You are Sir Daniel, an old hero long dead, or were, until Erik the Lich resurrected you to be his helper.

Fortunately, Erik is the laziest man you've ever known, and only wants to read erotica. But you're a good servant, and want to help your master by clearing the ladder to the top.

Last time you learnt of the location of your next target, a steel city on the shore half a world away.

You left the manor house with SpiderDan, not to find the steel city, but to discover the history of your faith.

You and SpiderDan set off across the seas until you found the First Church of Hydra.

You docked on the rock in the waves and entered the church.

Inside lizardmen went about their business, and one led you down below the waves to the Old Altar and the high monk.

The high monk was actually a former champion, Dust the Dragon Knight.

You and Dust had a little chat, and then you went out to find the physical form of your God.

You and Hydra had a little chat.

You left the church and went back to Gallowmere, you had some talk with Areal about the charisma wizard in the steel city.

After that you got Erik to revive a horse for you to use.

You rode your new steed into town to get your new arrows.

A quick prayer to the Retard God turned your horse into a skelehorsecopter, and using such a retarded mount actually destroyed it.

You have reassembled the pieces of your skelehorse, and purchased armour for it to disguise it.

You are standing in Gallowmere, with your armoured horse in one piece.

What do you do?

You hear a fumbling and several curse words.

>"Uncle? Did you put one of those conchs in my pack?"

"Yes."

>"That's creepy, Uncle. But it's going fine, we had a few bandits try to loot the caravan, we drove them off without trouble. There's some wolves following us, eating leftovers, they're no bother. We should arrive at the docks in a few days."

You hear her stuff socks into the conch.

That's a rather flattering picture, did you get it off my AOL?

If you wish to cross the green ocean you'll need a ship. Will you go south to your own one, or will you join a crew on the western shore to travel with?

>>21256756
There are many people down on their luck in Mort's club, anyone could prove to be a good traveling companion for you.

You don't know Rebecca's exact location to kidnap her from, and if you did, she'd never stop bitching.

(perhaps there'll be an opportunity for more docking)

Maybe a feminine robot (or golem or steam knight, whatever) who needs to be taught the true meaning of what it is to be alive.
>>

You are already the most dominant man in the town, none would dispute that fact.

You go down to Mort's bar and find the biggest bloke you can find.

"Where do you keep your purse?"

>"Hurr?"

You nut him between the eyes, splitting his nose apart and sending him sprawling to the floor.

His carer comes running up and shouts at you.

>"Why are you hitting the mentally infirm?!"

It seems that he was big because he had some problems. A bit like Lenny from Of Mice and Men. Good job.

>>21256810
You look around the bar, no one wants to meet your gaze, lest they bring your wrath down upon them.

"Any one willing to come with me to Insurgo?"

No answer.

You repeat yourself, this time louder.

You kick your horse into movement.

You ride out of the town and into the setting sun.

The horse lets you move a considerable speed faster than usual and you arrive at the Western docks within a day and a half of riding.

The western docks are bigger than the southern and eastern, as they're a major trading hub, like the Kerm of the ocean.

There are hundreds of ships in the port, and most of them look well worn from the sea.

But at the end of the pier there are smaller ships, still large, that you wouldn't give a second glance.

>>21257041
You take a look around the merchant stalls, so far everyone seems pretty human. If the non-humans were here, they'd probably come out and night, when they don't have to worry about being seen.

Most of the stalls are selling sea food, some fruit and vegetables.

There's a blacksmith banging out a sword in his forge. You see he has made many chains for anchors.

But overall his wears are made from cheap iron and wouldn't hold up for your needs.

You go to a tavern, The Drunk Dugong.

You ask about for information on the remaining 4.

>"Well there was that, no, wait, he's dead too..."
One patron says.

>"What happened to that Salin fellow? Maybe you could try him!"

It would seem you'll get no help from drunken sailors.

