I am the Chapter Master. You should not concern yourself with my name, for who I am is what I do, not how someone chooses to label me. By the will of the Emperor I command the finest Chapter to ever tread among the stars. I have no fear but to fail in the eyes of my brothers. Age of Ruin is on the horizon, Imperium is falling apart, I know it in my heart. I was blessed and cursed to live in time when the fate of our galaxy is being decided once more. I can just hope that my choices will be right. Ave Imperator et Imperium!

Aspera Dominus, Chapter flagship was trying to reach Tachion Primaris, Capitolis Sectorum, when a warp storm drove it offcourse and made forced it to return to real space somewhere near an ancient nest of Traitors, known as Olympia. This was once a world that belonged to Iron Warriors Legion. Chapter decided to explor ancient shipwrecks in Olympia's orbit, finding a dead Iron Warriors Captain and retrieving relic Thunderhammer known as Gatebreaker. However Chaplain Extatius with his brothers Kasperos, Harperius, Dorun and Sideon had to pay for this find with their lives. Soon after that Aspera Dominus was intercepted by a ship of Silent Guardians, who are determined to make Ghosts of Retribution to pay for trespassing in the space near forbidden world...

hey guys, i was thinking a bit, and came to the conclusion we need to expand our economic holdings.

Firstly, a fast, easy way to get cash is to offer protection to rogue traders. these guys, on top of having more money than the God-Emperor, could also introduce us to business deals, and point out nice, shiny inhabitable worlds we can colonize. we can then use chapter serfs to get resources out, and use them to get money and admech support.

Then having secured the admech, we can move to begin gaining ground in the Ecclesiarchy by getting our own canidates up and in their ranks.

our chapter is somewhat... vulnerable. we're young but we also can be dynamic as hell. let's use that to our advantage.

also: seconding Luigi's idea to contact Silencius.
>>
Also can we have a selection of marines to pass on Extatius' Crozius to?

I would also like to make an announcement. This quest doesn't have many players, doesn't create new memes and the threads we archive on sup/tg/ are barely noticed. However I love this quest and I am damn proud to have you as my players, for you are the most dedicated and loyal ques/tg/amers, better than anything I could ask for. But from time to time I have to show my extreme appreciation to some of you who go above and beyond common understanding of participation.

One of these people would be Lugi, who is about to make his 200 edit(199 currently). He not only maintains a terrible task of calculating Chapter statistics and dealing with status changes after our sessions, but he also quite often writes articles of his own and even created rules for creation of new space marines! When I saw the draft, changes from my side were only cosmetic, it was all his work. This way he gives me more time to spend on running the game instead of updating and I really value it. I'd like to award him with Aquila of Eternal Vigilance, as Luigi is worthy of it, for he is eternally vigilant when it comes to updating our wiki.

Another person would be Capital, or Cap for short. He is among the oldest followers, real first company veteran. I was planning to add him to the list of our honoured players for a long time, but today he gave me a real opportunity to do this - he spent his time and effort to provide me with an awesome map-making tool that I will use to create even better maps for the galaxy that you explore! Thank you, Capital, I'd like to add give you my special thanks and add you to the list of our best contributors on the main page of the wiki!

What the fuck kind of Space Marines act as bodyguards to Rogue Traders for money?

We are the emperor's wrath incarnate, his angels of death that strike into the deepest darkness to bring his light to the beleaguered warriors of men as their faith begins to crumble from the assault of horrors beyond this existence. We smite the foes of mankind with the power we've been granted in exchange for our humanity, and we bring hope when ammunition is nearly exhausted, faith where men waver, and we shall know only the fear our foes have for us. We are fucking Space Marines and we have not sacrificed everything to be fucking whores.

>This is Third Captain Akarmos of Silent Guardians. I am more than interested to know from where did you hear the name of Sictus Acenos. And I have some news to you regarding Master of Silence. But I believe that the best way for you to show your good will is to power down your weapon systems and shields, then allow us to inspect your ship. What will you say?

Macedon turns to you and whispers so that vox transmitter wouldn't hear it:
>Milord, we must not allow them to take a single step on our ship. If they find the relics from Iron Warriors ship... It'll end in disaster. This world was forbidden by the Inquisition. We had no right to be here.

Marines who act in the Good of the Empire. The traders bring wealth and fortune to our empire, and they provide vital information on events and locations beyond Imperial worlds.

And we need money to smite the foes of mankind. No rogue trader would approach us with anything that did not truly need marines to settle.

