I feel like my head is going to explode.

"Lancer drew a sword?" Rin asks, apparently the first to regain her composure. "Was it a regular blade?"

"It was definitely a Nobel Phantasm." Archer responds. "Further, I don't think it was some kind of deception or replication. He was clearly wielding Gae Bolg. I've never seen the other before, but if I had to hazard a guess I'd say it was Fragarach, the sword called 'Answerer'." he closes his eyes, as though focusing on something you can't see. "No, not a guess. I'm certain of it."

"How is that even possible?" Saber asks. "He might be able to wield such a weapon as a Saber or a Berserker, but as a Lancer it would be lost to him."

Rin seems terrified by the implications, and Saber and Archer both seem lost in thought.

"In any case." Archer says. "There's nothing to do for it at the moment. We can't move against Ilya until we know more, and we can't move against the Master at the school until classes are over." He looks at the clock. "Another couple hours at least." He looks at Rin. "Would you be willing to stay here? If you let me do some scouting on my own, I can move faster. I'll be back by the time you want to go back to school."

"... Sure. I'll even stay close to these two." She gestures to myself and Saber. "To be extra safe. Be careful."

"Of course." And like that the Red Knight is gone.

Since we have the time, I-

Gilgamesh masquerading as Lancer?
Lancer being a bad enough dude to tell class restrictions to go fuck themselves?
Archer making excuses for getting his nuts rocked by a Gay Space Pirate?
The world may never know.

[x] Train with Saber

Make sure to try out the moves we started using in that sparring session with Archer and try to emulate them further.
>>
Time for training.
>>
My guess is that he got Fraglrock by looting Bazett. After all its an actual object in the world and I doubt class restrictions keep him from picking it up and swinging it at people.
>>
>>21393376

That's a possibility.

The thing is, it's also connected to his legend, so it could be something he has as a servant.

Excalibur still exists out there somewhere, in theory someone else could wield it. Saber would still have a copy as a Phantasm.

Hell, Lugh could also be summoned as a Saber, Berserker, or Rider and have it. In theory we could have four different servants with their own copies of the blade since it passed through several hands in legend, and still have the 'real' one with Bazett.

Assuming Bazett even summoned him, since Berserker's obviously not Herakles and Lancer's apparently working with Ilya. Normal assumptions will probably get us killed.
>>
>>21393285
>Nobel Phantasm

I assume Dynamite would be either Anti-Army or Anti-World, depending on how much of it you used?
>>
>>21393422
I'm not sure if Lugh could even be summoned. There's tales of him as a hero, but he's also considered a deity and I don't think you're allowed to summon gods.

If Lugh was summoned I'd be very scared of his dog Failinis.

[X] Train with Saber.
>>
>>21393467

If Lugh was summoned, I would surrender immediately, and then pray he doesn't kill me out of hand for being in the same fight.

He's on the list of the top ten people I wouldn't want to fight in a Grail-War context.

Plus, Herc was a mortal made a god later and he was summoned. Lugh was technically a demi-god of mixed blood before becoming revered and going higher in the legends.

>>21393376
Fragarach's kinda wonky in its modern use. I mean...look at it. And then there's the fact that, according to the wiki, it's supposed to be one of the few remaining items unattached to a Heroic Spirit.

You're really just better off reading it yourself.

Oh shit son, thats some serious firepower.
>>
>>21393499
Demi-gods are allowed, and Heracles ascending was something that happened after he burned himself to death on the funeral pyre so I think he slips around that bit.

As I said, I'm not sure if Lugh would be allowed, he kinda edges the line as he is seen as both mortal hero and god.

But it is right to be utterly terrified of him.

He would have more Noble Phantasms than he knew what to do with, at least 4 different spears, a very powerful sling stone, a sling rod that was the rainbow, Fragarach, a boat, a horse, a dog that could turn water into wine. And he was also damn good at combat and a master of dozens of other crafts and skills including sorcery, poetry, music, and smith.
>>
>>21393563
Awesome weapon, though it does fall short against Assassin, Caster, Gilgamesh, maybe Emiya.
>>
>>21393594
Oh, right, and Cu. Gay Bulge trumps Frag IIRC.
>>
>>21393594
>maybe Emiya.
If he copied Fragarach, launched an attack with something else, then switched to Fragarach and struck against it with his copy, what would happen?
>>
>>21393621
He does not trigger Frag's instant kill unless he uses his Reality Marble, and somehow I cannot see reversing casuality in a piece of reality owned by your opponent working out as cleanly as it should. He should be able to use Frag's instant kill against his opponent, but it is more likely to be not nearly as effective.
>>
>>21393621
Frag and Copy-Frag would probably just nullify eachother.

