I'm drunk eh and bored at a party. Help me be anti-social /tg/ your my only hope!

One thing preposterous. Three vetoes to kill a post.

I'll start. The major gods live in a land made of dreams.
>>
Each gods have their own "dream" so each will exist in different realm.
>>
i fked ur mum
>>
>>22408772
Per post I mean! Not preposterous!
>>
>>22408784
Who let /v/ in?
>>
Twins are born with only one soul

Also captcha says; mylude costers
>>
The world is flat.
>>
Telling tales is a form of magic and if told good enough create illusions which can also affect the realty.
>>
>>22408841

Its edges get non euclidean, this change makes the edge of the world.
>>
>>22408850
So all magic users are slightly bards?
>>
>>22408862

Marks, not makes.
>>
>>22408873

No, all bards are magic users, that does not mean all magic users are bards.
>>
Rare but random mass "magic" energy storms that pull magic from the area and the living creatures and leaves wide spread destruction. (the lack of magic in the area is restored after a few days and the storm lasts minutes)
>>
>>22408886
No. The latent magic of the world can be influenced by strong belief or convincing tale. The bards themselves are not magic, but the land reacts magically to them.

This also means religions can will their own deities into existence.
>>
>>22408904

There are small will o wisp like creatures that feed on and show up moments before the magic energy storms.
>>
most of the prime material plane is a desert. The desert itself is overtop of a huge underground space which has its own fake sun. The underground is much like earth with its own terrains and landscapes. most of the people live on the desert surface oblivious to the under the sand world.
>>
>>22408904
This is supposedly due to an emergence or nightmare of a strong psionic. Most anyone with psychic powers hides them for this reason.
>>
>>22408945
The center of the world for totes has dinosaurs. Only makes sense.
>>
Anyone who performs gains bardic abilities. There are bonuses for harmonizing/symphonics. These performances must be LARPed.
>>
There is a city build of coral that exists without water. The creatures who live there are like oversized parasites but share a symbiotic relationship with the coral itself.
>>
>>22408907
This also marks the change from the material realm to the dream realm.
>>
Mages age themselves when they cast magic, due to the stress it causes their bodies.
>>
Anyone else think that /tg/ should come together and create a huge setting with tons of detail and submit it to wizards of the coast to see if they'd ever print it up?
>>
>>22408945
high above the desert, whales swim through the air, as easily as they would through water
>>
Sounds can create barriers for everything even magic if created right.

This thread so far

Acid Trip : The World
>>
>>22408998
Agreed mostly due to rejection from a pretty girl and copious amounts of alcohol. Op here btdubs
>>
>>22409003

Above where the whales swim there are small islands, which look up too the whales, and the land below them.
>>
>>22409014
What's a good and easy to learn system to play this with so far.
>>
The prime material plane, since it is say 98% desert on the surface has twelve suns that have never truely allowed a night. The "planet" also has copious amounts of moons circling it giving at random times solar eclipses creating a fake nighttime affect.

This is why the older civilizations lived underground and transformed the underground into a large almost utopic area with many landscapes.
>>
Everybody can use magic. Wizards can create new magic.
>>
>>22409034
That's where the original elves live, called the winged ones. The ones that you actually meet grew from the non-psychics that were thrown down.
>>
there are the hollow ones a tribe of nomadic dessert dwellers who are resistant to most forms of magic, instead of a face they have a hole which they cover up with masks and every step of them creates a hollow sound disbanding any magic around them.
>>
>>22409034
these islands are sometimes close enough that the inhabitants have been able to bridge the gaps between them and form large cities that span whole archipelagos
>>
>>22409042
Since most people already know it I'd go with D&D. Simple things can be added (homebrew rules).