It would be along the lines of "donations" or something like that. We help the traders protect the Empire, and they give us money to cover "operating expenses".

For now you personally know at least one Rogue Trader - Dercius D'anger. Your relations aren't good, but they aren't bad either, and now you have a deal where he supports your homeworld by providing food for it.

You also have certain promises to keep with Merchants League, this could end up very badly or very well for you, depending on how you handle it.

Also, Brother Linnaeus has noted well, that for Chapter to have a strong grip on the sector, it's important to have strong influence in most powerful organisations. The way Chapter treats this question makes all the difference between Lamenters and Ultramarines(in terms of power).
>>
>>22305485
Ah yes....,the merchant league....

Tell us Skargan, how much wealth would it take to have Varda delivering it's gas shipments on time? This could be very lucrative for us.....
>>
>>22305467
Your powers surge into the warp and soon among the shards of broken futures you find your own. In all of them, Silent Guardians approach you cautiously and inspect your ship, but in some of them(very few) things go bad inside the ship and then they superior space combat skills of their captain to destroy your undefended ship. As you delve deeper, you realise, that if Silent Guardians will search your ship, they are almost guaranteed to find massive stocks of Iron Warriors geneseed and then they will try to bring you to justice. If you will not comply, they will treat you as heretics. You also see, that they will be hostile to any attempts to bribe them, but might be persuaded using a certain piece of information that you have. Unfortunately, when you try to dive even deeper to fish out what is it exactly that interests them, you fail and return to reality.
>>
>>22305575
Very well, I think we should let them in, openly informing them of the recovered Iron warriors geneseed.
>>
>>22305594

Clearly, you've never run a game of RT

If we're whoring out as guards, we're not only working jobs that require marines.

if a RT calls us up and says "hey there is something that requires marines here", we probably aren't going to be hired. If anything, it will be a threat we have to act on or information they want -us- to pay them for. Any RT worth his salt is going to find a way to make sure he doesn't have to put out money to get what he wants.

We aren't guardsmen, damn it.

>We aren't guardsmen, damn it.

Depends. There was actually a time when Chapter Master was contemplating about restoring Chapter to Legion strength, making it a fighting force not on sectorial, but on galactic scale. First step to that is that your Chapter is supposed to have 20 companies instead of 10, as your Strategium in Tombstone indicates:

http://chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Tombstone

On the other hand I don't remember which player was that who made this suggestion, so this idea might be dead. For me as GM this would be quite interesting to handle, so I won't say no. On the other hand I never do.

Question regarding Tombstone: which company is default garrison company?

We could also mention that our Gellar Field was damaged and we began our search as one for possible parts to salvage.

After all, its those damned parts you -can't- build in your ship's massive forges that usually leave you stuck!

Agreeing that we should be open with our findings, but not lower our shields until they've decided not to blow us to bits. Power down the weapons as a show of loyalty to the Imperium, though.

As soon as Akarmos steps onto your deck, he takes off his power helmet and smiles politely with just a tiny glint of suspicion.
>Brother Astartes! Good to see that Imperium has seen it wise to strengthen this region by sending you here. As I understand, you have already met some of my brothers and the name of Silent Guardians is known to you. I'll be glad to speak with you about anything you like, but only when we settle most important matters first. What you were doing here?

After you tell him your story, he looks you in the eye and answers:

>I trust you and value your honesty. Galaxy indeed is changing, when Astarte once more cannot fully trust his brother. Just recently we intercepted a ship of Space Wolves on penitence, in search of the traces of their Primarch, as they claimed. Bastards almost came to blows with us when we ordered them to leave the orbit of another forbidden world. Only later, when they left, a Rogue Trader we met told us that they were in search of ancient weapons for their armouries. You don't seem like that kind of a person, but putting blame to warp is the first answer in any captain's vocabulary. I won't persecute you regarding the breach of forbidden world. However I will have to report this incident to the Inquisition and we'll have to find a way to dispose of those items you retrieved from the shipwreck.

What do you answer?
>>

>This geneseed belonged to traitors! Are you mad!?
From the evidence we found on the ship, it looked as if a single marine holed himself up in the ship, he had set up a turret and seemed to protect the gene seed to his last.
There was no evidence that he was a Iron Legion member, he could have been a devout marine from ages past protecting the gene seed of his brothers.

that was supposed to be 100+1d50, but I'll take it this time. High Lords of Terra will issue you this money as soon as you get to Tachion Primaris.

