"The manager must backstab, cheat, lie, promise, defraud, suffer, run, stay up, go to work early, leave work late, check the drinks, secure the food, bed over backwards... but it is all worth it for those moments, those moments when you look at your star up in the tables, and you know you made that, you made... magic!"

As Ned Salter, a young manager in the XWF, the Extreme Warfare Federation, we saw a old, washed out former star shake off his drug vices and his weariness to come back once more as the new champion of the Gold Division ring in pay-per-view from the earth to phobos, before millions of fans through the OPnet.

Now, it is time to celebrate, but not too much, for a new semester is starting, and a new season of the show must begin!
>>
I hope we had one Hell of a victory party for Brass last night...

Now, do we do the Tag Tourney, or push on with next season?

Also, pursuant to a promise made to Aritsu at the end of Friday's thread, we try and OK it for her to swap the Bimbo Suit for something more sensible
>>
>>21758954
Uhmm... I think we should do at least one tag fight. It would just be somewhat odd to assume the tournament ended one way or another without at least having one fight. Will also help us get a feel of how Ami "works" in the ring.

You´ll have to ok that with upper management, and I honestly see it hard to do, but not impossible.

Be back in a few minutes, gonna grab breakfast
>>
Alright, back.

What do you want to do first? meet with the new guys you will be handling, talk to upper management about the uniforms, eat a burger at the cafeteria (remember you new novas stomach goes through food like your lungs go through air. I wonder if there´s a point where you stop going to the bathroom because your body misses on nothing of what you eat. Maybe mega stamina 4?), see about new advertising, check the game (which should be almost ready for release now), or something else?
>>
>>21759202
The new guys
>>
>>21759202
>>21759246
Grab a couple of burgers, and eat on the way to the new guys, then make a quip how we're so busy he is.

It'll show them we're not some tightwad or something.
>>
>>21759246
>>21759202

Put in a call to Upper Management about the situation. With Ned's dice pool (Mega-Manipulation + Persuader + everything else) we can convince HR to authorise it as a trial, at least.

We could do that on our way to meet our guys.
>>
>>21759278
>how we're so busy he is
"how busy he is"
This is what happens when you rewrite something and miss deleting all your old crap.

Also, forgot my name.
>>
>>21759296
Eh, i understood it anyway

You stop by the cafeteria. A place used to serving 50+ novas at any given time gives a new meaning to the term "fast food". Your burger is ready before you are done asking for it and drawing your wallet. A marvel of modern consumerism, six floor burger with three kinds of meat and five kinds of cheese, with tomatoe slices so thick and juicy it is a good thing the bread is extra thick and extra fluffy.

As you enjoy your two-handed burger, you make a call to upper management and are told that the uniforms for below management-level employees (secretaries, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, door man, elevator operator, etc) in the building are decided at upper management meetings. If you make this new season as successful as the one you just ended, you are (you are told this "in secret" of course) a very likely candidate for a seat at that table.

Checking the information Aritsu loaded into your data pad, you see that three of the new guys are currently in the XWF building, and the rest are all over town.
>>
Should probably mention that Ned now has a limo on call for when he's off to meet clients or do deals. Important to make the right impression...
>>
>>21759381

We have contact details, I say we meet the three guys who are here. Meeting in the gym sets the tone.

Ideally, once we've met them all, we should invite Mai for a consultation; She could use her professional skills to figure out who's got the most potential (i.e who's worth pushing)
>>
>>21759381
As you walk over to the gym, you check the personal data on your new fighters.