I imagin FATAL could be used for this very well as well.
>>
>>22409042
FATAL.
>>
Souls come from the dream lands. When someone sleeps their souls attempt to go back and this creates dreams.
>>
The most powerful thing/being in the setting is a very large tree, its branches reach beyond the islands in the sky, no one has gotten close to the "top"
>>

>>22409090
>>
>>22409069
all of the winged ones possess the inherent ability to slow their falls to the point where they can fall any distance comfortably, a rare few can reverse this power to levitate
>>
>>22409073

It is possible to craft boats and sail from island to island.
>>
Where the whales swim is a gravity neutral zone so to speak. Everything in that area is boyant and their will is what moves them. On either side of the neutral zone the forces of gravity exist, both going in opposite directions. Thus why the islands can sit upside down to the actual "ground" of the "planet"
>>
Huge trees are over used. How about a small bush but it's roots are huge and spread further and deeper than anyone knows.
>>
>>22409098
That tree is actually the only plant on the surface. Every other plant grew from a seed of it. Or so the scholars say. Most villages need to get bark/leaves/seeds of that tree in order to keep there "town tree" alive for food along with the crops that somehow react to it also.
>>
>>22409107
Dont give that look dude, FATAL has a VERY big set of tables and rules for nearly everything, not just sexual content.
>>
>>22409098
the most intelligent mortal being is an ancient sky-whale, rumored to be the first, who is nearly immortal, and leads a pod of his students around the sky in search of a way to truly become immortal
>>
>>22409111
In fact the winged ones have no wings. Only metallic vanity pieces.
>>
>>22409161
>>22409098

The tree is no one type of plant, and changes over time. Fruits, leaves, branches and bark, can all change making the tree different plants.
>>
>>22409152
I agree with this anon

Huge tree's are stupid.

I dont agree with any plants being like that though. Why not something more sterile as the life giving object. Like a massive metal obelisk or some super future tech machine that no one knows how to use.
>>
>>22409166
Dragons are said to be the children of the betrayers of the great blue whale, cursed to never fly as high as the whales but given wings to taunt them
>>
>>22409185
well, they are just the elven progenitors after all, they're just called the winged ones, and it goes to their heads sometimes
>>
>>22409199
Why not a bed made out of stone?
>>
>>22409219
That works as well.

Trees or plantlife as a lifegiving object is just really overused.
>>
>>22409199
How about a combo. A metal obelisk that causes things to grow around it. Vines crawl all over it, an entire school of scholars have been trying to figure out what the language of the vines says. Maybe that's what magic is. The language of the vines.
>>
>>22409212
for indeed, at the beginning of the world, the great blue whale nearly ascended to godhood, but was betrayed by his draconic allies?/children?/friends? and so he cursed them as such
>>
There are legends of sandworms, they are false, no such creature exists.
>>
>>22409237
That works as well. The obelisk gives off life forming radiation of some sort.
>>
Magic is very common in the majority of the world. Almost everyone knows a few useful rituals. Powerful magic is more rare.

The difference betweena wizard and a sorcerer is that sorcerers use magic and wizards discover new magic. Kind of like the difference between an engineer and scientist.
>>
>>22409237
>>22409250

Can we wrap the obelisk in a constantly mutating tree that roughly matches the description above? All plant life seems to have come from the tree, the power that produced that plant life is actually the obelisk?
>>
>>22409266
I like that. Maybe vin language is common or a few quotes, but wizards are the ones who know the actual language.
>>
In the underground area of the ancient races there are carekeepers. Large golems of magic and machine which endlessly repair the old cities and the lost technology that keeps the artificial sun working.
These golems are completelly oblivious to everything but fixing the cities. They are immune to all forms of magic and displace themselves from physical threats. Hauntingly quiet they make zero sound.
>>
>>22409266

That's two dude, but they are fine.

Magic can be done without any speaking, but it takes a great deal more metal fortitude, and the strain the places on the body is much greater than the alternative.
>>
>>22409238
The great blue whale doesn't really care about anyone besides psychics cause they have an actual connection to the realm of the gods. But if you can find him you get one question answered to it's fullest.
>>
>>22409293

The way to capture or otherwise affect the golems is through the use of sound. As above
>>22409005
>>
>>22409293
Like the polar opposite of the underdark it's he safet place underground. Dwarves give visitors a warm welcome. The only threat are Black Spiders, a bandit group of elves so large it's practically a race.
>>
>>22409321
yeah, that's kind of what i was going for, ancient sage/guru fellow who will answer questions, if
A) He is interested in you for some reason
B) You take on a series of absolutely ridiculous quests
>>
I just realized a contradiction here.
>>22409242
and
>>22408850

