As Ned Salter, we manage a group of superhuman fighters in the XWF, the extreme warfare federation, where being that would have been superheroes in a better world, duke it out in the highest rated pay-per-view in history.

I recommend we arrange brass's fight, and then arrange Ami's debut vs Kodac.
>>
Morning

Quick query while it's quiet; was there something you wanted to discuss about my RT char?
>>
>>21820334
No, he seems fine. Just the one thing, would you prefer to start with high profit but a shit ship (your fleet was recently lost), like a miserable shuttle, or start with a near-dead dynasty but an awesome, ancient ship and a trade chart signed by the emperor himself?
>>
>>21820333
Well, who do we want Brass to fight with? and are we doing something with Ami´s exp before she has her fight? Honestly I would just spam into buying her hp, down to the last bit of exp, and make her truly truly outrageous that way, like gems.

Gems are truly, truly outrageous
>>
>>21820371
I'd go with awesome ship. I should mention that about 1/2 of my origin path is "really hates the space church".
>>
>>21820385
I think the general consensus was the godzilla knockoff.
>>
>>21820371

Honestly, I'm fine with either. But Awesome Ship/Low PF sounds fun
>>
>>21820400

No, King Monitor is later.

Brass' first Omega match is a worked victory against Novo Santo. Repays the favour, answer ensures a memorable debut
>>
>>21820420
Oh, right, I remember now.
Okay, so we get a Santo/Brass fight, and a Red Jane/Kodiak fight.
I wonder if we should change Ami´s ring name. Anyway, do you want to use her exp in something, or save it? I would buy her more hp, or save for more quantum
>>
>>21820443
More HP works for me.
>>
>>21820443

More HP for now, once she starts winning she'll earn her own xp.

Oh, since the season is now over, does Ned get his own xp for being an awesome businessman? Because I reckon a second Mega Dot in Wits and Manipulation (5 x current rating each, total of 10) plus some Luck Power would be good, and affordable.
>>
And Python (who's now Champ by default) can fight whoever he wants. Pretty sure everyone will be lining up to take a shot.

Maybe White Mamba? Complete the burial that started when he got knocked out of the Tourney so early.

be right back, gonna catch breakfast

(it´s a really nice ship)
>>
>>21820480
I gave him 20 exp in the communal exp pool, yesterday
>>
Anyway, I dont think we´ll need to roll anything to set up the fight with Santo. May need to, to get Kodiak to fight Ami, tho. She did bitchslap him around his changing room that one time he tried to get grabby with her, so he knows what he would be in for
>>
>>21820754
Time to pay the piper Kodiak... How many dice?
>>
>>21820773
a normal business roll, so for Ned that´s 12d10, but like I said, Kodiak doesn´t wants a piece of that, so I´ll make it difficulty +4. We´ll need at least 5 successes total to convince him (or his manager, since he specially also knows is not a good idea).

I´ll give you +2 dice if you can writefag a convincing speech
>>
>>21820814
does "You used her as an ornament for a year, least you can do is help her debut." count as an inspiring speech? I mean, its not like we couldn't easily pressure him into the match anyway, the storyline of her calling him out practically writes itself.
>>
>>21820867
Actually that does give me an idea. We could just announce we want to call Kodiak out, and let him try to come up with a excuse for the fans and the media
>>
>>21820814

"Hey, Frank. Ned here. Stipulations are done, it's time for Ami to debut. Now you know I've always done right by you, and you've done right by me. So I'm giving you a chance to set your boy up with a full-bore rivalry. Ex-valet debuts against her former charge, who's doing the "you're not good enough" schtick? The marks will eat that for breakfast. OK, he might get stomped, but his heel cred will be through the roof when it's done. And every time those two cross each other's paths, the story will build. It's gold, my man, solid gold."

"And as an extra bonus, you sign for this one, I'll get you Python next week. Who wouldn't want a shot at the champ? There's a whole story we can work around this, and the net result is that your boy Kodiak scores heel heat through going after the #1 face stable in the XWF right now."

"So, what do you say?"
>>
>>21820874
Sounds like fun.
>>
>>21820889
Frank: "A rivalry needs them to be rather balanced, so I think it would be alright if we script her to take a fall next time, in say, a month after their first fight?"
>>
>>21820874

Promo vignettes, but worked, not shot.

