Before your eyes were even completely open, you were already donning your armor, Rikar on one hip, and your spellbook on the other. With a glance out the window, you see that the archers are on the walls, firing wildly at something at the gates to Redglares' orders, and lizardmen with glaives in hand, standing behind orcish knights wielding longsword and tower shield, Nahzit ordering the knights into formation, locking their shields together.
Kaliel opened an eye.
"Morning, Ishy." She said, a pleased, content smile on her face. Then she noticed your expression, and sat up, holding the covers over herself, eyes widening. "Something wrong?"
>>
>>21254655
"Grandpa has come to visit."
>>
>>21254655
"Demon."
Then get out there.
>>
>>21254655
"Demon."
<Grayson, trouble.>
Get out there, quick.
After how badly he was injured last time he has to realise charging head on by himself is suicidal. That means something fishy is going on. And unknown dangers are the worst dangers.
>>
>>21254655
"Demons."
<We're under demon assualt. Full alert.>
>>
"Demons." You say.
"I...." She said, trailing off, and nodded, climbing out of the covers and into her living armor, which fastened itself around her, bony fingers serving as clasps, as long bat wings were conjured from her back, and long, sharp claws grew from her armor's hands. The armor's tail whipped this way and that. "I'm ready."
<We're under demon assault.> You say, to everyone in the castle, as you run down the stairs and out of the keep. Grayson materialized by your side. <Full alert.>
<Buh... what?> Zeke asked.
<I'm there.> Lea added.
When you get down to Nahzit, Leon, and Kristoph in the courtyard, the lizardman turns to you.
"It's only the one, your majesty." Nahzit said. "He's been coming straight here, not stopping for civilians, and it seems like our arrows are costing him something- they keep bursting into hellfire and turning into ash. We can keep it up for now, but we'll run out eventually."
>>
>>21254740
"Has he said anything? And why do we have so few arrows?"
>>
>>21254740
"Straight here? Is he fighting back at all?"
>>
>>21254740
"Stop firing until he shows that he's here for a fight, I'll attempt to speak with him."

>>
"Has he said anything? And why do we have so few arrows?"
"Well, we have few *now*." Kristoph said, black humor permeating his voice. "The dickhead keeps burning them. But no, he hasn't said anything. But he's the same one you stabbed in the eyes, from what little I saw. Hasn't said anything, though."
"Straight here? Is he fighting back at all?"
"No, not at all. But Redglare made the decision to open fire." Nahzit said, and looked to the gate.
"Stop firing until he shows that he's here for a fight." You say, and then you hear Redglare call something out to the archers. They each stop firing, and there was stillness.

There was sudden bang from the gate. And then a second, and a third.
"... Is he knocking?" Leon asked, his conjured blade already in his hand.
>>
>>21254794
"Maybe. It's possible that he's not here to fight at all."
Go up to the wall, yell down at him.
"Why are you here?"
>>
>>21254794
"This is just too weird. Don't let your guard down."
Let's go see what he wants.
>>
"Maybe." You say. "It's possible that he's not here to fight at all. But don't let your guard down."

You make your way to the top of the wall, stepping past the archers, and look down at the demon. There it stood, heavily built, enormous wings spanning from his back, and demonic talons digging into the ash beneath his feet. Six black horns stuck from his skull, and two wickedly hooked tusks from his mouth. Blind holes where his eyes should be spewed smoke, and large holes in the membranes of his wings slowly grew, the flesh turning to ash. The field around it was covered in missed arrows, and small spots of ash where they'd no doubt been disintegrated by hellfire.
"Why are you here?" You call.

The demon took a deep breath.
"I am here for vengeance." It responded, it's voice low, and animalistic- A feral voice.
It raised it's hand, and knocked on the gate again, never turning to face you.
>>
>>21254866
"Against whom?"
>>
Yeah, the correct answer was 'I'm here to grovel for forgiveness for all the terrible things I've done.' I don't think vengeance is an answer that gets him out alive.
>>
>>21254877
This is good.
>>
"Against whom?" You ask.
"The vengeance I speak of is yours." He said, spinning around to face you, standing up at the wall. The archers, on three sides of him, all up on the walls, drew their bows. "Magic, the power of magic, the eternal forces that my people mastered... once betrayed us." He said, his voice never changing from that low, low tone. "Millions died. Millions more gave themselves up so that others could live. In a single century, a great people were dead. The rest, the last... went mad. I went mad. I. Ego is my name. I am the husband of Instinct, and father to Intuition, who you know as Elizabeth. I have slaughtered worlds. I have ended lives. I have utilized blood magic, of the darkest kinds. I have created armies upon armies. I have murdered my own daughter with my own hand and spell. I have found madness and hunger and endless passion and power and I have found vengeance sweet as any other act and I have embraced all of it."
He shut his mouth for a moment, and only then do you realize that you're gripping Rikar so tightly that your knuckles are going white.
"Here I stand... to be killed, in the name of vengeance." He said. "My pride will not let me go quietly. Come, Consensus, you who knows yourself as Ishelda. Defeat me."
>>
>>21254962
"If that is what you desire, then it will be done."
>>
>>21254962
"I am not like you. I find no sweetness in vengeance."
>>
>>21255000
It's not about joy, it's about justice. He's basically asking for an assisted suicide as penance.
Remember, this is the same demon that destroyed Arcturus.
>>
>>21254962
>Consensus
Haaaaa! I see what you did there. Not that it was particularly hard to see.

