/tg/, what is the most clever way you've ever gotten rid of "that guy" in your group? We all have one, and we all love wiping that smug grin off his face.

I dealt with him in character as any man would, if hired to do a job with four other mercenaries and alone with the one in the group who repeatedly threatened, challenged and provoked him.

He keeps his wizard-wanking out of my face now.

Only did it once. Went to the college gaming club. Friend wanted to start a game, and so did a regular of the club. Everyone (10+ people) joined the regular's game, leaving my friend with myself, my girlfriend, and Fucking Quincy.

First session was character building. Fucking Quincy couldn't understand why scotch taping a magazine of ammo to his sniper rifle (he was playing a scientist) wouldn't let him get the benefits of the rapid reload feat.

We just never came back.

Actively confront him at the height of his glory, if things turn sour, activate his armor.

Is it Pathfinder or 3.5? Wizard's probably your best bet, and just take all the crafting feats.

Crafting is better in Pathfinder, where it doesn't cost XP.

If it's another system, sorry, I'm not all that familiar with crafting in other systems.
>>
>>21971248
I don't know nothing bout RPGs but a similar route could be you being an alchemist and supplying him with potions, and if he turns into an asshole again, just mix a little bit of poison in every potion you give him. Increase the dose more over time. Or give him a sleeping potion instead and rob him of his equipment to die in a canyon or something.

If any of that is possible.
>>
>>21971086

>>
>>21971248
Don't feel bad, one of the first things they tell you in literature class is that there is no such thing as an original plot. What really counts is the small personal touches you put on it, like say, hypothetically this fellow has a penchant for rape, instead of imbuing the armor with fiery locked up death, imbue with some sort of gender swapping spell, and allow his character to be raped repeatedly by bandits.

>>

Well you would have to be a evil dude to do these things but, heres what you should do. Talk to your DM first, try to work things out with him if he knows this guy often acts like a dick tell him you want your search for traps etc private and start building your plan to ruin him.

First you can disease him, if your DM is good he wont say you are diseased he will simply lower your stats on his side without telling you about it. Next, you can poison him, similar to diseases you can again lower his stats and make him have higher chance of dying. Next you can use cursed weapon to your advantage, you're a bard, you are most likely the one identifying things, just say you didnt know, roll persuade.. again you're a bard. If you are the one searching for traps you can also not mention these to him. Lastly, you are weaker then him and most likely all of these will only get you to a 50/50 situation. Get him outlawed, find a way to have him be faulty of a serious crime and lay an ambush with some guards etc.. If not just hire an assassin or if your DM plays with coup de grace attack him when hes sleeping.
Hell buy some alchemist fire and set up the battlefield before he wakes up.

Theres so many ways to fuck someone up when he thinks you're on his side but, first talk to your DM about it.

at this point I got so frustrated I pulled out some ridiculous trap from some old indie comic I got for free from the 90's, titled The Purple Snit (modified to be magical, I was still fluff faithfull damn it). I don't remember the exact details but it: Punched him the face with a boxing glove, stabbed him with floor spikes, threw him in the air, landed and sliced him up with auto slicing traps (a veg-o-matic originally), cooked him on magical (radioactive) coals for 12 hours, freeze froze him and dumped him a interplanar trash portal. I crumpled up his char sheet and threw it in my fish tank.

It took five months for me to find another game to join/dm in.

Well, there are other ways. My example was more of a figurative one.

Anyway, if you're going to exact revenge or murder another player, do so within a very large degree of safety or anonymity.

The following is from a modified Pathfinder game.

I was running a LN human wizard. My good friend was running a female minotaur bard (don't ask) that turned out surprisingly well-done. Friend #3 ran a male dragonborn cleric that she spent a good 2 hours fleshing out. And then there was the guy running the super dark'n'edgy elf rogue, Cylic. He had a typical "I AM AN ORPHAN OF WAR" backstory filled with lots of horrible atrocities against elvenkind by humans and people picking on his poor elf for having a burned face.

Anyway, he was ridiculously confrontational, especially with the cleric and he even killed an innkeeper for "looking at him funny." He wanted to rape a few NPCs and even tortured a human child to death during a search of a sacked village. We, of course, weren't nearby to do anything about in IC, but oh the things we heard OOC.

Things really escalated when he took to stalking human girls after dark and, since we weren't there IC, there wasn't much we could do. It was mostly senseless "evil for the sake of evil" crap. Now, don't get me wrong, I happen to find the LE alignment to be one of the best because it forces you to really think and RP well, but this was pure, unfiltered angst.

