Nobody could play yesterday, so lets see if we have some more luck today.

There are three obvious dungeons for the party to go to. The first is the Castle of Gygar, where Bargle and his Ogre bodyguards still wait for someone to claim the bounty on his head. The second is the Pyramid of Cynidicea, where only the first two floors have been fully explored, leaving at least three more to go through (plus any underground levels). Finally, there's an old ruin in the forests southeast of Mistamere, where the Neanderthals say ghouls lurk.

The three of you (or more if some guys show up?) have heard other adventurers in town talking about their discovery of the Great Pyramid of Cynidicea, out in the desert to the northwest. Given all the loot they've been finding, you think it might be worth exploring the place as well...

Okay, looks like you're all pretty well sorted

As you move through the city ruins you see a large pyramid, the one building not buried beneath the sand. It has five levels, though the bottom one is half buried, and a grand stairway leading up to the top. There, you see three bronze statues, one a woman with a sword and a sheaf of wheat, one a man with a lightning bolt and a set of scales, and one a winged child with a wand and entwined in snakes

I would like to examine the states further, do I neeed to roll anything for that?

I anm looking for:
Unusual markings, an altar maybe, perhaps a brazier where incense is usually burned...

Or are they just..y'know statues?
>>
>>22011886
Pack B and two daggers, then.
>>
>>22011993
Unarmored as well.
>>
>>22011986
They do look a bit odd, in that there seem to be seams around the joints of their arms, as though they could move. Their mouths also look dark, like they're the opening to some tube

Just to the left of the stairway, you see a stone door slid inward, held open with a metal spike
>>
>>22012019
Examining the door, do I notice anything from the other end?
>>
>>22012019
Oky I'm going to stand way the fuck back and start poking the ground with my ten foot pole. Those statues are clearly weapons of some sort, there has to be a trigger around here somewhere.

Oh and what does that spike look like? Is it on a hinge or something?
>>
>>22012040
There's a skeleton of some kind of humanoid, probably a hobgoblin, with a crossbow bolt through its chest.
20 feet past the entrance, you see the path turns left.

The spike has been hammered into the ground fairly recently, given that it's not gone rusty.
Poking at the ground doesn't set off any traps.
>>
>>22012073
>>22012019
Well then, I'm heading through that door. Might be some goodies.
>>
>>22012073
>>22012093
>Following Guy, keeping shield at the ready.
>>
>>22012093
Heading in you see that at the end of the path is a niche in the wall with some mechanisms. Probably the crossbow trap that killed the hobgoblin was there, but has since been looted.
After the path turns north, there is another door spiked open after 20 feet
>>
>>22012118

Choo choo motherfucker. We're going through that door.
>>
>>22012135
This room is 40 foot square, with three bronze tubes in the middle. They're wide enough for a man to stand inside, and have doors on the front. The middle one is spattered with brown dried blood, and in front of the left one is an open pit
>>
are you using b/x or advanced?
>>
>>22012160
b/x
>>
>>22012156
I move up and look down into the put. What's in there?
>>
>>22012156
Dried blood no es bueno. Examining, but not touching the bloody door.
>>
>>22012181
You see a few dead beetles, and some ladders heading down into the room from the tubes
>>
>>22012191
Well, it has a door handle. Not much to say about it really
>>
>>22012213
can I open that door with my pole?
>>
>>22012239
It pulls outwards so no. You could open it with soem rope, though
>>
>>22012244
Anyone have an iron spike and some rope?
>>
>>22012261
I have twelve Iron Spikes and some rope.

Imma tie my hemp rope to the door handle, get to a safe location and try to open the door via the tried and true method of yanking on the rope.
>>
>>22010594

>>
>>22012365

>>22012421

>>
>>22012421

>>
And yeah, the early bits are going to be a bit dull, I'm just going to shepard you along to the parts which the other players haven't already cleared.
>>
>>22012439
They reset those darts? Hm. Maybe we shouldn't of given them. Ah well, live and learn.

>>
>>22012407
Aren't the goodies in pyramids usually down?
>>
>>22012489
Usually, but the bottom floor is full of sand, isn't it?
>>
Alright, caught up. You just want me to jump in whenever?
>>
>>22012439
Okay noted, and now I'm glad I made certain to buy trap triggering equipment.

anyway I'm cool with going up stairs now that we've triggered the other dart traps...

Oh wait. I'd like to use a dagger or one of those darts to chisel a message in the wall next to this chamber's entrance.