"I do not desire vengeance, I would even be willing to forgive you.... Of course I doubt that's what you want."
>>
>>21254962
"I have no desire to kill you, despite what you've done in madness."
>>
>>21255017
And we hate him and shouldn't give him what he wants. Let him live and suffer for what he has done.
>>
>>21254962
I assume it's shaky voice time
"I... I do not find vengance satisfying, especially because of what I know of the Arakoatoa's plight..."
>>
"I am not like you." You say, softly. "I find no sweetness in vengeance. I do not desire vengeance. I would even be willing to forgive you."
"... Then I shall force you." He said. He raised his hand, and a long, hellflame blade appeared in it, as he saluted with it. "I name Mala'Khairos a dragon, of dragonkind, of the race slain to bar my maddened constructs from this world. I declare that compact with all the world, all the void, and all the umbra invalid, for Mala'khairos still lives."
In the back of your mind, you feel something go... 'kchnk'.
"When I die, so will the legions that will soon besiege this world." He said, his voice in that same low tone... a tone of finality. "You no longer have a choice."

Would that work? I mean, mala exist as a corpse-dragon already, and if he wasn't killed by the ubermagic of the sacrifice initially, why would his existence break it now?

You know, what's in a name, would an aberration by any other name smell just as foul?
>>
"So be it." You say, and rase your palm. You fire a beam of astral fire at him, and it simply tears into his flesh, making it bubble... but he doesn't dissolve into ash, like last time.
"I had to trek through the wastelands, far to the south, for I came to this world by awakening a dormant, blasted portal." He said. "That energy, the antithesis of my kin's shells will no longer affect me."

In response, you draw Rikar.
<Nobody interfere.> You say, over the rings, and then you step over the edge of the wall, your armor glowing as it took the impact from the ground. You charge toward him, and swing your blade at him. The demon whirls about, and parries the blow, his hellflame growing darker as Rikar burned it with astral fire.
"So you just get to decide what I am just like that, then?" You ask.
"No. You choose what you are. You chose consent. Unity. Consensus. Agreement. You took barbarians and savages who knew not what forces they were using and you took many different peoples and you built this nation."
>>
>>21255190
Mala disowned that title as dragon. The demon just called bullshit on it.
>>
>>21255190
Because he wasn't a dragon.

You grit your teeth, and whip your blade forward, where he catches it easily on his own blade, knocking it away. Continually, you strike, but he stands there, almost completely stationary, as if he can tell where you're going to be.
"They're my friends and you are a terrible terrible grandfather." You say, gritting your teeth. "You are about to die, yet you are the only one I can ask this. Tell me about my mother."
"Your mother never went mad." He said, and slammed his sword down on your blade, jarring your hand. You try to draw on your magic, to become faster, and stronger, but he's increased his offensive, forcing you to focus on Rikar instead of your own magic. "She was the gravekeeper. The one who stayed on our world, to prepare as the entire world died. To bury our dead. And then she left, and rutted with a savage."

Fury claws it's way up your throat, and you charge, just too quick for the demon to move. You knock away his blade, and with a single, long slash, you remove his entire arm and a portion of his wing.

"Good." He said, as charred bones start sprouting from his empty stump, regrowing a skeletal, thin arm. "You are feeling it. I killed your people. I killed all of them. Every imp you've seen, every hellknight who slayed every savage you've ever cried for... that was all me."

And then suddenly, out of his other arm, there was... a second hellflame sword, already swinging down toward you.

>>

He is a selfish coward. But we're trying not to get angry.
>>
In a long arc, you tear Rikar across the demon's blades, knocking both of them away, and then you pounce, jabbing his shoulder with the artifact blade.
Rikar thrummed, and started buzzing, as the demon's arm and shoulder was entirely shorn off.
It didn't regrow, this time, ash falling from the stump. Whatever his powerful constitution came from, you were whittling it away.
The demon headbutted you, knocking you away, but luckily none of the sharp points of his horns pierced you. You skid back, and the demon dismissed the second blade.
Instead, he knelt, his legs and arm twisting, and next you knew he was a beast missing a leg, rather than a humanoid missing an arm.
"You are selfish." You say. "You think that me killing you will atone for for anything, that forcing me to take vengeance will somehow make things right. You are scum and I disown you." You say, snarling at him. "There is no place for you here."
"You are no kin of mine." He said, a perverse echo of what you heard many weeks ago, from your own mother. "Intuition said that."