I say the sandworms are now creations of myth, and can be summoned by bards, but do not exist naturally.
>>
>>22409273
I like that. All the mages are constantly making names for the new trees the obelisk makes.
>>
In the very center of the underworld there is a tower connected to the metal obelisk above the sands. This tower holds the last of the ancient races in a stasis keeping one of each race awake for a year at a time watching over their long dead empire with sorrow.
There is currently no known way into the tower though the golems seem to phase in and out of it.
>>
>>22409362
He has a Wu Manchu moustache. Because of this, a Wu Manchu can either mean you are a holy prophet to some or a grave danger and a psychic to others.
>>
>>22409356
Dude who thought of the underground here

I was thinking it more as a purely nature with old giant cities and no sentient races sorta thing.
>>
Rolled 13

>>22409374
There are how ever many I rolled Ancient races. What are they?
>>
>>22409395
a giant blue whale who flies around in the sky, and has a Wu Manchu, that is either hilarious, awesome, or hilariously awesome. Especially as I was originally thinking he was something along the lines of an island whale from one piece, because those things are fuck huge. he dwarfs the other whales.
>>
Rolled 9

>>22409402
Oh ok, I was the one who posted that. I'll take it back. Maybe the dwarves are the only ancient race who are awake? And they've slowly been trying to make there way back to the obelisk to wake the rest of them. They're aren't many though.
>>
>>22409412
shall we go one race at a time?

humanoid manta ray people

leathery blueish white skin, big black pearly eyes, psionics with no mouths or nose. they breath through large slits running down their chests and out their backs. They have long thin barb tipped tails.

for the love of god no elves as ancient races if they are the sky island people
>>
>>22409402

I'm against a locked room being in the setting, no point in having it if no one lives there, and no one can go there.
>>
>>22409370
This setting is all about dreams, right? Go the 100% and make the "world tree" a gigantic brain pulsing with lightning.

Speaking of which, because everyone can use magic in the setting, all "fighters" are people who choose to tap into the Aggression, which are pulsing, red veins that run throughout the material land. A particular strong warrior is so empowered that they subconsciously warp the landscape around them.
>>
>>22409445
Could work, a small stasis tomb kept a band of them alive after the ancient races nearly all died off (the only others being in the tower and only one or two of each race reside there).
>>
>>22409412
Doppelgangers have always roamed the deserts, it is theorized that they gained their shapeshifting powers from the fact that their homeland is centered around the obelisk thingy, they aren't telling anybody if that's true anytime soon though.
>>
>>22409467
Its for lore, and the underground isnt locked, just no one really knows about it.
The tower could open at some point in the future for all we know.... mystery !!!
>>
Rolled 14

>>22409474
I like the Obelisk. More symbolic and cryptic than a big ol brain.
>>
>>22409474

But we reconed the tree into a mass of plant life that was produced by the obelisk, making it a brain at this point is silly.

>>22409502

How about, towers Have come up, in time with people having dug down and found a seemingly bottomless pit, which no one can safely traverse because gods damn that is deep.
>>
>>22409511
woops kept rolling

Alright so ancient race number two.

Mechanic Cockroach people
They never could communicate with the other races except through psychic links. No psychics in them either, all of them are just smart when it comes to building. They are who built most of the weird ruins(dwarves are the other ones). Eventually betrayed the other 13 races for some unknown reason, the dwarves being the only ones who got out of the obelisk before it locked.
>>
A race of people with four eyes no nose a mouth horizontally in the middle of they're faces and holes for eats they are savage people.
>>
>>22409548
ears i meant eats
>>
>>22409511
Hmmm, have it both ways? A gigantic obelisk that causes and mutates all plant life. The obelisk, as far as anyone can tell, feeds off and both contains, adsorbs and creates the things known as dreamscapes. It's said that if everyone were to lose their ability to dream, all life would start to collapse.?

