Good evening, /tg/! Sorry it's a tiny bit late tonight. I've had a lot of problems in my personal life and the last thread flopped, but don't let that make you think I'm going to stop running the thread! Oh no! Who's ready to go to war?

Previous thread is archived here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/21703293/

The full archives are here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Red%20White%20and%20Britfag

Rolled 2, 5, 2 = 9

I'm here, out of it beyond belief, but I'm here.
>>
Here tonight. Not sure how long, but I'm here.
>>
>>21778405
Estoy aqui!
>>
>>21778539
Not sure what that means, but I agree!
>>21778414
>>21778442
You two are awesome as well. I promise I'll be more on the ball this time, folks.

Where's Refrek and all the others? I know he wouldn't miss a chance to legitimately beat some face!
>>
To war! Let the red sun set this day!
>>
>>21778614

Right here, couldn't find the thread.
>>
>>21778614
Just do your best, boss. If there are a few hiccups every once in a while, well, meh. Shit happens. God knows I've helped destroy your sleeping cycle enough to let you have a couple freebies for personal stuff.

Just don't let it happen again! haha.
>>
So, for the organization for our forces, I have some ideas on how it should work and their formations. After Britfag posts would anyone mind if I make a proposal for us to vote on?
>>
>>21778645
Little chance of that... But you're not here to hear about unrequited love and other such drama! You want to see limbs hacked off! Homes turned into infernos! Entrails spilled onto the floor! You want to see WAR!
>>21778615
Should have known you'd never stay away! Let's get this show on the road!
>>
Back, with a repaired keyboard, and a thirst for some Sun People blood. Let's make those fuckers pay.
>>
>>21778840
RIGHT! RULES! Who here missed the last thread and wants a re-cap? This time, I promise, it'll be much more succinct. Or at least, I'll try to make it so. If not, we'll just move right on to picking the army list (again, this time with more detailed instructions).
>>
>>21778840
>But you're not here to hear about unrequited love and other such drama!
I wouldn't mind...

>>21778800
Go ahead.
>>
>>21778860
Sounds good.
>>
>>21778800
Are the formations going to be decidedly too overly complicated for what our society has yet managed to discover so far? Also, will the lack of battlefield communications screw it up. Because we seriously don't have any way to communicate once battle starts.

As for the proposal, go for it as far as I'm concerned.
>>
Rolled 1, 2, 5 = 8

>>21778860
Me please.
>>
>>21778899
I know, I just mean the division of it and I believe we realize "Put the vulnerable stuff in the rear".

Also Britfag, may we get exact numbers on what the Lion Lords, the Earthsplitters, and River Brothers brought.
>>
>>21779008
Well obviously, I just figured if your plan involved 12 different squads of men running around then that might not be such an excellent idea without a certain level of coordination which we don't have.
>>
>>21779056
No, my plan involves for most of our force hiding in the trees near their farms at the bottom of the hill while a heavy squad fucks up their farms. We wait for them to run out to attack out heavy square then burst through the trees to go and take them by surprise.

We put the devouts and stuff in the heavy squad and the light and fast ones in the hidden portions of our army.
>>
>>21779084
Assuming they haven't spotted our column by the time we get there then we might well take them entirely unaware with that bit. Good idea.

I just hope that bit of underhanded planning doesn't anger Groza. Not that I think it would honestly. It's not like we're torturing and killing an unarmed man haha.... again.
>>
>>21779129
If anything he will be happy. If we don't do this we'll end up going into a siege and having to shoot at them behind their walls for days or weeks. This way it'll be open combat.
>>
>>21778884
More to the point, I'M not interested in sharing with all the internet at large.

>>21778893
>>21778899
>>21778918
Formations are most assuredly a no-go. Such things require a more advanced and disciplined force than your present mob. SPEAKING OF..!

THIS is a stat block.

Tribesmen Band
Militia Mob Lv. 1

Numbers:
Morale:
Attack: 2
Defence: 2 (11)
Order: 0
Move: 3
Gear:
Copper tools and hunting spears
Crude shields (+1 armour)
Special:
NONE

You'll notice the 'numbers' and 'morale' are blank. This is because they very much vary, depending on external factors. The rest though are easily explained.

