Good evening /tg/! Sorry for the slightly late start! When last we left the tribe, the grand tournament to the glory of Groza, the god of battle was about to get underway. We left it there as it was getting late and something like this requires, or at least deserves, my full attention. So without further ado, who's ready to go?

Previous thread is here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/21388708/

How did I miss the thread?

My body is ready.
>>
Ohthankthegodspeople.

I was worried no-one was showing for a moment there! If there's any anons lurking around, don't be shy! Stick a hand up and say hello! Wonder where the rest of the regulars are? I'll give it a bit, then get things started.
>>
Been missing the thread lately. I'm back

>>21416571

people tend to be a little more absent on saturdays i guess
>>
>>21416571
Yeah, the only reason I'm here is because I am confined to my parents house and home town while visiting them for the long weekend.
>>
I for one say we start, more people will show up as we go. They generally do.
>>
Rolled 6, 1, 1 = 8

I'm here, I got a raging headache and no ibuprofren, but I'm here.

Maybe I should confine the thread to weekdays in the future? I'm already planning on starting a half-hour earlier, but actually starting play at 1630EST, to give people time to find the thread. Anyway! On with the show!

One of the families within the tribe take it upon themselves to take sole charge of the fields outside the walls. They declare that, to the exception of all else, they will now be taking care of the fields and the crops there. They even go so far as to pull their scions from militia duty!

Rina outright refuses to grant the the tribe's request to help search for clay and silt. The informs the visitors that Chani would be offended by such a mundane request and that the goddess is not the tribe's personal handyman! If the tribe wants clay, there is a large deposit fairly close to the village, right on the banks of the river! Scolded like children, the party sent to ask for the goddess's help retreat back to the village with their tails between their legs, so to speak.

The tribe prepares for a grand tournament in Groza's name! Warriors from the Lion and Rive Brother tribes are invited, all a great event of battle and brutality in the name of the god of battle, to determine the mightiest in the three tribes! What will the tribe offer as a prize, if anything? And of course, the question on everyone's lips is whether or not Trym will be competing. Gerin will of course step in, to honour his god through battle.

What will the tribe offer as a prize for the champion? Will Trym be competing in the tournament?
>>
>>21416828
Trym will be given the choice if he wants to compete or not. If he would like to then sure, if he does not then leave it.

The prize will be the first bronze weapon forged by our own hands.
>>
The prize shall be a set of scale armor and Trym will be joining.
>>
>>21416873
He has a kid, we can't make him participate in something as dangerous as this.
>>
>>21416866

>>
>>21416958
I beg your parsnip? Trym's a full-grown man! He's wed to Syfron from the River Brothers and has a child on the way! Who the hell you talking about?

I'm just saying it is his choice if he wants to or not.

Also, we should put together a game plan for this thread. I vote for solving domestic problems. Increasing out standard of living at home and investigating god strength. lets flesh out our wolf priest and send him off to meditate in the Wolf's Wood until we have a better communion with our wolf god. I think we need magic, because obviously technology wise we are weaker at the moment. Magic could give us an edge.
>>
>>21417182

this would be pretty good

it would be nice if we could find a reliable stone location as well, we could get into masonry and build stone walls to protect us
>>
>>21417240
That's why I say we scout to the north, the mountains will contain a reliable quarry for sure.

Also Britfag, it's been a few years now and you said the cows were going to keep breeding on their own. How many do we have now? (In ideal conditions the herd should be at somewhere around 25 individuals at this point, but of course seeing that this isn't ideal it's your call).

> Domestic and peaceful concerns
> Not raiding and reaving and slaying and eating godflesh
> Who are you and what have you done with Refrek?

The prize is set and entrusted to the shrine of Groza for safekeeping; a coat of copper scales and a blade of bronze. Fitting prizes indeed for the mightiest man in three tribes! The prize is so lavish, in fact, that it causes an unfeasible number of people, men and women, to attend, in the hopes of winning their fortune. What few expected though and what sends a shock through the council, is that while Trym competes... He does so in the name of his wife's tribe! There is a great deal of muttering and grumbling over this, as it leaves the Wolfsbane without their greatest warrior!

