>first five threads
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Fantasy%20Quest

You were a 30 year old awkward lonely overweight virgin neckbeard who lived in his mother's basement. You were granted the unusual birthday present of being turned into a petite female elven bard and dropped naked in the middle of a forest. You and the gentle orc ranger, Jack Carson, became traveling partners and recently lovers after he rescued you from the wilderness.

After being kidnapped by wild elves, your guard, Varaia, helped you escape, banishing herself in the process. After tenuous bickering, she joined you and Jack in your travels.

You've started converting songs, movies, and so forth from your world to this world, including using illusions to play Star Wars for cash. Yesterday, you, Jack, and Varaia boarded the train to take you out of the frontier and to one of the colonial port cities of Sirocco, then on to Graia and Orsalem.

It's the start of day nine in this world, and you're already starting to lose count. When you wake up, the bed is empty, and you're the only one in the cabin. The blind is drawn on the window, and when you peek out of it, you realize it's late afternoon - Varaia and Jack must have let you sleep in.

What's your first order of business for the day?

BIble black will be ok.
>>
How about we go get some food and find jack we got a while until were supposed to do star wars.
>>
You get up, get dressed, and head on out for food. You had an early dinner last night, before Star Wars, and it's already late morning, so you could really use something to eat. On your way there, you note something you didn't notice yesterday. All of the lights on the train are tubes and spheres of enchanted glass - perhaps powered by the same elemental that keeps the train moving forward. You don't know how you missed it, after all, all the lights back in Salvation were candles and oil lamps.

When you arrive at the dining car, you find that the first lunches of the day are just now starting to be served. You take a seat, have a sandwich, watch the landscape pass the train by. Sometime during the night the train moved out of the forest and to the plains. You see a few copses of trees here and there, but mostly it's grasslands, meadows, and wild flowers as far as the eye can see. You would probably call it beautiful if it didn't start getting monotonous after the first few minutes.

You head to the lounge, hoping to find Jack. When you arrive, though, you're greeted by a sound that literally makes you cringe. There's an older man on stage, singing and playing the guitar, but the guitar is out of tune, he's tone deaf, and his voice is screechy and warbling. It's loud and discordant enough that your elf ears literally hurt, and you retreat back out of the lounge car. You didn't see Jack.

Do you check anywhere else? What's next on the agenda?
>>

check the caboose or any place to get fresh air
>>

They did say they wanted to go back there earlier, for the fresh air and all.
>>
>>22696815
Didn't Varaia said something about looking after that place?

Maybe she will be there.
>>
You decide to check out the caboose. There's supposed to be a balcony out there, and you know that Varaia went out there to get fresh air yesterday. Sure enough, when you get out there, Varaia is leaning against the railing, and Jack is sitting in a chair, his feet propped up on the rail.

"-just think it's funny they adopted your religion afterwards is all," you hear Varaia finishing as you step out.

Jack looks up at you and smiles as you step out. He puts an arm around your waist and pulls you down to sit on his lap. "Hey, Nona. We were wondering when you would get up," he says.

"I was surprised you didn't wake up when we got up and went to breakfast," adds Varaia, smirking and quirking an eyebrow at you.

Shit, are you falling back into old habits of laziness already? Or were you just tired out from doing Star Wars last night? Or both? It's not like you had anything planned this morning to wake up for.

What do you do now that you've found your crew?

No offense, but would you mind to fast forward some of these scenes?

Other than "practice magic/music", "chat with friends about random subject" and "play movies", there is not so much to do at the train, so wondering what to do every day at every hour... can get a bit repetitive.

I thought the order we were going for was 4, 5, 1, 2, 6, 3. That means we did New Hope last night, and Empire tonight.

You chat with Jack and Varaia for a while, then ask if either of them would be willing to let you use them as a test subject for enchantment practice using simple sleep spells and the like. Varaia gives you an unequivocal 'no,' there's no way that she's going to let you mess around inside her head. Jack deflects the question, saying that he may let you some other time - he's clearly not comfortable with it either. That's disappointing, but not unexpected - you don't think that you would give permission to have your head messed around with, even though, or perhaps especially because, someone already has.

You briefly consider messing around in your own head. Skilled enchanters can sometimes resculpt their own personalities, graft in a copy of someone else's skills, remove unpleasant memories, or even just cast spells to help themselves sleep or be happy. There's huge capacity for abuse, however, and worse, if you fuck up, you might get trapped in a sleep spell with no enchanter around to wake you. You decide against it until you're more experienced.