Mana Mollyneux is a light manipulator. Her powers don´t deal physical damage (at the moment) but she can dazzle and confuse her opponents. The XWF medical staff has given her a three out of five, power-wise. She is a blonde beauty with a dancer´s figure and a triathlete´s stamina. She is currently in the XWF gym

Carlos Geros is a geo manipulator, which fortunately for him stretches into things such as concrete as well as rock or earth. He has long black hair and a bodybuilder´s physique, but the XWF medical staff gave him a two out of five since despite his appearance he is somewhat low in the "mega strong" scale. He too, is currently in the gym

Michael Killmaster is a exceedingly tall (7+ feet tall) young man with surprising strength and the physique to match, but his endurance is low enough that the XWF medical staff gave him a two out of five. He is currently in the lobby.
>>
>>21759424
seems fair

>>21759459
Honestly, from a purely clinical point of view, I think you should push whoever the fans like the most. Power =/= charisma
>>
>>21759489
Lets meet the people in the gym
>>
>>21759489

Only light? Or can Mana use the whole E-M spectrum? Either way, blinding blasts (not just dazzling ones) seem obligatory, maybe even using them for damage purposes.

Carlos? He's totally developing some rock-hardness.

Killmaster sounds like he needs a session with Mai. He'll either drop dead or boost his endurance, either way, problem solved.
>>
>>21759489
Mana might be able to be able to turn her light powers into laser beams in the future, but I'm guessing it'll require a bit of xp, however we should look to getting her some weak sound manipulation and combine that with her light ability to make flashbangs.
Wait, Carlos can manipulate rock, right?
Is there any way he could learn how to cover himself in rock as some kind of supernatural power armour?
Tall guy? Stretchy McDhalsim?
We should see about taking them to Yakazawa's ASAP.
>>
>>21759570
Right now just light. But technically
1) She´s a starting character. Her attributes are pretty good across the board, but has low powers (strobe). Still, think of her as light "themed". We can have her develop variants of her powers later, tho someone mentioned he would prefer if we went less "Princess Manager" (btw i am fine admitting I loved that game, and my princesses always had perfect stats) and more about Ruthless Business in the future.

You meet with your new people. Mana is rather cocky, imagining she will start making a 7 digit salary right away.

Fighters get good salaries, true, but noone gets THAT high a salary. They get huge bonuses per fight, tho, and since they can fight very often, they get a lot of bonuses. Typically 100k per fight at the Silver Division level, with Brass and Python having made 3 millions for their Gold Division fight (which they split in Python´s favor since the fight was shoot and Brass got the title)

Also, we took a huge risk shooting that fight, because as I had mentioned often, everyone knows -some- fights are fixed, but also everyone knows the title fights are legit. Good thing it worked, tho

Uhmm... getting Carlos covered in rocks could be possible, but I´m more worried about the damage to the stage every time he fights. That and Boss wanting a talk with the kid about wrecking his ring.

And no, I was thinking massive, space-marine-like figure for Killmaster. But with barely above-average stamina
>>
>>21759632
Mana: -the blonde is using one of the machines to do sets lifting a ton- "Ah, you must be mister Salter, right? When am I going to get my first check? I want to move downtown, hopefully closer since I hate driving to work, and the apartments around here as pretty expensive"
>>
Killmaster needs a shtick other than his height and admittedly awesome name. Not sure what.

Could Carlos branch out from stone to metal? Either way, golems, armor, projectiles BRACK ROCK SHOOTA are obvious right now.

...I can't think of Mana as anything other than a Touhou right now. I'm sorry.

...and that's just about all I'll be saying this thread!
>>
"'Ey, Mr Salter! You a brass-balled legend, sir. I'm Gabe Guthrie, but my friends call me Goblin and my foes call me Gutters. You're a hero, Sir. I know I'm a long way off being good enough for you, Sir, but give me five or ten years and I could be a star, like your man up there. I may look a scrawny punk, but I got fire in my heart, Sir.
I'll be a part of XWF someday. I can only hope a master like yourself will be there to guide me."
>>
>>21759643
"You're paid a salary, but the bulk of your money will come from fights, that's your job after all. However your job is to also entertain people, become popular enough with the crowd, and you can earn extra cash from endorsments and merchandise.

Remember, once you step into the ring, you're not a person anymore, you're a performer, an entertainer. The audience wants to be entertained and the better you can pull that off, the more money you'll see in the future."
>>
>>21759664
Gabe has some control over fire and would someday like to be a fighter in XWF. He's nowhere near ready. for a spot with Ned Salter, but perhaps he'll one day be worthy. One can only hope.
>>
I don´t play touho, but I assume someone is called that way there? Im fine giving her another name if it´ll help you. How about Mara?

