Excellent! This is my favorite of your two ongoing quests.

YOU ARE ALEX RASTON.

And you are the Core Whisperer.

Upon sharing this revelation with Elsie, she slaps you, and proceeds to freak out.

"Why the hell is your robot moving?" she asks, horrified.

"Fucked if I know, but I'm not sure it's panic worthy." You respond easily, moving in to inspect the damage. Thankfully, it's minor. It won't need surgery.

"Surgery?" Elsie asks, incredulous. "Alex, is this really the time for jokes."

"If I've lost the ability to form an internal monologue, then yes. I'd say this is a panic worthy situation." you respond, walking away from the core. "Stay Boy, I'm gonna go get the robot-doctor."

Mooch is easy to find, running from Ken you casually snag him and ask him to explain what's up with your robot.

"Huh." He says as it looks at him, before walking to a nearby console and running some sort of program. "Alright, that's weird."

"Weird how?"

"It's not showing any of the higher patterns that my core does." He responds, giving it a look.

"What does that mean?"

"Functionally? It's about as smart as an attack dog." He responds turning to you. "Which makes no sense."

I stop and look at him. "It's a big stompy killbot, why does it not having human-level intelligence not make sense?"

"Because the design of your core's central computing systems are based on mine. Therefore, it should be showing similar patterns."

"And your robot is smarter than mine?"

"Well, it's not quite that simple. There's a complex series of fractal algorithms that-" He hesitates, realizing the technobable is soaring way above my head. "Right sorry. My robot is smarter, for certain values of 'smart'."

"So what does that mean? Why is it weird?"

"Well, It doesn't fit the established neural pattern." I stare at him. "Alright, it's not the right... shape. Like let's say it's supposed to be a bottle. Mine is a full bottle. Ari's, Dave's, Laurie's, Elsie's..... Empty bottles." He says with a gesture around the Hangar. "So that leaves your core. It was a bottle, we poured water into it, and it spontaneously turned itself into a martini glass."

"Weird." I comment, having nothing else to say.

"Beyond weird. Incomprehensible." Mooch says, looking over the technical readouts. "This is like finding out gravity only works if we THINK it does, and just taking off into the sky on a whim."

"That big a deal?"

"This is contradicting most traditional computing thought since Alan Turing." He responds.

[ ] Ask something else (What?).

"Does this affect anything? Do I need to buy the kill bot a birthday cake, or get a huge ball and play fetch in the middle of the desert?"

"No...." Mooch says, giving me a weird look.

"Then I believe this can wait until morning?"

"I guess? Honestly, might be a good idea not to fly it until we know what's going on." Mooch comments. "I mean, we were figuring on a few days worth of downtime anyway. I'll let you know." He finishes weakly, slowly turning all his attention back to the computer.

I walk up the stairs and Elsie joins me. We get to our room and.... "That's really weird with your core." She says, as she undresses for bed.

"Yeah. I suspected something, but I was wrong about it. Also, that raises more questions as far as what happened with those weird dreams...."

"Yeah, I guess." She comments, sitting on the bed. "Long day."

"Kinda, yeah."

"Next time we take a day off, you and I are sneaking off somewhere. No more of that girly crap."

"What, not lacy enough for your tastes, El?"

"NO MORE!" She mock roars, dragging me into bed to... cuddle. I kinda thought she was going somewhere else with that, but whatever.

The night passes in an exhausted blur. The next morning after I take a shower and see Mooch preparing breakfast.

"What'cha cooking?" I ask, not yet completely awake.

"I'm ma-"

"No." Dave says.

"But-"

"Mooch, if you sing that song one more time, I shall be forced to kill you."

I look at the stove. "Are you... putting bacon inside pancakes?"

Yup. Sixth-grade, I think. She encouraged me to write, but she was really grognardy about what counted as writing.

She thought I'd eventually 'grow' up from writing fantasy and move onto a 'real' genre. I suppose I did, I moved from 'fantasy' to 'speculative fiction as a whole'. And also erotic fiction, but I don't talk about that.

