>>
>>21654624

Explanation. Also for the most part kobolds start as scavengers. as such the technological level is merely what's available i the surroundings.

Mountain Village - Fairly isolated, Great resources. Lacking in food for the most part. Moderate-Low technology.

City Underground - Greater technological items to be found, dangerous due to greater number of survivors and mutants and magical stuff. Moderate-High technological level.

Derelict Station - Hard mode. Constant repair is needed, station possibly failing and Random Tables will fuck you over. High technology. Low magic and Population.

Wasteland - Hard mode. Everything is blasted Tribal level of technology. Combat Magic and Mutated Kobolds.
>>
>>21654624
Mountain Village
I have not seen many Post-Apocalyptic Science-fiction mountain villages.
>>
>>21654687

And now a more amusing explanation of the danger levels.

Mountain Village - You could perhaps find something that will fuck you.

City Underground - Stuff that will fuck you could perhaps find you.

Derelict Station - The station will fuck you. And possibly your surroundings and things further inside the station.

Wasteland - The world will fuck you.

The derelict station is in the mountains, within relatively traveling distance to a village?

The village folk avoid and fear the station and all who have dealing with it, despite the wealth the lies in the underground for those willing to dare against it.

Friendly advice from one questfag to another: Don't prolong the decision making process.

Give your participants a small window to have a direct say in what happens next, then just start typing the next part.

Population: 210 (+15)

Technology: Basic Engineering, Basic Firearms, Basic Hydroponics. Basic Robotics.

Magic: Purify Water, Light, Summon Pants.

Base: Civilian Nano-Factory. Hydroponics, Sleeping Quarters. [3/5]

Defences: ??? [?]

Weapons: Basic Firearms, Basic Melee Weaponry.

Armour: Basic Ballistic Armour.

Soldiers: 25 Soldiers. 5 Spell Absorbers, 5 Scout-Bots

Heroes: ?

Mutations: Magic Resistance.

None know exactly what happened on the outside, only that great destruction spread as they took refuge inside the facility. The eldest says that most Kobolds in the facility worked in maintenance, with the help of various Main-Bots.

Supposedly when the Great Destruction occurred the Night Shift was at work, thus the legendary kobold saved the others (One wonders why the Eldest Snorts at this). For the Facility went into Security mode trapping them deep in the bowels of the earth the very core of the station, only recently has Security mode lifted slightly allowing for those with proper passes to move inside their areas.

One wonders what they will encounter?
>>
>>21654973

Basic Explanation of how things are.

Base has [3/5], thus 2 more large scale buildings can still be built in the current secure area. For more expansion is needed.

Defences where not built since the only access ways where closed for who knows how long.

Spell Absorbers are inverse Sorcerers. 'Eating' magic to command technology. No clue on how they work. The Eldest said they did not exist before the Great Destruction.

Heroes will some times appear depending on rolls and other factors.

Turns will be 1 month long. 3 Actions. Any questions?
>>
Rolled 17

>>21654973
Seems like a good core setup.

So, if I'm reading this right, this is the resources we have deep inside the station, and we are now opening up and able to explore more of the station?
>>
Rolled 29

>>21654999
Well, we need to secure this core seed of our home.

So we need to start building the traps and defensive positions. We've got a civilian-grade nano-fac and koboldian trap know-how.
Anything strolling this way is going to mark it as a deathtrap and never even see us.
>>
>>21654973

Correcting one thing, that i fucked up.

>Spell Absorbers are inverse Sorcerers. 'Eating' magic and able to command basic technology.

>>21655010

Indeed, basically you are deep inside the facility in one of the 'rest and supply' depots for maintenance. From the size of it you can guess how big the facility is.

Picture is what you know. Two side rooms and one Maintenance tunnel.

>>

Choose one place to explore per action. Since its exploring it extensively and everything is huge.

Also, please try to avoid rolling until i ask for it. (When i feel the decision is final).
>>
>>21655383
Traps, hidden firing positions, defensive narrowing of approaches, funneling people into kill zones, etc.
I imagine this would use up at least one unit worth of 'large scale building' space.

