Ok guys. It's that time again. A fantasy Civ game. I got a few races for you to pick from. Plus a sort of Unique alternative

Humans: The Youngest of the races of the world. They mostly live out in the forests, near the plains, or by the sea. They are the most flexible of races. But they have little innate knowledge of crafting, but pick things up like Magic quickly.

Dwarves: And Older race that live in the mountains. Through out the lands they are known for their skills of Craftmanship and Metal working. They are hardy people and do have quite powerful skills in crafting. However, their magical potential is lacking.

Elves: Your magical, long living, forest people of magic and bows. They're natural ingrained magical potential is only rivaled by the skill of the Dwarven crafting. While they live in the forests, they do not have grand cities most of the time and are content with small towns. With the occasional Fortress built into a natural cliff face. Their only problem is that, with long life, comes harder to have Children.

495 KB
Orcs: Green skinned brutes that love war. They live mostly in nomadic tribes to hunt and sometimes go to war on others in harsh areas of the world. While being very dim in some areas. They're weapons are some of the finest, along with some of the best armor. They are very war like, and not the best at making their own food.

Draconians: Magical Creatures born from eggs of dragons, but mutated by different natural magics, or by some act of gods, or a drunk wizard. They have evolved to mini draconic humanoids and can sometimes fly and most have some form of breath weapon. Their only problem is, that they largely mimic the advances of others. Rarely doing anything for themselves except for learning different magics and ways to use their natural breath weapons.
>>
File: 1352068323523.jpg-(46 KB, 400x228, black-dragon.jpg)
46 KB
ALTERNATIVE:
Dragon: Unlike the other races. You start as some sort of dragon. Metalic or Chromatic. Then go through life. Through the life you can learn different magics. Start some sort of magical gold horde. Maybe even learn enough magics to transform, walk among the lower creatures and rule them from the shadows, Or simply use your Draconic might to enslave them.

Or you can write in something. I don't mind really.

I want to play orcs, will it take long to play?
>>

...Challange Accepted. Because you know what. Out of the shit...no one has thought out a 'Cat Girl' race for this stuff.

Give me a moment and I'll think of one. Just Ears and Tail, or more like humanoid animal?
>>
>>21432017
It depends. Usually Civ games take a while. Mostly they are logged and then. Given some sort of name. Most of the time they advance through different time periods. Starting with their 'tribal' stage.

Cat Clan: A group of creatures having the traits of Felines. Most have some sort of tail, all have cat like ears. Sometimes they are more beastial then their other clan members. And thus are powerful warriors or hunters. This being said, the main disadvantage of the clan is, their limited numbers. They do how ever have very high curiosity and easily figure out how to make something work, more find a new way to solve a problem.

>>
Wierd civ game idea!

Race: spider-like parasites that take over an animals body by crawling through the nose into the brain. Ruled by queen spider. Starter host is lemurs. Can capture different animals for jobs.

Location: a giant tree(think Avatar) surrounded by a tropical jungle
>>
>>21431965
Let's go with dragons. That actually sounds pretty cool. Great starter for getting slave races and making half-dragon castes.
>>
>>21432072
I gave you both. Sometimes born just ears and Tail. Sometimes more beastial. Mostly cause I think that makes them a wee bit more interesting.

Any more votes from this? I could pull together another race. Or we could have more votes for any of them.
Also, Cat clan would live in the Jungle...and the Jungle would be mighty.
>>
>>21432223
If the cats get access to shapshifting magic and are semi-solitary nomads who are only loosely aligned into a tribe, I'll change my vote from dragon to catgirls.

Webweaver Spiders: Magical spiders roughly the size of a dog. These have odd intelligence for being a creature of the forest. Many of the other races told stories of how the spiders crafted things, even hollowed out the great trees of Fairies. But none ever knew, that the magical beings would live among the tree tops of the jungle. With nets of spider silk catching many a creature to devour.

DRAGONS IT IS!
Now you have to vote on what Color dragon you want to be.
I'll give basic stats and where dragons live now.

Red Dragons: Basic Dragons. They have fire breath. They live in the high mountains and love gold.
Blue Dragon: They live in the Deserts. They love eating Camels and gold. They shoot lightning.
White Dragons: They live in the icey parts of the world. Usually breathing icy breaths and doing things of that nature. They mostly live in Ice Caves and normally smaller than most.

Black Dragons: They live in swamps. They breath acid. And...well normally are your draconic evil BBEG

Red dragons.

