You are a Magical Girl, and you've woken up with amnesia. The kind third-rate soap opera writers and no-talent hacks use as a cheap plot device to drum up some mystery in the poorly written-schlock they laboriously pull out of their asses.

It's alright, though. You're not that bothered about it. In fact, you're not bothered at all, to be honest. Sure, it's a bit disturbing, but it's not like you'll remember things eventually. One day at a time, no reason to try and pick up the pieces so quickly. Whatever kind of baggage that you had to deal with in the past, you're in no hurry to pick them all back up. Besides, you're in Siberia, about to go into a training round with someone who's got knives for hands and blades for feet.

Yeah, you can take it easy for a bit, you think.

Even without them reminding you, you could guess that your past self wasn't very nice company.

You still can't get over your voice, at that. It's got a distinct rough edge to it, a complete opposite of your image in the mirror. Every word sounds like it's being snarled, or on the edge of being growled. As if you're always angry, all the time.

What have you been doing to yourself?
>>
>>21635951

Well, no time to dwell about your former habits. You give the rack in front of you a cursory glance, before reaching in and pulling out a wooden bat. It's a bit on the used side, but it's nice and heavy. Balanced. It'd be perfect if had some decent spikes and nails on the business end, maybe some barbed wire wrap-around - but you can't have everything, you suppose.

You'll just have to make do. Besides, this is just training, right? Not a brawl.

You turn around, and see that Kharn had already chosen her own weapon. In fact, she's already putting herself through the paces with it.

A staff. One and a half meters of lacquered wood, the many dents and scratches on the surface betraying just how much it's been used. And even with her claws, long, oversized and clawed they were - the dark-haired woman looked quite at home with the harmless-looking implement. Spinning it, twirling it, making it dance in her grasp in graceful, martial movements.

You find yourself entranced by the display. Enchanted, almost. It was one thing to see her go about in a mundane fashion with her obvious eccentricities, but to see her now, moving through rudimentary stances and forms, obviously in her own element...

You swallow the painful truth with a dry throat. This is going to hurt. This is going to hurt bad.

Kharn finishes her warm-up with a flourish, and she turns to look at you, barely even breathing hard. Hell, you don't think she even broke a sweat with that, even if she'd been spinning the staff fast enough that it blurred.

"Murderface, have you picked your weapon already?" She notices the bat in your hand, and her face lights up.

"Ahaha, vintage Murderface! You have always been partial with that, even though you detest the sport it is used in." Kharn grins at you. "Well, would you like to begin now, or do you want to make it more interesting?"

[1/2]
>>
>>21635981

Interesting how? Right now you're just interested in keeping all your limbs intact for the duration of the session, since you have the sneaking suspicion you'll be needing them after this.

"Ah, with a bet, you know. Stakes! Wagers! Who wins gets something from the loser! A bit of gambling to spice up the practice! If not, eh, it gets boring really quickly." Kharn explains, resting the staff on her shoulders. "It is customary here, you know, to bet something precious to you." Her grin grows wider, and for a moment you feel like a piece of meat being ogled by a ravenous predator.

How do you respond?
>>
>>21635987
"Sure, i'd hate to bore you. But... i don't remember what is and isn't precious to me, so why don't you pick the bet?"
>>

>>

>>
>>21635987

"But what do we have to bet with? You don't look like your care about money? Clothes?" give a cuckle "I doubt I was that type of girl. Secrets? I don't have any that I can remember."
>>
>>21635951
"Silly question. I don't have anything to bet. Anything I owned, I don't know about it. Anything I knew, completely gone.

And frankly, if you're going to say something cute like my virginity, then I think you're out of luck, given how I think I used to be a chronic alcoholic. Not much room for purity there, y'know?"
>>

"Ah, yes, there is that, isn't it? Very unfortunate, Murderface's memory." If this put a crimp in whatever she's planning, Kharn didn't show it, merely smiling all the more. For a moment you're reminded of a great and ancient predator, skulking in the depths, baring its teeth as it corners its prey, preparing to feast on flesh spiced with adrenalin and fear. What you're trying to get at, here, is that your training partner is smiling wide enough for you to get goosebumps.

It's then that she steps towards you, crossing the distance between the both of you in two slow, loping strides. Each step making the plates of her metal legs clank together in sharp, yet muted cadence. "Then I will pick. And do not worry, it will not be something silly like your virginity or anything like that. And no, they will not involve other people." She nods towards Midori, a smirk on her face. "That is just in poor taste, I am thinking."

