Sup /tg/ Today I was trying to organise a new game session with a few of my online friends.
During this conversation we were trying to come up with a plot, or some sort of story to base the game off.
Now I came up with a strange idea, A sort of mutant hero quest thing.
Each player has an inner monster.
No I do not mean, that grimdark shite, "Oh god nobody can understand the darkness within me, the monster inside."
Fuck that I mean literal monsters.
Each person has a sort of inner monster caused by (insert Dm's excuse to fit in with there world)

There would be two level types. Your player level, and your monster level, they are kept separate.
You level your player as normal, but your monster level will only increase when you give in to your monster side. Or use your monster skills.

Let's say you play as a human, and you chose your inner monster to be a slime. Pic related.
Then as this monster gets stronger, you get feats from the monster, also disadvantages.
At the first level, you only get an advantage, a simple skill. For this example I will say, a slime version of ghoul touch. But every time you use it, it gives you points for your monster side.
Level 5, you may gain immunity to poison, but you become greasy and slimy, loosing points in charisma, and making stealth rolls harder.

Would you guys be interested in anything like this?
>>
You may continue, sir...
>>
>>22040134
Tell me more.
>>
Sounds pretty cool, actually.
>>
That actually sounds really badass. I'd play it.
>>
>>22040134
That mimic picture is badass, 'specially because the eyes and mouth slowly disappear. Continue, good sir.
>>
What happens at level 20? They make a full transition into the monster?
>>
Going to trip in this thread, just to say ideas, and get some back from you guys.
Hope you don't mind.

So the separate levels.
I wanted to split them up as a sort of option for players.
Let's say someone doesn't want to "give in" to there monster side. For whatever reason that may be.
Then it lets them continue there character without the other side intruding on how they want to play there character.

Everyone would get a monster side, some people building there houses off it, like the house of the lycan. Or house of the flumph.
Where people who have the same monster type have come together.
I was thinking everyone has it, because it makes the game less of a, "Chosen hero" type thing and more of what DnD is, just a bunch of murder hobos.

>>22040275
No, they never make the full transformation.
they still keep there human form, but they are heavily influenced by there monster side.
An example I used for my friend was there inner monster being a wolf. They would end up looking like this pic.
Pretty much in there werewolf form 24/7
But have complete control over themselves.
With the occasional urge to sniff other peoples ass.

And level 20 is just an idea. Not the actual number.
>>
>>22040134
Sounds Rad.

Also make that some gear become available only if you are "monster enough" or "human enough", bonus to weapons and armors who can be weared by both, let's say.
Swords can't be used by Human/Mimic 5/10
since hands aren't controlled enough to hold it, but increase damage in unarmed combat, since now they are more like flails of flesh.
>>
I would play it.
>>
>>22040348
That would need a huge amount of thought into it, since it could pretty much cripple certain players. Like Imagine a warrior, that suddenly can't use his hands.
I do agree with you though.
For example Myconids Can't wear helmets. Because of there fat mushroom head. But they can make special hats for an increased gold price.
I think with your mimic hand idea, a penalty would be fine.
>>
>So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal

Please tell me the DM randomly rolls the monster and doesnt tell the player which one he is until the player statts to unleash it. Its how i would DM a mutating monster game. Also helps you make a list of 'allowed monsters' to roll from so it doesn't affect balance TOO much. Expecting this not to turn balance upside down is foolish. I like it!

Then you would get skinnier, loose skin off your fingers, then about half way through, you look like a warcraft forsaken. At 3/4 you probably look like this.
You pretty much have your skin fall off.

I would be more than happy to endorse this idea.

Provided I can have one of those six legged tigers from John Carter of Mars as my inner monster.

Do you have a name for it OP?

Monster-Hearts
Inner Demons
Dark Reflections

That's all I got for the moment, but they don't seem to fit the setting. From what I can tell it's less "Crawling in my skin" more "A day in the life of a monster"
>>
>>22040598

If any monster works...
This should be retooled into a monstergirl game for ERP reasons.
>>
>>22040552
Depends on the GM.
But I like that idea.
Gm rolls two dice, one to decide there base species. Another to decide the sub species.

