You're sitting in one of the vaults, far beneath Sanctuary, with a slender, feeble version of yourself, hugging you tightly. Lewin is standing a bit back, eying the two of you.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Dras'lea- once the Void Queen- was murmuring into your shoulder, over and over- not to you, but to... someone else. Something else.

She looked over to Lewin, and teared up again.
"C-can we have some privacy?" She asked.
"Well, um..." Lewin said, scratching his head. He gave you a glance, as if asking you what he should do.
>>
"Go ahead, Lewin. We'll be fine here."
>>
>>21137131
"Let's all get out of this dingy vault. We can talk in my room."
>>
>>21137147
Seconding this
>>
"Go ahead, Lewin, We'll be fine here." You say.
"Okay. Um... feel better." Lewin said, and started to leave.
"W-wait." She said, and Lewin froze. "Take... That." She nodded to the world key. "It... It hates me."
He eyed it, and then picked it up. "I'll put it in the center room thing on my way out." He told you, and left.

"Let's get out of this dingy vault." You say. "We can talk in my room."
"I- I don't feel like moving." She said. "This place is ... is fine."
She closed her eyes for a moment, and then met yours. Even with her emotions back, her eyes were a dark, dark gray, her pupils nothing but pinpoints. She was... marked.

"Uh.."
>>
>>21137192
"Why don't you start at the beginning. Who are you, really?"
>>
>>21137192
"I'm just glad that you're you again."
>>
>>21137196
...no, dingy vaults.

>>21137211
Seconding. The beginning is the very best place to start.
>>
"Why don't you start at the beginning." You say. "Who are you, really?"
"Nobody." She mumbled. "I shouldn't exist. But in another time, another place... I was you. And then everybody died. It... started with Lewin. He was stealing some Galadriel's Light, and... got caught. The cloak was... what I made to hide him. He... died in my arms. Like Ghujj."
>>
>>21137192
"You may be fine here, but I'm not. I guess I'll just have to carry you. A bed will be more comfortable than the stone floor of these vaults."
>>
>>21137244
"I remember that. Here, he almost died in that same event."
>>
>>21137244
"I imagine Fellwind didn't take that well."
>>
"I remember that." You say. "Here, he almost died in that same event."
"I... helped." She said. "Helped with that."
"I imagine fellwind didn't take that well."
"He left, when we got to Cerulean city." She said... and then started shivering, her fists clenching, the nails cutting small crescent marks into her palm. "He was the last. The last to die."
She went somehow paler, and then closed her eyes, and shook her head, almost imperceptably.
"Getting out of order again." She said. "The next... was everyone. Jormungandr. The w-wanderer killed them. It. He had... used an illusion, to make Fellwind kill the High Lady. And when we visited to c-clear Fellwind's name, then he just snapped his fingers. He'd... sabotaged the ship, and... I-it exploded."
>>
>>21137307
"The Wanderer? I thought he loved you."
>>
>>21137307
"Gareth was a bastard."
>>
>>21137307
"That's...horrible. Thank you for getting rid of him."
>>
"The Wanderer? I thought he loved you."
"Not... not in that world. Not in that place." She said. "He was... insane, then. I'll g-get to that."
"Gareth was a bastard." You say.
"Gareth was sad." She responded, and closed her eyes. "I didn't have the mask, like you did. I... wandered, again, without L-lewin, or Grayson, or Raz... And then I remembered. About Fellwind."
She gave you a smile- an impossibly sad smile.
"I still had one friend left, I thought." She said. "But he was going to be executed... So I... tried to break him out. And the guards tried to stop me. I wasn't... wasn't in my right mind, then. After Rikar refused to work for me, I-I got Fellwind out, and he saw the... the bodies. He called me a monster. So... I was truly alone. I killed him too. W-with my own hands."
>>
>>21137381
"You poor girl, you poor poor girl. It must've hurt so much."

Hug her tighter.
>>
>>21137381
"Doesn't that just prove him right?"
>>
>>21137381
"That's..."
Hug her more
>>
>>21137401
Don't say this.
>>
"You poor girl, you poor, poor girl." You say, closing your eyes and hugging her tighter. "It must've hurt so much."
"It hurt more than anything else. More than the demons." She said. She cleared her throat, and looked up at you.
"So I made it not hurt anymore. I... cut my heart out, with sorcery. It was peaceful. For... for me. The provinces hated me, for those guards. The elves hated me, for Kiyara's death. E-everyone did. I... didn't care anymore, what they thought. I didn't... need friends, anymore. I ... tore out their hearts too. Bending their minds to my will. The entire continent was m-mine, eventually. I was... the monster queen. The Void Queen. It was... a year and a day later, when I found... something Missing. I tried... every way, to return me to myself. I broke every artifact I could find- the Fell, the.. the Shard.. Everything but Bubbles."