>>
>>21432509
Of those, I'm leaning towards red dragons, since the mountains would be good for us establishing a nice slave community in relative isolation.
>>
>>21432509
My vote's on black dragon until the rest are revealed.
>>
Ok, fun fact: a red dragon is very powerful. To make it a bit more interesting, I'd suggest we go with a younger dragon.
>>
>>21432509
Brass Dragons: Live in desert canyons mostly. Like the Blue dragons. It breaths Fire. Most known for it's goofy nature and good will.

Bronze Dragon: They live near the ocean most of the time. So they smell of the Sea. They have 'Repulistory' breath. (What ever the fuck that means)

Green Dragons: They live in the forests most of the time. They're mostly plotters and just chill, having some big plan in mind.
>>
>>21432659
I suggest we go with brass dragon
>>
>>21432659
Okay, either Bronze (because I think they can breathe underwater, which would let us be things from the deep patronizing towns that worship us as gods, creating scaly water-breathing hybrids) or Red (because of mountainous isolation).
>>
>>21432509
Blue dargons. They're the dragon mafia.
>>
>>21432659
Gold Dragons:Your Good Guy Greg. Of Dragon kind. Normally the 'goodie two shoes of the group' They eat gold, breath fire.

Silver Dragon: They live in the clouds. Normally fight with Red Dragons for Territory. They also breath Icy air for a breath weapon that can coat shit with Ice.

(That should be about it.)

ALSO: You'll be starting as a young dragon. A little out of the hatching stage after your parent sent you off alone when they knew you'd be able to learn how to do shit on your own.
>>
>>21432729
Okay, my vote is Bronze, Silver, or Red. Pick one of those in the event of needing a tie-breaker.

It was the Broken Lands Islands. Long ago, longer than most care to think back to. Or even remember by dragon standards. The land had been much larger and set together.

After a mighty battle, most think of when the gods battle on the earth of the mortal plane themselves. They broke up the world...making the oceans and the islands now that most live on.

Some large islands with many mountains are still around yes, but much of the world is smaller islands. Populated by many different races having adapted to the new world.

Many dragons lived on the large and new 'main lands' except for a few. The Bronze dragons thrived in this new world. One Dragoness left her hatchling on an island a flew away. Closer to her own home closer to the mainland.

Where she was left was a rather large island. Farther than most Dragons, or any being from the mainlands sailed to. Making the surrounding area uncharted, and thus, empty of most other dragons or advanced peoples.

Young Surina had learned to swim, and learned the very bare bones basics of flying from her mother. Along with her natural Draconic language. After that, she was left on the beach. Alone. Young. And in uncharted lands.

Seems fitting for a youngling in a broken world.
What would you have her do?

1: Explore the Island she's on.
2: Explore the surrounding ocean.
3: Try to fly around somewhere to find something.
>>
>>21433086
1, let's try and find a suitable lair to stay in
>>
Is there some way we can get waterbreathing and set up our lair beneath the ocean, prefrably close to an island?

Also 2 explore the ocean
>>
>>21433134
Waterbreathing would be a natural power of the Bronze Dragon. Sorry I forgot to put that.
>>
>>21433129
Wouldn't we want an underwater lair, or one accessible only by water? Like a dolphin rape cave, only with dragons.

So I guess I'll go for #2.

It's good to know who's inhabiting the island, and it'll probably take a couple of days to find a good enough lair underwater. I'm really only suggesting finding a cave we can crash in if we end the day without finding a good hideout.

But first...OCEAN TIME!)

Surina walks to the shore having watched her mother fly off without here. Being the only of her clutch it did not sadden her. She had no brothers or sisters. So she did what she had on her mind.

She walked into the nice, tropical water and swam a bit. She dived into the deeper areas around it. Seeing quite a few old stones around the area. Most looking...unatural. She swam around them quickly. She noticed a small reef a good ways away. And noted it for something to eat later.

As she swam around the stones. She found many flat stones. And amount them all...a rotting bit of tied together logs with vines and other old bits of wood. Seems like something made something out of this all.

She could see the sun setting from the water. But she was curious. Wondering what she should do.
1: Investigate the odd wooden things.
2: Back to the island before nightfall.
>>

2, let's not get lost deep in the ocean over some rotting wood.

(Island it is it seems by two votes)

She shrugs off the bit of wood. Thinking it was old bit of wood having just fallen into the water. She swims to the surface as the sun goes lower and lower into the sky. She reaches the island just at Sun set.

But where to now?