Or if the GM feels nice, the player gets to choose there main species, but the gm rolls for the type.
Obviously the GM gets the last say on what races are available, or you will be running with a party of dragon people.
>>
>>22040634
Monster hearts sounds nice. But the other two seem a lil grim.
My friend recommended, Mega Monster Murder Hobos.

I want it to be more, inner talents or born to noble house sort of shit. And less, "Dark brooding past"
>>
>>22040134
I. LOVE. this idea.

You could be a Rust Monster/Monk whose punches eat away armor/weapons. Or a Beholder/Wizard who starts growing eyestalks that fire lasers. The possibilities are endless.
>>
>>22040634
I vote against Monster Hearts.

Because that's ALREADY a game system (Based on Apocalypse World).
>>
>>22040679
Lets go with Monster-Hearts. It's simple and to the point, and sort of so dumb its good.

Maybe set the game world up in a constructed environment or a wierd multiplanar place like sigil?

I have this idea of the players being from noble houses and having tattoos that mark them as a part of the houses and stuff. I'm mostly seeing the inner monster thing as something that afflicts the populace and there are no typical goblin races and stuff, just crazy people who can't cope with their inner monster, or y'know...jerks.
>>
>>22040722
Yep. Not only that, but one that centres on teenage angst.

>Monsterhearts lets you and your friends create stories about sexy monsters, teenage angst, personal horror, and secret love triangles. When you play, you explore the terror and confusion that comes both with growing up and feeling like a monster.

>Based on the Apocalypse World engine, this is a game with emergent story, messy relationships, a structured MC role, and a focus on hard choices.

>It’s designed to evoke stories like True Blood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ginger Snaps or The Twilight Saga. If you like supernatural romances, or stories of monstrosity and personal horror, or if you just like watching sexy people ruin their lives, then you’ll love this game.

Plus with tattoos and houses you get dangerously close to Dragonmarks
>>
Could be fun, but I'd worry about it turning into angsty otherkin bait.
>>
>>22040774
How about magical infusion?

We have a singlecontinent that once upon a time was populated with all the stereotypical monster races along with humans (and maybe elves and orfs and stuff. I think it works better without them. Whatever.) Some enterprising wizards cast a spell and wiped the monsters from the face of existence but preserving humans (and elves and dorfs and stuff maybe) and normal animals from thereality warping effects of the spell.

However where there is a reaction there is an equal, yet opposite reaction. With the monster races gone something has to take their place! Now <insert number of centuries/millenia later here> people are discovering that they have the abilities of some monsters of yore.
>>
>>22040788
From the AP's I've heard of it, it's supposed to be the trainwrecks that those all involve, not SparkleMotion.

Specifically, how horrifying it would be to be the FATHER of the dumb bitch in Twilight, watching his slightly retarded daughter change, and realizing she's being stalked and molested by the undead.
>>
>>22040722
How does Creatures path sound?
>>22040751
I think the scenario should be able to fit into any world, so a sort of magical aftermath from a crazed litch or a god of chaos, who fancied playing a joke on the wold.

I think there would be monsters still, but once again it's all on what the GM chooses, monsters like orcs and ogres COULD be people who have lost control of there other side.

Funny you should mention the houses and stuff, because there is another question.

Should the monsters be based off blood lines?

Also can I get some more questions on things to help me work out the bugs.
>>
>>22040828
I like this
>>
>>22040803
I was thinking more of those marks they have in Bloody Roar but whatever.

Maybe have one house show an affinity for body mods...? Tats and Piercings and such?

Eh Whatevs.

So do we want noble houses and such to be focused around monster type or allegience to a creed of some sort?

Sorta like one house is where all the White Knights hang out and one is where all the Thieves hold their shin-digs?
>>
>>22040828
The problem is, now that you've mentioned magic, people will want to be wizards. I have no qualms against wizards, provided they're done right. Too bad, that rarely happens.
>>
>>22040847
I like Cryptozoa more OP but hit me with a tag line.

