Yesterday, the party headed back to the Quasqueton caverns. After some exploration, they discovered the hidden door to Zelligar's lab and dungeon. They brought back many alchemical ingredients for the Honey Pot to make healing potions, found a ring, expensive jewel, and stoppered bottle, as well as bringing back 6 barrels from his room and the store in their cart. They fought an ochre jelly hiding in a large vat, and saw a human skin stretched over a frame, marked with magic runes none of them could decypher. After that they headed north, and went around in a maze of small rooms, finding what seemed to be a path to further into the caverns.

It's 7:20 am here in Radelaide, so I'm ready to play.
>>
>>21488593
Mornin' DM. Glorious adventure today?
>>
>>21488593
Fig here! woo!
>>
oh no! I'm again drung like a pinecone! is it terrible!
>>
Okay, first thing's first. As seen in the doc, there's a bunch of treasures the party brought back earlier that haven't been divided up
>>
>>21488593
ohboyohboy
>>
>>21488993
Right. Who was present at the time? Alvaro and retainers, Leod and retainers, Echo and retainers... Who else? I know Ruby packed up early, as did Fugwutz (May he rest in peace).
>>
>>21489035
Right. I'd worked out XP for everything but the barrels. You've got the clay pots (for the honey pot), that magical gold ring, the stoppered bottle, a 500gp peridot, and 6 barrels, two with salt the rest containing some sort of alcohol
>>
>>21489035
Oh right, Jenai was there too. Almost forgot.
>>
>>21489056
As the confused new fella, may I ask if I can be integrated, and if so, how?
>>
>>21489082
Well, everyone's back in town, so it should be easy to join in.

Can you let me access your character sheet, please? Edit privileges would be nice if possible too.
>>
>>21489106
Happily.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1klcDvOup-mLp8XEDj0_t9qH6THhCKkuEMuRy6Z9mvWs/edit
>>
>>21489116
Cool. You and your elf get +10% XP bonuses
So, do you guys want to head off to one of the two dungeons, deal with the treasure gained, or do something else?
>>
>>21489056
Hm... So how would this be split up? The others who were there aren't here now. I think Echo wanted to keep a key of the booze, rest was to sell? The clay pots are to go to the honey pot, as agreed. The ring is another thing. Magic, but no one knows what in the world it does.
>>
>>21489106

I'd like to join up again too
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gnsE2kdjhWLcapTlOb_ptydHmpc3koUjaD7Sr4w-CKY/edit

Heditz the Cleric, in editable format
>>
>>21489146
Yes, that sounds right. The peridot was kept because I want to give Fig'Tard a chance to earn money and buy it off you
>>
>>21489217
Parables aside, salt doesn't lose it's saltiness, and for the large sacks you're offered 200gp each. Checking the other barrels, you find two each of wine and ale. The ale has gone flat, and you're only offered 50gp each for it, but the wine is of a good vintage and you are offered 300gp a barrel.
Assuming Echo wants to keep the good stuff, the sale raises 800gp
>>
>>21489255
The relevant PCs gain 123 gp and their retainers 61.5
>>
>>21489255
What was the letters on the casks that had the wine? We should grab more of those.
>>
>>21489294
AW. Presumably standing for Awesome Wine. Though be warned, some of it may be from a poor vintage, have soured, or become corked
>>
So, the two dungeons currently open are the Caverns of Quasqueton and the third floor of Castle Gygar.

Work on the Honey Pot has stopped, due to funds running out
>>
>>21489343

Well how many people are about at the moment? Enough to take on what's in the lower level of Gygar?
>>
>>21489372
Vodral stands ready!

As does his elfservant.
>>
>>21489372
Okay guy, rollcall here.

There's ogres, a medusa, and a geletinous cube, plus a high level wizard. Maybe you can face the cube?
>>
>>21489217
Yes, I see 50gp onyxes and 500gp peridot. I will definitely be saving up 600gp to buy them
>>
So four of you it looks like, plus 4 retainers (Helyan, Haley, Ileen and Brandon)

Your choice as to which dungeon to attempt
>>
Rolled 6, 1 = 7

>>21489395

Heditz is available

Rolling for a retainer (random type)
>>
>>21489467
d12
>>
>>21489343
Alright, some shopping. Alvaro buys:
Five light hammers for 5 gps
Flint and steel for 2 gps
Ten pieces of parchment for 2 gps
A quill for 1 sp
A vial of ink for 8 gp
Silk rope for 10 gp
A silver holy symbol for 25 gp
Trades in his splint plus 10 gp for banded mail
Buys torches for 3 sp
Two flasks of oil for 2 sp
Total: 72.6 GP spent, if I added right.
Oh right, need a new bedroll too...
Total: 72.7 GP spent.

Both retainers swap their chain mail plus 15 gp for banded mail, and buy helmets for themselves.

Ready to adventure after that, gotta come prepared this time.