Mara: "Sure, got it, but could I get the first month in advance, so I could move to a new apartment?"
>>
>>21759632

Which is why I wanted to write it, for the extra dice and xp.

I reckon after that, plus Ami's help, the guys' dice pool to work the fight was high-30s
>>
>>21759703
You mean Mai, and yep
>>
>>21759695
No, it's just that they spew loads of colorful projectiles. And there does happen to be a light manipulator or two. Don't worry about it - my mind probably just jumped to it because of what I was doing earlier. Mana's fine.

Whoa. 200% the expected post rate.
>>
>>21759695
>listed as Mana
>actually called Mara
clerical error by someone in Head Office, I assume.
>>
>>21759664

"Work hard, eat your greens, stay in school, keep out of trouble, and train. That's how you get ready for the XWF"
>>
>>21759680
>>21759664
Wait, who is this posting?
>>
>>21759695

"Win your first fight, and put down a deposit with your winnings. First thing to learn in the XWF; You have to earn everything you get. Some people try and shortcut their way to the top, but they're scum, and get found out in the end. Ned Salter doesn't do shortcuts, and neither do any of his guys and gals."

"Now, you've been given to me because someone thinks you have potential. But potential means nothing unless you fulfil it, and you do that through hard work. My job is to manage you, help you become a success. But if you don't give it everything, you'll just be wasting everybody's time."
>>
>>21759716

Autocorrect again. I type Ami more than Mai so the phone tries to "help"
>>
>>21759759
I assume some random anon just dropping by

>>21759766
Mara: "Alright, then when it´s my first fight? I´m winning this one, right?"
>>
>>21759791
A fighter you can use later when he's all growed up if you want.
>this is my dream
>>
>>21759791
In a week, as to you winning, it depends on wether or not you'll be the last one standing at the end.

It's my job to help you win though, it won't be easy, but if it was, everyone would be an XWF champ."
>>
Random anon should be informed that we only play the fighters when they're in the ring; otherwise we're NED SALTER, THE BEST DAMN MANAGER EVER.

Random anon should still feel free to take a name and join in, of course.
>>
>>21759808
Mara: "Wait, I thought I would get a.. how do you call them.. a jobber for my first fight? you mean I´m actually going to have to fight? I know some judo but that´s it"
>>
>>21759818
"Luckily for you, I know some good training locations, and I have a mix tape with the best goddamn training music from the 80's.

If you want a jobber, I'll hook you up with one, but jobbers don't make a career, real fights do."
>>
>>21759818

"Never assume anything; Besides, I don't believe in jobbers, everyone should get their chance."

"But Judo is a good place to start in terms of learning how to *really* fight. Rest assured, you'll be up to speed by the time you hit the ring. You're riding the Salter Express now, on the line to success"
>>
>>21759842
Mara: "Jesus, alright. I just thought that, you know... hold on, how much is it per fight, again?"
>>
>>21759818
Well shit. Now I half-want Ned to step into the ring as tell her to SHOW ME YOUR MOVES. That would likely end terribly, though.

How would her hand-to-hand compare to Ned's anyway?
Why am I still posting I should be gone by now
>>
>>21759885
Uhmm... I think Ned has more skills, but she wo- actually im not sure. Her powers could throw him off balance but im not sure if ..uhmm... she would have the advantage, but not by a large enough margin to say she would win for sure

Once you are done talking with Mara, you check on Carlos.

The man looks quite impressive, more pumped than a body builder on drugs, but that may be from his subconscious idea of himself shaping his body. According to his medical data, his strength is actually barely top human. Still, he looks quite serious as he keeps repeating with a hundred kilos weight.

(low stats but high work ethic. High appearance but low str)
>>
>>21759868

"Sorry if it sounds harsh, kid, but this is a harsh business. Anyone wanting an easy cheque and an expense account should move to Africa with Team Tomorrow."