You make to strike again, and suddenly the beast flaps his wings, leaping out of the way, faster than something that speed should even be able to move. He rears back, and gets ready to pounce.

Reason Ishy should be anger is because he forced her to do this instead of finding some other way to atone or whatever he's looking for.

Powerfully corded legs push off of the ground as the demon pounces, and you leap, pouring magic into your own limbs. You shoot into the air, spinning, and he lands just below you. You bring the point of Rikar down, and land with the artifact shortsword, stabbing into the demon's back. It roars, quaking, and you pull the blade back, trying to stab and slash again, mounted on the demon's back. You spare a look to the sky-
And instantly regret it. You see an enormous hole in the sky, stars of another world staring back at you. The demon bucks, and you go falling to the side, as the trembling demon stood again, returning to his humanoid form, weakening. His dismembered wings fell from his back, dissolving into ash. He took a deep breath, and clenched his fist again, as the hellflame sword appeared, and he started to take a step forward-

At least, until his head snaps back, and three of his horns go falling, slashed off by something invisible, a long scar of ash growing across his face.
<I missed, just barely.> Lea said, and flickered into view behind him. You see her wearing her old cloak, with Azariel's enormous, one-edged sword in her hands.

"Outsider." He snarled, suddenly looking behind himself, toward where Lea was. "You don't belong here."
"I belong." She responded. "And that's all I've ever wanted."
He turned his head back to you, and pounced, bringing down his hellflame blade. You parry it easily as the demon whirled about and parried a second invisible blow.

While he's distracted, you bring Rikar forth, the shortsword tearing through the air next to his leg just as he charges Lea, bowling toward her, out of the way of Rikar.
"She belongs more than you." You say. "She had the courage to face what she had done, and make a new start." You say.

And then you sneer, as he turns toward you.
"You can't even die by yourself." You say, and clench your fist. You jab it toward him, magic power wracking your body, and the magic slams into him, bowling him over and crunching into his ribcage. Lea flickers into existence again, slashing off his legs with her oversized sword, before vanishing again.

"You're right." He said, in a low, pitiful voice. He stared up at the sky, and the hole up through which was quickly filling with demons. "I can't."
He let go of his hellflame sword, and brought his hand up toward his chest. Clenching his remaining hand, you feel enchantment magic tear out of him, and impossibly complex spell. A... spark, one that reminded you of Grayson.
He let go of it, and you get the feeling that he's looking at you.

The demon screeches, and the enormous hole in the sky was suddenly... gone, the clouds in their place.
The demon's last remaining hand twitched, and he laid back, relaxing. Ash started boiling away at his eyes, and his stumps, his body slowly dissolving. At the last moment, he took the wrist of your hand, holding it tightly, holding the blade inside himself.
"This spark belonged to your mother." He mumbled. "I stole it from her, when I killed her with this hand. It is yours. To the void, I go."

And then he was gone. An empty shell, slowly dissolving into ash. The spark still floated there, perfectly stationary.

Then commune with the spark, try to talk to it. Don't touch it. Also call Kal and let her know that a body might be needed. Give her the image of what it should look like.
>>
>>21255878
She was. That doesn't mean that the spark isn't something that Grandpappy kept as a keepsake/war trophy after killing her.
>>
"This... this spark was mother's." You say.
You close your own eyes, and examine it, feeling toward the spark. It was familiar... but it was broken. Snapped threads of enchantment lay there, half weaved, kept safe and in stasis by the demon's own soul until just now, quickly unweaving again.
Lea looked down at it, and gasped, trying to examine it with magic. "Is it?"
"No." Something said, behind you. Grayson's tail twitched, as he stared down at it. "It is... mine. My... damaged parts. My memories."
>>
>>21255923
"Do you want it back? I think it will come undone soon."
>>
>>21255923

Also use control magic to keep it from unraveling.
>>
>>21255923

>>
>>21255923
Interesting. Can we do something about the unweaving? Control magic or such.

"What would happen to you if you took this part back? Will it change who you are now?"
>>
>>21255923
"Then you should reclaim it, Grayson."
>>
"Do you want it back?" You ask. "I think it will come undone soon."
"... Yes." He said, as you reach toward it, using your own magic to keep it from unraveling. He hesitated, and slowly stepped closer, and then touched it with his nose. There was a flash, and you felt it vanish into him, coiling with his own spark.
Lea, meanwhile, conjured a powerful spell, and then waved her arms... and the wind took the ash into the air, dispersing it.
"There." She said. "No burial, no gravestone, no nothing for that bastard."
Grayson trembled, and then started shivering. His whiskers seemed to droop.
"... I would like a hug." He said, suddenly, something heavy in his voice.

