We get ready for Brass vs Salamander as we enter the second round of the XWF Gold division tournament.

Toys and Figurines, everywhere. Maybe an anime and/or cartoon or comic on the way.

Footage from the videogame leags unto the OPnet. Instant millions of replies
>>
Just to clarify before we start

*What's Brass' Absorb rating right now?
* Can the damage from Immolate be soaked normally (i.e not via Absorb)?
* Can we wait until the soak roll happens before deciding to use Absorb?
>>
>>21499422
>*What's Brass' Absorb rating right now?
4, almost maxed. Well, not really maxed, you CAN keep raising it. Its just stupidly expensive to do so past level 5 so typically people says powers go up to 5 and no more

>* Can the damage from Immolate be soaked normally (i.e not via Absorb)?
Yes

>* Can we wait until the soak roll happens before deciding to use Absorb?
When Brass is hit with an attack of the type he can absorb, he may choose to absorb some or all of the effect. Doing so takes no time, and may be applied before or after an attack has done damage to him.
Each success rolled on Stamina + Absorption subtracts one point of damage from the attack; Brass must pay one quantum point per point of damage absorbed. Two points of damage are converted into one extra dot of Strength; above five dots of Strength, they become dots of Mega-Strength. Dots in the power
indicate the maximum dots of extra Strength (or Mega-Strength) Brass can gain; Brass may still useAbsorption to reduce damage from attacks once he has reached that limit, though.
>>
>>21499459

Excellent.

Ready to start the fight when everyone else is.
>>
>>21499591
Alright, lets wait a little bit until more people arrive. Meanwhile lets go with right before it.
*****

Your group is inside the changing room for Brass before the fight, making sure everything goes smoothly.

Aritsu: "Salamander´s manager says he wants to shoot the first round only, then go on with the actual fight, sir" -your secretary is on the phone right now

Ami: "I´m surprised he didin´t want to make the show last longer. Mister Brass is going to squish him into the ring as soon as he uses his fire on him, and he´s not a technical fighter at all. He has nothing else up there"

Brass: "Well, we have all grown a lot this year. Maybe he stepped up his game"

Is kind of odd to see Ami washing Brass´ hair while they talk, but sure enough, this IS show business and the star needs to look his best.
>>
>>21499683

"Now that makes me a mite suspicious. Perhaps he's got a new trick up his sleeve? Maybe he's now massively resistant to getting suplexed into the floor? Shouldn't be anything the Brass Reaper can't handle, but an element of caution couldn't hurt."

"Aritsu, tell him that's agreed"
>>
>>21499775
Aritsu: "Yes sir." -she steps out a few minutes to talk on the phone

Brass: "Salamander has always been a good fighter, regardless, but he has always depended on his fire. This should be easy, just a formality before the next round. He just got unlucky in getting matched with me"

There is a soft hum as the lights above in the arena lit up. The fans will start filling upstairs within the hour.
>>
While we have a moment, I'd like to suggest Teleport as a possible power for Ned. We wanted abilities that were (a) subtle and (b) defensive. Being able to Portal out of trouble seems pretty good, and his Quantum of 2 means we can get that many free successes on the roll.
>>
>>21499844

"Hey, Brass, you know worrying is part of my job, right after the 'make you a megastar' part. We all know that the Gold Division belt is your ticket to Bomber, if we decide to go that route, so the need to win is amplified."
>>
>>21499891
Teleport or gate? one works on a personal level over "short" distances, the other makes portals to other solar systems... actually let me check them both, hold on
>>
>>21499981
Alright, Teleport...
Level 2
Quantum Minimum 2
Dice Pool: Perception + Teleport
Range: Self
Area: N/A
Duration: Instant
Effect: Allows character to move without passing through the itnervening space
Multiple Actions: No

Alright, in combat or under other stressful situations, you can teleport 100 meters per success on a teleport + perception roll, with your Quantum giving you a hundred meters per quantum (so Ned would teleport 200 at minimum) but you need to know where you are going or it is rolled randomly, and you take 1d10 damage, diminished one by each of your successes if you teleport inside something.

Out of combat, the range is like this
One success: 2 kilometers
Two successes: 20 km
Three successes: 200 km
Four successes: 2000 km
Five successes: 20000 km
Each success beyond five multiples the distance by ^10
>>
>>21500013
Oh, Warp requires Quantum Minimum 3 so Ned cant take it. The distance is the same, the difference is that the gates can be used as an attack to, for example, Gate someone into space
>>
>>21500013

The point being, Ned could emergency-teleport out of a fight, then next turn jump the full 20km+
>>
>>21500020
>>21499981
>>21499961

All those triples we are gonna have for a little bit
>>
>>21500013
We're a Manager in the XWF, if we need to go farther than 200km we fly in a private jet or first class.
Why the hell would we need to travel to different solar systems? Is there even a hospitible place we could go to?
>>
>>21500038
The Daedalus League is terraforming the moon and Mars right now. How cool would a final fight in an arena in Mars be?

