

Well, I guess my answers are still good.

>Why do you fight?

Someone archive this? Already it looks like we've missed the second one.
>>
"For one thing, why do you fight?"

>To win.

There's no sense of fighting for anything else but victory. Pete, I know you and most of Metro City think my win was a fluke, that I'm not a worthy contender for the title. But I don't get into fights I can't win.

"What's your end goal?"

>To become the World Warrior Champion

I know what the stakes are. Up there, in the highest tiers of the tournament, we got people with robot arms, reincarnations of old gods, insane experimental monsters and people that can set me on fire with a casual wave of the hand. I know all that. And I'm going in there to show them a regular guy can be more than a match for all that crap.

"You after money, fame, something else?"

>To be a respected and honored fighter

I may not act like much of a gentleman, but I think it's time that the tournament gained some much-needed style. When the reigning champion of Metro City is a redneck sumo wrestler, you know something's terribly wrong.

Those are my answers.

>>21087732

I'd prefer if Skull Girl is Akira, actually. Or at least a student of hers. I imagine she's grown to be a fine leader in the criminal underworld by now.
>>
>>21090324

They should all be in the archive. Only the first one is missing the Street Fighter Quest tag, but it shows up under the tag for Street Fighter.

>>21091702

It's a fighter who was likely inspired by Akira the way Anon was inspired by Eagle. The problem with it actually being Akira is 1. She lives in Japan and 2. This takes place an unspecified amount of time after Street Fighter 3, so she'd likely be in her thirties by now. If we reach Japan in the World Warrior Tournament she may show up as a cameo.