For the dungeon, I suggest the caverns again. Low hanging fruit to break in the new guys there.
>>
>>21489462

I vote Quasqueton, but really don't mind which we head to
>>
>>21489467
And rolling a D4, you get a thief. That 2d6 can be his equipment rolls, so he has a +1 dagger but no armour
>>
>>21489462
No real preference, I merely wish to crusade! The opponent is irrelevant, for who can match Vodral the Pious?
>>
>>21489408
iFiggy...

I'd like to buy a set of flasks/phials, if my finances will allow it. One flask of lamp oil/burning alcohol, one flask of holy water, one flask of pure water, and one empty flask, to be filled at the pool of water at Castle Gygar's 2nd floor (glowing water). If there's a bulk discount on empty phials, I'll buy up to a dozen, but no more. Also a phial bandolier.

Need to work out a crossbow that shoots automtically lighting phials of oil/alcohol.
>>
>>21489519
Haley should sell her chainmail and spend her some of her loot securing plate armor.
>>
>>21489491

Marcut the thief it is. I'll add him to my sheet.
>>
>>21489467
Rolling, you get Bozomus
STR 5 -2
INT 9
WIS 12
CON 6 -1
DEX 13 +1
CHA 12
AC 8
HP 3/3
>>
>>21489560

Bozomus then
>>
>>21489552
Or Marcut, whatever name

>>21489540
Plate is now 450gp (380gp with trade in). She could get banded mail for only 15gp + trade in
>>
>>21489484
Last bit of bookkeeping, Alvaro gives his sling and bullets to Brandon, seeing as he's going to be throwing hammers now.
>>
>Duplicate file detected
>>21484108

So, once you've got all your shopping done, looks like you're off to the Caverns of Quasqueton.
>>
>>21489650
Ah! I thought you meant small hammers. Okay, changing your sheets now
>>
>>21489586
good googly moogly!
-1 AC is -1 AC, so she'll do it.
>>21489519
I was gonna put all the detail here, but it looks like DM did it for me. Thank you.
>>21489658
Since castle Gygar is along the way, can I detour from the party to scoop a phial of glowy water, then catch up?
>>
>>21489574

"Let the echo of struck metal bring fear to those evil creatures who would harm the righteous!" Heditz calls as the party leaves the castle of Greatgary.

Marcut rolls his eyes
>>
>>21489695
Sure.
>>
>>21489690
Nah, light hammers. Five weigh as much as twenty bullets, rounds rarely last more than five rounds, and they're recoverable. Also, more entertaining to picture Alvaro as some guy just slinging small war hammers at people.
>>21489695
Fine with me.
>>
You come to the entrance of the Caverns of Quasqueton. Beyond here it is too dark to see, so who's lighting lanterns or torches?
>>
>>21489733
"By Ral, darkness shall perish."
Vodral lights a torch.

>>21489701
"oh no another one" mutters Helyan.
>>
>>21489733
Alvaro shoulders his new equipment, happy that he's now wearing lighter armor than before. He lights his lantern, looking into the hallway ahead. "This darkness shall be lit up yet." Brandon's practicing with his new sling, Ileen his usual stoniness. "You don't talk much, do you..." Alvaro comments.
>>
>>21489733
Figgy activates dorf-vision and lends Haley a torch to wield with her shield.
>>
There's a long passage, stretching foreward into darkness.
Those who have been here before know that up ahead are two secret doors, to the east and west. Further on are a few steps up, then an intersection with two passages each east and west, a path continuing onward then turning east, and two doors, to the kitchens and dining room respectively.
Which way do you want to go?
>>
>>21489787

"Let their faith talk for them! 'Silence is the voice of the holy' Gild to the unwashed masses, 16:87:4' Heditz follows the torch bearers grinning almost manically
>>
>>21489852
"I suggest we head to the intersection, and take the western path. Never been down that path, and the western secret door isn't easy to open from this side if memory recalls."
>>
>>21489890

"Haha! Yes that sounds like a good idea, by the Saints we will rid this den of its evil inhabitants."
>>
>>21489852
"And yet 'Righteousness lends fire to the throat of even the most uncouth', Ral after his speech 'Only the dead may rest while the world suffers' 11:79:7'. Faith and its lack shines through every action, even words. Just look at Helyan! And I will leave the direction to those with knowledge of the area."
>>
>>21489890
"Since ye ken the way down, Oi'll let ye take lead, 'en."
>>
>>21489941
"I'd suggest someone good with tricks of machinery take the lead, as I cannot be certain if there are traps. We haven't found any so far though..."
>>
>>21489890
Walking through the intersection, to either side you hear two booming voices, as one flask in Fig'Tard's bandolier glows. "WHO DARES ENTER THIS PLACE AND INTRUDE UPON THE SANCTUARY OF ITS INHABITANTS?" "ONLY A GROUP OF FOOLHARDY EXPLORERS DOOMED TO CERTAIN DEATH!" "WOE TO ANY WHO PASS THIS PLACE-THE WRATH OF ZELLIGAR AND ROGAHN WILL BE UPON THEM!" They laugh maniacally at you as you head off down the first path to your west
>>
>>21489992
"What are those monstrous voices, and where do they come from?"
>>
>>21489992
Did it only glow while they were speaking, or does it continue to do so? Any particular color, cuz I've seen red and blue before?
>>
>>21489992
Going west for 30' there's a turn to the south. After 60' you come to the west side of the secret door, then 70' after that there's a turn east, with a dead end after 10 feet. To the south is a closed door
>>
>>21489992
"I swear, I'm going to start hearing that in my sleep if I hear them say that anymore..."
>>
>>21489985