"You don't even have to ask." You say, and pull Grayson into the biggest hug you've ever managed, Lea dropping her sword to do the same, as Grayson shivered, and then licked your nose, the cat-tongue bristles scratching at you as he did, his tail twitching. He reared up on his hind legs, and pulled the two of you into an enormous hug, as you feel the tiny pricks of his claws half-unsheathing.
"Thank you." He said, and took a deep breath. He was no longer shivering, but his tail continued to twitch. "I can... I can explain later."

I... I'm not sure I understand the concept you're trying to get across here.
>>
"Whenever you're ready, Grayson." You say, and he licked Lea's face as well. "Take as long as you need."
A long, long moment later, you turn back to the gate.
"Open the gate!" you call, and the two portaculli on either side of the gate pulled into the top of the wall, and the gates warily opened, knights prepared for anything to come through. As soon as they relaxed, though, Kristoph approached, and you feel your magic suppress for a moment, as he nullified magic on all three of you.
"Okay." He said. "I had to make sure you weren't, y'know, illusions or something."
>>
Hey wait. Now that the sacrifice is completely destroyed, we can use our dragon form!
>>
>>21256131

What's wrong with illusions? Grayson's a spell, and he's great. He can't help the way he was born. Kristoph is just being spellist.

YAY FOR BECOMING THE DOCTOR
>>
"It was a good precaution." You say. "The archdemon is gone, the legions of demons are destroyed. The guard can return to normal duties."
You make your way back into the courtyard, and see a massive berecien, with what looked like the lower body of a spider, enormous, bladed limbs, as the creature drooled something glowing, with spikes on it's abdomen and shoulders.
"... Oh, it's over?" Kaliel asked. "... Okay."
She touched the creature, and it withered, eventually shrinking and vanishing.
"I'm going back to bed." You say, and grab Kaliel's wrist. "It's too early for this sort of thing."
"Sleep well." Lea said. "I'm going to go have some more swamp brew."
"Amen." Leon said. "Mind if I have some with you?"
"Go ahead, I don't care." Lea said.

You drag Kaliel off to your bedroom, peeling off your armor.

You wake up again, Kaliel reading in bed, a spark in her palm, as she leaned back, using the light to read. The curtains are drawn, but you see sunlight poking underneath.
"... Are you feeling a bit better?" Kaliel asked, kissing you on the forehead.
>>
>>21256244
Doctor's over 1200
He just reset his age after killing Daleks and Time Lords.
He was around 1100+ at what, 6th incarnation?
>>
"I need a hug, and some tea, please."
>>
>>21256270
"Did you read all day and night?"
>>
>>21256291
That sounds like a good start.
>>
>>21256270
>"... Oh, it's over?" Kaliel asked. "... Okay."

She seems so disappointed.

"Better. Could use some tea though."
>>
>>21256270
I think I'm alright. We should talk to mala though, and find out exactly what the sacrifice of the dragons was meant to do, and if its still relevant. I might be able to give myself a new title.
>>

"I just hacked my own too-sane-for-his-own-good, formerly demonic grandfather to bits and scattered his ashes to the wind, parting with him about as horribly as I could. So... No, I'm not feeling much better. Why couldn't he just be forgiven?"
>>
"I need a hug, and some tea, please." You say, and she pulls you into a warm, soft hug, before holding her hand out to a teacup on the desk, next to a dormant Lil'bubbles. She handed it to you, and then pulled you into her lap, arm wrapped around the waist.
"Did you read all day and night?" You ask.
"It's only been a few hours." She said, kissing you. You sipped at your tea. "But I've been reading since then, yes. Grayson's sleeping on our feet, if you didn't notice."
You look down, and see Grayson snoozing at the foot of the bed, draped completely over it, drooling.
"He wanted to stay in here after you fell asleep." She explained.
>>
>>21256340
No, he reset his age with 9th
>>
>>21256350
"We got the rest of his spark back. I don't know what he learned, but I think it upset him pretty badly."
>>
>>21256350
"Ugh, stupid old man. Why did he have to make me do it?"
>>
>>21256350
It's strange how he's a cat again, after being a bear for so long.

I'm sorry about fighting without you, but its something I had to do.
>>
"I'm sorry about fighting without you, but it's something I had to do."
"I know, Ishelda." She said, squeezing your hand.
"I just hacked my own too-sane-for-his-own-good, formerly demonic grandfather to bits, and scattered his ashes to the wind, parting with him about as horribly as I could." You say, and close your eyes. "Why couldn't he just be forgiven? Why did he have to make me do it?"
"... Maybe he couldn't forgive himself." She said. "Maybe he... wanted to make amends, to apologize, and dying was the only way he could do that."