Creature's Path: <Tag Line goes here>

Oh and I think the monster thing should be based more on a person's peronality, likes, dislikes, etc. etc. I'd kinda prefer a world without monsters, where the orc, goblin, and kobold niches are filled by people who are channeling those monsters or who are just jerks with special powers but that's just me.
>>
>>22040874
Eh simple enough, have mystical back lash screw with spells, make only the most simple and effective spells work, stuff like magic missile or purify water, or conjure food. Stuff like dimensional warping or stopping time is likely to cause some sort of horrific backlash effect that will probably kill your character.

Make the cosntruction and maintanence of magical items a fairly epic quest that involves hunting down and slaying powerful monster people or rcovering ancient artifacts.

Make it a setting where your monster abilities are more important than any magic you could use, magic is just a tool.
>>
>>22040933
>>22040874

or you need to be mostly human to cast magic, but whenever the spell fails or you cast powerful magic you add points to you inner creature. So over time you'd be unable to cast magic.
>>
>>22040933
I have an idea: because your inner monster is magical in nature, using magic will harm you greatly. Not only that, the higher your level is, the more this magic will hurt you.
>>
>>22040828
That could be a good scenario, but you would lose allot of the normal monsters. And would restrict the base player races.
>>22040871
>body mods.
Don't see why not, you could have a house obsessed with whatever you want in your campaign. But having to tattoo or mod yourself to use your powers seems a bit forced.
Why not keep it to a group of them, who want to be more one with there monster sides, who have the body modifications as a right of passage.

>So do we want noble houses and such to be focused around monster type or allegience to a creed of some sort?

I like the idea of houses based off there monster types. The stronger variations of the monsters being the higher ups.

I understand a creed for certain groups, but if the monsters inside is common within everyone, then there is really no point in all people having a creed.
>>22040874
Agreed.
>>
>>22040949
So there's a decline of magi because anything that casts magic powerful enough to actually do something they gradually looses its arcane powers?

A different question though.
Once you go monster enough, can you only copul-, no rather, breed with the same "species" or does anything go. This is important, as a great many rather sick things can happen if you don't set rules about this now.
>>
>>22040949
Sort of like shadow run's essence dealy? The more monster you are the better your attacks are (Like slime touch, Beholder Rays, or a natural bite/claw attack) and the less powerful spells you can cast.

The more human you are (maybe some sort of MP system with a recovery and burn rate based on how human you are) the better sapells you can cast but everytime one of your spells backfires the ever present monster field warps you a little more?
>>
>>22040981
>the ever present monster field warps you a little more?
Speaking of, is it possible to mix different types of monsters?
>>
This sounds like a really neat idea op.
>>
>>22040966
I was thinking of the tattoos and stuff being a side effect of the monster powers, but whatever its a personal preference and not important to the matter at hand.

As for player races, well why shouldn't you just keep to all humans? The important part here as near as I can tell is having monster abilities and using them for stuff and if we stick to that and implement the "Magic is only useful if you're human" thing and use a corruption meter to make magic less effective you have a handy control mechanism to keep mages from becoming too OP.

As for the houses being based around Race... I suppose. It just seems too stereotypical to me. But whatevs, creative differences.

I'm looking at it as "You start off human and you find out what kind of monster you are."

Other people might look at it as "You're born with a certain kind of monster inside of you."
>>
>>22041013
What... like take levels in slime and Salamander to get pyro jelly attacks?

>>
>>22041024
I like this.
I really like the idea of not knowing whats inside you. You figure out a power (potentially accidentally) and can kind of guess what you might be. But you don't know for sure till you start mutating.
>>
>>22040903
When it comes to titles I'm not sure.

>based more on a person's peronality, likes, dislikes, etc.
That would be good, but monsters can have different personalities to.

>I'd kinda prefer a world without monsters, where the orc, goblin, and kobold niches are filled by people who are channeling those monsters or who are just jerks with special powers but that's just me.
And I think that's a perfectly viable idea.

>>22040960
>>22040949
>>22040933
But what about magical creatures. Surely being part beholder would make magic even easier.

I think the game should be more of an addon than a stand alone game type.
If it is a stand alone thing, then it would be allot more restrictive. Making it just a mechanic or game addon let's you stick it into any sort of game scenario.