That would be silly, counter productive, and would make us insanily visable on what's supposed to be a sneaking mission.

there is most likely a reason. i mean why not?

>>21257406
Because he's already got one ocean to deal with? He's still a startup, after all. He'd want to get firmly established in the south before expanding.
>>
>>21257367
You have asked Erik before, he doesn't know who they are, but Areal has given you one, the one you are heading to.

>>21257372
You wait around until night, but you are the most inhuman thing around, apart from your horse.

The sun rises again and you have spent the night looking for other non-humans, and found none. A highly human populated area is perhaps not the best choice to look for one.

>>21257386
Gerald is pretty new to trading empire, and the other, much older families have kept him out of the bigger areas, such as the western port on the green seas (Your location).

You enter a charter's building and ask for passage to Insurgo. There's no commercial vessels heading that way, but there are trading galleys.

There are three ships going out to get iron ore and steel ingots.

"They can try, the thing's nothing but bones."

The joke passes right over the mans head as he adds you to the ship's log and crew list.

>"You'll have to work, you know. Probably night watch and guard."

"No problem."

You leave the charterer's building and go to the piers and find the ship you'll be traveling on.

A large trading galley, but all the colour's been worn away by the sea spray.

You lead the horse up the ramp and onto the Iron Ocean.

The captain tells you to put the horse in the hold below deck.

You do so, below deck is filled with animals, goats and pigs mostly.

The captain asks you about what job you've been assigned, you tell him you're on night watch.

>"Lonely work, that. No one but you and your reflection in the waters. Men go mad during these voyages."

You tell him you'll be fine.

Days and nights pass with you sitting on the steps and watching the seas.

On one day another ship passes by, you think you're about to see action, but it's another trader like the one you're on.

The two captains have a little chat, ship to ship, about things going on around the seas.

The other ship leaves and you return to your travels.

You tell him you've got a slow metabolism, and gather your things.

"Any chance of a return journey?"
You ask.

>"We're not departing for another two months at the least."
The captain tells you.

You could wait that time out, if you wanted to.

You go below deck and get your horse, still armoured. All the hay he's been fed is in a pile under him, as he still doesn't understand he's dead.

You lead Binky off the ship and onto land.

This city is very different to the others you've seen.

It's clean, for one.

The streets are paced with brick, and most of the houses are built with it too.

There's a job board at every church to every god.

>>21258259
You ask a man what's up with all the posters.

>"It's the election month, friend. Who's gonna be the Lord Chancellor for the next couple years. My money's on minister Fido, every time he speaks, I just feel good. Heh, funny really, I don't actually know what he stands for..."

There's an election in two week time, and Fido's going to be doing a lot of public speaking and gatherings.

What do you do?
>>
>>21258206
Pretend harder
>>
>>21258306
RUN FOR OFFICE. Inform Erik of your decision, then ask what an election is.
>>
>>21258319
>"An election is when the residents of a living area get together and decide who's going to rule and lead them for a predetermined period of time. And I don't think just anyone can run for office, especially when it's two weeks before the final count. But all the luck to you."

If you could rally the entire city, and ministers in the two weeks, and break Fido's control, then you could. But then you'd be stuck in the city for another 2 years.

What do you do?
>>
>>21258306
Find out when the next public gathering is, and scope out what kind of security there is. There will be more than one, we can afford not to make our move for this one.
>>
>>21258319
This! Spend the time before the election durmming up support with the common man and making a(nother) name for ourselves, and ask Erik if he knows of any way to ward a crowd against verbal spells. We can expose his fraud in front of the entire city!

As much as a good idea it seems, people here don't want a retard to run their city. Odd, that...

What do you do?

>>21258373
I don't think you can technically beat a retard in a debate. Look at the Brady bunch.

