"The gods are dead, the ones of my youth are anyway. It's the plain, simple truth I watched them kill one another. They went to war and laid waste to the world and we mortals are left to live in the ashes. Back then the eternal war between Good and Evil seemed so important. If I'd known what we were going to unleash I'd have never have become a mage."
Elder Vrash, one of the last survivors of the Deus War.

----

Okay this is mage quest! In it we will be playing a Mage who lives on a world ruined by a war between the gods. We are a human but our power comes from somewhere, where does it come from?

A: Demonic Blood Line, Affinity for curses, and hexes, as well as binding outsiders.
B; Celestial Blood Line, Affinity for healing magic and buffs, as well as banishing outsiders.
C: Elemental Blood Line, Affinity for spells dealing with the appropiate element (earth, fire, water, air) and control of those elementals.
D: Draconic Blood Line Affinity for Illusions, Transmutation and Charming spells.

so aside from spell affinty what do these bloodlines do?

Alright, you can channel the elemental forces of fire and air, at the begining of each day we roll a d6. 1-3 and you're fire. 4-6 and you're air.

Moving on to Spell Schools.

Does lightning fall into both Fire and Air? It should. We should be a lightning mage with a lesser emphasis on fire and air at large. Riding lightning bolts, throwing lances of electricity, restarting hearts, and tazer punches.
>>
You can choose one major, and one minor school to start with, as you level up you can improve your capabilities in the other schools.

A: Evocation: The manipulation and conjuration of energy. (blasting things with spell fire, blocking enemy spells etc. etc.)
B: Transumation: The manipulation of matter, turning one thing into another thing.
C: Conjuration: The manipulation of spirits and entities from planes beyond this one. Used for the binding and banishing of outsiders and elementals.
D: Enchanting: The use of magic to manipulate objects and creatures, can be used to charm, dominate, or obsfucate.
E: Illusion: use for the creation of sounds, images, and sensation which are false.
F: Necromancy: This school deals with life and death. Just as useful for healing and banishing ghosts as it is for making undead minions.

Note that enchanting items is a seperate skill and something we'll cover in a moment. So pick your majore, and minor spell schools.

When Jaggan the Haughty, God of Beauty and Might fell from the skies his body did scatter into many pieces, for his arrogance and bigotry had earned the wrath of many gods. Where ever the pieces of his form fell the ground shuddered and spilt and sundered. The very fabric of reality was damaged by this violence and the Plains of Jaggan are now home to bursts of wild magic, which creatures from all across the realms use to travel to the World of Armuin.

You have dwell in a small cave deep in the heart of the Plains of Jaggan. It is here that you honed the natural magic that surges through your body. You wear armor and wield weapons forged from the Orichalcum that litters the storm wracked plains of Jaggan and your mystical abilities have let you survive encounters with the strange creatures that roam this cursed place.

You have only ever known the company of your mother, a witch and a ser who raised you and taught you what little understand of the Art you possess. You buried her yesterday.

Her last reading informed you of many things.

that a village far at the edge of the plains of Jaggan will come under attack from a Warlord who wishes to have slaves for his fiefdom.

That there is an ancient fortress home to an ancient mummy who requires skilled servants to do his bidding. Amoral, but trustworthy if one is true to their word.

That there is a group of nomads who have an ancient prophecy of one of their ancestors, a storm mage, shall return to them and lead them to glory.

That one of the wild portals shall lead to a world that has not yet been ruined by the folly of the gods.

In her own way she was trying to care for you with her last reading, each of these are clearly paths to what she thought would be the beginning of a better life. Would you like to do anything with this information? Or just..y'know murderhobo around?

Rolled 6

You take up your Worg leathers and chain shirt and don them in preperation for your journey. You add a knife and a sword to your belt, you take up your spear and strap your Ember Hound to your Chariot. In the chariot lies a pair of satchels. In these are all the possessions that you and your mother owned in the world. You have decided to ride to the distant, unnamed village in the hope of making your way in the world.
>>
>>21242887
Does our Ember Hound have a name? And is that just a massive, black dog with fire in its eyes and smoke in its breath, whose footprints leave char marks where it treads?
>>
Igneous, your Ember hound looks up at you as you take your place in your chariot. He pants and paws at the ground, sparks fly from his fur and fill the air with Sulphur. You raise one hand, snap your fingers and as if on cue a lightning bolt strikes the ground in the distant horizon. Igneous knowss his place and he begins running with a speed that only his kind can manage. Icy cold rain falls from the sky and patters off your armor and chariot and the wild magic of the plains lends a strange, otherworldly light to the unusually dark morning.

The storm rages through out the day, lightning bolts and thunder seeming to follow you across the plains. Igneous needs no nourishment, aside from the lightning sprites you occasionally feed him so he makes excellent time. You arrive at the village by mid day to much fanfare by the peasants who dwell there.

cont->
>>
>>21242917
Yes, kind of like a hellhound, but with less evil.

The people here stare at you, as they should you suppose. You stand six feet tall and your eyes glow with blue light. Your hair moves in a breeze only you can feel and electric sparks occasionally leap from you to nearby metal objects. The people here seem to eke out an existence using wood, stone, and the occasional metal tool to make the earth give up crop of sickly wheat or potatoes. You stand aside Igneous and with a few gestures and words of the art you conjure an elemental sprite to reward him for his service. He eagerly devours the squalling elemental and the obvious use of magic shocks the villagers. As one they retreat towards a large hunting lodge located on top of a hill.

Well, large when compared to the mud brick and thatch shacks the dwell in. It's probably big enough for 50 people at most to dwell in. You march up the hill, following the paniced procession of peasants.

cont->
>>
Eventually you find youself confronted by ten men, and a single large woman. They dress in leather armor and wield iron knives, hatchets, and the occasional short sword. The woman stares you down, and though she is clearly trying to be brave for her men you can tell she is afraid. After several long, tense moments she finally speaks.

"What business do devil worshippers and demon children have here? We are simple folk who want to live our lives in peace. Why have you come here Demon?"

What is your response?

Amusing note; Akira Toriyama, in Sounen Jump Monthly 1997, said that the Super Sayian transformation and Frieza arc was inspired by the Cu Chulainn myths. In her final hours she showed me 3 prophecies. Among them was that your village would be attacked by a warlord who wishes to have slaves." The Woman moves to speak and you slam the butt of your spear into the ground. As is always the case when the storm is with you, thunder and lightning punctuate your actions. "Be SILENT wench. I am no demon and I take offense at such casual associations." You point at her with the broad tip of your spear. "Should you desire my help you will watch your tongue, respect my departed mother and her words of prophecy and prepare your village for the coming storm."

There's a brief moment where you think the woman will attack you. Then she sighs heavily and invites you into the hunting lodge, after she and her warriors banish the peasants back to their huts.