1: Explore the beach.
2: Go deeper into the island to explore
3: Fly looking for something

She prys the cork out of the bottle and spits it onto the ground. She smiles a little bit as she shakes the bottle out of it. She tries to flatten the bit inside out a bit, when she hears a loud bit of cursing.

She quickly turns her head and sees a fuzzy figure, wearing what looks like hides of some kind of animals near the thicker tree line before it bolts back into the inner island forest.

She leaves the bottle and the note in the small dug out. She runs into the forest after the figure. As she runs she notices more cursing and finds a large hole in the ground going into some sort of cave system...and a small figure hanging by a root.

The figure was very cat like, it's fur was black, and it's eyes were bright yellow. The paws of the creature was hanging onto the ledge as it was cursing looking down and then back up at her.

'Oh by the gods...Please aid me Dragon.' It said in Draconic, in a clearly male voice. 'Please, I've been stuck on this island for Three Months alone...If I fall into this pit I'll surely fall to the beasts who live under ground!"
>>
>>21435183
A: Help the odd Cat man up.
B: Don't help him up. Let him fall.
C: Push him down...
D: Write in.
>>
>>21435199
Help the Cat man, we are supposedly a good dragon at least.
>>
>>21435199
A. We could use someone to talk to, and we stand to gain nothing, not even amusement or satisfaction, by him falling.
>>
>>21435199
Help him
>>
>>21435199
With the your tail, she wraps it around his arm and lifts it from the hole. She lets him down softly and drags him a wee bit away from the hole.

'By the gods...Thank you Dragon.' He smiles, his golden eyes half closed. 'I am Crain Swirlclaw.'

You nod to him and smile. Having helped a 'lesser being' makes you feel a little good. He clearly has the scent of latent magic. You wonder what you should do.

'But...I have not seen you before on the island. Who are you?' He asks to you sitting on the ground.

A: Give your name.
B: Ask him a question first.
C: Make a comment about the magical scent.
>>
>>21435307
Evade the question and tell him that you found his pretty bottle.
>>
>>21435329
Anymore votes?
>>
I am Surina, but more to the point how did you get here?
>>
>>21435307
You avoid the question by saying, "I found the Shiney bottle you put in the ocean. Why would you throw away the pretty bottle?"

He looks at you and rubs his temples. 'Great...the one bottle I had sent didn't even make it away from the island. Good chance of getting off this hellish island full of dark caves and just fruit...' He sighed. 'But that didn't answer the question...who are you?"

A: Give your name.
B: Comment about the magic scents.
>>
>>21435453
Evade the question and tell him he smells like magic. Maybe pace in a circle around him sniffing the air to illustrate the point.
>>
>>21435479
Any others?
>>
>>21435479
(Going with Magic)

You sniff and walk around him. "You smell like magic...you know that? Almost like a large metal stick my mother had in her horde. Said it caused cold for a small person to hold it." She sniffed him walking around him.

'Well I am a Sorcerer. A rare magic user, I was born with the power of magic. It comes nearly as easy as writing or reading with a bit of Training." He smiles a bit watching you carefully. "But most sorcerers don't have as much power as Dragons...and it would be a treat to exchange spells. But learning your name might be better first... '

You know no spells sadly. Except for the basics of your natural water breathing to teach others the basics of it.
>>
>>21435611
A: Talk about the name.
B: Talk about the Magics.
>>
>>21435638
A little of A, then B. Give him a nickname, something he can call her by. We don't know if true names have power to a sorcerer. "You can call me..."

After that, be honest and say that all you have to offer is to teach him how to breathe water. We're young, so sue us. Ask if that and the fact that we saved his life is enough to earn a little tutoring.
>>
She gives a small smile and says "Call me...Caperina." It was a name her mother told her to go by if she ever want in human form somewhere. "But...I only know one spell. And I could possibly teach you it."

He blinks and shrugs. "Seems fair...I could teach you a spell if you taught me one."

"I saved your life though." She said quickly. This made him shut up quickly and look at you.

"Teaching you some spells will be hard...but it's better for both of us, incase something does come out of the caves..." He said.

A: Deal. Teaching you a spell for a few.
B: Ask him about the spells.
C: Ask him about the cave.
>>
>>21435758
Deal, then ask him all the questions. All of them. We're young and curious and brilliant, because we're a dragon.
>>
A and C, we need information and power and some sort of sweet lair beneath the waves, plus if we teach this guy waterbreathing he could join us as an asset to our rise to power
>>
>>21435803
She smiles as she says 'Deal Sir Cairn, but where shall we learn?"