"Your first fight should net you around 100 grand, if you take my advice"
>>
>>21759868
"In the Silver league? 100k per fight, but usually split 70-30 the winners way. The Championship obviously has a bigger purse, but you have to get there first, which isn't easy."
>>
>>21759945

"Carlos? Ned Salter, your new manager. We need to talk"
>>
>>21760057
Carlos: "Ah, mister Salter. Give me a minute please..." -he finishes his last series and puts the weight down, cleaning his hands- "Thanks. Pleasure to meet you, boss. When do you think I could get in the ring?"
>>
>>21759945
*Show him some pictures of olympic weightlifters*
"See these guys? They might not be as buff as you, but they're some of the strongest non-Nova's around. Your muscles are impressive, and will go well with the crowd, I'll give you that, but they'll be of little help in an actual fight.

It's not how big your muscles are, it's how effiecnt and how well you use them that masters. You ever see those tiny asian martial arts masters guys beat the ever loving crap out of gigantic dudes? It's kinda like that."

What I want to do is make you dangerous as one of those guys, pound for pound. With your extra mass, you could turn into a human wrecking ball."
>>
"Pretty soon. First, however, I would like you to meet some friends of mine." I want to have Mia put everyone through their paces and give advice.
>>
>>21760123
Carlos: "Alright, but, does that means I´m gonna have to wait for my fight? Besides, I already do martial arts anyway"

The young man seems enthusiastic, and is certainly ready to go. While he would have been considered a tremendous athlete as a baseline, as a nova, he is rather disappointing.
>>
>>21760160

"We'll get you into the ring as soon as we can, don't worry."
>>
>>21760159
Mai

Carlos: "Are they in the business, too?"
>>
>>21760159
Wait, I'm confused, wasn't everyone saying a couple threads ago that Mai's ranch was for the 'in-group?'

Either way, I want to check out the Golden Touch, Ned's got a bunch of wrestlers to look after, and limiting himself to only two gyms seems, well, limiting.

(How many people can Mai train at one time? IIRC she needed to bring in Ami just to get Brass' speed up to par.)
>>
>>21760194
"Some yes, others are expert trainers who I think can help you."
>>
>>21760194

"You could say that, given that two of them just had the fight of the year for the Gold title..."

>Week 1 of training will be Boot Camp at the Ranch, under the auspices of Mai, Brass and Python. Ned is still pretty new to the game in terms of spotting talent.
>>
>>21760225
I see no problem having her evaluate our prospects. Also, creating divisions in our stable "for the cameras" is fine, but creating actual divisions will breed unnecessary resentment.
>>
>>21760225
Ya, I thought that was what we were going to do, too.

Ah, I see, I guess having Mai take a look at least wouldnt hurt. I suggest we go take a look at the Golden Touch Gym soon, either way.

Also, how did 4 1/2 hours past by this fast? hell... anyway, should we stop for today? and are we playing rogue trader in a few hours? I guess we COULD use 4chan, but since you are going to use your own characters, wouldnt it be more satisfying if you roll your own stuff in OPEN?
>>
>>21760257

I wonder if we could pitch a partly-kayfabe reality series, along the lines of Ultimate Figher, or WWE Tough Enough/NXT, featuring our latest batch of recruits...
>>
>>21760287

The thread went like lightning because it wasn't one person doing story time this time out. Liking the switch back to RP-stuff so far.

I thought we said Friday for RT? Because I can't play tonight. If you guys have enough folks for a game, feel free to go ahead.
>>
>>21760333
Ah you are right, I remembered now. Friday then

Anyway, I have to take another shower (fucking summer down here) and go out. I´ll see you guys tomorrow, and then we can interview the other guy and probably get in touch with 2-3 more of the missing 5.
>>
>>21760293

Actually, you know what? We can do it as a Web Series. Ned can buy a small media production company, and have them make Webisodes featuring our new guys.

>>21760367

See you tomorrow. I'll send over the character stats tonight.