Well, that's fine, you tell her, as you give the bat a few practice swings, with one hand, then two. You were about to tell her not to bet Souji, because, you know, you're not that kind of girl.

"Yes, yes, of course." Kharn taps her lips with a clawed fingertip, seemingly deep in thought as she looks down at you - before smiling again. "Ah, I know. If Murderface wins, then I will give you that package that a mutual friend of ours has asked me to give you, before she passed away. She is Malal, and I spent much of yesterday telling you about her."

...Malal, huh? Well. Isn't it a bit unreasonable, to bet something that you were meant to be given in the first place?

[1/2]
>>
>>21636253
>Do we recall how out shield-storage works?

She remembered clearly that she was a magical girl when she woke up. I would assume that the knowledge includes her unique powerset.

Also, remember Girl A. She was using her powers normally even when she was amnesiac.
>>
>>21636263

"Maybe. But, ah, I was told to only give it when you really needed it. You do not look like you need it now, so I am holding onto it before that time comes. This will just speed up the process."

Fair enough. What about her, then? What if she wins, as if that isn't already the forgone conclusion?

"If I win," Kharn seems to take quite the delight in drawing her words out, "...then you will owe me a favor. And it is a favor that, when I ask, you cannot refuse. You will carry it out, immediately, without fail."

She holds out her clawed hand to you.

"It is a deal, then, Murderface?"

How do you respond?
>>

Great idea Kharn. I'm sure Murderface will REMEMBER this when the time comes.
>>

Good point. "Deal."
>>

"You're asking me to owe you a favor. One I can't refuse of unspecified magnitude for something that ought to be in my possession anyways. I'm amnesiac and have no clue if I can trust you, no matter how many times you say I can. The odds for this fight are severely stacked against me as you know how I fight and I haven't the slightest clue about how you fight aside from presumably extremely well.

In short, hell no. Besides, I'd probably forget that I owe you a favor."
>>
>>21636273
>How do you respond?
Give how reliable my memory is, I'd rather make it something that can be sorted out now. I'm obviously not very good with long-term planning.
>>
>>21636302

Aye, somehow we dont seem the type to give people that kind of power over ourselves.
Especially not in return for a package that has unknown value.
Thats like betting the condo, the sports car and the yacht for what might be in the "mystery box".
>>
>>21636273

that seems... kind of fishy.

its a pretty unfair deal if you ask me, there is no telling what she might ask for or when.

could be she wants us to dress up in horrible frilly clothing and dance the hockeypockey when we get back to the officio or something much darker.

there are limits.
>>
>>21636344
Considering how our current self-knowledge consists mostly of 'gets amnesia', it's a bit closer to betting a mystery box against a mystery box.
>>
>>21636273
>How do you respond?
How about I let you have a go on my wheel of fortune instead? Whatever pops out, it's yours.
>>
Uh, guys, remember we're dealing with magic and shit here, it's quite possible that when she says we can't refuse her, SHE MEANS IT.
>>

Meguca magic is a bit more restrained than that.
>>
Sure, take the bet. If the favor is something awful, it's not like she has any way to enforce it
>>

That's not too bad, you figure. You reach for her hand, but squint up at her just before you touch her. Just to be clear, you grumble, she's not going to make you do anything silly or humiliating as a favor, right? Nothing incriminating or illegal or anything exciting like that?

Kharn blinks at this, as if surprised. "It is...strange of you to be so cautious and specify like that, Murderface, but I assure you, I will not make you do anything you would not do otherwise. This is just something to make sure that you do go through with it, to...ah, reassure myself that I can count on my very good friend when the time comes."

It's here that she smiles, not grinning with mischief, but rather a genuine, if awkward smile, as if trying to comfort you. "Come on, surely you trust me, eh?"

As far as you can throw her. But you don't voice that one out, instead narrowing your eyes at her instead, before giving her a small nod. You reach forward and clasp your fingers around her wrist instead of her fingers, and she does the same.

"The pact has been made, and let both parties honor it should fortune favor them." Kharn murmurs underneath her breath, and it's then that she cackles as you part, stepping back from each other, putting distance between the both of you.

Wonderful. You feel like you've just made a deal with the Devil.
>>
>>21636735

You give the bat a couple more practice swings as you watch Kharn show off once more, staff whistling bluntly through the air as she gives it another casual twirl. It's then that she levels it at you like a spear, pointing the end at your throat, and then - almost dismissively - at your stomach.

"I will enjoy this, I will be honest." You glimpse her smiling again - but it is not a smile. It is more like a snarl, drawing lips back from perfect white teeth. "Hanegawa! If you please!"