This way you could have assholes with "twisted" magic that fucks up the brain and destroys the individuals ability to dream.
>>
Anyone else thinking adventurers could be pulled into this realm from other settings sorta like how Ravenloft works but its the obelisks power at sporatic times doing such a thing. The energy storms have a very VERY small chance of depositing these adventurers in place of the mists Ravenloft has.
Note that unlike ravenloft it is not evil things the obelisk pulls in but random adventurers or objects.
>>
>>22408782
The gods's dreams bleed into physical reality: that is what makes magic possible, but has other effects as well that anyone can tap: for example the world follows narrative laws as much as physical laws, and problems unsolvable with normal logic are often solvable by dream logic. It's like the dreamtime and the songpaths of the australian aborigens of our world were true and everyone was a "shaman" (in the sense that everyone is conscious of it and can use this to full advantage).
There are cursed lands where there's no "dreamtime physics" but only regular Physics as we know it.
>>
One of the most populous races on the surface are a race of plant people, they were born right from the obelisk. Their bodies are actually little more than humanoid skeletons at their base, they can manipulate their growth into various shapes and forms.
>>
>>22409564
ooh I like that. Maybe that's what druids are. They try and stop people(aka wizards) from messing with the obelisk.
>>
>>22409596
Forgot to add: the obelysk is then what makes the "bleeding" possible.
>>
>>22409595
>random warforge from Eberron gets pulled in
>sees everything that doesnt make any sence
>cannot compute.....
>>
>>22409604
Those shapes solidfy when they come of age, but the truly gifted can manipulate there body forever. Legends tell of whirlwinds made of bark flowing into towns to defeat evildoers.
>>
>>22409596

But we already have belief makes reality, and other things about magic. You just added two different types of magic, not that there is anything wrong with them, but we already have stuff that you are kind of negating.
>>
>>22409628
Warforged: Alright...ok...I kinda get it. Psion based world...psion based gods. I can get behind that...kinda.

Great Blue Whale: Howdy stranger.

Warforged: *logic explosion*
>>
So, for those just joining us we have

>ancient races which build an underworld; based on ancient technology none of the current races which are of the overworld can understand
>the land is based in a dreamlike land
>the surface races know little to nothing about the underground
>inverted sky islands with "winged" elves
>obelisk produces plantlife while itself is very sterile like
>sky whales of great knowledge
>so much shit to write down in point form

This.... this is such a weird setting and I love it
>>
>>22409651
That's kinda what Aborigne magic would be to an extant.
>>
Someone want to archive this early so we can come back to it and add more and more over the coming weeks, months, YEARS! ?
>>
>>22409634
>>22409604

They are born as little more than large seeds. These seeds need to grow in soft soil covered in water for almost a year before they are at the same level as a human baby, when they can be removed from the soil and be feed with their mouths.
>>
>>22409668
it was described earlier, before half the stuff was thought up, as Acid Trip: the World. I'm just glad people liked my whales.
>>
>>22409694
Whale vs. Dragon fights will be awesome. Prestige class WHALE RIDER!
>>
>>22409694
I was the anon who discribe it as such lol

I was just trying to put down a tl:dr for new comers, though I think they should read through all of it.
>>
>>22409651
>>22409670
Yeah. I more or less wanted to propose my idea as an underlying rationale for the other styles of magic: bards sing and impose narrative dreamtime physics Etc.
>>
>>22409717

But magic can't only come from gods, and we already have people being able to make gods with belief.

Also we don't need just one form of magic.
>>
>>22409717
>BARDS, THE NEW 3.5 WIZARDS!

"You.. you are now... missing your head.... it is up your ass.... you are dead" - sung in a sing song style
>>
>>22409717
That could make Bards the best people to be guides. In Aborigine dreamtime the lands have there own songs, so Bards all know the songs of local places are can find anyplace in those songs cause "magic".
>>
>>22409734

Has to be believed, conceivably counter belief would negate. Will saves, will saves everywhere
>>
>>22409739
Bards are the only ones who have the knowledge to guide travelers through "dreamstorms" areas where all laws go to hell because a god's (or other powerful being's) dream is made manifest on the material plane
>>
>>22409731
True that.
>>
>>22409734
Wizards know the Vine Language, making them able to create and destroy using words though. Man our magic is awesome.
>>
>>22409757
it even has penalties for use, what with the accelerated ageing and all
>>
>>22409757

And I added a bit about magic being able to be preformed without words at the cost of a large stress on the body. And above that we have magic ages users through its stress.
>>
Rolled 5

What gods are there? My roll is the number of how many there are.
>>
>>22409746
>bard learns how to hypnotise people en mass
>big sing song of having their heads all crammed up their asses literally
>suddenly an entire town has their heads up their asses
>laughingbards,jpg

>>22409778

That should be the major gods, we should also have a great many other weaker gods that were created through belief. The major gods are the only ones that really matter though.