>>

>>
>>22041162
Eh, it varies.

Think about it, Beholders are just big floating eyeballs with eyestalks, one of those eye stalks is a disentigrator beam, one freezes things etc, etc,

If you look at the lasers as racial abilities ( aFairy's ability to turn invisible for instance) then the magic thing makes perfect sense since the spell caster in question is trying to warp reality and turning into the monster would push him further along the Creature's Path and tie up some of his mana in his monster abilities.

I guess you scpould state thatthey gain greater access and ability with spells that suit their monster type but have a harder time casting opposing spells to that creature's type as they go further along?

Hum. PErsonal preferences I guess.
>>
>>22040980
> breed with the same "species"
Very good question. VERY good question.
I think this would be on house rules. But my personal idea would be this.
Wolf man and orc lady. Roll d20 10 or below is orc 11 or higher would be wolf.
Then you roll a d20 on the quality of the type.
It would still be normal human/orc whatever.

>>22041013
>>22041045
>>22041055
Would have to be house rules or it would become really strange. Or it could be a whole separate part of the game. Like a second version of it.

So we've got the basic human-monster idea, then there's the more complex mutant-monster thing. I like them both!

OP I love, love, love! This idea! I may steal it. I would like to see it work similar to a demon-spawn's mutations in DCSS. Where you get random mutations that may increase in tiers. So you roll on a chart and get wings and talons, which get stronger with time. A person may assume their inner beast was a bird. But if someone got wings and fangs, they could assume bat.

Lump in elemental resistances, tentacles, telepathy and all kinds of fun stuff and you have a group of horrors. It would also prevent everyone from going full monster all the time or ruin (readjust) their character plans. Someone who knows they are aquatic would probably focus on pole-arms, nets, ect. And then if they get a stone-skin (sink) mutation they would have to re-think those plans.

Just ideas I'm kicking around.

Okay so we have a continent, or maybe a world where people have Monster Souls or something.

We can assume that the rolse of goblins and stuff are filled either by people with monster souls or mix&match beasties.

What we need now is a name for the continent, some major cities, and a source of conflict.

I'm thinking we should treat the whole thing the same way you'd treat the setting for a 90s post apocalyptic saturday morning cartoon show. Its like a typical D&D world After The End, and Everything Is Better With Mutants.

> How many monsters are you going to have to choose from?
As many as people want to be. All the basic monsters will be pre made. But the rarer ones would probably be home-brewed.
>How many transitional levels between human and full monster morph? Just four?
That's just a picture, you need to think for yourself on it, each level you look more and more, the levels on there were just an example.

Water Elemental+Eldritch Subtype

Abyssal Water Elemental

An Elemental that usually calls the darkest depths of the ocean home. On the rare occasions these creatures do roam the landscape their very appearance can cause brave men and stout warriors to go mad. These creatures are not just walking humanoid figures of water, they are enormous slouching masses of seaweed, muc and highly pressurized water. They can slice a stone wall open with a spray of water or force a man to gaze upon the strange otherworldly creatures that dwell deep inside of them.

The only advice that can be given when facing an Abyssal Water Elemental is this: Run, and hope you have nothing it wants.

Demonic slime, huh.

Jello-ised lava from the bowels of earth. Feeds mostly on rocks of various kinds. Can keep its heat contained to not melt through the earth but if need be can turn the heat up to a bajillion degrees celcius. Getting out of the hole the slime'd burrow through the earth would take a while, though.

Maybe we're thinking about this all wrong. Maybe we should look at the transformation like a check list. You get a stress or transformation event worth a certain number of points that you have to mark off.

I'm not sure, I'm tired:

Agitation / Stress / Strong emotions trigger the transformation.

Tiger Wasp

The creatures are a particularly vicious form of life that, thankfully, only live in the Sky Shatter Mountains. They are (amusingly enough) tigers with six legs, a large pair of insectoid wings, compound eyes, and claws that secrete a deadly venom.

Unlike their smaller cousins Tiger Wasps are territorial and will not tolerate another Tiger Wasp in their territory, but even one is dangerous enough to bring down an experienced party of Adventurers.