You have a relatively lazy day, then, watching the scenery go by and chatting with your friends. You three don't go back inside until dinner time rolls around, and then you head off to the lounge for Star Wars. A lot more people show up this time, and you make a fair bit of money. When it's all over, you and Jack head to bed, while Varaia heads back to the caboose for a while.

Two weeks pass. What do you do during them?

Finally get Jack to fuck us.

Keep showing movies every night.

Have a serious discussion with Jack and Varaia about becoming a triple before we've been with Jack long enough that it might disrupt our relationship too badly. Don't necessarily be in support of or against it, just have an honest and mature talk.

School that punkass with the guitar.

Start actually writing down scripts and screenplays.

Teach Jack more Orcish.

Chat with friends.

Fucking arm wrestle Varaia.

Jokingly arm wrestle Jack.

Illusionary fireworks show.

Have Jack help you practice sucking dick.

Try to compose some original songs.

Try to write some original stories/screenplays.

Homebrew a tabletop ruleset.

Try to practice shooting at birds from the caboose, we have a ton of .38 ammo to waste.

Teach Varaia how to use a gun.

Have Jack teach you how to use a rifle.

Can anyone think of anything else?

I think we should wait a few hundred years to be a mother than finally learned what it's like to be a grandmother; subjugated, yet honored

see if we can teach jack drums and show Varaia guitar we are a band?
>>
You find a lot of little things to keep you busy in the next couple weeks. You take pot shots at birds with your .38 ammo, and find yourself hitting a few shots. While you're at it, you show Varaia how to handle a pistol, and get Jack to show you how to use his rifle. You still much prefer a pistol, but you can handle a rifle now, at least. Maybe you could take the middle ground and get a Mare's Laig at some point?

You look into getting some condoms - there aren't any for sale on the train, but you find out that when you're somewhere other than bumfuck nowhere you can find them in stores. While you're at it, you look into other forms birth control too. There is some - a form of grey necromancy that stops ovulation. You can either cast it yourself if you're a middling or better necromancer or get it in potion form condensed into pills, if you can afford it.

You keep running movies every night, play music sometimes during the day, and get started converting more material from your world, running it all past Jack and Varaia for editorial support. You even start writing and composing some original material of your own, but you're self-conscious enough that you're not sure if you're comfortable performing it yet.

You teach Jack more orcish, and offer to teach him the drums, which he's somewhat less interested in. Varaia doesn't really go for guitar lessons either. You could maybe make a backup band with illusions, you guess?

..::||continued||::..
>>
>>22698189
You homebrew up a simple RPG, something that won't take too much time to learn or play. You realize, after you've finished, that you basically made Risus. You're not sure how to feel about that.

You get yourself some more intimate, private time with Jack here and there while Varaia is out of the cabin doing other things too. He's still not going all the way with you, but you're starting to think it may be better to wait for contraceptives anyway. Still, you're getting plenty of practice and having a lot of fun. And Varaia only walked in on the two of you going at it twice - which was still embarrassing.

After the second time, you decide to have a mature discussion about your group's relationship, talking about how comfortable Varaia is with the fact that you and Jack are lovers, that you're all sharing a room - a bed even - when she's not part of it. You bring up the possibility of a polyamorous relationship - not advocating it, but also not opposing it - in order to get their opinions on it.

..::||continued||::..
>>
>>22698198
Varaia is apparently comfortable with trying a group relationship - or just being the third wheel that sometimes walks in on you two. She's hundreds of years old and apparently has experience with both, in both a positive and negative capacity.

Jack's more concerned about nobody having their feelings hurt. He sees a lot of potential for someone to get offended or feel rejected, especially if it doesn't work out. And if you did become a triple instead of a couple and that broke up, would you and he stay together while Varaia goes back to being the third wheel? He's not opposed to the idea, per se, he just wouldn't want to do this unless everyone feels comfortable and prepared for it.

You all agree to leave things as they are now and to all just think about it to decide if you're all both interested and emotionally prepared for that. You, personally, aren't sure whether or not you're either of those things yet.

It's the end of the second week, and yesterday you snapped and actually walked up on stage to give that terrible old dude an actual, proper music lesson. You woke up before Jack and Varaia for once. How do you start your day?

Okay, so follow me on this. I'm not necessarily for or against adding Varaia to this thing we've got going. However, something we need to remember is that, right now, we three are the only people each other has in the whole world. This is both good and bad.

On the downside, that means that if the relationship ended badly, it could have a serious negative impact on all of us. It also means we might be at risk of codependence and emotional abuse.

On the upside, if we don't do it, Varaia is probably going to get very alienated as a third wheel. We're also already relatively intimately connected - we share a bed in various states of undress, spend tons of time together, enjoy each other's company, owe our very lives to each other, and so on.

