K.A. Applegate made some very, VERY /tg/ friendly material when you think about it. Animorphs, that one where the space shuttle contains the last humans, the Everworld series... woman knows her stuff
>>

I need to watch animorphs at some point... wait, is it a show or a book?
>>
>>22031469
It's a series of like 40something books.
There was also an attempt at a tv series made but it was fucking awful.

IIRC K A Applegate specifically designed some of the monster descriptions to annoy people who might want to make a TV adaptation.
>>
>>22031453
Sure was grimdark as fuck, though.
>>
>>22031448
Applegate got away with a LOT of shit. Everworld was even more blatant, rife with sexual sadism and all sorts of other oddness.

Yeah Ax did specifically. He managed to create a human form of some sort by mixing the kid's DNA together, that at least was the implication.

and the girl... Rachel? and that guy... Marco?

They both wound up with wierd useless mutations caused by emotional issues.

I was thinking of having a human user who for some reason, mental trauma, genius, whatever who always created wierd mix&Match creatures when he morphed.

No idea, I quit somewhere around the one where they infiltrate Area 51 because I was a poor fag and my local library stopped buying them. Now that I think about it Applegate got away with a lot of "questionable" material for a kid's book.

eh anyway.

So lets say you decided to do a game in the Animorph's universe.

We had cosmic entities who were playing some form of game a sI recall, the Yeerks and the Andalites... any other cosmic level conflicts PCs could get involved in?
>>
>>22032012
They never did, from what I remember, except for Tobias once he gets the morphing power back
>>
>>22031992
Well, I think the game would have to be broken down into having various templates--Flying, Strong, Predator, Prey, Small, Large..things like that, and they would all modify a base statline.

Obviously it would make duplicates, but hey, what more do you want?
>>

Animorphs introduced me to fan fiction. And then to erotic fan fiction. Not that I sought it out myself, but along with me there were three nerdy girls in 8th grade who were Animorphs friends. Okay so Andalites crashland on Earth somewhere in the 50s to late 70s.

They wind up in Asia or the middle-east all the Andalites are either dead or there's one or two of them still alive. (depending on whether or not you have andalite players) Natives, Tourists, Insurgeants, or American GIs, possibly a combination of the four stumble upon the crashed craft, but not before the local warlord loots it and over looks a small, glowing blue cube.

The rest of the game is spent fighting a psychotic warlord backed by Ex-Nazi scientists and Soviet money who use retroengineered alien technology to fight elements of the US Government/Opress the native peoples.

would you play this campaign?

But jesus fuck, the Howlers were fucking insanely powerful. ONE of them turned the entire Animorph crew into mincemeat without even trying, and the only reason they survived was because Erek was organising them and let them escape.

I never understood why Jake didn't continue using that Howler morph. It's so much more devastating than any of the other morphs they had (even the temporary T-Rex ones) that it'd be like pushing the win button.

>mfw I read the wikipedia page on this and it talks about how Tolkien influenced Applegate

> One of the author's favorite books, The Lord of the Rings, lent several words and images to Animorphs: the elvish word for Orc, "yrch", became Yeerk; the flaming red Eye of Sauron inspired the Crayak, and Ax's middle name, "Esgarrouth", is based on a town in the books called Esgaroth. The human name of Ax's brother, Elfangor, is Alan Fangor and his last name is in reference to the Fangor region or Fangorn Forest. Also there was a minor reference to Gondor, in the form of a fictional company named "Gondor Industries" in the 14th book. (It may also be significant that Visser Three's host is named Alloran, a rough homonym of Gandalf's Valinorean name "Olórin", and that one of the minor alien races is called "the Five", which is also a term used in The Lord of the Rings for the Istari.)

Animorphs covered a lot of subjects, not the least of which being the sheer brutality of the acts that insurgents have to perform out of necessity but the Yeerks would have been noticed after 9/11 thanks to the almost dystopian security measures we've come to accept as a part of every day life.

I mean think about, lets say you waled up to some guy in 1991 and told him that we would have cameras on intersections in american cities that record the license plates of people who run red lights in the near future. They wouldn't believe you.

The Ellimist and Crayak.