The hunting lodge is new and still smells of saw dust and tree sap. It clearly has deep cellars and several storage rooms. But the majority of it is dominated by a trio of thrones and a round table. They offer you a seat at the table and you take it. Weak beer is brought up and passed around and you are served a meager meal of boiled potatoes and hard bisquits. It comes to light that Artura, leader of this band of warriors and her farmers escaped the Tyranny of Kharn the red, likely the figure her mother foretold. She apologizes for calling you a demon and states that she is not familair with the Plain of Jaggan and it's inhabitants.

You learn that the farming has been poor and that her people are weak. Food has been given to her warriors and their war hounds but as things stand a decently sized enemy force would decimate her and her people.

As much as she and her warriors fear and hate magic it may be their only hope if they wish to survive.

Her people are poor, in knowledge, skill, and wealth but Artura offers you a place of Honor and High position among her people if you promise to aid them against the forces of Kharn the Red.

Come to think of it there's plenty you could teach these people with the lore left behind by your mother and your own personal knowledge crops native to the plains that would fair better than their potatoes and wheat, herbal remedies, and of course you could teach them a thing or two about metal working.

What would you like to do?

Teach them as much as possible and as fast as possible while summoning lots of elementals to bolster their ranks for both manual labor and warfare.

I suggest metal working, that way they can make better weapons and will have easier time defending. Better crops will help in the long run but we are facing a crisis here.

Roughly a week or so, you're mother was always right on the clear details but her timing could be off now and again. She also taught you to Throw The Runes, which is a clumsy, time consuming ritual. But it can give you some solid information.

Note that you can summon sprites at the moment, which are weak on their own and suited to labor. (fire, wind, and lightning sprites for the forge for instance) but as a swarm they'd prove to be a potent combatant.

Oh and Igneous weighs 600 pounds and breathes fire so you can imagine what he's like in a fight.

okay lets say you have 7 days until Kharn the Red arrives.

Sprites are...dumb as hell and not suited to scouting, igneous can't talk but he's big, and fast and you can ride him so you could do some recon on your own.

If you want to do some metal working you need to find some metal ore, like orichalcum, mythril, adamantium, Thunderore, all of which are common in the Plains of Jaggarn. (half the reason un adapted plants have a hard time growing there.) Igneous can smell these metals and hunt them down. So you would go out with igneous, some peasants, and you'd dig up the metal, then you'd set up a forge.

You know what the local herbs and food plants (onions, beets, green root, and sun berries) look like. You can probably teach the farmers to locate and plant these within a few hours.

Throwing the runes takes an entire day, but you get to ask 3 questions and recieve true answers to each of those questions. The answers will be 3 sentences at most so ask your questions wisely.
>>
>>21243811
Throwing runes is a form of divination where you toss various pieces of stone, ivory, whatever out and depending on which runes are up and which are down you make a prediction.
>>
>>21243859
>You know what the local herbs and food plants (onions, beets, green root, and sun berries) look like. You can probably teach the farmers to locate and plant these within a few hours.

Lets do this first and then search for some metal.
>>
>>21243903
This. Once we have ore, show them how to start making metal armor and weapons on their own, then leave some sprites to help them and head out again to look for more.
>>
>>21243859

Can we have sprites build better fortifications or are they too dumb for that?
>>
Lets see metals...

Orichalcum is an excellent metal for mages. It channels your magic and makes each spell you cast more powerful. It also reinforces your efforts to resist spells but isn't the best when it comes to dealing damage, and it can be cumborsome.

Mythril: Light and strong, magical aluminum basically.

Adamantium: Hard, strong, heavy, and usually found at least 100 feet beneath the earth.

Thunderstone: Metal from falling stars, good for making magical items, especially sonic and lightning related items.

If we're going to hunt be prepared to roll some dice, also specify who you want to hunt and what you want to hunt for.

Not that the Plains are home to Man Eating horses, poisonus mongooses, cats that breathe fire, mice that are shrouded in flames, and boars that have iron plates as part of their skeletons.

>>21243929
Agreed. Once they have a day's worth of job ahead of them we can sit down with the runes and find out if there's any diplomatic solution to our current problem (namely, Kharn). Because if we get into a fight with these guys we'll be the last man standing in minutes. Also, clever solutions are often more rewarding then the hack-and-slash chopping.
>>
>>21243954
if you give them simple tasks then you can trust them, complicated stuff they'll fuck up. Just think of them as small, dumb, violent animals made of wind, lightning, and fire. You coudl, I dunno dig a trench and fill it with fire sprites ordered to attack anything that enters it though.
>>
Rolled 20

>>21244000
Let's look for mythril for arming the people (I assume it's like aluminium but as strong as steel, because aluminium is not actually very strong at all) and if we happen to find thunderstone for ourselves, that too. Also, we wouldn't be amiss with trying to find enough orichalcum for a shield.
>>
>>21244000
I say we search for Mythril. Probably the easiest to work with.

And if we hunt, lets go for a boar. Probably most meaty thing. Or a horse.
Of course, we go hunting with our dog.
>>
>>21244000
Mythril is what we should go for. We don't really have the time to get Adamantium and they aren't magic enough to make Orichalcum useful.

Though thunderstone would be nice as well, maybe making traps, explosives, that sort of thing.
>>
Rolled 36

>>21244000
Nice trips you've got there.

I guess Igneous could do the sniffing, and if need arises the security part, while we focus entirely on keeping the mining team safe.
I think Mythril would be our best bet, since we're already covered in Orichalcum armour and our lads don't have the muscle/skill/time for Adamantium.
>>
Your First Day among Artura's people is spent teaching the Villagers the basics of survival, avoiding the Slaughter Horses and the Iron Boars, how to placate the Flame Cats and how to drive away the Fire Mice.

But Perhaps most importantly of all you help them collect native plants. Green Root, Onions, Beets and Sunberries. Plots for the plants are set up and stores are filled with meat from the few animals fool hardy enough to attack the people under your protection.

For the first time in a long time their bellies are full, but the danger is far from passed. This is the quiet before the storm.
>>
Rolled 84

>>21244155
Okay, now let's go hunting for ore. We're mostly looking for a large vein of mythril, but also any thunder stones or orichalcum we come across.
>>
From now on just specify whether we'll make use of the Fire Aspect or the Air aspect.

You'll be stuck with it for the entire day but there are advantages to each state. Air gives you the whole lightning thing and gusts of wind can come in handy on the battle field.

But Fire would be more than a little useful for metalworking and has its own battlefield benefits.

Anyway I trust we'll be going for Mythril? (which is light as aluminum but strong as steel.)

If so, roll 3d20s.

You don't find any thunderstone or Orichalcum but you do find Mythril, more than enough to serve the village for the next fifty years. Every works and everyone carries as much as they can. (Except for Igneous whose bodie burns bright enough to turn most metals red with the heat.) The Mythril is hauled back to the Village of the Arturans and you build a forge.