"Oh, how considerate of him." Our frenemies have gotten a bit of fame yeah? Can we ask around to see if any of them are in easy contacting distance?
>>

The chewbacca defense isn't gonna fly agaist someone that uses nigh-mind control level wordmagic.
>>
>>21258513
It's literally a god-tier chewbacca defense.
>>21258464
What if we slowly increased the power base of the church of the retard god so that it was a major political power in the city? Or would that piss Hydra off?
>>
>>21258493
Unlike you, your frenemies haven't been killing high profile individuals across the land in extreamly brutal ways.

They've been doing personal quests or jobs appointed to them. Clarice in particular has been off the scene for years.

If you weren't a skeleton and a champion of a God you wouldn't be as well known.

And in this new land not many people know you, a few sailors know of a Dancing Knight who kills wizards and demons without trouble, but the common people of the city think you're a campfire story.

>>21258532
You need some natural charisma to start off in politics, and retard God has few followers, and you're the only person that contacts him with actual words.

What do you do?
>>
>>21258556
Surely this guy has some people that aren't happy about him being in power, you can't make everyone happy. The thing about charisma is eventually people stop buying it. I say we ask around. "Surely everyone isn't voting for him, there must be SOME groups he can't please." We find our way into the underground from there, gather information, find a grassy knoll because that's how we do things, and take him out from afar. Bonus points if we can suck the sound out of our bow. Or shit, we could get on his good side and supply information to someone else trying to off him. That way we don't even incriminate ourselves.
>>
>>21258556
There's got to be at least one charismatic moron around here.
>>
>>21258556
Were're the only one the retard god "talks" to?
Are we like, some kind of double champion? Does the retard god even have a champion, or is the concept too much for him to grasp?
>>
Silently Watch the bow to nullify sound from it.
>>
>>21258625
It's not just charisma he's using, he's using magic to charm people. Arguing against his followers is pointless, even dangerus, depending on how strong his spells are.
>>
>>21258632
Come to think of it, how does the retard god fit into the pantheon? Some exposition on the pantheon would be cool, I mean, Dan has to know about it, he was a paladin in life and death.
>>
>>21258625
There are other posters up on the walls of the city, other political candidates.

There's several men and women handing out pamphlets and flyers regarding other ministers.

>>21258632
The Retard god does indeed have a champion. He's not retarded per se, more like a savant. Picture Rain Man, but with combat mathematics.

What do you do?

>>21258681
Lords of Sky
Lords of Land
Lords of Sea
Lords of Ideals

Each god fits into one of those four categories.

Mark's god is a sky and idea god.

Does this help?

As posted earlier, there's a rally in the city park.

>>21258716
You ask one of the men from the other parties.
>"Depends on your views, really. My man, Robert, wants to focus on education and agriculture. While his,"
The man points across the street.
>"Wants to focus on health care and infrastructure."

"Anyone looking to, take down, Fido? Not in a political sense?"

>"We're not assassins, we do things with a bit of order around here, thank you, and I'd ask that you stop asking me those kinds of questions."

The man hushes his tone.

>"But there are some, try the dark streets."

The man who supports Robert turns back to handing out pamphlets.

What do you do?

>>
>>21258773
Listen to the rally.
>>
>>21258800
No, we might get mindcontrolled or something. We don't know if his magic affects us or not.
>>
>>21258842
And I say we don't find out. We didn't get this far by letting our opponents actually USE the full brunt of their powers.
>>
>>21258790
You get direction to the dark streets.

>"Shady parts, no cleaners, no police, just thugs. Down main road and left, past the smoke house. They're just past it."

>>21258800
You go to the park, there's quite a gathering, thousands of people have turned out for the event.

You see your quarry walk onto the stage, flanked on each side of him are armoured men, each in great, thick heavy plate.

He walks to the podium.

>"Friends, Insurgians, lend me your ears! Today, we come together to hope and think for better times, where a man can be a man without worry, where a woman can dance and sing, and where children can play."

He's... He's not saying anything important...

>"Together we can bring this city together for a new dawn of equality and goodness. A new dawn, a greater dawn, awaits us all. So long as I am in power, we will all see the morrow!"