The fighters assemble and the rules of the tournament are made clear... There are none! Gerin, it seems, had not thought to make any! Anything goes in the brawl, with the exception of weapons. The last man standing of over eighty competitors, wins the grand prize! With a roar, the brawl begins and instantly dissolves into ugly anarchy. The Lion Tribe sent the most and most ferocious warriors, but with their most experienced fighters dead in the war with Wolfsbane, most are un-tested. The River Brothers sent only a few hunters, but they have Trym on their side, while Wolfsbane has the most numerous and experienced.

I might have to leave for an hour to two. So I am putting up my suggestion for what to do next turn now.

H) Send out wolf priest to commune in the wolf wood to gain a better understanding of how to channel Hrunti's power.
C) Gather a shit ton of clay
A) Send scouts to the mountains in the north to try and find stone or metal resources. Give them a few of our carts so they can make it all the way there and bring back samples of whatever they find.
>>
...britfag?
>>
> Wow, more people here than I anticipated! Given my low rolls though, I guess you guys are fine!

Though all the combatants are the best of the best, eventually, the Wolfsbane's experience just begins to tell. Gerin's towering form stands dominant for much of the contest, his fists swinging left and right. Eventually however, he is brought down by sheer weight of numbers, as a dozen men leap on him at once! Finally, the champion stands, battered and bloody, a woman; one of Groza's faithful, barely standing, but triumphant. She is hailed by the tribes, cheered and celebrated. As Gerin is unconscious, she claims the prizes herself, before promptly passing out.

> Name the champion, if you want a new hero in the tribe!

Dammit Gerin, why do you have to be a damage sponge?

Her name is Sallina, one of the devouts of Groza and known for being small in statue but extremely quick and nimble. She had red hair like Gerin, which is pulled into a long pony tail going down her back. pale skin betrays her rather sickly demeanor outside of battle, and the fact she spends enormous amounts of time training indoors.

Anyway I must go for an hour, the things I put forth earlier are my suggestion for next turn.

Sallina is out for nearly a day, recovering from her injuries. Several of the other competitors are cold for even longer, many nursing broken bones and un-crossing their eyes for weeks. The devouts of Groza seem to have accepted her as their champion and de-facto leader.

The priest of Hrunti accepts his charge and ventures into the deepest part of the woods. No-one knows exactly where he is going, perhaps not even him, but he goes to find his god and learn from him.

A party of scouts ventures upstream, past Chani's shrine and into the hills and mountains beyond. They cannot take the rafts they use past the shrine, due to the tumbling water and fast-flowing river, but by picking their way carefully through the broken terrain, the scouts manage to find a pass through the mountains, emerging on the other side. Though they are un-able to continue much further, due to their supplies running low, they do report managing to find an area of smooth, exposed stone, probably revealed by a landslide. The few pieces they bring back are hard to work with copper, but bronze would probably be fine.

The rest of the tribe busies itself with digging great, wet blocks of clay from the deposits upstream, bringing them back to the village on rafts. Soon, a small problem with storage occurs when the tribe actually starts to run out of places to store it all!

We need to hunt and fish with our food supply so low. Also, building another store house and healing our wounded from the tournament. Finally, we need to open more communications with Hrunti, ask him how we are to commune with him now that the deer have died and such.
>>
I can't help but notice that we have a rather large portion of children and elders. Did we have a population boom recently that I forgot about or is that normal? Our food reserves have been consistently low for a while, I reccomend we try to find a more reliable source of food or at least spend some time identifying the edible plants around the camp. Ideally things that are edible at different times of the year.
>>
Come to think of it, there is something interesting we could try while most of the local tribes are in one place. It might be useful to make some form of mutual protection pact with the other tribes. Something along the lines of all tribes banding together against tribes that start wars of aggression. I know some have wanted to go to war for a while but war is costly in souls and resources. With this king of agreement, we would not need to go to war and we could probably expect more cordial relations with our neighbours.