You take a second to evaluate the situation, and decide to excuse yourself from it.

Grabbing the phone you step out of the kitchen and answer it. "Hello?"

"Alex." Dervish not quite greets. "Is Mooch available? I need to speak with him for a second."

"Alright." You respond, tossing him the phone.

Mooch catches it easily. "Hello?" There's a full fifteen seconds of silence before Mooch's face splits in an insane smile. "I HAVE WAITED MY ENTIRE LIFE FOR THIS PHONE CALL!" He cries joyously, before slamming the phone down and SPRINTING out of the room. You see him rushing across the hangar with a pair of duffel bags to an old box-van he's been using to haul parts.

You briefly wonder how panicked you should be as he speeds out of the hangar on squealing tires.

And this is obviously the best idea you've ever had, even if Steve disagreed. He's probably just cranky about shooting him with a dart gun.

"What the hell kind of plan is this?"

"Dervish said he needed me to go downtown. He said I needed to be as distracting as possible, for as long as possible."

"Alright, but that doesn't fully explain why you expect me to rob a bank dressed like the Riddler."

"That's because we need to grab two more members to complete our party. We have Wizard and a Rouge. We need a Tank and a Healer."

".... What in the high holy FUCK are you-"

"OH! HE LOOKS BIG!" you exclaim, pointing a to a man roughly the same size as a shaved grizzly who's just leaning on a building. "YOU!" You scream, leaning out the window as the car slams to a stop. "Do you want to have an adventure?"

"Danger and high excitement?" The man asks in a chipper tone of voice.

"OF COURSE!"

"Let me get my bag!" He exclaims. He goes inside and returns with a crate, and a smaller man following him. "Fraide, please don't do anything stupid."

"I'll live." He responds calmly climbing in the van.

"That's not what concerns me. What concerns me is the inevitable mountain of paperwork."

"Concern noted and ignored." The large man says as he slams the door shut. "So what now?" He asks you as you speed off.

"We need more Dakka." You state calmly, driving to the house of a friend of a friend. Dervish gave you a number and an address.

The phone rings. "Hello? Stinger Tech, Allison speaking."

"Hi, this is Mooch. I need to talk to Danny."

There's a pause, and a man answers the phone. "Danny O'Conner, this is... Mooch?"

"Yeah, Dervish said that you would help me if I told you he'd forget about that thing that happened in Memphis."

There's a brief pause. "Alright, what's the play?"

"I need as much C4 as you can put into a duffel-bag, and meet outside your place of business, ready for adventure."

"Well, I don't know what's going on, but I already love this plan." He says with a laugh. "Meet you our front in five."

You'll have to break the speed limit to get there that fast. You're going to be breaking a lot of things today.

Danny leaps in the car, and you look back to view your team. Steve's already wearing his greens, and Fraide has donned full SWAT armor with a Poncho and a Sombrero on top. The 'SWAT' On the shield has been replaced with a cheerful 'HOLA' and he's holding a sawn-[off shotgun in his other hand.

Danny looks at everyone and merely comments "I didn't know this was a costume party." before taking the T-shirt he was wearing under his lab-coat off and fashioning it into a ninja mask.

You slide on your Purple Kevlar duster and novelty mask. Fraide gives you an odd look. "You have a mask that looks like your face?"
>>
>>22388233

"Fuck yeah, who doesn't want to be Mooch?"

You then pull into the banks parking lot. From hacking the traffic cams, you know there's a fat-dude with an Ice Cream van taking a nap out back.

"Alright, we need a plan." You remark. Steve and Danny give you concerned looks. Fraide gives you a 'concerned blank reflective visor'.

After a tense moment, Steve shrugs. "Go in the front, kick their asses and take their shit?"

"We have two hundred and fifteen pounds of C4." Danny corrects.

"We have a fucking lot of C4." You continue. "Lets use it."

