As Ned Salter, we are the new kid in the XWF management. Our fighters are about to fight out for the Gold Division title belt of the Extreme Warfare Federation, and we are otherwise busy getting ready to launch a videogame, as well as seeing about promoting their incoming fight.
>>
Hey. Sorry I missed most of the meta-chat last night, was busy elsewhere.
>>
>>21698429
eh, is okay. In the meanwhile, I got this idea for the sunday fantasy quest thread I´m thinking of starting (as mentioned, for sundays only). Was thinking in going down a goofy path with lots of meta awareness on the part of the characters, but without quite breaking the 4th wall.

Anyway, we left after having the chat with the group at the ranch, and were already busily promoting the fight and seeing about the game and merchandise.

Do you want to have the private fight or just assume it happened? I thought it would be funnier if, since there´s no rules, referee or whatever, they just fought eachother down into unconsciousness and then for years to come they can argue about who won.
>>
>>21698466
Sure, why not?
>>
>>21698466

The way I see it, Python can do 21 punches a round, 1 unsoakable damage each time. Not even Brass can survive that. His only hope is to slap on the Final Rest chokehold before that can happen.

The match would be over, one way or the other, within 2 turns
>>
Anyway

Aritsu: "Alright sir, the plastic hands and the brass-colored shirts are going to arrive on time. Do you want to arrange anything special for the holos of the fight, like having our guys sign a hundred or so for the first buyers?"

The morning is as sunny as a California morning could be, which is to say you are immensely grateful to the guy who invented air conditioners.
Your desk is covered with documents. The contracts for the merchandise (the shirts and arms), the network contracts and stipulations on replays, various show interview offers for both before and after the fight, a number of requests from De Vries to have Ami (and maybe Brass) represent them in charity balls and auctions, another bodyguard request (more like a escort request) from the president of SONY japan, and the normal (which is to say lots) requests from sports companies that want Python to endorse their sneakers, shirts, shorts, socks, gloves, or sport drinks. In fact, Gatorade would like to develop and market a flavor around each key figure of the XWF, so since one of your guys will be the next Gold Division champion, they want the winner to sign up on this.

Aritsu: "Boss, are you alright? I tried to keeps things as orderly as possible for you"
>>
>>21698658
You know, there´s a enhancement for mega strength that rises any un-soakable damage you have by +1. From zero to +1 to from 1 to 2, etc. May be worth buying another dot of mega strength and then the enhancement, so Python´s quantity has some extra quality to it

brb gonna grab some breakfast real fast
>>
>>21698722
Hey, maybe Brass should buy Regeneration in the future, that way in addition to healing in combat, he can regenerate/workout between rounds to heal super fast!

(I'm kinda pissed that Brass's hard body is never going to be useful seeing as how aggrived damage is banned.)
>>
>>21698739
Well, just because it´s unsportsmanlike it doesnt means there wont be someone trying to cheat with it. Also remember I want to eventually drop an alien invasion (sometime in the far future) to replace the Aberrant war with. Yeah I think the aberrant war is too x-men.

Back with some candies the likes of which your english language is sadly unable to name. Let´s just call them sugar bombs, because thats sort of what they are

Well, want to see about those possible job/merchandise offers, give a call to De Vries, or what?
>>
>>21698668

"Doing fine, Aritsu, thanks to you. You've done a masterful job, here. Did you hire those interns to help you, yet? If not, please do."

Ned negotiated the Merch deals himself, we know what's there, so we can sign off on those.

Gatorade sounds interesting, and we should sign off on some interviews. PR blitz; Set aside a few hours for the various networks to come and record segments. If each Journo got a 10-minute slot, we can get a dozen interviews into a two-hour span, if we have them come to the Ranch (or do a Video-Link interview)

Nothing for DeVries yet, until the Santos situation is resolved.
>>
>>21698466
This, I like this.
>>21698787
Arrange the Santos thing. Its kinda rude to leave him in a coma after all. And yes to pretty much all of the merchandising things.
>>
>>21698860
That all sounds good except inviting people to the ranch. Mai doesnt likes unknown people filming her house

Alright, roll 14d10 for the Gatorade deal, or 13d10 if you want to use your mega dice as auto success.