Interesting story, the Ellimist. An alien whose species was exterminated because the Spore-like game popular on their world was mistaken as real, he and a few other survivors eventually were captured by a sadistic world-mind that really DID play god for 'lesser beings.' The Ellimist would apparently learn nothing from this cruelty and go on to escape and become just such a being, albiet a reasonably benevolent one.

There was a line, in the book where they faced the howlers, I think, where the Ellimist shows Jake the species lost when he and the Crayak had fought sort-of face to face. He described himself wanting to laugh in sheer wonder at the bizarre things the universe had come up with.
>>
>>22033360
Seed pods, they were seed pods.

The species had a sort of diamond shape for a body and claws that fit into axel like grooves in the seed pods that allowed them to use the things as wheels on naturally formed roads caused by volcanic activity.

they were kinda like elephants actually.
>>
>>22032152
The Howlers were children, not pure hate or destruction. Combat to them was a game, something they had no understanding of.

Jake and Cassie ruined Crayak's little illusion, and because of their hive-mind, they became effectively worthless. Because, again, retarded children.

Eederranell briefly reflected on her existence, and she was forced to come to the conclusion that she was disgusted with herself. She wasn't an elder by any means but aside from a few disastrous attempts at choosing a mate initiated by her mother she had yet to experience anything a sane Andalite would refer to as a "Healthy Relationship." Her eyestalks and tail drooped in self pity as she stalked through the grasses of the Ship's recreation room. A female of her years and she had yet to even begin so much as foreplay, the closes thing she had to a male worthy enough to be considered mate material (in her eyes anyway, her parents couldn't stand humans) didn't even have a tail!

Even so Eederranell had to admit that mating season was swinging around and there was just something so very unsatisfying about supressing her heat with chemicals. Eederranell exhaled through her face slits and stomped on the grass flat beneath her hooves. Clearly there was only one sensible option here.

This is absolutely not what you were thinking of, but have Barlowe's impression of wheeled alien from Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials.

This may be the first time that Piers Anthony has led to something awesome to people besides middle-schoolers.

(That ball on top is the eye and the genitalia. Their mating process is complicated. One of them unsticks from their wheel, and latches on to the wheel of the other one. The wheel becomes an egg, and one participant recovers the other wheel so they can move properly, and plants his eye-ball in the other's empty socket where it will eventually grow into a new wheel, blinding himself in the process. It eventually grows back)

Dust was supposed to be some wierd fucking element responsable for sapience. I dunno the guy writing it set out to do a sort of "Athiest Answer to Narnia" and his cutting off all worlds from ever interacting again killed my interest in the mythos.

Eederranell spent ten minicycles trying to find a way to make herself alluring to human eyes. Upon realizing that the closest thing she had to read not one, but several xenobiologist papers to understand the human obsession with mammaries she gave up and occupied herself by trampling circles in the rec room's grasses.

But as she knew he would Anon eventually came back from his morning run through the ship. As per usual he was dressed in the shorts and sweat shirt that he wore during these walks. He'd stopped wearing the odd false hooves, the "Shoes" as he caled them since watching him remove the garments made Eederranell uneasy for some reason. <<Anon come here please.>> Thought Ederranell with her best sultry undertones. <<I have something I wish to discuss.>>

Anon's mouth assumed what Eederranell knew to be a frown. "Why of course Nellie, you're the boss after all." and as requested he approached her. Eederranell placed her hand on his face and rubbed his cheek affentionately. She noted that his skin changed color and he appeared to be sweating even though he'd had more than enough time to cool down after his walk.

Then Eederranell took a step backwards and turned around, she lifted up one of her hind legs. She presented one of her hooves to Anon and thought at him. <<I think something may be caught in my hoofmaw, please stick one of your fingers down there and check for anything unusual.>> Anon gulped nervously.

"I dunno is that safe?" He asked with some trepidation in his voice.

In less than thirty seconds, he obliterated dozens of Hork-Bajir and armed humans, carried all the Animorphs more than two miles (IN BATTLE MORPHS, including grizzly bears and silverback gorillas), restarted Marco's heart, and reattached Rachel's grizzly bear arm.

