Welcome welcome one and all to the after christmas special of Company Civ. The barony of Silverdale is nearing the holiday season and all companies will be feeling the strain. Winter is coming friends, and it will bring presents. Cloudswreath night is in one months time, will you be ready?

Here is the archive of the previous threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Refrek%20Spine%20Snapper

Now, I'll wait a few minutes for people to show up before posting turn one. I feel pumped for this thread today guys! I hope its a good one!
>>
>>22234462

Today, I'll probably be able to play for just few hours, maybe less. But until then, I'm here.
Lets hope the holiday season is not keeping everybody else busy.
>>
>>22234524
Looks like we have one, just waiting on another and we'll get this show on the road!
>>
>>22234546

The wait begins...
>>
>>22234462
Am here.
>>
I'm here, been reading the archives.
>>
>>22234597
It seems like there might not be a thread today, I expect it is partially due to the holiday season and partially to the fact that this is not exactly a new user friendly quest.
>>
>>22234665
This me btw.
>>
>>22234671
>>22234665

>>
>>22234672
seems like you spoke too soon, heh

This is one of the more interesting quest/civ games but I think the over-saturation of these type of games (especially during holidays) has lessened the interest of /tg/
>>
Special Offers:
Trains Make The World Go Round: Forty-eight turns remain until you must have the new train system completed. The bureaucracy must see periodic progress... or you face losing the contract
A Baron's Tale: Try to fix the bureaucracy, is a free form offer.
The Merchants are Coming! The Merchants are Coming!: In twelve turns you need to go into the merchant's ball and get yourself come contracts.
Season's Beatings: The holiday season is coming, Cloudswreath will strain the company's production and often portions of the city is burnt down during the holidays. You might want to prepare (four turns till it begins)

Possible Purchases:
1500 Tarllings: Bribe a member of the merchant's council to put in a good word for your CEO to be elected to a minor committee position come the next election season.
1200 Tarllings: Buy time for several employees at the magi college to be trained in specific magical arts, any magical art feasible can be chosen. After these arts are trained the company may create products pertaining to these magics.

900 Tarllings: Expand the business into a second building, specify what location the building should be in.

Action Points: THREE
What will you choose to do?

A) Search for a job.
B) Company alliances.
C) Go out to hire people.
D) Research into a new product for the market.
E) Business venture.
F) Go to Invest in a company.
G) Other.
H) Ask Grandfather for advice (free action)

>Season's Beatings: The holiday season is coming, Cloudswreath will strain the company's production and often portions of the city is burnt down during the holidays. You might want to prepare (four turns till it begins)
>often portions of the city is burnt down during the holidays
....You don't mean that literally, right?

Anyway.
>D/G
More different toys, specialized toys or different toy-lines. Also, introduce toy automobile which runs on miniature spring engine (no need to stuff our advanced engines into toys.... don't think we'd be able to anyway)

>G
Prepare for holiday season, stock up on supplies
>>
>>22234749
Buy a ship
Hire 11 employees
Make some holiday themed toys
>>
D/G mini cars for the kids
D look into making better airships
D make a boat that goes underwater. Use the AC as a way to get new air.
>>
>>22234807
I mean that literally... large portions of the city often gets burnt to the ground during the holidays.
>>
>>22234814
>Buy a ship

What for? Are you sure that we will be able to fully utilize it? We're still far too small of a company to export our products over the seas.
If we get a guarantee that we will get boost to our weekly revenue, even if small, then I have no objections but before that, I think it is too soon.

And this is not even touching the fact that as an advanced magitech company we could probably make a better ship ourself which might be even cheaper.
>>
>>22234853
Which parts of the city are usually hit the worst?
>>
>>22234863
The lower district, the under city, and docks.
>>
>>22234871
Shit, our offices are there. We'd better prepare for that too.

Does the city have fire department? .... I think this was asked before but I'm not sure what the answer was.
>>
>>22234895
The upper city does. The rest of it works on the "everyone grab a bucket" system. Generally a crowd will gather to hep because they know if they don't the entire area is going up in flame.

Anyway, I need you guys to come to a decision. 5 more minutes until I start writing up the turn!
>>
In light of new info, work on making a fire department for the lower part of the city. Only it is like the roman fire department. We put out the fire and then you pay us a large sum.
>>
>>22234933
I think it would work better if we get the job from the government. People might get ideas otherwise and run a racket (no one is to stop someone else to make a fire department too if we do it, right?)
But I do support the fire department idea in general. Our elemntal suits would be perfect for them, if we install a portal to the plane of water (or similar) in the palms of those suits, it would be just perfect. And maybe invent some contraption that puts water in high-pressure so that we can shoot long streams of water. I imagine it would look like air-tanks on the back of the suit.

>>22234915
regarding to >>22234839
I really don't think it is the time to be working on airships and submarines.
>>
Five more minutes guys! I need people to put out what I am going to write the turn for! Right now I see three different sets of ideas.
>>
>>22235010
We're agreed on making holiday toys (toy-cars?), or improving what we have already.
I'll also support some counter-measures against fire, be it a fire department on the pay-roll of the government or just better protection for ourself. I think we need improve the suits for this either way, so lets do that.
>>
So the votes are:

Toy cars
Fire department(?)

I can't find any thing agreed apon besides these
>>
>>22234712
>Something Fishy (15 Tarllings per turn, occupies Kallen)

Didn't we hire 3 more employees for this in the previous thread?
>>
Rolled 1

>>22235085
Well, I'll just roll a dice for the other suggestions.
>>
>>22235137
Yes you did, never assigned them however.