She looked over to the corner of the room, where the broken, still-stone bracer sat.
"I.. I scried. I found the way to return me to myself. The gearworks could do it. The Gearworks could do everything. The Gearworks was the face of god. But when I found it... I watched Tyr shatter it, in front of my eyes."

She pulled a necklace from her neck- sitting on the end of the chain was a single, brass shard of something, twisted and warped.
"That's when I... started my plan."
>>
>>21137488
Don't say anything.
>>
>>21137488
Listen, and keep petting her hair.
>>
>>21137488
Man I'm getting bad vibes from this.

Just keep listening for the time being.
>>
You don't say anything- you simply pet her hair, soothing her as best you can.

"The... the first problem was Lewin. It... he.. he was simple enough to save. Just... reshape the fireblast at the last moment. S-so I skipped that part of the plan. I just needed to be in the right spot. The.. the big problem was the wanderer." She said. "I needed to find him, and end him. I... found the mask. I scried.. scried his past. He... Gareth.."

She closed her eyes.
"I'm going to.. tell you a story." She said. "Of a young man, five hundred years ago, from what you would know of as Sirius province, before the war where the lizardmen empire was crushed, by elves and men. A young man... Gareth, son of Gariad, was.. little. A wanderer. But.. he met this girl. He loved this girl, the daughter of a wizard. He.. became the wizard's apprentice, to get close to her. How they joked, and flirted... She made a comment, about how.. how someday, Gareth would rule the world, a benevolent mage-lord, helping anyone and everyone. The.. the next day, she was dead by lizardman hands. Then were the seeds of madness planted."
>>
>>21137554
"I... think I see where this is going. You came to this... version of the world and took that girl's place."
>>
>>21137554
"Oh dear..."
>>
>>21137554
"I always felt sorry for him. He didn't even have his own name anymore. I hated him for what he did, but I pitied him more than anything else."
>>
"I... think I see where this is going. You came to this... version of the world, and took that girl's place."
"He would love me, then, and obey my commands. I ... didn't want to change things, too much, so I only needed his... sabotage, to be cancelled, and to... bring you his mask." She closed her eyes. "But I'm getting out of order."

She sighed, and closed her eyes. "The first part of the plan was to destroy the world. All of my power... it wasn't enough. I fed on the emotions... emotions of others, and that's what the afterlife was made of. I... purged it, of all power. And with that... I was able to open the void, and purge it, as well." She said. "The stars went out. There was no longer night and day. I... collected all the energy in the universe- everything, save for the cloak, the sword, and The Mind. Then I... prepared to destroy the world key. I.. didn't have enough. Enough power. I had everything, but I needed just... just a bit more. A little bit more. More than the entire universe. So I... sacrificed the one thing I had left. Sacrifices are based on what one wants, on their desires, and dreams. With... without a heart, I had only one thing left. My... ability to use the gearworks. My desire to bring my heart back. I ended the world, that un-day, that un-night, and... I broke the Mind, coming back. I drove it insane."
>>
>>21137740
Let her go on
>>
>>21137740
"You've been through so much. But you fixed things, because of you I was able to get your heart back. You sacrificed everything in order to save me, to make it better, and everything is better now."
>>
>>21137740
"You took all of that on yourself. You gave away so much of yourself to...to ensure that I, we, had a happy ending?"
>>
"You took all of that on yourself. You gave away so much of yourself to... to ensure that I, we, had a happy ending?"
"No." She responded. "I... didn't care about you. Or me. Only the gearworks. Only to return my heart. And for that... for that I needed you sane. Normal. Happy. So that... you could use the gearworks. You could bring me me back. But... things were missing. The key, the gear. If you got the box, you wouldn't be able to... to open it, and without that one lost gear, in the minotaur lands... you would never get it to activate properly."
She met your eyes again, and hugged you even tighter.
"So I planned to open the portal. But... I needed to know about portals, to do that. I needed.. Ragnarok."
She shook her head, and hugged you even tighter.

>Field too long!
>>
"I arrived five hundred years ago." She said. "My.. plan had worked. I laid an enchantment on Gareth, to make his love me, and then.. I turned myself to stone, using what little was left of The Mind's shattered psyche. I came awake, and saved Lewin. Released the scrying wards on the mask. Found Gareth when he was going to... sabotage Jormungandr, but I was able to talk... to talk him into killing Ragnarok instead, convincing him he could use The Mind to destroy the ship, later. You... killed him, and that's when our worlds split, in truth. I made Ragnarok my minion, and took his knowledge and body, mercilessly. I opened the portal to the minotaur lands. I arrived in your dreams. I led you to the gearworks. And.. I tried to kill Tyr. I'm... I spent most of that time asleep. In stone. Stopped."