Midori nearly drops her phone at that, but steps forward to the edge of the canvas mat, nodding. She looks at you, then at Kharn, and raises a hand.

"R-Ready...! Set...!"

All of a sudden, you feel like a car. A RACE car.

You spring forward, pre-empting Midori's final cry that would start this battle. Clearly, you do not consider this little training exercise the friendly match that it is - you have to win, especially with the stakes involved. Survival was no longer the baseline objective, here - Kharn had made it quite obvious that this would not end without either of you getting your share of bruises. You don't particularly care about the package, either - whatever it was, you would eventually get it.

You're just not comfortable with giving Kharn that favor, even if she did do her best to reassure you.

That kind of promise isn't made without someone looking for a permanent way out.

You cross the distance between you and Kharn in mere moments, your full-out dash turning into a lunge at the final step - and you grit your teeth at her expression of mock surprise as you bring the bat down in a traitorous one-handed swing. Pinning your hopes on knocking the weapon out of her hands before she could step back to get you in range of the staff's striking ends. This close, she wouldn't be able to bring it to bear, much less defend herself--

The harsh clack of colliding wood sends a sharp jolt up your arm as Kharn easily parries it, her claws sliding across the wooden shaft with an almost unnatural smoothness. A cackle leaves her lips, loud and insulting, as she brings the other end in a blurring, vicious return stroke that you manage to duck under with pure stupid luck than anything else.

Cursing her name, her family and everything that she stood for, you step forward again and bring the bat into a wild two-handed swing that would've murdered any watermelon it might have crushed into - and this one Kharn jumps away from, getting a surprised gasp from her and giving you a moment to breathe.

You use that moment to tell yourself just how stupid everything is.

She attacks first, this time, her staff sizzling through the air, point first - you manage to sidestep the lightning-fast thrust, but not before it brushes across your side, briefly digging and reminding you of forgotten injuries. The unwelcome pain is enough to make your eyes water, but you comfort yourself in the fact that yes, this was part of your plan.

You step forward, right into the overextended stab - and trap the staff underneath your arm, cinching it to you like a couched lance. With her weapon caught and yours already whistling towards the side of her head, you manage to flash her a weak grin as you anticipate your victory.

The world suddenly spinning, end over end, the ground leaving your feet flailing and kicking, could not have been timed more hilariously to remind you that life is not fair. Having your own ruse being used against you, your own grip on your opponent's weapon used to lift you into the air and then slam you into back into the floor with a crushing, bone-jarring thud - could not have been more apt in reminding you that cheatyfaces never prosper, and girls with black steel knifey shit on their arms and legs always win to go home and fuck the prom queen.

Painfully trying to pull breath back into your lungs, you somehow manage to get your feet back under you, still dazed, still stunned. Still wondering what the fuck just hit you.

For what it was worth, you saw it coming.

There's a reason 'Murderface' stuck. Beyond Kharn /insisting/, I mean.

Also, you made me think of this.
>>
>>21637236

A slap. Open-handed. A wide, flat palm of black metal, coming up from hip level to the corner of your jaw, slamming into your face with momentous force. Like it had been shot from a rifle. You did not even have time to blink before the room itself went completely white one moment, before going black the next. You feel yourself bounce off something hard, and fall on something harder.

A moment more, and the world finally snaps back into painful existence. The first thought that comes into your shock-blunted mind is wondering if you've lost your glasses, or lost all sensation from your face, as you can't feel anything there anymore. Well, besides the pain, of course. Can't forget that.

Flat on your back, you crack open one eye - and you catch a glimpse of Kharn smiling down at you, the end of the staff aimed at your throat.

"Almost decent," The clawed woman cackles, her voice muffled to your still-ringing ears. "Actually, no, that is very unfair. Very competent, Murderface. Treachery still comes easily to you, I love that! It reminds me of the old you, before all this amnesia nonsense!"

She pulls away the staff, and offers the hand she'd nearly torn your face off with. You manage to take it after the first few failed attempts in reaching at its double-images. With contemptuous ease does she pull you back up to your feet, and you catch a whiff of her unperfumed scent; reminiscent of fresh blood, almost tangy, with the earthy tone of sweat.

You grasp at her hands, stopping her from shoving your face into her chest, because, you know, that would be embarrassing yourself more than you already have.

"Ahaha! Stop acting, Murderface! I did not hit you that hard!" Kharn chuckles indulgently, before presssing what looks to be your glasses into your hand. "Ah, here, they have fallen off earlier. Put them on again, and we can settle this best two out of three, yes?" She grins. "And you pick the weaponry, this time! Anything here, you can use - including those."