>>21655400
Hm, go for maintenance tunnel first, then dig into the neighboring rooms next month.
Tunnel is likely to be the main approach of any trouble.
>>
>>21655468

So two actions for Traps. And one to Explore Maintenance Tunnels.

Anyone votes for this decision?
>>
>>21655519
Since we've established that 1 action of exploration is one area, what is the projection for what 2 actions of work on trapworks get us?
>>
>>21655519
Since I suggested it, I may as well vote for it too.
Always the traps, Russian Tucker's Kobolds style.
>>
>>21655548

2 Actions depending on the roll. Should if both are average fully secure the entrances to the colony with the current knowledge base and resources.

Whilst with only one action would possibly if average, make a very good warning system, with watchers, basic traps and basic defences.

Doubling an action will not always be a good idea.
>>
>>21655626
Sounds like a good deal for the opening defenses though. I'd be tempted to go a full three, but awareness of surroundings is also an important part of defense.

Hey, when the fuck is the next crusader quest? Don't be such a heretic, Ridire.

As work was started in fortifying and trapping the various entrances to and from the 'Colony', much amusement occurred, due to the bumbling way that the traps where made, showing their inexperience in them.

As one of the Soldiers tasked with watching one of the entrances tripped, showing remarkable agility and luck whilst triggering and avoiding almost every single trap in that area whilst simultaneously activating a hidden area nearby where the door controls where. As the elite team of 8 Soldiers and 1 Spell Absorber entered the nearby Maintenance tunnels their noses hit with a not smelled before scent. Their eyes adjusting to the eerie red glow of emergency lights suffusing the tunnel. As they explored, nearby sections appeared well maintained by scurrying Maint-Bots, but soon enough the more distant sections appeared abandoned, covered by a musky scent with debris littering the ground.

A slight feeling of several other presences followed them. Noise of quick and frantic scurrying beyond the threshold of their vision, and behind the pipes covering the walls. As they moved further inside the Kobold in front signalled for a stop. His rifle at his shoulder pointing forward, with a brief glance the Kobold with the heaviest weapon in the squad moved forward, his automatic machine-gun weighting him heavily. And as the scurrying increased, seemingly approaching the squad quickly formed a circle. Waiting to unleash hell upon whatever was threatening.

To the left a pipe burst unleashing upon the flank a almost unending tide of rats, their presence not surprising the weary Kobolds in the least. Quickly turning to deal with the new threat whilst still keeping an eye on other avenues of attack. The staccato singing of the machine gun accompanied by the stead beat of the rifles bursting rat after rat.Their minds easing slightly as the tide diminished. But it was a simple faint!

From the ceiling Giant Rats burrowed from the pipes, their size reaching even that of an adult Kobold. But with a thrum of power unleashed the Spell Absorber twisted and lacerating the accompanying power cables, into a twisted net preventing them from failing into the midst of the Squad.

And with a quick shout they started advancing deeper into the tunnel, for whatever was guiding the rats was intelligent and needed to be slain.

As they faced numbers of untold rats sometimes even descending into meele before disengaging by use of the technological items surrounding them. As they delved into a secondary tunnel where resistance was even stiffer, their ammunition running low and the Spell Absorber stolen reserves almost gone. They saw the many faces of their enemy. A single Cranium Rat, guarded by two even massive rats.

With one final push, they surged forth seeking to protected and exact retribution upon the Mighty Kobolds, but the squad would not be opposed. With focused fire one of the Dire Rats died. On the other side in a deadly meele with the other was the Spell Absorber, until finaly while tripping him slightly with the use of a cable he twisted his knife deep into its brain. The Cranium Rat unleashed its power momentarily halting everyone, their minds straining under its unrelenting assault, until with a swift movement the Krik'ik twisted the dagger out and threw it, killing it before more harm could be done.

So, while OP is out, what kind long term plans should we look toward?

Explore, Expand, and Trap the Hell out of Everything is a good baseline, but do we have any higher goals?
>>
>>21657426
Poisons, mining, things kobolds are supposed to be good at I dunno. I don't really have mush experience with kobolds
>>
>>21657473

With nano-tech manufacturing combined with being deep in a massive facility, i reckon mining is not something that's very necessary.