Or destroy causality.
>>
>>21393602
Fragarach vs Gay Bulge ends in a mutual kill.
>>21393621
I think, logically, it would come down to who can produce the most Fragarachs. It's like counterspell fights in Magic: the Gathering.
>>
>>21393665
What about Frag versus Ea? Frag reverses causality, but more or less Ea attacks reality itself.
>>
>>21393665
So Emiya wins by virtue of Unlimited Hax Works.
>>
>>21393641
>He does not trigger Frag's instant kill unless he uses his Reality Marble
I don't see how UBW would qualify for Fragarach's trigger. It is not an attack, it just gives him access to the entirety of his collective armory.
>>
>>21393694
It is his ultimate ability, and Frag's reversal only triggers in the event of the opponent using his ultimate ability, such as a Reality Marble or a Servant's Noble Phantasm.
>>
>>21393285
>[ x] Train with Saber.

insert rocky balboa training montage music here
>>
>>21393680
Fragarach makes fucks with causality such that the attack it is countering never occurs. In the case of Gilgamesh unleash Ea it would strike, and presumably kill, at a point before he actually makes the attack.

Shit's a headache, yo.

>>21393686
Not necessarily. It all depends on whether or not he has the energy to produce enough copies.
>>
>>21393285
[X] Talk to Rin about Magic.

I know I'm getting outvoted, but we need to get to the point where Rin feeds us a gem so we can stop being the world's most terrible wizard.
>>
>>21393733
On the other hand, what are the odds she could force him to use Ea? He only uses it very rarely, 4th Rider, 5th Saber, and very, very reluctantly against Shirou and Avenger.
>>
>>21393285
When you train the body you should also train the mind. Strength is meaningless without the intelligence to use it.

In other words, we train with Saber AND talk to Rin about magic. At the same time.
>>
>>21393702
I'm going by what I've learned from the wiki man and it says, verbatim:
>The condition for its use is that the opponent must use their strongest attack, and Fragarach must be used directly after the enemy's strike.
>strongest attack

I see Unlimited Blade Works as a support ability more than anything personally.
>>
>>21393746
And therein lies probably the biggest weakness of Fragarach. It has very limited use - virtually none against Servants and other high-power entities - outside of them using their own trump card.

The simple fact is Gilgamesh would never use it against Bazett because he could just Gate of Babylon her to death.
>>
>>21393773
>Fragarach is an "Ace-Killing Joker" and the "ultimate counter code" that responds to the "trump card" of the enemy, such as the Noble Phantasm of a Servant
>Against passive trump card abilities that are constantly activated, such as God Hand, it can be used against them at any time, and against an attack used by a mount, like Bellerophon, it kills the Pegasus rather than the rider.
>If used with the proper conditions with the "Answerer effect", it activates with as an A Rank attack after calling both out of its names. One major weakness is that it is useless against enemies without a special ability, such as an all rounded magus like Caster.

>Against passive trump card abilities (...) itcan be used against them at any time

Unlimited Blade Works being fully deployed is the requirement for Fragarach to counter Emiya. It is his Noble Phantasm as Archer, and his ultimate ability over all.
>>
File: 1351826448883.jpg-(84 KB, 500x676, 2010-11-14-21-11-18498052210.jpg)

>>21393285
>>
>>21393812
I would disagree, It would be more like him pulling some trick he could only pull within UBW. UBW's deployment isn't an "Attack" you see. However, using an attack that can *only* be pulled off within UBW would count as Archer's "Ultimate Attack" and thus trigger Fragarach. So he only fucks himself if he goes balls out inside UBW.
>>
>>21393742
I'm for this as well, as shirou actually needs to identify what his magic is *actually* fucking good for in order to "MY BODY IS MADE OF SWORDS!!!!".
>>
>>21393812
>that are constantly activated
You left that bit out in your reasoning. The fact is I cannot see Unlimited Blade Works as being passive when Fragarach is concerned considering it must be activated for it to do anything other than record & store.

I think we just need to agree to disagree and leave it at that. We're obviously not going to convince one another and we're just wasting posts at this point. The only way we'll get a definite answer anyway is if someone were to ask Nasu about it and he deemed it worth answering.
>>
>>21393932
I believe that UBW merely enhances his abilities, albeit to a massive degree.
>>
>>21393988
Hence what I said. Only if he uses an attack he utterly *NEEDS* UBW in full deployment for will it cause Fragarach to trigger.
>>
>>21393746
He used technically Ea against Shirou in UBW, but NOT Enuma Elish. Fragglerock wouldn't trigger against it as he used it in the final battle of UBW.
>>
>>21394016
If Frag requires the user to use it after the opponent uses their ultimate ability, wouldn't Enuma Elish be immune to Frag, due to having already killed the opponent before they could use it, and thereby preventing Gilgamesh from being killed before he could use it on account of him having already used it to successfully kill the holder of Fragarach?
>>
>>21394040
No.
Fragarach makes causality it's bitch. It's confusing as fuck.
>>
>>21394056
I just wanted make that as confusing as possible.
>>
>>21394040
>It would normally be that Fragarach would kill the enemy, and the opponent's attack would also simultaneously destroy Bazett. Despite being released afterward and no matter how fast the opposing attack is cast, Fragarach always strikes first by changing the flow of time to rewrite events so that it makes it own strike against the enemy before the opposing move was ever made in the course of the world. Rather than just rewriting events to gouge out the heart of the enemy, it is severing the fate of the combatants, reversing and changing the flow of destiny of both the user and enemy simultaneously killing each other with their attacks. The attack of the enemy, returned to a point where it "couldn't happen" due to the user being struck down by Fragarach, is wiped out by the laws of the world and the absolute system of time. No matter the power or speed of the ability, it is impossible to use if the enemy is defeated and has all of their later actions voided before they even have a chance to attack. It is an ability using one's life as bait to counter a one-turn-kill to win the battle that both kills the enemy and nullifies their attack, creating a perfect balance between offensive and defensive capabilities.
>>
>>21394016
Correction, he did use Enuma Elish, but he held back on it a bit. He didn't go all out.