We should consider all of those things when it comes to a hypothetical polyamorous relationship.
>>
>>22698516
>yes, for most of a day
>>
You decide that there's no harm in a little early morning masturbation. You'll have to be careful, though, if you want to do it without waking up Jack or Varaia. You would have never been able to do this back when you had a dick - not that you would have ever been in a situation where you would need to hide it from someone in the same bed in the first place. You reach down between your legs and move slowly, trying not to create too much motion while still enjoying yourself. After several minutes, you're panting, close to climax, and trying not to wake everyone up by moaning.

You're so startled that you almost scream when Varaia sits up and gets out of bed. "Your wrist was rubbing against my belly," she whispers, smirking down at you. Your fingers are still in your underwear, and Jack's big arms are around you; he's still sleeping. "I can wake Jack up and go get breakfast, if you want some private time."

Shit, that is embarrassing as a motherfucker. You're pretty sure you're blushing. You were so close too.

Fuck it. You've already been found out. You may as well finish. Finish hard. Instead of answering, you close your eyes, bite your lip, and go fucking nuts with your fingers. A low scream starts quiet and then crescendos as you get hit with a wave of pleasure. After you finish, you lie there, your brain buzzing in afterglow, until you open your eyes back up and look around.

Varaia is covering her mouth and looking down at you. Her eyes are wide and she's blushing.

Jack's sitting up. He's looking at you with his mouth hanging slightly open and a raised eyebrow. "Were you just...?"

You feel a hard blush. This is really just too embarrassing for words. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but then again you had been sexually frustrated and just shy of a climax. Both of them are staring at you. The awkward silence is absolutely deafening.

They're both still staring at you.

"Don't pretend you didn't love it," you say, walking over to the door.

They're still just both staring at you.

"Your move," you say to them, feeling like a sexy bitch. Then you fucking strut your way on out of there and off to the dining cart. You hope that gambit worked, acting totally in control and on top of things rather than embarrassed as fuck.

Before you make it to the dining car, though, you hear running foot steps then feel a man's arm come around your neck from behind, pulling you into a headlock. Something hard and narrow, like the tip of a gun barrel, presses against your temple, and you're spun around. Down the hall stands some kind of dwarven rail marshal, a badge on his chest and a ray pistol in his hand.

Standing with the man holding you hostage are two other men holding pistols and great big bags. "Back the fuck up or a put a bullet in this bitch," says the man holding you. You hear his gun click as he cocks it - fuck, you should have tried to escape if it wasn't cocked. "I mean it."

You mutter a quick spell, knocking out the guy holding you at gunpoint out almost immediately, slumping off from behind you and falling to the floor. The marshal takes the opportunity to shoot one of the guys carrying a bag, a narrow and uncannily straight streak of crackling electricity hitting him in the shoulder, dropping him to the ground in a twitching, convulsing mess. The remaining gunman pops off two shots in center of mass on the Marshal, then whirls around to face you just in time for you to get off a single shot directly into his face, and inch under his eye.

But his gun discharges. You feel yourself hit the ground. You're right at level with one of the dropped bags - you see they're absolutely, completely loaded with various denominations of crown notes. You look down. You're bleeding from your abdomen, about two inches left of your navel, you guess. Then the pain catches up to you - you've never felt pain like this in your entire life.

Oh god.

You scream. It's not a dignified scream. You scream and bellow and cry so hard and loudly that your voice goes ragged. You reach down and try to put pressure on the wound with your hands, but your hands are shaking and weak. Oh god, are you suffering from blood loss or just in shock?

Then suddenly you're in Jack's arms and you're still bleeding and you're fading in and out. You hear Jack's voice, Varaia's voice, other voices.

"-there a doctor anywhere!?" Jack.

"-don't care, just do-" Varaia.

"-no exit wound-" an older woman.

"-the ether. Keep her still-" a young man.

Then everything goes dark.

"What happens if you die?" asks the voice. The voice from the beginning. "Do you start again, same as before? Do you go back to being lonely Anon? Do you just stay dead? We might yet see."

Then you're in the dark again. For what feels like a long, long time.

Then you're awake. Barely. You're confused. Not sure where you are. What just happened. You're in a bed, you think. Your arms and legs feel heavy. You're so tired. You're hot and sweating and your mouth is dry. Your entire abdomen has a dull ache, sharp pains shooting through it with every breath, every time you try to move. Your eyelids feel heavy, almost too heavy to open.

starting to worry about OP a bit.
>>
You try to talk - you're not sure what you were trying to say - but all that comes out is a whimper. Immediately there's motion and voices around you, but you can't really focus on them. You feel something cold and smooth pressed against your lips - a glass of water.