You place a fire sprite inside of the forge to supply it with heat and an air sprite to provide the fire with that extra spark when it needs more heat. Your would be blacksmiths are crude, and unskilled but the weapons, armor, and tools they make will do the jobs required of them.

You've provided these people with food and metal, something most villagers would quite literally sell their children for. But the threat of Kharn the Red still looms over all.
>>
>>21244374
Are there people who could act as scouts and report beforehand if they see Kharn's force? Or is it too dangerous?

Anyway, is there a wall/palisade around the village?
>>
okay you've got guys working on making tools and weapons and armor, not pretty but it'll do the job. They've also seen that storm and fire are a part of you, for whatever that counts.

So, last I checked you wanted to throw the runes once that was all out of the way. Here are the rules:

You may ask three questions. Two of these questions may only be answered with yes or no.

One of these questions may be answered with a 5 sentence paragraph. You may sacrifice a yes or no question to add one sentence each to that paragraph.

These answers will not be misleading or coy, and will be perfectly truthful, though some details may wind up being left out.

Carefully pick your questions, you have 5 days until kharn arrives, 4 if you count this one.
>>
>>21244445
I guess we could ask to get a very detailed description of Kharn's force with its strengths and weaknesses.
>>
>>21244435
>>21244445
indeed, a pallisade might be useful, depends what this dude has in store for us.

might as well throw the runes first and see if we even stand a chance?

I suppose the 5 sentence question should be along the lines of "how can we defeat kharn" or who is he or something.
>>
>>21244445
The detailed question I'd put "What is the size, composition, training level, and magical strength of Kharn and his army?"

A yes and no question would be "If I chose to fight Kharn in single combat would I win?"

I can't think of another yes/no.
>>
>>21244435
These guys live in mudbrick huts with roofs made of leaves, dried grass, and branches held together by mud. Oh, and those huts have small basements. The lodgehouse is basically a very large log cabin held together by basic architecture and mud. Their fallback plan was to shut the peasants inside of the lodge and make a last stand in a small foyer just inside of the doors.

anjyone unable to fight would be placed in the cellars, which are quite extensive.

So no, no wooden pallisade.
>>
>>21244500
I'm sure we are going to fight Kharn whatever answer we get.
We could sacrifice yes/no question for another sentence for describing his army.
>>
>>21244540
Can we build one? How long would it take?
>>
>Will Kharn yield to diplomacy?

>Can I defeat Kharn in single combat?

>How should I best defend these people?
>>
>>21244500
is Kharn scrying on us or will he

if he's looking back things might be subject to change
>>
>>21244500
Second yes/no
Will Kharn and I meet face to face?
>>
Rolled 54, 46, 11 = 111

>>21244629
>>
The runes speak and you listen to them.

"What is the size, force and magical strength of kharn's army?"
Kharn's army stands 120 men strong. His men bear breastplates, chainmail, shields and helms of iron. His men have 5 chariots hitched to gelded stallions. Kharn and his men do not wield magic but the force that drives them is learned in the ways of the art. Be wary not of iron blades or spears but of what lies in musty tomes and crystal balls.

"Can I defeat Kharn in single combat?"
Yes.

"Will Kharn and I meet face to face?"
Yes.
>>
>>21244734
Good information to have. We ought to be able to win this one if we're smart. If we goad Kharn into single combat we can take him down.
>>
>>21244734
oh, that was day 3.

You have 40 peasants, and ten trained warriors, eleven counting artura. 1 mage (or epic hero) counting you, and one elemental beast, counting Igneous.

Working all together it would take you 2 days to build a pallisade. The buildings may be primitive but Artura's people are surprisingly good with the few carpentry tools they have.
>>
>>21244734
those yes/no questions were fucking useless. Have you people never played quests before? It was obvious the answers were going to be yes.

>>21244775
Hmm. What are our best AoE spells? 10 warriors against 120 is not going to cut it.
>>
>>21244775
Set up the palisade, also train the peasants to use spears from the fortifications. We want this place to look too costly to try to take, and having 40 extra people manning the walls with spears will make them think twice.
>>
Now that I think about it, palisade seems useless.

It might be better to abandon the village before battle. Have noncombatants hide somewhere and when the army comes, attack from the flank.
>>
>>21244803
you can do lightning spells and you can call down gusts of wind and lightning in your air aspect. Your ice spells, spears of ice, and hail are also more powerful in this apsect.

You can also summon up gouts of flame and fireballs whenever but those are much stronger in your fire aspect, and when in your fire aspect you can set yourself on fire. Oh and you can conjure up arrows of fire, and barrages of small, flaming rocks.

You've also got some energy bolt spells that home in on their target, and some dazzler spells (flashes of light.) None of those are effected by your elemental aspects.
>>
>>21244901
How many sprites can we summon and which ones are the most effective in fights?
>>
>>21244890
maybe find a rocky outcrop or something and hide/wait them out? if they do attack having the high ground to rain stuff on them while they try to climb a slope always worked for the romans in massively outnumbered situations.

and "can I defeat Kharn in combat" lol. I hope the runes didn't screw us by leaving out "if he had 2 broken arms and a bad case of the squirts"
>>
>>21244937
The fire sprites are globes of amorphous fire, same thing with air and lightning sprites, Air sprites will pull the breath from a man's lungs and I don't have to explain what lightning and fire sprites do.

You can summon up ten per day of any type and they tend to flock together regardless of elemental affiliation. They're all equally useful in a fight.

>>21244940
The spirit of the question was "Can I defeat Kharn in personal combat." I.E. if the two of you entered an arena pit 1 on 1 could you win?

The Answer was yes, however I will not give you the ODDS of that outcome.
>>
>>21244940
Speaking of rain.
We could call up rain and the longhouse would be harder to reach due to all the mud
>>
>>21244997
not making me feel any better. =/
>>
>>21244834
This. We don't need, or frankly even want to actually be able to defeat Kharn's forces. The goal is to make them unable or unwilling to fight us. Let's set everything up so that every foot of ground they take will be costly to them, and make sure that every man will fight to the death. The slavers won't want to bother if they can't take living slaves.
>>
>>21245011
Yes, you can call up rain in your storm aspect.
>>
>>21245028
I don't think it will work out as you think.

Besides, even if it does, they will come back with bigger force if we don't decimate them here. Although there is no guarantee that Kharn will even be among the force attacking.
And now that I think of it, we asked what the size was of his army. I doubt that he will send his ENTIRE army leaving his holdings unguarded to fight some people living in mud houses.
>>
If we build palisade, we should make bows for the warriors.
>>
>>21245028
>>21245011
this might work?
>>
>>21245182
heck, we could have it rain for the entire day before the battle and turn whole territory in big-ass mud field. The force will be exhausted by the time they come to the village and the chariots will be useless.
>>
>>21245227
mud mud mud mud
mud mud mud mud
>>
>>21245227
Air sprites will be harder to see during heavy rain and be much more usefull in fight. On the other hand, making enemy force wet, will make it easier to zap them with lightning.
So we should have 5 air and 5 lighting sprites.
>>
The palisade will take you 2 days to build, anyone who isn't you likely won't come back from a scouting expedition due to the dangers of the world and the fact that most of these people are in no way shape or form prepared to deal with a roaming outsider or dire animal.