Speaking to the gods is a free action.

And I would not deal more with Gorza were I you. Battle Spirits are not easily appeased. It would be better to speak with Hrunti for power, as his domain is the forest around us.
>>
>>21419320
I'd still like us to know for sure what grows around around us. We probable have more resources available than we think. Do we, for example, have some very nice looking wood growing nearby.

>>
>>21419349
No, we are increasing our godlore, which costs cultural actions. Also, we just had an enormous tournament for Groza, if he is not appeased enough to give us something now he never will. Besides, we need military strength, Groza has proven to be our bro in the past. I trust him.

As the moon begins to turn, the lookout gives a cry, announcing someone approaching the gates. As it draws closer, it becomes clear who it is and the entire village rushes to great the return of Mikuhla and his small party! The young man returns to the village looking tired and haggard, but only has one question. "Where is Khoine?" Upon being told that she hasn't been seen since the last winter, he goes pale and relates his story.

The journey to the distant tribe went well; they met with few complications or dangers on the way. Their destination turned out to be a village high in the mountains to the north, secluded from the world. Though they were at first greeted with suspicion, but were soon welcomed when it was confirmed they had come to learn of Ermetha. For a time, life was good, until winter came. Then the blizzard came. He is hazy on the details, but shortly after it died down, the party were forced to flee as the village turned on them. Mikuhla luckily received help to escape, in the form of visions and guidance from Ermetha. Since then, they had been running for their lives through the mountains, trying to avoid capture and make their way back to the village.
>>
>>21419385
Why do we need military strength. If we want to invade other tribes, I'd like to know why. Honestly, I can't see a point to it. I'd tend to think open cooperation would be more useful for our own growth. War is costly. Unless you believe someone else is going to attack us in the foreseeable future?
>>
>>21419460

Oh balls...what are the odds they're still after him?
>>
>>21419475
War is needed to appease the Battle God. A tournament will only suffice for so long. This is why I propose going with Hrunti. The Hunt is older than Battle, and a part of the natural cycle of life. Anything gift that Gorza grants will be a warriors gift, but the gifts of Hrunti are almost assured to be the kind that will bring game to hunt, and let us know the world better.
>>
>>21419460
Oh shit, that temple we built to Khoine. Get Mikuhla to it as soon as possible and him start to meditate to try and call her. This is not good, we have an angry god on our hands and she doesn't know her strength. (in all honesty I think she might be the strongest god we have encountered this far).

Also, that really far village might see us as an enemy as well. Like I said we need to beef up our military strength. Better safe than sorry.
>>21419475
We have invaded before and barely repelled the attack. This tribe really far down river has been shown to like the slave trade. If we are not powerful we can be seen as a target.

At this point, I think we should work to establish better military leadership and structure. A phalanx with bronze spears would be hilariously effective against any would-be attackers.

o hai brit, glad you're still awake.
>>
>>21419515
He has said before he doesn't care if it is war or not. He does not like death, just combat. THe tournament will keep him happy fine.
>>
>>21419532
I know, that's why a suggested a mutual protection pact with the local tribes. It would discourage military action and allow us to focus on things we actually want to be doing. I just don't think the best way to avoid being attacked is to make attacking us pointless.
>>
>>21419614
Which can be done effectively if we harness the power of the Battle God. Who wants to attack a tribe with a spirit of battle on their side?
>>
>>21419614

we have one with the lion tribe, the river brothers were getting angry at our insistence that we have one and turned us away
>>
>>21419635
A larger tribe. Two tribes. A tribe with the god of victory on its side. That's why I suggest aiming for the creation of a confederacy of some sort.
>>
>>21419644
No, they got angry at us asking them to help us attack someone they never met. It would be designed to only function for defensive wars.
>>
RW&B, what exactly is Hrunti the spirit/god of? Hunting? The Forest? Wolves? I don't think I understand his "sphere" if that's what you call it.
>>
>>21419690
He is a spirit of the hunt and of wild places. Also i think marksmanship might be under his sphere of influence.
>>
>>21419690
>>21419766
I'm patiently awaiting the recognition of some mad-god.
>>
>>21419827
Why?
>>
>>21419827
I am still hoping for the following gods:

Harvest
Forge
Death
Magic/Knowledge
>>
>>21419690
Hrunti is very explicitly the god of wolves. That's it. Gods do not hold multiple domains, though they may possess some expertise in areas relating to their sphere of influence, such as Hrunti holding some influence over hunting.
>>
>>21419865
You are here after all Britfag!