Attack: The number of dice rolled for every attack action
Defence: The number rolled on active defence. The number in brackets is the passive defence.
Order: The discipline and training of the unit. This is a measure of how likely they are to break ranks, or ignore orders
Move: How many hexes on the battle map the unit can move in a turn
>>
>>21779172
The system used is roll-and-keep. The number next to the relevant skill is the number of dice rolled for a relevant action. The kept number is one, plus the unit's ranks in a relevant class. For instance, infantry might not be much good at knocking down a gate (at least without a ram or other siege equipment).

Is everything clear so far? Any questions?
>>
>>21779295
Clear so far.
>>
>>21779295
got it.
>>

When presenting an army list, please present it like so:

Tribesman Band
100
Ram

Tribesman Band
70
Hunters

Shrine Cart
20
Shrine of Groza

And so on. Certain troops, mostly war machines, have minimal troop requirements to be effective, or a maximum number that can be fielded, such as an honour guard. Other units can be any size that the tribe requires!

Now for the list of available troops!

Why two supply carts? I mean, aside from having mostly archers, why two supply carts? lol.
>>
>>21779703
Supply carts are needed to carry food and ammunition, as well as extra equipment and such, with a travelling army. If an army runs out of food, it will subsist off the land, but suffer MAJOR attrition every turn. Every cart can only carry so much, of course!
>>
>>21779612
Sure about such low numbers on the rams? 10 people are easily dispatched and I bet you need at least 4 of them to wield it. Easy to take them out completely or wreck their morale.
>>
>>21779752
Oh and you put hunters get ranged attack level one, does that replace their melee attack or is it in addition to it?
>>
>>21779810
We keep the rams away from the battle and only bring them up when we have a path to the wall cleared.
>>
>>21779752
Ah, I assumed it was for all of the supply carts. Well then, what's the minimum for each cart then?

And to clarify, we can only have 1 shrine cart or can we have both if we separate them like refrek did?
>>
>>21779813
The ranged attack is in addition to the melee attack they usually have.
>>
>>21779822
Oh right. For some reason I thought we'd attack the gates while the battle still goes... Huh.

>>21779172
I'm just curious: Is it about your unrequited love or are you still playing counselor for friends? No need to answer of course.
>>
>>21779878
So... everyone goo with my army list?
>>
>>21780120
The Emperor has cleared me to agree with the army list.
>>
>>21780120
Basically, yes. Don't think any changes would improve much, atm.
>>
>>21780120
Sure but what about the rest of the carts then? You've only got 2 listed. I believe we have ten. Or is this just the battle order when we get there and the carts are coming along too?
>>
>>21780177
Well, I assume a supply cart unit won't simply be 1 cart. Am i assuming wrong Britfag?

Two men to drive each cart and a few extras for support. I just divided our carts into two separate units.
>>
>>21780272
I just realised I fucked up. I really should list machines AND men in something like that. Every unit then is 4 carts. I'll just adjust for you, if you like?

> Looking through the rules for combat, I'll likely have to modify them over time. Edition wars. Yay. This'll do for now though.
>>21779612
Force organisation accepted.

The River Brothers have sent their supplies in the form of grain in great baskets. The Lion Tribe have sent 120 men, while the Earthsplitters have sent another 80. They appear quite surprised at the sheer size of your force! Accompanying the warband are the tribe's heroes; Mikuhla, Derrik, Trym, Gerin and Sallina.

The warband is assembled and provisioned. Embark now?

> Y/N
>>
>>21780742
If the supply train was readjusted like Ref wanted, then Yes I guess.
Can we have a quick glance / one sentence about our allies' troops? What they field?
>>
>>21780742
May we know what the other tribes brought? I am curious what kind of force they have sent.
>>
>>21780774
The Lion Tribe seems to be fielding just tribesmen, much like your own, albeit armed without shields. Most of them hold copper or stone weapons, such and spears, hatchets and and knives, even heavy clubs. Only a few of them have bows, though many have slings and bags of stones. Some of them sport a kind of exceptionally heavy and tough hide armour they claim comes from their cow herds.