Oh, and do roll 13d10 to hire someone from De Vries. If you roll 5+ successes, we´ll make it free, cashing in some good will from Ami´s peruan (or was it bolivian) job
>>
Rolled 6, 4, 1, 4, 8, 6, 1, 7, 4, 4, 3, 9, 1 = 58

>>21698937
Rolling for De Vries
>>
Rolled 7, 3, 3, 4, 2, 1, 3, 6, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 1 = 47

>>21698937

Rolling Gatorade
>>
>>21698937

Does the DeVries roll get extra dice from Persuader?
>>
>>21698990
Well, at least you get persuader
>>21699020
With one success, technically you do "succeed", but we can all agree it was kind of sad, right? anyway, I guess it may be a limited edition thing, maybe just a couple dozen thousand bottles just while the hype about the fight lasts, instead of a regular, permanent addition to their flavors line-up

Aritsu: -the attractive blonde brings you a coffee and sits on the chair across your desk- "Management called. They want you to handle eight new fighters this new semester, boss. Four jobbers and four silver fighters."
>>

>>21699035
Sure, seems perfectly reasonable in this case
>>
>>21699050

"Eight guys? Geez, no rest for the hypercompetent... Do we have their files to hand? Better take a look"
>>
>>21699020

Worst roll ever.

>>21699050

We were one number away from inventing New Coke.
>>
>>21699050
Are these guys that we recruited through our utopia shenanagins or are they just fighter we are being handed?
>>
>>21699099
The new coke comment made me smirk a little
I think 5 successes should be enough for that, someday

Aritsu: "Yes sir. Do you want them on paper or just the files? Sometimes it helps to hold the document in your hands, or so I feel"

>>21699125
They are being handed to you. Remember Brass was technically just to check if you had what it took. That does reminds me you did got two guys from utopia so I need to make two more sheets for them. I dont have anything in mind at the moment. Any power sets you want these new kids to have?
>>
>>21699145

How about a half-dragon? One of the original ideas for Python was to embrace the Reptile aspect, and go draconic...

>Claws
>Wings (flight)
>Scaly Hide (armour)
>Breath Weapon (Energy Blast)
>>
>>21699145
Los Tibarn? The other Idea I had was for the fighter Archangel. Flies, has an angelic form, and smites his enemies with holy power (quantum blast) and his holy sword (quantum weapon).
>>
>>21699197
But we already meet with the guys from utopia and they looked perfectly normal, remember? unless you want one of the silver division guys to be trogdor for you. Which would be fine.

Or you want to go with shapeshifting?
Anyway, Ill write that down. One dragon guy

For a bit, I thought 4chan was down. Took a while for a reply
>>
>>21699215
That would be fine for one of the utopia guys, i think
>>
>>21699223
Your secretary hands you the files of the new kids you will taking care of. Their contract officially starts at the start of the new semester (february), but they are already free to use the installations if you want to go talk to them. Some may be using the gym.

Aritsu: "We have their contact information, of course. Do you want to meet with them right away, or maybe after the tournament is over? that way you can give them your full attention."
>>
Okay, so what did De Vries say about our job offer?
>>
>>21699215
It's "Los Tiburon."

>>21699265
We need to find some way we can train these newcomers without bringing them to the Ranch. Let it be clear that the Ranch is for our elite stable.

I also think we should decline the jobbers. Ned needs to position himself by the way, positioning is not the same as marketing, and equating the two is making the part of me that has studied marketing cry inside as one of the leading managers for rookies and up-and-comers in the XWF, as well as a competent (if a bit by-the-books) manager of the Old School stable.

So, I propose that we establish a new stable, which functions as a testing ground, as a way for people with potential to be given a way into the Old School stable, which is exclusively for the elite fighters in our possession.

Managers rarely do this, but if we unify them a common theme, all of them being faces, for example, we could establish a collective/conclave of wrestlers instead of a couple of teams who have nothing to do with Ned.
Making Ned a part of the game is going to make him harder to fire, as well as give him a greater ability to directly manipulate the game without it being obvious to outsiders or indeed many managers.

Right now, we've positioned ourselves as a manager of one of the most competent stables around. Letting our trustworthiness (an essential part of positioning) be compromised through non-harmonic ventures (such as non-face, incompetent wrestlers) will give us a worse result.
>>
>>21699268
Aritsu: "They said it would not be a problem. They are sending someone over on wednesday. I actually already booked them a nice hotel room for up to a week. This can not take more than that, right?"

She looks the hotel´s info on her datapad and shares it with you.

Aritsu: "They are sending someone called... how colorful. "Mindlash". It is good to know that comic book writers are not out of a job after all, even now that noone reads super hero comics anymore." -takes a sip of coffee
>>
>>21699145
Just saying, but it would be hilarious if there was one newcomer based off each of the regulars in the thread. That said, it's a terrible idea in practice.
>>
>>21699311
Well, remember all the XWF staff can use the rather large gym facilities we have available in the building/studio complex.
>>
>>21699323
Well, yes, but we need to give them an edge. Something that pushes them beyond the mean. Probably something that gives them the ability to harness their Quantum more efficiently.