"Let my friend Marcut check ahead for traps placed by the blasphemous, 'Any path can lead to salvation' Gild to paupers on thieves wharf 34:5:79'

Marcut nods and heads to the front, checking for traps
>>
>>21490028
It has a light blue colour, and glows the whole time you're in that area
>>
Rolled 3

>>21490032
Tell me more about this dead end. Stonecunning roll to investigate the face of the wall and other thingies.
>>
>>21490058
You don't find traps or secret doors, just the obvious one to the south. The floor seems to be level
>>
>>21490027
"I'm guessing the owners of this complex, and no idea. They like their cat Mister Fuzzyboots though." Alvaro comments. "Sadly, you can hear the voice pretty far into the complex. Can you ask Marcut to listen at the door, there may be things on the other side."
>>
>>21490102

Marcut grunts and does so
>>
>>21490113
>rolling
You hear nothing on the other side.
>>
>>21489658
Just realized I didn't prepare my spell yet. Cure Light Wounds, as usual. Other clerics, I'd suggest preparing your spells too.
>>
>>21490141

I've prepared detect magic.

"Shall we press onward then?"
>>
>>21490141
My spell is already prepared, and it is Remove Fear.

"Yes, let us not tarry, overt caution is unseemly."
>>
>>21490163
Not especially useful with Fig'Tard's water from the magic fountain.
>>
>>21490177

Well I can switch it to cure light wounds (DM's discretion)
>>
>>21490175
Opening the door you see a path continuing south for 30', then turning west. From the corner you see after 30 feet there is a door heading north, and up ahead the passace continues further than you can see
>>
>>21490198
Sure, presumably Fig' would have let you know about his plans that morning
>>
>>21490201
"Same as before, tricks of machinery and listening." Alvaro whispered to the group, watching the door. "I'm not one who wishes to die to the foul machinations of darkness."
>>
Hi, does anyone have a place I can acquire the character-creation rules? I am making a character for a friend.

Also, thief reporting in. ;)
>>
>>21490240
http://goblinoidgames.com/labyrinthlord.html

And you and Gurx can easily be retconned in
>>
>>21490240
http://goblinoidgames.com/labyrinthlord.html
you want the core rules edition
>>
>>21490175
>>21490237

"A bit too.. moral in here for my tastes."

I stroke Gurx's sallow head, tossing him a gobbet of raw flesh.

DM, I would like to recruit one of the Goblin female Bodyguards as a secondary henchcreature/retainer. Is this possible?
>>
>>21490237

Marcut again checks ahead for traps and mechanisms in the walls and floors
>>
>>21490240
Hey Jenai, hows Gurx?

Character-Creation rules is Labyrinth Lords, book for free download here. -> >>21490259

DM, can you put a link to download the book in your google docs? Noticed it wasn't there.
>>
Rolled 1

>>21490237
"Very well, Helyan, what do your elf eyes see?"

Helyan searches for secret doors.
>>
>>21490286
>hurp forgot name
>>
>>21490268
Yes, she counts as a fighter but has +1 to hit. Just give her a name
>>
>>21490259
>>21490266
Thanks fellas.
>>
Rolled 2

>>21490201
Farther than we can see? another stonecunning check to see if anything wonky is going on here with the floor or walls
>>
>>21490286
The distance includes infravision, but if you move up to the door you see that 60' after the door the pathway turns north
>>
>>21490268
"Somehow, I'm not surprised." Alvaro gives a glance at Gurx, before looking back at the door.
>>
>>21490309
Sweet!

Dgure, Goblin Bodyguardess!
>>
>>21490268

"Hail! I see you bring unlikely sentients in tow, perhaps you and they would like to know of the virtues and blessed ways of the saintly smith?" Heditz asks hopefully "It is always good to bring more to the flock of the devoted"
>>
So going ahead up to the turn, or through the door?
>>
>>21490419

Through the door?
>>
>>21490419
I'll motion one of the thiefly types to have a listen...
>>21490382
"Yer askin' if a goblin cares aboot anythin' but shinies an' eatin' childrens."
>>
>>21490382
"Do not waste your effort on this man, he stinks of Chaos! He will not turn from his inquity, for 'Chaos corrupts the tongue, blinds the eyes, and hobbles the ears to all but profit.' 6:12:6.
>>
>>21490429
Opening the door you find a T-junction. Up ahead there's a path going 70 feet north then opening into a room. To the east the passage heads on 20 feet then turns north, and to the west it's 50 feet before a north turn
>>
>>21490382
>Gurx and Dgure don't seem terribly interested.
>Jenai sidles over, however.