You take a sip.

You choke, cough.

Another sip.

"I don't want to die," you croak out.

You feel a gentle hug. You open your eyes. Jack and Varaia are both hugging you; Varaia's trying to keep the glass of water in her hand from spilling, and Jack has clearly been crying.

You try to talk again, but you can't get any more words out. You try to sit up, but Varaia pushes you back down again with one hand.

"You need to rest," she says. "You lost a lot of blood and you have an infection. The nearest hospital is in Ridgemont and that's still a few days away."

"How long?" you croak again. "Was I out?"

"Almost three days," says Jack, his voice rough.

Varaia puts the glass to your mouth again and you take another sip.

"I'm going to go get her some soup," says Jack. "Make sure she rests."

Varaia nods.

Do you do anything else, or just sleep more now?

>>
>>22701749
We don't need to apologize. Ten to one says Varaia was aroused and Jack probably laughed at how ballsy we were.
>>
>>22701853

>>
>>22701958
It took him an hour to post the last one. He's probably doing something else while he's running this. He'll be back.
>>
>>22701958
Calm down, He's just taking his time. If we pressure him, we'll get shoddy work. If we let him come up with the story as it comes to him, we'll all have a better time.
>>
You just rest your eyes and doze for a bit, waiting for Jack to come back with the soup. You take a look at your hands - they're too pale. You really must have lost and awful lot of blood.

"The bullet?" you choke out.

Varaia's face goes pale. "We got it out. That was grisly. Very touch-and-go."

That makes you a little nauseous to hear, knowing how close you came to dying. And then what would have happened? You would shudder to think of it, but you're just so damn tired. Varaia puts a wet cloth on your forehead - it feels good, helps cool you off a bit. You're definitely feverish.

Jack comes back in with a cup of soup and a spoon. He feeds it to you by the spoonful, blowing each one cool and bringing it to you delicately, like you're a baby bird. You don't mind. You finish most of the cup, too, before you're too tired to continue.

Both Jack and Varaia are there, tucking you, cooling you, comforting you, tending to you.

Do you say or do anything before you drift back off to sleep?

This universe will be very sexualized. I imagine that it's common place in this universe. V said she'd been in such a relationship multiple times.
>>
"I'm sorry," you say to them.

Then you're out.

You're not sure how long you're out, but when you wake up again, the room is dark. Your elf eyes can make out Varaia, sleeping with her arms crossed in front of her chest in a chair at the foot of the bed. Jack is nowhere to be seen.

You're hot - hotter than before. Your guts feel like they're on fire. Your mouth is completely dry. You're even more exhausted than before. You try to lift your arms, to sit up, but you really can't.

You open your mouth and make a cracked little mewling sound. You were trying to say Varaia's name. She jerks awake and makes soothing sounds, bringing a glass of water for you to drink from. "Shhh, shhh, there there," she says, stroking your hair while you drink. "Your fever's getting worse, and we still have more than a day until we reach Ridgemont."

Oh god.

"I'm not going to lie to you," says Varaia. Oh god. "It looks bad. The railroad company awarded us a reward as thanks for stopping the robbery. Awarded you a reward. If we made it to the hospital in time, we should afford to get you magical healing."

Oh god, you might still die.

"If... If we don't..." says Varaia, tears welling up in her eyes. Then she's crying and giving you a kiss, just like that first night she started sleeping in the same bed with you. "Just hold on..."

Oh god. She thinks you aren't going to make it.

Do you try to do or say anything, or go to sleep to preserve your strength?

I had that - almost cracked my head open on a brick wall, and after the hospital said my brains and skull were ok, they let me go home, but said I had to stay up for 24 hours.

Not sure what to do here... sleep = preserve/regain strength, but then we get comfortable being sleepy and...

not sleep = stay conscious, but maybe we lose strength if we do this.

"I feel like if I go to sleep I might not wake up, wish I had thought about making some penicillin."
>>
>>22702781
The reason you don't go to sleep when you have a concussion is that, if your brain swells to the point that you would need to be hospitalized, you wouldn't notice it because you're asleep. Naturally it's a very painful experience but the signals aren't received when you're asleep.

The reason you don't sleep when you're on death's doorstep, be it from blood loss or a really bad infection, is because your heart rate drops and your breathing slows. Brain activity is lessened. Blood circulation slows. Core body temperature lowers. Basically you're a whole lot more likely to have your heart stop when you're asleep than when you're awake.
>>
>>22702829
Making penicillin of sufficient purity and quantity is difficult as hell without modern production techniques.

It might be doable but you'd need a MD and a lot of patience.

"Jack?" you manage to croak out.