The crowd goes wild. You find yourself restraining the urge to clap along.

The men at the back of the crowd are calmly agreeing with one another, a gentle clap and a head nod. While those at the front are going berserk, trying to climb up onto the stage. Holy shit, one's frothing at the mouth and the other's having a fit.

It seems his power is proximity based.

Stay far away from him at all times. Go to the dark streets. We now know he has to be taken with a bow. We know how his powers are best used. We know he's at a disadvantage dealing with far foes.
>>
>>21258880

Sounds like sniping is the way to go. Lets try to find out where he lives so we can snipe him at home instead of infront of millions of people.
>>
>>21258933
Or, have one of his rivals snipe him. Which absolves us, and therefore Erik of any involvement.
>>
>>21258912
You leave the park and the applauding people and find your way to the dark streets. People are walking about with hoods pulled up and their hands are close to daggers.

They seem to be congregating to a tavern.

The Damaged Percussion Instrument.

You enter the tavern and take a seat, anyone in the dark streets deserves to either be there, or they'll be killed soon enough.

Well, no, but if we try to off him publicly having people see us in such a disguise will be effective in concealing our own identity, as well as turning public opinion against the guy. People will conclude that the guy must've done some nasty shit if he made Death himself come collect in person.

"Hey Erik, I've got an idea here, let me fax it to you." And then cram a drawing of a skelecopter through the conch.

Hydra did say it was a battle of willpower.
He didn't say it was our willpower.
>>
>>21259769
Can we check out the podium he's going to be speaking from?

>>
>>21259780
You're not exactly a smart fellow, you're crafty, but not smart. You'll do anything for money.

Erik on the other hand is a wild card. Centuries of reading should of sharpened his mind to a needle point. If he can focus on resisting for long enough.
>>
>>21259769
Have erik give us a set of orders. Basically, make us turn on drowning touch if we are about to shake his hand, shake hand, turn off drowning touch but leave him drowning, shake off anyone following us, return to gallowmere.

>>21259770
That's just stupid enough to work

".....ummm.....Nothing. Hey, did Areal ever figure out why her footsteps got so loud?"

A meter eh?
Perhaps at night time we could do something to the order of placing a spike in the meter gap under the floorboard
And use a blade of some sort to carve away and weaken the wood above it

Any situation where we would be able to shake his hand?

Wait, that reminds me. Our strength and survivability is dependant on willpower. What if we become weak and fragile when Eric cuts off our willpower and takes control?
>>

Might become dependant on Erik's willpower. Christ on a bike, this means Erik is probably a goddamn beast compared to us.

He's so used to everyone falling under his spell he wouldn't see it coming from right in front of him.

>>
>>21259922

>>
>>21259952
The podium is in the park, there isn't anywhere to drop a piano on him.

There are lines of sight, but there's snipers on the roofs looking for assassins.

Go get a pin
Go to a nearby hospital and find someone with a horrible deadly wasting illness
Stab them with the pin
Stick the pin in between the floorboards in front of the lectern

And now we have Erik good and motivated.

>>
>>21259922

We are not going through with the Eric Command plan. A basic skeleton would be torn apart by like 10 people!

Also, is our Deafening Silence/Stare a Hydra gift or is that just us?
>>
Can we tunnel under to the podium?
>>
>>21260010
That's just you.
If Erik's will matches or is greater than yours, you'd be fine.

It would take a long time, to get past all the roots.

A rather large hole going down and into the park would attract attention. You'd have to map your way over to the park underground.

What do you do?
>>
>>21260036

"Hey Erik. You know how you're a really good necromancer? If my body gets destroyed can you put my soul into another skeleton and animate me again?"

Well then, we should disguise ourselves for this particular mission, yes?

Anyplace nearby where we can get a black cloak, a mask and an hourglass? Let's do this one with style.