The Earthsplitters have sent a good number of their tribesmen, most with shields and spears. Nearly all of them have copper weapons and those that don't have bronze. For the most part, they seem to be using spears, with a few axes here and there. A handful of them have bows.
>>
We need to establish that the warriors are not to initiate a melee while the archers are firing, and the archers are not to fire into the middle of a melee.

Please, because I know that if we don't, Britfag will find a way to rape us about it.
>>
>>21781078
Hmmm... before be leave give the Lion Tribe's warriors a gift of supplying them with our extra weapons. I know we have a surplus of bows and a surplus of some copper weapons.
>>
>>21781112
As much as I appreciate the complement to my deviousness; no, I'm not that harsh. Any idiot knows not to fire when you might hit your friends. It's just common sense. Your allies already know that much.

I'm not out to screw you guys over on purpose, (You do a good enough job of THAT by yourselves), I just want to make things... 'Fun' for you.

You've all played Dwarf Fortress, right?

> Embark Warband?
> Yes
> No
> More info
>>
>>21781260
I'm fine with it, so
>Yes

>Caution, you are about to embark in an evil region. It might be very difficult to survive here. Embark anyway?

>Yes
>>
>>21781260
...yes I have...

Just give the Lion Tribe access to our surplus weaponry then we can embark.

As for our embarkment we are going to where we found that abandoned camp and having out hunters determine which way these men traveled and traveling along the same path. If the Sun Folk are sending an army they will be doing it along that path most likely.

Also, we will have patrols of hunters scouting out ahead of the main force. Groups of 12 fleet footed men going out in every directions, 1 group in each front, behind, left, and right. They are not to be gone for any later than a day and will carry back any special information they find. Under no circumstances do these men engage the enemy, they must bring back information.
>>
>>21781390
Seconded. Caution is always a good thing.
>>
>>21781390
YO BRITFAG I'M ADDING SOMETHING!

Derrik will lead the scouts that go ahead of the army.

Also these scouts will report any large sources of food they see along the way or other points of interest besides another army.

Also these scouting parties will be made up of a few men from each tribe if possible, and we will bring some of the more level headed Lion Lords.
>>
>>21781477
Also on a side note, I think the military planning thread scared a few people off. Once we get to the actual warfare people will come back, it's just the planning portion bores a lot of people. At least that's what I think.
>>
>>21781507
Yeah, I agree. That first stat block made the casuals scatter like roaches when the lights come on, haha.

Whelp, just a lesson to learn from.
>>
>>21781390
Though the tracks are mostly vanished by the passing of time, the warband sets out for the location of the hastily-abandoned camp near the Wolfsbane village. Once there, they turn, reasoning rather to follow Mikuhla's directions to the Sun People village, as he and Derrik know the way best. Everyone seems to be in very high spirits as the massive group sets out and those left behind cheer them on their way. With so many gone, the village seems almost empty...
>>
>>21781642
550 men are setting out to war. We actually outnumber their entire population. There is only one thing I am fearful of now.

Ermetha seems rather keen of sending Mickey over to this tribe. What if she has done this before with other tribes? Except these tribes didn't end up pissing them off like we did. If this is true these Sun Folk probably have allies up and down their mountain, they could be the Long Fangs of the Mountains.

If this is true they are probably amassing their forces as we march their in order to attack the Long Fang tribe, and we might come on them when their forces are at their strongest.

I only hope Britfag doesn't want us to have that much "fun"
>>
>>21781724
Well, like was mentioned earlier, the Lion Tribe and Earthsplitters sent 200 men total compared to our 350. Hopefully their allies also work on small scale battles. We might not outnumber them anymore if your scenario pans out, but we might still be even or better on just warriors.
>>
>>21781724
DONT GIVE HIM IDEAS YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!!!!!
>>
>>21781724
No. We will topple their temple, throw their goddess from the cliffs!!

We are the kin of Trym Wolfsbane, the Godslayer, He who Slew the Great Wolf Hrunti, He Who Defeated Battle Spirit Gorza in Single Combat.

We have Tamed the Lion, we have made Peace with the Earthsplitters, we have the allegiance of the River Brothers.