He rubs his furry chin and says, "I've been sleeping in a small tent like thing on the beach. We can start there.' He got up and walked toward the beach. She follows quick behind and he has a small set up. A small fire ring of stones and twigs.

The first lesson is from him. He teaches you as it comes a little past noon of the spell 'Light'. A simple spell to make a light during the nighttime.

"There...a simple spell. But very useful." He smiles at your small bronze colored like you produced, albet it from your eyes, it worked.

"Now...It's getting close to lunch. I'm going to go find some fruit. You stay here and practice, or do what ever you wish." He says as he leaves you in his little camp site.

What does she do?
A: Follow him
B: Go to the sea to catch some fish
C: Chill here and practice/take a nap in the sun.
>>
>>21435906
If we're hungry, fish - catch even more fish than we actually need, ideally, since we're a growing dragon and we can afford to indulge a bit. If we're not hungry, chill in the sun on the nice warm sand.
>>
Oi, room for Dwarves?
>>
>>21435995
(A dwarves opinion on a young dragons life is nice.)

She decides to dive into the ocean. She quickly catches a large group of a fish. Bringing them to shore in 'wingfuls'. As she comes back with her third low. Cairn comes back...dropping the large bushel of Bananas he had in surprise in the amount of fish that was caught.

"by the Gods...Looks like we won't be hungry for a while!" He laughs grabbing a few big juicey fish and lighting the fire again with a quick fireball.

She nods as she eats a banana and a few fish from her large pile. Happily sharing her mid-day meal with the odd cat man.
>>
>>21436043
What do we do next?
A: More magic
B: Explore with our cat buddy Cairn.
C: Talk to him a bit
D: Suggestion
>>
>>21436070
C. Ask him everything there is to know about the island, its inhabitants, and its geography.
>>
>>21436098
'What do you know about the island?' She asks as she muches on a nice big yellow fish.

'Not much really...it's not large, but not very small. But I can find a few things too. A few old stone cylinders that seemed to be old fallen pillars. A few caves that go underground and a few old cliff faces. Seems to go right to the sea. I haven't explored them much..."

A: Ask him more
B: Ask about magic
C: Go exploring
>>
>>21436193
More magic. Tomorrow we explore!
>>
>>21436193
She looks at him and says, "What about other spells? One that might help us in our lives here?"

"If you teach me your waterbreathing spells. We might be able to explore for other things in the water. I think I saw old ruins as I was floating to the islands."

A: Teach him the spell
B: Ask for another spell
>>
>>21436261
Teach him the spell. He's right, it will be nice if they can both go exploring together.
>>
>>21436261
She agrees, teaching him a simple phrase in Draconic to learn the water breathing spell. He smiled as he said it and stuck his head in the water for three minutes before going up smiling.

It's not getting late...should you stay with Cairn or go back to that one little dug out you've made near the bottle?
A: Stay with Cairn
B: Go to the bottle/dugout
>>
>>21436330
Gotta sleep on our hoard. It's not personal.
>>
>>21436330
She leaves as night falls. Cairn is very tired from the magical power that the spell training was. He sleeps under the bit of cloth he had.

As she went back she finds a few shells to put with the bottle. And piles them up in the hoard to sleep on.
>>
>>21436429
The next morning...it's slightly as the rises you have a few things on your mind.

A: Go fishing to eat some.
B: Go meet with Cairn.
C: Go exploring by yourself.
>>
>>21436455
Go meet with Cairn. He should still have plenty of fish at his camp.
>>
>>21436477
As you go back to the small camp. You spy something far in the distance. It looks like...another small island. It's very far off, and only your dragon eyes can let you see it.

As you reach Cairns camp he seems to be moving a few things, along with a small staff he had not have before.

"Morning Caperina." He said with a grin. He cooks a few fish for his own breakfast as you eat a good bit yourself. Seems you are steadly growing for a young dragon.

What do you saw we do today?
A: Explore
B: More magics.
C: Go investigate that new sight.
>>
>>21436587
Tell him about the new island, ask him if he's ready for a swim and to test out his new spell.
>>
>>21436639
She tell him about the island in the distance and he rubs his whiskers. He thinks about it and says. 'If it's as far as you say...Perhaps I should stay here for now. Then you come back and tell me if the place is more hospitable than this island."

She thinks about it a bit...
A: Do so, might be safer.
B: Insist he come with us.
C: No one goes for now.
>>
>>21436676
Let's not split up for now. We'll practice flying for a few days before we try to make that journey alone. He can practice swimming too.
>>
She doesn't like the idea of splitting up. So it comes to the agreement of when she is better at flying. She will take them both. And he can practice with swimming.