"Well met stranger. I'm not a terribly pious fellow, but you know - friends in the right places aren't the worst to have."

>>21490328
DM, if possible (I don't want to derail) I am interested in my sideline as a Lookout for the thieves, and I would like to see what my "spying" on Samuel has further uncovered
>>
>>21490437

"'Even the dullest ore can contain the glimmer of the angelic' Sayings of Gild 45:5:6"
>>
>>21490462
Hadn't really thought of much else for you to discover. Acting as a lookout is pretty simple stuff, but watching higher level theives pick pockets breaking into buildings has taught you a few tricks. 10XP
>>
I'd love to get in on this thing, but I've company coming over in an hour.

What are the odds of you writing in one more guy, how often do you guys play, and around what time?
>>
>>21490456
"Please don't let this be another maze. I've already ruined one bedroll for a map as it is." Alvaro hopes to himself. "Hm... I'm fine with either of these ways. We can either go left, right, ahead, or back down the hallway. I'd rather the hallway."
>>
>>21490497
Easy enough to add in more PCs, I try to get on most days, and there's other guys running games on here happy to swap characters between games
>>
>>21490497
New players are always welcome

most of what you want to know can be found here. We play almost daily and the time can fluctuate. Usually starts at 9am EST, but recently been starting later.
>>
>>21490440
"Oh look, another holier-than-thou type. Gurx, Dgure, don't listen to him. You'll catch whatever he's got."

>Jenai will advance up the path towards the door, slowly, cautious for traps and dangers. Gurx and Dgure to one side and in front of him respectively, his shortbow at the ready.

>>
>>21490855
"Surely, chaos is at work in this place."
>>
>>21490864
Seems normal. You continue for 70 feet, coming to the intersection between the wizard workrooms and the storage room. There's two paths leading east, the southern one going to the maze area and the northern one unexplored
>>
>>21490885
"Well now, lads. Which way leads to places unknown?"
>>
>>21490885
"Well, this is unexpected... Guess that explains where that western path goes. If I remember, the store room is to the south of us. Unless anyone wants to brave a maze, I suggest we head to the upper eastern path."
>>
>>21490900
"Evil hides in the unknown darkness, so that way we must go."
>>
>>21490900

"To the north? I have no desperate thirst to see the foul workings the others describe"

Go me
>>
>>21491001
You hear nothing

>>21491010
Past it is a passage heading west for 30 feet before coming to a T junction. The path south goes further than you see, and the path north immediately turns back east for 20 feet before heading north again

>>21491028
No secret doors found
>>
>>21491010
"Agreed. We're in territory unknown now, so be on your guard. Trogs, goblins, orcs, skeletons, rats, slimes... Wonder what next we can remove."
>>
>>21491045
"Hm. Maybe there might be a secret door at the eastern tunnel's end?"
>>
>>21491010
"Agreed."
>>
>>21491073
Ach. Off my game today. Also, just as the path north turns east there's a door north

"One can only hope! Ral has always supported such warring-"

Helyan: "On it." Looking for secret doors at the end of the eastern tunnel.

(Eastern tunnels being the one that has the double doors, to be specific. Was vague, I realize.)
>>
>>21491073
>>21491045

"Is anyone noting our progress? I feel myself losing all sense of direction in these passages."

Do we want to check through the double doors first or down more passages?
>>
>>21491087
Found none. While going past the open double doors you see that the room is filled with bookshelves, and within are four skeletons
>>
>>21491104
"Hah. So that's where they got off too. Wonder if they remember me." Alvaro grins viciously as he readies a light hammer.

"Disgusting undead!" Vodral readies his holy symbol, preparing to turn the beasts as Helyan readies his bow again.

Dead skeletons, or animated skeletons?

No, I'm pretty sure there are no sexies in this room, Captcha

Rolled 3

>>21491112
The library is illuminated with an eerie red glow, from caged fire beetles inset into the walls. It's a cross shaped room, forty foot square but for the corners not being carved out. As well as the zombies, to your left and right you see two large divans.

Zombies too!?

A sort of couch.

>>
Alright, mind if Leod and Krago catch up, guys? Maybe they were standing guard or keeping watch or something.
>>
>>21491448
"R&Z? I wonder who that is."
>>
>>21491448

"Fig, what says your majick waters? Are we safe enough browsing these books?"

If it doesn't indicate evil magic, Heditz starts to skim through some of the books.
>>
>>21491476
Sure. With a party of 14 you could probably make an attempt on Castle Gygar

>>21491483
Rogahn and Zelligar. You've found the rooms of Rogahn and his girlfriend Melissa, and Zelligar's lab/torture chamber
>>
>>21491483
"Zelligar and Rogahn, would be my guess. Probably their personal library..." Alvaro said, looking at the lanterns with the bugs in it with interest. "Clever. Wonder if this can be removed..."
>>
>>21491498
It glows white around a few of the books in the middle of the shelf. They seem to be works on mythology and religion

>>21491505
The cages are pinned to the walls and cannot be opened without tools.
>>
>>21491501
Aye. That we could. Somebody is totally going to die against the cube and ogres though.

