After 24 hours, Zerg Quest makes a belated return! Hooray! I'm not sweaty and confused!

So it came to pass that the Cerebrate turned on its Father's creators, and burned away the very sky where they fought. Enraged by the Cerebrate's insolence and the murder of their kin, some of the Xel'Naga struck at the Cerebrate's home, invading its very mind.

We are in pain, isolated from our broods. From what we've felt, it seems like one of our cerebrates has managed to boost our psionic power with their own. We aren't sure how, but we hope that it's Labbrate.

Either way, this battle is hitting quite close to home, and we have no way of finding out just how hard it's hitting.

THE PAIN! It crashes into us. We don't know how--it's clear from our psionic perception that some of the Xel'Naga just died. We can't figure out what killed them, but we aren't complaining.

Still, the pain pierces further into our mind than it has for this entire struggle.

>>
>>21679758
Of course. I think we should remind him that the Protoss Empire is poised to collapse due to it's fleet being destroyed in a battle with the Xel'Naga. And if we die, then the swarm will go berserk, and undoubtedly destroy what's left of the Protoss. The Morians should survive due to their orbital platforms, which we also helped expand. So, kill a friend of the Protoss in the middle of a battle with the Xel'Naga, thus most likely ending two species. Or, acknowledge that your an idiot, Zeratul. Khas will not be pleased with you.
>>
>>21679856

All but the last of the Dark Templar."

"Our collective rage is concentrated and purified in me. It demands your blood, and it will not be denied."

Rolling waves of pain crash over us. We feel them cracking our resolve, tearing at our identity.

Our eye witnesses an explosion in high orbit. The nuclear blast cracks a worldship down the middle. Toaster appears to be fighting for us. We finally make out heighliners up there, as well, sporadically firing their Psi Cannons at us to ease the burden on us.

Through the debris, sometimes-active defenses, and the screaming pain, we spot a Protoss ship of unknown configuration barreling through the atmosphere, directly at us. It has broken through the line; nothing stands between it and us.

We are inspired by our sister and our Broods, fighting together for our survival. We press back, driving the Xel'Naga half of the way out of our mind.

Outside, our eye burns as the Xel'Naga ships turn toward Xenta, and a blinding light pierces out from it. The light burns across the surface of the planet, sweeping up Hive Clusters across the planet. Even in our quiescent state, we can feel the planet shudder as its crust is stripped away. We hope none of our cerebrates are in the paths of these beams. Kerrigan keeps us informed of what's going on, her voice betraying fear as she informs us that even if they are stopped immediately, more than half the surface of Xenta will be heated into plasma. In less than a day, it will not be a safe place for us to house ourselves and our Brood.

Thankfully, Warbrate seems to have been inspired by Kerrigan's arrival, as well. Its forces rally, and manage (with many casualties) to destroy one of the remaining worldships. Its flaming wreckage adds to the dark clouds forming over our beleaguered home. Moments later, the other craft is engulfed in a brilliant nuclear explosion, compliments of Toaster.

Our mind aches terribly, but the oppressive torment is gone. The Xel'Naga are extinct once more! We have done it!

As our Eye turns from the skies, we witness the battle unfolding just before us.

Raynor, his body covered in a menacing carapace and his eyes glowing green with the light of the Swarm, is locked in combat with the last of the Dark Templar, Zeratul. Raynor's red-and-gold blood leaks down his face, a gift from the Protoss, as his every attack is countered flawlessly by the First Born, who is simultaneously dodging the blocky strikes of our Kingstontron butler.

If our life and the life of an irreplaceable friend were not at stake, we would admire the unbelievable skills of this warrior.

Buy Jimmy has his personality back, and PTSD. And we know he does things with Kerri that we don't want to know about, but we pulled him aside and game his a very uncomfortable talk about responsibility, with sever treats of violence against him if he broke Kerri's heart.
>>
>>21681129
Interpreting psychic attacks as a telekinetic push is just childish.

Dig into his memories, destroy the memory of the moment he separated from the khala and led his people away. Then plant the suggestion that he just lost something very important. He'll check, realize that he DID lose something important, and while he's freaking over that we take out the bit that makes his lungs work.

Our first attempt to psi-five him does nothing. We wonder if he is shielding his mind, and are immediately told yes:

"You cannot distract me with your tricks, Cerebrate. I have shielded my mind from you, after watching your fortuitous distraction of Kerrigan during our last battle."

It seems that a simple attack won't do. We will have to concentrate our psionic energies more intensely to influence this fight.

It's mostly because the Cerebrates aren't made to use psionic attacks. Their entire psionic potential is driven toward coordinating billions of living bodies across hundreds of worlds. Unfortunately, the Protoss springs back to its feet and back into its fight with Raynor. Raynor attempts to strike at his head, and leaves himself completely open. Zeratul takes the opportunity and performs a sweeping slash, taking off Raynor's right arm and leg.

Raynor falls to the ground, incapacitated.

Throw in a dive bombing scourge or two.
>>
>>21681741
Yes, if we can also include having the Kingstontron getting Raynor to safety.
>>
>>21681741

While summoning reinforcements of all kind while he evades shit dropping from the sky.

Sure, why not.

As we shout from an oddly articulate drone, the Kingstontron leaps around Zeratul, swings the infested man over its shoulder, and jogs quickly away, toward Accountantbrate's compound, or what's left of it. Accountantbrate is sort of tantruming right now, after the loss of massive stores of minerals and gas across the surface of Xenta.

Zeratul watches this with some measure of amusement. This distraction is good for us. The overlord is unexpected and unnoticed as it flops out of the sky directly on top of the confused Protoss.

A moment later, he explodes upward, spewing the overlord's body across the Creep. As he lands, we strike him again with our thoughts, knocking him off his feet and simply spoiling the badass look of the whole scene.

He's clearly still battle-ready, but sometimes it's the little things that matter, you know?

Totally worth it.

And hes now covered in Overlord gunk so he can't cloak.

Zeratul stands just feet away from our form, his eyes aglow with the rage of a dead tribe. His blade shimmers with fatal intensity, its energies holding the potential to destroy us forever.

WILL THE CEREBRATE DEFEAT THIS FOE, OR WILL THE SWARM BE FINALLY DESTROYED, ONCE AND FOR ALL? WILL RAYNOR RECOVER FROM HIS WOUNDS, OR WILL THE DARK TEMPLAR'S BLADE PERMANENTLY CRIPPLE KERRIGAN'S GROOM? WILL CEREBRATE ANON -EVER- LET GO OF THE SHIFT KEY?!

Find out next week on Zerg Quest!

It's 2 in the morning. I've got to get some sleep.

Honestly, though, congrats on not being dead. There was a minute there where it looked like the Xel'Naga would actually kill you before Zeratul could even start hacking and whacking and smacking. You came from behind.

Yeah. Right before the holiday, too. It's going to wriggle in the back of your mind the whole time. Your Uncle Steve will be telling you about his fantasy football team, and you'll be a million miles away, trying to think of what options the Swarm has to fight off this horrible death.

It'll destroy your family outing.

It'll ruin the holiday.

It'll eat you away inside.

...

Dude, maybe I -am- evil.
