Just digging a hole.
>>
You're both level 2, and have a pair of retainers with you (three, if Fig'Tard wants to ask Haley along), so the Caverns shouldn't be too much trouble. Might not be enough for the new adventure hook I'm putting out though.

As you go to the construction site for the Honey Pot, the foreman tells you a neanderthal's come from out of the forest. He's been waiting around for a while, asking about the "heros"
>>
lets get this party started

!>>21670130
>Might not be enough for the new adventure hook I'm putting out though.

I'm willing to wait to start the new adventure if you want more people.

"Take us to dar fur wearer foreman"
>>
>>21670143
The neanderthal looks up when you arrive. "You are heros? Kill giant bug monster? We need help for stop deadmans"
>>
>>21670130
I gave Haley the boot and someone deleted her charsheet, so she's gone.

>>21670143
Yes, let's meet Mr. Loincloth
>>
>>21670143
As with level 3 of Castle Gygar, I think you can get through it, but there's

>>21670161
No, she's not deleted. She's still there under Free Agents, available for anyone who wants to hire her either for single adventures or as a retainer

We need barrels :( I don't see barrels on the list
>>

Yeah, that's a strange oversight. Advanced has barrels at 1gp each
>>
>>21670402
>We need barrels :( I don't see barrels on the list

Soon my dog of war, but now we do it my way.
YOUJUSTYOUJUSTWAIT
we should wait till we have the building, i dunna think the tunnel can hold barrels yet?
>>
>>21670438
There's not a lot of room for storage in the tunnels
>>
>>21670445
Can we store in earthenware pots? Hopefully some dick elf won't come along and break them all looking for emeralds.
>>
>>21670463
You know that guy? I HATE that guy.
>>
>>21670445
Right then!

"Oie Common Fig! Lets git some honey!" I say as I head down into the tunnel
>>
>>21670463
You could, though in the woods the risk is more that a bear wearing a red tunic will find them and demand you give him some hunny
>>
>>21670561
I would be totally okay with that in exchange that he help run the honey pot by being a mascot.
>>
>>21670561
>>21670608
Then we can sell our honey in bear shaped containers!

ok, for srs, if we store the honey in barrels and stack/line them across one wall of the tunnel, how many barrels can we fit and how many barrels can we fill without destroying the hive?
>>
>>21670649
Quite a few barrels, but the tunnels would be very cramped afterwards. You might be able to harvest two or three barrels a week
>>
>>21670664
Cramped is fine until we get a building made. Let's start with two barrels this week, no sense risking overproduction on the third barrel. I'll cover the costs. I'm sure our own consumption will put a little dent into production as well.
>>
>>21670703
"Aye Letus get dah honey!" I smile and ready my 10 jar
>>
Okay. You've ordered your workers to gather two barrels of honey in the coming week, and gather some for your own jars
Where do you go after this?
>>

You make your way there without incident.
The southern exit to the west continues for 70 feet before turning north, while the northern exit continues further than you can see. The passage east zig-zags north and south, so you can't see down there very far

Coming to the end of that passage the path goes north for 10 feet before turning east, with a 10 foot alcove to the west. After 30 feet is a door south, and after that the passage continues 30 feet to a dead end, making a 70 foot long passage in total

>>
>>21671211
It's a d6 roll, but anyway, he doesn't hear anything behind the door
>>
>>21671226
"Roight then" I open the door slowly.
>>
>>21671245
and I peek!
>>
>>21671245
This room is about 70 feet long, with the door in the middle. It's filled with tools and construction supplies. There's 3 boxes, a dozen small barrels, coils of rope, chain, and copper wire, lots of mining picks (rusted and with the handles shrunk and falling out), around a dozen chisels and shovels, eight mallets, a stack of eight foot iron bars, some broken jacks, two lumber saws, four hacksaws, and a vise on a wooden bench.
>>
>>21671282
Chuck notices some mechanisms along the north wall. There seems to be several metal weights attatched to chains, some gears, and lever
>>
>>21671282
>lots of mining picks (rusted and with the handles shrunk and falling out
You had to do that xD

I'll have my crew collect all the useful stuff, and I'll grab the rope, chain and wire. Then take a look in the small barrels.
I'll have chuck investigate the mechanisms more.
>>
>>21671282
"Ey, look at 'is! Oi wonder 'ow much we'd save on construction if we 'auled all 'is to the 'oney Pot?"
>>
>3 boxes
Also, what's in the box, DM?
>>
>>21671340
Most of the barrels are empty, but one has 60 arrows in it

Chuck thinks the mechanism is a counterweight for something to drop from the ceiling. He figures out a way to pin some of the gears to stop them from moving
>>
>>21671346
"Dat's tah plan mate"
>>
>>21671364
One is full of rotting wooden pegs, and the others contain various tools including trowels, chisels, plumb lines, hammers, work knives, bodkin needles and so on
>>
>>21671371
"Roight, chuck pin tha gears then figure out where tah trigger is leadin tah"

I take the arrows and pass them to Vespin. then collect the barrels into my pack.
>>
>>21671402
He's not sure where the trigger is. It could be in another room.

>collect the barrels into my pack
They don't fit
>>
>>21671386
Alright, so we haul all this stoof out to our loaner cart from Samael. Maybe we ought to think about buying a few donkeys?