"Beware of Dart Traps, they are triggered when you open the door."
>>
>>22012525
Yep. Happy for you to just show up now
>>
>>22012532
You're able to scratch a message into the rock, if someone's looking for something like that they should be able to find it
>>
>>22012552
Good enough, hopefully that'll help someone out in the future.

Okay I'm going to climb up the ladder of one of those rooms, presumably the rest of the party will follow me, or I'll follow the party. Whatever lets move on.
>>
>>22012532
Good thinking.
>>
>>22012579
Climbing up takes you into a small chamber, filled with levers and mechanisms. There is also a tube with a flared opening, at about face level. Most of them look fairly rusted, and are probably broken
>>
>>22012580
Thanks, I'm going to try and do that with every trap we encounter so even if our characters die the next ones will have a better shot at surviving the pyramid.
>>
>>22012579
Following.
>>
>>22012598
Since you're at the top of the pyramid, you think that this chamber must be inside one of the statues

>>22012619
each chamber can only fit one person.
>>
>>22012598
Well that doesn't look like a trap at ALL!

Are there any exits to this chamber or is it a "pull the right lever and continue, pull the wrong one and die" dealy?
>>
>>22012629
You don't see any exits. And if there were, they would only lead back outside
>>
>>22012624
Well then... looks like we're going to need to try out some of those levers. Any of them look used recently?
>>
>>22012624
Oh well never mind...

I leave the chamber and let Guy Theft enter it so he can look for traps. Thbis is probably just one of those "give me money" scams that priests ued to pull but it can't hurt.
>>
>>22012649
No, not for centuries

And you could also climb the ladders down, into the chamber below.
>>
>>22012661
I'll climb down the central chamber. Do I see anything? Can I see anything?
>>
>>22012656
>>22012661
Right then. Trap checkan.
>>
>>22012656
He doesn't detect any

>>22012687
If you have a light, you can see that down here are a few dead giant beetles. The room is 40 foot square, and there are three exits: one east, one northwest, and one southwest. The path from the ladders to the southwest exit has been disturbed a great deal, as though there's a lot of traffic that way
>>
>>22012687
You see a bulky man in white robes looking at the various pots and machinery in the room, turning to face you after hearing your approach. "Oh, hello. Other adventurers I assume? Or hope, anyway." Exposed metal is seen from the edges of the robes, showing armor.
>>
>>22012720
I've got a torch. And I apparently saw Alvaro down there?
>>
>>22012755
Yep
>>
>>22012720
Well now I wish I'd brought some manner of lubricant. I guess I'll go back into the chamber and Pull a Lever.
>>
>>22012760
Ileen's off doing stuff with the Gormites, not bringing him. Zon and Sol are with Alvaro however. Gonna take two heals, and a bless.
>>22012774
Oil might work, although its kind of flammable. I got some you can use if you wish.
>>
>>22012760
"Other adventurers? Yes, I'm traveling with some companions. Who are you, if I might ask?"
>>
>>22012720
Time to go down, then. Say hello to the new guy.
>>22012728
Why aren't you dead?
>>
>>22012774
You pull on the lever, and with some effor manage to get it to move. You hear the sound of metal grinding against metal just outside. You think the statue you're in just moved
>>
>>22012788
"Alvaro, priest and cleric of the luminescent sun, at your service." The man says with a bow. "I was with some companions as well, although seems they've wandered off without me, or are doing things else where."

>>22012803
My god empowers me! I honestly have no fucking clue, with all I've fought. A shit ton of luck.
>>
>>22012828
"Well what do you say to wandering around with us until we find your companions? It seems we're going to need to be careful with any fire around these statues for a while."
>>
>>22012850
Alvaro thinks on it for a bit, before nodding. "Sounds agreeable to me. This place is rather dangerous, and it would do me bad to just let others wander it without helping them. You'll have my aid."
>>
File: 1355350420223.png-(309 KB, 482x530, D&D Lost City Tier 2.png)
309 KB
I'm assuming Alvaro tells you about what he's seen so far. Here's the map of level 2, as you see, the stairway down is to the southwest
>>
>>22012821
Hmm Guess we'll just have to to put someone outside and screw around with the levers later.

>>22012785
A kind offer and one worth trying good sir but It's best if we shelve this idea for later methinks.

>>22012821
So yeah, I descend the Ladder with my stuff. Once I reach the bottom I set my pole aside and light a torch, if anyone is lacking in torches I hand them one. (that include Alvaro though I assume he has one.)