"Praying," she says. "At least he's stopped crying." She smiles, but the smile doesn't reach her eyes.

You close your eyes. You want to save your strength.

"Hey," says Varaia, tapping you gently on the cheek. "Hey, stay awake. We don't want you drifting off in your sleep."

"Tired..." you say.

"Here," says Varaia, sounding a little desperate. "I'll tell you stories. You're always looking for new stories, right? These are Wild Elf stories - I bet you've never heard anything like these before."

You nod. You'll try to keep awake.

You try to keep awake, but it's hard. The hours drag on. You keep losing focus on what Varaia's saying. Jack comes in, holds your hand, kisses you. He sits down in the chair at the foot of the bed, clasps his hands, closes his eyes.

Maybe someone will listen?

You're starting to drift.

Your mind is growing hazy.

It's getting harder to open your eyes after each blink.

You can't understand what Varaia is saying anymore.

How many hours left until Ridgemont?

Darkness.

"You're dead," says the voice. "They're trying to resuscitate you. At the hospital. I'll give you another choice, though. Another new body, new life. You'll probably never see Jack or Varaia again. Or you can wait. Hope they can revive you. But if they can't, then I'll leave you here in the darkness. Forever."

Do you try to stay here? Try to stay Nona? Try to stay with Jack and Varaia? Or do you let yourself pass on?

"I'm staying," you say. Your voice is shaky. You're not at all certain about this. This is the only chance you have of seeing Jack and Varaia again. But if you fail... If you fail, you're here. Forever.

You can almost feel the voice smiling through the darkness.

"Your choice is made."

Then silence.

It is dark. It is quiet. You have nothing to let you track the passage of time.

You try to sing, but find that you don't have a voice anymore. You don't have a body, you realize, trying to touch your face.

Nothing.

The time drags on.

You're here for ages.

Or seconds?

You're screaming, or trying to scream.

Perhaps you're going mad.

Perhaps you're already mad.

Perhaps you've always been mad.

The nothing is everywhere. Nowhere?

You're the nothing.

"...full recover..."

What? WHAT!? You're trying to yell out in the darkness. You heard something. You finally heard something. You could swear you heard something...

"...oh, thank..."

Jack? Jack, talk to me! Can't you hear me!?

"...when will..."

Varaia! Varaia, you can hear me, right? With your elf ears?

"...should be waking up any minute now," says the doctor as you suddenly snap back into reality. The sensory overload is overwhelming. Colours, sounds, cloth on skin, temperature, your heart beat.

You're screaming, you realize. Jack is holding you down on the bed to keep you from thrashing. Varaia is stroking your forehead, your hair, saying something - you're not paying attention. You quiet yourself down.

The fever's gone.

The pain's gone.

You still feel exhausted. You go limp.

Your hands are still pale.

"Nona? Nona, are you okay?" you finally realize what Varaia's saying.

"I... Yes?"

"Oh, thank god," says Jack. You don't think he's speaking rhetorically.

The doctor - he has a white lab coat, a plastic ID badge, a clipboard - starts talking. "You suffered cardiac arrest. You were legally dead for four minutes before being resuscitated on arrival at the hospital. Your injury has been repaired, your infection treated. You're still missing a lot of blood. You can leave when you're ready, but I advise bed rest for the next week or two."

You realize you're in an extremely modern-looking hospital room. What do you say and do?

Agreed.

You cry. In relief mostly, you think. You're not in much of a state to psychoanalyze yourself.

The tears come out in big, hacking sobs. You're sure your eyes are red and swollen, that you look terrible and ridiculous.

You reach out, trying to grab Jack and Varaia, but can't quite reach, and are a bit too weak to sit up properly in this emotional state. They come in and hug you, first Varaia and then Jack around you both. You're planting kisses indiscriminately, and realize that your eyes are still wide open as you cry.

It's just hitting you how afraid you were. While you were feverish, while you were in the darkness, there wasn't really time to feel the fear. But now that you're suddenly relieved to be fine, it all comes flooding in.

The doctor gives a sad smile from the doorway - you don't think he sees many people in your condition survive.

"We should get you back to the train when you're ready," says Jack. His voice is shaky. You realize he's crying too, just much less violently. "You heard the doctor. You need rest."

"I can get you a new shirt," says Varaia. "The blood can get cleaned out of your clothes with magic, but unless you know mending, you'll have a bullet hole in it."

You do, in fact, know mending. "I know mending."

Well, there you are, in an affection sandwich. You've just survived what is unequivocally the most terrifying thing in your entire life. The train's in Ridgemont for a few more hours. What now?