Though if the party is massive already... Well, do we already have 12 people, including retainers? Leod might just be alone then, to lessen the shares.
>>
>>21491483

"Perhaps Rogahn and Zelligar. The wrathful owners of this place the sentinals as we entered warned us about."

>>
>>21491528
Vodral, pretending that he didn't feel foolish for forgetting the loud blaring voice's warning, says "Ah, Heditz, what is that you've gotten?"
>>
>>21491528
Ah, thought the cages were small enough to replace with my lantern with for a non fuel using lantern. Ah well. What tools are needed?
>>
>>21491567
Going through the books you find a loose scroll. It seems to have the Cleric spells Cure Light Wounds and Protection from Evil inscribed on it
>>
>>21491583
Maybe chisels, crowbars, screws or the like

Also fire beetles are large enough to be considered monsters.
>>
>>21491567
"If you find any books relating to the sun, please inform me. They are of interest."

>>21491604
There goes that idea... Unless I can somehow befriend them. I offer one a piece of dried meat through the holes of the cage.
>>
Right, Leod is alone then, since the party is huge. He looks under the tables and desks, through any drawers the desks have.

Krago meanwhile is spending money on a heavy crossbow and 10 bolts, and four oil flasks. And alcohol. Leod bought three more oil flasks. Is it alright if he also bought a hammer, some iron spikes, a crowbar, grappling hook, and the like?
>>
>>21491622
It consumes the meat.
But it's a giant beetle, it doesn't seem to regard you any better. It does associate you with eating flesh now, though

>>21491636
Sure. Note them down on your character sheet and the money spent
>>
>>21491622

"Certainly, although I have not seen anything in these particular texts I am sorry"

(Do we want to share the scrolls, or shall I hold on to them?)
>>
>>21491663
You don't get XP from magic items, they're considered their own reward. So whoever's going to end up using it should have it
>>
Rolled 3

>>21491663
"I see no reason you cannot hold on to them. If we need them, they can be shared."

Vodral simply stares around at the room, ready for any danger.

Helyan, searches for secret doors just in case..
>>
>>21491649
Ah well.

Alvaro looks for books pertaining to the sun, whether magical or not. As well as books pertaining to this complex, and its owners to see if he can shed some light on that.
>>
>>21491692
You find none.
>>
>>21491713
You do find an out of date almanac. There are a few books describing Rogahn and Zelligar's exploits, fighting against barbarian invaders, dragons, monsters and so forth.
>>
>>21491719

Heditz checks behind and under the bookcases if possible. "When I lose a piece of pertinent parchment, that is where I always find it. Saints preserve me, it is very frustrating" he mutters to no one in particular
>>
>>21491719
Jenai patches up Dgure's cut, slapping her heartily on the wound in encouragement.

Anyone wanna loan her a shield? Fig, she'll give it back once the fighting starts to get close, but while you're crossbow bolting, might as well have some extra protection in the front ranks, eh?
>>
>>21491744
Alvaro keeps the books he's found, deciding to read them when he gets to town. "Has to be some reason for this madness..."
>>
Out from the library, you can head back up and around through the curving path, or go through the single door.
>>
>>21491791

"Through the single door? Or does that only lead us back to known areas?"
>>
>>21491810
No, you haven't been there before
>>
>>21491810
"If not, it seems a good path.
>>
>>21491810
"The single door leads to more unknown parts of the complex. We could head back, but that would leave the maze, and a few other routes further back, if I remember."
>>
>>21491791
"Let's investigate that lonely door, eh fellas?"

Jenai starts on his way to the lonely door.
>>
>>21491819
As before, through the door you can go down a south path, head through a further door north, or go through a path looping back east for 30 feet then heading north

>Pubelf opinion.
Yep, elves get contentious when they're drunk
>>
>>21491841
"South path is my opinion."
>>
>>21491875
"It seems as good a path as any."
>>
>>21491875
The south path continues for ninety feet before turning east. While going down there, anyone with torches has them burn out. It goes east 10 feet, then turns south. After 30 feet there is a door south, the path turns west, and on that path is a door north. After ten feet west that path further goes south.
>>
>>21491935
Do lanterns still work?
>>
>>21491941
Yes, though their fuel is about one quarter burned
>>
>>21491841
I wish I had a map to make sense of this place. :| Do you have one to share with us?
>>
>>21491935

Heditz lights a new torch "Let this light our way to further greatness" he smiles to himself. "Shall we continue north?"
>>
>>21491970
Yes, but it's In Search of the Unknown. Being utterly lost is a big part of the module
>>
>>21491976
Vodral likewise ignites a new torch. "Perhaps we should check the closer south door."
>>
>>21491995

"Very well"
>>
Leod proposes they mark down the location the torches and lanterns burned down somehow, like with talk or something. That way they will know to put out their lights as they pass by the area again.
>>
>>21492039
*chalk

Stupid typoes.
>>
>>21491995
"Agreed. Doors tend to have rooms, rooms have creatures, creatures are filth and must be cleaned." Alvaro agreed.
>>
>>21492039
They burned out because they'd been lit for so long.