Beware a Tiger Wasp Queen, especially if she is pregnant. The Royal Jelly she secretes to feed her young may be a potent alchemical ingredient but many a man has gone to his grave in search of it.

You know that's a good approach and it has a lot of potential.

The way I view it "Monstrous" is relative in a world where people are EXPECTED to mutate as a rite of passage. They'd probably be more concerened about your ethics, morality, and ability to communicate with others than your appearance.

Lets be honest: in Planescape, what is an average reaction of a human to a devil, and angel and a slaad walking into bar? And I'm not talking about some Prime Material-minded berk, but a cutter who has been living in Sigil for years.
>>
>>22041903

Maybe, but that's just for the Slime example. It'll be different for every monster, and I'm sure some players will want to make up their own. Maybe there is a simple system of degrees that can be used, both for Powers and for Appearance.
>>
>>22041928
>>22041925
In Sigil? It'd be a lifted eyebrow, a smarmy comment to his drinking buddies and business as usual.

But yeah, we should probably figure out a syetm of degrees to determine modifications in physical and mental behaviour caused by manifestations of your soul monster.

It'd probably be like attaining advantages and disadvantages as you advance farther on The Creature's Path.
>>
>>22041928
I think appearance would not effect people that much, it would be like an halforc walking around.

I for one like it. Why don't we use this handy chart >>22041784 and just let characters pick a subtype of monster once their life changing mutations occur.

Like lets say the GM has a book of mutations and their advantages, he knows what kind of advantages the player can get so he lists them.

Better eyesight and flight are shared by Avian and Insectoid subtypes the GM knows his player wants to be a bird and fly but he wound up with Insectoid/Arachnoid instead.

He starts out thinking he's going to be a hawk person and winds up a Dragon Fly instead and the GM will narrate his transformation as he grows compound eyes and four vestigal bug wings...
>>
>>22040933
If we're going for a lighthearted feel, we could create some kind of mana system (reminiscent to the Power Points of the Psions in 3.X, perhaps.) Just give it low amounts of mana/have to burn health if you run out, releasing inner monster/make them all have back-lash. It lets you be a Wizard, but still stops you from being a murder-machine.

>>
>>22042141
Interesting.

so our basic undead types are: Skeleton, Zombie, and Ghost right?

That means we should build advantages in along those lines. An undead subtype, once he hits mid level transformation can only attain sustenance by draining living beings, but he's ageless and immune to disease.

This sound about right?
>>

Exactly, a slime might have parlytic goo or something, a cat person might have pouncing, A spider would have webs/poison A gorilla would have rustled jimmies

Each of them would have a pool of Monster Points to perform their special abilities and they'd probably get extra attack/damage die if they spent more monster points.

I decided to pick ones from the list. My only complaint from an artistic point of view would be that too many of the choices are animalistic instead of monstrous. It makes it feel more... Werewolf-y. I'd take out ones like Equine and throw in some Cyclops', Minotaurs, or Trolls. I dunno.

>>

Golems are constructs, both in the original Hebrew lore and in D&D lore.

What you're looking at is an earth elemental subtype.
>>
>>22042347

You're underestimating the magic of magic. Golems would offer more options than just different elements such as the aforementioned clockwork golem as well as possibly a nuetronium golem subtype that could work as a BBEG for a setting.

What happens when you happen to his the jackpot and do nothing but gain more power the more they abuse their power?
>>
>>22042310

>Rust monster

Best monk ever.
>>
>>22042414
You get props for imagination but lose them for plot holes see >>22040828 Golems don't have souls or a specific magiecological niche. They're made by mages for mages to use. It doesn't make sense for a person with a monster soul to have a golem's soul since golems are nothing more than magically motivated automotons.

I suppose you could homebrew the golem thing but it doesn't make any sense to me with the given "Monsters are dead, no John you are the monster" setting idea.

Also:
>Nuetronium golem.
No, I don't care if you can have a kraken as your soul monster, a creature that can kill star systems is out of line.