Are we gonna do what I said with trying to get Kihone back to the village? or just move on to the next turn?
>>
>>21419852

Not a forge god.
A forge god would be weak, a god made by men. And it would still demand of us the same respect we give to the gods that have been here since the beginning. Man should not worship it's own creation. The same goes for a god of Magic/Knowledge.
>>
>>21419909
Ummm... Britfag never said that a man made god would be weak. Besides, we have named and created our own gods in the past. They are at least partially ruled by our belief in them, garnering strength from us.
>>
>>21419909
A god with a sphere of influence as broad as knowledge would be unbelievably powerful. If it's the god of everything that is know it would be very powerful. If it is the god of everything that was and will be known it will be the most powerful deity I can imagine in an animistic pantheon.
>>
>>21419930
Also, one last thing. I have a god who i think would help us a lot. I would just like to ask if you are opposed to our attempted summoning of him Britfag?

Deval, the Burnt Corpse. A god of both death and fire, it's body is that of a human, completely naked and burnt black with soot. It's body has many cracks, from within a light shines. It has no eyes, and instead from it's eye sockets and mouth a fire like glow comes. He is benevolent, simply bringing the souls of the dead into the afterlife, he stays around the remnants of battle fields and where many have died (particularly plague filled villages and battlefields). He calls warmth to draw the souls of the dead towards him with comforting strength, and locks them within his realm of hearth fire. Where they may be away from the cold of death for all eternity, playing among the cinders and embers of their new world. The strongest of his devours ritually burn their arms and legs as tattoos to their god. It is said when you die if you were faithful to him he will make you one of his reapers, given a shard of his own fire to help bring souls to the afterlife.
>>
>>21419971
Hey, if the tribe votes to, I'll roll with it. It's worth noting though, the tribe downstream, the ones who told you about the bronze folk, already have a god of the harvest.

Speaking of choices though...

Action Points: THREE

A) Send out scouts (specify direction)
B) Send some hunters out to hunt game and catch fish
C) Gather resources (not food)
D) Have your wise ones try to solve a problem
E) Hold a cultural event (specify)
F) Craft specific objects
G) Send envoys to another tribe
H) Other
I) Ask the elders for advice (No cost)
>>
>>21419930
We have named gods, but we have yet to create one. All the gods before are natural, Battle and Wolves and Winter and the River. But a god of the Forge would be a god made by man. I don't mean that it would be physically weaker, what I mean is that it would be a creation of mankind, and thus shouldn't ask anything of us.

As to >>21419971, why would we create a god of death or a god of fire when it's probable that Death and Fire are already around, although as separate entities. Plus it doesn't seem like we create our own gods, but rather either find them or be found by them. If we attempt to summon a god of Death, there is no guarantee that it will come our as the Burnt Corpse. It might end up being the Living Plague.
>>
>>21420021
When we "find" them Britfag encourages to give them name and stories. I am just supplying a story for him to use when we summon.

D) Use the clay to begin figuring out how bricks work.
F) Make bronze tools for working stone
H) Have Gerin begin to commune with Groza on how to use his power more effectively and the possibility of converting that sword our champion one into a sword of that brings thunder in it's wake. A single swing of the blade sends wave of crashing sound across the battle field. A thrust could even blast away stone.
>>
>>21420021
Us making our own fluff and gods is encouraged by Britfag. Also, in all classic mythology there are craftsman gods. Those who forge and what not, I don't see where there can't be natural craftsmen and gods who go with it. Humans are a natural creature and so should fall under the dominion of nature, even in things we create.
>>
>>21420056
This
>>
>>21420056
But we don't need a flashy sword unless we go to war some time soon.