Tech level on this world is roughly bronze age, with bits and pieces of magic and alchemy popping up. (golems and zombies and whathaveyou...) so a palisade, defended by a skilled mage is something that your average army, one like the one approaching, will not be prepared to deal with.

As to what may be BEHIND that army approaching the village of the Artuans I won't comment. (though you can throw the runes to learn about it.)
>>
>>21245227
Mud for the mud god! Then, after the battle, we get some fire sprites to firm the land back up for the village.
>>
>>21245261
Oh, then we should build a pallisade.
Also, bow for the people! And a crash-course on how to use them
>>
>>21245312
yep, pallisade time.
then we can runes and ask "did we miss anything" lol
>>
>>21245261
Build the palisade, make long spears, bows strung with gutstring, arrows with metal arrow heads. We won't be able to defeat an army of 150 trained warriors, but if they intend to siege us, they'll lose more men than we will, in the short and long rung.
>>
>>21245330
lets not waste time with runes anymore.

OP, can we give buffs to other people? Enchant them somehow? Or is it a skill we do not know yet?
>>
>>21245347
>siege
maybe we should set up a system for dealing with human waste so they get dysentary before we do, especially with all this mud were planning
also mkight want to stockpile the food if we havn't already
>>
>>21245371
It's not going to THAT long of a siege.
>>
>>21245371
This isn't a formal military, this is a band of slavers. The siege would only last until they run out of food and have to either move on or made a suicide rush against our walls. This is 150 people. That's big, serious business for this little village, but still nothing that long-term.
>>
>>21245415
And besides, if they actually try to a long-term siege, we will just zap the shit out of them
>>
Everyone who can, does work. Warriors escort loggers deep into the plains and wood is brought back. The sap is luminescent and smells of warm spring days but you put it to use nonetheless. Within a day or so of gathering you have enough wood for the pallisade and much time is spent erecting hastily built fortifications. More importantly much time is spent making sure that these fortifications will stand up to harsh weather.

By the end of your 5th day among the Arturans a strong, 15 foot tall wall rienforced with strategically placed (and laborously moved) boulders stands around the Village.
>>
I say we start building a shallow moat around the palisade and then start summoning lightning sprites.

When the slavers assault the palisade, we set the sprites loose on them - hopefully we can fry a big percentage of them before we bust out the archers.

If we're lucky, we kill half this guy's band of morons before he knows we're actually prepared.
>>
>>21245438
Sweet, we have one or two days before the assault, right? Guess we should spend time training warriors or something.

>>21245460
and this too.

And don't forget to start the rain so that everything is muddy as fuck before the battle.
>>
>>21245356
I forgot to dedicate a paragraph to the construction of bows... Well you have simple bows strung with gutstring now. Simple arrows too.

You can't enchant anything yet, closest you have to that is channeling your own elemental affinity to run lightning through your orichalcum armor and weapons or fire to heat up yout armor and weapons.

You can however summon sprites and say "Do what that person tells you to do." or "Protect that person"

I once again note that sprites are dumb as hell and may destroy a building when following poorly worded orders.
>>
>>21245438
>>21245497
Well, let's spend the next few days doing drills, setting patrols, and making sure that everyone is well-equipped and at least somewhat comfortable with their gear. It's time for vigilance now.
>>
The final days leading up to the invasion pass at a fever pitch. Weapons and armor are crafted and troops are trained in the use of spears, swords, axes, shields, knives and bows. A shallow moat is dug around the Pallisade and a hard rain is started. Eventually though time runs out and you assume your Storm Aspect.

You bring down the rains and the area becomes soaked, the shallow plain turns into a thick, muddy mess and becomes just about impossible to pass mounted or on foot. You even summon up air elementals. Lightning sprites and wind sprites. When the morning of the 7th day comes an army of men stands outside the pallisade. They bear a standard of a Dragons head, and a banner that depicts a snake devouring a hawk.

At their head stands a man, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and four feet wide. He carries a tower shield and an enormous axe. A two handed sword is slung across his back and his armor appears to be made from iridescent ruby red scales.

The rain has mostly died down now, though a miserable drizzle still falls upon the land. Occasionally lightning strikes in the distance and thunder rumbles but there's always thunder in the Plains of Ragaan. The small army seems confused and disheartened, especially the men who own the chariots. Only the Man in the red armor and the horned helm seems immune to the mood of depression that's settled on the invaders.

He stomps across the muddy plain till he is just outside of arrow range. From here you can see that he has a long orange red beard, and a braided mustache that reaches his knees. He raises his gauntleted hands to his mouth and screams at the top of his lungs. "I AM KHARN CULLINGHAND, KARN THE RED, SLAYER OF DRAGONS AND LORD OF THE FIEFDOM OF KHALL! WHO CALLS THIS SHITHEAP HOME?!"

How do you respond?

Turn on the lightning and the intimidation. Stand atop the palisade with lightning sparking from us and our voice echoing like thunder.

Come and meet me in battle. Should I die this village shall fall, but should you die I shall command your men and your lands."

You peek your head over the Pallisade, look Kharn right in his blood red eyes and state simply. "Go fuck yourself churl."

With that you lower yourself behind the fortifications and conjure a thunder storm. The clouds overhead bunch up and darken and begin flickering with an inner light and a lightning bolt streaks downward from the sky and strikes Kharn. He manages to whisper a few harsh expletives before keeling over, apparently dead.

His mean don't like this at all. One hefts a crystal ball, snarls something arcane sounding and hurls it, it smashes against the pallisade wall and the entire wall goes up in flames. Despite your best efforts it still manages to scorch away some of the ramparts and wound some of the villagers.

As one the Army makes Vulgar gestures towards you, snatches up Kharn the Red and begins the laborous process of marching ut of the field of mud you've created.

You set the Sprites on Kharn's army and the men begin to scream and wordlessly thrash around as lightning sprites and wind sprites electrify them and steal the breath from their very lungs. Your Villagers mount the wals with slings and use them to hurl river stones, chunks of slag, and any other hard object they have on han at the army. More than a few men wind up with broken bones from a well hurled stone.

You send hailstones and spears of ice down upon the fleeing soldiers and leav 30 men dead in the mud, 5 are two wounded to walk and the soldiers eventuall abandon trying to keep the chariots. Theyt un hitch the stallions and ride off on them.

Notable spoilers.