I love this idea, but the homebrew process is such a horrible experience.
>>
>>22042688

Why not go regular reptile route? It's not like half-dragons aren't already a popular enough thing. Komodo dragon people would be the worst to fight because a weak after they run away you start dying from the dozen or so diseases they just gave you with their nasty ass mouths. Meanwhile you've got snake people losing their arms and slithering the fuck out.

Makes more sense than having an entire subsection for equine when arguably mammal would suffice.

Why?

You can easily make a knockoff beholder person or something via a point buy system if you go with the magical entry on >>22042889 I don't want to spend hours trying to balance a 100 entry list which is what I'd have to do if I poured through a monster manual looking for cool entries.

Much easier to just make some generic descriptions for stuff like "Venemous" and "Flight Capable" and let the player fluff his bat person or whatever.
>>
>>22042928
Well, there is Illithid.
>>
>>22042889
That's ok. I just have this feeling that I'm doing the wrong thing: I'm describing the inner qualities you'd get, rather than outer qualities.
>>
>>22042931
Difference here is you're looking it as a part of character creation where players set out to create "Batperson Fighter" while I'm seeing it as something inflicted on the characters. The player makes their character, then rolls for what creature is inside them. Pointbuy doesn't work for that, gives the players control over what, essentially, should be a difficult to control factor.
>>
>>22042976
yeah I don't think a chart is what we need here.

I think we need a list of traits that a GM could allow his player to pick and choose from once they have their monster.

Okay lets say for instance you rolled up "Undead" on the chart, you could then choose a kind of undead, the GM would choose for you, or you could roll up the undead type on another chart.

From there you'd choose the types of bonuses as time goes on.
>>
>>22043023
So... we do need charts. In fact we need more charts.

Why not just use mythological monsters and RPG staples and discard the D&D mythological baggage unless the person in question is running this on Faerun or greyhawk?

Depends on how you approach it in game if The Mutations are viewed as a natural progression of the person in question and embraced (to one degree or another) by society then no... Unless of course you run the risk of becoming TOO monstrous then somehow purifying yourself or mitigating mutation would become pretty important.

Like I said, depends on how you want to approach things. I like to think that going full monster is a concious decision on the character's part and that mutation, up to a point, is encouraged by society.

so something along the lines of the magic of now long dead monsters coalescing in mortals giving them a fraction of the monsters previous strength and magic?
>>
>>22049460
Something like that yeah. Magi killed off the monsters but reality wants those monsters to exist so maybe there was a great big magical reniassance after the death of all the monsters right?

Big Magitek revolution. Then there wa war, A Spellocalypse and the PCs live in the ruins of the old world. The Monsters were only kept out of the world by the spell and now that spell has weakened but the clearest easiest way for these monsters to return is for their banished essence to drift and fuse with a compatable mortal.

Or something...
>>
>>22049747
that's a pretty cool idea for a setting.

Prehaps guilds formed around the descendents of the magi that killed off the monsters and the monsters as they return are seeking the guilds whose magi did the most against their species as a form of revenge.

On another note what if for a plot direction having PC's explore memories that their monster holds.
>>
>>22049910
Spirit quests are always cool. Might be a good way for the PC to unlock hidden abilities and stuff.

and yeah I can see Guilds and Noble houses forming around the remnants of Magi Groups and MAgitek industrial foundries and stuff. Hmm, maybe there was a war with intelligent golems somewhere before or during the Spellocalypse and the Intelkligent golems were wiped out?

Big thanks for bumping this thread. I hope the original crew is still here.
Also, I can't finish goblinoids, because I don't know what's so special about them: they small, have shitty teeth and elf ears. That's it.
>>
>>22054408
Include Orcs, Hobgoblins, Bugbears, and other large geenskin type creatures in that list.

Goblins are just runty little fucks who got the short end of the stick.
>>
>>22054408
disadvantages for the reptiles: No thumbs, long teeth make talking hard, Tail(could be an advantage)

This sounds like a retarded idea, why the hell would you level the monster side if it kept kicking you in the dick for doing so?
>>
Rolled 1

'Kay, didn't see that.
>>
>>22055994

Because with every kick, you gain another inch.
>>
>>22056010
So you're an Empty Exoskeleton. Cool.