They call each other out; He says she can't hack it, she says she's out to prove herself.

Was the speech worth +2?
>>
>>21820919

Oooooooh, dilemma.... I'm not so sure we want to do this. Having Ami lay down? Urrrrgh...

We could offer to put the month-later fight (fair, not a worked loss) on the undercard of the Big In Japan PPV.
>>
>>21820932
A bit short, but if you agree with the terms I´ll take off the +4 difficulty. Otherwise it stands as it is but you get a +1 dice
>>
>>21820983
hmm... 13d10 need 5. I think we can hack it, espicially if we have mega dice.
>>
>>21820983

I think communal will is going to want us to roll with the extra difficulty, and the short +1

Also prepared to leave the Japan show slot on the bargaining table, if it helps.
>>
>>21820983
We're just tricking Frank into thinking it's a good deal. Kodiak's popularity will crash when he loses. Ami needs to be set up as an equal, though inexperienced fighter to our other wrasslers in Old School.
No surrender.
If he insists, drop the deal. The Old School brand is too valuable to weaken.
>>
>>21821007
the last one if your mega dice
>>
>>21821017
is your mega dice, i meant
>>
>>21821011
Alternative: Ami loses the first, but Kodiak cheats to do it. This is mutually beneficial. Writing on my phone, so can't explain in detail, but it should be obvious why this is better than losing afterwards.
>>
>>21821011

It's not a trick. Kodiak will genuinely get massive heel heat going by going after Old School. His popularity will be fine; He lost to Brass, but bounced back OK.

This isn't about screwing anybody over; That's not how Ned operates. This is about Ned explaining why he's right, and how if people do things his way, everybody gets richer.
>>
Rolled 6, 4, 10, 2, 5, 4, 6, 1, 7, 4, 2, 3, 5 = 59

>>21821037
You know, I'm willing to bet that we could convince our succubi chick to play beauty and the beast with him. Anyway, rolling.
>>
>>21821042
You're wrong, though. I can't explain fully, but he will come off as a wuss if he loses every fight against Old School. Villain deterioration. He'll end up like Team Rocket.

Also, Ned's a businessman. If he's smarter than his colleagues that's their issue. He doesn't lie, but that doesn't mean he has to correct their fallacious reasoning.
>>
J>>21821048

Oh, well, his loss.

Let's call the lass who was doing Ami's dance training (Veritas?) and see if she wants to do a 'defeat the teacher to complete your training' angle
>>
>>21821048
But would he survive that, or come out of it as a little puppy? I gave her a perception and strength drain because originally she was an opponent for a group I was running, and I noticed that the players that get high str usually have shit perception and viceversa so it was a very easy easy way to take them

That and for some reason noone ever takes willpower buffs. Brass would be the only character I know of that would resist her (with ease, too)

>>21821048
3 successes but a explodey dice, roll it

>>21821071
I agree, thats why his manager wants him to win in the rematch
>>
>>21821093
Equitas.
I can get behind this plan. This is what we discussed a long time ago, after all.
>>
>>21821093
That sounds pretty good, actually. (Equitas)
I dont think she would need convincing, so we can just briefly write it, like getting Santo vs Brass. Speaking of which, you should give his manager a call
>>
>>21821071
What about the density changing chick as the first fight, then if she wins, have Kodiak start bragging about how 'his' girl won. This pisses Ami off stating that they broke it off moths ago, and he should stop taking credit for her achivements, which leads to a work match between the two, that Kodiak wins by blatent cheating, which is followed up by a shoot 'revenge match?'
>>
>>21821117
I agree with everything except the shoot revenge plan. Kodiak would demand more money if he lost that way than if he lost fair and square.
Also, the cheating should come in second round after Ami is seconds from destroying him in the first. He gets panicky and cheats like a little bitch. Revenge match, we just annihilate him immediately.
>>
>>21821117
Actually that isin´t a bad idea, either. Cheating to win would work well for him as a heel, and if he´s a douche about it, he may get into that category that the fans "love to hate"

But how DO you cheat in this case?
>>
>>21821136
Wait, what? Last time I checked, a Shoot was unscripted, when it's scripted it's called Work.
>>
Rolled 3