Insanity
Judgement (or order, but not order as in law but as in balance)
Nature (including machine)

First god, the god of the warrior, extends his power to those who do not use magic and fight with their strength alone. because balancing issues at this point.

I think the bards or wizards should look kinda like this with the dessert and all.
>>
>>22409757
We could also fit some kind of bargaining magic if we want: the dreamscape is full of critters that might be willing to di things for you for a price. But you have to speak the language (that seems like senseless dream-blabbering to the uninitiates, like when you wake up thinking a sensless sentence you heard in your dream and can't keep it out of your head, plus a bit of glossolalia)
>>
Plate armor is incredibly rare due to the heat of the deserts, and must be crafted with magic that keeps the wearer cool.
>>
should also be noted that the vast majority of humans should be tan - darker skinned, darker hair and eyes, less hairy in general.

With rare towns or maybe a city of albinos

Elves are the reverse, having developed on the sky islands, they are typically pale do to their native land not having any direct sunlight. But with dark skinned elves that have lived on the surface a long time, and may or may not have interbreed with humans.

seas of highly acidic or even salfuric acid randomly placed in the desert, maybe more so in the "dead" areas of the surface world.

>>22409801
The Lucid Dreamer, knowledge God of sorts, the only one that knows it's dreaming, can't act directly beacouse that would cause immersion in the dream and it would lose his lucidity but it can influence people and things through their consciousness (so prophecies, initiatory rituals Etc)

demons are an ancient race that devour the dreams of beings, destroying their mind, and in turn the soul, Celestials craft dreams and the souls of new life forms and seek to protect them from the unending hunger of the demons
>>
>>22409889
that is deliciously perfect. Soo who else wants to adventure in this world?
>>
>>22409894
The secret reason the Cockroach people made the Obelisk is to make the races become Celestials. The ones who didn't are the Dwarves(they escaped), the Cockroaches themselves(cursed with unending dreamlessness), and two other races for some reason.
>>

Iv archived it
>>
>>22409906
OP here. I for totes running a game in this world someday. Might do a Quest with this in mind.
>>
>>22409894

Can we make it less devour and more take over? Devouring dreams is kind of not dream logic. How about the demons progressively add themselves into peoples dreams reinforcing and strengthening their existence eventually taking over the person.
>>
>>22409921
either way works
>>
>>22409910

That's three dude, because no one said the cockroaches made the obelisk.

>>22409944
What this anon says.

I was thinking the obelisk was a combined creation of all the ancient races.
>>
>>22409957
...i thought it was just kinda there
>>
>>22409952

Death, existential fears, bears(desert bears), other things.
>>
>>22409545
>>22409944
Yea realized that. They betrayed the other races so maybe that's what their punishment is for locking the others in the obelisk?
>>
>>22409967
The Bear Demon sounds bad-fucking-ass. He also includes fear of caves, shares darkness with another, and being eaten alive. He's the ruler of the Animal Fears.
>>
>>22409966
I thought of it more as an ancient and lost technology sorta thing. Which is why the ancient ones stasis tower is directly underneth it. Something the surface race doesnt know about... YET.

More ideas to flush out though.
>>
>>22409957
>>22409971
Alright, well I like the idea of the Cockroaches locking the other races inside when they were done building it. Maybe everyone didn't exactly know "why" they were building it? Or maybe it's just conjecture on part of the scholars of the world?
>>
>>22409971

Sure.