She spared another glance to the broken petrified bracer. "I... I destroyed the world only a month ago. And.. and now we're here."
>>
>>21137886
"I forgive you. For everything, I forgive you. Now I ask that you make a new start."
>>

"It all worked. The world is safe. With the exception of Ghujj, who is still with me in a way due to soulfire, everyone is still alive or close enough in Aeriel's case.

The world is better now. I forgive you for everything you did.

You give her a tighter hug. "Do you want some tea? Or food, come to think of it."
"Y-yes please." She said. "I.. don't need to eat food or water, or sleep... I learned to eat magic instead, but it... it sounds good right now."

You make your way out of the vault, and make the best tea you possibly could, complete with the world's largest sandwich. By the time you get back, complete with tray, you find her hugging herself, staring down at the ground.
"T-thank you." She said, and immediately took the largest bite physically possible as she devoured the food and tea, with almost no sense of decorum.

It was something we discussed yesterday, just in case she went a little crazy with guilt or sadness.

"When you said that you sacrificed your ability to use the gearworks, did you sacrifice your sorcery or is there some... metamagical attribute that allowed us to use it?"
"Our identity." She said. "We all have titles. Friend, daughter, queen, lover... I gave up the only title that allowed me to use the Gearworks. I have sorcery... but I am not a sorceress."
"Hmm... should I still call you Dras? I mean, you are me, so..."
"... I should change my form." She said, suddenly. "To... not look like you. But... I'll worry about that, and a proper name, later."

She took another large bite of food.
"You feeling a bit better? I find things are always better after some food and tea." You say, and she nods.
"And no sleep, that just isn't good for you, even with magic. I insist that after you get more food into you that you take a nap."
"I... okay." She said, her cheek bulging with sandwich.

"Good. I would have disliked having to use the tone of authority on myself.

Would you like to see Father before you go to bed?"

"Well, I don't really mind, but... I suppose you're right. It could cause... confusion. Not changing how you look, I mean."

She gave her tea a sip, and you notice that, despite the lack of decorum she otherwise had... she was still sticking her pinkie out.

"I... don't think that's a good idea." She said, finally. "I'm... going to change it. Just the hair, and the basic... face structure."
"Did you know mother at all in your timeline?"
"No, our timelines were the same, except for the wanderer." She said. "Except what I... changed.
She closed her eyes for a moment, and took a long drought of the tea.
"This.. this is good." She said, giving you the smallest of smiles, before her face went back neutral.

"I... stole this, back when you gave everyone the silver ones. I'm sorry."

"Wait." You say, and the two of them stop. You tear another silver ring out of your inventory, and you put it in her palm.
"... Thank you." She said, and put it on. Her hand constantly on Grayson's head, they made their way out of the vault. You approach the World Key, and pick it up, ready to take it back. You close and seal the vault, before closing the secret passage, and making your way up and out of the dungeons, looking for Aeriel.

"Ishelda." He said, giving you a wave. He was leaning back against the wall, his wings twitching, as he watched your father and Redglare dueling again. "I'm guessing you were looking for me?"
>>
>>21138864
"Yes. Can you open a portal to the cathedral so I can give this back?"
>>
"Yes." You say. "Can you open a portal to the cathedral so I can give this back?"
"Certainly." He said. He closed his eyes, and then lowered his beak to the ground, and slowly spread his arms. As he did so, a large, oval portal appeared in front of him. Quickly, you stepped through- and out into the cathedral. The healer, who was leaning back and drinking a mug of swamp brew, suddenly jumped and choked as he slid the swamp brew behind a bew.

"Why, um, hello!" He said. "Were you the young lady who borrowed the World Key?"

"Of course." He said, nodding and taking the World Key. "Karkus has never lent it out before. I just thought I should mention that. Take care, missus." He said, and bowed to you. He quickly started climbing up to the bell with it, and you shrugged, and stepped back through the portal.

"That it, then?" Aeriel asked, and you nodded. You see that Redglare was chuckling, holding your father in a headlock, their weapons sitting on the ground. Your father started chuckling back, and the two of them started wrestling.
"Good to hear." He said.