You give Grayson a glance.
"It's strange how he's a cat again, after being a bear for so long." You say. "We got the rest of his spark back. I don't know what he learned, but I think it upset him pretty badly."
"I think so too." She said, and pulled the sleeping Grayson into a hug as well. "But the best we can do is be here for him."
>>
>>21256464
I should address everybody, and tell them what happened. But I want to stay here for a while. Maybe just 5 more minutes?

Yesterday, when we were with lea, you said you had realised something, what was that?
>>
>>21256464
"Of course. He was always there for me."
"Dying doesn't make amends. It doesn't make anything better. It just makes me feel horrible."
>>
>>21256464
But why, kaliel? There's good in everyone, all my journeys have told me this. Why couldnt he just be forgiven.
>>
>>21256562
"... Maybe he couldn't forgive himself."
>>
>>21256562
What about that blood mage? Was there good in him?
>>
>>21256600
Yes, he was doing it so he could free all the slaves.
>>
>>21256618
Neither of the blood mages we've met were doing that. One openly owned slaves and the other kept slaves, but made it look like he wasn't.
>>
>>21256618
No, he was making his own slaves to take over the rest of the elves with an iron fist.
>>
>>21256618
Are you retarded?
>>
>>21256638
>>21256646
>>21256656
I don't even need to address that now. Thanks.
>>
"Of course. He was always there for me."
"... He was there for me, too." Kaliel said. "Back when... when I didn't have enough confidence."

You close your eyes, and lay back. "Dying doesn't make amends. It doesn't make anything better. It just makes me feel horrible."
"I never said that was the truth." She said. "I just said... that may be what he thought."
She closed her eyes as well, and squeezed your hand again, sliding underneath the covers with you again.
"He didn't give you a choice." She said. "I heard that, during the fight. With those words, he made his own choice, right then."
>>
>>21256680
"I wouldn't let that happen. He knew that, which is why he did it. But now I can use my dragon form, so small blessings I suppose."
>>
>>21256680
I had to, your right. I just didn't Like it at all.

Can you be a cat thing again? You're cute when you purr.
>>
>>21256680
"Enough confidence? What do you mean?"
>>
>>21256680
"I know. He was a jerk to the very end."
>>
>>21256680

"I know, he broke the sacrifice to force my hand. To force me to do what he wanted."

Just a thought did he really break the sacrifice? I mean he called out Mala but would that have been enough to break it?
>>
>>21256760
The portals were already opening during the fight. That sacrifice is gone.
>>
>>21256769
Right, forgot about that. Damn you short term memory.
>>
>>21256760
We heard a big magic crack. And then a giant portal full of demons opened in the sky. This points to it being broken.
>>
"I wouldn't let that happen." You say. "He knew that, which is why he did it. I just didn't like it at all."
You closed your eyes.
"Can you be a cat thing again?" You ask. "You're cute when you purr."
"Well, if you want." She said. She closed her eyes for a moment, and ears sprouted from her head, a feline tail suddenly curling around your leg.
"... Lil' Bubbles, can you go to the kitchen and then ask the cooks for lunch for two people, and then wait for it to be made and placed on you, and then come back here?" She asked, turning to the golem. It clanked off.
"Enough confidence? What do you mean?"
"I wouldn't have told you how I felt if it wasn't for Grayson." Kaliel said. "He cornered me, and I thought it was to finally kill me because of my magic... and then instead we had a conversation."
She closed her eyes.
"Do you... do you want to stay in here all day? Have a sleepy day? The clouds came back anyway, and it might start raining again."

"I know! I can even call myself part dragon! That'll be fun." You say. You give her a grin, and then close your eyes, focusing, as white scales burst from your back, in the form of wings and a tail, as two small horns sprouted from your head. You feel your canines lengthen, and your eyes subtly shift, as your muscles thin and become more... lithe, as the shapeshift goes through.
Kaliel giggled. "I have to learn that form." She said, snuggling closer. You embrace her with your wings, and the two of you pull eachother close. "You do look really pretty as a part-dragon." She said, kissing you.

When you come to again, the light under the curtains had dimmed, and Kaliel was fast asleep, completely, utterly exhausted- but you were still awake. You look over to lil'bubbles, who was dormant, scraps still on the plate on his back, and then to Grayson, who was snoring in the corner of the room. You close your eyes to sleep, but you know that it'll be nearly impossible, because of how you slept in so late and spent the rest of the day... mostly relaxing.

