THIS QUEST IS NEWBIE FRIENDLY

This plot summary:

Will get you caught up without having to read the archives, though for those interested in the long version, the archive can be found here:

It's also worth noting that the map is now out of date, as the Goblin Gang has been swallowed up by the Iron Guard and the Ronin. It'd be cool if someone could make a new one.

Oh, wow, that line actually needs to be removed from my copy/paste entirely, because the map totally did get updated. I need to pay more attention to my copy/pastes.

Good to know. Plan for Kestral:
Get her opinion on the Damio's plan for Chimera via steve stress the following things:
1. End of endless Stalkers-hounds violence
2. Deny Asreal whatever powerbase he has with the Espada
3. Get Chimera out of our city and, if they call in enough of their international supers once they start to see the writing on the wall we can deal some serious damage to them on an international scale, especially if we get our hands on the Aggressor and Logistics' computer files. If they don't, we get an easy win.
4. The Steve stimulus plan. (we take all of Chimera's old territory, swapping for our goblin haunts with the Ronin and put down businesses and bring everything up to robbery).
If she work with us by keeping team blue on the plan of Chimera first us second we'll have a clear field. And we might get the Seduction of the innocent perk.

Sofia is in her apartment, scrolling through Netflix with half-glazed eyes, while Steve is printing out some files for her from the flash drive he brought over. "Okay," Steve says, the last file churning out of the printer, "this is basically our grand strategy for the city as a whole."

Kestrel takes the files as Steve walks over to the couch, sitting down next to her. "Okay," Kestrel says, glancing through them, "why are you handing off half the city to the Ronin?"

"Because the alternative is fighting another turf war," Steve says, "the main point of all this is to put a stop to those."

"Okay, sure, but you're leaving out the last part of this plan," Kestrel says, "the part where Team Red wins and goes all Illuminati on the local government. Okata's going to be running half a shadow government, he's not a nice guy. He might not rely on it, but he's no stranger to the human trafficking industry, trust me, I've seen it."
>>
Also, I have a twitter feed for showing when the game is on, since I've gotten so bad at maintaining my "14:00 daily" schedule that most people have probably forgotten that I'm supposed to have a schedule at all. Unfortunately, since I'm not big on inane updates about my daily life, I've never used twitter before, and I'm not sure how to link the feed or anything. If anyone knows how twitter works and can tell me what to do now that I have an account and am making tweets, that'd be cool.
>>
>>21182600
Okay first step: Tell us the name, then second just link to the thread via twitter.
You can also give us wicked updates if your going to be late or something.

Also: Okata bot, yay or nay? we could take the city and then have a party, swap him for the bot and gradually have Okabot give up more and more land to use over the space of a year.

"The plan for dealing with the Damio is simple. He's reckless and impulsive and doesn't know how to quit. If he acts up my dad can handle him easily. He has no anti ghost defenses, so my dad can slip you enough information to take him down whenever he wants. Plus, the guy's obsessed with honor, the first time we have a disagreement Dad plans to challenge him to a duel over it. No way the Damio will back down to that." (Am I reading the Damio's character right in that he would never back down from that sort of challenge? Especially from a behind the scenes manipulator like us?)
>>
>>21182634
not a bot, but instead we kill him, fix the body and then possess him. If it ever got out that we replaced him with a bot no one would ever work with us again. Then we arrange for him to have a convenient "accident" after we have inhabited the body for a while.
>>
>>21182634

The username I'm using is IronMaster because, but the actual tag is @MCJohnnyQuest, and since the first one can be changed whenever I assume it's the second one that's actually important.

>>21182659

"Okay," Kestrel says, "I still don't like handing that guy half the city, even if it's only temporarily, but okay."

"There's also something else," Steve says, "we need to figure out what to do about your father and Dandurand."

"Right..." Kestrel says, glancing away from him.
>>
>>21183012
Sounds a bit to ruthless to get Kestral on our side. Better to just tell her that if he gets out of line, we can give her the information, and the powers, to take him down. Plus, I always figured our governing philosophy would be "don't screw with us, we won't screw with you."
>>
"We can't just let them hang out building robot armies underground forever," Steve says, "regardless of intentions, they started a war, caused a super brawl, and they've got a reactor that's threatening to blow up God knows how much of the city if something goes wrong."

"Doesn't your dad's ghost phone thing run off nuclear power?" Kestrel asks.

"Half of Japan runs on nuclear power," Steve says, "so unless LA gets ripped apart by some kind of natural mega-disaster, it's really not a big deal."

"The San Andreas faultline isn't that far away from here," Kestrel says.

"So yeah, if a natural disaster happens people will die. That sucks, but it's not exactly news," Steve says, "the reactor under the city could go off just because. I mean, they're trying to play it safe, but it's untested technology, they don't really know if their failsafes will hold."

"Well...We can't just ask him to give it up and go home," Kestrel says, "he's got no job to go back to and plus, the police are going to have some questions as to why he disappeared. It doesn't help that he used to work at EdenTech. The only reason he agreed in the first place was...Because he thought I was dead. Now he's sort of past the point of no return."

"He can come work with us," Steve says, "we're not exactly strangers to sheltering former EdenTech employees."

"I don't think he'd agree to it," Kestrel says, "he doesn't trust you. At all."

"So what are we supposed to do about him?" Steve says.

"...I dunno," Kestrel says.