>>21821097
Weird. I always thought of the standard tank design as Psychic Shield, Absorption (energy or physical), and Invulnerability (energy or physical).
>>
>>21821138
Bring a weapon into the ring? Start flying for real?
We'd need Black Hawk to be the referee. Would make the cheating apparent.
Something like that.
>>
>>21821113

"You have reached the answerphone on El Novo Santo's management team. Please leave a message"
"Hi, this is Ned Salter. Need to talk about doing Reaper v Novo Santo for his re-debut. Full-on ultra-old-school style, we're talking retro spots up the wazoo, but ramped up to 11 like only Novas can. Lucha high-flyer vs unstoppable monster. A real hymn of praise to the old ways. Veteran fans will cry watching it, new fans will be straight onto OPnet to watch classic matches. Call me back, let me know what you think"
>>
>>21821138
Well I was thinking that he could have a partner tag-team her by suprise. Then I got to thinking that his partner could be paladin in a shocking twist, but then I realised everyone hates Shyamalan. Maybe the guy with the power wrench?

.
>>
>>21821138
Using weapons that he didn't summon inside the arena? Blatant pre-match buffing by another heel?
>>
>>21821169
We already did that with Brass, though.
Not saying it's a bad idea, because it's still as valid as back then, but maybe something new would be better?
>>
Well, im not sure on real pro-wrestling, but in the XWF, you "shoot" a match when you fake it, and/or the winner is already decided

So many ideas, is hard to go with one
>>
>>21821192
Well I was thinking of having a way to have make Ami violate the 5 second airtime rule, which would be especially cheap seeing as how she can't fly.

The problem is, short of him having web powers, I can't see how he'd pull it off.
>>
>>21821202

In real pro-wrestling, worked is fake, shoot is real. I've been using those terms.
>>
>>21821202
Okay, that's kinda confusing since wikipedia says that the name came from 'Straight Shooting.'

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_%28professional_wrestling%29
>>
>>21821246
>>21821251
Well, I dont mind using them correctly. I wonder why they are reversed in the XWF book. Someone made a mistake in writting the book? wouldnt be the first time

>In before "lol its a ww book"
>>
Anyway, Ami vs Equitas and Brass vs El Nova Santo, then

Airtsu: "Sir, you have a call" -your secretary calls you over the intercom and reroutes the call to you
Greg Fairside: -El Nova Santo´s manager- "Hey there. Ned Salter, right? I´m Greg Fairside, Santo´s manager. He said you wanted to have him fight Brass, is that correct?"
>>
>>21821340
yes
>>
>>21821340
"That's right - who better for Brass to fight than the only guy who's come close to beating the Bomber Lord recently? Given the huge fanbase for Brass, and the support Santo has from the Hispanic community, the match would be the biggest fight of the year!"
>>
>>21821371
>telling him why we want Brass to fight Santos
We don't want to give him leverage; we want to tell him why HE wants Santos to fight Brass. For now, a simple affirmative should suffice. Then he'll tell us his own opinion.
>>
>>21821340

"That's right. Think of it as a double Welcome Back. Santo from his coma, and Brass from his Omega division exile."
>>
>>21821371
Greg: "Well, that sounds alright for your man, but what does Santo gets out of it?"

-roll awareness, it´s 10d10-
>>
Rolled 4, 2, 7, 3, 9, 6, 7, 2, 1, 7 = 48

>>

>>21821410

If there's something not quite right here, does Natural Empath give Ned a bonus to realise that?
>>
>>21821476
>>21821486

You hear Santo´s voice, probably from somewhere in the same room Greg is.

Santo: "Don´t tease them, man. I already told you I owe them one, so it´s alright"

Greg: -covering the phone, but still audible- "Pssh, there´s no reason I can´t get you something out of it. I heard from upper management that they´re preparing a videogame. Maybe we can get you into it"

Santo: "Fine, just don´t make too big a fuss"
>>
>>21821530
Well if that's the way he's gonna be, pretend that you don't want him in the video game, and do some haggling over pay (if any).

