90 KB
You are Sir Daniel, an old hero long dead, or were, until Erik the Lich resurrected you to be his helper.

Fortunately, Erik is the laziest man you've ever known, and only wants to read erotica. But you're a good servant, and want to help your master by clearing the ladder to the top.

Last time you returned and had talks with your friends and family.

You bought a new siege bow and tested it out, on Beric's tower. The bow shattered his watchtower, proving it to be a powerful new tool.

You learnt about Rebecca's plans to start off on her own adventure.

Deciding that she wouldn't leave without you seeing how good she was, you challenged her to a fight.

In the match you gave her a few tips on combat, and she's was good enough to gain your approval. Though not your recommendation.

While she was resting after her beat down you decided to prove her wrong once more, on the cooking side of things. You made a venison stew.

You left your apprentices in charge of the stew as you went to Mort's club to check on Rebecca's adventuring party.

A bunch of amateurs, but decent enough. You gave them a few pearls of wisdom and a round of drinks, not sure which they appreciated more.

Back at the manor you had dinner and just listened to the others tell stories, you didn't want to ruin the mood.

But a sudden realization hit you, your bees!

You left the table and went to check up on them, and found the entire north wing had been converted to a superhive.

You gave them Beric's tower to have, in exchange for not hurting anyone out in the woods.

You are sitting in the fountains, scrubbing yourself after a flashback relating to Meryl thanks to the Queen Bee.

What do you do?

"Clean... Clean... Must be clean..."

You scrub yourself white, if you actually had skin, it's be red and pink by now.

>"I think that's enough, Daniel."
Erik says from the side of the fountain, staff in hand.

>>

"What do you want, Erik? More wetwork to be done?"

Erik sits down on the rim of the fountain.

>"But if you need any advice or information on your quest, feel free to ask."

Erik dips his staff into the water and suddenly there's bubbles forming on top of it.

>"No use bathing without some soap, now is there?"

What do you do?

Can Erik teach us any magic, or are we incapable of learning it for some reason?

You can't blush, no cheeks, no blood.

They could teach you some low level water breathing. Or how to directly convene with Hydra. But seeings as how you're his Champion, I feel that they'd be asking you for help.
>>
>>21241809

I was hoping for something more along the lines of, like, "Hydra's Claw", or something. Could be useful to cut things if we didn't have a sharp weapon on us.

If you'd chose Dagon... Then maybe.

But as it stands, you are without.
>>

Well, it could be a lesser form of our lizard man form. Hydra doesn't have any arms or legs, but we do when we're in that form.
>>
>>21241944
That's still a pretty impressive thing. Changing form to that of your God's. If you found the leader of Hydra's church, then sure.

But common monks that tend to the chapels do not have that kind of knowledge or power.

What do you do?

Let's find direcions to that steel city. Ask Erik and the crew then, if that doesn't work out, let's ask those around town.
>>

A pilgrimage might be in order then
Erik isnt exactly riding us to slay his enemies
Perhaps we should attempt to find the centre of Hydra's religion?

>>21242018
"Erik, do you know of a steel city?"

Erik looks up from the bubbly pool.

>"There's a few, actually. But you probably want the biggest, yes? Insurgo, an entire city made of iron and steel, and the world's tallest freestanding building. It'll put any wizard's tower to shame. Rather amusing, I think. Everyone with a nose for politics knows about it, go west, past the horizon and the green ocean, and there on the coast lies Insurgo."

Only Gary knows about it from your crew/apprentices, as he's from a trader family.

>"Yes sir, I can say I've seen those steel spires."

What do you do?
>>

Lets find that main church while Stumbles is working. Surely we have something plainer to hide our bleached sexiness. And we should be able to find at least 3 ways to make Areal speechless in the meantime.

>>

Find the HQ of the Church of Hydra, take SpiderDan with you (since he's also Hydra-adherant, if I remember correctly). Hopefully by the time we come back, not only will our new clothes be prepared, but Rebecca will have been gone long enough for us to have heard some stories about her.
>>
>>21242184
You assume that a main temple to a water god would be out over the sea.

You assume correct.

You nail a note to the door, telling everyone where you've gone.