I am a appear to be a fairly non-descript human male. Except my skin is burgandy in color I have red eyes and grey hair. I am wearing battered but servicable chainmail, I have a shield with a red starburst on it, a polished helmet with some brass decorations (small serpents) and a servicable if bland looking bastard sword.
>>
So, the obvious action is to go down those stairs, to the level which isn't yet full explored and looted
>>
>>22012897
Alvaro does indeed share all he knows about this place. (Can be seen in the Google Doc, under Lost City. Basic run down though is Second floor clear, third floor not but houses the various faiths of people here, fourth floor trapped and with undead, fifth floor sort of explored, undercity not even touched. You can get to the fifth floor from a dilapidated brothel outside the pyramid.)
>>22012958
Yeah, there isn't much to do on the second floor, unless you want to talk with the Followers of Gorm.
>>
>>22012958
"I say gentlemen, unless someone feels like stabbing someone else in the back it is probably in our best interests to delve deeper." Having stated that I will tie a torch to my 10 Foot Pole and head to the unexplored level.
>>
>>22013001
Alvaro follows, attaching his war mask to his helmet. "If by some strange chance you brought a mask, I'd suggest wearing it. The people here all wear masks."
>>
File: 1355351032464.png-(338 KB, 916x797, D&D Lost City Tier 3 Map.png)
338 KB
You come down to a 30 foot long corridor which turns east, then after a while north again and comes to a door
>>
>>22013001
"Indeed. Let's get a move on." Ragnar follows Fell.

Since we're describing characters, Ragnar is a fairly young man, trimmed Machiavellian beard and a long nose. He's wearing piecemeal armor made of various battered and scarred banded plates, a simple open-faced helmet with a large dent in one side. His shield is just as battered and seemingly scrubbed of a symbol resembling two black lions holding a crown, and he wears a bastard sword whose pommel looks as though it once held a gemstone or decoration. It was an eagle's head. He sold it to a dwarf.
>>
>>22013026
"I am afraid I do not have a mask, though I'll be certain to invest in one at the next possible opportuinity." I'll keep my Torch-Pole out ahead of me in the hopes it will draw an attack or something.
How does that door open? Does it need to be pushed or pulled? If it needs to be pulled could someone tie their rope or my rope to the handle so we can pull it open?
>>
>>22013027
>>22013036
"Up ahead, there's a rotating corridor. There's symbols, that when pressed will rotate the room. We've so far only tried one of the eight symbols."
>>22013090
"I doubt it will be a problem, just that if you don't wish to stick out I'd suggest a mask." He comments. "Far as I know, that door shouldn't be trapped."
>>
>>22013001
"As long as we find some goods." Guy grumbles, hitching up his pack and following along.

He's not the most beautiful thing. Hooked nose. Greasy black hair that hangs a bit longer than normal. Brown, bloodshot eyes. Rather unfriendly smile. His attire is no more than a pair of heavily stitched sacks.

"Is it worth nickin' one of those masks?"
>>
>>22013119
Note to self: get a mask.
>>
>>22013147
"You can probably ask them for one, they may have spares. Although if you really need one, I do have a spare I can let you have. If we find any cultists of Zargon though, don't wear their masks. That will probably draw some fire from the followers here, as they might confuse you for them."
>>
So, open the door and enter the revolving room?
>>
"Oh, well in that case we might as well forget the formalities."

Fell opens the door after leaning the Torch-Pole against the wall. With the door open he picks up the torch-pole and enters the next room with the torch held out at least 5 feet ahead of him.

Alright. Me and the party went to the west before, you guys can check it out but nothing notable there besides some friendly, but eccentric followers. Everywhere else we haven't been. The chamber rotates allowing you to head to the east. There is a door after 30 feet, and beyond it you hear women's voices

What do they sound like they're saying?

"Odd setting for people of a feminine persuasion."

"Odd as in "wears pants on her head?" Or Odd as in "Believe bathing in the blood of young girls makes her more beautiful?" Fell glances at the door nervously. "Most stories I hear about men interacting with female warriors tend to end in slaughter or rape and I'd like to avoid both."
>>
>>22013449
"They probably won't let us in their temple, but I doubt they'll be cruel. Their god is one of change, and of the guardian, if I remember right."
>>22013474
"Odd as in the leader of the followers of Gorm, followers of the god of justice, honor, and strength, called her 'blood thirsty.'"
>>
>>22013506
"I doubt they'll attack us, as they probably heard of my group trying to help them fight the Lost Ones, and the followers of the Dark One. As far as they're concerned, we have the same goal I believe, to free Cynidicea of this evil."
>>
>>22013506
"Sounds like my kind of woman. Anyway, I suppose we should be on our best behavior, then?"
>>
>>22013506
"Well lets avoid making her angry then." Fell sighs heavily and takes a step forward, turning around to look at the rest of the party. "So, who gets to speak to the Ladies of War first?"