>>21394040
Frag essentially goes back in time and kills the enemy *RIGHT BEFORE* (like, milliseconds before) they would have launched the attack, thus preventing it from happening. It only goes ploin shaped if they use Gae Bolg (As you were pierced before the attack was even launched) or trying to kill someone who has a lifelink to you (as it would result in the paradox of "You are killed by Frag before you could use Frag).
>>
>>21394071
>trying to kill someone who has a lifelink to you
When did that one come up?
>>
>>21394071
I reread the scene after I posted that, just to be sure.

The words "Enuma Elish" are not spoken. Therefore, it's not Ea's strongest attack, and, thus, wouldn't trigger Fragarch's causality reversal.
>>
>>21394089
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA. One of the girls uses the assassin card to form a lifelink with Bazzet, thus keeping her from killing her period, even with Fragarach.

They were totally fine with people playing the game in a tournament originally, and only when they found out that the tournament was being held in the US instead of Japan did they get mad. The validity of the copies being called into question may have been part of the reason, but as it was not sold out of Japan, the majority of copies would not be legitimate anyway.. I am unsure, but I believe that some other company, Capcom maybe, got involved in told them to get the fuck over it.

Ever heard of Record of Lodoss War, though? A Light Novel and later anime series, based on a D&D campaign the author participated in.

In fact, there was a big thing about a tabletop campaign that Nasu, Urobuchi, and Narita (author of Baccano! and Durarara) participated in that was supposed to be published online, called Red Dragon. I don't think anyone's tried to translate it.

Ok, this is one of the many reasons why copyrights are bullshit. Do you have any idea how hard it would be for practically ANYONE in the U.S. to get a quote unquote "legit" copy here without paying out their bleeding asshole? Sometimes, sometimes, a person "pirates" because they pretty much have to to get the goods they desire. I don't want to start a massive debate here, that's just one of my major points. A lot of companies are not gonna sell out of Japan, especially the small ones that make visual novels. Type-Moon's success is still based on those visual novels, despite them having expanded a bit. In fact, I am not sure if they thought Extra sold well enough to convince them to send CCC.

Alright, here's the deal. Since Kirei threw his bitch-fit earlier I haven't been able to contact him.

However, based on the notes he sent me during the 'you run I quit' portion of his rant, apparently I was doing pretty much everything other than actually running.

If you guys want, here's the post(s) that got both of us banned, as well as a continuation of the quest: http://pastebin.com/kX2T6Mue

If you guys want me to run, I'm down. I wish I had more prep-time, but them's the shakes.

If you'd prefer Kirei to run, I'm not sure I can do anything about that. He might be dead soon due to Hurricane.

"So why do you want the Grail?" I ask, mostly to make conversation.

"Eh?"

"Why do you want the Grail?"

"I.... There was a mistake made in my lifetime." She responds. "I was entrusted a duty that should've gone to someone else, and my legend is only a legend of my failure." She sighs. "I care little for how the world chooses to remember me, but the people I let down were affected horribly. I would rather they set someone more worthy to the task, and not me."

"You want to undo what you did?"

"It was a task I thought I was equal to, due to circumstances. I fell short, and it was my own fault for grasping at more than I should've." She sighs. "In any case, nothing short of a device such as the Grail can aid me. If it can help, then it's my duty to seek it even beyond the grave to fulfill my oath. As I knight, I can do no less."

It occurs to me that Rin's taking a while to get back with the water and bandages. She may have gotten lost, since she apparently isn't used to this sort of layout for houses.

"Tosaka should've been back by now."

"You think there's trouble?" Saber asks, suddenly tense.

"No, but she could've gotten lost or something." I respond with a sigh.

We look around for a few minutes, before finding Rin searching the pantry off all places.

"I thought you were looking for water and medicine?" I ask.

"I am. Water's clearly in the sink, but I couldn't find anything like herbs or alchemy ingredients. All I could find was a box in the cabinet by the bath with some bandages in it."

"There wasn't anything in the first-aid kit than regular bandages?" I respond surprised.

"Well, there was a couple kinds of pills and salves, but nothing for healing bruises and welts, just some antiseptic and such." She responds.

"Well, I'll save you some time then. I'm not an alchemist, and I'm not sure they make a magic-bruise healer to be sold in stores."

