PREVIOUS THREAD >>22417576

You're sure that Esther isn't dead in the bath, she's just sleeping. You can't blame her, she looks comfortable.

You figure she's about 17, which is a few years past adulthood for kobolds.

You place a blanket over the fireplace, warming it up, then gently wake her.

She groggily says that she didn't realize what she was doing, and that it felt really warm and nice and that she's sorry.

You say there's no need to apologize, then gently help her out of the bath and help her dry off.
>>
>>22425550
prepare a picnic basket, and see local wizard/veterinarian about kobold diets. get it something SPARKLY at the market.
>>
Quick question. Was the last thread archived? And if so, where?
>>
>>22425550

I suppose there were more awkward places to start off a new thread. Anyway, like I said in the previous thread we should get her ready and go to the market and pick up some stuff to help teach her reading/writing and other important things. Perhaps a few toys if she's interested, maybe a mace so that she can spar with you and learn the way of the druid.

Do we know how kobolds thermoregulate? Should we worry about her core body temperature as she dries off? We might have to find some place cool for her, or find a warm rock. Where do you check a kobold's temperature?

We're training the little kobold named Esther in baking. We already sent her to clown college, which she promptly ran back here frightened. We now use that as a threat of punishment, "Keep baking, or it's off to clown college with you!"

Just to make it clear for people. We're a Bear who learned to be a druid. We're not a druid who learned to be a bear.

You previously heated up a blanket for Esther. You tell her to wait while you go grab that.

She looks much more comfortable once she has that wrapped around her. You tell her that if she's up to it, you want to take her to the market to buy some things.

"What kind of things, Urnist...?"

Clothes, and other things, you say.

"Yip," she says. "I need more...?"

Yes, you say.

She asks you if they absolutely have to visit the market today.
>>
>>22425932
Better idea. We find a wizard to teach Esther enchantment. Then, she enchants her own bread.

If you enchant each ingredient separately, would all of their enchantments stack with one another?

I'm gonna throw a bit of science out there and assume that the chemical reaction of baking the bread would negate any magical properties.. It makes sense, as much as can be made in a fantasy setting.

Why does a kobold need fire resist? - maybe it will help her not get burned while baking, but there's another thing for that, it's callled an oven mitt. And it's much less expensive.

I tell Esther to explain to the shop keeper what happens if she steals.

I tell the shop keeper what a good natured young kobold Esther is, but I'm worried that she is going to run into trouble because of how she looks. Does she have any human polymorph jewlery?

She thought it was a pretty ring so we were gonna buy it for her. The fire resistance is just a bonus

You ask her how well it protects.

She says that it can protect from up to ten seconds of damaging heat, put past that it can't protect the user until the heat is removed.

You tell her the price is incredibly steep, and counter-offer with 400 coins.

She says 500, and you take it. She hands you the ring. You crouch down to Esther's level and give her the ring. She gingerly takes it from you.

She stares at it in her hands, then puts it on her finger and admires it.

Then she launches into a very strong hug, repeating thank-yous.

I tell Esther it's because she's been so good learning how to bake and behave well.

I explain to the shop keeper that I might have Esther come run errands for me from time to time. And ask that if she causes any trouble, let me know.

I then move on to the rest of my errands...

You return the hug two-fold, explaining it's for being good and learning how to bake bread. She just hugs you tighter.

Over the next hour you do your personal errands, while Esther examines every facet of her ring, sticking close to you. At the end of your jaunt, you buy a few foodstuffs, things like sweetmeats and pastries.

Esther asks you why you're buying those things.

You tell her that it's for a picnic.

She asks you what a picnic is.

You tell her that a picnic is a meal shared with others, outdoors, put together out of a basket.

She asks you if the picnic is for you and her.

You say yes.

She asks you where the picnic will be.

You tell her that the two of you will be picnicing at the Bloodplains of Murderholde.

Esther just stares at you. You can't help but laugh, then reassure her that you won't go there. You had a bad enough time when you went there fifteen years ago.

She laughs, a little bit. It's the first time you've heard her laugh.

It's lovely.

You inform her that instead, you'll climb up onto the roof and watch the sunset. She's happy with that idea.

And so you do that. You climb up onto the roof easily enough by yourself, and have to help Esther up. From there it's just a short climb up to the peak of the roof, where the two of you sit, with the basket balanced between the two of you.

Halfway through your meal, you accidentally knock the basket over with your big clumsy bear hands. After a second of silence, realzing the loss of the treats, the both of you burst into laughter.

The sun sets with Esther resting her head against your arm, watching the fading day. Esther says she's starting to get cold.

You place your arm around Esther, gently pulling her in tight. You ask her where she lived, and if she has any family or anything.

She says she slept in the woods but snuck around the town during the day. She doesn't have any family here.

You ask her if she knows where her family is.

She says she doesn't.

You pause for a second, then ask her in a low, careful, rumbling voice if she thinks they miss her.

She doesn't have much of an answer to that at first, but nods once after a while. You say you're sorry.

A few minutes go by. You ask Esther if she's ready to go to bed. She says yes.

You carry her down, your fur keeping her warm, and deposit her in your large bed. You climb in soon after, and she latches back onto you. You are about to ask her if she wants to hear another story when you notice she's asleep already.

Million times this.
I'm so fucking tired of quest threads everywhere. They are not even well suited, since there is only 500 posts untill bumplimit.
There needs to be a /vg/-like board for quests.
/tg/ would get rid of 3-4 quest threads constantly hanging on the first page, and they would get their own board with bigger bumplimit