Anyway, the obelisk, it is a condensed form of great powers which were naturally abundant in the world. The ancient races formed it from the magic and powers of the world.
>>
>>22409999

To expand on my previous post here
There was something of a proto obelisk that was always around, this and its various counterparts were the basis of the current obelisk.
>>
>>22409999
I think that destroys the mystery. Have it have always been there, with realms, gods and life popping up all around it. It is mysterious, it is unbreakable and it creates, absorbs and contains your dreams.
>>
So we have three of 13 Ancient Races. Any thoughts on the others?

So far Dwarves, Manta Ray People, Cockroachkin
>>
>>22410028
WE had some Dryad-y things and Doppelgangers
>>
>>22410028

How about some sapient living rock people? less shardmind more goron.

>>22410038

Those are surface races though, can't be ancients.
>>
>>22410045
Are they exclusive?
>>
>>22410028
here >>22409548
>>
>>22410052

Well the plant people were born from the obelisk, and the artificial sun underground was made by the ancients races, not having light for a long time kind of fucks over plant races.
>>
>>22410045
I like that. Big ol' Goron dudes introducing wrestling to the world. All we have left are their tribal masks and wrestling tomes. We also have Four-Eyed No Nosed Slit Mouthed guys in the Ancients. So five now.

How about some regular humans in the ancients races, or proto humans, a few of them escaped and in their fear went all the way to the surface, refusing to even tell their children where they really came from.
>>
>>22410028
The "Deadmen".
Small intelligent organisms that existed since the first days of creation. This is how they work:
1) Find a living host
2) Infect
3) The host slowly dehydrates and dies.
4) Control the husk
Some Deadmen want to leave the caverns.
>>
>>22410095
That makes for what the third Non-Celestial Ancients is.

The Great Blue Whale elder is actually a God that accidentally awoke, and is now trying to get its godhood back.
>>
>>22410120
With the ability to meld with stone, the Archeans were a race of ancients who favored ambush tactics, looking like a human sized snake with legs and four arms, they were the most war-like of the ancients
>>
>>22410103
Deadmen never really got "captured". Sure they are one of the Celestial Races, but they infected a few dwarves before the fall and escaped. Besides humans and dwarves they're another race that survived to modern times though no one knows what they are.
>>
>>22410120

Living fungus people, sense the world through vibration, only vibration, taste, and touch. Were actually masters of music. Have long thin arms and no heads, and are able to grow new hands and other small appendages.
>>
>>22410120
Sentient fire elementals, with their own culture and stuff.

I do like sentient fire elementals. Their art is based on how they burn things, kindle being their food. They search for coal and fossil fuels. Art is based on the coloured flames of certain chemical reactions.

The sun is believed to be their afterlife.
>>
>>22410138
We already had the Great Blue Whale being "almost a god". Maybe the scholars got it wrong and the Dragons (betrayers) were the reason he fell and that's why he cursed them.
>>
>>22410138
actually, he is more of a primal being who came after the gods but before the ancients, very nearly ascended to godhood before the dragons betrayed him >>22409238
>>
>>22410133
I was pretty sure the Hollow ones where a playable race. Right now the Modern races I've seen are
Humans
Dwarves
Elves
Hollow Men
Deadmen
>>
>>22410163
I like this more than a fallen god.
>>
>>22410164
oh yeah sorry my fault i was kinda thinking it should be a list of all races.
>>
>>22410156
The Great Blue Whale used to be the God of knowledge, so in his dream he kept searching for more knowledge, but he sought too much and delved into nightmare, causing him to wake up. The dragons are a physical manifestation of this nightmare.
>>
>>22410149

Oh that reminds me of another race I have come up with before but never used. Based on actual fae myth the Asrai pseudo water elementals, when exposed to bright light their bodes are forced to turn to water only the strongest could retain their shape when turned to water. Entirely female race of shapeshifters, being able to modify their body, at least to some extent do to their amorphous nature.

Were not locked away, they only exist now as water in the lakes underground, that can no longer regain it flesh, or retain its shape.

I like that. They can be the fourth non-celestial race.

Our playable races are almost normal. Dwarves, Elves, Humans. Then we're all "And these dudes with holes in there heads! They hide it with masks!"
>>
>>22410251

I don't think it would work, fire people would be both bright, and would evaporate them, kind of the asrai's two weaknesses. How about mutual fear, neither race could really exist in close proximity to the other.