Kharn's Armor: No doubt about it, this armor has red dragon scales as an integral part of its construction. (Not D&D, a dragon's color has nothing to do with it's morality or lack thereof) It also has dragon horns, teeth, and talons as parts of the helmet, gauntlets and gloves. Interestingly enough the teeth and talons are many different sizes suggesting that whoever made this armor has access to draconic young. The scales are harder and lighter than steel and can turn away anything short of an adamantium blade. They alo appear quite capable of standing up to just about any heat you could subject them to. The leather and metal are quite mundane though so you may just want to take the draconic products and use the metal for spare parts. (Especially since Kharn's kind of baked into the armor.)

Kharn's Shield: Tower shield, red dragon scales, horns, and teeth. Backed with iron and cow leather. Nothing terribly notable here.

cont->
>>
>>21246365
Okay, let's scavenge the draconic materials and work them into our orichalcum armor. Red dragon scale mail over an oricalcum chain shirt? Yes please.
>>
>>21246365
"Notable Spoils" ugh...anyways.

Kharn's Sword and axe: a Large war axe and a two handed sword, made of iron and of excelent crafstmanship, otherwise not notable.

Khallian Vassal Armor: Chainmail hauberk with an iron breastplate. Chainmail leggings, leather boots and leather gauntlets. A bucket helm. 35 suits of this armor have been claimed, most are somewhat damaged.

5 Wounded Khallian Vassals: 5 terrified men, for the moment locked into a room in the lodge and kept under guard by men and women equipped with crude mythril armor and weapons.
>>
>>21246442
Let's patch the vassal armor up to help equip our people and rework the draconic materials into and onto our existing armor. We'll patch up the wounded men, give them some food, and then question them.
>>
>>21246468
Yeah, lets use the spoils.
If the armor and weapons we recovered are better than what our troops had, have them use them after fixing them up. If not, then smelt them and turn them into tools and such.
>>
You have the wounded men brought a room in the lodgehouse and put under stern guard by some of the uninjured militiamen and women. Using herbal rememedies taken from your mother's lore you aid the villagers in their attempts to tend to the wounded of both sides. Poltices and unguents are applied to burnts and cuts and broken bones are bound with cloth, branches, and leather thongs to hold the limb in place.

The Soldier's armor is taken to the blacksmiths, they patch it up as best they can and soon enough the heavy iron armor is in circulation among the Villagers. The blacksmiths have learned something from their efforts though, they've already begun modifying the village's armor with the more intelligent design elements of the Khallian armor.

You meanwhile, begin the long, disgusting process of sorting Kran's armor from the remains of kharn. After a few hours of effort you have a pile of scorched leather and metal lying on the Forge's floor. You also have a pile of shiny, ultrahard red scales.

cont->
>>
You've begun mapping out the process of sorting the scales and horns and fangs into possible upgrades when a boy of thriteen or so comes to see you. You vaguely recognize him. He is Willum, Artura's only sibliing.

"Beggin' your pardon M'Lord but my sister wishes you presence immedietly."

The young one stands there sweating in the heat and noise of the Forge waiting for an answer. what would you like to do?

took a short food break, apologies

You nod, and dismiss the lad, not unkindly. "I'll be with her in a moment, tell your sister to expect me." The young one nods and his soaked brown hair sends water droplets to the floor of the forge as he turns and runs off. The water has become steam long before the boy's foodsteps fade away. You turn, stretch, yawn briefly and leave your armor where it is. No one would dare take it with Igneous standing outside.

The village is in an uproar, celebrating its surprisingly turned fortunes. Sure plenty of people are exhausted and suffering from injuries sustained during all the heavy labor and combat but they've got hope, that's not something they had before.

It takes some effort on your part, after all the ground is quite muddy but you manage to climb up the hill and soon enough your find yourself in the lodge. One of the Militia men greets you and directs you to "Lady Artura's chambers."

cont->
>>
You find yourself at the top of a flight of stairs soon enough and eventually in a short, wide hallway. It take syou a moment to find the twin lions that are Lady Artura's crest. They're emblazoned on a heavy wooden door which has been reinforced with iron and bronze. You knock on the door firmly, but politely.

The door is opened just enough to allow someone inside and then shut behind you. Lady Artura is six feet tall, strong and muscular. She dresses like a man. Her hair is usually bound in a tight braid and left to fall behind her. Today she has the long, brown locks down. She's dressed in a Linen toga and her feet are clad in a pair of leather sandals. She wears a simple golden necklace around her neck, for once you're able to think of her as a woman and not as the Leader of this large village.

She gestures to a pair of rough hewn chairs and a small table that, along with a writing desk and a bed serve as her only furniture. You take her up one the offer of a seat.

cont->
>>
She pours you a strong, strange liqour into a silver bowl and takes a sip from the bottle before handing your your drink. "Moonpear Brandy, a small taste of home." You murmur a polite compliment on the drink and Artura sighs. "There's no beating around the bush I suppose. Lets get it out in the open."
She takes a swig of the brandy bottle and begins to speak. "This is not the end. A long time ago me and my people were vassals to lord Drake and his kingdom. But Lord Drake took in outsiders, mages from some fabled city called Naxxasallidion. They were mages, spell casters. Soon lord Drake fell sick and his son took the throne. His sone began accusing people right and left of being traitors, slaying them and taking their land. The boy was always bad news but with the mages at his back he was unstoppable. Who else claimed the new land but the Naxxas? They forced out old, loyal families like mine. They abused old laws and brought the blight of slavery to the land."

cont->
>>
"My father tried to fight back and they slew him with foul magic on the field of battle. My people tried to escape and lost many to the slavers and the black hearted mages. Eventually we came to this place and thought ourselves safe." She laughs bitterly. " We didn't even know what crops would grow here. We probably would've died within a few months if your mother hadn't decided to take pity on us and send you hear with her prophecy."

"What I mean to say is, We need you. Without you they'll just send another army, a bigger one and we'll all die. I'll give you anything you ask except my people's freedom."

How would you like to respond?
>>
>>21247158
"I think that we can help each other."

Then tell her about the prophecy involving the nomads.
>>
Well, that was the idea, the reason why we came her in the first place, right?
Although, I wouldn't have minded if we just defended them and went to Nomads or the Portal.

Anyway, lets agree. We will help them establish themselves so that they can defend their homes on their own and then we'll see what happens.

>>21247204
why?
>>
>>21247222
Because if we get the village and the nomads both working together, we may really have something to work with. We should have a week or two at least to go try to find them and take our rightful place as their leader.
>>
>>21247252
You think Nomads will go and just settle down here? We don't even know what their prophecy is. For all we know, we will have to travel half-way across the world to defeat an ancient evil or something.
>>
>>21247158
"I won't stay forever, it is a large world and I wish to see as much of it as possible. But I am not planning on leaving you and your people to die. It would not be right.

I will help how I can, help your people grow strong and self sufficient, forge alliances, perhaps move somewhere where no army will come. There are also some nomads who may listen to me and join you, I'm not sure yet.