>>21671371
Were the gears in motion when we entered? Uh oh, maybe we shouldn't have pinned them?
Whats on the ceiling?
>>
>>21671418
No, they weren't moving at the time

You don't notice anything unusual about the ceiling of this room
>>
>>21671408
>>collect the barrels into my pack

MAKE THEM FIT
>>21671418
>Alright, so we haul all this stoof out to our loaner cart from Samael. Maybe we ought to think about buying a few donkeys?
Sounds good to me.

I'll take a close look at the mechanism.
>>
>>21671440
The lever is at its highest position. You think pushing it down would raise the counterweights, lowering whatever they're connected to (if the gears weren't pinned by Chuck, that is)
>>
>>21671440

Stone CUNNING that stone wall
>>
Alright, Leod's joining the group alone this go then.

Also, wasn't the last dead end a pit trap? Watch out and look for traps.
>>
>>21672630
Didn't you poke the wall or do something silly to fall in?
>>
>>21672639
Can't remember. Still, careful, mate.
>>
Bannination? Wut?

Yep, that's a wall alright. You're not getting through that way

1-2 is success on these rolls.

We've totally just spent a few rounds staring at a wall again.
>>
The third room along is similarly a bedroom, but there's no door or any monsters in there.
The path heading west, at the south end of this passageway, continues for 50 feet before coming to a set of stairs leading downwards
>>
>>21672674
It's a good stone wall. Solidly made. Probably dwarf construction
>>
>>21672704
Dwarves always claim well-made things are likely the work of their race.

I have chuck move silently and check down the stairs watching for traps and plates.
>>

Downstairs there's a path going south for 10 feet, then turning west. That path continues for 70 feet and then turns north.

Your dwarven stonecunning detects the floor beneath you sloping upwards

>Your dwarven stonecunning detects the floor beneath you sloping upwards
YAY we got some use out of it instead of "yep its a wall"

Well failing that chuck discovers any traps we should press on eh?

"Keep movin eh mates?"

Just to your north is a path going east, and after 40 feet is a door in the north wall. 10 feet after that door, the path turns north.
30 feet north of you is another turn east

for a magician that wants to burn the world, no. you haven't listed a classy top hat.

Everyone knows wizards don't get their hat until Name level.
>>
>>21673176
Not yet. Still need to read rules.
Also, I didn't forget anything important, did I? For instance, do I need to specify Spellbook? And where do I pick up a 1st level spell from?

>>21673181
How many gp for a classy top hat?

Protection from Evil and Sleep, both fairly useful spells
>>
>>21673301
Can I still cast Prot Evil if my dude is Evil?
What happens in that case?
>>
>>21673309
I believe the oldschool ruling was "anything trying to hit you is evil, regardless of your alignment"
>>
>>21673309
In Basic D&D, there's just Chaotic/Lawful. Evil in this case is defined as anything harming you, so the spell grants a +1 to AC and saving throws, and summoned creatures are unable to touch you altogether
>>
Anyway, the door has a great big R carved into it. Presumably this was one of Rogahn's rooms.
>>
>>21673387
Chuck checks the door for traps
>>
>>21673433
He finds nothing unusual about the door
>>
>>21673446

"Git ready mates"
>>
>>21673478
Leod grins tightly under his helmet, preparing his enchanted dagger and shield.
>>
>>21673478
The 60' by 20' room is full of exercise equipment. On the east and west walls are archery targets. In one corner of the room are metal bars, discs of stone with holes in the middle, and lead weights with handles. In another corner is a bar suspended from the ceiling. On the walls are racks holding what look like metal clubs. There's a thick woven mat making a 20 foot square in the middle of the room.

I'm a bit worn out, so we should probably end soonish

Pop me, I'm goin' in.

Name: Otab Otab
Magic User
Appearance: Grey @ or other setting-equivalent of "Basic unit of explore dungeon, get loot, fight mobs, earn xp"
Desire: Explore dungeons, get loot, fight mobs, earn xp.

Also comes with 2 Guard dogs, Trapfinder II and Trapfinder III. Dogs are assumed to be protecting Otab from incoming damage by intercepting and fighting anything that tries to get close to me, unless specified otherwise.

Now, where did I spawn?

In town:
Well, first things first. I and my dogs try to search for a Hobo den or something that will provide shelter from elements. Some place to set up stash.

Currently my character doesn't know IC where the others are.
What hour is it, in-town?
>>
>>21673624
around 11 or noon
>>
>>21673624
Better name up.

Otab and his dogs find a safe spot to store the Bedroll, and spare oil/food/torches.

What hour is it at town?

Are there any arrows, bows, etc. for use with the archery targets? Tell me more about these clubs on the walls, please.
If possible, I'd like to roll up the mat and see if anything is under it
>>
>>21673628
Right. Notify me when Stash found. Current plan, unless interrupted by other PCs, is:

Stash gear
Rest if needed to get Sleep stored
Find inn, bar, or other source of "send adventurous hobos at things"
Acquire tales of dungeons at my char level, or adventuring parties
Head out towards parties and/or dungeons.
>>
>>21673646
There are a few arrows scattered around. The clubs are made of lead, with leather wrappings around where you're meant to hold them. They're fairly conical in shape.

Nothing much under the wrasslin' mat

The value of the goods you've collected gets the pcs 20XP and their retainers 10XP.
However, by using them for the Honey Pot project, you've effectively added 200gp to the work done

>>21673765