I agree with your first two points, D) and F), but H) should be calling a meeting of the current local tribes to form an alliance pact. Allies are more important that Artifacts.
>>
>>21419971
Again, why? Other than that it sounds cool.

H) Identify the plants available within a days travel from the tribe. Focus on find things that are edible.
G) Propose universal mutual protection pacts to known tribes. It would involve banding together for protection against any tribe that initiates a war of aggression.
D) That deer herd is less than optimal for meat. I suggest finding ways of catching small game with limited effort. In short, I want to develop traps and snares.
>>
>>21420115
We already have defensive pacts with both the River Brothers and Lion Lords.

The sound sword will be a good deterrent if either those downstream come or those men from the mountains come either.
>>
>>21420124
In that case, if we come under attack it would be 3 against 1. I support the bricks idea but I really think we need more reliable ways of getting food.
>>
>>21420142
Agreed
>>
Truth be told, I think it would be a good idea if the local tribes made all their own internal decisions but systematically banded together against external threats.
>>
>>21420148
The Salmon run and Harvest will be very soon, which is a guaranteed 4 food I believe. If it gets bad enough we can simply butcher a cow.
>>
>>21420179
Yes, but in the rest of the year when the salmon is not there it would be nice to be able to eat well instead of just subsisting.
>>
>>21420179
But population growth is exponential, while food production is linear. We might as well have a surplus for the future.

More food please!

Well, best thing we can do for a permanent food source is find different foods that can be harvested at different times in the year, and increasing the creatures we have as live stalk.

I suggest we look for a ground bird we can raise like chickens for food and eggs and what not. Next term I say build a enclosure for them and capture a bunch of them.
>>
How about a compromise? We can work on the bricks and the bronze while also developing more stable methods of food production. While I am attached to my confederation idea, I don't think it's very popular.
>>
>>21420179
Oh! Speaking of the cows, I forgot to say how many you have now!
Current tally is at...
1 bull
4 cows
1 juvenile male
The cows are all pregnant
>>
>>21420201
I agree with anon, we'll need good agriculture to support a strong population.
>>
>>21420227
Ground birds or rabbits would be awesome. Birds would also net us eggs. We might need to make traps to catch notable quantities of them first though.
>>
I dunno how much I like this system Britfag.

It seemed like when we started, things could have gone wrong at any moment. Now it's almost like things are turning into a situation of "ask and you shall receive"
>>
>>21420262
Sorry for the double post, but I'd just like to remind people that we need food for nearly 400 people. That is a lot of food to be relying on a salmon run.
>>
>>21420266
It's true, we haven't faced a big threat in a while... which means we are due for one any time now. We need to make sure we are powerful enough so that we do not die when the time comes.
>>
>>21420281
Ok, next term I say we increase the fields, by as much as possible. Search for different kinds of plants to grow in the first, and build an animal enclosure for birds.
>>
>>21420298
Unless it turns out to be a threat we can't cut with a sword. Like a drought. Or a god of drought.
>>
>>21420298
How about this for a threat: no salmon this year because a bunch of beavers built a dam further down stream.
>>
>>21420266
You're right. I'm sorry; I have a bad habit of not being able to say 'no' to players. Last time I did that, it completely wrecked a gaming group.

I'll scale up the restrictions placed upon the tribe. Starting with this that I mentioned several threads back:

Developing bricks is not a permitted action. At this stage, the Wise Ones are only capable of solving immediate problems that are presented to them. They have no basis for this technology, but it may be developed over time.
>>
>>21420317
We have cows that can be butchered for emergency food. The thing is, we don't do all of the food getting, it happens anyway no matter what we do. We just do the extra when needed. I mean a single hunt doesn't feed 400 people, we just basically decide what the tribe's surplus energy is spent on.