We are the Forgotten, Mortal, and we have watched as our staunchest allies and our most bitter foes were imprisoned. We have manipulated the world for eons, and nobody even knows who we are. Search your history books, your legends, anything. You will find nothing, for we are the Forgotten, those removed from the dreamscape.
>>
>>22410289
They're a lost race who came from the Dreamscape. In actuality they're one of the 13 Ancients but so far removed from our images of them that we nor they ever noticed. They Celestial from they're race spent most of his time trying to create his race again to hunt the Cockroachkin for revenge.
>>22410292

Fucking love this. So every demon is unique, starts like a strange character you see in a dream, takes over people and spreads like an infective psichosys that in turn infect the land itself eventually, making a nightmare-land (or bad trip land)
>>
>>22410389

>>
>>22410404
>>22409952
>>22409967
Yea. I like that the Demon Lords aren't like major concepts themselves. They're just ruling over common fears. The more fears you have the better the chance you can get powerful, but the less you have the stronger you can be. So more is easier but less rewarding, less is harder but more rewarding.
>>
You could have really weird "Nightmare on Elm Street" games.
>>
>>22410459
Is it possible for somebody to become a demon, if they are overwhelmed by negative emotions?
>>
>>22410444

Oh right, more about the bears. Because its a land of desert land, almost all bears are tan, and blend in well with the sand or dirt landscape. Most bears also dig burrows into the sand or dirt to get out of the heat of the day. And yes, a bear can dig into a sand dune and not have it collapse on them, because they're fucking bears, and the sand will stay put if a bear tells it to.
>>
>>22410467
I'd say yes. Maybe most suicides send them to whatever demon made them commit it's realm as a servant. One of the Demon Lords was one of those guys, but he beat his way to the top.
>>
>>22410468
SO SAYS LORD BEARZEBUB, SO SAYS THE WORLD.
>>
>>22410468
a bear caught in a Dreamstorm has a certain percent chance to become a Dire Bear, intelligent, indeed almost sentient and the Demon Lord known as Ursus was a dire bear once, before being caught between the dream of a god and another Demon. This caused him to ascend, he is now one of the most powerful demons to have ever existed.
>>
>>22410491
fuck /tg/. end level content is gonna just be bear punching isn't it?
>>
>>22410491
For reference, a Dreamstorm is a chaotic hurricane thingy that screws all the rules and is caused by the restless dreams of Powerful beings. ie. Greater Demons, Higher Celestials, and gods
>>
>>22410504

Well he isn't the most powerful demon, more like number two.

I'm loving this thread! So, the gods?
>>
>>22410504
it's like one in a fuckthatsahugenumber chance to mutate, and even smaller to ascend to demonhood. They could just as easily go celestial
>>
>>22410516

Which are separate from, but similar too magic storms
>>22408904
which are caused by living psionics
>>22408951

On easy way to tell them apart is that will o wisps only show up and feed on magic storms.
>>22408925
>>
>>22410516
Generally caused by psychic fuckery. Some demons try and target psychics for there ability to create Dreamstorms. Psychics yet to awaken and fought over by Demon Lords for the power it gives them and defended by the Celestials.
>>
>>22410541
haha nvm nvm nvm then. I didn't realize they were differant things.
>>
>>22410531
Gods are metaphysical concepts, like "Fuck You" and "Yes".
>>
File: 1357395468931.jpg-(113 KB, 696x542, bokko-2384325.jpg)
113 KB
How about having the Enigmatic's be able to control small beings like insects?
>>
>>22409778
>>22410548
Actually, we're supposed to have 5 major gods
>>
>>22410539
>>22410541

So lets clear this up. Dream storms need something from the dream side to cause it, Magic storms are a psion just fucking up and releasing magic into an area though poorly understood processes. A magic storm while caused by a psion is magical, a dream storm, while it can use a psion, is dream/god based.