>>
>>21139206

>>
>>21139221
Well no, but we need to check up on people we haven't seen for ages like Azariel and Marigold. And we need to call that meeting and tell everyone what happened. I'd say they were both higher priority than sitting down and building golems.
>>
You wander off to try and find Treechild, walking from room to room of the castle, and then you see Lewin creep into a certain guest room.
As you approach, you hear the jingling of chains.
"I... thought she meant the suggestion as a joke." Lewin said.
"Joke or not, It was a good idea." Treechild responded.
You start to step into the room, and you see Treechild pull Lewin close to her, kissing him, her leg wrapping around him. Neither of them seem to notice you. as you step out of the room, closing the door behind you. You can... thank her later, you decide.

Instead, you make your way to Kristoph's room, where he was lying, his armor piled into a corner of the room. Marigold was sitting at the foot of his bed, gently sponging his forehead.
"He hasn't awoken yet." She said, a rather worried tone in her voice as she noticed you step in. "And he can't really be magically healed..."

"I did a lot of things. But having Aeriel meant I didn't have to spend days flying around."
>>
>>21139349
"Yes well, Aeriel is good. Thanks to him I managed to turn down godhood, speak with Tyr, kill a powerhungry Blood Mage Elf which also gave our local friendly neighbourhood western elves a stronghold there among other things."

Give her the rundown.

Also when we have the chance. Take a look at Grayson's mind, and compare it to that little snake girl. Not now of course, but just throwing the idea out there.
>>
"Yes well, Aeriel is good." You say. "Thanks to him, I managed to turn down godhood, speak with Tyr, kill a powerhungry Blood Mage Elf which also gave our local friendly neighbourhood western elves a stronghold there among other things."
"Ya' killed 'em?" Kristoph mumbled, an eye opening. "Good."
"Kristoph!" Marigold said, grinning down at him. "How are you feeling?"
"Upset that I got knocked out and missed everything fun." He grumbled, and started to sit up.
"Nuh uh." Marigold said. "You were poisoned. So what that means is you need rest, and food."
"... Right, right." He responded, as Marigold served him up some 'breakfast in bed', which she'd had pre-prepared. "This.. isn't a bad way to wake up, in truth." He said, and then glanced at you. "Sorry I wasn't any use, my lady."
>>
>>21139433
"It was my fault for not being more cautious. I am sorry you got injured."

>>21139433
"It was his fault, not yours. You're still one of my three best knights, alongside Grayson and Rikar."
>>
>>21139433
It's quite alright Kristoph, in truth the situation was probably my fault for not using a truth spell on him during our first meeting.
>>
>>21139433
"You were useful. If you weren't there he wouldn't have had to get you out of the way before activating his trap. I'm sorry I told you to get the door. I should have been more careful. It's my fault you got knocked out."
>>
>>21139433
"It happens to the best of us, Kris. Don't worry about it too much."
>>
No, it was my fault for walking us into a trap. I am not sure why I did it, in hindsight it was obvious.
>>
>>21139433
"Not at all. You're so useful that the elf wouldn't dare even attempt to attack me until you were put down. He was terrified of your greatness."
>>
>>21139433
"It was my call to go into the tower. You can only do as well as the leader can lead. For that, I'm sorry."
>>
"Not at all." You say. "You were so useful that the elf wouldn't dare even attempt to attack me until you were put down. He was terrified of your greatness."
"What she said." Marigold added.
Kristoph chuckled, and closed his eyes again. "Well, that's good to hear. I probably am rather imposing to mages, most likely."
>>
>>21139531
"Very."
<Well, Mar, I don't think he's in a state where you could drag him to your room, but this room is almost as good, no?>
>>
>>21139531
"You are. You did the best you could have, it was my fault telling you to turn your back on him..."
>>
>>21139531
"Indeed you are. Well I'll better give the two of you some alone-time. Get well soon Kris."

Then go and check on the progress that the elves make at Theussiel's tower.
>>
"You are." You say. "You did the best you could have. It was my fault telling you to turn your back on him."
"I know." He said, and gave you a chuckle. "I would've scolded you if I ended up dead, you know."
"Well, I'd better give the two of you some alone-time." You say. "Get well soon, Kris."
"I hope I do." He said, and laid his hand over his heart. "Take care."
<Well, Mar, I don't think he's in a state where you could drag him to your room, but this room is almost as good, no?> You ask, giving her a sly grin. Marigold's cheeks go red, and you leave the room.
You consider talking to Kyvann, but it's been less than a day since you've gotten back, so it's not likely that Kyvann made any progress with the elves in the east. There are, however, some more things you could do, or people to talk to...