Look at Python. Guy's been a champ, but had no idea of the Quantum potential he had. We need to utilize this.

The Biolabs will be too expensive, the Ranch would be too much of a hassle.
>>
>>21699335
Well, the pretty, genius-level chief doctor at the XWF is a bit of a mad genius. She just doesnt has the "ok" to go experimental on the fighters (most of the time) but that´s why she´s on the job at all, really. And she did design the heal tanks and helped with cleaning Brass off his addiction
>>
>>21699335
Why don't we have them train at Golden Touch? An old-style gym like that fits very will with the Old School theme.

Also Ned can finally have an excuse to use his '80's training soundtrack' mix tape.
>>
>>21699354
Perfect.

>>21699359
Because Golden Touch is probably just gimmicky. They're Old School, but Golden Touch sounded like something made just to capitalize on the old school retro-wave.

Modern machinery is way better than the old ways, and weights can't be improved much.. Only reason to use the Ranch is because of Mai's training, not because of any facilities she has.

The gym at XWF is more than good enough to handle whatever Golden Touch could possibly do.

Besides, Old School is just Ami, Brass and Python. I think putting new people in there, without them having proven themselves first, is a terrible idea. Which is why I think a new name for a separate stable that acts to see if they're worthy of joining Old School is a good idea.
>>
>>21699359
that sounds good, hold on let me look for proper music...

http://youtu.be/QEjgPh4SEmU

Well, for techniques, if you arent going to take them to Mai, the Golden Glove is a decent second choice. It won´t be as fast or as good, tho, but is good if we are keeping Mai for our "inner circle".

Regular exercise can happen at the XWF gym, and the doctor can help with their quantum development

>>21699367
We've never been there, for all we know they'd be really good.

If the XWF gym was so much better, then Nova's wouldn't go there at all, and it wouldn't've even been a consideration for Ned.

Maybe Ned and the others should actually check the place out before declaring it's bad.
>>
>>21699371
Sounds okay to me. We should go meet our new fighters though.
List of Fighters for next season:
Brass (Omega)
Python (Gold, Champion, probably tag Champion)
Ami (Gold, Debut, Powerhouse)
Paladin? (Gold)
Archangel
1 more Utopia Fighter
4 silver fighters
4 jobbers
>>
>>21699383
Not every Nova is in the XWF and has access to the facilities.

I suppose what >>21699371
says about techniques and maneuvers might be correct, though.
>>
>>21699311

>New Stable

Anyone else getting a 'Nexus' (see recent WWE TV) kind of vibe here, for our new guys?

BC - Explain 'positioning' vs 'promoting' vs 'marketing', please?
>>
>>21699405
Positioning is making sure people remembers your brand when the need arises. Thirsty? thought of coke or pepsi first? thats good positioning

Your tires blew up. Thought of michelin first option to replace them? thats positioning

Merchandising is the art of selling usually useless shit to people who think they could not live without it. See: Selling pokemon products to 8-12 years old kids. I think MTG cards may fit in there somehow
>>
>>21699394

See, I'd like to bring Paladin into the Old School, but him being managed by somebody else makes it tricky... Unless we strike a deal with his manager, Daniel, somehow. He could be a pretty awesome DLC character for the game.

Also, wasn't Paladin going to go up to Omega with Brass?
>>
>>21699405
Promotion is a part of the four Ps, which are a subset of marketing. The four Ps are parameters which we can adjust to alter our marketing. They are:

Price
Promotion
Place (distribution)
Product

Promotion is public relations, advertising, viral marketing, direct marketing, events, that sort of thing.

Positioning is a part of marketing in that it is the "image" and branding of a company or product. A useful tool in positioning is the positioning map, which generally has too axes: price and quality (though it could be other things instead)
You then place products in relation to how the public PERCEIVES the parameters. Price and quality, usually. So McDonalds would be low price, low quality. Apple would be high price, high quality (again, it's what the consumers think, not what's true that is important for positioning).

Positioning is therefore more simply what people think of the product.

It is not to be confused with market positions, which are how a product or company measures up in comparison to other companies or products in terms of the market's revenue, sales etc.
It's basically whether they're a market leader, Me-Tooist, market follower, market challenger or a niche.

Old School is definitely a niche. Niches can be big, after all.