And what is our point with the talking about us and the future? What's our angle, our worry, our goal? Do we want to get married? Break it off into something more casual? Go for the triple while we're all still young and alive? Your suggestion is just vague enough to be meaningless.

MURRIAGE

Ehh... I think we should avoid that until we can think clearly. FOr now, we need to rest.

Rest on the train, make a song for jack, girl talk with Varaia, show Total Recall when we're well enough.

To stay with them forever. That darkness part was really worriying and they would've been sad if we died.

I don't want them to be sad.
>>
>>22704509
This brings up a good point. According to a previous thread, elves are functionally immortal. They do not die of old age. They only die by getting killed.

Think about how much this whole situation must have scared Varaia.
>>
>>22704257
We should give up on adventuring; it's too dangerous.

If the triple is going to be a thing, it needs to happen before Jack's dick gets old.

Precisely, probably much scarier for Varaia.

Jack's from a culture where death is inevitable.

No triple, only Jack.

Honestly. No triple. It'll just make things bad.

In that case we need to take Jack's brain, and dick, and rock solid abs, and kissable tusks and lips, and manly arms, and strong biceps, and cute butt, and put them into a golem so he'll be with us forever.
>>
>>22704582
I personally like the triple as an idea. We're all mature enough to handle it and have talked about it honestly.
>>

I bet you think Mormons are pretty mature, huh? And NTR is a huge turn-on?
>>
"I'm ready to go back," you say, giving each of them another squeeze for good measure. "Now do you have my clothes somewhere?"

They help you get into your clothes. Your utility magic requires a tiny amount of effort compared to maintaining an illusion for the length of a movie; your clothes are clean and mended before you even finish getting them on.

Your legs are too trembly to walk long distances. Jack carries you back to the bed. He and Varaia both help undress you and tuck you in.

"I'm going to go get her something to eat," says Jack. You didn't even realize how starving you were until he said that.

You close your eyes and relax. Your body feels heavy.

Varaia climbs into bed beside you. She puts her head on your chest. She's crying.

You can count the number of elven stories where the protagonist or antagonist die instead of being shamed or imprisoned or otherwise nonlethally defeated on one hand. Death must be a truly horrifying thing in elven culture. It's something they almost never see up close.

And then you remember something.

You put a bullet in that man, right below his eye.

You killed a man.

You can still remember the look on his face when you shot him.

Did you have a look like that on your face too?

All of a sudden, you can't get that look, the mild surprise, mild fear, the hole, the blossom of blood, out of your mind.

What do you do now?

Big difference between a relationship where everyone is involved with everyone else and a relationship where one dude controls a whole bunch of women's lives.

Also a big difference between polyamory and cheating.
>>
>>22704683
I agree. However, the anti-triple people are very vocal and very adamant about it. I think they might start a shitstorm or bail on the quest if we went for it. And that's the kind of thing that can kill a good quest.

I guess it might be projection, but considering the mortality difference, unless we decide to embark adventure with a death wish, I just can't see things working out well in the end with Jack.

If we don't increase our own risk of mortality to rival his, the difference in vitality that even 5 years creates, between an ageless and a mortal being, can only be a friction point.

Growing apart is nigh inevitable, even if we don't move to polyamory.

TL;DR, it'd be stupid for Jack to be more than a short term relationship.

He's not the only cock in the world, and we might prefer pussy given a chance.
>>
>>22704745
I'm sorry... It's just, the idea of polyamory just... Makes me feel bad, on many levels. Like, emotion, physical, all those deals. It's just... I find it wrong, even is fictional settings.

You know that there are loving, committed three-way relationships, right? And I'm not talking about one person being, like, a harem leader, or something. I'm talking about each of the people being committed to, in love with, both of the other people. It's not impossible to be in love with two people at once.

Yeah, this is the first time not mixing with the short-lived races has actually really made sense to me.
>>
>>22704898
It's not terribly common though.

There are also hippy communes that are functional beyond being a place for a bunch of people to squat and smoke weed paranoid that if they leave the few things they contributed to the place 30 years ago will be stolen by the other hippies. They just are far far outnumbered by the less functional sort.

Near death experiences commonly cause a reexamination of wtf people are doing with our lives.

Can we handle watching Jack grow old, marching inevitably towards death?

"I killed a man," you say quietly. "I killed a man and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I can't stop seeing his face when I close my eyes."

Varaia's tears stop almost immediately. She crawls up to look you in the face. "He deserved it," she says, insistently. "He killed that marshal. He almost killed... He DID kill you." She starts crying again. She kisses you - what is it with her and kissing when she's crying? "I would have killed him myself if you hadn't beaten me to it. He deserved it. You don't have to feel bad about it."