(Meta knowledge - that would mean nothing carries any real risk in game, doubtful)
>>

There are many costume, farming, and decorative stores in the city.

>>21260151
You visit each store and purchase the wanted items.

You place the items on your bed.

You wouldn't be allowed near the really sick ones in quarantine. You'd have to fight your way in and out.

>>21260188
ok, prepare for the costume party. think if we bribed the doorman, he'd let us in? i think we've got the money for it. then, once we're in we try to find a way to the guy and have Erik put his willpower through. then move in for a drowning
>>
>>21260212
Then make it a big pin
I dont know
No one is really coming up with an idea
Dressing like death isn't likely to get us near the guy now is it
That's like trying to assassinate the president of america dressed as a clown
>>
>>21260231
What costume party is this?
>>
>>21260188

So, recap on the plan. Are we dressing up as Death then running up to Drown Touch him? That sounds really risky.
>>
I assume we can use the drowning touch as long as he is touching a part of us?
Remove a finger bone and place it on the lectern before he goes to read
He'll probably pick it up out of curiosity, at which point we either make him Join the God Below or drown him
>>
>>21260240
Dressing up for a costume party?

>>21260231
You could just hit the door man really hard.

You tailor the robe to fit you better, and hone the scythe. You tie the hour glass you the waist of the robe.

>>21260254
See.>>21259407

>>21260279
You could drown or decompress. Either would work. And every plan you've had is risky.

>>21260291
I've covered this, it has to be connected to you to work, otherwise it's just bone.

What do you do?
>>
>>21260240
Hey, some guys in a limo managed to get within a hundred feet of Bush one time while dressed as osama bin ladin and waving around passcards that actualy said "fake" on them.
They were only caught when they tried to turn around.
>>
>>21260240
Would get us into the costume party. Our deafening silence thing might be because we're Hydra's angel of death. Walk in dressed as death, deafening silence, shake his hand with drowning touch, leave. Drown anyone who tries to stop us from leaving. Just walk slowly out of there, get on our skeletal horse, and ride off. No one can catch us. Our horse is faster than theirs and will never tire. All that will be known is that death himself claimed this man.

We shall become the the masque of the red death, tonight.
>>
You wait until the Friday Fido is holding the private ball.

You dress up as Death, and you look the part, too.

You leave the inn, scythe in hand.

Binky is munching on hay in the stables, you mount up and trot off into the night.

Binky slowly walks through the streets, you just have to follow the noise and music coming from the glass building.

You pass by many people on the way, almost all of them bow their heads and run. A few too drunk to think straight ask for an autograph.

You arrive outside Fido's tower, and tie Binky up to a watering trough, just to comfort him.

You walk up the steps to the tower, bony feet clacking on the stone.

The door man asks you who are, you just stare at him until he backs off and you enter.

Fido is up on a stage giving a speech, you enter unnoticed.

What do you do?

>>21260401

It's 3.33... I'll round up. And that one guy got 44.

You open the chest and find a suit of armour, you go to inspect it but it grabs your hand and pulls itself up.

>"Who dareth disturb the Warforged slumber?!"
Well, shit.

In all my years of writing stories, as pulping and silly as they may be, I've never ever decided on a skelehorsecopter.

And the critical acclaim it got, Christ on a bike.

/tg/ in a nutshell.
Who needs boobs when you've got a +5 adamantium chestpiece.
>>
>>21261514
What male would put up with her shit, really?

>>21261517
True.
>>
>>21261514
No.
Stop right there.
We are not about to turn this into some twisted bonding exercise.
>>
>>21261528
One that could not be called a man.
>>
>>21261541
Realistically, we'll try out of sheer flusteredness. Or say "Well, I always just used rack size to determine if I was in love or not." And then cue awkward comment or silence.
>>
Wait. OP made that sad story about the golem and the garden. A golem (Warforged) has just been introduced.