Now...He goes to the ocean to explore it abit. While you now have the chance to explore the island, or perhaps practice the flying.
>>
>>21436796
A: Explore
B: Practice Flying
>>
>>21436805
It is now Archived. HERE

for when we all stoped.
>>
>>21436805
B. Practice flying. Fly over the ocean in case we need to make an emergency landing.
>>
>>21436805
She climbs on the top of one of the higher stones and spreads her wings. She jumps and flies over the ocean. While she was not the best. She can do a few things. While gaining height, she notices something in the center of the island...one in the center that looks like some kind ruin. And also getting another good look at the larger Island in the distance.
>>
>>21437003
A: Land and tell Cairn
B: Go fly to the odd ruins.
C: Go to the other island.
>>
>>21437010
Tell Cairn. He's seemed pretty knowledgeable and relatively trustworthy so far.
>>
>>21437040
She land on the beach, with only a slight thump. He sees her as he moves over to his cloak he had taken off. As she explains the sight of the ruins he puts on a slight thinking face.

"Perhaps...It's ruins of the Elders...the ones that built things when the world was more together..." He keeps thinking. "They were known for their power...but also for their dangerous items...sometimes cursed gold, or swords, or even magic tomes..."

A: 'Perhaps we should investigate?"
B: 'Better leave the ruins alone."
>>
>>21437103
This sounds like treasure. Loot. Shinies. Hoard-stuff. Let's check it out.
>>
A "Im curious about it and also how difficult would it be to learn fireball?"

Also hows our natural breath weapon capabilites?
>>
>>21437141
(You are able to use it. Just not in a Massive steam. It's tiny...about the size of your head.)

She seems very wanting to explore the area. Cairn is somewhat...apprehensive and insists on teaching you fireball fire.

The quickness of being taught by a master of the spell lets her learn it fairly quickly. She then insists on Lunch before the little adventure.

As the day wore on, she led the way through the forest. Occasionally knocking a big log out of the way, until coming up to a large cobblestone path.

Cairn stops her as they reach a large clearing near the center of the island...it's amazing what they find. It seems to be an old fortress of some kind.

But the age is clearly shown. Some of the wooden doors are broken, and the stones are overgrown with moss and vines. Along with that, a few large birds fly around some of the higher towers that look like they'd fall if you breathed on it the wrong was.

A: Let's look inside!
B: Maybe this isn't such a good idea...
>>
>>21437189
"Hey, if there's birds here, it can't be too bad, right? I mean, animals get drive off by danger and bad magic, right?"
A.
>>
>>21437208
"Hey, if there's birds here, it can't be too bad, right? I mean, animals get drive off by danger and bad magic, right?" She says as she walks inside. How ever...Cairn seems nervous still.

As they walk in, they notice a few old bits of suits of iron armor. Some a bit rusted, others seemed to fair a better. She sniffed it a bit as Cairn moved away down a corridor himself.

'Caperina! Come quick! I found something!' Cairn shouts out. She runs down the hall and finds him in a large feasting hall...with piles of gold. Around the gold is some burnt tomes, a few old skeletons who had seemingly been fighting over the gold, if the knives in their Rib cages were anything to say about it.

Cairn moves to runs his hand over some of the gold and check out some of the items around through the skeletons of some of the creatures.

But what will the young bronze do? Will she takes this good sized hoard for herself? Will she perhaps move into the old keep, or move it out back to the beach? Perhaps exploring more would be Wise...

A: No...stay with ze shiny...mine.
B: Better make sure what ever had this pile doesn't come back, or isn't alive any more at least
C: Have Cairn go back to the beach...this is our fortress now!
>>
>>21437301
"Hey, let's make sure those skeletons aren't going to try to stab us before we start building our FANTASTIC NEW HOARD - I mean, uh, let's exercise some caution. Who knows if there was a survivor or if this stuff is cursed?"
>>
>>21437301
B then A
>>
>>21437340
Crain is somewhat entranced by a nice new Iron staff with a nice shiney stone on the top while a pair a skeletons slowly jerk to life...She sees the Skeletons and glares.

Whiping her tail simply, she takes of their heads and skatters most of their bones. She then smashes her tail around to the other skeletons as Crain watches surprised after seeing the skull fly past his head.

(Ending it for the night. Night /tg/ tomorrow shall be MORE! Perhaps even a Cat Clan Civ too.)