Anyway, with 20000km you can go from one end of the planet to the other easily. Nice to keep track of multiple projects

Also, good morning, man.
Now that we have more people, want to go to the fight or wait for Brass Champ and others?
>>
>>21500055
Yeah, if you can call half-past-four morning.
I wouldn't mind waiting a while, having more people is good.
>>
>>21500013
How many people can a teleport bring along?
Have a sudden vision of us dropping the entire XWF into that fight between Divas Mal and Caestus Pax
>>
>>21500055

With the right powers (no need to breathe, resist the temperature extremes, etc) you could have an XWF bout on the *actual* surface of Mars.

Giving a whole new meaning to the idea of "Let's take this outside"
>>
>>21500075
4am or pm for you? its 9:28 for me... brb gonna get breakfast and since Bookie showed up, we can start when I come back

>>21500134
In SPAAAAACE!! noone can hear you tap out!

brb breakfast
>>
>>21500121

And watch as Bomber mindfucks half the roster into siding with Team Teragen? Risky...
>>
>>21500134
Actually all that comes in one single megastamina enhancement called adaptability. It costs just 1 quantum to be able to resist the depths of the ocean, or even SPAAAACE! for a entire scene.

********

Commentator: "And now, we have the first tournament bout of the night. Salamander versus The Brass Reaper. As you know, Salamander is a pyrokinetic and a savate master, while Brass has bulldozed his way back to prominence this season through uncanny stamina and old fashioned takedowns and submissions in the purest style of old time wrestling. Are you ready for a fight, folks!?"

Brass: "Alright, that´s my que, I´ll be heading to the stage now."

Ami: "Kick his ass!"
>>
>>21500207
Meh that fight doesn't happen for 2 years anyway. Plenty of time to get Bomber's sorry ass kicked out of the league. In fact, Bomber showing up at that fight on teragen's side would presumably be the thing that would give us a stake in the conflict in the first place
>>
>>21500240

And if Ned is CEO of an international XWF franchise by then, we can call on *our* roster
>>
>>21500240
Honestly I dont know if it´ll ever happen. I just think its too obvious a xmen ripoff so maybe I´ll change it. Give me a few minutes, I´m looking for something
>>
>>21500274
alright back.

The arena is full with something upwards of twenty thousand fans that came to see both the tournament fights and the opening bouts earlier on. Now that the main event is starting, a quiet, tense atmosphere seems to have grown over everyone at the arena.

The lights go off, and the crowd knows what this means. Almost instantly, the spotlights shine down on the tunnel exit as Brass makes his appearance, the former champ looking better than ever, strong and fit and in a good fighting mood.

He hails at the crowd, and the crowd pops for him. Soon, Salamander makes his entrance as well, meeting Brass in the ring as he too is showered by praise.

Salamander (with mic in hand): "Brass, you look good, man. Did you finally remember this is a fighting place and put your shit together again? Because it is my sad duty to tell you, I´m about to burn your shit all over again!"
>>
>>21500299
"Clearly you've forgotten even more than I did Salamander. This is the XWF. The fights are always real, and victory is NEVER guaranteed. Time to remind you of that little fact."
>>
>>21500299
He hands you the mic. Roll perform (Brass perform is 9 with 2 mega dice, so 11d10) and counter his words
>>
>>21500299
"Funny, I'm suprised you even had the brass to show up."
>>
>>21500240

>Locate exactly where target is
>Have 5 XWF fighters spend 1q, 1w and 1 round to prep their finishers
>Teleport them
>They unleash in turn, dealing massive amounts of unsoakable, unavoidable damage

This is how I Readied Action
>>

>>21500315

Counter-promo roll
>>
>>21500344
On, who, tho? you know the Teragen is saying the truth, right? everything they said they UN, Utopia, Poseidon were doing it was all true. The UN and Utopia are
hunting down those novas that manage to breed and making them disappear.
Is this how spoiler works?
>>
>>21500321
Salamander: "I am a professional, and I think it is time you saw what that means!"

(roll 17d10 for faking the first round)
>>
Rolled 6, 3, 1, 10, 10, 7, 8, 5, 10, 6, 1, 10, 7, 5, 7, 3, 4 = 103

>>21500377

Lower case only, I think.