And reduced Rachel, who rapidly becomes a psychotic killer by the end of the series, to a broken, sobbing wreck from the sheer violence of Erek fighting.

Erek was hardcore. Especially when later on, he covered hundreds of miles in under two minutes. And a lot of that distance was underwater, at depths of greater than ten to fifteen thousand feet.

Anon pressed his finger against the base of Nellie's hoof and traced the place where light blue flesh met the hard black surface of her hooves. The flesh was wrinkly, and almost teal in color. Nellie was using him to support some of her weight so he was forced down onto one knee, after all it wouldn't do to have her stumble while he was performing what was probably a routine medical examination, right? Of course, the face that this brought him down to eye level with Nellie's genitals was totally incidental, had to be.

Anon kept his eyes on Nellie's hoofmaw and pressed his index finger against the pebbly pucker of flesh. For a moment he was left wondering if something was going to happen and then the fleshy maw gaped open, teal lips seized his finger and surprisingly strong muscles pulled his finger down a slick warm tube of flesh. The muscles pulled his finger in right to the knuckle and he could feel the occasional tug as it tried to swallow more of his finger.

>>22033989
Yeah. One time he was on his own in human morph (bad, bad, bad, bad, bad idea) in the mall's food court (worse, worse, worse, worse, WORSE idea), and offered to do some work cleaning tables in exchange for money (to buy food). He cleaned the tables by eating all the food. Including the wrapping. People got annoyed when he went after food they were eating at the time, and the shop owner gave him a tray of cinnabon buns (bun-ZUH) to get him to shut up and go away.

There's a scene cut, and in the next chapter, they're out in the forest and Marco is telling everybody else that he was wandering through the mall when he heard people screaming to get an ambulance, because somebody had gone crazy and tried to eat an entire tray of cinnabon buns.

I loled heartily.

Anon couldn't help but notice that the hoofmaw was line with a thick vicous mucous, the mucous inquestion was blue in color and quite slick, similar in texture to human saliva mixed with KY Jelly. "Er Nellie-" He managed to work up the nerve to speak but the Andalite rested her tail his shoulders and thought at him.

<<Hush, we're not done yet. Slide a second finger inside of my hoofmaw. I am not satisfied with this test yet there may still be something stuck down there.>> Anon would've pointed out that there was something stuck in her Hoofmaw, him, but the presence of Nellie's tail around his shoulders, and more importantly the proximity of her blade, kept him quiet and obedient. He pressed the surface of his middle finger against the lips of Nellie's hoofmaw and the teal flesh greedily pulled the digit deep within its warm embrace. Nellie didn't move for awhile, she just let her hoofmaw's gullet gulp and massage Anon's fingers long enough for his mind to wander.

When Nellie felt her partner had been in that position long enough she exerted some measure of control over the muscles in her hoofmaw. The intent had been to gently force his fingers out of her hoofmaw, the result was that Anon now had a large patch of blue spittle on his shirt and a thick coating of it on his hand. Nellie was no expert on human behaviour but she doubted that being spat on was considered attractive in a mate.Still... she'd come much to far to stop now. Nellie pressed some controls on the walls and the portal to the waste disposal facilities sealed itself, leaving a clear featureless wall in its place. The portal to the rest of the ship did the same. Anon tilted his head questioningly. Nellie responded by attempting to imitate the phenomena humans called "bedroom eyes" surely if humans could become aroused by a single pair of eyes her obviously superior ocular arrangement would be irresistable. Anon attempted to speak and thought better of it. Clearly he'd been going through what she had? Humans did not go into heat, they were always ready to mate so obviously after being isolated from human females he'd be responsive to the advances of a suitable partner regardless of the species. Nellie's logic felt so flawless that she didn't bother to question it. She simply caressed Anon's face and thought <<Let me do all the work>> at him before pulling his shirt off.

extra mass gets stored in z-space or generated out of z-space.
This is actually mentioned in the books.
>>
>>22034644
Morphing a small creature extrudes your mass into Z-space, where it just sort of floats around until you need it again.