She gestures towards the rack at the center of the training floor.

i don't think it matters to Kharn if we use a gun or not, she would probably wipe the floor with us regardless.

it does not necessarily have to be a golden one.

if there are only golden guns around i think we should go for the DEagle because we would probably feel most accustomed to it, a familiar sensation accompanied by a slight sense of dread.

You take a moment to will everything to stop spinning - you'll be the last to admit it, but Kharn really rocked you there, and you doubt you'd be able to take more of that before passing out completely. You should have known she'd have some way of countering that, and your mistake only serves to anger you further.

Gritting your teeth against the pain - and brimming frustration - you force your eyes open just as you push Kharn away, roughly. You shove your glasses back on just as you growl to her that she should've knocked you out when she had the chance, to.

"Oh, come on, do not being so sore, Murderface! It is just first round!" Even without looking, you could hear the smile, the GRIN in Kharn's voice, and you hear her clanking footsteps as she follows your unsteady gait forward. "Do not be so mad! Maybe, sure, I could have let you down a bit more gently, but that is bigger insult to you if I did, I think." She clicks her tongue at you, as if trying to goad you on. "That is true, do not give me your lying silence. Now, come on, pick something else to try and kill me with!"

If she would just shut up for a second, then you'd be able to, you snap at her, before glancing around. The weapons in the racks you've approached...well, they certainly don't look practical. Most of them are hilariously oversized, built for someone nearly six feet tall and had a grip size that could choke a gorilla one-handedly. A bit more irritating is the fact that there doesn't seem to be any firearms around - of course, you wouldn't really use one in training like this, but the option would have been nice.

You turn around finally, shaking your head - the motion nearly making bile rise up your throat, Kharn's little slap haunting you still - and it's then that your gaze stops at the rack at the very center of the training hall. Four golden weapons, arrayed neatly.

[1/2]
>>
>>21638155

Well, three weapons, really, now that you look at them a bit more closely, and a pair of golden fashion accessories.

A Desert Eagle, twin chainaxes(Kharn-sized, of course), an unsheathed katana, and...what looks to be twin bangles, the thick type that clasps loosely around your wrists. You've no idea what those do in particular.

All of them gold, and giving you quite the sense of foreboding.

"Ah, going immediately for them, eh?" Kharn comes up beside you, and you don't even have to turn to see that she's smiling, even now. "I cannot say I blame you. As garish and unpractical as they are, for people like us, they are the only choice, yes?" She reaches out with a clawed hand, and gently places it on the handle of one of the oversized chainaxes.

"I killed many people with this one, during my tenure as Warmaster. Witches, Magical Girls...everything." She looks down at the twin weapons with a wistful expression, almost longing, before withdrawing her hand. "Both of them are yours now, of course. Just as all the others are." The russian gestures to the gun, and the sword. "These I took from you during the procedure, if you will forgive me for taking the liberty to. I found them in your inventory, a strange thing. But it is always strange whenever these are involved."

It's then that she pats your shoulder, in an almost encouraging fashion. "Well, go on then, Murderface. Pick your weapon, and I will make sure that before this day ends, you will be able to kill many people with it." Kharn smiles, before blinking, and pointing to the bangles. "Oh, before I forget! Those bangles, they are not very useless, even though they look like so. They turn into, er, gauntlets, I think is the word. Very large ones, good for smashing things."

Well. That sounds handy.

Which one do you take from the rack?

... what happened to you, /tg/?

[x] The only winning move is not to play. Concede.
Better to owe Kharn a favor than to let those things get a hold on us.

Grimderp chucklefucks outvoting the players with half a functional brain happened. Been that way since about thread 5 or so.

Not everyone that disagrees with you is grimderp.

Sage for this thread, by all rights, should be dead.

So you have another word that describes "lolsorandumb kill-them-all DERAIL"-types better than "grimderp"? Okay, let's see it.

I posted this in the last thread way too late for anyone to see, so here it is again. I think it may be important.

There are 20 golden weapons.
There are 20 Incubators.

Does anyone else think this is too convenient for coincidence?

[x]The Bangles.
I'd prefer that we hadn't even agreed to the bet in the first place, but too late now, and I doubt that Kharn will let us concede.

One of the whole points of going through this procedure was to see if we can wield the golden weapons without being corrupted by them. Reward does not come without great risk, motherfuckers, so let's fucking do this. Next time.