>>21656870

So one action exploring the left room. Another action exploring the right room. And what else?
>>
>>21657526
would it be possible to reprogram the maint-bots?
>>
>>21657473
Aye, good tech paths, making smart use on our civilian grade nano-fac for maximum effect.

>>21657426
Upgrading said nano-fac to milspec would be an awesome force multiplier.

>>21657526
Well, replacing mining with scavenging and salvaging in this case.

Other action spent on securing the tunnels around us, even early-warning grade traps are better than no warning.
>>
>>21657607
Good point, maint-bots would be a great help to us, and it seems those closest to us have been doing a decent job, plus the Elder may have access codes if we can get to a control station or input of some type.
>>
>>21657664
>>21657607
So, let's put that remaining action into securing the maint-bots, if possible.
>>
>>21657607

From what the Eldest said, reprogramming is not something exactly advised (Due to the Security Computer). But considering that its Maint-Bots, it should not be a big worry. And luckly you guys have Basic Robotics.

>>21657628
Upgrading the Nano-Factory. Unfeasible you need a very good understanding of several field. And that's without talking about its hard-wired security. 22% of its bulk is pure security and redundancies. Including another 10% filled with very sophisticated Nano-bots in case anything bad happens and they need to fight the Civie-Nanies.

As for scavenging, good ideas. The tunnels and the rooms nearby will take 1 action each to see what's good and what's bad.
>>
>>21657713
Hm, so scout the two rooms and run salave teams out to pick over the rooms and surrounding tunnels?
>>
>>21657952

1 Action, each. Not all.

So scout the two rooms, and salvage and scavenge the maintenance tunnel? Any one supports this?

>>21657981
I think we should scout the two rooms and make an attempt to reprogram the maint-bots

Well, we seem to agree on the scouting of the two rooms, and everything else seems to be differing ideas on the tunnels.

[] Scavenge and Salvage
[] Attempt Maint-bot capture.

Stocked with ammo the Experienced Squad of 8 and Krik'it once again saunter into the unknown. Their hands heavy with their weapons and their backs full of ammo. Being careful they move from cover to cover, covering each other and this time sending a single Scout-Bot ahead of them, the ground being clean and almost untouched, a clear sign of Clean and Main-Bots.

Checking each room carefully, they find nothing of great interest this section appearing to be a minor lab of some sort. Empty vats, shut down computers and varied chemical supply's in countless secure shelves and closets. In one or two great pools of liquid of some sort bubble and twist into perplexing patterns.

Until they reach the final closed door, it bulges slightly and a slightly rancid liquid seeps beneath it.

With an almost heavy heart they send the Scout-Bot to open the door As it opens slightly an almost explosion of pure muscle power twists it completely against its frame. One could almost hear the 'FFFFUUUUCCCCCKKK' in everyone's mind as a full-blooded Minotaur, its muscles bulging and its veins pulsing with a deep ugly red, its snout foaming as he looked around. With barely a pause the squad opened fire almost in the same instant.

With a roar almost not noticing the bullets impacting in his tough skin and sometimes penetrating, it charges the upturned bench. With an almighty impact his charge sends the bench flying back and the Kobolds hiding behind it with the exception of Krik'ik accompanying it, like dolls.

The Minotaur head bleeding from the almost unending stream of bullets, charges into the tree battering a kobold heavily, luckily his astounding force diverted slightly by the tree. With a mighty grab and tug the tree is ripped out from the ground and thrown at Hezix, his gun and the platform clattering to the ground as he twists to the side and grabs a wire, his hand sizzling from its heat.

With one final roar the behemoth charges and jumps to grab the Kobold whose legs are almost running in place whilst holding to the wire. Its only the final intervention of Krik'ik that diverts its path slightly. Using the newly shown wires to whip the Minotaur's arm and grab it.

An electric surges proves to much to the rampaging beast and it succumbs to a heart attack.

> Wounded 5 Soldiers.

>>21658757

Considering the earlier incident in the nearby lab its with a very pensive mood that another group of men once again lead by Krik'ik steps into the other room. 6 Soldiers follow him, including Hezix, his hand bandaged and somewhat sore, but fully functional.