>>21420312
But at the moment the threats we seem to be heading towards is war of some kind. A drought is something we can dig wells for. Which I say we spend a point on that two turns on now after expanding the fields and building a bird enclosure.
>>
>>21420341
Unfortunately with the problem system we do not rally have any problems at the moment that are immediate that require us to spend points of that nature on. Unless you count our lack of food as sufficient reason to research animal husbandry with birds, and furthering the types of crops we can grow.
>>
>>21420341
If we can't do the bricks then how about this:
D) Create enclosures for ground birds or rabbits to have more reliable sources of food. Note that rabbits dig so we want wooden floors.
D) Create snares to catch significant quantities of animals for the enclosures.
A) Identify the plants that grow within a days walk from the tribe. Maybe we can grow other things in our fields. Focus on finding things that grow at diferent times of the year that what we already ahve
>>
>>21420379
I'll throw my vote behind this instead. My Thunderburst Weapon can wait.

Also britfag, what can we do to make things out of stone, will research of nature be allowed?
>>
>>21420379
Seconding this one.
>>
>>21420379
Amendment to the enclosures. Copper-lined wooden floors.
>>
>>21420426
Copper wouldn't be necessary, rabbits can not burrow through wood.
>>
>>21420441
Looked it up. You are right. Put the floors in the bird enclosures as well because foxes.
>>
>>21420471
Your animal husbandry does not extend to this point yet (besides, bunnies are a pain to keep. They are wild in England everywhere because some Norman gamekeeper fucked up once).

>>21420391
I'm not sure what you mean by 'research of nature'. Anyone can tell you can stack stones together to make something though.

In preparation for more, smaller animals, the tribe sets to work building small enclosures for the catch. In addition to these fences, several non-lethal snares are made by the hunters, who are eager to try for prey other than just deer for once. Mikuhla mentions that, while travelling to the north, he and his group did find a strange variety of flightless bird that tasted very good when caught and cooked.

Scouts head out into the nearby woods and up and down the river, looking for anything that might be edible. This first proper survey for anything at all is extremely promising! In the marshlands upriver, edible bullrush roots are recovered and in the woods, the scouts observe and track the animals, to return with wild carrots and peas. Some smart-ass comes back with an armful of stinging nettles, before going to cake his swollen, burning arms in cool clay. Once stewed however, they're actually not that bad. All in all, the forest has plenty of plants, if only one has the patience to look, at the right time of year.

The salmon run has begun! The river is once again filled with fish.

The harvest this year is strangely poor. The fields outside the village seem to have not yielded much in the way of grain for the tribe. The family that claimed stewardship over the fields is at a complete loss and much faith that was placed in them is lost.

Action Points: THREE

A) Send out scouts (specify direction)
B) Send some hunters out to hunt game and catch fish
C) Gather resources (not food)
D) Have your wise ones try to solve a problem
E) Hold a cultural event (specify)
F) Craft specific objects
G) Send envoys to another tribe
H) Other
I) Ask the elders for advice (No cost)
>>
>>21420628
H) Expand the fields and begin planting some different crops in addition to grain
A) Send a party north to capture some of those flightless birds, as many as possible as soon as possible
B) Go catch salmon.
>>
>>21420628
B) Gotta get them fish son

F/D) Get us some mining tools, we need them stone homes.

H) Go and ask Hrunti if there is a forest god anywhere that could help us with finding food. If anyone knows where one would be, it's Hrunti.
>>
>>21420685

i agree with this

id also like to add that now we'll be adding new crops, we should start setting up crop rotations since it leads to better yields and is better for the land
>>
>>21420594
If we can't keep them we can at least set up snares if we know there are decent populations nearby. The thing is we have to make special expeditions to raise our food stocks fairly often so we're clearly eating more than we're producing.
Since this only sort of worked, I suggest we send envoys to that strange village Mikukla visited. We need to know if we have an enemy there. If we don't then we should enquire into acquiring a few of their delicious birds.

So, here is the course of action I suggest:
B) Fish. A lot.
G) Send envoys to that mountain village. If they are non hostile, inquire about those birds.
G) Propose the confederacy plan to the tribes we already have mutual defence agreements with. We might have an enemy on our hands so we want to strengthen our ties with our allies.
>>
>>21420713
But wouldn't the tribe need to observe that for a while before they figure out that crop rotations are a good thing?