You adorn your armour and weapons and make your way to the docks along the Sea Road.

Along the road you call out.
"It's OK, Dan, come out."

SpiderDan drops from the tree canopy.

>"I read the note, going to Hydra'sh Main Temple? May I accompany you?"

"Sure, you're an adherent as much as me."

SpiderDan nods and scuttles up next to you.

You and your godson walk along until you arrive at the docks.

You find your ship, it's the one covered in docking tickets.

What do you do?
>>
>>21242152
I was hoping to master some sort of deep-sea sensory deprivation rest to keep the mind focused. But a pilgrimage to Hydra's holy land/sea seems pretty cool.
>>

>>
>>21242269

>>

Fuck parking tickets. Take that boat out on the high seas.
...wait, do we know where we're going?
>>

Take all of those tickets and origami them into boats. Set them all off in the ocean.
>>
>>21242312
Watch the origami ticket boats get their own tickets
>>
>>21242301
I'm sure hydra could tell us where his church is.
>>
>>21242285
You stuff the tickets down your face hole, the hornbees make use of it to start building a hive in your chest.

You make your way to Hydra's shrine.

Inside is the usual lizard man attending to the altar.

You ask if he knows where the main temple is.

>"Cross the sea with the intent to find your Lord, and you shall find it."

He turns his back on you and returns to his duty.

That's all you'll get out of him, it seems.

You and Dan return to your ship and set sail, with the intent of finding the main temple.

You walk along an empty wooden pier, there's no ships, no shops, just mussels and clams sticking along.

You see a building's outline in the fog.

You go towards it.

The building's covered in the same stuff as the pier, and the outer walls made of coral and sea rock.

The doors are made from drift wood.

The drift wood doors open silently.

Inside torches burn upon the walls as Hydra's faithful go about their business, but the ones here aren't dressed head to toe in the brown rags the ones on land are.

The lizard men, and monks of Hydra go about with a moss green cloak wrapped around them.

They turn to see who has come to them.

>"Very good, follow me."
The monk shows you to a door, but instead of an altar room there's a winch.

>"Enter the lift."

You do as prompted and get on.
The monk gets on after SpiderDan and closes the gate behind him.

He rings a bell and soon enough the lift lowers down into the earth.

>"The Lord of the Deep is below, as you can guess. The Old alter as well."

You go down and down for what seems like hours. But eventually the lift stops and the gate opens. You walk off and into a room carved into the earth. You feel the pressure of the rock above you pressing on all sides.

>"Follow me to the old monk's room."
The monk leads you down another passage, going deeper still into the earth.

Soon you see a blue light at the end, and you come out into a small chamber.

You see an alter surrounded by multicolored torches.

Praying at it is another of the lizard men, but this one's skin is grey and white, instead of the healthy green the others have.

He hasn't noticed you.

He coughs and snorts
>"Hmm? What? Oh, sorry, I fell asleep again."

All the spiritualism dies in that sentence.

"My visit is not without it's purpose, though. Not many moons ago, I fought Umbra and his Diamond Army. I thought I was mighty, powerful, an unstoppable dance of steel and death. I couldn't have been more wrong. I managed to defeat him, barely pulled through thanks to Lord Hydra's power."

"I almost died on that primordial chaos of magma. That made me realize I had grown sloppy, comfortable, weak. Perhaps three years of vanquishing the same foes day after day, that mindless carnage, had made me lost my edge."
>>
>>21242801
>"I gave my hammer to a young monk traveling away, he needed it more than me. At the bottom of the sea? Then I'm afraid he never made it to land."

>"The lizard folk? They're an old race, older than men, but younger than the elves. They came from the seas, to spread Hydra among those who lived dry lives. They were seen as monsters and killed in droves, until they hid themselves in plain sight in the chapels."

>>21242820
>"A fine weapon, it came from my grandfather. As for me? I may look like the lizardfolk, but I'm not one of them. In my hay day I was Dust the Dragon Knight, truth be told I just had a skin disorder. But because of it I felt no pain and was a sight to behold on the battle field during the God Wars. Though I feel you've topped me on that one."