Maybe have him be an unlockable character, or maybe a boss?
>>
>>21821530

>Not letting on that we heard the chat

"You guy and my guy get to unify as the top faces in the Omega division. Respect match, a united front onstage and off. Stronger together, it sends a message to Bomber that he's not running roughshod over everyone any more".
>>
>>21821562
One of those bosses that after beating the game once, you can play as, maybe
>>
Rolled 70

>>21821562
I'd say unlockable, but we are making this a game about our guys. We add in pur buddy Sabtos and upper management will say 'oh it's an XWF game now, Bomber Lord and some of the others should be in it too'.
>>
>>21821574
We could totally throw in a reference to him being knocked into a coma that not even the doctors know if he'll ever recov-
Oh, hey, he's back as a player character now!
>I got better.
>>
>>21821562

The game is almost done, adding new bosses now would be a pain.

Having him as DLC, though, that's workable.

I remind you all of Guardian Heroes, arguably the greatest side-scrolling beat em up ever. It had a cast of hundreds, with a VS mode where you could play as the heroes, or as villains you'd unlocked. I imagine our game has something similar.

But didint you got turn into a newt?

>>21821574
Yeah, that'll work, since Santo's manager is going to play hardball, so can Ned, time to put his super negoiation skills to work!

In my mind, I picture the negoiations to have tonnes of special effects, with lens-flare, intense camera focus, high-tension music, and other over-the-top things that would not be out of place in a fighting series.
>>
>>21821574
Clearly he has been mind controlled by the evil villain who totally isn't the bomber lord.
>>
>>21821623
Greg: "Your negotiation-fu is not bad!" -mouth moves out of timing with the voice
Ned: "Now feel the power of my phone´s awesome app!" -also out of time between mouth and voice-

They both proceed to negotiate while standing on the heights of a bamboo forest. It may also be snowing

Well, anwyay, DLC, then? Greg wants to know if you want the fight this weekend
>>
>>21821641
I have no objection
>>
>>21821574
>>21821582
>>21821592

Don't forget, we were already talking about giving Paladin a spot in the game, so it's not the wierdest thing.

As was said a few threads ago, the game is 99% done, so new additions would pretty much *have* to be DLC.

If you want a level for it, try "Inside Santos' Mind". Complete the level, be becomes a Playable Character
>>
>>21821641

This weekend it is. No mention of. Worked fight, Brass can take this guy
>>
>>21821641
I kinda picture more like he imagines his negoiations to have Duel of the Fates playing in the background while they fight to death in an epic battle of wits, with all the seriousness of a character from Yakitate Japan! when discussing bread.

In reality it's more like this:
"I can give you 180."
"180's no good, how about 175?"
"175? you're breaking my balls dude."
>>
>>21821687
I remember I once made a skit about the US deficit reduction that basically went like that. It ended with the Speaker of the House announcing a "five year plan" to deal with the problem.
>>
>>21821687
Well, anyway, we should end the thread for now. We´ll play RT in openRPG in 2-3 hours, then? I´ll be in the server by then, either way
>>

I had a quick question about Aberrant, figured this was a good a place to ask as any: Could it be used to play a gane set in Asura's Wrath, with those power leveks?
>>
>>21821721

>I am the man who arranges the blocks that are made by the men in Khazhakstan
>They come three weeks late, and they don't tesselate, but we're working to Stalin's Five Year Plan

http://youtube.com/watch?v=hWTFG3J1CP8
>>
>>21821823
Not exactly. Its was just a five year budget plan, but Obama manged to make the house speaker troll himself.
>>
>>21821809
I dont see why not
>>
>>21821866

As in, by referencing something so Communist? Or because Presidential terms are only for 4 years?
>>
>>21821921
Yeah. The republicans like to accuse Obama of being socialist/communist, so the joke was that the president tricked them into using communist terminology. And I've probably ruined the whole joke by explaining it

make sure you are getting the version that is for your operative system. That´s a very common error

Hold on let me look for the link
>>
>>21823968
http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?c=orpg&m=getorpg

Make sure you are getting the right one for your OS

Then let it install everything it wants. Its cool, it doesnt (afaik) install you any of those pesky google bars or anything like that. It will install python, wpython and finally OPEN, then make sure you double click the right file. It should be something like open.pyw or such.

Sadly ive been using traipse for years now so I dont remember the name of the basic open executable file.

Traipse is like a small upgrade for open, you can get it here

http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?c=orpg&m=getorpg_t

that one I KNOW to be activated with traipse.pyw