You give Kaliel a kiss, and she starts purring softly, absentmindedly kissing you back, before you give her a squeeze, before her tail wrapped tightly around your wrist, making it impossible to remove your hand from her butt. It took more kissing to coax her tail away from your wrist, and then you tucked her in, making your way over to your pile of clothing, trying to find some underclothes that fit with your tail. Your strange legs felt like you were constantly walking with your heels in the air, something Kaliel had gleefully called 'digitigrade', or something similar. Finally, you steal Kaliel's robe, sure she wouldn't mind, and poke your wings through the slits, before leaving the room.

Soaring through the sky, you eventually find Nahzit worriedly patrolling the walls, looking this way and that. You land next to him, and he jumps.
"Mothe- Your majesty." he said, nodding to you.

"Hello, Nahzit." You say, unused to your serpentine tongue as you spoke. "Are you worried about more demons attacking?"
"Yes, and no." He said. "I'm worried that... we saw it coming, we knew he was coming, and even with archers we couldn't take him out until you arrived."
He looked out over the city. "So I'm just pacing until I put my mind at ease. He didn't fight the main of our army, and I'm sure with enough blades we would have taken him down."

"He was a lot stronger than most demons would be." You say. "I don't think the demons will ever be a problem again, however, so don't worry about it too much."
"And the statue." Nahzit said, finally. "The statue was what warned me. It... shook, as if hesitating to do something, and then calmed itself. That's what prompted me to rouse the archers."
"He was a tough foe. He destroyed my entire world. He would never have gotten so far if a few arrows could stop him. But there shouldn't be any more foes like that."
"I'm glad." He said, closing his eyes. "In an ideal world, I'd have no job. No need for a military commander with no combat."

>>
"An ideal world is beyond even my power. But I do my best."
"Then that's all that remains to me, is to do my best as well." He said, and stretched. "I do believe it's past time for me to retire for the night. I'll see you in the morning, your majesty."
He bowed, and then took off toward the nearest tower.

Suddenly, you hear giggling on the grounds, as two women lay there, drunk out of their minds. Lea lay there... and what looked like a rainbow-colored female Leon, her hair extensively braided.

"Rawr."
"Ohmygod it's a dragon!" Lea said, and started giggling. She held out a bottle of swamp brew. "Here, dragon, a peace offering!"
In return, you rouse your magic, and point at her, turning her hair just as rainbow as Leonia's.
"Beware, foul dragon." Leonia said, chuckling. "I am a knight!"
"Ess. You're a knightess." Lea said, giggling and laying on her back.
"Oh, right! I need to fix that."

"... this is rather humiliating." Leon said.
After dumping them off in their rooms, you go wandering, and eventually make your way into the dining hall, wandering, and you see all of the tables and chairs smacked up against the wall, pushed out of the way, and then Jay and Aeriel working on a strange, orichalum and goldsteel archway.

"Okay, I'll help." You say. "Where's the other end going to come out?
"Okay, one second." he said, and went at the wall with some chalk, writing rune after rune. "Technically, the final form will be two waygates connected, but until we get the second one done it'll just be the one and these markings." he said, before finally drawing a large archway with it. "There. Fire away." He said.
You reach up to the core at the top of the archway, inside the keystone, and focus, closing your eyes, drawing power from your body and pushing it into the archway.

Aeriel cleared his throat, and spoke a single word of power, and the archway... gleamed, before the inside of it became a portal, another portal appearing on the wall, where he'd drawn the runes. Aeriel stepped through, and suddenly you were tired as he came out the other side, and it closed.

He scratched at his chin a bit, and then yawned. "Well, it's actually rather late, now. You want a portal to the prism, Jay?"
"Er, yeah, that'd be best." She said.
He nodded, and waved his arm. A portal appeared underneath her, and she fell into it. He waved his arm again at the archway, and it vanished as well.
"So, Ishelda, how are you feeling? Other than, uh, scaled.

We've already discussed this with Kali. Even if you shift to a form that lives longer, your lifespan stays the same. Otherwise we could just shift to kalak form and live for 1000 years.

"I'm feeling pretty good, actually." You say. "This morning was hard, but now there can be dragons again."
"And you're enjoying your new form." He said.
"This form is fun!" you say, and whip your tail, and then you sigh. "I just wish stuff like that would wait until at least lunch time."
"Yeah, but I don't think that archdemon paid much attention to the time. Maybe if you were polite and asked him to come back in half a day..." He said.

He shrugged.
"You bet I am. Let's see how being a half-dragon affects alcohol."
"Not at all, I bet." He said, and cast another spell on the tables, moving them back to their arranged location, pulling fancy glasses from thin air. He popped the cork on the wine, and then poured you some.