I have 14 charisma, does anyone have a higher bonus than that? I think the person with the highest Cha should knock on the door.
>>
>>22013542
I don't, but I think I might be known a bit here, since I've met the other two groups. Then again, the groups don't much like each other, in a "they don't know what's best for Cynidicea" kind of way.
>>
>>22013542
Good luck
>>
>>22013542
>>22013599
"Fell, try and make peace. Alvaro, would you kindly back him up? Pull some strings, should things get a bit hairy in there?"
>>
So Fell knocks on the door?
>>
Alright I knock on the door with the butt of my torch. Upon the people inside opening the door I will say something to the effect of "Greetings I am Fell, these are my associates Guy, Ragnar, and I believe you recognize Alvaro as his group aided yours in combat with some cultists. Could we perhaps speak with someone who has some measure of authority in your group?"
>>
>>22013655
Knocking on the door, it is opened. You see a woman in chain mail with a green cloak and a bronze mask of a female face. She looks at you uncomprehending, turns and says something in her languages, and hearing a reply opens the door. The room ahead is forty feet square, with a large table in the middle. Around it are seated nine women, wearing similar uniforms of chainmail and green cloaks with bronze masks. One of them is tall, strong looking, and clearly a few month's pregnant. She stands and says "You are outlanders. You are men. Why have you come here?"

"Well that is an interesting question. I for one am here in the hopes of gaining a little fame and glory at removing offensive presences such as dark cults (they worship an enormous eye back home,) Goblins, Kobolds, or similar nuisances." Fell Turns to Ragnar, Guy, and Alvaro. "Does anyone disagree with that assesment?"
>>
>>22013798
"Sounds about right. As long as it leads to gold."
>>
>>22013798
"Not from I. The followers of Zargon's foul presence should be smote from this place."
>>
>>22013798
"Goblins? Cults?" She laughs loudly. "You are killers! Good. Many down here need killing. They wear masks with one eye, and a horn. Worshippers of the Dark One. Their blood will water the flower of Cynidicea!" The repeats the last two sentances in her own language, and the women cheer.
>>
>>22013833
"Good! It seems we share a common goal, then."
>>
>>22013828
On hearing that name, the women lift their masks slightly and spit on the floor.
>>
>>22013848
"Yes. They are below. Past the tomb floor, they rule. Deeper and deeper down, to the pit of hell where the Dark One dwells"
>>
"Well Fair Ladies I can't say I'm familar with the name Zargon" Fell inmitates the women by spitting in a corner. "But I think it is fair to say that myself and the men I represent would be more than happy to kill in the name of your cause. Let me be upfront though, I am unwilling to kill pregnant women, children, or other apparent innocents without good reason." Fell lays his shield down on the ground. "If your mission does not involve such deeds I am more than happy to negotiate fair wages for the removal of Zargon Cultists" Turn head, spit in corner, "and any other undesirables you see fit to have killed."
>>
>>22013939
"There are no innocents amongst the dark ones. The only possible innocents would be the lost ones, and even then they are rather possibly beyond redemption."
>>
>>22013939
"They are not innocent. They destroyed our city, and feed its people to their dark god. They hold many of its treasures. Anything you take from them, is rightful spoils of war"
>>
>>22013988
>>22013969
"Oh well that makes things easy. Alvaro, you know the "Dark Ones" how much loot are we likely to pull in on this mission?"
>>
>>22013988
Guy perks up at that. "Treasure, eh? Spoils? My kinda talk. Where can we find these things, exactly?"
>>
>>22014039
"Considering that they control the entire undercity, as far as I know? Who knows. Probably a good bit, since they reduced the once great Cynidicea to its current state."
>>
>>22013988
"Is there anything in particular among what the Dark Ones have stolen that you'd like to see returned?"
>>
>>22014058
"Down below. There are two ways, the tunnel, or go straight down through tombs."
>>
>>22014075
Behind the mask you see her eyes harden. "Everything. This is our city. We will rule again."
>>
>>22014084
"Aren't the tombs filled with traps and undead? My group offered that we would help in trying to clear a path from the fourth floor to the undercity, so as to help the followers here." Alvaro offers.
>>
>>22014146
"Yes. If a path through could be made, we could suprise the dark ones. The way down is north, then take the right path."
>>
>>22014106
Well this sucks. Bastards just up and overthrew their nice little city here, didn't they?

"Thank you for your assistance. I promise to do anything I can to help you achieve your goal."