My actual major is nanoscience with focus on molecular biology, physics and chemistry, but it never hurts to have some business-oriented studies along with that.
>>
>>21699430
Paladin manages himself, no? Extremely intelligent, could be the world's richest man without a sweat if he wanted?

And yes, he is moving to Omega IIRC
>>
>>21699422
>MtG cards may fit in there somehow

You shut your filthy mouth.
;_;
>>
I recommend we meet the new guys before we decide what to do with them.
>>
>>21699446
He "has" a manager. The same way Ned has a secretary, tho. You cant be your own boss in the XWF. He also manages his own merchandising. There´s aftershaves, men´s colognes, (light) beer and jeeps included there. Also does charity show ups, usually at children´s hospitals and such

>>21699451
hey, I was an avid chump--- i mean i was an avid collector and player for years and years. Recently finally got my 4th phyrexian dreadnought and all. Pretty happy about it.

Well, regardless, you want to try and call your new people over at some point this week or wait until after the championship fight happens?
>>
>>21699441
When I checked the Business specialties all I saw availible were Comptroller, Down Market, Merchandising, Positioning, Stocks & Bonds

I saw Positioning as the only one that had any real effect on marketing, I just assumed it was easier for TKOAND to use it as a general 'marketing' specialty rather than have us try to word everything as Positioning-related in order to get that +1 die.

Accuracy vs expediency, you know?
>>
>>21699499
I think it´s fine.
1) its a ww game. They are KNOWN for being stingy on actual mechanics
2) I prefer to go with what makes sense. And I think using positioning for most things is fine

Well, Aritsu asked you if you wanted to go meet the new guys now or after the fight is done with. I was also thinking Python could maybe sneak out and try to beat the crap out of BL by himself. He made his best friend into a drug addict. Brass may be content to beat the crap out of him on the ring, but Python wants his own sattisfaction
>>
>>21699466

Inclined to save it until after the Title match. Ned's focus should be on building the Hype Machine.

Private Real Fight first, though, isn't it?
>>
>>21699528
I thought we had agreed in just assuming they end in a tie but will keep poking each other about who won for years to come?
>>
>>21699571
Seems good to me. I'm on my phone so will be posting slower/less.
>>
>>21699571
That's what I thought
>>
>>21699571
alright. Now, if I remember right, someone said he was writefagging the tittle fight? want to post it?

And could you guys get openrpg in your home computers? maybe we could organize a group to play at some point
>>
>>21699634

That was going to be me, but I through we'd be doing that tomorrow, with Real Fight today. Got invited to a Geek Pubmeet last night, y'see; No time to write.

I could come up with something now, but I don't have anything ready to post.
>>
>>21699701
Oh, it´s alright. We can still do the thing about waking up Santo, and actually should do it first, come think about it. Let me type it up
>>
On Wednesday morning, Mindlash arrives at the airport and gives Aritsu a call confirming so. He will go to the hotel and meet with you on the evening. She informs you about it, and asks you if you want to have a vehicle pick him up yourself or have a company car sent.
>>
>>21699701
I have a few ideas. I figure we should end the fight with something suitably epic. Python uses his speed and technique to "stun" him and charge up the Pythons bite. Just before he hits, Brass "snaps out of it" and turns himself to brass. Brass is still knocked down, and it looks over for our dear hero, then the lightning starts raining down on the stage. Brass then gets up and uses his Mega Strength 8 to do something Absurd that "beats" python.
>>21699634
Sure I could get Open RPG. Also, I thought we were doing the Santos thing first? Since the Guy is arriving on Wednesday?
>>
>>21699732

There's also the question of how far we RP out the promotional stuff. I'm in favour of 'not much at all'; Our guys have enough Mega Wits to turn on the charm, and Ned has already rolled high for hype-building.
>>
>>21699732
>>21699744
Lets pick him up ourselves.
>>
You and Brass drive to the hotel and pick up Mindlash, who turns out to be a polite middle aged man in great physical condition, if slightly bald.

He is dressed in a good suit, and greets you with a firm handshake as he introduces himself. He asks you a few questions about the job, having been mostly explained things at De Vries.

As you arrive at the XWF medical building, the secretary calls the doctor to meet with you, and she invites you upstairs. You find the attractive doctor waiting for you as you step out of the elevator.

Dr Watanabe greets you and "Mindlash" politely, then asks you to follow her to the room where Nova Santo os resting.

Dr Watanabe: "He seems perfectly healthy. He was barely injured at all when the fight was over, but we havent been able to wake him up"
>>
>>21699803
Mindlash: "What do you mean perfectly healthy. He got smacked with a reinforced concrete platform a dozen times!"