Wasn't that just Project Proteus?
>>
>>21500377
I thought it was Project Proteus and the Directive that are skewing with novas. My read on the admittedly intentionally grey morality of the situation basically pegs Utopia and Aberant as the good guys, more or less, with Teragen and Proteus playing the bad guys. I blame Divas Mal for his blatant refusal to reign in those following his ideology. His response of "meh, not my problem" and "they're only normal's I don't give a shit" makes him directly culpable for every bombing, murder and act of violence any member of teragen has ever done. Basically, if there are two people who need to die in the nova age, they are Divas Mal and Director Thetis.
>>
Rolled 7, 5, 2, 9, 9, 3, 9, 9, 3, 3, 2, 2 = 63

>>21500394
But the Teragen didint knew all that. Besides utopia got infiltrated on various levels to the point that there was almost no difference between them

Japan and Russia kept their nova population hidden after the war, tho. Its kind of a fun read how the japanese went "yeah, our nova all gone too. No, really!" and strictly controlled who could come into their country and what they could see, as well as having the nova run their country.

Super geniuses running the show while all around the world normal people are in charge? japan and russia grew BIG
*******
Commentator: "Salamander is on top of his game tonight, he fire leaves a tail behind his fists, and the Reaper shrugs them off like water! We can feel the heat all the way from here, the thunder of super strong fists, the power on their moves! folks here and at home, you better not blink!"

(roll 14d10 for Brass´ initiative as the second round starts. Should we assume Brass starts it with strength 5 mega strength 7? would need to take 10 of his quantum away for it, tho
>>
>>21500461
This is why Ned treating everyone with respect and fairness is important. When the shit hits the fan and we need to call in favours, it's easier.

This will be important once the Old School faction have better PR than any of the Team Tomorrows; Corbin might decide that Ned is honest enough, and influential enough, to expose Proteus without destroying Utoipa
>>
Rolled 9, 4, 9, 9, 7, 2, 6, 4, 5, 9, 2, 2, 8, 2 = 78

I'm ambivalent. Although, with mega strength 7, we might be able to one-shot the guy with our reaper charge.
>>
Rolled 7, 2, 4, 3, 4, 8, 3, 5, 8, 7, 2, 10, 1, 3 = 67

>>21500465

More dramatic if we save it for powering up when things are real. It's not just about boosting Strength, it's about not taking damage...
>>
>>21500490
Honestly, I kinda want things to continue as they are. Was planning in having the aliens attack a couple decades earlier than in the Trinity setting, thus uniting the earth against the common foe

Comentator: "And after a explosive first round, it looks like things will only escalate into the second round, folks. I hope you are ready, because here we go!"

★★★★ Brass´ Turn ★★★★
Punch, kick, tackle, shockwave, thunderclap, headbutt, other?
So, want to have been powered up already, or want to save it so you can absorb the fire?
>>
>>21500490
They'll never see us coming
>>
>>21500530
Well, the XWF has the highest ratings of any show on earth. Its one of the few "stations" that can get away with having shows "live". People normally just record things and watch them again later, except for the XWF matches
>>
>>21500521
>>21500510
May be funny to have us to take out Salamander with a Reaper Charge right away.

Has Brass ever had a super quick victory since joining Team Ned? If not, I think we should add one in eventually, for variety if nothing else.

Also I think we should get Brass Unstoppable Force ASAP, not only does it fit his theme of hueg strong guy, but we could also use it to Reaper Charge our opponent out of the ring, which would have tons of flair. Furthermore, forcing opponents into prone/kd easier is a helpful skill to have.
>>
Rolled 3, 4, 6, 2, 9 = 24

>>21500521

Clothesline to take him down, then mounted punches

Mechanically,that's tackle, punch, punch, punch

Absorbing damage where necessary if he's flaming on; This may mean needing to recalculate dice pools as we do

Rolling multitasking, Mega Wits 1 used for an autosuccess
>>
>>21500562

I'm sure we've had at least one Squash Victory since the Reaper's Rebirth
>>
>>21500562
I like that idea. Brass still has room for mega strength enhancements, and I´m thinking we should get rid of EITHER thunderclap or shockwave since they are so similar. Could trade one for unstoppable force

>>21500587
>Rolling multitasking, Mega Wits 1 used for an autosuccess
that made it barely successful, but that was enough. It would have also worked to lower the difficulty by 1

I really want to eventually do a time skip a couple decades into the future and fight aliens, I think.