Akarmos seems to have nothing else to say to you. What do you do? You still remember that you might have one piece of knowledge he might appreciate. But you know so many things...
>>
>>22307946
Does it have to do with the Emperors Children or are you just tugging muh dick?

Cast visions to see what knowledge he wants, concentrate, what might he want to know....

>Fated chapters....
>Anterion's connection to Silencius...
>Entyrus Zykion.....

What does he want to know?
>>
>>22307990
If I'd say, it would be too obvious.
>>22308000
Ingame less than a few hours have passed, so your powers are very weak, but you are pretty sure, that none of these things really concern him as he doesn't know about them and he'd just consider them to be lies.

good to have you onboard, Cawkasaurus. You may join us if you wish so here:

http://client00.chat.mibbit.com/?channel=%23RisingSons&server=irc.Rizon.net

We don't usually run so late, as it's 5 am at my place, but from time to time we do.

So, do you choose anything? You don't have to always pick the best decision, and this time the piece of information he wants is quite insignificant, so you have a very small chance of guessing it right, as there are almost no clues to that. Choice time?

WHAT DOES HE WANT TO KNOW?!?!?!

AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH

I will have to take some time before I make a decision.
Is there anything else in this system that you need?

>I need nothing in this system. My Company protects Forbidden worlds of Tyranus Subsector. We are constantly on the move, trying to help out Imperium whatever the way we can, while maintaining our main mission as top priority. However if you will hold us here for too long, we might not be able to intercept warnings from Inquisitorial beacons if someone else visits one of the other systems that we supposed to protect. All we want is to leave as soon as possible.
>>
We will secure the geneseed for transport, and give it to the other marines, then depart the system.

I assume, that there's still discussion regarding what to tell Akarmos on the chat. Will update soon.
>>
This is fantastic, all of you, posting from a shitty phone, but it's ok as I won't consider joining until I've done the proper reading. But as an observer, this is riveting.
Thanks for this, I'm literally chain smoking in my backyard going "Arrrg what does he want to know!?!?!?"
>>
>>22308710
Could someone please archive the thread while discussion is raging?
>>
Im guessing the bulk of conversation is in the mibbit chat?
>>
>>22309091
Yep.
Skargan is being a bitch and making it hard for us to guess.
Gee, he could give us a break considering we just had a world ravaged by Chaos Space Marines, and before that our home planet ravaged by sentient A.I's so badly we had to get everyone and their mother's to help it.
>>
I can only imagine the discussion.
One does not walk away from Geneseed.
Fffffffffuck.

Yeah, we still have no idea but we have a few clues.
>They want someone who stopped them from doing their mission.
>We know exactly where that person is and we've met them in the last few years.
>Their mission is to guard forbidden worlds in this sub-sector.

You fail at your attempts to cheat, just as Nerial does when trying to penetrate the shroud of the warp. Faceless cannot be reached.

>D'anger!? How did you..? Do you know him!? Where is he? Two years ago we have destroyed an illegal smuggling operation that had a base located on one of the worlds that were under quarantine. Stupid smugglers were trading in cursed archeotech, sending it all over the Sector, making half a dozen Inquisitors rip their hairs out. They had a rogue techpriest on their side who reprogrammed Inquisitorial warning beacons and we discovered them only because of intelligence supported by Quixos. But this thing still lies as a great shame on our souls, for we failed to do the one thing that we have been tasked to do... So where is he..?

>I... I am forced to agree. However if we ever meet again when you are meddling with the forbidden worlds under my protection - don't expect any exclusive rights. You and your Chapter are ready violate Inquisitorial orders and slander our greatest ally, while speaking about a heretic in friendly tone. Once this matter is settled, we both forget it. But this doesn't mean that we are friends or comrades by choice. As I understand you have contact with this D'anger. Please arrange him to be in the orbit of Mergido in half a year. We'll deal with him. But don't dare to cross us... You'll have our whole Chapter on your tail and Inquisition as a dessert.

What do you answer? What are your last action? If you travel somewhere, roll for warp travel.

Please archive ;)

Happy New Year everyone!
>>

Thank him heartily.
And reassure him at this was just a one-off chance event, and unless we are doing something from the Emperor's mouth itself we will not cross into another forbidden planet.

...where another surprise was already waiting for them. And Cegorach laughed in anticipation of what is to come...

Thanks for playing. See you next year!