You hesitate a moment, and then you touch him, focusing... and then you see his form twist, and then he was a young man with a long face, and a hooked nose, his hair gray.
"... Thank you." He said, licked his lips, and drank some more wine.
"So, what did you think of Lea?" You ask.
"Lea is, in very many ways, still the void queen." He said. "I spent some time with her this morning, after you went back to sleep. She doesn't want anybody to know how much of her power still remains. I don't think she intends to use it, either."

"Oooh, who do you think has more? Probably her, but I do like to think I'm the most powerful sorceress alive."
"Her own sorcery is weakened, I think." He said. "That's why she had to have me teach her translocation, because she'd said 'I'm no longer strong enough' when I was first put into the Cage."

"I'm not sure about inter-realm waygates." He said. "I'll have to do some more research for that, and maybe get Lea's advice to be sure. But if it's possible, I will."
He leaned back, running his hand through his hair.
"Being human is weird." He said. "I have these big blubbery things hanging over my beak, and having no wings is rather strange."

You know, unless we teach others, we're the only ones who can make these gates. We can completely outdo any other nation in terms of high speed transport of things. We should probably set one up in Sosaria, by the largest ports and trading cities, turn New Arcturus into the nexus that all of the trade revolves around."

"I like the High Gatekeeper idea." He said. "And I don't really care about how much, it's just the principle of the matter. >>
>>21260153
That's why we make our 'Express Shipping' ludicrously expensive. It's great for very valuable or very small items, but bulk shipping is still more economic to do the old fashioned way.
Then, over the course of a century or two, we lower the cost of the waygates citing magicalogical breakthroughs requiring less power per pound or something like that.

Or we could monopolize and rape the global economy, burning our friends and allies until they refuse to trade with us any longer. And that's when we come through the waygate and then turn into a dragon.

I'm told that this method is called 'hostile negotiations'.
>>
>>21260229
No it won't. Because they can go from A to New Arcturus and then New Arcturus to B a hell of a lot faster than they can get straight from A to B.

But it would still take less time (and probably money) to ship it to New Arcturus, and then reship it from there through another Waygate.

"Have fun." He said, leaning back again. "I have a few more bottles, so I'll just finish this one alone. Sleep well."

As you leave the room, making sure to keep your tail as low as possible, you see Aeriel start drinking out of the bottle itself, foregoing the glasses completely.

You make your way out of the castle, making sure to inform the ever-alert gate guards, and then wander about the city. There doesn't seem to be a moon tonight, so it's dark, ever so dark. Eventually, you find yourself sitting down at the base of the monument, staring up at the stars. The constellations always struck you as strange, ever so strange, ever since you left Arcturus. I get to watch this kingdom that I built grow, I look forward to spending my life with you and with my friends. I look forward to starting a family, eventually."
"Everything." She said, leaning close to you.
"Everything." You respond.
Suddenly, you felt her heartbeat, pounding strongly, only to find that your own was beating at the same rate.
She closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, like she was about to say something...

And then you saw Aeriel in human form, in finery, a human woman underneath each arm, and two bottles of swamp brew, the three of them in good cheer, as they stepped out of the bar and made their way toward a nearby dome.

And then you notice that he doesn't have the hole in the side of his head.
Kaliel giggled. "That's some ladies' man, right there." She said.
>>
>>21261442
"I think that's actually Gehenna. He doesn't have the hole in his head, see?"
>>
>>21261442
Holy shit Gehenna.
"Don't you recognise him? I thought you could see through shapeshifting."
>>
>>21261442
"I'm still handsomer than him when I'm a man."
>>
We should try being male half-dragon next.
>>
>>21261531
I misread that as 'banging' for a moment.
>>
"Don't you recognize him? I thought you could see through shapeshifting."
"It's too dark." She responded. "And he's shapeshifted?"
"I think that's actually Gehenna." You say.
"Gehenna? No way!" She said, jaw open. She looked over to the three of them as they opened the door and went through.
"No, seriously. I refuse to believe that." She said, and giggled. "That's not Gehenna. That's... outside the realm of possibility. No way."
>>
>>21261483
>Holy shit Gehenna.
this bit, not the other bit.
>>
>>21261549
But he looks JUST like human-Ariel.

Those ladies must have some precise measurements or something.
>>
>>21261549
"I was just drinking with Aeriel back in the castle, and gave him a human form that looks EXACTLY like that in order to better use the glass. Only his has a hole in the side of his head for the Cage."
>>
>>21261549
"Well he looks just like Aeriel, and when I talked to him earlier, Gehenna told me he was the kind of busy that involves preening."
>>
>>21261549
"It's him! When I tried to contact him on the rings earlier he was drunk and 'busy'. And that man looks exactly the same as when I turned Aeriel human, only without a big hole in his head."
>>
>>21261549
"It's him alright. When he takes some time off he really takes that time off.