Dust looks over his shoulder at SpiderDan and the monk.

>"Monk Salier, we're going to speak in private for a while, I hope you don't mind."

>"Of course not, high monk Dust."

>>21242862
Dust has a dry laugh.
>"Oh yes, I know all about your new prayer form. I can't tell you how many have come here, and during a service they stand up and get down. The others frown upon it, personally, I love it. Prayer is a form of thanks and communication, it shouldn't be boring and a chore."

>"Your edge? Champion Daniel, I know a warrior worthy of his title when I see one. Do you truly think anyone but the best could defeat a diamond army, and a lich by themselves? Well, if I was a hundred years younger..."

Dust laughs at his little joke, but it's soon followed by a coughing fit.

Probably not. He's a lazy sod who cares about his porn and his library and very little else.

I mean, i guess its not impossible, he can still move despite not having muscles
But is that so?

Just look at us.

Magic.
>>
We need not worry about Erik. As long as there's free trade in the world to produce new books and a sensual climate to make pornography profitable, he'll keep to himself enjoying his smut.

The only problem with such an idea is that only you know that he's a threat to the world, everyone else sees him as an incompetent Lich who loves erotica far too much.

I'm realizing just how dangerous Erik could actually be, didn't plan this a week ago...

What do you do?
>>
What did Erik actually raise us for?
Did he ever have a solid purpose in mind?
Also, If we're heading back home we should bring Erik back some exotic porn

We need to entrust someone with a massive cache of porn and instructions to bring it to Erik should news ever come of him going insane. I bet Areal could write the absolute smuttiest of smut. Enlist her aid. Only problem is we need to find something to barter with. Erik already has our soul, and we wouldn't want to sell that anyways.

Idea for a finale: Erik goes rogue and we go with him, burning and murdering shit like the Emperor and Darth Vader, then Clarice shows up and declares her love for us, and her love frees of from Erik, allowing us to slay him and in doing so freeing us from his control, giving us eternity with our beloved Clarice.
Or, maybe we murder her too and take over the world. Either way, possible ending.

Or....Since Rebecca has been reading up on necromancy....She destroys us, which breaks us of Erik's grip, then re-raises us. Seems like something the smug little shit would do.
>>
I've been wondering about something for a while now. What if Erik doesn't just read trashy erotica, but also writes it? If you think about it, it makes (some) sense. He has spent decades reading that stuff so it wouldn't be too far fetched to guess that he may have tried his hand at writing some.
>>
>>21243985
Well, you are the story man, after all.
>>
>>21243985
I wonder when Erik invents a new type of magic, pornomancy. We should totally suggest this to him.
>>
>>21243946
This is what we set out to accomplish!
We have brought in too many variables, things that would tip us against him!
If that was ever an option, that is.

We cannot be against him, for we are his minion. He didn't even care for the position and the power that much, it is our quest, that.
But through accomplishing certain steps we've come to realize that most of the magicians above him are just terrible dicks, so we're doing a favour for everyone by expunging them and reinstating a not-so-dickish lich in their place.
>>
>>21243985
Let's get home and start researching and asking around about the Oriatomancer. Arael ought to know more, she knows things, that's her gig.

You let Dan leave for his friends.

You walk into Areal boudoir without knocking. Because you're alpha and so what? She wont touch you.

She's sitting in her swivel chair, smoking.

They could be used for transportation, propulsion, brutal torture. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS"
>>
>>21244263
"The only way I can think of to straight-up murder his ass is with a well placed siege arrow, so I don't have to get too close. I guess what I'm asking is, will his charisma spells wear off after he dies, or is killing him going to turn the whole city against me?"

If we had skelecopters we could just send one to shred him

Then storm out.
Hmmm, thinking about the Retard God made me realize that perhaps his intervention would be useful when dealing with this new wizard. What good is the power of words when no one can understand you?

Perhaps an amulet or artifact that gives it's wielder a direct line to him, or overrides his mind... if so, the Champion of the Retards God could...