Ragnar turns to the others.
"Sounds like things are stacked against us."
>>
>>22014201
Alvaro shrugs. "What's new?"
>>
>>22014216
Ragnar lets out a deep laugh. "Too true."
>>
>>22014146
>>22014171
"Well we have a Th-" Fell pauses and scowls before shaking his head. "Professional Locksmith and Trap Tinkerer, two warriors and a cleric. I think we can handle undead and traps." Fell turns to regard Alvaro, Guy, and Ragnar. "So what do you say gentlemen? Shall we seek fame and fortune in these dark halls?"
>>
>>22014235
"Its my life duty to fight the darkness for the sun, how could I refuse?"
>>
>>22014235
"Pretty sure undead make me break out in a rash...but fortune sounds nice enough."
>>
>>22014235
Ragnar adjusts his shield and sword before loosening up his shoulder.
"I didn't cross three mountains and a desert for nothing. You have my sword and shield." He pats Guy on the shoulder. "Don't worry brother, you stick close to Fell and I and we'll see you through. Alvaro? I envy your duty. And I'm glad to have you as our guide."
>>
So where to?
>>
>>22014307
>>22014299
>>22014258
"Ah don't worry Guy Ragnar and I will make certain you come out fine." Fell pats the shorter man on the shoulder before turning to Alvaro and Ragnar. "So I do believe we have this matter settled. so shall we venture into the breach or is there anything we need to do before setting out? I'd hate to return to The Cage empty handed."
>>
>>22014359
To the north, down a right path, and into a tomb, I believe.
>>
>>22014307
"Thank you. Hm, we can either take the path to the fifth floor, or try to clear out the fourth. I'm fine with either, although the fourth will be filled with trap. If you all feel up to it, I'll help how I can."
>>

No, not quite. They look like the face on the Statue of Madarua

Heading back into the revolving corridor and turning it north, you come to a long corridor. Turning right you eventually come to a door leading south
>>
>>22014423
I say we take the 4th floor, there'll be beasts and such but I don't think its anything we can't handle.

Oh hey OP, can I cover my sword in pitch soaked rags taken from some ofd my torches and light it up? I mean it'd probably go out fairly quickly but I think it'd be a good weapon against undead.
>>
>>22014510
Sure
>>
>>22014510
+1 from me. I've done this in previous campaigns to good effect.

DM: Is this door leading south ajar, or does it look like we're going to have to pry it open?
>>
>>22014552
>>22014510
Before we go down...

"May the sun bless us with its rays, and guide our hands against its enemies. May the dark always quiver at our step, and its foul machinations come to naught at our gaze." Castan' bless with my gold holy symbol, enjoy +1 to attack and damage for two hours.
>>
>>22014587
Oops, one hour, not two.
>>
>>22014583
It's got a handle, you should be able to just pull it open with no problem
>>
>>22014552
Okay I take a torch from my back pack, using a knife from my boot (most people in middle ages used knives for eating and other such tasks) I sever the pitch soaked rags of the torch and tie them to the blade of my bastard sword. Using the knife I also apply any extra pitch left on the stick to apply it to my sword, then I set it on fire.
>>
So do these women usually fight while preggers, or was that the crazy one?
>>22014510
>setting something in your hand on fire
You're the crazy one.
>>
>>22014583
Cool, flame might go out on the first blow but it should give me an extra edge of some sort.

"I have more torches if anyone would like to use the same trick."

Oh and would guy be so kind as to check the door fo traps?
>>
>>22014622
Yep, that was their leader
>>
>>22014662
He doesn't notice any.
>>
>>22014662
"I've got some of my own, but would you mind if I borrowed your dagger to do it?"
>>
>>22014673
I still suggest trying to open it with a ten foot pole/use rope. I got rope if need be.
>>
>>22014719
"Go right ahead." Fell hands Ragnar a small blade made of iron, the handle appears to be made of bone and bears a design that resembles a ring surrounded by stylized demons and gods. When Ragnar is done Fell returns the knife to its holster in his boot and opens the southern door. He keeps his torch-Sword out ahead of him and his shield at the ready.