It took regular humans a couple generations I'm sure before they figured out about crop rotations.
>>
>>21420744

i guess thats true

perhaps we should research it to solve the problem of our low grain yield this year
>>
>>21420700
We already sent out Hrunti's priest. He has been communing in the wild for months, eventually he will come back with new knowledge.

>>21420736
We don't know how such a thing as a confederacy works. We have done the best we can at the moment by joining the tribes through marriage. best we can do is try to marry of Gerin to one of the Lion Lords.
>>
>>21420744
Real humans didn't have a harvest god/dess to ask for advice. Then again, neither do you. If only you knew someone who did though...
>>
>>21420713
The earliest record of crop rotation I'm aware of is Roman. We are not sophisticated enough for it to occur to us that the soil might run out. Even if it diminished, we'd probably blame some god for cursing the soil.
>>
>>21420761
We don't know how an alliance works, but we magically know that planting new crops will work better?
>>
>>21420768
God dammit, do you really want us to be friends with them that much...

Fine, next turn we'll send down an envoy with gifts.
>>
>>21420784
inb4 he meant the tribe in the other direction
>>
>>21420777
We don't? ''If someone attacks on of us we'll all help'' is beyond us?
>>
>>21420777
No, we are not doing crop rotations, just widening our diet by adding new kinds of plants. We're expanding the fields and planting them in different places, no rotating the crops. It seems like a natural extension, where as an entire government system does not. Confederacy is a lot more complicated than just an alliance, which we already have
>>
>>21420792
We already know they have a harvest god, so I am sure he means them.
>>21420796
We already have that with both the Lion Lords and River Brothers, along with a political marriage with the River Brothers and trade relations with both and shared cultural events. What exactly more do you want?
>>
>>21420808
Compromise then.
1) Expanded fields with newly discovered plants.
2) Envoy to the mountain tribe to know for sure if we have an enemy there. If they are not hostile, enquire about delicious birds.
3) Fish.
>>
>>21420831
I was under the impression that our alliances were very shaky.
>>
B) fishing
G) envoys to the tribe down the river with the harvest god
H) add our newly discovered plants to the fields
>>
>>21420876
No, our relationship with both are fairly strong. Ask Britfag for details on exactly how strong.
>>
>>21420886
Great, in that case I have what I want. Other than extending invitations to all friendly tribes we meet to join this network, I have nothing to add.
>>
>>21420884
Why would we ask about a harvest god? We have no idea that we're doing something wrong.
>>
>>21420886
Okay, let me lay this out clarly.
The Lion Tribe is on friendly terms with you. They have agreed to help out in times of need, if you are attacked.
The River Brothers are cool towards you. They are tied to you through marriage, so will probably help out if needed.
There is a tribe downriver. They are new to you and have yet to form an opinion of you.
There are the Bronze Folk downriver. You have not visited their village yet. They are new to you and have yet to form an opinion of you.
There is apparently a tribe far to the north, in the mountains, that worship Ermetha. They have not yet met your tribe formally, but apparently are hostile.

You do not have to trade with the unknowns downriver, but it IS a short-cut. Your new plants though, if grown in the fields, WOULD mitigate the grain shortage somewhat. And you could find a way to solve the problem over time.
>>
>>21421009
How about we approach it like this: Describe our farming methods to our allies and ask if they know of a way we could improve them. I suggest we maintain these relations. Send envoys automatically every turn if only to learn their respective languages.
>>
>>21421002
We have a small harvest and don't know why, asking a harvest god seems like a logical conclusion.

H) Expand the fields and begin planting some different crops in addition to grain
A) Send a party north to capture some of those flightless birds, as many as possible as soon as possible
B) Go catch salmon.