Morphing a large creature draws leftover mass from Z-space into your body, where it stays until you demorph. When you morph an elephant and demorph to reset, then remorph into a healthy one, you're drawing excess mass from Z-space.

Basically, you just get the necessary mass from somewhere else. You're not creating it.

Oh, okay. I never got that far in the series, I'm afraid. Like a bunch of other posters here, I lost track of it when my library ran out of books.

But she wouldn't allow him to interfere with the ritulistic removal of his garments. As her studies of the Xenobiological texts suggested she removed his shirt and rubbed his chest, commenting on his physique in sultry thought tones before moving onto his shorts and underwear. Nellie made certain to rub Anon's face after the removal of each garment. She lacked lips so she was unable to kiss him as the texts suggested but she could do the next best thing. Anon was a tad sluggish, presumably from arousal so she had a difficult time removing his shorts and underwear but she was finally able to strip him naked place his clothes in a storage bin.

>you are now wondering what happens if you're impregnated while in morph as a female of another species
>>
>>22034722
In theory, you could probably run out of Z-space matter, if enough people were morphing to draw mass from it at the same time. That said, since it's another dimension in the entire universe, you'd need a LOT of people morphing really big animals. I don't think it'll be an issue.

I think the Andalites are the only species who worked out how to draw mass in and out with morphing, though. Several times, morphing is called the crown jewel of Andalite technology, so it's undoubtedly much more advanced than anything else. Especially with how it allows you to rewrite your genetic code mid-morph (since you morph from DNA that rewrites you while keeping consciousness intact... yeah, it's fucking complicated).

>>22034766
Simple. You either stay more than two hours and get stuck as that form, or you morph back and get sick.
>>
>>22034766
Absolutely nothing.
NOTHING is remembered between morphs other than DNA unless the plot requires it.
>>
>>22034766
Tobias is the son of Elfangor who was in human morph when-
>as a female of another species

...uh oh
>>
>>22034782
Yeah, but now you've got a bunch of other DNA inside you. This seems like the sort of thing that would be in the "don't fucking do this!" instruction manual.
>>
>>22034766
If it's sentient, you'd probably be stuck, from a legal point of view, since you'd be killing the infant. Non-sentient, who gives a fuck.
>>
>>22034766
Two hours is not enough time for any real impregnation to actually matter, unless you're really religious about it. One Andalite (Andrea) morphed Hork-Bajir and stayed in morph forever. Occasionally, Hork-Bajir children who get a bit of the leftover DNA code from her morphed-body-with-other-animal-DNA-bits in birth are born with a genius-level intellect that can theoretically match an Andalite with proper study.
>>
>>22034798
How is it any different than getting an opponents blood inside you?
See: Every battle seen in the series.
>>
>>22034802
Yeah, but I don't think anybody cares about abortions if they happen two hours after impregnation. Hell, it's not even more than a single cell by that point.
>>
>>22034798
It'd just be like what happens if you get shot with bullets while in morph. As you demorph, the new organic matter (with its foreign DNA) is forced out of your body as it resets back to your baseline genetic code.

Do note that this is pure speculation.
>>
>>22034833
Eh. How morphing deals with putting you back together while retaining your consciousness is essentially magic, anyway.
>>
>>22034833
>organic bullets
>>
>>22034802
>turn back into yourself and you kill your child

or

>become another species for life and raise your child

there are all sorts of impossible-to-control legal problems with morphing, like a morph license
>>
>>22034809
Hork-Bajir have always had seers, which are what you're talking about.
>>
>>22034802
But people do that far longer than two hours after conception today, so i don't see why it would be legally troubling here.
Not that i support it mind you.
>>
>>22034833
Ideally, yes. But Shit Could Go Wrong: refer to that one time they were in the ant colony and someone (Marco maybe?) shifted back to human form as he was being bitten in half, and later found the anthead still latched onto his side.
>>
>>22034833
>a species develops weapons specifically to target the morpher's mass controlling abilities

cold war in space with transformations
>>
>>22034863
Oh, shit. I can see the barely-adolescent, shittily-written fic emerging already:

>Get knocked up in morph
>Andalite morphing technology refuses to kill a child
>Activates inbuilt safety mechanisms, combined with Weird Morph Shit.
>Congratulations! You're now Mpregnant.
>>
>>22034841
It sort of means that morphing retains the consciousness but also introduces a new one (the mind of the animal you morph). So maybe the consciousness is projected into Z-space with the rest of the required mass. Which might explain why you only have two hours. After that time, the link is too frayed to let you return it back to the body normally, leaving you trapped. Spitballing, but it pretty much does come down to "a wizard did it".
>>
>>22034809
nope, the smarter Hork-Bajir happens naturally every so often. It's not a matter of the left over dna.
>>
>>22034756
Nellie also used the HF controls to generate a small bar of soap and personally took the time to clean her fluids from his body. He was tense at first, but after the first few rubs and rinses he began to relax. Nellie spent a good deal of time lathering up each patch of vestigal fur and rinsing it clean, what purpose could such a thing have if not to facilitate communal grooming? Who was she to deny nature? Perhaps it was all the time isolated from her own kind but she took a perverse sort of enjoyment in cleaning her partner's phallus and testicles, judging from the sounds he made during the process Anon did too.

Eventually though the time came for him to take over and start cleaning her. Anon dutifully rubbed soap lather into Nellie's fur and worked his way across her body, he started at the back of her humanoid torso and slowly worked his way towards her hind end. (he almost skipped over he chest but some sultry teasing fixed that)

Rachel had a starfish morph

starfish can grow clones of themselves from their own severed limbs

Rachel lost a limb as a starfish and it morphed into a clone of her
>>

It split her personality into two entities with equal and opposite personality.
>>
>>22034918
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Separation_%28Animorphs%29

>On a field trip to the beach, Rachel is exploring tide pools when she loses an earring in the water. Wishing to get it back she comes across a starfish, acquires it, and morphs into it, retrieving the earring. Unfortunately, before she can demorph, a child chops her in half. Thanks to the regenerative properties of starfish, Rachel does not die; instead, in the shock of being sliced in two, both halves demorph, resulting in two Rachels - Mean Rachel and Nice Rachel.

Mean Rachel is violent, aggressive, and despises all forms of "weakness" - weakness including most feelings, and any attitudes towards enemies other than homicidal hatred. She is totally incapable of planning ahead, making her useless in anything other than a direct combat situation, and believes that she is always right. This leads her to try to kill Marco and Jake, and take control of the Animorphs. In contrast, Nice Rachel is totally passive, easily frightened, and is too scared to morph. She cannot fight, making herself a liability in battle, although she is good at making plans. Both Rachels are actively dangerous towards the secrecy and long-term survival of the Animorphs, and the rest of the Animorphs must find a way to combine them back into Normal Rachel.
>>
>>22034918
It created a weird personality split. They both demorphed into Rachel, leaving two Rachels. One was a ditzy mall rat scared of her own shadow. The other was a psychotic, murdering warrior.

Then there are the ways that morphing can be reset after you're trapped, such as if you morph something that has a natural morph (e.g. caterpillar to butterfly). Resets the morphing timer, so you have your two hours to demorph again.
>>
>>22034964
>Morph into a Time Lord
>Get twelve retries
>Also you get to feel up the Doctor in the process of acquiring it, so hey, bonus!
>>
>>22034964
I don't remember that bit about the natural morph thing. Source?
>>
>>22034993
From memory; Cassie makes a deal with some non-hostile Yeerk that requires her to force herself to get "stuck" in a morph, and she chose a caterpillar for some reason. And then, when she turned into a butterfly a few days later, it somehow "reset" the process.

As Anon laid upon the floor and dilligently scrubbed her belly Nellie wondered how she was going to cope without having him and during her bathing sessions. She came to the only logical conclusion: she wouldn't have to cope without him at all. He was going to become her mate.

Nellie twisted her Humoind torso, did her best to imitate the "Bedroom Eyes" expression and pitched her thought tones towards the sultry range. <<Anon you've done such a good job cleaning me that think it time I returned the favor.>> She carefully shifted her weight and lifted up one of her forelegs and placed her hoofmaw at his eye level. The Teal orifice managed a passable imitation of a human kiss and Nellie winked one of her eyestalk her partner.