Doing so, you see a 30 foot by 40 foot room. It's full of smashed stone items. The walls are covered in cynidicean letters, and and an image of an oval with a single horn and a single eye.
In the far end of the room, a 20 foot by 10 foot section is seperated from the rest of the floor.
>>
>>22014821
Ragnar takes the blade and cuts himself a torchpith blanket to wrap around his sword while looking at Alvaro and Guy.
"If you tie some rope to the door, we could pull it open from a safe distance. Its not much, but its worked before."
After tying the blade, he hands Fell the dagger by the blade, offering the hilt.
"That's a mighty nice blade, friend."
>>
>>22014872
Alvaro stares at the image of the eye and horn, face obscured by his glaring sun war mask. "This looks like the masks they wear. Assume everyone wearing this kind of thing hostile, and very vile."
>>
>>22014872
I'll wander up and take a closer look at that section of the room.
>>
>>22014884
"Thanks, they're fairly common in Sigil. Hawkers sell them to foriegners as souvineers."
>>22014872

In retrospect I should've used the rope. Oh well have Guy check the room for traps, Maybe poke that seperated section with the 10 Foot Pole I've got tied to my pack. (maybe it snaps together?)
>>
>>22014929
"Gotcha." Ragnar inspects some of the stone items before ushering for Fell to poke around with his staff.
>>
Poking around the room, you find that if you put pressure on the east end of the section of floor, it starts to slope downwards. You think if there's enough weight on it, it would be a ramp going down
>>
>>22015022
>>22014929
"If It looks like a Cyclops stab the Berk, got it."

Fell gathers up shattered stone items and places them on the pressure plate until enough weight is gathered to create a ramp, while he does this he searches for anything of value, like a mask, or some coin or something.
>>
>>22015022
"Hm..."

The ramp leads down to a 30 foot square room. A small coffin, child sized, lies in a niche in the east wall, and you can see two bronze jars in the east corners.
>>
>>22015145
Coffin---maybe treasure? Checkan for traps.
>>
>>22015145
Fell pokes around the room looking for traps, when this action is finished he pokes each of the bronze jars in the hopes of seeing if they rattle. For the moment he leaves the coffin alone.

"Five gets you Ten there's something nasty inside that coffin."
>>
>>22015145
"Well then." Ragnar inspects the jars. Does the coffin sport the same cyclopean design?
>>
>>22015145
Alvaro follows the others down, looking around. "Hm. This is a tomb, I would be worried if there aren't coffins around. But be careful, and be sure to not desecrate what we don't have to, this place has undead."
>>
>>22015190
Heading into the room, you see there are bronze jars in the west corners as well. The walls show a little man singing, juggling, capering, and performing magic tricks before a king and queen.
You move up to inspect the coffin, and BANG! The lit bursts off.
A wooden head, grinning wildly, is launched up and bounces up and down on a spring. Apart from that there is nothing inside the coffin but ashes

>>22015208
No.
>>
>>22015259
"Looks like we know what happened to the court jester. He went up in flames."
>>
>>22015259
Fell Detaches the head from the spring and places it in his back pack. "We can put it on a pole and use it to try and trick some of the less intelligent monsters out there."
>>
>>22015259
Guy falls backward, clutching his eyes. "OH GOOD GODS IT HAS ME, IT'S IN ME FLESH, TEARIN' ME-" he creaks open a finger.

"…hilarious..." he gets up and dusts himself off.
>>
>>22015259
Alvaro sighs. "At least it was harmless..."
>>
>>22015323
"Real hilarious." Ragnar rolls his eyes and carefully inspects the jars on the western wall.
>>
>>22015383
The jars appear empty
>>
"Anyone else think there's more to this room?"
>>
>>22015397
"Hm. Suppose we carry on then? Be sure to remember, this floor is filled with many traps."

Can the door be opened with a rope, or ten foot pole?
>>
>>22015397

Yes, the door can be pushed open with a 10 foot pole
There's a corridor heading off west. After 40 feet, there's a side path turning north, and after 20 feet there are corridors heading east and west from there as well as another door heading north
>>
Do the jars have a handle of some sort? How much do they weigh? Could I fill oone with Flammable oil and pitch from one of my torches so it could help us in combat?
>>
>>22015467
They're fairly large jars, about 2 feet tall.
>>
>>22015464
"So, which way to we want to go? North, or further west? I would say north myself, I don't like leaving doors behind me unchecked."
>>
>>22015525
"I'm going to have to agree with that sentiment. Besides, it'd be such a waste!"
>>
>>22015525
"We might as well go north then. Worst case scenario we end up finding another empty room."

Fell spikes the door behind them and places a single jar next to the door. He leaves the wooden head inside of that jar.

"What? It'll look nice in my mother's den."

"I say good sir would you be interested in purchasing some torches?" Fell readies his sword and steps into the room. He slams his word against his shield and tries to make as big a spectacle of himself as possible by bashing his pommel against his shield and singing a particularly bawdy drinky song he learned in a Sigilian pub.