The room you enter is irregularly shaped, the part you're in a 30' by 20' rectangle, and a 20' square area to its northeast holding a forge. It seems to be an abandones smithy. Within it are five kobolds armed with spears. What do you do?
>>
>>21492068
Vodral smiles. "You have a righteous mind. Excellent. Let us go!"
>>
>>21492079
*six kobolds
>>
>>21491762
Lend a goblin retainer my magic shield? You've got to be insane. Retainers do not ever give back magic items. Ever. You have to kill them.
>>21492079
Kobolds? Do any of them look familiar?"
"Hold, the lot of ye... Kobolden, know ye the name Sylzxx, son of Akhak?"
>>
>>21492079
I propose murder.
>>
>>21492152
I second this motion.
>>
>>21492148
"Akhak? His father rustled my great uncle's rats. Blood fued!"
>>
>>21492079
>>21492148
Alvaro is quiet as he lets the dwarf talk, but it is obvious in his eyes what he wishes to do.

>>21492167
>>21492152

"Wait a moment, unprovoked slaughter dulls the blade of holy fevour. Let us hear their reaction to Master Fig"
>>
>>21492180
I again propose murder.
>>
>>21492079
>>21492180
"Kobolds! Who do you serve? We are liberating these caverns. Join us, and you can keep your homes. We don't necessarily have a quarrel with you."
>>
>>21492212
"We serve ourselves. And we can't go, someone will steal the, uh, steal nothing, but anyway we can't go."
>>
>>21492180
"Shameful, but 'ere be a greater danger 'an stolen rats to ye an' yer kind. Ken ye 'at in Castle Gygar, the kobold god be bound by the silvered tongue of a treacherous woman an' the power of 'er wizarding lover Bargle?"
>>
>>21492232

"Leave this place, holy to the Saint Gild, unless you proclaim your faith! We will not accept your backtalk or insubordination"
>>
Alvaro is simply waiting off to the side, watching the kobolds intensely, hand on one of the hammers on his belt, making a faint tapping noise with his boot on the ground.
>>
"Obstruct us at your peril, creatures."
>>
>>21492244
"He's not the true god. God lives in a temple deep in the desert, and his voice is a crack of thunder! But, if you seek to explore these caverns, we can let you through to the lower level for 10 gold pieces"
>>
>>21492251
"We can convert them later, after the place is safer! No need to antagonize them when we might be able to negotiate."

If the kobolds don't seem aggressive, I move into the room (keeping a respectful distance from them.) to take a look around the room they are in, the forge, etc.
>>
>>21492303
"'en educate me, kobolden, of 'is false god 'ey worship. Who be 'e, and whoy do 'ey grant 'im favor and praise?"
>>
>>21492303
A fellow on IRC named Conil asked me to tell you that he's going to be late.
>>
>>21492320
They don't want to let you pass without paying them money.

>>21492330
"He takes God's form, but in an imperfect manner. His scales are as black as his lies and he spits venom where God proclaims thunderstorms!"
>>
>>21492320

"RRrr, I will stand down this time, but they spoil the scared room of the Saint!"
>>
>>21492303
"What is the name of your God? The true god, and the false?"

>in response to the request for 10 gp

"Little friends, we outnumber you, and are better armed. We have no desire to slay you - well, I don't anyhow. What do you propose to trade us for this 10 gold? A guide to the lower levels past any dangers, or just your permission to pass? I will personally pay you the gold, if what you offer is worthwhile."
>>
>>21492379
"Passage through, and warnings of some dangers you shall face."
>>
>>21492359
"Oi see... Oi 'ave reached an accord with 'ose kobolden nae to 'arm 'em and to rid 'eir 'ome of other evils. Oi would reach the same accord with ye, fer we seek treasure, nae cold spilt blood."
>>
>>21492396

"How do we know you won't deceive us, tricksters?"
>>
>>21492421
"They admit they worship the capricious gods, they cannot be trusted no matter what they say."
>>
>>21492421
"You'll know when you leave the caverns alive instead of in monster's dung"
>>
>>21492396
>>21492403
I return to the dwarf's side and put a hand on Fig's shoulder.

"Agreed. there is no need for blood between us. We can help you rid your home of dangers in exchange for a warning of troubles ahead. Not only that, but I will pay you 5 gold now for a guide on, and give the guide 5 more when we part ways. More, if the guide shares in our peril, or shows us to treasures guarded too fiercely for your spears to take."
>>
>>21492487
"Ten now and five later. There are indeed such treasures"
>>
>>21492515
"Agreed, fer Oi am certain Oi smell treasure in 'ese walls wot far outweighs 'at cost."
>>
>>21492528
"Right." They take your gold, and one comes along with you. Walking through their area you see a small bronze statue of a dragon, worth about 115gp. You pass by the forge into a room with a trapdoor next to an iron ring. The kobolds open it. "It's forty feet down. You do have rope, don't you?"
>>
>>21492601
"Indeed we do, creature." Vodral seems a bit unhappy with the lack of smiting, but has restrained himself.
>>
>>21492515
>>21492528

I clap Fig on the shoulder. "We split the 15 even. I got the first ten."