As for giving me anything I ask, the only things I have seen so far which I would want from your people, aside from your thanks, would be the brandy we are drinking and you yourself. My mother would scold me if I coerced a woman in that manner so I suppose I'll just take the brandy."

yes time to build an empire
>>
"Well I won't stay here forever. It's a big world and I want to see all of it." Artura's face falls and you can clearly see that she's trying to think of a way to sruvive the dark days ahead. "However I did go to all the trouble of saving you and your people so I'm hardly going to abandon you to whatever strange fate awaits you here on the plains." The woman sighs with relief and you can see that she really does have an impressive smile. "As for anything I want..." You finish off the brandy in your cup and gently pluck the bottle away from Artura's hands. "There's you, and the brandy, which I'm already enjoying. My mother (rest her soul) would surely be offended if I took advantage of a woman in such a situation so I'll just have to settle for the brandy." You cap the bottle and stand up, giving Artura a small polite gesture of farewell before leaving her in her chambers.

You spend the rest of the day adding the red dragon scales to your orichalcum armor.

This. We really need to get an alliance going, and it doesn't matter which direction it's in.
>>
the villagers joining the nomads or vice versa is still an option, you can bring it up at a later date. I just think maybe you should meet the nomads first and get to know them before deciding anything.

Your armor now bears red scales on the gauntlets, boots, helmet, leggings and of course the chainshirt. So far you haven't done anything with the horns or fangs.

The Villagers are happiers than you've ever seen them and they're cheerfully repairing the damage to the pallisade, their farming operations, and setting up teams of hunters. You spend a few minutes watching them go about their lives and then your mind turns to other things.

The words of your mother come unbidden to your mind. A mummy, mage using some kind of preservative magic deep inthe Raggan Plains, a tribe of nomads with a prophecied storm king, and a portal to another world.

What would you like to do?
>>
>>21247491
Go try to track down the nomads. These brave men and women can hold down the fort for a while, and we'll leave them some sprites at any rate.

Guys. Guys. Guys, wait, guys just listen.

What if we go talk to the mummy? What if we could get him to back our empire thing?

Magic is rare right? And we're some sort of god child elemental freak right?

Well imagine what we could do if we had an ancient sorcerer backing our play eh?
>>
Meet up with nomads, get to know them. If they're decent people you could make them meet up with villagers. Maybe prepare everyone for an exodus via the portal, grass is greener on the other side afterall. Unless it's orange.
>>
>>21247532
I agree, in due time, though. The mummy is described as evil - loyal, but evil - and he's expecting someone to work for him, not the other way around. If we're going to deal with him, we should already have a sufficient power base for us to be a team.
>>
>>21247491
First check how the armor feels and moves.

I'm torn between visiting the mummy or visiting the nomads. They're both strong options for the Arturans to ally with.

The nomads feel like they'll want us to lead them and we'll either have to bring them with on our adventures or stay with them, which could be annoying. But we don't really have enough cards up our sleeve to strike a good deal with an old powerful wizard like the mummy.

>>21247563
Not evil, amoral. He's not going to go out of his way to kick puppies, he just doesn't care.
>>
>>21247590
>Not evil, amoral. He's not going to go out of his way to kick puppies, he just doesn't care.
Then the point about him wanting an employee, not a partner, still stands.
>>
Before we actually go somewhere lets teach the villagers some more.
Hunting, survival, etc.
Spend a week making sure they can survive on their own
>>
>>21247605
That point does indeed still stand. If we want to use his fortress for the Arturans we need something of our own to offer in exchange. And we have to set up the deal so their not in servitude to him, they just live in the same place and work together.

So for now I >>21247590 advocate visiting the Nomads.

Also we should drink some brandy. Delicious brandy.
>>
You add the dragon horns and fangs to your satchel and and hitch up Igneous to your chariot. After feeding a sprite to the emberhound you summon a few more and leave them in the care of responsable villagers who know how to handle the dumb little monsters. After several days of travel you finally encounter signs of travel. Ruts in the ground from a wagon, prints, from boots and animals, droppings, bird, feline, canine, and equine.

It takes you another day and then you come upon them. People driving wagons covered in colour paintings and silks, but these are no normal nomads. They bear a very particular kind of taint. Demons, Devils, Elementals, and Celestials. Thin Bloods, people who have just enough planar blood to be freaks but not enough to gain any profound arcane might from their blood. Attempting to describe the group is pointless. They literally canvas every possible humanoid body type and appearance. Beautiful, Ugly, Fat thin, tall short. Some even possess fur, scales, horns, fangs and vestigal wings
>>
>>21247656
Ride up to them, weapons sheathed, lightning crackling around you as you move, a storm growing on the horizon as you approach.
>>
>>21247681
seconded
>>
The Nomads have animals of all sorts with them domestic cats and dogs, plane touched animals like EmberHounds and HellRavens, birds, dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, horses, all of them bearing some manner of elemental, celstial, or demonic taint. It's clear these people have survived because they have an affinity fo the Raggan plains and its unusual inhabitants.

Oh, and your armor is comfortable, slightly heavier than it was but no more than you'd expect from adding some Orichalcum to it to increase your armor's potective qualities.

What would you like to do?
>>
>>21247681
That seems to fit.

When someone gawks we should ask to see their leader.
>>
>>21247734
This:
>>21247681
>>
You place your spear in it's stand and slap the side of your chariot mumbling "Goan." Igneous takes the hit and trots towards the nomad camp. As is always the case when you're in your storm aspect, lightning and thunder follow you. The skys rumble and lightning crackles in the distance (more so than usual on the Raggan plains) and within 30 short minutes you're in the core of the nomad camp. There's a brief moment where everyone stares at you and then one young man with golden skin, bright blue eyes and a pair of vestigal angel wings approaches you. He wears white silk pants and a white silk tunic. His feet are clad in shiny black boots. He smiles at you and extends one hand. "Fine Emberhound you have sire, Biggest I've ever seen. Bit of barter and I'll see to it he's fed and that your chariot is cleaned." He sounds pleasant enough and he has a dazzling white smile.

How would you like to respond?
>>
>>21247837
Fuckin' gypsies man...
>>
We should ask them to tell us about them selves. Where they are going, where they are from, etc
Lets get to know this faction before trying anything.
>>
>>21247837
Take his hand in ours and shake. Firm handshake, not crushing, but firm.

"His name's Igneous and I can take care of the him myself just fine, no offense.

Mind telling me a bit more about yourself and this caravan?"
>>
>>21247876
Well all witch momma said was that they had a prophecy, never said they weren't money grubbing bastards.

Though to be fair these guys are like post-faerun-ragnarok gypsies or somehing.

Lets just pay the guy some gold or something. I'm sure have enough barter to cover stabling services.