Ahhh, shit.
>>
>>22016356
"Yikes. Occupied."
>>
>>22016369
That guy from A Song of Ice and Fire who just wears bits of human skeletons

>>22016375
You can get some crappy old shortswords. Or a reasonable old polearm
>>
>>22016356
"Hm. Nothing magical here, but seems to be some good armor. Assuming its wearer isn't still alive... I'd remove its weapon quickly, just in case."
>>
>>22016389
Polearms ho! Ragnar yanks the halberd from the suit of armor.
>>
>>22016433
The suit of armour falls to the ground with a clang as you yank the halberd from its grasp
>>
>>22016389
huh, never read that series so I'm afraid I wouldn't get the reference. My guy's from sigil so he's probably pretty morbid. Plus...skulls are cool.

Anyway he takes the skulls, uses his knives to carefully chip away the face part so that it can be used as a mask. He carefully grinds in some holes and uses a pair of leather thongs to secure it to his face (after carefully cleaning it of course.)

He does much the same for 4 more skulls and secures one pair to his knees and one pair to his shoulders. With that done he approaches the suit of armor and begins breaking it down for transport.

"He certainly doesn't need it anymore."

This is how they showed him in the TV show, though I imagined him having a lot more bones than this
>>
>>22016477
"Glad to see that isn't coming back too. I'd suggest taking the armor, and wearing it if its better than your own." Alvaro comments to the group, faintly tapping the helmet of the armor.
>>
>>22016502
Guy watches him work, grumbling some more about crazy.
>>
>>22016502
Taking it apart you find that it was worn by a corpse. It seems to be dried out and fairly well preserved, like a mummy
>>
>>22016502
"That's... Fairly morbid friend." Alvaro comments.
>>
>>22016477
Ragnar keeps the polearm handy, placing his sword back in its scabbard.
>>22016535
"It seems Fell has plans for the man's armor." He performs a small gesture over the bones and kisses the first knuckle of his right hand as he walks away. "A warrior gone, but not forgotten."
>>
As you work on taking the armour apart, four men with gilded masks of a bearded man and blue tabards look into the room. Seeing Alvaro, they nod a greeting and head off to the south
>>
>>22016528
Something like that I guess, you could actually make pretty servicable armor from bone and leather, I mean there are A LOT of small bones in the human body. I guess I'll take off chainmail and replace it with the fullplate if no one has any objections.

While I'm at it I'll use my knife and some leather thongs to create a sort of bone tabard out of stuff like hand, foot, finger, toe, rib, and vetrabrae to decorate ver armor I'm wearing. Might as well steal a good idea.
>>
>>22016601
Ragnar looks back at Alvaro.
"More denizens of the dungeon? Your acquaintances, I'd wager?"
>>
>>22016601
"Oi, Al, what was that about?"
>>
>>22016601
Alvaro gives them a happy wave. "Nice to see some followers of Gorm here. Odd that they're down here though... Their leader said they don't usually come down here. Hm." He shrugged.
>>
>>22016627
>>22016618
"Followers of Gorm, good people. They follow strength, justice, and honor. The most sane people I've met here to be honest."
>>
>>22016564
"If it makes you feel any better I don't intend to mess with the former owner of the armor, just wear his guardians. Oh and this? This isn't morbid. I knew a guy who'd skin anything he killed. Anything, walked around for 4 years wearing a dwarf, an elf and two gnomes."
>>
>>22016677
"... Right." Alvaro comments. "It doesn't bother me much, I'm mostly baffled as to why they still bury corpses and then wonder why they have so much undead. Where I'm from, we burn our dead, half so that they might find their way unto the sun's realm, and half so that their body may not be a container for evil magics."
>>
Anyway, you can go west, south then west, east, or east then turn north
>>
>>22016677
Ragnar shuddered. He remembered a former... acquaintance... who'd worn a ring of human fingers around his neck, taking one from every person and child he'd killed. He was a surgeon with an axe. Shame he was crushed by a dragon. Poor, crazy bastard.

>>22016665
>>22016672
"Sounds interesting. Wonder what they've got going on down here. With all the undead that are supposedly about."
>>
>>22016730
East then north?
>>
>>22016754
>>22016766
"I'd like to see where the followers of Gorm went. Maybe they need to do something down here we can help with?"
>>
>>22016703
"Y'know there's actually a religious order that takes care of the dead where I'm from? They collect corpses, magically reanimate 'em and use them for Labor.

But yeah you have a point. Can't raise a burned corpse... well most of the time." Fell pulls on the full plate, which is now decorated with a combination of skulls, ribs, vertabrae, toe bones, finger bones, foot bones, shoulder blades and other assorted bits.