"Alright, how about this then. We set the van to drive the other way as we get out and blow it up a couple blocks away as a distraction." Steve elaborates. "We blow open the vault, and blow the back wall. We grab as much as we can, and then jack the Ice Cream truck."

"You want to steal an Ice Cream truck?" Danny asks, appalled.

"He's a fat dude, probably eats more of his own than he gives to kids. Besides, then we have an entire van's worth of Ice-Cream to eat as we make our escape."

"Exactly. Maybe we can bring the ice-cream man over to our side?" Your brain kicks into over-drive, imagining the possibilities. "Maybe some midgets? AND SOMEONE DRESSED LIKE BATMAN!"

"Mooch? This would take slightly more time than the five minutes we have before someone notices the van full of freaks in the parking lot."

"Damn." You comment. "How could we make this more flashy then?"

"Here's a plan." Danny comments. "I have a sack full of chaff and flash grenades. We toss in a few of those when we enter and a couple more before we leave, and it'll look like the back was robbed by a literal wall of light and sound."

"Can we combine this with Steve's plan?"

"Of course."

"Fraide?"

"I would suggest getting rid of the money quickly. I know a guy who'll trade us Helicopters for their worth in Cocaine."

"And I know a guy who sells coke in bulk." Danny comments."

"We're going to rob a bank, stuff an ice-cream van full of cocaine, and then use this to buy a helicopter." Steve says slowly, looking around. "Then what?"

".... Improvise?" You hazard after a moment.

"How fucking crazy are you people?"

"Won't know till we get there." Danny responds. "Allison's going to fucking kill me when she finds out how I spent my day." He then sticks a chunk of C4 to the floor of the van. "Annnd timer activated. We have five minutes before the boom."

'Tim' sets the charges quickly, while 'Wheeler' and 'Blues' attempt to corral the witnesses. 'Tim' gets both charges set and right as you all take cover, he looks at you wide-eyed.

"We didn't disable the alarms."

"We also forgot to lock the hostages in." You note as a stream of them charge past you and into the open outside. The van explodes in the distance, while the vault blows itself open.

Before it's even settled on the ground the four of you are already running past the door and stuffing as much money as possible into the empty duffel bags, waiting for the second charge to go off. As soon as it does, the four of you are charging the Ice-Cream van through the hole in the wall.

"Hello? Ringo's drug delivery service, you got the ill we have a pill."

"Mooch?" Laurie's voice comes over the coms. "Alex is trying to find the quickest way for us to leave the country, and I figured I'd talk to you while Dave tried to calm him down."

"No shit? What's got into him?"

"He said something about you 'finally going off the deep end'. What did you do to him?"

"Nothing, I just went to perform some favors to a friend." you turn to Fraide. "Hey, Wheeler, do you see a Burger King around here? I'm hungry and feel like a crown would complete my look."

"Pretty sure there's one off of Bulwark." He tells you.

"Is that Fraide? Why are you not using real names?" Laurie asks, confused. There's some noise in the background. "Wha- Alright, Mooch, tell me you aren't doing anything too crazy."

"By my standards?" You hesitate, thinking. "Well, if I'm totally honest, I've done worse."

"That doesn't help me at all." your friend tells you, concerned. "In fact it scares me more, with the whole 'bank robbery' on the news."

"I made the news?"

"....what." Laurie not quite asks. "You didn't-"

"Relax, it was one of my dad's shell ones. I'm pretty sure stealing money from the mob counts for good karma in the long term."

The silence if deafening. "Alright, so what are you doing now?"

"Getting something to eat since I skipped breakfast. After that, more reckless heroism."

"Burger King!" Danny yells pointing at a sign. It's a sure sign of how awesome Vegas is when nobody even gives the newly crowned Burger King, a medical ninja, the Riddler, and a walking insult to Mexico a second glance.

"What?" you ask.

"Cops behind us. I've been rolling with Dervish long enough to know when we've been made."

Sure enough the lights come on a few moments later.

"Wait, you guys know Dervish?" Fraide asks surprised as you slam home on the gas. The only thing not related to driving on your mind right now is the cold certainty that you're too small to be anything other than someone's prison bitch.