)lets take our valuables with us.)
>>
>>21247837
My instincts say not to trust him. What do you guys think?
>>
I'm thinking we could probably leave anything too big to carry on the chariot fairly reliably if we told the dog to guard that shit. If possible though, bring everything, give him something small but valuable, and tell the dog to GUARD THAT SHIT!
>>
You take the young celestial bloods hand in your own and shake it, firmly, respectfully, but not crushingly. "His name is igneous, thank you for the compliment but I can take care of him myself." You gesture at the nomad camp. "Tell what is this place and who are you people?"

The young man kneads his hand a little bit, either for theatrics sake, or maybe you just don't know your own strength. "Ah well I could tell you or I could put on a show." You frown at him in a manner that can only be described as Dreddful. "Oh c'mon...Show girls, flutes, lyres, sheer silks!" You increase the Dredd factor of your frown. The youngman sighs and shrugs. "We're the Lost Children. We have a name for ourselves but that's what the outsiders." He snaps his fingers and points at you. "Like you, call us. We travel the world in search of a place to call home. Most people don't want us around because we've been touched by the planes. We don't have any major magic so we can't force the issue."

cont->
>>
Before anyone jumps and tries them to bring to the village, make sure that we talk about this and persuade the villagers to have the nomads integrate with them.
>>
"You know how they say magic as plentiful in the days before the War in the Heavens?" You make an affirmative grunt. "Yeah well it turns out that if you're an unscrupoulus bastard you can use the blood of plane touched creatures-"

"Like us." You gesture at yourself, and then to Igneous.

"Like us," the young man doesnt seem to mind the interruption and actually seems to aprove of the association. "To perform certain spells. Any REAL city has a few mages who are supported by whoever is in power. So we have to sstay at the edge of civilization. That's our story. Now nothing's free in this world stranger. What's your story?"

How would you like to respond?
>>
>>21248116
Tell him that you were raised by a witch. That you control the storm. That she was a Seer who told of a prophecy, that you would find a group of nomads and lead them to greatness. That you're hoping it's them, and not some different group of nomads.
>>
>>21248116
Hmm... I guess there is no real reason to not tell about ourself. Give him the short version of our childhood till our mother passed away and then the events that happened after that.

Unless someone else wants to make up something.

"I was raised in the Raggan Plains by my mother, a witch... [explanation of recent events and why we're here.]

"I was raised in the heart of the Raggan Plains by my Mother, A witch and a Seer." The Man's eyebrows raise and you can tell he's dubious. "On her death bed she recited 3 prophecies to me. Among them that I was meant to meet a group of nomads and lead them to greatness." The young man is about to speak and you snap your fingers. Lightning strikes in the distance and thunder rumbles in sympathy. The youngman looks nonplussed but attempts to speak, you snap your fingers again. The young man rallies and conjures the forces of Cynisism, Apathy, and Pessimism. You snap your fingers yet again and he's forced to recognize that the storm is subject to your will.

"Y'know what? I think I'm just going to palm you off on the elders. I'll unhitch your Emberhound and let him guard your stuff. Please leave your weapons here." You aknowledge the young man's request and leave your spear, sword, and knife in the chariot. True to his word he unhitches Igneous from the chariot and takes you by the hand.

You're lead past a crowd of gawking people, some with demon and celestical features, soe with traces of the elements in their bodies. All of them are dressed in the same gaudy silks, though more than a few wear bronze, iron, mythril, and orichalcum beneath those silks. Eventually you're taken to the most unassuming of all the wagons that the Lost Children have and the young celestial knocks firmly on a door. An small trapdoor at eye level is slid aside and a pair of red eyes stares down at the pair of you. The sound of locks being undone follows and eventually a large, muscular man with red skin, tusks, and long claw like fingernails allows you inside of the tent. Your part celestial guide abandons you there.

cont->
>>
You're met with 3 very old planetouched humans. One bears a mild resemblance to a blend of man and tiger. He has a white mustache and beard combo that reaches his waist and wears a yellow silk robe. One is an old woman with smooth grey skin, black eyes, webbed fingers and sharp pointed teeth. She wears a simple cloth robe. The Last one is a tall, buff man with red scales covering his body. He has vestigal reptilian wings, yellow eyes, sharp teeth and long black finger nails. He wears what appears to be leather armor.

The large, red planetouched man takes his place at the door and proceeds to ignore you. You stand before the three elders in golden chainmail augmented by large, red scales. Your hair is unbound and it rests on your shoulders moving in a breeze that only you can feel and your eyes glow with blue light. Occasionally lightning crackles across your body, jumping from you to any nearby metallic surface.

The elders remain silent and inscrutable.

what would you like to do?

Lets be polite first and greet them, and then introduce ourself
>>
>>21248427
Politely bow. Then introduce yourself and cut right to the chase.
>>
You place your arm on your waist and bow from the hip, doing your best to be formal, but not ostentatious. You introduce yourself. The Elders do not off their names. You decide to take the only reasonably course of action. "My mother Was Blackfeather, a witch of the Raggan plains, a learned maker of potions, unguents and a Seer. using her powers of second sight she brought us to the one place she knew we would be safe for as long as she lived. In time she grew old, but not before teaching me all she could. On her deathbed she foretold three prophecies. In one I would meet a tribe of nomads and lead them to greatness." The Elders still refuse to speak. You shrug.

"I wield the power of fire and air." You stomp your foot and the walls of the wagon rattle with thunder. "I have access to mighty spells. If you do not think me fit to lead simply say so and I shall leave you in peace."

Just as you think you're about to be dismissed the tiger man makes a gesture. In a quiet, scarcthy voice he says a single word.

"Sit." It is given in the tones of one who is used to being obeyed. Not being a disrespectful wretch you obey the elder.

The oldman with draconic features speaks up. "You think this is the one foretold? Magic does not equal destiny. If you ground up a few of those touched by the plane of air and mixed their remains with the right substances you could do the same thing."

The woman with the shark features speaks. "The prophecy foretells one of great power over the elements. It states nothing about gender, physical appearance or physical ability. Simply that the Nishkin will no longer wander and will have a place to call home. That this one will be fair, and just."

The man with the draconic feature practically snarls. "You would subborn us to the will of a stranger?!"

The tigerman speaks up in his scratchy damaged voice. "If he proves to be fraud like the others he will be dealt with as the others were. Powerful mage or not."

They look like they could argue all day.

What would you like to do?

>>21248668

well... they said to sit, so I guess we could do that.
Or we could interject and ask them how they want to prove ourself.

Or we could tell them of the village we saved and got on its feet and how we are one of the leaders there already.
>>

pronouned "Neesh-Kin"

You politely clear your throat and the elders focus their gaze on you. "There were others who claimed to be your...Chosen one?"

The Tigerman speaks, now that your eyes have adjusted to the light you can see he has a scar across his throat. "The prophecy of the Nishkin is known of to some mages. Our blood contains a weak link to the plians of our ancestors. The hells, the heavens, the elemental plains. Our body parts can be used in certain rituals to aid a mage in various endeavours. Some would turn the Nishkin into a never ending supply of arcane components."