"Hey, my dad has known where your dad is for weeks, he doesn't want to hurt either of them. He's not going to do anything to ruin them." Maybe we can create a new tech company (or more likely, covertly take over an old one) that talent scouts them, and does completely legitimate stuff. Stuff like minor version of enhanced strength to counter muscular degeneration, advanced robot limbs to go into the prosthetic market, stuff like that.
>>
>>21183120
"You dont trust me. Yet you work 'with' me. The doctor's working with me now only do so as they can continue their work, without criminal reprisal, or rather, protection from that.
...
Dont arrest my science team."
>>
>>21183442
For the love of god, don't say this.
>>
>>21183480

Do you plan on saying something else?
>>
>>21183514
yeah, this:
>>21183153
Ruin his lab, let him "escape" have a tech company we indirectly control offer him totally legitimate work. Using his talents to not blow things up. Especially our things
>>
>>21183558

Okay. In that case, you are out of actions now so I will go ahead and roll over to the next turn. One minute while I sort that out.
>>
Over the week, the Family makes an official statement through Whisper that whoever's hired Dead Eye on Julio, it wasn't them. Chimera says the same thing. Chimera also begins sending out patrols in the tunnels beneath Compton and Eastside, though in the latter they pull their patrols back after Asrael incinerates one.

Meanwhile, Bouncer is finally broken out of the Catalina Towers. He claims to have escaped on his own, but rumor has it that someone helped him, though that does raise the question as to who it might have been. Regardless, his time in the Towers has apparently given him plenty of time to cultivate delusions of grandeur, as he's declared himself the leader of the Hounds and decided he's going to have all of Compton to himself. The place was already borderline lawless and now chunks of the area have become war zones, with gangs shooting at each other in the streets and police typically taking thirty minutes or more to respond. The general increase in violent crime as drive-by shootings, street fights, and attacks on gang hideouts become more and more common has led to a general increase in crime and civil unrest in the area, which has become a growing concern for the city.

There is also a new event on the subject:

Turf War
Objective: Bring Compton under the control of a single gang, defeat Bouncer
Reward: 4 XP

Is there any set that is worth subverting there? Because if so, we should grab it this turn, then blitz next. In the meantime, what tech company could we conceivably take over quietly and then hire the two doctors?
>>
Meanwhile, Whisper has the results for you on that spike. His contacts inform him that the runic script on the spike is indeed from a magical language which, if inscribed properly, could grant any of a wide variety of different effects. Typically when inscribed on a spike like this, it's a charm or enchantment that identifies its target by their blood. Prick your finger on the tip and you might be protected, scried upon by the creator, gain super powers, lose super powers, fall in love with the creator, the next person you see, or the next person to donate blood to the thing, or you might just be killed instantly. It'll depend on what exactly the runes say...But these ones are gibberish. They confer no magical effect whatsoever. The translated runes are like one of those t-shirts with totally random nonsense English phrases on them you see in east Asia sometimes.

Neither Hounds nor Stalkers have any particular unique sets as far as you know (Rica scouted them a while ago, but there's several sets she doesn't know about, so it's possible they have unique sets and you just haven't investigated them). As far as tech companies, since the rules for corporations were such a late addition, there aren't any tech companies in the actual mechanics. In terms of narrative, there are over 300 existent tech companies in Los Angeles County, and sorting through all of them would take a really, really long time, particularly since it's hard to find any sort of list that would let me glance over them in a hurry.

ghost them. Learn whats going on.
>>
>>21184019
I say IM try to setup a tech company if possible,
Maybe get Rica to try to recruit some of the smaller gangs of Comption into the Iron Legion. We have wealth, power, tech and a cool uniform. Much better than small time bullshit.
>>
>>21184065

What's going on is that Compton is the near-lawless posterchild of urban decay and people are getting shot lots. Your ghosts, being just random dudes, don't have the expertise to give you tactical details, and there's not really any organization to spy on here. The Hounds and Stalkers are stepping up their usual ambient warfare into all-out attacks on each other, but that isn't something you couldn't have learned from the local news.
>>
>>21184077

I...Guess we're going with this, then?
>>
>>21184444
>>21184077
Sorry having a hell of a time posting. Just chose a random tech company that could legitimatly want the doctors talents, then take it over. Have rica bribe a set in compton over to our side and back to its former strenght. Have it fake for one week. Then talk to the damio about the artifical supers.
>>
>>21184444
Its the only other idea, im figuring the badass bitch from the wrong side of the tracks is gonna be wicked good at uniting these lawless bastards under one banner.
>>
>>21184557

Right. Rica yoinks the New Mafia Stalkers, and the IM takes over a company called Telemme.

Iron Master reinforces morale of our new stalkers by possessing one of them and giving a tactically awesome speech.
>>
>>21184943
no, we dont want anyone to know we can do that
>>
>>21185816
We're going to be the stalker, not the iron master? Why'd you think that?
>>
>>21185963
not the other anon, but he will have to die immediately afterwords, kinda defeats the purpose of the rousing speech.
>>
I'm back, but since my audience is usually gone by now I'll just mention that if you possess a Stalker and then unpossess him, he will remember being possessed. Plus, you'd have to make multiple attempts until you got lucky on one, since they automatically resist possession (particularly since they don't even know you can do that).
>>
Rolled 77

>>21187332
no survivors of possession new rule?
so know one finds out.
>>
>>21187416

That's not really new.