>>
>>22056132
I'm okay with this.
What were to happen if I shed, though?
>>
>>22056196
well you're really only supposed to roll once for a PC and once we have more charts like the one I made for undead we could pick out a specific subtype for your inner Monster.

As for shedding, you wouldn't, but you'd have to start patching holes in your shell or fall apart entirely.
>>
>>22056161
Interesting, It'll certainly help us come up with some ideas.

Are we

Are we being the furries here?

They're supposed to have more of a "Egyptian gods" look: animal head, human everything else. Aside from reptiles and abominations, most look more human than animal.
>>
righto, so one of you linked this in the drawthread last night. anyway, I'm free for some monster-person doodling, as this sounds pretty fun.
>>
>>22056383

Since there's a lack of persecution complexes in this thread I'm gonna say no. You should learn to ignore fanbases, since they are always terrible.
>>
>>22056597
Oh cool, I was wondering if any of the drawfags would notice.

Near as I can tell our basic setting is "Monsters all die thanks to mages, Magitek Golden Age ensues. YOU BLEW IT UP! YOU BLEW IT UP! YOU BASTARDS, YOU BLEW IT UP! and then we're right back to Dark Age fantasy with swords and sorcery only people turn into monsters now and its a generally accepted fact of life. Goblins and Orcs and Dragons and stuff are either Mix&Match monsters or people abusing their powers."

someone wanted a bearded axe and I scrapped that together, it's supposed to be a flat bearded face but I kind of rushed it.

Near as I can tell wights fall under zombie since, y'know, animated corpse.

How about a Mix&Match monster doing battle with some adventurers?

Rolled 3, 2 = 5

So a mammal and a myconid. A plantamal!

Myconid/Floral
1: Mushroom
2: Mold
3: Flower
4: Tree
5: Carnivorous plant
6: Vine
>>
>>22056797
So murder hobos fighting some sort of Felenid Mold.

That's horrifying on multiple levels.

Maybe a netwrok of mold growths that connect to one another and act as a sort of hivemind? They'll grow servants that look vaguely feline methinks.

Lupine...oh wait now I remember. I was trying to type "Lapine" so a rabbit person.

So how about a butch rabbit fighter or something?
>>
>>22056161
for reptile, there is an oxymoron. you have both cold blooded and need night to survive. cold blooded means that it needs warmth to stay awake. reptiles sunbathe.
>>
what happens if someone gets both angelic and demonic
>>
>>22058938

Well you could go the tortured soul super person route, or you could have a person whose two halves are each trying to literally consume one another causing constant pain that can only be sated by committing equally evil and good acts at the same time.
>>
>>22058938
Jekyll and Hyde.
>>
>>22041358
Yeah, while it would be nice never making a sound, the second someone steps in a big ol' pile of you, it's over.

like this?
>>
>>22056161
I think level 20 Undead should be:
>A: Never die!
>D: Ever.

Sure, it seems nice at first, until you realize that you still feel pain. You will literally live forever, completely unable to die, even when your body is destroyed. A consciousness floating through the ether with nothing to cling to, no one to see, and no direction.
>>
>>22042310
>Rust Beast
Insectoid.
>>
>>22059487

Until it runs into and corrupts another person. All the undead spirits get their undying souls slowly overwritten by the ones that consume them.

Rolled 11

>>22059437
yes that works just fine methinks.

Oh hey did you know rabbits have claws similar in shape and function to a cats? A rabbit person would make a great monk.
>>
>>22059487
I think that going the Wraith:the Oblivion way is much more horrifying. Sure, you have immortality, but if you're killed, you're annihilated. Gone. Poof.
Personally, I find eternal nothingness more terrifying, but it's your game.
>>22058938
They're opposites, so they will destroy each other and the host in process.

So that's a vampire, interesting.

Maybe a person with glasgow smile or other hideous mutation?

I'm thinking more old folklore were vampires were walking corpses than anne rices sexy lesbian vampires.
>>
>>22059633
I'd be fine with it.

Oh and I archived it last night.