The difference from one room to the other could not be clearer, its lights busted sending it almost completely into darkness, only occasionally a single beacon of light appears from a functional light. The ground littered with debris, the walls twisting and collapsing onto themselves. As they reach the centre of the room it becomes more intact if still damaged and broken. It becomes clear this was a repair facility attached to the Maintenance Room, although what remains usable is not known to them.
>>
>>21658822

An almost frantic pace is taken as the Kobolds surge into the maintenance tunnels looking for resources and interesting items in the refuse and debris that litters it. Some interesting finds occur and some very much needed resources are gathered to feed the ever hungry Civilian Nano-Factory once again, after who knows how many cycles of recycling.

Nice.

How, combat usable would those suits be?
And how hard would it be to up-armor them for better durability? We may need to hold most of those in reserve until we have a better handle on their rarity.
>>
>>21659568

Explanation for Resources. Depending on the action an n amount of resources could be needed. And depending on the complexity of the action, more advanced types of resources could perhaps be needed.

So what are you guys going to do now?
>>
>>21659568
[2] Begin salvage operations in the newly explored rooms, with an eye toward what equipment could be made operational again.

[1] Begin trapping the local tunnels.

Picture is roughly what the suit looks like on a human with a Fusion Torch. These are sealed for very hostile environments and suited for a wide range of temperatures, whilst still being armoured to withstand heavy impacts from failing debris and other substances.

As the name says, these are the facilities Heavy Duty Maintenance Suits. Not uncommon in the more industrial or dangerous areas

Luckily for you guys since most of this sector was Kobold Staffed Maintenance, they are in the right size.

As for modifying them? Not a good idea, they are very well designed, any changes will likely be worse.

Ah, solidly made already, nice. Was concerned it wouldn't hold up.
>>
>>21659762

You likely know enough of the basic systems to freeze the SteroidTaur in one the Labs available Vats. As for having the know-how? No. Biology is a mystery to you guys. Beyond of course the basics (Not Knowing basics, just basics).

So, you guys could store it. Preventing Decay. Since that particular function is automated.
>>
>>21659803
Let's store that for later poking, maybe we can learn a thing out two if we can get the lab room running.

Just so you have a comparison. This armour looks very simple and archaic right?

This is Emperor Class PA. Covered in Micro-Dragonscale Links, each one being covered in Nano-Runes by a fully accredited Forge-Mage of the Nth Order. Beneath the Links is Deamonforged layer, giving complete protection against Thermal Energy. Followed a multitude of nano-scale layers each one giving immunity to almost every aspect of reality known. With extensive self-repair capabilities due to a bag of holding filled with resources and a Nanofactory.

Enhancing all aspects of he user, and enabling the constant activation of several spells depending on the user. But standard in all of them is Time-Stop, Blink, Major Heal and from the Muscle Wizard Order also Major Punch.

Powered by a self-contained miniature black-hole and star. How many of these where made? Exactly 5. For a A Spec Ops group serving the world itself.

As the Kobolds swarm into the lab, they quickly check each computer, the surprisingly intact systems offer a wealth of information. The facility it self is deemed functional and holds great promise to the health of the Kobolds, since they lacked any comprehensive health facility or knowledge.

>> Functional Medical Facility (Need Activation and Refitting slightly)

First they conduct minor but needed repairs, then they partially isolate each system as to guarantee nothing harmefull happens, then finally they activate the facility in its entirety.

One would almost swear that a rumble surges deep beneath their little feet, a throwing from the walls and computers. Until finally with a final burst of static from the main computer, in the room where the SteroidTaur appeared from a female voice is heard.

"This is Shodan. How may i assist you?"

Soon after they reactivated the medical facility, there was a need to expand their defences to cover the new acquisitions.

Whilst at first work went slowly due to a lack of resources, and various accidents that almost crushed several Kobolds whilst building a wall, only due to it occurring in the medical facility and with the able help of Shodan that nothing lasting happened.

Soon after with greater care and using some of the newly gathered resources, the defences happily expanded into the new rooms.