You make your way down to the small cubby-space off to the side of the cistern, where Raziel had kept the circle, and once you go down there, you see that it's filled with feathers. Zeke, Raziel, Dariel, Neiriel, and Cassiel are all in there, while Azariel was leaning back against one of the walls, strangely too... Real to be a spectre, and perfectly wingless. The crack in his beak seemed to glow the same green as his eyes, and he was singing in kalak as you approached.
"Ishelda." He said, and gave you a wink. "Welcome back. I trust you found that spellbook useful?"
>>
>>21139730
"I did. I also learned what you've been up to in the afterlife.
Since you're here, I assume you were successful."
>>
>>21139730
"I did! We rescued the survivors from Arcturus. Did you win your fight?"
>>
>>21139730
"Very. I got my father and a great deal of survivors back. I've heard that you've been busy, with the deicide and all that."
>>
>>21139730
Well to be honest I've only cast one or two things from it, but yes, it really was.

Hug the ghost!

I had heard you were having trouble in the afterlife.
>>
>>21139764
Oh dear, I just realised that abel and azariel have to meet at some point. That's going to be awkward.
>>
>>21139730
"It was most useful, yes. Merlin had included a spell to open a portal back to Arcturus, which Aeriel cast, and we evacuated the survivors of the demons' attacks."
>>
>>21139730
"Beyond what you can imagine. Truly thank you for it.

But I've heard what you were up to. So...since you're here I take it was successful? Or perhaps you missed them too much."
>>
>>21139792
Why is that going to be awkward?
>>
"I did! We rescued the survivors from Arcturus." You say, and give him a smile and a hug. "I've heard that you've been busy, with the deicide and all that."
"Deicide? Hahaha, no, not at all." He said. "I was just trying to keep my... ally from being killed. And I did, and they're no longer fighting. Mostly because I... claimed something, a few days ago. Some strange energy burst into the afterlife, and I claimed enough of it to drastically weaken our opponent. He stopped trying to kill my ally, and the three of us settled the veil between worlds. Things are calm, now."

>>21139814
"What was the reaperman like?"

>>
>>21139814
"Oh. That must have been The Gearworks' stored... energy being released."
>>
"Did you ascend to godhood?"
"No, no, of course not." He said. "Just enough power that I'm technically a wraith, no matter how thick the veil is. An incredibly powerful wraith... but here, I'm weaker than a normal living being."
"Ah, I think that was when I destroyed the Gearworks. It was taking magic from everywhere, you know."
"Really? Interesting." He said.
"So... what happened to your wings?"
"Oh, I had to escape my opponent while delivering your message." He said. "He caught ahold of my wings."
>>
>>21139814
Did it occur at approximately the same time as the destruction of the gearworks?
>>
>>21139814
I had the gearworks destroy itself, that was probably the cause. Does this mean you are a god now?

"Can't you fix them?"
"I could, but I don't want to waste my energy. There's no such thing as gravity on the other side of the veil, so don't worry about it. I don't need to fly."
"Does magic healing help?"
"Only if you're dead too." He said. "Healing magic doesn't work properly on us." He chuckled, and shrugged. "Except Cassiel."
"... I thought they'd grow back..." You say, and stretch up on your tiptoes to boop his beak. He chuckles. "So, what did I interrupt?"
"Homecoming!" Raziel cried, and pulled Dariel, you, and Azariel into a large hug. "This is one of those impromptu reunion things that happen. Vithriel called on the ring a few minutes ago to say he's coming on a boat. We're going to move to Sardriel's quarters eventually. Cassiel keeps arguing that Aeriel and Gehenna should be able to join us..."
"But Kaliel doesn't seem interested in coming." Dariel said.

Suddenly, Azariel leans down to boop your nose with one of his knuckles.
"You're invited too." He said. "You're as much family as anyone."
"Thank you." You say. "I'll go convince her."
"Good luck." Dariel said.

You make your way out of the cistern and check her workshop, but.. she doesn't seem to be there. Next, you check your bedroom and cabin, but she's gone from there, too. You key your ring, and feel for her... and you find her in Azariel's tower, to the north, staring blindly out of a window, piles of books below her.

Grab her boobs from behind
>>
You step outside and close your eyes, bringing forth your magic. Your form twists, once again, and wings burst free from your back. By now, you're quite used to your kalak form. You spread your wings, and launch into the air, as the end of the day's sunlight brings you a swell of thermals, letting you soar steadily upward. The sun slowly starts to finish it's arc across the sky as you fly to Azariel's tower. By the time you finally get there, Kaliel is cowering in the dark, a light spell in her hand as she reads... a divination book, it looks like. Strewn across the ground is abjuration, healing, alchemy, metamagic theory, Concepts.... Every book the other kalak didn't bring with them, and didn't find useful. She didn't seem to notice you, so engrossed into her reading.