>Chase scene!

[During evasion attempts such as chase scenes/stealth missions, there's a series of opposed rolls involved. There needs to be a certain level of successes/failures on what resembles a game of tug-o-war. To get away requires that you climb high enough on the ladder to 'win', but every success your opponent scores knocks you down a peg. Certain other skill checks can be performed to try and give situational modifiers/advantages, as appropriate by the GM's discretion.]

When does the GM decide that the chase has gone on long enough and picks an appropriate outcome?
Not trying to sound like an asshat, but this kind of roll off could go on forever, as you've described it.
>>
>>22424437
If I'm reading it right (and AC-Guy, correct me if I'm way off base here), think of it as a measure of distance from pursuit. The chase ends either when the pursuer catches up, or the pursuee puts enough distance between them.
>>

>>22424407

>Based off what Danny's used so far, somewhere in the range of sixty to seventy pounds.

>You aren't sure on detonators though.

>>22424437

>Well, there's some things that can affect it. I'm hesitant to set things in stone, but if you stay on a cop's radar long enough in the middle of town, eventually the rolls are going to get significantly harder due to more cops/resources going towards the chase. Especially if your attempts at escaping are destructive and high-profile.

>Running from some dude in the woods the might eventually decide to just give up on chasing you, or something.

>As is, this game's even less finished than it was due to data-loss. I'm winging the fine points, but I can see how it could be a concern.
>>
>>22424478

>Well, yes. At least a metaphorical distance thing, but if one car's chasing another and they're both going the same speed, it's a question of fuel economy more than driving skill.

>It's a worthy concern, but not one I'm prepared to confront directly.

Since we can mold C-4 into lots of different shapes, I say we make a big C-4 donut and roll it out the back of the van at our pursuer.

You look back at the cops, a lot closer on your bumper than you'd like. And you know enough from working with your father that pretty soon they're going to send in the choppers.

"Ride's too hot." Steve comments. "We need to ditch it ASAP."

"Yeah, but that's not gonna do us any good if they see us make the switch." Fraide yells as he loads another foam grenade.

"FUCK IT." You yell, thinking fast. "Throw everything!"

"What?" Danny asks confused.

"Danny, drop the caltrops. Steve, throw more ice cream. Fraide, hit'em with a flash."

You then see a risky option. There's a parking garage for a mall ahead. You could swap cars there, or just ditch the money and walk away from the crazy schemes. You have to have gotten at least an hour for Dervish already, even if you DO have some good ideas for what's next.

Either way, there's the immediate pursuit to worry about.

You watch as the rapid barrage quickly makes the cop lose control of the car and spin out into a pile of garbage. By the time he begins to recover, you're gone.

You drive into the parking garage and strip off your conspicuous heist gears, stowing them in bags. As the others load the gear and loot into a convenient box-van, you roll under the Ice Cream truck and remove the fuel-tank. A few doses of carefully applied gasoline destroys what little DNA evidence that might've been left behind, and the fire quickly dealt with everything else.

New ride secured, you continue onto your destination unmolested, though Danny does note that the police were flipping out over the garage that you left. He knew this because he was already erasing the security footage.

Soon you find yourself at the dealer's house, and he trades you the drugs. As you leave, Steve turns to the rest of you.

"I'm out. Seriously, it was fun, but unless we do something a lot less risky then I'm not gonna keep helping you guys."

"Dude, we're doing this for Dervish." You respond.

"I am fully aware. And I'm saying that he wouldn't tell me to rob a bank."

"You know." Danny says. "We don't have to technically break the law to do something stupid and distracting."

"Meh." Fraide responds. "Unless I'm caught with my hand in the cookie jar I'm good. Even then Frost'll just be upset with me because he hates killing witnesses."

>Plans?

Buy that helicopter and improvise from there.
>>
>>22427678
Trade the coke for the chopper and start buzzing towers while blaring the theme from Top Gun through a massive stereo system?
>>
>>22427678
Let's do the trade chain we though of earlier, we need a helicopter and to launder the money.
>>
>>22427729
Thats both distracting and incredibly obnoxious. I like it!