Dr Watanabe: "He is quite tough"

Mindlash: "...Alright"

Dr Watanabe: "Well, you said you wanted to try linking mister Santo and mister Wolfside through mister.. Mindlash, correct? I would very much like to measure this procedure, if possible"

She starts bringing out some equipment...

Dr Watanabe: "You can lie down in this beds here and here while I connect these little things here..."

The dark-haired beauty connects some soft suckers on Brass´ forehead and turns on her equipment as she starts measuring his electrical activity, then does the same for Mindlash.

Dr Watanabe: "Do you need any help with it? should mister Wolfside be sleeping?"

Mindlash: "That is not neccesary."

Alright, someone roll 6d10 for Brass Willpower, please

>>
>>21699918
wow someone who actually uses entropic warding

Commentator: "The arena is almost boiling with intensity as el Nova Santo punches through the concrete level and reaches forth to grab Bomber Lord! this is amazing, el Nova Santo is pummeling bomber Lord against a pillar, we can feel the power of those punches!"

Suddenly we can see el Nova Santo giving a speech as he accepts the Omega Belt. His family is there to cheer him, and you can feel the arena about to fall down as the fans call out of their hero!

Now *that's* more like it.

Last online game I played used Roll20.net
>>
Brass stands from his place in the audience and moves towards the "champ", each step a effort of will as he goes against what Nova Santo expected to see happen in his victory celebration. When their eyes meet, however, things go much easier as watching a steemed colleague and former champ coming to congratulate him fits in easily with his dream.

He doesn´t has time for it, however, as the dream skips again, and now Nova Santo pictures himself on his victory celebration. It is actually a open beach event in Acapulco. The place is so crowded police is there to keep order as the champion greets his fans in person and signs stuff for them with a friendly attitude. Brass walks up to him and just grabs him by the shoulders, shaking him up

Santo: "Ah, Rob, what are you doing man? did you had a hot dog already?"
Brass: "Hombre, wake up! does this make sense to you?! we were just at the arena!"
Santo: "What..?"
Brass: "How did we got here, Santo!?"

One success either way (plus the automatic 6 of course)

You manage to wake up Santo. The man looks confused, but the doctor hurries to taking his pressure and checking his retinal response.

Dr Watanabe: "Mister Huerta, how are you feeling? do you know where you are?"

Brass: "Did it work?" -sitting up

Santo: "This.. -looks around- this is the medical building, isint it? i´ve been here before. How did we got here from Acapulco?"

Dr Watanabe: "You have been here since your fight with Bomber Lord, mister Huerta. You were in a deep trance"

You successfully help the Nova Santo out of his trance.
>>
>>21700087
Yay!
>>
>>21700182
You explain to Santo (and dr Watanabe) your suspicions about Bomber Lord. Santos is inclined to believe you, while the doctor doesnt seems affected by the idea.

Santo: "Well, mental powers are not banned, but they certainly sound unfair. Does saying that while not having any makes me sound like I am whinning? after all, it is inside the federation´s rules"
>>
>>21700199
Ned: "Personally, I just think the deliberately not removing any mental powers you used on an opponent after a match makes you an asshole."
>>
>>21700199
Brass: "Ned is right. Even the best hold in the world ends when the match end."

You talk with Nova Santo for a good while, and finally the doctor says she would like to keep him in the building for another day before letting him go. She will call his family to let them know he´s already awake, of course.

Mindlash: "Well, that wasnt such a hard job. Call my people at De Vries if you need something else."

How does this work for Brass´ theme song? just going with his "tank" idea

>>21700275

>>21700424
made me laugh a little bit. It fits great and its not bad, but i dont think its something that could be broadcasted at full volume right before a fight

Santo: "Well, you helped me out of a tough one, not two ways about it. Thanks mr Salter. Thanks Rob"

Brass: "No problem, Ca- I mean, Santo"

He shakes your hands, and you leave him with the doctor.

Let´s stop here for today. Like before, I will keep the thread tab open and check for your posts, tho.

What time do you have, so we can try to agree on a day/time to play over open? and what would you like to play. Aberrant? DnD? Deathwatch? Rogue Trader?

ah, nm, i found how to turn off the "conver to local time" thing on the expansion. So its 12:17 4chan time right now, right?

Well, I could friday but i am already running something else on saturday (aberrant, actually) so I guess it´s no go =/

Well, I´m gonna get to work on the stuff for the incoming princess rescue quest thread, now. You guys think you will be able to participate if I run it on sunday morning?

1400 4CT = 7pm GMT

Which could be doable on Friday, for a bit of Rogue Trader...