"Eh? Your teacher never taught you alchemy either?" Rin says, obviously surprised. "It seems like such an obvious thing, especially if you don't have much talent for other things."

"To be fair, I'm not sure he knew Alchemy. He seemed like a more 'hands on' kind of Magus." I respond.

"If your skills are so lacking, should I be teaching you?" She responds. "I mean, I'm not sure I can make up for such a lack in the time we have, but it's better than what you have now."

I'm going to have to cast a vote against that. It's trivial, and it's not like I have a strong moral or ethical stance against it (both of my parents smoke, and smoked more than tobacco), I just don't feel it's in Shirou's character. Even if this isn't quite the Shirou from the VN.

It won't damage his lungs at all and damn does it look cool. Besides what better time to pick up smoking than during the Holy Grail War.

It's also a good tactical decision, when anyone who knows Kiritsugu sees us smoking they're going to think we've started to channel our father, and they know how dangerous he was. It'll make them think twice. Besides we might get Ilya adorably trying to get us to quit smoking.

"Sure." I say. "As is I'm a terrible Magus, and after I exploded yesterday and got drugged earlier, it might be a good idea to do something less physical." I answer, after considering the offer.

"Alright then." She says, and then takes saber to gather a few sticks nearby after making me take my shirt off so she could put salve on my bruises. I try not to think too hard about the traces of blush I saw on Rin's face, or the nod of approval Saber gave me. "Here." She says, handing me one. I focus, and create the magic circuit, before slowly inserting it into my spine. Rin watches curiously, almost disbelievingly as I do so.

I take one of the sticks in hand, and close my eyes, analyzing the structure. I feel it inside out and know it, before slowly correcting it. bringing it more into line. Weak parts discarded, and everything double, then triple reinforced. When I hand it back to Rin, after brushing the excess off, it's almost as hard as steel.

"Shirou, do you create the circuit every time?"

I nod, slightly confused. "Of course, I have to to make magic happen."

Rin blinks, and then buries her face in her hands. "Your teacher didn't tell you ANYTHING did he?" She moans, before shaking her head "No, he overlooked this. It's so basic it probably never occurred to him." She looks up at me. Shirou, you don't CREATE a magic circuit. It's something you're born with."

"What? He showed me how to make one to activate my magic." I respond. "He said it was an important first step."

"Yes, for the first time ever." She says with a sigh. "After the first contact with the created one, the one you're born with is woken. Once it's there, it stays. It's like... a light-switch." She says pointing to one on the wall. "Putting it in is complicated, but once it's there you just turn it on and off. What you're doing is forcibly rewiring your magic and nerves EVERY TIME. That can kill you if you keep doing it."
>>
>>21396323

I blink, genuinely shocked, then I smile. "Man, I'm glad someone told me. I've been doing it wrong for years." I offer, after a long tense moment when I realize my mistake could have cost me my life years ago.

Rin shakes her head. "Here." She says, handing me a small gem. "Swallow this. It has some of my prana inside of it. It might make you a little woozy, but absorb it and just kinda... use it to flush the pipes."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, feel where your circuit is and then hit the switch. Let the magic go through you. Imagine the circuits are a muscle. Flex it."

I hesitate, and then swallow the small ruby she hands me. I feel the power she spoke of immediately.

I gather my strength and point at Saber. "Un... called.... for...." I manage to murmur at the three of them. When did I get three servants?

"Shirou?" Rin says. I turn to her, she looks worried.

"He doesn't HAVE magic circuits." Rin responds, confused, before rolling me onto my back. In my minds eye, I see a Sword. It's so beautiful, I want to reach out and touch it. It's not just a sword, it';s the sword, the thing which the word is meant to describe it it's purest form.

"That's impossible!" I hear Saber respond. "If he's not a mage, he couldn't summon me. He couldn't have changed that stick." She says, pointing at a twig. Who cares about twigs? It's not that sword. I wish I could show them. Show them how pretty it is, in my mind.

"It's not going into circuts, it's going into his nerves." She responds, voice quiet. "Saber, if I can't figure out what's wrong, it's going to kill him!" She sounds worried. Why is she so worried? I see the sword again. And understand it. It's form, what it means. It's power as a tool and a symbol. I want.... I want to touch it. I feel like if I could touch it, I could die and it wouldn't matter.

Well, Ea PREDATES the concept of "Sword". He can't mimick it because it exists outside the concept of Sword which is his Origin and Alignment, because it existed BEFORE that concept.

I reach out, and I grab the sword. I open my eyes and I see it, I feel it.

I pause. How could I hold it like this? The sword was in my mind, the sword was in my soul, not a real blade. Yet here it is.

It's not some horrible artifact, some grand masterpiece. It's a simple longsword, silver unadorned blade, a squared cross-guard and a black-leather wrap for the grip.

It's not a real sword, I know instinctively, it's the distilled concept of a sword, not a sword itself. The concept of it being a false perfection and a real concept in my hand feels like a paradox, and it shatters into dust as I have the revelation.