Best part is we don't need the other guys for it, so they can walk away if they've gotten cold feet.
>>
>>22427678

Here's my suggestion.

Get the helicopter, and whatever additional money we can. Settle for a less than amazing chopper.

buy as much porn as we can with the remaining funds.

Accidentally lose the porn right over the Vegas strip.

Thousands of illicit images raining down over sin city, like a fucked up pornographic snow-globe.

Plenty distracting, and not very illegal other than maybe paying a fine for littering.

Excellent, voting for this. And we can still blare the theme from Top Gun while we're at it.

"Alright, points made." You respond, thinking. "No more really dangerous stuff. We get rid of the Cocaine, and then we stick to stupid and high profile, not dangerous until further notice."

"Alright." Steve responds calmer. "We covered our tracks well enough with the bank thing?" He asks, getting into the van.

"Reasonably." Danny responds. "I'm not really sure how we could have done better, other then that part where we accidentally released all the hostages."

"Yeah." Fraide says with a laugh. "On a plus side, we did get to take an ice-cream van through a car chase. How many people get to say that?"

The four of you share a laugh as you take your stolen van full of Cocaine to buy a helicopter.

You even give the guy a sweetheart deal, securing enough additional capital to replace the van you destroyed going into the bank and several thousand dollars besides.

"So what are we gonna do now? Go home?" Danny asks.

"Nah. I got one more idea." You respond. "Though it will take all of the money we just made."

"What's the plan?"

It's almost an hour later that the four of you get arrested for accidentally dumping 'enough printed titties to blot out the sun' and have to wait for various parties to bail you out of prison.

You were, of course, smart enough not to call your wife.

YOU ARE ALEX RASTON.

And the only thing keeping you from planning to kill Mooch in the cell is Elsie's insistence that packing a gun into a police station is a terrible plan.

Waiting in the lobby, you can see tony, as well as that other Alex that works with Fraide.

The only other person worth noting is a red haired woman with glasses and a very cross look on her face waiting impatiently.

Soon, a blond haired man with proud stubble and a cocksure swagger wanders in. He looks so perfectly at home flanked by cops who could play the defensive line in the NFL wearing handcuffs that you almost don't recognize him.

"Isn't that the guy we saw arguing with Nine-Ball on T.V. that one time?" Elsie asks.

"I think it is." you respond, wondering why he's here.

He spots the red-head and winces. "Allison. I thought I asked Claire to post bail and not, you know, let you know that I was arrested."

"You did. Claire knew better." She responds, glaring at him with a single twitching eyebrow.

"Oh damn." The blond man says, turning to the cops on either side of him. "not sure I learned my lesson yet. You should put me back into custody."
>>
>>22428215

"Daniel Fergus O'Conner." She says in a tone so icy you can feel the chill run up your spine from across the room. You note that Tony and the other Alex have both turned to regard her as well. "I posted bail, and until further notice, I OWN YOU. Now we're going to go back to the lab, and you're going to explain why you thought it was a good idea to buy a helicopter and air-drop porn on the Vegas strip accompanied by total strangers."

As he's lead from the building by the imminent threat to his testicles, he turns to regard the rest of Mooch's apparent posse and boldly asks if they were good for the same time next week.

Fraide tells his partner that he'll pay what's due, but no force on earth will make him sorry.

Steve and tony merely stare at each other for about thirty seconds before Steve apologizes for not bringing him along and forcing one of their other friends to bail them both.

Finally, you're alone with Mooch.

"There's a perfectly valid reason for all this that I can't tell you." he states calmly.

[ ] Hear him out.
[ ] Tell him that Morgan wants to hear it.
[ ] BEAT HIM.
[ ] TELL MORGAN TO BEAT HIM!

"I'm listening."

"I told you that I can't tell you."

"Oh, we have ways of making you talk." Elsie responds before grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and dragging him outside.