Britfag, how long until our wolf priest comes back from communing with the wild?
>>
>>21421058
I'm going to drop my plans for glorious diplomatification and support this.
>>
>>21421058

aight, lets do this
>>
>>21421058
Going to support this. And yeah, where is our Wolf Priest?
>>
>>21421103
I expect him to come back as part wolf. If we discover how to create werewolves I will love Britfag forever and ever.
>>
The thing that worries me about the gods is that from what I've seen they help ANYONE they like. While they can help us, they are both unreliable and fond of acquiring offerings.
>>
>>21421131
We need to find a way to make our gods loyal to us, is what your saying?
>>
>>21421129

maybe he'll come back looking like robb stark
>>
>>21421058
I also stand behind this, but lets also ask Chani to help with the fish harvest. She likes helping with river related stuff and the haul is always better when she does.
>>
>>21421147
No, I'm saying we need to treat them like the other tribes. They can help us, but they are not resources we have free access to. To be blunt, the gods can and have refuse to help at critical junctions.
>>
>>21421157
Son of a bitch rides a direwolf into battle! That's what I heard anyway.

And, actually, I'd be fine with that
>>
>>21421147
And we come back to my idea so long ago thrown out. We must have gods that fear us, but it appears that is not an option. The best thing we can do at the moment is make them like us enough to not go to another tribe. The only god we know that follows a tribe that might be hostile is Groza, though he seems much more tied towards us than them.
>>
>>21421058
I agree, change it to have chani go with the fishing expedition.
>>
>>21421190
This is why I suggest that we treat the gods as sources of knowledge, which they can't then take away, and for assistance in major enterprises that are risky but necessary.
>>
>>21421228
That seems to be what we have been doing so far. Except for the creation of artifacts.
>>
>>21421103
Your priest could be back in a matter of days... Or it could be months. You have no way of knowing.

Jealously possessive of 'their' fields, the crop-tending family refuse all aid in expanding the fields, or in gathering the harvest. The result is that both efforts are slow and incomplete by the end of the moon, requiring further effort to complete.

The salmon fishing is bountiful as always, with the whole village taking to rafts and canoes, spearing the fat fish and setting them to smoke and dry for preservation.

A small party of villagers heads north with the snares and traps. They eventually return in triumph, although looking somewhat the worse for wear, after the long hunting trip. They bring with them a total of seven live birds.

> I will not be tracking hens and cocks for the chickens. Instead, I'll just keep an overall number.
>>
Rolled 5, 2, 3 = 10

Sorry for being gone so long, guys, I got enthralled in some CK2 that ended in me being the Danish king of England.

On the upside...

>>21421294

Chicken Get!
>>
>>21421294
Yeah that's not going to slide. You don't get to hinder the efforts of the entire tribe because of ego. They are hindering the food production efforts of tribe out of misguided pride; they can not be allowed to continue.
>>
>>21421159
Sadly, this came in after I'd already written the action. But YES, heroes like Rina (Chani's priestess) DO help with tasks. People seem to forget this.

>>21421279
I'm telling you, the creation of artefacts is another issue and one that'll require a great deal of study to master. It IS, in part, tied to the gods, but the things they create are much more focused than a true artefact, usually useful for exactly one thing. Besides anything else, the gods are still fairly young, just like you are, for now.

>>
>>21421294
Tell them if they are going to act like that they are going to be disbanded. We are a single tribe, one can not do such a thing.

H) Another time completing the expansion of the fields
F) Construct tools to work stone, out of Bronze.
G) Send an envoy down river to that tribe with the single chieftain. Pile them up with gifts so that we can trade for both information and goods.

It's half three in the morning here now, so I think that's where I'll call it for tonight. I apologise for my connection issues earlier. Hopefully, things will go better next time.

SPEAKING OF! Next time, I will be posting the thread at 1600EST! You heard me right; I am altering the time! Actual gameplay will still commence at 1630EST, but I figure putting the thread up early will give everyone a chance to find it and get their shit together, before the game proper starts. I do this, in the hope it'll avoid some of the issues we've been having with people not showing up at the start of the thread.

The next thread then will be on TUESDAY, at 1600EST! I hope to see you all there and wish you a good life in the meantime! See you there!