"What was- Rin, what was that?" Saber asks. She sounds like she's at the end a tunnel.

"I- I don't know. It felt like a Noble Phantasm, but-"

"It couldn't be. That felt different. A Noble Phantasm is a reflection of a legend. A manifestation of the weapon's soul, like servants are of the heroes."

"That was like an Idea given form." Rin responds, confused. "I don't think it was real, or ever meant to be.

I hear a third voice. "Rin, I was on my way back when I felt you panicking. What happened?"

"Shirou- there's something wrong with his magic circuits." Rin says. Wait, I know that voice. Don't I?

I feel a hand on my chest. "There's nothing wrong with his circuits. He's just using them for the first time. Something wrong with his head though if the first thing he chooses to do is try to grasp his origin."

>>
>>21396732

Ah. NOW I remember you Archer, you smug bastard.

"Sumg bastard huh?" He answers my inner thoughts. "You're more out it than you realize, if you're mumbling. Focus Shirou, I know it's hard for you, but you need to think. What happened?"

"....Jewel...." I respond.

"Jewel? Rin gave you a Jewel?"

"I had him swallow it, so he could channel my mana-"

"You What?" Archer asks, shocked. "Rin....." The voices fade, as I feel myself falling asleep.

I wake up, with the sun setting. Rin's sitting concerned at my side, as is Sakura and Taiga.

"What happened?" I ask, slowly sitting up.

"Tosaka said you had some kind of a seizure." Taiga answers. "She said she saw you outside about an hour ago, and when she stopped to talk, you suddenly collapsed."

"Huh," I say, shaking my head. "I don't remember that, but I feel like I got run over by a bus." The three of them help me to my feet, but I feel slightly wobbly still.

"Come on Sempai." Sakura says, as she helps lead my out into the hall. I note that I'm wearing my school uniform. Did Rin...? "I made dinner, so you don't have to worry about that."

"I called your boss and told him you were sick, so you don't have to worry about that." Taiga says.

Rin tells me to sit down and relax, and a hushed conversation over dinner with the four girls decides that they're staying just in case I feel ill. I begin to wonder if I'm losing my say in my own house.
>>
>>21396837

Oh great. The blood seal.
>>
>>21396837

After dinner, they start to wander off to bed, while I say I need some fresh air. Saber offers to stay with me in case something happens.

"What really happened?" I ask her, as soon as we're out of earshot.

"Archer told Rin that even though you're weak and unskilled as a Magus, your connection with your origin is unusually strong. Rin's is as well. The pain you felt was because her Mana when she sealed it in her jewel wasn't completely pure, since her touching on her origin made it so the energy had a part of her origin in it. Since it was so different than yours, it going through your circuits could have burned them out. Apparently your circuits are also more numerous than she realized, since she couldn't tell them apart from your nerves through your entire body." She sighs. "I don't understand, but apparently you used your origin with your whole circuit, which cause you to... project something, Archer said. This cleaned Rin's bad mana out of you and saved your life." She looks away. "She was really worried she could've killed you. I must confess, I was also concerned."

"Without me, you lose the Grail?"

"Being a Master isn't your only value!" she snaps, before realizing that I was joking. "You're also an exceptionally good cook."

"Thank you. It's good to know that I'm satisfactory as both a meal ticket and as a power source."

Saber blushes. "I didn't mean that!" Then she puts her face in her hands. "Your humor is subtle."

"I'll take that as a compliment."

Firstly, neither of them have shown anything resembling an attraction to each other yet.

Secondly, we would need to be more subtle before anything like that could possibly succeed.

Thirdly, while I'm not opposed to the idea of them hooking up, they mainly did so out of mutual love for Shirou.

Seriously, at the very least we need to WAIT before attempting this. Saying it now would end with Taiga sodomizing us with a bokken for lieing. and then letting Rin and Saber beat whatever is left.

I-

I'm having a hard time seeing how this can possibly sound like a good idea, in or out of character.

I mean, setting aside the fact that Shirou has no reason to even think about saying it....

I mean, why? What? Why does this sound like a good idea to you? The only time either of them hint at something resembling attraction is at least three near death experiences from here.

Come on, I know that we're not exactly sticking to canon here, but this is a bit of a sudden and jarring leap from any angle you can possibly look at it.

At best, it's blatant meta-gaming. Based on assumptions you have, at this point, no idea whether or not they're true.

Kinda? You could argue, rather compellingly, that the UBW good end is more Rin's Harem than Shirou's, and she does admit to at least being attracted to Saber during Fate.

But Shirou, who until he had the girls more or less THROWING themselves onto him before he admitted things like 'sex' existed because he was trying to ignore it for various reasons....

Merely saying the words 'romantic escapade' might be considered hilariously out of character.

I decide to stand my ground.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with my sense of priorities."

"Oh REALLY." Taiga responds, crossing her arms and looking at me.