I unlimber 10gp with a prestidigitation-esque flourish, and approach the kobolds slowly. I look around at them, finally extending my hand to offer a handshake.

"This is how we seal agreements in my people. Handclasp, on our honor... and yours."
Jenai also forks over 10gp, after the handclasp.

"Who's going to come along?"
>>
>>21492601
I hammer a piton into the ground about a foot away from the hole, then secure a rope for climbing, "Wot good adventurer dunnae? Oi shall lead, an' ye shall be second kobold. Ye should 'ide be'ind moy shield when danger calls, but dunnae ye flee until Oi fall. Yer knowledge of 'is place be of such value to me."
>>
>>21492601

Heditz lurks at the back of the group, inspecting the forge for signs of desecration.
>>
>>21492601
I'm just asking our guide for their name.
>>
>>21492647
Presumably you climb down, finding yourself in a chamber about 20 feet across. There's an exit in the northeast leading to an intersection with paths northeast, northwest, and south.
"The floor's unstable north, we have to go south to be safe"
That way leads on a fair way, opening out and turning southwest. There are two side paths going generally east.
"Down the second east path is the Grand Stone. It rewards those it favours and punishes those that displease it."
>>
>>21492702
Malx
>>
>>21492710

What's down the first path?
>>
>>21492710
"A grand stone, eh? Oi am a son of the stone, lad, an Oi should loike to see 'is Grand Stone."
>>
>>21492775
"That way lies the glowing cavern, with the beast that has killed many who try passing through its lair"
>>
>>21492810

"What kind of beast, lizardling?"
>>
>>21492810
"A hungry beast? It would be just to slay such a beast!"
>>
>>21492601
Leod appears uncomfortable with the deal with the kobolds, but at the least it appears to be paying off. He does try to keep watch for if it's lying though.

(Hopefully Leod's good wisdom score will be handy for this.)
>>
>>21492820
"Ten foot long, its face is a mass of feelers and stings! Any struck by it fall dead at once."
>>
>>21492839
Alvaro is similarly keeping an eye on the kobold, remaining silent as the party deliberates on where to go.
>>
>>21492841

"A medusa? Has it scales? To slay such a beast would truly improve the world."
>>
One piece of totally out of character humor here; I would fuck that demon girl if her insides didn't burn my dick off.
>>
>>21492892
"No, it has no scales. It's no medusa, but kills with poison rather than sight."
>>
>>21492906
"I cannot say I have ever heard of such a beast, but slaying it could not be a bad thing."
>>
>>21492841
"Maybe we should consult the stone first, then slay the beast?"

I eye the kobold "Malx, was it? How do you like living here?"
>>
>>21492906

"Do my fellows feel capable of ridding the earth of this blight, or should we continue? 'We must stand straight backed and united or not stand at all' Gild sermons 6:78:89
>>
>>21492937
"Yes, let us slay it and rid the world of another terrible beast!"
>>
>>21492924
"It's alright. There aren't a lot of us here, but there's plenty of room so we don't have to fight with the other inhabitants. As long as you don't mess with the magical stuff it's fairly safe"
>>
>>21492919

"This seems agreeable, ones as virtuous as us can fear nothing from this Grand Stone"
>>
So to the beast, to the stone, or off south?
>>
>>21492970
To the stone, first. We shall return to slay the beast soon after.
>>
>>21492970

Stone first, then the beast?
>>
>>21492992
Excellent and agreed.
>>
>>21492992
>>21492993
No problem with this plan.
>>
>>21492993
Heading down the path, you come across a group of kobolds who let you go through. After 80 feet you come to an intersection with exits north, south, and east. North is a 10 foot room with a large glowing chunk of mica. Fig'tard's flask is glowing bright enough to illuminate this room.
"To seek the stone's blessing, break off a chip and eat it."
>>
>>21493072

What colour is the flask glowing
>>
>>21493101
A deep blue, very brightly
>>
>>21493072

"I'm secure in the knowledge that the Saints protect" Heditz breaks off a small chip and swallows it, a short prayer on his lips
>>
>>21493072
"What is in your flask, Fig'tard?" Leod asks curiously, tilting his head.
>>
>>21493101
That's my question, lol
>>21493110
I consult the phial and approach the stone with reverance and awe, "Oi ain't seen such a beautiful stone. Be it truly roight to chip it?" I'll very delicately try to flake a small, wafer thin piece of the stone and place it on my tongue.
>>
>>21493072
Alvaro shakes his head at the thought of eating the rock. "Think I'll pass."
>>
>>21493072
I laugh uproariously.

"WELL here's your stone, son of. Gonna take a nibble of it?"

I poke the kobold lightly between the shoulder blades.

"What do you mean by 'favor'? What happens when people eat the stone chips?"