Anyway, one day, he actually trips over a loose board in one of the inns we were using one night and wakes us up on a return trip. We spot the blood on him and I decide to tail him the next evening using my kickass wizardan' powers.
>>
>>21972581

Fast forward a few sessions, and I've been following him (via notes passed to the DM) on his nightly excursions. He generally leaves when the party has retired for the night which is reliably before 12pm and he always returns before 5 which is when the, quite literally, sun worshiping cleric wakes up to observe the sunrise.

By this time, I've asked the GM if I can create a spell if he judges it to be fair and balanced. My creation, a variant of the delayed blast fireball, is sort of like a time bomb. You cast it, a little heatless pea of flame appears and you can then openly handle it or stash it in a container or pocket. The delay is set by the caster and can be of any length less than six hours.

With the spell's limitations, I can cast it six times a day if I sacrifice other big hitters. I end up taking 5 of them and a nice little obscure object spell.

So, night falls again and we're in a small village and I've managed the earlier fights that day using measly spells like magic missile. Only the minotaur notices anything off about it, but doesn't really pursue the subject.

So, we're in the tavern and I make a point of drinking too much. I slip the DM a note stating my intent to vomit on the rogue, which after a covert roll, succeeds brilliantly. I petition the cleric for a cleanse to "cure this damnable condition."

The rogue is disgusted and angry (how dare you blah blah) and proceeds to stomp upstairs to clean himself.
>>
>>21972595
Just as planned. I make my now sober excuses claiming the need to apologize to the poor elf. While he is telling me how much of a horrible pile of human filth I am, I make a show of being angry a kick one of his boots out of the room. He doesn't notice.

I storm out and slam the door. I take his boot into the next room over and stuff it full of 5 hour fireballs which I then hide with my obscure object spell. Since this is being done via notes, the DM is getting the shit-eatin'est grin I've ever seen and everyone is nervous that he's just rolled a random encounter with a dragon or something.

I put the boot back in the hall and pretend to be repentant. I apologize to the rogue again and go on my merry way.

He takes the boot. He doesn't check it. He puts it on.

5 hours later, there's a massive explosion on the north side of the village. It hits him all five times and vaporizes the guy instantly.

He screeches and asks how it happened. I hold up my sheet, point to Timed Fireball, and say: "Wizard."

>>
>>21972787
i dunno, man. From a gamist perspective, youre right. From a simulationist perspective, i side with the DM.

Its one thing to dodge a fireball shot at you by a wizard. its something else entirely when theres a bomb in your shoe. that you dont know about
>>
>>21972795
I guess if he gave up a high enough spell slot, his DM could've allowed him a delayed fireball with no save, but both Fireball and Delayed Blast Fireball normally allow for a Reflex save no matter where it was.

>nofunallowed.jpg
>>
>>21972836
These /tg/ stories are fun to read, but if you dig down it always just kinda turns out to be a "To defeat That Guy you must become him" sorta deal.

Like, the description of Reflex Saves on the Pathfinder SRD site reads, "Reflex

These saves test your ability to dodge area attacks and unexpected situations. Apply your Dexterity modifier to your Reflex saving throws."

It seems to me that a Reflex Save is entirely for things that are unexpected.

You're assuming things that weren't provided in the story. Maybe the Fireball beads make a short *fizz* and heat up, giving him time to tear his boot off and throw it away! I can make things up too!

Regardless, the point is that the rules of the game don't support it. Rogues are able to take 0 damage from Fireballs centered on them without moving from their square. How do you justify that?

It's not simulationist, but it's not SUPPOSED to be. It never has been.

I'll add another slow clap to your applause.

With what? There's not much left to tell. We killed the BBEG and saved the nation from certain doom. The Elder Eye was a recurring theme. Slimes. I'm 99% convinced the DM dragged in Ghaunadaur for the story.

Plague. Mass burials. Shit was getting really serious.
>>
They were always getting drunk/stoned at the table
Always attacking the other players or stealing their stuff
I flat out told them "I never want to see you at my table again"
And I never did
And a was good
>>
>>21973588

I think >>21973515 wants to know more about the German girl and her Paladin actually.
>>
>>21972957
Odd are good that you will fail one of five saves. It would only take two failed saves to kill him. Rogues are not sturdy.
>>
>>21973515
>>21973460
Of course she does, germans have first hand experience with being paragons of morality and order in a fallen world that doesn't appreciate them.
>>
>>21973643
Yeah, I know. I was being purposely oblivious. Her name is Jessica and she always plays paladin or whatever the setting equivalent may be.

I think I'll ask if she's free this weekend.

And another screen shot
>>
Was DMing a 3.5 game with all my high school buddies. We had one guy who was always a smart ass and THAT GUY but was always a good loyal bro when it counted so we put up with the bad.