"I'll admit that I had Lunch with Tosaka on the roof, and that we did leave the school together. Something of an emergency came up, that I will not disclose, nor allow you to inquire upon, because as a Gentleman I promised not to speak of it." Taiga blinks, while I try to be firm but not overbearing, and giving as little indication as possible that I am crafting a lie. "What I said to Souichirou-sensei was neither entirely truthful, nor a lie. The words slipped from my mouth while I tried to think of a way to honestly explain the situation without breaking my word with Rin. The truth of it from there is pretty straightforward, we went across the river to a mall, and then came here to study and wait out the school day. I had my seizure, and beyond that I cannot even begin to speculate what happened."

"So you were just going to go back in the morning if nothing happened?" She asks, trying to find a direction to take the argument I haven't already covered.

"No, I actually intended to go back when the day was over, due to a promise I made Issei, just before I went to meet up with Rin. I also promised Souichirou-sensei that we would have a chat about my priorities tomorrow before class."
>>
>>21397763
Incidentally (your image reminded me) I support the idea of shipping Shirou with Ilya, if anyone else is on board.
>>
>>21397810
What is the worst that could happen?
>>
>>21397806

Her head falls, admitting defeat. "Shirou, you have my cell number. Next time, call me. Even if something's up and you can't tell me EVERYTHING I can help cover for you if something's happening." She then puts a hand on my shoulder. "I guess you should probably stay home tomorrow. I can get Rin and Sakura excused too, if you want."

"I'll ask them about it. But I still need to go speak with Souichirou-sensei in the morning, and apologize to Issei for not doing the favor he asked."

Taiga blinks and then sighs. "Yeah, you definitely need to get your priorities straight. It's pointless arguing with you when you've clearly made up your mind though. Come on, you need to get some sleep."

"In a moment." I respond, seeing Archer wave to me out of the corner of my eye.

She shakes her head and walks off, and Archer vanishes and I hear his voice over my shoulder. "I healed what damage Rin did, but don't use any magic tomorrow. Beyond that, be careful. Your body can't shape most magic."

With that, I decide to-

[ ] Talk to the girls about the day off.
[ ] Go to sleep.

Ilya is disgusted by the thought of incest and sicks Berserker on him.

Saber is disgusted by the thought of incest, and stabs him.

Rin is disgusted by Incest, and Tells Archer to 'have fun'.

At the same time.

And before anyone points out the technicalities there, I know. I'm just pointing out the worst-case scenario. Which happens to be one of the worst possible romantic endings.

"Archer." I say, before his presence departs.

"Yes?"

"Meet me in my room, so we can have a little talk."

About a minute later, he manifests again in my room. "Giving up on women? Because I feel I should warm that I don't swing like that."

"Can you cut the sass for five minutes?"

"We'll see." he responds with a smile, before his tone and expression becomes more serious. "What is it you needed to talk about?"

"How do you know so much about my magic?"

Archer blinks. "Your pattern of magic circuits is unusual. I've seen similar things in my life before becoming a heroic spirit. A lot of Magi refuse to accept things outside of their world-view. Admittedly, they tend to be more broadminded about certain things but... well, you've noticed how Rin is with technology, for example." He crosses his arms. "The idea that someone's entire nervous system could be a magic circuit is something that even the most radical of magi would have a hard time wrapping their head around."

"What about the part about not being able to do certain kinds of magic?"
>>
>>21398159

"Some magi are simply more specialized and adept at certain kinds of magic. your body not only didn't work right when you attempted to channel Rin's energy, it actively tried to reject it. On the plus side, there's work arounds even if they are a bit more complicated, and when you figure out what your 'thing' is magically speaking it's going to be extremely potent. Especially given your extensive magic circuits."

"... You were a Mage, weren't you? In life."

"Magic was a part of my skill set. Unlike most Magi who see magic as a defining aspect of their life, I simply viewed magic as a means to an end. I'd be careful about calling that sort of person a Magus. Both sides might get offended."

"... Why do you hate me so mu-"

"Times up."

"What?"
>>
>>21398164

"You asked for five minutes. I gave you exactly 300 seconds. Now It's time for me to play more of my little minds games, since I haven't done that enough recently."

"What could you possibly say that could-"

"You have four vaguely clingy emotionally unstable girls who care for you in different ways and have wildly conflicting personalities staying in one room. A violent mix of hormones and emotions staying..." he mentally does a count on his fingers "Three does that way." He finishes with a flourish. "And they're going to be talking about you. All. Night. Long. Have fun sleeping."

Before I can tell him to go fuck himself he vanishes. As sore and tired as I am, I only last four hours into my paranoid imaginings before finally falling asleep.

In my sleep, I see a sword. I see it in Saber's hand, leading an army into battle. Then I see it covered in blood, lieing in a field, discarded as it's master lie dieing. I see it crossing with a hundred swords, before a shining city that sees cast of gold. I see it in a dark cellar surrounded by the dieing and the dead. I see it before a font of darkness, and then I see it flying blade first though a sea of worms. I see it struck into the grounds at a crossroads.

I recognize it, it's the same sword I held earlier. But it was never in those places. Yet in a sense it was. I begin to wonder. What is this sword?