Tell me I'm handsomer than him when I'm a man."
>>
"I was just drinking with Aeriel back in the castle, and gave him a human form that looks *exactly* like that, in order to better use the glass. Only his has a hole in the side of his head for the Cage." You say. "When I tried to contact him on the rings earlier, he was drunk, and told me he was the kind of busy that involves preening."
Kaliel broke into giggles. "He actually said that? I didn't even know he *has* a libido."
"Those ladies must have some precise measurements or something." You say, and giggle. "When he takes some time off, he *really* takes that time off. Tell me I'm handsomer when I'm a man."
"You're handsomer when you're a man." She said, immediately. "You're also handsomer when you're a woman. And a dragon. You're just always handsome and or pretty and all of the above."
>>
>>21261638
"That's sweet. What were you going to say before Gehenna so rudely interrupted?"
>>
>>21261638
"So... want to ride me through the night?"
I am of course referring to activating the dragon crystal and going flying with her like we promised ages ago.
>>
>>21261638
"Well I meant over the ring to freak him out a bit but I accept this also.

Hey, before Gehenna came out of the bar, looked like you had something to say...I'm curious as to what?"
>>
>>21261681
Fuck that, get'er teen pregnant.
>>
>>21261638
"Strange. Now where were we?"

Kiss her tenderly.
>>
>>21261750
Kalak can't get teen pregnant, puberty doesn't happen until well after the teens.
>>
"That's sweet." You say. "What were you going to say before Gehenna so rudely interrupted?"
"I was just going to tell you that I love you." She said. You give her a long, tender kiss to tell her what you think of that.
"So..." You say. "Want to ride me through the night?"
"Yes." She responded, giving you a grin. "Which kind of riding do you mean?"

In response, you activate your dragon crystal, swelling, your wings bursting from your back further, as your hands became talons, and as your entire body grew...
And Kaliel climbed atop you, clinging tightly to the base of your neck.

With a deep breath, you pounded your wings, and shot off, into the sky.
The sacrifice was broken... and now you were a dragon.

>End of thread!
>>
>>21261779
Equivalent teen pregnant then.
>>
>>21261779
She's the equivalent of 16 though,so it still fits.
>>
>>21261839
They don't even get pregnant, they lay eggs.
>>
>>21261865
She's in human form. And they don't lay eggs unless fertilized, which means pregnant still fits, since they have to carry the fertilized egg for a while before laying it.
>>
>>21261821
All right, where the hot dragon dick at? We need to repopulate the species. Kal won't mind, it's for a good cause.
>>
>>21262108
Dragons don't actually have dicks. Just cloacas. They aren't physiologically programmed to find sex enjoyable. And now you know why solu'nox never went dragon after he became Dave.
>>
>>21262415
>They aren't physiologically programmed to find sex enjoyable.
Wha- how did they not die out? Well they did, but before that.
>>
Rolled 40

>>21262415
Ha!
>>
>>21262475
Cold logic and sudden urges that were of the "not particularly nice so let's get this over with" style.
And/or magic.
>>
>>21262475
They laid eggs in large clutches, and they had certain urges at certain times that were unavoidable, or very discomfortable to ignore.
Also, in ancient, tribal dragon history, the broodmothers and alphas with the most young were more dominant, so it was always seen as 'the more children you have, the higher class you are'. Anu was pretty pathetic in that regard.
>>
>>21262552
>they got an urge and then *had* to have sex quickly to make it go away
>no chance of the other party enjoying it
So they basically reproduced entirely through rape?
>>
>>21262655
The other party probably had the same urges.
In fact, considering it was mostly to make the feeling go away, they probably just had sex with whoever else was feeling the same, regardless of gender (unless they were trying to have kids of course)
>>
>>21262655
Where did you get 'quickly' from, anon? I think you're making things up.
>>
>>21262552
Hmm, if they laid eggs in clutches Solu'nox must have had siblings. But I guess they're all irrelevant and long-dead.
What was he king of, anyway? Everything else we've heard has had dragons ruled by a council.
>>
>>21262715
Urges are:
>Unavoidable
>You immediately rape the nearest thing
or
>Very uncomfortable to ignore
>You'd want to get rid of it as quickly as you could
>>
>>21262971
During war-time, the council chose a king to make the hard decisions, and to essentially take the blame if anything went wrong.
>>
>>21263178
But if the kings were elected then there was no heir. And Solu disappeared after killing his father, so he can't have been elected. So how come his sorcery activated? It must have been before Arcturus because Mala knew about it.
>>
>>21263288
That's, a, uh, good point. I'm pretty bad with keeping things consistent. .. Let's just say that the Circle (the draconic council) was a group of advisors/wizards/nobles who meddled in everything, despite the existence of the king.