"Ah help! Someone!" He yelps as the two of you throw him in the back of the team's main SUV.

"Speak." Elsie commands, and he sighs.

"Alright. Call from Dervish this morning? He said he was calling in what we owed him for the various favors he's done for us. He was cashing it all in for me to be as distracting as possible for a couple of hours."

"That's it?" You ask disappointed."

"That's it. He said something about needing to settle accounts."

The three of you return to the base, and when you do, there's three clearly labeled FBI vehicles in front of the building. "Circle around?" Elsie suggests.

Mooch sighs. "They already know who we are or we wouldn't have gotten this close. Pull over or we get gunned down, probably."

"Really?" Elsie asks, turning to him.

"Technically Hope's militia counts as a PMC. As registered and known mercenaries they will immediately resort to lethal force to contain us. Any other measures kinda fall flat against the threat of giant robots."

You decide not to risk it and simply pull over. Upon entering the building, several men in suits are standing around. Some are talking to people, some are simply... hovering.
>>
>>22428643

As the door closes one walks over to you. "Alex Raston?"

"Yes?"

"Agent Lynch, FBI." He says with a crisp nod, and then pulls out a small slip of paper with a photo of Dervish. "This man is a known associate of yours. What do you know about his activities over the last 72 hours?"

>Agent Lynch, FBI
In 1972 the ribs of a 4chan poster were sent to prison by a military court for a joke they didn't expect. These ribs promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire Asukafag's ribs.

But seriously, we make like Schultz

""The last 72 hours? I don't really know what he's been doing."
If I remember the timeline right this is a basically honest answer.
>>
>>22428743
He's asking about Dervish, not Mooch.
>>
>>22428650
"No idea Mr. Lynch. I'm sorry I can't help you."
>>
"Virtually nothing." I answer. "I mean, we've spoken a handful of times over the last few weeks and he seemed nice enough. I don't really know that much about him thought."

"When was the last time you spoke with him?"

"This morning?" I say with a shrug. "He called to ask a couple of questions from Mooch. Mostly boring tech stuff by the sound of it."

"I see." He turns to speak with Mooch, who spews some techno-babble about synch ratio performance degradation. After listening politely and nodding along, he turns to you. "Then you know nothing about him from the last few years?"

"No. First time I ever met him was in that tournament just recently."

"Right." He says, with a nod, before straightening up. "This man in the picture we know several aliases for. Of the ones we know, we're certain of 15 deaths connected to him in the last few days, starting with the heads of the Castagna family, Joseph and Gerardo Castagna. We also have suspicions that he either is, or is directly connected to, an individual known as 'The nowhere Man'. Wanted War Criminal, with a total price on his head from various world governments estimated to amount to just under two hundred billion dollars."

I choke on the air for a split second. "Are you fucking serious?"
>>
>>22428937

"Indeed. And seeing as how this is shocking to you...." He taps a bead just outside his ear and his men begin slowly working their way out the door. "If you find out anything, let us know. The United States government would gladly compensate you for your help." He hands you a copy of his card before leaving with a respectful nod. A few minutes after everyone leaves, Ken sweeps the hangar for bugs and the team is sitting around the table upstairs.

"Suddenly my adventure today seems like less 'wacky hijinks' and more 'seriously evil deeds'." Mooch comments.

>What do?
>>
>>22428758
Oh, my bad.
>>
>>22428949
"Maybe, but you had fun doing it so that's something.

So, the real question is how badly do you want me not to tell your wife about you distributing a veritable rain of pornography over Vegas?"
>>
>>22428949
So Mooch. Cough up. Hush money. Either you pay up, or I rat out Project Tittietwister to Morgan.