That doesn't get his face out of your head. The crack-crack of the two guns in that instant, frozen in time, echoing in your mind.

Jack returns. He's brought you some food that should be easy to digest - some toast, some water, a scrambled egg. You have a little of it, mostly to make him feel better about the fact that you're eating, but you've lost your appetite.

Jack and Varaia both still have their clothes on. They're holding you tight. You were in and out, touch and go, for about a week there. You can't even imagine how hard that week must have been on them.

But you're alive.

Do you do anything now?
>>
Rolled 74

I would rather watch someone grow old and die, than leave them now for such a petty thing as not wanting to see the die. That's selfish.

Stay with the amazing orc, so that he may die happy, knowing we made eachother's lives better.

We will cope with his death, when it happens. Until then: we enjoy both life, and Jack. Varaia can hang with us too, of course, but not the same way as Jack. We still love her, though. Just not like waifu love.
>>
>>22705121
Let's rest up. We need to get better so we can go ADVENTURING! We should probably train perception so that this doesn't happen again. It's getting to be a habit.
>>
>>22705006
I was actually in a great three-person relationship a while back. It only ended a couple of years ago because our job took us to different parts of the country, and we had already been through a long-distance phase of our relationship once already and didn't want a repeat. If we ever live in the same area again, I would love to pick up where we left off; I still love them both and wonder to this day whether breaking up was really the right choice. The long distance relationship phase was hard, but at least it wasn't this lonely.

Basically, you're talking out your ass. People who go into polyamorous relationships knowing what they're getting into and for the right reasons do just fine. As long as you're not lying to yourself and really just getting into it for an additional sexual partner, there's no more or less to worry about than in a traditional relationship. They just require maturity and honesty, both with others and yourself.

You sing to them. It seems like the most appropriate thing you could do in the current situation. You feel both of them relax beside you almost instantly. You gulp and switch to a different song when you realize you were singing Bohemian Rhapsody. That song is just too spooky right now with how your life's been going for the past... What is it, about a month now, since you've come to this world?

You take a good look at Jack and Varaia. Both of them have dark circles under their eyes. You don't think they've gotten much sleep in the past few days. You start singing a lullaby, and are soon also asleep yourself.

When you wake up, sunlight is streaming in from the window and Jack and Varaia are both still sleeping in the bed. They both still have their clothes from last night on too. Your body is heavy and you're tired, but you're awake.

You give Jack a kiss and start playing with Varaia's hair - it's dark and soft. Neither of them wake up from it, which strikes you as a little funny. You decide to get up and go get breakfast, maybe a little music. You've been laid up a bit too long.

When you stand up, though, your legs shake under your weight. You're still weak, and you swoon slightly - that's right, you did lose a lot of blood.

You decide to just do breakfast for now and see what, if anything, you can handle after that.

You get dressed, which is tricky - you have to lean on a chair because you're having a hard time standing on one leg. You decide to go with your skirt instead of the pants, just to make it easier on yourself. You're glad the hallways have hand rails in them, though you've yet to see the train get bumpy enough to really need them.

Once you're at the dining car, people are smiling and waving at you. You were a bit of a celebrity on the train before the robbery, what with playing all of those movies in the lounge. Now, it seems they think you're a bit of a hero too. The cook, a morbidly obese dwarf, even comes up and hand-delivers you a plate of toast and eggs, saying to let him know if you need anything else.

You eat up and then relax. You're already pretty tired, just from what you've done so far this morning.

What do you have planned next?

You decide to head back. If Jack or Varaia wake up before you get there, they might freak out when they realize you're gone. You thank the cook and head out.

You run into a worried-looking Varaia in the hallway on the way back.

"There you are!" she says. "I woke up and you... Let's get you back before Jack wakes up. You know how he worries."

She puts a hand on your arm to help support you and leads you back to the room, where Jack is already getting dressed. He gives you a serious look that makes you feel like a little girl about to get chastised by her daddy - which is odd, because you've never actually been a little girl. "You should be resting," he says, a tone of finality in his voice. "I can bring you anything you need."

You have a feeling this is going to be a boring couple of weeks with Jack and Varaia so intent on looking for you. Comfortable, but boring. You let them tuck you back in to bed.

Jack sighs. "I know. I just want to make sure you're safe and healing."

You smile and say, "Fine, fine. I needed a rest now anyway. That walk to the dining car took it out of me. I think I'll just work on writing for now. Maybe some anime..."

"Anime?" asks Varaia.

"Yeah. Like cartoons, foreign ones," you say, trying to think of how to explain it.

"Like for childen?" asks Jack. Apparently they have cartoons here.

"No, not for children," you snap. You hope they didn't get a good look at your inner neckbeard.