Sneak up on her, and grab some squishy arts of her anatomy

You lick your lips... and then whistle, the exact same noise that Raziel had made. Kaliel's name in kalak.

Her head darts up, and she starts to respond in the same language... and then meets your eyes.
"Ishelda." She said, and gave you a wide smile.

Her eyes were red... but not the brilliant red you so remember, like freshly spilled blood, but... darker. Congealed.

"Kal? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." She said. "Just seeing if I can learn more about all of this. I'll probably never actually get to cast most of these spells, but the theory behind each discipline helps."
She got to her feet, and stretched.

You walk over to her and hug her.
"Azariel's back, they're having a homecoming." You say. "You don't want to go?"
"Nah, all that's going to happen is that Vithriel will try and stuff dariel full of swamp brew, Zeke and Cassiel is going to get into an argument and blow something up accidentally, and Sardriel will try and butter up Azariel to get things from him." She said, and shrugged. "I'm not very interested in it."
"What have you been working so diligently on?"
"This and that." She said. "Mala's book needs a lot more knowledge in other schools than I thought it would, so I'm mostly reading for that."

"I talked with Dras, by the way. Turns out I was right about her. She's an alternate timeline version of myself."

Leaning against you, she started scratching the base of your wings, digging her fingernails in. It made your skin crawl, like she was preening you.

"I think I still need that reward from getting you the portal spell." You say, and she giggles, increasing the speed of her massage.
"Well... if you say so." She said, still grinning. "You stay in kalak form, okay?"

You climb up off of Kaliel's old pile of pillows, as she fastens her clothing back on, and dons the cloak once again. You feel... much, much too comfortable to get to your feet, your feathers still tingling.

You give him a look- his tailfeathers were a bit shorter than Zeke's, but his crest was a bit larger... but his plumage was rather strange. It was mostly dark, but in the spots with certain light and angles, it shined into green.
Kaliel nudged you with your elbow.
<Don't be oogling him.> She said, teasingly. She still looked... smug, from earlier.
"How are you all doing? You didn't have any fun without me, right?"
"Well, we had the world's largest, most comprehensive tea party." Sardriel said, getting to his feet. "Dariel, I enjoy swamp brew but I'm an oddity. It'll taste horrible, make you feel strange, and you'll have a very interesting conversation with the floor."
"I'll, um, keep that in mind." He said.
<Hey, Kal, why did you shift me back to human for a kalak party?>
<Well, um,> She said. <I... think you're prettier as a human.>
>>
>>21141922
<That's adorable. You're pretty no matter what form you take.>

"I want to let all of you who don't already live here to know that you're always welcome in New Arcturus.

In addition there's a serious piece of news that you should all be made aware of. There are still Kalak left on your home world, they moved underground to hide themselves."

Shit left to do, plotwise. Maybe
>Rescue mission to Kalak world
>Visit Arakoata (I know I spelled it wrong) world
>Acclimate Dras'
>Become immortal (Possibly in the epilogue)
>>
There are some loose ends, like why doesn't little snake girl have a mind. Personally I want to compare what we found to Grayson, see if they're similar.
>>
I want to go and talk to Mala again. Ask her if when the magic balance is restored in a century or two she could use her magic to bring dragons back.
>>
>There are still some loose ends to wrap up.

<I'm not pretty as a kalak?> You ask. <Raziel likes my kalak form...>
<No, you are pretty as a kalak.> She said quickly. <Sexy, even. Just... *more* attractive, um, in human form.>
<That's adorable. You're pretty no matter what form you take.> You say.
<Aww.> She said, and tightened her hold on your hand.
"I want to let all of you who don't already live here to know that you're always welcome in New Arcturus." You say.
"So us who already live in New Arcturus *aren't* always welcome?" Sardiel asked, and laughed.
"In addition, there's a serious piece of news that you should all be made aware of. There are... still Kalak left on your home world. They moved underground to hide themselves."
There was silence, for a moment, and Neiriel breathed a sigh of relief while Dariel cheered.
"So.. we're not extinct." Neiriel said. "Wonderful news."
"Yes, wonderful." Azariel said, smiling. "Of course, I can't go back, but if any of you want to go move there, I won't stop you. It is your hereditary home, after all..."
"Don't be stupid, old man." Vithriel said, and Azariel froze. "Our hereditary home, of course, is that tower you built with your own hands."
"Of course." Raziel added.
"Finally, Vith speaks sense." Neiriel said.
"Yep." Cassiel said.
>>
>>21142059
>Arakoatoa
You were close bro.
>>
>>21142133
Be silent, for the moment. When their sappy moment is over...