Guys, I wouldn't go buying Lynch's "war criminal" line just yet. We should definitely look into it, but later we should talk to Dervish about it, not just skulk around looking him up behind his back.
>>
>>22429051
We should avoid contacting or trying to contact Dervish unless we absolutely have to. Not because we don't trust him, but because the FBI are probably keeping an eye on us.
>>
>>22429064
Well obviously. I meant after this blows over, so we don't do the classic "stop trusting somebody because a source of questionable reliability planted a seed of doubt" thing.
>>
>>22429076
Well of course not. Who do you think we are, Ougi and the Black Knights? Its still a good idea to get as much info as we can instead of standing around doing nothing.

>>22428949
we should do something to fuck around with the FBI, ya know put Mooch's Crazy to good use and what not
>>
"Alright, so other than Mooch's antics giving money for my grandchildren to go to college, anyone else have something to contribute?" you ask, looking at the assembled team.

"Dervish didn't seem evil to me." Ari comments. "I mean, he just didn't give off a back-stabbing asshole vibe."

"To be fair, he would be pretty terrible at it if you could see it coming." Dave comments. "I don't like this either though. I mean, we had a couple of vague hints that he wasn't 100% on the up and up, but.... warcrimes? Two hundred billion dollar bounty?"

Laurie sighs. "Yeah. Crazy to think someone like that could've been right there the whole time."

"You believe them then?" Mooch asks.

"I'm not sold either way." He responds. "Honestly, I'm curious as to whether or not he's actually worth that much."

".... So you could turn him in?" Ari asks, incredulous.

"Yes, actually. If's he's really an evil war-criminal he should be in jail or something. And Us turning him in.... That's game over. We win. We have hope back, we have Hope back ten times better than it was, and we could all live like kings for the rest of our lives on top that."

Dave shrugs. "Honestly, I think we owe him a chance to explain himself before we call the cops down on him. Assuming we even know what the fuck happened to him."

"Agreed." Ari says. "But that still leaves what we do now."

"It's only three in the afternoon." Dave says. "I vote everyone but Mooch gets the rest of the day off."

[ ] Agreed.
[ ] No.
[ ] First...

"Agreed." I say with a sigh, thinking about what I'm going to do next, which is when Elsie catches my eye. The look she's giving me tells me that she already has some sort of plans in mind.

Laurie says something about going to see his Brother and Kate, and Dave leaves. With your sister.

Yeah, that's gonna take a while to get used to.

Ken wanders in a moment later. "We're bug free boss." He informs you. "Also, I worked on some of core data while You guys were panicking over whatever Mooch was doing." He opens up a small console and sets it on the table in front of you, tapping a few buttons on the controls. "It doesn't seem like your core has the same level of sentience that Mooch's does. It does however have some weird reading in the system."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning it has partial locomotive control." He responds. "It can't really do the higher function stuff, or even pretend to hold it's own in a fight, but it's fully capable of walking around on its own."

"Well that's.... horrifying." you comment after a moment's consideration. "So my core is.... not people? Like mentally handicapped or something?"

"More like a really angry warhorse." Ken says, looking over the data. "Or at least, that's a more accurate metaphor. If you assert dominance in the synch it'll listen and probably make you a better pilot. Other than that...." He shrugs. "We left charted waters behind a while ago."

"Well, better than we had." Elsie comments. "You taking the day?" She asks Ken.
>>
>>22429629

He seems thoughtful. "Might as well. Met a girl in passing a couple days ago, might give her number a ring."

"Have fun." You tell him with a smile, and he leaves. "Sooo...." turning to Elsie. "What shall we do?"

"We shall have dinner, and then go to a movie to make up for you feeding me to the estrogen brigade." She answers. "After that, we'll see."

"Bit early for dinner." you hazard.

"Eh. We'll figure out some way to kill time." She says with a smile that makes you.... incredibly nervous.
>>
'This isn't good."

'The situation can be turned to our favor, brother.'

'How? He killed them and he disappeared. He killed so many valued assets and now he's GONE.'

'Brother? Are you alright?'

'We're going to lose this. The girl is useless, and the boy's been neutered.'

'But-'

'No buts. We shall have to find another way.'

'Another way? But this isn't-'

'No. It's already too late. Too late for them, certainly. But perhaps not for us.'