The wind seems to mock me as it answers. 'Folly' is all I hear before waking up.

I think I would've preferred my paranoid imaginings. In any case, it seems that I'm the first one awake.

"You have a hard time understanding simple instructions like 'take it easy' and 'rest', don't you?"

"This coming from the guy who deliberately fucks with my head to make me lose sleep. I was up half the night thanks to you."

"Only half? I need to step up my game." He responds. "Are planning to cook for everybody?"

"Of course." I respond. "And you can either help or get the hell out of my kitchen."

"Hmmm, I guess helping would leave you open to my wity and charm. What do you want me to do?"

"Start with chopping those veggie." I respond, handing him a knife. "Rice and miso to start with, if I make enough rice I can use it to make rice-balls for everyone's lunch as well."

"I'll do the Miso and the rice then. You doing other dishes with that?"

"A few side dishes." I respond, moving the cutting board, rice cooker, a pot and a hotplate over to one end of the counter for Archer to work on. I then set to work on my own parts, grilling chicken for the lunch dishes.

"So then, did you have any interesting dreams then? Maybe covered in women, since you seem to be angling for more than one?"

"If you think I'm in this to get laid, you're an idiot." I respond.

"Alright, you're not getting money like this, you don't want the power that the Grail offers.... what the hell reason do you have left other than women?"

"There's more to life."

"You can hardly manage as is. You seem to have three basic functions: work, cook, fight. You're a simple creature. I assumed you had simple motivations."

"Also, I hope you don't mind me taking credit for all this, since Rin'll never believe you lifted a finger to help me without a command seal."

I can hear the outraged silence, and I don't even need to see his face to know his jaw's dropped. "How did you manage that?" He asks.

"I believe you were the one who said you needed to 'step up your game'."

I hum to myself as he leaves the room in a huff. Sakura enters the room a moment later. "Sempai, did you make all that yourself?"

"Of course. I can't let you girls go hungry, can I?" I respond with a smile. "If you want to finish the Miso over there I'll finish packing everyone's lunches."

Moments later the other three enter. "You two made breakfast then?" Taiga says by way of greeting.

"Actually, this was all Sempi's doing." Sakura responds. "It was done before i got here, I'm just helping serve it."

"Hmmm." Rin nods with approval "You look rather cheerful for someone who almost died yesterday."

"I lived. Besides, cooking puts me in a good mood. Even when it's by myself, with no ones help at all." I say, sitting down, as Rin's eyes widen slightly, and a small smirk appears on her face.

It's to everyone's credit that nobody managed to laugh.

She might also have seen something - archer? - behind our back doing something, since he's invisible and I... think?... she can still see him. Not sure.

>[X] I go with, I have a promise to keep.
If we don't keep our word here, it'll be bad for us later. Besides, it's the right thing to do

>[ ] I talk to Saber about going on patrol.
and
>>21398405

Patrolling is important for enterprising young superheroes like us. And yes, we need to get busy on getting Kiritsugu's old shit. Perfect time right now since we won't be missed at school.
>>
>>21398419

Look at it this way: showing up in person after what happened will only make us look better.
>>
>>21398431
I suppose so. Okay, we can talk with him and fix the heater, that should only take a few minutes anyway. Still plenty of time to go patrolling with Saber and find the Contender.
>>
>>21398426
Actually wait, i had almost forgotten about Souichibro. We can't bitch out on our agreement with him, last thing we want to do is turn him perma-hostile. We do want him to live after all.
>>
>>21398437
this, go see him cancel my vote
>>
>>21398437
Agreed, what kind of superhero/ally of justice bitches out on an agreement between men?
>>
>>21398456
The absentminded kind.
>>
>>21398466
An agreement between men is a solemn oath! You stake your very self upon such an agreement! That is not something a hero can just FORGET!
>>
>>21398478
Clearly, it is, or none of us would have forgotten, no?
>>
I join them on the walk to school. Sakura seems surprised, but Taiga tells her that I mentioned a promise I had to keep last night.

On the way in, I tell Sakura not to be too worried about me, and I walk inside the school. I find myself about thirty feet from Souichirou-Sensei's office when I hear Issei behind me.

"Shirou? What happened yesterday? You went to lunch and then vanished. You never showed up after school, and I was on my way to your house to see what was up when Taiga-sensei told me that she was taking care of it.

[ ] Tell him what you told Souichirou and Taiga.
[ ] Tell him you had a seizure.
[ ] Tell him you have an appointment with Souichirou-sensei
>>
>>21398484
We forgot, but remembered in time to honor the agreement, which is what really counts!
We were simply cutting it dramatically close, in true hero fashion.
>>
>>21398491
Tell him we had a siezure.
If we tell Issei a different lie than everyone else it could end badly. He's a damn smart guy, after all.
>>
>>21398491
He would get offended if we give him the same excuse. Let him know what Taiga knows, the seizure.

>>21398493
Would they then not have been heroes if someone had not reminded them?
>>
>>21398491
I don't want to worry him by saying the word "seizure". So say we skipped some of the middle of school to take care of some errands and were planning on coming back to take care of the heaters when we fell quite ill. Or something along those lines.
>>
>>21398491
ooooh tricky.