Or, maybe, a foreign army that doesn't speak his language. he shouldn't affect them, since they can understand. But, curses! it seems everybody speaks the universal language, Rigellian! Even so, maybe earplugs...
>>
I just realize how obvious Daniel's mental instability is.
He keeps returning to topics, jumping between unrelated topics and sending mixed messages. Even sometimes asking the same thing twice, if only in a different way.
Sometimes he stops the conversation only to return and start again.

In short. Daniel acts exactly like a character from a roleplaying game that goes for all options in a discussion.

We could always ask Erik to bind us to his will and tell us to go and kill the Oriatomancer
In that case, our will is not our own, and as much as we like him, it doesn't matter
Because Erik is at home, and Erik is the one he would need to convince

I don't think it's a matter of bone integrity, it seems to be more of an issue with the magical forces that keeps them together. When we attempt to reach RPMs that would allow for lift, the magical forces keeping us together would be pushed past there limits and that results in dansplosion.

THE HORSE THE HORSE MAN CHECK THE STABLES!
>>
>>21244647
So run a bar across his arms and strap them to it.
>>
We should pickup our shiny new arrows.
>>
>>21244561
We better go see if Stumbles has anything nice for us to wear.
Also we should totally thank him.

Stables.
>>
>>21244561
can we enchant the horse to have fire beneath his feet for him to fly? maybe some fear should be our near game... fear and dread. and dancing.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off if the horse is assembled wrong because Erik wasn't looking

I already did.

You leave the manor and walk to the stables.

Sure enough, there's a horse. There's a hole in the ground where it clambered out.

The skeletal horse doesn't realize it's actually dead.

It tries to eat some grass, but it just falls through the hole in the lower jaw.

>>21244669
You put a saddle on the horse and mount it.

>>21244672
Stumbles comes along to see what the commotion is and sees you on the pale horse.

>"Urm, Daniel? I've got your order..."
Stumbles hands you a brown paper package and strokes the horse.

You open it and find an exquisite pinstripe three piece suit.

>"Try not to scare anyone."

You give the horse a little spur and ride down into the town where you pick up your new arrows.

Each is two feet long, the tip shines in the daylight.

>"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave. The horse is scaring people."

You mount up once more, your saddlebags are full of arrows and Stumbles' cloths.

What do you do?
>>
>>21244761
See if you can interchange parts with the horse. You took that guy's jaw just fine, what else can you do? Also, see if you can get Adrian on board to help with reconnaissance
>>
>>21244761
FLY, MY GLORIOUS STEED. FLY OFF, TOWARDS THE TOWERING CITY OF STEEL.
>>
>>21244761
must enchant the horses hooves to fly... well we also want to dress our horse check if stumbles can make something for him then head off to our adventure!
>>
>>21244761
Armor up. Get our sword, hammer, and siege bow. Crack our knuckles and head to Insurgo.

As we're leaving give Rebecca a call on the conch and let her know that we love her and we hope she's having fun adventuring.
>>
>>21244761
"Hi-ho Silver! Away!" -into the sunset.
If one is available.
>>
>>21244792
Rebecca is learning necromancy. Convince her to make a skelecopter.
>>
>>21244761
Ride away and head to the docks, get dressed up then go talk to gerald about maps to get to the Carisma wizzard, see if he has any infromation about the area and if he needs anything done while were out there scouting around.

>skelecoptorhorse is a must now.
>>
>>21244805
She's even more tight-up than Areal.
And reasonable, to boot.

We should do this as soon as possible.

Perhaps pass by Stumbles and buy a cloak that allows us to disguise ourselves as a hobo? infiltrate the city without the horse, disregard costume ala Solid Snake when inside, then work our way through the city to a vantage point like some Assassin's Creed tacticool game. Once there, wait till the the occasion presents itself to kill the mage.
>>
>>21244761
maybe we can find some armorsmith to properly plate our steed? it will be a bit less spooky and a lot more awesome. Oh, and it's also an armor.

You only get silence on Rebecca's end of the conch.

>>21244858
>"HURF DURF"
The horse begins to spin, faster and faster, you feel yourself rise up off the ground.

The horse is screaming in fear. Eventually all its leg bones scatter into the town, shattering windows and stores.

You fall to earth on a legless horse, having only gotten 2 feet of lift off.