===========

A large bowl of chocolates is left outside of the store. By this point the people of the docks have been getting wise of the terrifying ways the company gains new employees. They walk right past the bowl without even looking it's direction, which gives the perfect opportunity for Grac, hiding in the shadows, to conk them on the head and shove them into the "interviewing room".

==============

In addition to the golem Archibold gets the idea of creating a miniaturized version of the ECE engine. While it is difficult to scale them up scaling them down becomes easier simply at the cost of efficiency, though he does not think that will matter for children's toys. By the end of the week he creates several different tin toy cars that will drive around on their own.

===========

The Cloudswreath, the second most terrifying week of the year, next to the Baron's Birthday. Often large parts of the city burnt down, and even more regularly people killed each other over the most trivial of gifts. Thinking ahead Eric installs small portals to the alimental plain of water around the shops, ready to be activated in case the fires begin to bear down on them.

And flood the office, I pressume. We should modify them to be like modern sprinkle systems. And lets just do that this turn.

Okay, lets assign them now (I thought that would have been a given though)

Start producing and selling motorcycles at Eric's garage (do we need to make a separate job for this?).

D Make a few diving suits that have water portals in the wrists
D Work on making trains better
D submarines
>>
Ok, gonna need everyone to put some votes up to move this along.
>>
>>22235354
man, you really want that submarine, huh?

Would be probably better than a normal ship, we might even turn it into a cargo hauler. That would make it safer to travel from pirates and such
>>
In here. Didn't we invent the motorcycle last thread?
>>
>>22235456
See subs always are better than boats. Always.
>>
>>22235450

I don't think we need the submarine now, we will need to buy a bunch of facility the build and maintain them. It's not something we want to do without sponsor and i'd rather use our capital for other stuff.

There does not seem to be any conscious. I need a unified idea here guys.

to finish the motorcycle research then.
>>
Firefighter suits
Motorcycles
Submarine(can wait)
>>
>>22235648
Hmm, we agreed researching the suits and motorcycles.

honestly, I'm not too sure about the submarine. Yeah, it will be useful in the future but do we need it right now?
>>
Rolled 1

>>22235728
if this rolls a 1 we're going with submarines, if it rolls a 2 we're gonna research how to lower cost.
>>
Eric and Archibold get together to try out a new concept, just how the suits replenish air for the person inside, how about making that larger so than an entire ship could have replenished air? If this could be made possible then boats no longer had to be on the surface where they ran risk of pirate attacks. They begin drawing up ideas immediately, but soon after starting the problem of scale presents itself. This will take a fair amount of thought to get through.

=============

The research into motorcycles continue, and soon the first working models rolls out of the shop. A one wheel in the front, treads in the back monstrosity it has a sidecar that allows whoever rides it to take a passenger along if they so choose.

============

The submarine suits, already resistant to heat, as installed with shutter sealed elemental water portals on each palm. This will make it, if it comes to it, for the wearer to deal with fires far more effectively than a mere bucket train ever could.
>>
>>22235728
We'll do it step by step, we can start by researching ship engine, better ship design, cheaper diving suit design, safer an more reliable engine and bunch of other failsafes.

As you can see this will take time.

To prepare for the holiday season of horror Arhcibold send sour his employees to stalk up on everything from clean water to candles and requires everyone, from the day before to two days after the holiday, to stay in the shop's dormitories for their own safety and to rise to defend the shop if necessary.

==========

You gather together some employees and teach them how to use your new fire fighting suits, the five of them become proficient with rapid response, able to get into their suits in less than a minute. The portals slowly lose power over time, but for any normal sized fire they should be sufficient to protect the store.

==========

The motorcycles begin production in Eric's Garage. After half a dozen something odd begins to happen, while people look interested and a few are sold others seem nervous near them. Eventually two large men in suits come and ask about the motorcycles, wondering where they were manufactured and where the designed came from. Eric refused to answer questions, but noticed the insignia on their pockets. It was one of the large automobile companies in Top Town.

After Eric was accosted by the two men outside of his garage he decides to send a few of the employees up to go figure out exactly why they came to investigate the motor cycles. They return, one of them sporting a black eye, with the information that apparently the big automobile manufacturers do not exactly enjoy people infringing on their territory, and that they view the motorcycles a possible threat to their business. Three large companies control the industry, it was from the smallest Gir-tech that the two men were sent.

Archibold talks up on various products for the holiday rush of horrors. Windows are prepared for the bombardment of product starved individuals and wreath logs are prepared for the inevitable fires. The suits are improved to prepare for the days to come. The sun sets on the day before the holidays and already the bay of hungry shoppers fill the night. May the gods have mercy on their souls.

As the sun rises on Cloudswreath day all is come, until the sign on the front of the shop turns from closed to open. The insides of the store are swarmed and displays smashed. All in all the amount of many you made would probably be offset by the amount of things that were destroyed. The day wears on and doesn't improve, and eventually light can be seen across the city. The fires have started, and it appears one is heading for the store in the docks.

i guess we can start with sending some of our fir fighters to deal with the fire heading to the docks and work our way to the other fires in the city
>>
>>22236874
Scramble the fire response team.

Can we call firebro for help? Maybe try to absorb the flame?

>City on Fire
>Better call the guy MADE of fire

I'm sure it will help, if you want to go for it. Their salamanders (like the one Sarric rode) do actually eat fire.
>>
The fire fighting crew is scrambled and sent out to help deal with the fire. With their help most of the fires are dealt with soon, and many of the citizens see magitch saving their city and controlling their fire. Public opinion of magic tech has improved because of this event, good show for preparing (I would have burned you to the ground otherwise).

Splendid.

1. Search for an engineering company to buyout.
2. Let's ally ourselves to one of the big auto company, and if this fails...
3. Upgrade our suits, try to make it more viable for combat.

What's the public opinion on our motorcycle?