"So. Who'd like to prepare a rescue mission? With the Gearworks in pieces, the demons are going to be less starved for magic, easy to mop up and possibly regaining their sanity. It should be a cakewalk to save those Kalak remaining, compared to the march into Old Arcturus, and they're no doubt tired of the dank, dusty underworld by now."
>>
>>21142133
"I know that this is your home now, but I figured you ought to know.

A week or two ago I would already be gathering up an army if I knew this. But certain information has come to light, with the destruction of the Gearworks the demons are going to die out, go insane, kill themselves over guilt. Honestly we could probably wait and rescue them, given how long they've lasted they aren't likely to be in any real danger."
>>
>>21142133
"Me and Kal are going to visit some time, so if anyone wants to come along they can. It should be interesting."
>>
>>21142133
"I'm hoping to go on a rescue mission there, like I did with Arcturus."
>>
Is it really a rescue when there's chance nobody wants come?

I mean they've been underground for god knows how long. They very well might consider the demons as nothing more than background noise at this point.
>>
>>21142262
We could at least get rid of the demons for them, or at least help and offer aid and assistance.
No one has to come, just make the offer.
>>
>>21142218
Let's not say this, and let's not wait, we don't know how long it will take for the demons to return to normal. We need to scry the area to see their situation.
>>

Honestly, we could probably wait and rescue them. Given how long they've lasted, they aren't likely to be in any real danger."
"It has been five hundred years, by now." Azariel said. "If they're still alive now, they're not in enough danger to need rescue."
"Me and Kal are going to visit some time, so if anyone wants to come along, they can. It should be interesting."
"I'll come." Cassiel said.
"If he's coming, I will too." Zeke said. "Hopefully before the demons themselves are dead, because then I'll finally get to use my spell." He said.
"Be quiet about your new spell." Cassiel chuckled. "That thing's nothing to the Force Shield."
"No, it's more powerful than the force shield." Zeke said.
"How? It's a force spell, and the abjuration in the shield redirects all of the power. All of it, not most of it."
Kaliel tapped her temple. "You two can argue about that later." She said.

Under ~700 years, because Azariel lived through most of it as an adult. Enough time for Eidolon's family to no longer even know they're descended from him, so several elvish generations. About 5-600 years, I'd say.

"You two, stop bickering about spells. I swear, you're worse than my knights comparing swords." You say.
"Um..." Raziel said. "You only have two knights, and one of them is a bear."
"A tiger, now." Kaliel said.
"A tiger, even." Raziel said.
"I think a dance is in order." You say. "We don't really need instrumental accompaniment with all of you singing."
"Ohhh, there once was a girl from~" Vithriel started singing, in a low voice.
Neiriel's feathers bristled, and Vith took a step away from her and stopped singing.
"Right, right. No limericks." He said.
<I forgot to mention that those two hated eachother.> Kaliel said. <I've never heard the end of that, though, and he only sings it when she's there.>
You give her a grin, and then turn to Zeke.
"Well, okay." Zeke said. He cleared his throat, and then started tweeting. Behind him, Raziel and Cassiel joined in, singing. Through the ring, Kaliel started translating it for you- It was a song about the violet sun, peeking through the clouds after a long rain. About clear skies.
You turn to Azariel.
"May I have this dance?" You ask.
The wraith chuckles, and then holds out his talons.
"You may." He said.

Somewhere between none and all of them, unless you're an eldritch abomination from beyond the universe, in which case it's somewhere between all of them and negative all of them. Maybe both all of them *and* negative all of them.

Not really. We could have just asked Azariel IC whether those breeds are still hated. Which we kind of still have to do anyway if we're actually going to use the form.

How did Dras get to the other bad ends?
>>
>>21142646
I'm curious here too, was Dras'lea travelling back numerious times every time we fucked up, or did she just go back once?
>>
>>21142663
She said she went back once, to about 500 years ago.
She turned herself to stone for a bit, then intervened when she knew something was going to go wrong.
>>
>>21142646
>Azariel IC
Well, he has no idea what's been going on there for the past five hundred years.