Oh, and I found out the streaming service I used before for my drawthreads is a service free again, want me to stream the dice rolling... nah it would probably be silly. Rolling the dice, hold on

well, mega strength adds to a lot of things, but it doesnt adds to attack rolls

★★★★ Salamander´s turn ★★★★

Well, he´s still winning initiative, anyway

Salamander: "I guess there´s no point in holding back anymore, uh?"

Salamander ignites himself, and creates two columns of fire that he throws at you like hellish whirlwinds dancing over the ring.

Commentator: "And here´s Salamander´s Fire Storm Throw now!"

(0) : Fire pillar [8d10] => [2,8,7,2,10,2,5,5] result of (3) success
(0) : Fire pillar [8d10] => [4,8,8,10,9,6,5,7] result of (5) success

(0) : Brass Dodge [10d10] => [8,9,10,9,5,1,7,3,4,1] result of (5) success

You dodge both columns of fire!

Punch, grab, tackle, kick, etc

Sorry folks, I got briefly cut off

Next action? Solid right hands with our newly buffed Strength, then grab his head and ram his face into Brass' knee (equivalent of a headbutt, but refluffed for style)
>>
>>21501494
Sure, why not, with Brass' Mega Strength Salamander's soak isn't going to do crap.
>>
>>21501516

Also, didn't somebody say last time that they were sick of Brass choking people to win? Well, here's a chance to brawl it up something fierce
>>
Only the headbutt? not going to try to use multiaction?
>>
>>21501548
I think it was punch then headbutt. Also how do we make our attacks more accurate?
>>
>>21501588
You need to roll 6d10 and get 2 successes, or 5d10 and get one success, to lower the penalties from multiactions by 1/2 (rounded down). So roll 6d10 or 5d10, please

Rolled 10, 5, 7, 1, 10 = 33

Salamander is barely conscious, and dazed
>>
>>21501812

If he's still up, he should be sufficiently knackered for us to afford to set up Reaper Charge.

If we're really lucky, he'll zap us, we'll absorb it, and become even stronger

Yes but im rolling his soak. Each success in soak takes off from our damage.
Note: His soak is the unluckiest shit i´ve seen today

(0) : Block [11d10] => [2,9,3,9,8,9,2,7,5,8,5] result of (6) success

Commentator: "The Reaper is moving, it is the Reaper´s Charge. The Brass Reaper starts moving ahead, picking up speed and his opponent, lifting Salamander off the ring as he starts charging ahead, running towards the titanium corner post as he pushes... Ladies and gentlemen, you may want to avert your eyes as... the corner post is bent in a c shape! Salamander is buried into the cornerpost. He´s unconscious! this fight is over! this fight is over, and The Brass Reaper wins!"

Commentator: "As usual, remember you can get instant holocopies of the fight at the gift shops by the exit. And here comes out beautiful head doctor and her team, AND members of the Krew carrying heavy tools to rescue Salamander off the corner post. It was a long shot, the french warrior tried to go down against the Reaper in a technical match, and lost!"

Ami: "You have to give him credit for trying."
Mai: "Honestly, I dont see a point in fighting a fight you know you can´t win. They should have just shot the fight and saved him the pain"
Ami: "You dont understand, that´s what is called professionalism, I´m sure of it. I think I admire mister Salamander a little bit, now"

You walk together to the changing room to meet with Brass

>mfw our number of successes was almost as many as his entire dice pool

Still, a win is a win.

During the week between matches, I think we should see if Python's girlfriend can shake loose some info on Bomber Lord from the Utopia files.

If he's even suspected of being Teragen, they'll have a file on him
>>
>>21502131
"Agreed, the odds were against him. Still, what would you say the odds were of a silver fighter beating the Omega division champion?"

Python vs Specter and Brass vs Claymore.
Stop here for today, guys, I need to be going out in about an hour. 5 more exp for Brass, and 5 more for the communal pool
>>
>>21502272

Only question is how we deal with the inevitable Brass/Python fight?

Do we have them shoot it all the way, or do they legitimately fight it out?

I'm still trying to figure out what happens if the belt holder doesn't cash in on the Free Title Shot in the next divison, but instead chooses to get promoted "on the numbers"
>>
>>21502436
Honestly I think that it would be better to fight our way up Omega instead of going straight for the champion
>>
>>21506625
Agreed
>>
>>21506636
wtf man, I never expected to see a response this quick. I was pretty much throwing a bottle to the sea with my post. Anyway, just so you know, I dont run the thread on the weekends. The next one is on mondays... and I just realized the others may not know/remember that
>>
>>21506636
And the reason I think we should fight our way up is because the stage is different in omega, the rules are different, the levels of damage are different... we really should get ready to have to punch people through walls and use concrete posts as weapons