I say we follow Alvaro, he's been down here before after all.

That path sends you around a long corridor which eventually turns south, and after 80 feet ends in a door
>>
>>22016813
Any sign of the Gorms?
>>
>>22016846
No, you think they went to the ramp going back upstairs
>>
>>22016804
Actually, we've never been down to the fourth floor. We've avoided it because we had other things to do, such as help the Followers of Usamigarious/however her/his name is spelled find a courier for them.
>>22016813
Can the door be opened by rope/ten foot pole? This place is supposedly trapped to hell and back and I'm not seeing any traps.
>>
>>22016862
Which worries me.
>>
>>22016862
well I have a rope and a pole so I'm more than happy to use either on that door.

and yeah there's a surprising surfiet of traps here.
>>
>>22016862
Yep. Yanking it open you see a room with a raised 10 foot square dais, with a sarcophagus on top of it. At each corner of the dais is a slender six foot clay column, supporting an arched dome above the sarcophagus. At each end of the sarcophagus is a brass jar with flames burning above them. The walls are painted with images of a noblewoman singing, playing musical instruments, weaving, and other such activities

Yes, it seems to be reacting to the flames in this room
>>
>>22016987
Oh well, nevermind. I suppose I'll try messing with the sarcophagus.
>>
Fell steps into the room and begins poking the ground with his pole. He also pokes the dias and the firey jars. "Anyone else worried by the lack of traps? It's a universal law or something that there be traps in tombs. Deadly ones."
>>
>>22017015
"Anyone feeling brave enough to open that sarcophagus?"
>>
>>22017024
It looks like it could open fairly easily
>>
>>22017037
Easily enough for a 10-foot pole to push over?
>>
>>22017015
Good catch. Was wondering why the fire was still going... Alvaro checks out the fire. Anything noticeable with a closer inspection? What color is the flask glowing?
>>
>>22017025
You notice a small scroll tube behind one of the jars
The jars themselves are mortared into the dais
>>
>>22017051
Yes. Doing so doesn't set off any traps, and within is a mummy with its wrappings torn open. Evidently this room has already been found by tomb robbers

>>22017055
fire colour?
>>
>>22017084
Hm. Anything about the brass jars? I'm guessing that's making the fire float, if I read it right and it is indeed floating.
>>

Any trace of something left behind, aside from the scroll?

About that scroll: what's it say?

>>
>>22017154
"Shouldn't be too hard seeing as we have a map."

Onward for adventure!
>>
>>22017140
"Hmm, maybe the trapdoor is a trap in itself?" Fell shrugs and the bones that decorate his armor clatter a lttle bit. "Whatever it seems we have a clear path forward."
>>
>>22017208
So out the door to the west? Which way from there?
>>
>>22017217
I'd bet on checking out that door to the north, then the next one down (mapwise)
>>
>>22017217
I say we should visit the door to the west, and try to door to the north, first, before we head to the trapdoor. Its on the way, kind of.

Well I for one am ready to end the quest if no one objects, we leave the dungeon and start up again whenever?

>>22017771

>>
>>22017771
"So thats... 1 Emerald per person with 75 GP for each member of the party unless I miss my guess." Says Fell after much muttering to himself upon clawing the gold pieces and digging through the muck for any treaure that may have been lost.
>>
>>22017784
It continues onwards almost all the way to the corridor where you first came in (after the jester's tomb), but that end is full of rubble and debris. You could clear it out if you wanted a shortcut
>>
>>22017799
Yep. 75gp, and a 500gp Emerald each.

>>
>>22017826
Yeah, pretty much
>>
>>22017808
Fell gets started on clearing away the rubble so that any future party can have an easier way through the tunnel, but only after chiseling "Alvaro, Guy, Fell, and Ragnar were here." into the side of the wall.
>>
>>22017826
That would be the smart thing, yes. The Usamigaras won't talk of it because Gormites would be pissed as hell at them, so its in their favor to help you keep it a secret too.

My opinion, if you're asked try to shift blame onto the cultists of Zargon or Lost ones. They'll believe you, probably.
>>
Oh, by the way your character sheets are on page 14 of the documents. I haven't filled in your inventories, so can you do that for me?
Also, in future I usually have players fill in their own XP (and GP, though that come after the loot all gets divided up). Otherwise it slows the game down a lot when I have to do the book keeping for everyone
>>
>>22017846
Fell, you still here? I saw that you picked cleric, I wrote a little guide for first level cleric spells at the bottom of the google docs if you want to give it a check. Its a bit TL;DR though, so sorry about that.