Jenai goes over to extinguish the burning thief, whispering as he look down at the corpse.

Alvaro takes a somber expression as he watches the fire die. "Truly sad that one must die outside of the sun's touch. We must bring him up to the surface, for it is not kind to let those die in the dark stay in darkness without that last caress of light to see them off. The only solace I may give is that he at least died in the flames embrace."

Heditz listlessly searches the room for the other poor souls that lost their lives to the beast

There's an exit off north, leading to a big room north. "Further north from there is the bat cave. They don't like light. To the east is a pool. There might be treasure in it, but it's too cold for us to dive into"

Where to? I say we try the pool, but we can't really be sure there won't be something dangerous in it.. if we go past the bats, we'll be dousing the torches and letting the nightseers lead." He indicates Fig and the gobliness.

Jenai eyes the priest coolly. After a moment, his face warms a bit and he pats the man on the arm. "An excellent idea. I have an idea for letting us see what is in the depths. If you'll lend me your flask of water, Fig, and that enchanted dagger, Leod?"

>>21494275
Leod is dubious about sending their magic gear down into the unknown with one person. He'd rather just press on and look for treasure elsewhere.

If they're going to rest at the pool for 8 hours, I'm going to insist Malx lead me back toward the rope to investigate the two paths off the intersection we ignored before getting to the giant bug.

He begins to strip off his armor and weapons.

"Well. I'm not the strongest swimmer, but I suppose someone'se got to go down there? Don't let me stop you from going if you're stronger or tougher than me, though. I've just got a distinct lack of common sense. He dips a toe into the water when he's mostly naked.

>>
>>21495398
Now I ask again "Where be 'at kobold?" as we head south to the intersection. Tell us about the intersection.
>>
>>21495428
"I'd like to figure out where the zombies are coming from. We've seen two so far, so there may be more down here. Foul magics always are rampant in the dark, away from the sun."
>>
>>21495431
He doesn't know of anything interesting down there. A short way south there's a closed door heading east, and further on is a large cave
>>
>>21495431
"There is something of value beyond the bat cave - magical guardians, however. It might be beyond our capacity in this condition. Plus, we should douse our lights in the bat area."
>>
>>21495447
"That is a concern. Undead are abominations, and should be cleansed."
>>
>>21495428
>>21495447

"I agree, the taint of necromancy dooms all those that do nothing to stop it" Heditz gasps through clenched teeth, he holds a wound on his side. "The lizardfolk's suggestion of not disturbing the bats with light was a good one I think"
>>
>>21495460
"The bats don't like light. Wouldn't it be better to instead make a lot of light to scare them off?"

"Perhaps, but where will these scared bats go? It seems like a risky manoeuvre"
>>
>>21495497
No traps or secret doors detected
>>
>>21495486
"Hm. What do you think, Malx? Are the bats dangerous? Should we keep them away from us with light, or try to pass them without rousing them?"
>>
>>21495497
"Honestly, I'm tempted to suggest we head back to the upper floor. We've lost two retainers and expended our healing." Leod admits. "And I have no wish to fight battles that can be avoided and would gain us nothing."
>>
>>21495510
I'll listen to the kobold's advice, then request, "Also, wot's be'oind 'is door?"

>>21495547
(Yeah that's fine)
>>
>>21495515
"Hm. You do have a point. We could go out, rest and reequip and recruit, and then return prepared for the rest of the treasure. There is definitely something, if it's being guarded by magical guardians.. Fig, if these guys want to go up top, I'd be willing to continue on with you and Haley and Gurx to see these guardians for ourselves. Not necessarily to fight them - but forewarned is forearmed."

I will buy my new bodyguard a shield, however.
>>
Hey DM, speaking of gems, what happened to the Peridot found in the yesterdays excursion? I don't see it on the docs.
>>
>>21495683
If that's the case, can we keep track of them so Figgy can buy them on layaway? I don't want to obstruct the party's GP and XP, but the collecting of gems as treasure from monsters is a character motivation. He could buy any gems from the merchant, but these gems are different. Like puppies.

Ok. What's the sell-back rate for items? If I sell-back Yrin's default studded leather and replace it with Banded Mail?

I am also replacing all of my expended flasks and purchasing a few things in the doc, is that alright? I don't want to double-deduct from my gp if you're already keeping track of some of that.
>>
Hey dungeon master, can Leod trade in his banded mail and sword to get just enough GP to buy platemail?

I can certainly do that.

If we get botted, it'd be nice if you took care of it, of course.

Since we all have access to the doc, it would be easy for us to take care of our own XP, retainer XP also.
>>
>>21495803
I can manage my spending, but unless you adjust the XP and let me know for each encounter, I'm not sure I'll get it right. I tried to add my GP and XP the first few threads in parallel with you, and I was wrong every time

1 - The list of Goblin prisoners - is it up to date? Is it 2 bodyguards left, not including Dgure and Yrin, or is it 2 - Yrin and Dgure were it, and now we only have Yrin?

2nd question - I want to spy on Sammy more, can you prepare something for that?