>[ ] Tell him what you told Souichirou and Taiga.
keeps our story straight, but if he catches wind of Rin he'll have one of his little flip-out sessions.

Lets go with
>[ ] Tell him you have an appointment with Souichirou-sensei
for sure. The truth, nothing to incriminate ourselves, no mention of she-who-shall-not-be-named-infront-of-Issei.
>>
>>21398503
THEY could still be heroes. The promise is the promise of Emiya Shirou, and is thus etched upon his very soul, not upon theirs.
>>
>>21398513
I thought if I said "we" you would make some objection or another.
>>
>>21398507
B-but Issei-kun is so CUTE when he get jealous.
PFAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! Can't believe I typed that with a straight face!
>>
"I left, for reasons connected to the girl I had lunch with for reason's I'd rather not go into. I was planning to pop in after school, and look into that heater for you but-"

"But?" He says, clearly leading me on.

"Apparently I had a seizure. What happened, she was upset with me for skipping out, but wanted me to stay home for a little while until we knew what caused it."

Issei blinks. I can see genuine concern on his face. "Wait, if she wanted you to stay home, why are you here?"

"I told Souichirou-sensei I would talk to him this morning, and maybe look at that heater for you."

"Shirou, you need to be at HOME if you're sick. Forget about the heater."

"Alright, but I still need to talk to Souichirou." I respond, pointing at the door. "I'm already here, so I don't have any excuse not to."

Issei looks like he's about ready to scold me or something, and then lets out a resigned sigh. "Alright. Do you need anything from me?"

"Well, you're in my classes, so if you wouldn't mind passing notes and homework along to Fuji-nee or Sakura so I'll get them." He nods, and I suddenly have a flash of insight. "And do me a favor? If anything weird happens around here, let me know?"

"... Weird how?"

"Weird weird. Trust me, if it's worth mentioning, you'll notice it." I respond. "I just have this feeling that the immediate future's going to be a bit rough."

He looks at me kinda weird for a moment, and then nods seriously. "Got it. I'm not sure what it might be that's bothering you, but you aren't the type to get spooked for no reason." he then turns to deal with student council things and I'm left with Souichirou-sensei's door.

After only a moment's hesitation, I knock.
>>
>>21398587
The time has come.
We shall now witness the epic conflict between our bro-love and our duty to murder one another as Masters (though Shirou doesn't know about the last bit yet with regards to Souichibro).
>>
>>21398587

"Sit." He says, and I comply. "Standard punishment for delinquency as you exhibited is a mandatory suspension of 2-3 days. I'm choosing instead to put you on a work detail for a minimum of 20 hours, which Issei will sign off on to make it effective retroactively." He looks me in the eye. "Now for my personal curiosity, I want to know exactly why you chose to leave the school."

"I had lunch with Tosaka on the roof, and after that we left together. Something of an emergency came up, that I will not disclose, nor allow you to inquire upon, because as a Gentleman I promised not to speak of it." He hears this declaration, and hesitates, before nodding. "You didn't receive the entire truth at the time, and for that I apologize. I was trying to think of a way to properly explain the situation when, well, the words 'Romantic Escapade' just kind of slipped out. I couldn't come up with a better explanation without compromising my promise to Rin, The truth of it from there is pretty straightforward, we went across the river to a mall, and then went home to study and wait out the school day. I was planning to return after school yesterday, but unfortunately I had a seizure and passed out for most of the afternoon."

"Why are you here if you had a seizure yesterday?"

"I said I would be." I respond. "And now that I'm here, also to ask a small favor."

"And that is?"

"Whatever punishment you might place on Rin be given to me instead."

He considers this, and then nods. "Your prior work for the school should cover you. But Shirou?"

"Yes sir?"

"You get one. Only one." He says, looking up. "Now go home. I'll see you in class when you get better."

I leave the office, honestly surprised. I didn't expect him to be as... nice, as he was.

Who?
>>
>>21398690

Fujimura Raiga, the mob boss whom manages Kiritsugu's estate and finances for Shirou, Taiga's grandfather.
>>
>>21398690
Taiga's grandfather, head of the local yakuza. Old friend of Kiritsugu. I think that this option might lead to us getting some of Kiritsugu's old hardware.

[X] Try to contact Raiga.

Oh, right. Yeah, do that. I just did not remember him being called by name.
>>
>>21398690
Taiga's dad, if my memory serves.

>[ ] Try to contact Raiga.
Because we need Kiritsugu's old ninja-shit, lest we fail in our ninja duties. And by ninja duties i mean shooting fuckers with the Contender. Sword swordy sword is all well and good, but everyone knows that sometimes the best way to end a wizard duel is "I CAST GUN".

Alright, if you guys don't mind, I'm gonna cut it off here and pick it up later.

When? Don't know. Maybe tomorrow.

Sweetness. Thanks for saving this quest.

Screw all that.