Tomorrow is going to be bleak.
>>
>>21261562
>"Uncle, how do you know if you love someone?"
"Well, if they put out I used to tell them I loved them."
>"You disgust me."

Would you like to know the Warforged's name?
>>
>>21261577
Meryl gets a gardening partner. Since Meryl and stumbles are magical constructs found in basements of magic users' homes, they've got good chances of sticking around a while.

"Or if they had a nice rack and wouldn't put out."
>>
>>21261601
Yes. His name would be awesome.
>>
>>21261577
But this can't be that golem. We already ran across Golem 6b previously.

This one is probably a war golem, unless Warforged and Golems are different in which case none of this is relevant.
>>
>>21261635
War forged golem. A golem forged for war. Problem solved. This ain't set in the D&D universe.
>>
>>21261635
Are we about to meet 6a?
>>
>>21261635
Golems were Shock and Awe weapons, Warforged were the souls of great soldiers put into an immortal shell.

>>21261630
Warforged Unit 4b. Unit 4.

In the magical weapon production line, the model "b" is always defective.

As for why 4b is defective, you'll learn.
>>
>>21261665
he dances. Or is extremely emotional. Or is a door golem that shoves keys up his ass. Or is a fucking elf. Or has a deep love of porn.
>>
>>21261685
Door golem.....Isn't Adrian a rogue?
>OH YES, PICK ME ADRIAN, RIGHT THERE. RIGHT IN THE TUMBLERS OH GOD YES
>>
>>21261685
She's a lesbian
>>
>>21261685
Nope.

When a warforged is made a soldier's soul is moved from the flesh and into the steel and gears.

Their emotions are deadened, and their remorse and compassion. But not with 4b.

>>21261706
>Set of armour

What are you smoking?

>>
>>21261721
Cats, actualy. Maybe I'll roll a hamster or two later, I dunno.
That was a weird thread.
>>
>>21261704
I'm going to call that happening later on down the line when we need him to pick a lock.
>>
>>21261742
Why would you need to pick a lock? You'd just break the door in.
>>
>>21261721
We're getting a PTSD buddy! We can mope and watch paint dry together.
>>
>>21261754
To make him feel useful or something. I like adventuring with the frenemies, needing their skills stops us from feeling all-powerful.
>>
>>21261765
>>21261766
>Implying 4b wants to go with you

You two have high expectations...
>>
>>21261782
We can solve anything with a high enough hug roll.

>FOUL DEMON, I WILL NOT SUFFER YOUR KIND TO WALK THIS EARTH
"Ssshhhhhhh. No anger, only hugs."
>WHAT GAME ARE YOU PLAYING? I SHALL NOT FALL FOR YOUR TRICKERY
"SSSShhhhhhhhhhhh. It's ok. Just let the hug happen. Everything will be ok."
>>
>>21261848
And then we roll a 1.
On a d1000.
We have to dance the dance of friendship!
>>
>>21261848
I mean out to fight.

If I was a machine designed to kill, and suddenly I've got freedom, fuck would I still be killing.
>>
>>21261782

Talk and feeling doors are a strange, new type of Xeno.

And as it is my duty as Inquisitor Story Man, you'll all be coming with me, for "re-education."

Have you ever heard the doors to the throne room being unlocked? I'll tell you one thing: total screamers.
>>
>>21262204
Would you like some bolter round to go with that heresy?
>>
>>21262212
I'm telling you man, you gotta hear for yourself. Heard them screaming myself, opened up the doors and some sisters of battle were praying to the emperor inside.
>>
>>21262252
I hope they have screaming doors in hell, heretic.
>>
>>21262252
.......I think I've solved this mystery. Obviously my dear man, 'twas the sisters screaming their devotion to the emperor.
>>
>>21262259
That would explain why I can't find any other doors that like being opened that much
>>
>>21262257
I thought everything screamed in hell?
>>
>>21262298
Do I have to get my bible out and correct you?

About what, that's up for you too decide...