>>21142646
>>21142663
>Dras and the other bad ends
She wasn't there. The bad ends weren't canon. She only went back the one time. Although, if she failed with getting her emotions back, she would have tried to escape and destroy the world again, to try again.
>>
>>21142663
She could have only destroyed the world key once, because then she had nothing left to sacrifice. And no amount of magic power lets you travel between universes.
>>
>>21142680
>she would have tried to escape
Would the vault wards let her pass because she's us? Or is she different enough, or did Cass specifically tie them to us us and not any other usses, or what?
>>
>>21142719
She's different enough that the wards would still lock her in. She'd have to be freed in order to escape properly, or simply break through, which is rather difficult- even for a 'person who has sorcery'.
>>
>>21142751
Just call her a sorceress, jeez. We call Mala a dragon. By the way, what does Mala's name mean? Mala'mala was the scaly pet, and it seems odd for a dragon to put 'scaly' in their child's name when they're all fucking scaly.
>>
>>21142805
It probably meant 'shining scales' or something equally ironic.
>>
On the heels of charming dragons

>>
>>21142805
Mala'khairos roughly means 'she who conquered her flesh'. she actually changed her name to that when she became a not-dragon. Not all names have only one meaning, though, because draconian language is completely stupid and not thought out at all because I'm not a linguist.
>>
>>21142852
>Not all names have only one meaning, though, because draconian language is completely stupid and not thought out at all because I'm not a linguist.
Makes sense for 'flesh' and 'scales' to be the same thing for a dragon. And then the other bit would be the conquering. Mala'khairos, Skin-conqueror.
So what was her original name?
>>

Hey Exa, I just wanted to chime in and say that I really enjoy your quests, I have been reading SORQ and NFCQ over the past few days and I am currently reading SCQ. I really like your writing and your characters.
If I was not in GMT+1 I would follow your threads more often, as currently it is 3:30 around here.

You can still catch most of the thread. 20:00 until whenever you go to bed. For the Americans it starts at 14:00 so anyone who actually has a job/uni/school misses the start. You'd have to live in the middle of the ocean somewhere for the whole thing to fit into a convenient time.

>>21143091
>and did not lead to an interesting story later on
That's not fair. All his stories are interesting so no matter how much he screws up it wouldn't count by that metric.
Dani destroying the supercomputer was kind of major. The Azure merge vote was majorly fucked up. He does seem to fuck up more than most quest authors. But that's probably just because he makes way more threads than them. I still don't get how he does this every day.
>>
>>21143257
He runs on keyboard clicks and coffee. and delicious /tg/ brand tears... no wait this isn't Monster Girls Quest.
>>
>>21143341
Man, I'm unemployed and I still don't manage to turn up every single day. And he has to take additional time to prepare for the threads as well.

>>21143388
>prepare
ahahahahaha
ahahahahahahahahahahaha
>>
>>21143257
Neither do I get how I does it daily, I am however very glad that it is that way.
And the metric is entirely fair, at least looking back at it without having participated. I have just read past the point in SCQ where Dave decided it would be a good decision to lick delicious exotic matter, and so far I actually prefer the lack of quantum computers, if only because it makes Smokey more menacing without having to resort to an additional level of upscaling of all involved parties. Just imagine how ludicrously outclassed everyone without a quantum computer would have been if Dave had one. But that is of course from the perspective of the passive reader, as I did not participate in the quest. (I do not think I know enough about the consequences of the merge to give an educated opinion yet)

We spiraled off the rails during the Tyr confrontation. Then we pulled a Dave and used ALL OF THE MECHADENDTIRES to land safely.

You're right, rereading my post somehow I did not say what I tried to get across. What I tried to say is that as far as I can tell the choices offered are always between two interesting options. The choices are not: a) Lick Butt b) Do totally Awesome stuff where it would be a real shame if he fucked up and chose A instead of B. As a result of that, if/when he fucks up there is still a good story to be had and at least I can easily say "Oh well, he miscounted/did not refresh properly/fucked up, but it's not the end of the world" without being butthurt about it. I hope this clears it up. (And yes, I see and agree that it is probably much harder to deal with fuck ups as a reader if you are also an active participant in the quest and not reading the finished works in the archive, where it obviously is much closer to a book)

God I hate my Internet, this took me quarter an hour to post
>>
>>21143953
>What I tried to say is that as far as I can tell the choices offered are always between two interesting options.
Yes. As I said in >>21143257 all his options are interesting so if you take that as a metric he never fucks up.

Because he's a good writer, both choices lead to interesting story. But also because he's a good writer, you don't give a fuck how interesting it is if he just screwed up and picked the choice that killed your favourite character or something (that's just an example of course, characters never die because we can just go 'lol fate point' whenever we screw up). Because you care about the story and want it to go the way you voted. Obviously you don't get that reading through the archives because you never had a choice anyway so it's not frustrating to have the choice taken away.
If I'm reading something like MSQ and he screws up and licks somebody's butt that's the situation in which I go 'oh well, it's not the end of the world', because I don't really care which way it goes. When Exabyte screws up I get butthurt about it.
>>
>>21144179
I see what you mean. Goes to show how different the perception of the story is between directly participating and reading the archives.