Maybe psions cause magic storms by combining regular magic, like the vine stuff, with dream magic, overpowering the vine stuff.
>>
>>22410572
I like that. Maybe a little known fact is that Enigmatics can control aspects of there question. It's always tricky to find out what you get to do after the question and no one knows about that part before asking. Along with that you are forbidden from telling people about how the powers work.
>>
>>22410579
Then those are very important concepts, like Existence, Nonexistence, Yes, No and Maybe.
>>
>>22410596
That sounds about right. What does everyone think the 5 Gods should be? They each have there own realm also.
>>
>>22410590
I like it
>>
>>22410610
OOOH maybe Clerics and Paladins and the like work on praying to a Celestial rather than one of the Five Constants (I like that name better than God for them)
>>
>>22410596

And badass/manliness, honor and you know other warrior stuff.

Existence/nonexistence should be one god.
>>
Man demon bear pics keep showing me gay dudes and furries.
>>
>>22410596
>>22410610
I always thought that the top dog would be the God of Dreams, considering their importance in this setting.

>>22410548
All this said, we could have the dreaming Gods as basically metanarrative stories. One God is the story of how underdogs can triumph over insurmontable odds if they're determined enought, if you're in a situation that applies and show adeguate determination you get his help, the world around you becoming more similar to It's story.
>>
>>22410679
That's so freaking awesomely meta I LOVE IT!
>>
>>22410679
So Bards usually worship the Five Concepts and Clerics/Paladins/Common Folk worship the Nine Celestials.
>>
>>22410679

God of underdogs, triumph over insurmountable odds, warriors and courage. Should be all the same thing. Particularly as a god of Courage.
>>
In the deepest deserts mighty Dire Rhinos pull the Orcish Caravans. Every Caravan is led by a Knower, an Elder Orc who knows a Secret, a great Truth of such unfathomable power that it must not be shared at any cost, passed down from ancient times.
To know a Secret is to be it's slave.
To share a Secret is to embrace dreamlessness.

No one knows the origin of these Orcs, or how they came to be the guardians of the Secrets. What is known is that the Secrets are powerful, and many eyes, Both mortal and godly, look to them with hunger.
To defend the Secrets the Caravan Guards train themselves in all forms of warcraft and are considered some of the greatest warriors in the Desert, though their loyalty is to the Knower alone. If you want something or someone delivered safely across the sands, give it to an Caravan.
A few Orcs are banished, often for reasons they do not share. These Orcs often end up as Mercenaries, Bodyguards or Adventurers and are viewed with both suspicion and awe by the common folk.

Those few Orcs that do learn a Secret form a new Caravan, and their legend is shared between all the Orcs.

Every Caravan supports itself differently. Some are traders and merchants, some are bankers and moneylenders, a few are mercenaries, but most divide themselves between these professions.
>>
>>22410791
>>22410758
This would imply that most keepers, at least those who found caravans, are either great questers blessed with patience, or psions

So we have the God-Story of the courage, 4 other God-stories and the lucid Dreamer with no story of his own but that influences all others.
For the other 4 i propose:
The God-Story of Love (Union, community, nature Etc)
The God Story of Doubt (trickster God of illusions and knowledge)
The God story of Strife (division, so gerarchy, War and so on)
The God story of Passion (the most immersed in the dream, polar opposite of the lucid Dreamer)

considering how important dreams are in this setting, would the lucid dreamer be somekind of Overdiety? I like the God-Story ideas though

The third largest city is Kiriplact, capital of the City-State of the same name. It is an oppressive regime.
>>
>>22410981

Biggest city, or populated area, should be around the tree and obelisk. It should also be one of the most habitable areas in the world, due to the tree shading the area. However it might not be one city, just a very populated area.

The Tyrant of Kiriplact is an Orc who was banished. He hates psychics and other orcs and hunts Sky Whales for sport. He says he wants the Obelisk so he can rule the psychics as master to slave. (Some say he found the Great Blue Whale and was deemed unworthy for a secret.)
>>
>>22411042

The obelisk is wrapped in the tree and vines, but much of it can still be seen. Directly around the obelisk is the city of Vines, which is fully within thee tree.

There is only one obelisk though, they would only be able to spread it by planting the new plants which produces.

Also I doubt the people of the vine would live around the obelisk, no light under the tree for a photosensitizing race, but maybe the obelisk itself negates the need for sunlight.