Now we shall throw down the Sun, we shall kill this Goddess's priest on Ermetha on her very alter!

The Sun is Setting in the distance. Now is the time of the Moon, of Hrunti and the Long Fang.

Just for your consideration ._.

That works too. I didn't even see that they were still average.

BRITFAG! Add deer hunting to that B option.
>>
>>21782122
Would I do that? Really?

To tell the truth, I'm delighted you all seem to regard my machinations with such fear. I kind of wish I had it in me to be MORE devious now, so as not to let you all down...

As summer draws to a close, the rumbling of bellies in the village prompts Rina to take to the river in an attempt to secure more food for the tribe. Fortunately, her magic holds strong and the fishermen, though greatly reduced in numbers, manage to land a good haul of fish to keep everyone fed.

Meanwhile, using the baskets gifted by the River Brothers, other members of the tribe head out to the fruit glade to gather some of the last of the summer fruits. They don't come away with many, but it's enough to keep everyone fed, for at least a little while.

Even the wise ones look into solving the food shortage problem. Strangely enough, it doesn't take them long to hit upon a neat idea. Some of the tribe are at first adverse to the idea of drinking anything from a cow, but hunger wins people over and before long, milking has become an accepted practice, although there are by not means enough cattle to provide for everyone yet.

On a side note, following the practice of milking the cows for food, there's a slight increase in women in the village accentuating their breasts in their dress. The only response comes from Yeneth's priestess who wholeheartedly supports this new fashion.

Messengers are dispatched to the nearby tribes with the message regarding runners. Usually however, while the River Brothers and Earthsplitters agree to the idea (more to keep their younger tribesmen out of trouble than anything else), the Lion Tribe refuses. They are still recovering from their defeat at the hands of the (okay, seriously, are you guys the Longfangs, or Wolfsbane?) and have sent a good deal of their fighting men and women with the warband! They just don't have the manpower to send people running thither and yon until the warband returns! Instead, they request that the other tribes help ensure their security for the time being!

Though the tribe has been occasionally eating bird eggs before, the wise ones have the clever idea of farming the eggs from the chechens/rock wobblers/chickens and using them as a food source regularly. It would require a prodigious number of hens, but it could indeed be done! The tribe is presently noted as having 97 of the creatures, which should provide enough. Indeed, some are talking about eating the birds themselves. They seem to breed like crazy!

With the onset of fall, another band is sent into the forest to gather fruits and wild vegetables. While the haul is impressive however, back home, things are no-where near so wonderful.

The grain crop has all but failed! All but a handful of the plants are weak, anaemic, have no seeds, have withered away, or simply failed to grow! While the vegetables have still done well, the entire village is in a state of panic, worrying their supplies might not last the winter!

We need to actually induct a priest into the order for the harvest god right away if we want our grain to do well next year.

Thank god a lot of our men our gone, we'll need less food.

Oh yeah. I was never entirely clear on if we were longfangs on wolfsbanes.

I just figured Longfangs was out tribe and Wolfsbane was out defacto leading clan.

Oh, Refrek. Why not offer the Lion Tribe to set up shop in our village! Think of it. They'll see how we live, maybe even grow comfortable within our cultural atmosphere and be more inclined to become "One Tribe" as you keep throwing out there.

I agree to both of those!

Thanks for the thread once again, dear Brit. And I wholeheartedly wish you good luck on your love affairs. I actually have watery eyes right now... damn. May you find a fine tribeswoman one day.

Heck, I'll even throw out a nice speech to give for consideration of the rest of the tribe in trying to convince them into our care. All I see are benefits and only a couple small possibly problems with having them simply stay with out for the duration.

Good idea.

This is what I assumed as well. We collectively are the Long Fangs, and out most prominent clan was the Wolfsbane.

Between you and I, I'd imagine we can push this idea right through then. Not that it'll be difficult. It really is just a sound idea all the way around.

I do not hate fun. I just know that when the players give the GM ideas TERRIBLE things happen to the party.

We got spares, we can let a few (hundred) soldiers die.

>Letting nearly all of the healthy males in the village die.
> The enemy will come for us after the defeat and kill the defenseless women and children.
Seriously dont give the GM ways to kill us okay?