He made some, I refered to it when I told a friend as "Elven Greatsword Bullshit" and he knew the exact build I was talking about. Was something with a special eleven great sword and I think a feat that allowed him to use weapon fines with it. I looked it up at the time and it was legit by the rules so I let him, and at low levels it was making encounters way too easy with the damage he was doing.

So the second spellcaster they ran into cast Shatter on it.

Did I mention the elf lands were on the other side of the ocean and seems none of the human blacksmiths knew how to forge elven swords...
>>
>>21972836
I agree with this. Him suddenly "dodging" the 5 bombs in his fucking boot just wouldn't make any sense at all.
>>
>>21973785
Good gods you are an asshole.
>>
>>21973492
DM of the ring
>>
>>21973817
Oh he fixed it eventually. Got it enchanted too. Tho then I just starting throwing stuff at them from the Book of Vile Darkness. Cause I love that book.
>>
>>21973785
The Elven Court Blade really isn't that overpowered. Seriously, you have to take a EWP to use it, it does less damage than a Greatsword, 1d10 vs 2d6, and it lets you use weapon finesse, so he can use Dex instead of Str for his To Hit rolls, it doesn't increase damage, given that he was doing that his Str was probably shit so he wasn't going to do good damage at all.

It really wasn't that good a build he was doing and you were an ass.
>>
We kicked him out of the group, then had his character open a booby trapped door.
>>
>>21973817
Agreed.

>>21973785
You remind me of an old screencap about a guy, a grimderp GM, a hammer and a little girl.

That DM was an asshole too.
>>
>>21973845
I just don't like stupid antagonists. If one dude with a giant sword in a leotard kills most of your minions, disarming him goes a long way to ensure salvaging the battle if you can not kill him outright.

This DID teach him to bring back up weapons however.

No, you're just making excuses for breaking a dude's main weapon within a few sessions because you're too lazy to scale up CR and blamed him. Be honest, crappy DM.

Does anyone have that one about the necromancer with 2 that guys in his party, who dropped everyone when the party turned on him with lots of metamagic and save or die spells?

It talked about how the true nature or arcane necromancy was in ability drain and negative levels, not in undead minions
>>
>>21974010
the one where the whole team is like, what do you even do you are useless
And they have no idea about how debuffs work?

I already read it
and saved it
Its a great story : D

I wish I had /tg/ stories to share : c
I've yet to play a single game
The DM for my group quit the game after 20 seconds because he realized half of the players were going to be That Guy
>>
>>21974347
Oh shit my group is That Guy, stoner, and rules lawyer, with me mediating. That Guy and RulesLawyer are best friends, but just argue nonstop in game
>>
>>21974142

an amazing read, as always
>>
>>21974142
I remember this was one of the first things I read on /tg/.
Still an awesome read.
>>
>>21970830
In a Vampire: the Requiem game. (that later became a V:tM game because the system and some of the fluff for V:tR sucks)

We first attempted to tame THAT GUY by bloodbinding him to another member of the group. It didn't help much, as he was still being a bitch (despite all the free crap the ST was giving him) to me about stupid stuff.

So we attempted to make sure he had a bad time by routinely fucking with his character, as his character was being a jerk.
Still didn't work
Then we royally screwed him over in his dealings at the "goblin market" where you can trade anything. (thanks partly to an epic dual by me anyways)
Yeah, he was mad.
But when he got in an idiotic fight with a werewolf, we encouraged him OOC to not back off, and so he was incapacitated.

We then told him we were switching to a game that I was running for sundays.
Then we played my game sundays, and continued the old game two other days a week ^_^

Another player sold his torpor-ed body to the Fey for awesome bonuses.

but not much because Important things first, like the videos I've made and pictures I've taken
Some things can not be retrieved from the internet at a later date [at least not in the same quality
>>
>>21974142
I don't get it. How's he able to act so fast? Seems like he's getting about 4 actions per turn.
>>
>>21981325
he debuffs them so hard that they are super slow
like suddenly being attacked by someone who is 5 levels higher than you
>>
>>21974142

I don't get it, how can you do this much stuff secretly.

>i debuffed all enemies every battle
>i cast these spells on my room
>I had a secret lair with millions of ward spells cast

Don't tell me he's passing notes to the DM because it'd be more notes than talking
>>
We replaced him and didn't tell him about it.
>>
>>21981325
He's cheating, haste doesn't work like he thinks it does.
>>
>>21987386
>>21983296

Clearly you both haven't played any half-assed caster before.

There are plenty of options to get extra effects/actionslike he did. The metamagic he used also did multiple targeting and in addition contingencies applied intelligently can do everything he did automatically anyways. Belt of battle also can burn charges for more and there's always that fun level 9 spell time stop.