The draconic man snarls and you can see the barest reflection of an old pain in his eyes. "Those who would use of us for their own selfish gain are dealt with. Once and for all."

The sharkwoman speaks. "The prophesised one may just be a child's dream, however our people believe it, and will viciously punish any who would soil that mantle with selfish personal gain."

cont->
>>
The sharkwoman continues speaking. "If you do not have our people's best interests at heart, and merely want power for callow reasons then it is my advice that you leave this camp and never return child."

The elders stare at you now, awaiting a response, what would you like to say to them?
>>
>>21248845
Might be time to tell them of the village you just recently saved.
>>
>>21248845
Reassure them that you did not came just for the personal gain like the others, we want to help them and already have helped other peopel to survive.
>>
>>21248845
"I see.

I can not say that I have your people's best interests at heart as I have known you for so little time that I do not not your interests, your needs and so on beyond the superficial and immediately obvious. That of your desire for a home to call your own.

But I have no intent to harm you or your people and would instead want to help. My mother, may she rest in peace, raised me to be kind and to do no harm to the innocent. I swear upon her grave that I wish to be your friend."
>>
>>21248845
I'm simply a man that is following his mother's prophecies blindly. I do want to fulfill the paths she laid out before me, but I will not lie, I do wish to gain power... It may be my folly but wishing for enough power to be able to be content with is not something that can be so evil if the power is used thoughtfully, generously, and graciously. It is how I come to you now, wishing to lead your people to share in this greatness, with thoughtfulness, generosity, and grace. I do not wish for your submission, or even fealty, just to lead you along with me along the path to power.
>>
>>21248966
>>21248954
combination of these two would be great since they align with the frankness of our character
>>
"I am afraid that I cannot claim to be wise or particularly knowledgable. My only claim to greatness would be my affinity for the elements." Lightning stikes in the distance and thunder rumbles giving credence to your words. "The only thing I can claim is that my mother laid out a series of prophecies before me, and now I am blindly following them in the hopes that something good shall come of them. Tell me have you heard of Kharn the Red, lord of the fiefdom of Khall?" There are noises of distaste from everyone in the room, even the planetouched guarding the door. It's quite clear that they are familiar with the Fiefdom of Khall and its inhabitants. "Recently a group of refugees from that area of the world (which I claim no familiarity with) settlled on the edge of the plains. My mother foretold their doom so I went to see if they were worth aiding. I judged them to be innocent of any major wrong doing and taught them the survival lore my mother taught me."

cont->
>>
"I taught these people what plants could be grown for food, how to grow herbs and how to use them for healing. I taught them some basic metalworking and I helped them build a pallisade. I do not claim to be the sole reason they survived. Those people WORKED and had they shirked their chores and duties even for a moment I believe they all would have died." It's clear now that you have the elder's attention, even the bouncer has one eye on you. "Kharn the red came riding with his army, I used my magic to create a great storm the day before he arrived and he found the place too muddy for proper fighting. I struck him down with magic and helped the villagers fight those who would harm them. Last I checked they were doing much better." You shrug and rub at a sore muscle in your neck. "However I suppose I can understand if you think me a boastful fool. Feel free to send me on my way if you wish to hear no more stories from me."

The tigerman raises a hand gesturing for you to wait.

cont->
>>
"We will judge your actions ourselves Son of Blackfeather." states the Tigerman in his damaged voice. "Take us to the village, we will look on your works and judge them, not just the fortifications and the farming plots but the caliber of people you saw fit to save. Do you trust us not to harm those you saw fit to serve as saviour to?" The Elders, and their bodyguard have their eyes on you now.

How do you respond?
>>
>>21249186
Do they want to take everyone there or what? That might scare the villagers too much. If only a dozen or so people actually approach and enter the village, they will feel safer, I think. They can, of course park their caravan a bit further.

But other than that, sure, lets do it.
>>
>>21249186
"From what I have seen so far I would judge your words to be true. You seem like you have seen quite a bit of pain and persecution throughout your lives and I do not believe you would inflict the same upon the innocent.

Also it would be completely against your self-interest to harm them.

Shall we raise a toast to friendship and cooperation?"

Bring out the brandy if we brought it with us and offer them some. If we didn't bring it with leave out the line about a toast.

>>
"I believe it would be best for all involved to park the Caravan a ways off from the village. You can send people you trust to look on the village, and be safe from any...Negative reactions that might occur from some of the less enlightened mebers of the village in questions." The Elders nod, clearly this course of action appeals to their sensibilities.

"Speak with one of the Nishkin, have any belongings you have on hand stowed and help us plot a course to the village you wish us to inspect." The tiger man makes a dismissive gesture and the bodguard makes a "come here" motion with his head.

You're escorted out of the Elder's wagon by the bodyguard, he has a few words with one of the larger planetouched. You notice that that man wears red silk, within a few moments you witness that red silked plantouched man hunt down as many other red silk he can find and whisper something to them. After a few moments the redsilks as a single entity hunt down all the black silk planetouched they can find.

It quickly becomes clear that word about you is being passed around the camp, from the looks of things the Nishkin have identifiable ranks and functions based on the silks they wear over whatever gear they have on hand. You have your chariot and the items on it stored in a large open topped wagon an Igneous makes it his business to escort you around the camp from that point on, you make certain to feed him a sprite to reward his loyalty.

Is there anything in particular you'd like to do in camp while it travels to the Arturan village?
>>
>>21249429
See if they have any wares for sale, like any good gypsy caravan does.
>>
>>21249421
in fairness to the plane touched gypsies they wear leather armor, chainmail, and even the occasional breatplate underneath those billowing silks. The silks are just there to keep you from seeing the throwing knives or vials of poison.

oh, and they bits of jewlry and certain ways of dress that identify rank and functions. So think the silks as a starfleet uniform, only like, 100% more fabulous.

lets mingle, talk with people, make friends, learn about interesting people
>>
>>21249447
they have plenty for sale, normally you'd have to pay for food or board but the elders are making an exception for you.

they have javelins, bows, arrows, knives, spears and swords, armor of various kinds and makes (many of which looks like it was taken from the corpse of a persistant town guard) and books of lore. (though how much of that lore is dependable is unknown.)

They also have sex, booze, and drugs for sale.

Most of the Nishkin have fondness for song and story telling so you could always hunt down circle of people who are telling stories.

You have 1 day until you reach the Arturan village, just in case anyone cares.

well the yoyo and pineapple thing made it fairly obvious.

You trade some dragon teeth, a few gems and a block of orichalcum for pair of books. They aren't terribly glamorous but the book on basic military tactics should help you with making your villagers much more effective in combat, and the book on brick recipes and brick laying techniques will help with fortifications and road building.