"I uh... what?" Anon managed to sputter.

<<Just stay like that. Oh don't bother saying anything lover>> Crooned Eederranell in her silkiest thought tones. <<Your engorged maleness says it all.>>

Wasn't Applegate a ghostwriter's collective, though?
>>
>>22035057
I think she got sick or something. She laid out extensive notes (the people she thanks in the start of each book are the ghost writers), but only actually wrote the first twelve and last two, or something.
>>
>>22035057
Most of books 25-52 were ghostwritten. K. A. Applegate is a real person who actually exists, though.

>Katherine Ann Applegate (born July 19, 1956) is an American author, best known as the author of the Animorphs, Remnants, Everworld and other book series, although most of these series are ghostwritten by other authors.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K._A._Applegate
>>
>>22035057
well some of it had to be ghostwritten. It's not humanly possible to churn out books that fast for that long.

I've always imagined that the chronicles were more her own work, since she wasn't tied to the insane release schedule with those
>>
>>22035100
Wikipedia doesn't list them as being one of the ghostwritten books, so they're hers.
>>
>>22035100
And they were ghostwritten by people she knew really well, and then she edited them to make damn sure they worked with the continuity, and she wrote really extensive notes for the ghostwriters.

Nellie sat down pressed herself against the back of the HF room, the warm ceramic did nothing for her and it felt particularly uncomfortable against her tail but this was the most crucial part of her attempted mating. She had to succeed! She did her best to give Anon a reassuring glance, though it came off more like a glare of command and then she pressed the tip of her hoofmaw against Anon's maleness and carefully flexed some muscles in her legs. The Tral lips of her hoofmaw siezed the head of his shaft and greedily pulled his maleness inside.

Anon moaned helplessly as she let the muscles of her hoofmaw work his throbbing shaft. Everything she'd read about human sexuality had indicated that good oral sex was prized among their species. She'd spent weeks practicing with vegetables and sexual toys and finally come to the conclusion that not only would a hoofjob be safe, she'd be able to provide her partner with far more pleasure than a human female ever could.

She had to be careful though, she didn't want him to climax too quickly, otherwise he'd be to tired to reciprocate. She watched his body and tested his reactions. Nellie spent a good half cycle seeing how much she could make him squirm and moan without actually climaxing and came to the conclusion that the best way to stimulate his organ was to let the throat muscles of her Hoovemaw work without intervention. She made certain to note that pressing the lips of her hoofmaw flush with the base of his cock (making certain to account for her own weight of course) was the most effective method of pleasure her partner.

When she finally pulled her hoof from his shaft his thighs and groin were covered in a thick slurry of blue salive and musky precum. She moved forward and gently pushed him out of the way before kneeling with her forelegs and pushing her rump in the air. <<Well don't just stand there Anon, I have a position that needs filling>> This time she made her thoughtforms purr

Anon carefully worked his way around Nellie's bulk and moved into the smidgeon of space that remained behind the Andalite femme's rump. He pressed his hands on her flanks and looked into the rich, blue flesh of her femmehood. Nellie's vagina was slick with viscous cerulean arousal and the curios poking and prodding of his fingers into her silken depths earned him some sultry chastisement.

Nellie had a very simple demand, she wanted his cock, and she wanted it inside of her. Anon was in no position to deny the Andalite anything so he lined up his dick with her vagina and went where no man had gone before.

One small thrust for man, one giant leap for mankind.

>>22035675
Yeah. Of course the problem is statting all the different morphs. Heres my go at it.

Morphs are composed of multiple traits
Size, how big it is 1 being a catch all for everything from a spider to a helmacron, 5 being standard human and 10 being another catch all for "oh shit what did Visser 3 morph this time"
Instinct, how difficult the creature is to control in morph, 1 being the same species as you and thus no unfamiliar instinct 10 being taxxons
Natural weapon, self explanatory, things like claws, teeth or tail-blades
Abilities, any innate abilities the morph may have such as a birds improved eyesight or a shark's gills
Strength would be based primarily on size.
Everything else would have to come from the morpher.

All in all it would need to be a fairly abstract system to work with with much going to the GM