They decide to drop it.

You spend the rest of the day writing scripts for anime, trying to convert them to be appropriate for this setting. Cowboy Bebop seemed easy at first, until you realize how intimately tied to the Earth's solar system it was. That one will require a little more work before it's ready.

Jack brings you lunch, and in the evening they help you down to the lounge to play a few songs, then back to the room when you start getting tired. Evening rolls around, and everyone is getting ready for bed. Do you have anything you want to do or talk about with them before everyone goes to sleep?

That lightens the mood a bit.

"I know you can handle yourself," admits Jack. "I just feel guilty I wasn't there to help you when you needed it. I want to make sure you're safe and comfortable while you're getting better." He sighs. "I'll go a little easier, though."

"For me it's just..." starts Varaia, looking for the words. "I never even considered that I wouldn't get to keep knowing you for centuries. It's just... It's not something that comes up usually. Unless you're living with the child races. You know?" She shivers. "Normally there's always time. If you want something, you can just wait for it. If you know someone, you have all the time in the world to know them. If you want to be with someone, you just have to wait until the circumstances are right..." She shivers again. "You can't die," she says. You're not sure if that's a request, an order, or a statement of fact.

Well, at least we're getting to the heart of their issues. Do you say anything to assuage their concerns? If so, what?
>>
>>22706619
Ahhh, so she plans to hop in after Jack dies and snatch us up. Well, I guess when you're practically immortal that makes sense. I wonder how elves never get bored of life. They must get stir crazy if they stay in one place for centuries.
>>
>>22706619
They both have valid point. Jack's is a little more... relate-able, I guess. Might make some comment about being new to this whole "immortality" thing, in reference to V's comments.
>>
>>22706619
"I won't die. There's still stories to tell, to learn, and to make. Give me a bit and I'll be right as rain again.

Now cheer up both of you, I'm with my two favorite people in the world, I'm exactly where I want to be."

Give them both kisses.
>>
>>22706619
Man, thinking from an immortal's perspective requires a conscious effort on my part.
>>
>>22706619
we can all die ... enjoy what we have when we have it.
even if we cant move lets tell them a story
how about
some one piece, or don Quixote
so who were the robbers?

so immorality ? lets learn magic eventually
I think I would like to live on that read moon XD one day
>>
So, guys, I'm considering making a quest sometime soon as well. Anyone around here got any requests?
>>
>>22706845
What are the options?
>>
>>22706845
Naruto setting
>>
>>22706619
Well, unless you want some sort of random event to happen, I think we should fast forward a couple of weeks to the point where we can run around and act more adventure-y.
>>22706845
Well, I'd like to see more works of fantasy fiction that don't have as many of the typical tropes. I don't want the sort of thing where somebody can look up a race in the D&D wiki and say "Oh, he'll be good at smithing/fight/whatever". I'd prefer something new.
>>
>>22706845
Wait, wait, what the fuck, man? I don't think is a good idea to use someone's else thread to gather people for your own quest, open your own thread.
>>
>>22706913
Agreed, don't do that shit, wait for a quest general or something.
>>
>>22706873
Well, I mainly GM fantasy PnPs, but, I'd be open to most anything, unless it's an established setting, like >>22706885 that I don't know anything about.

>>22706913
I'm not gathering people, this won't go up for at LEAST a week. I'm just trolling around, looking for what the people are interested in.

>>22706894 So, you want something with races that aren't just pulled straight from LotR and the like?
>>
>>22706845
Female elf in a fantasy world wakes up as a male human in our world.
>>
"I'm not going to die," you say, trying to reassure them both. "I have stories to learn, to tell, to make. Just give me a few weeks and I'll be back up to full in no time."

They both nod.

You give Jack a kiss on the mouth and Varaia one on the forehead.

"So stop treating me like I'm a fragile doll. I'm just really tired."

Jack curls up around you and touches your hair. Varaia curls up to your front, putting her face in the crook between your neck and your shoulder. You're pretty sure you fall asleep before either of them; you really are quite tired.

A week passes. What's on your list of priorities for the next week?

>>22706845
>I'm a big fan of urban horror/occult underground stuff
>I only went with a world with Tolkeinoid races to fit the escapist fantasy theme
>>
>>22707002
Get better at magic. What kind do we have besides illusion?
>>
>>22707002
Get Movie Nights going again.

Work on new material.

Help the old guy figure out the guitar.

More Orcish lessons?

Table Top RPG.

Make friends on the train. Let's get some named NPCs up in here. Who's always in the lounge car with us, maybe?
>>
>>22707002
Take frequent walks, when we can start doing some stretches and exercises. Also >>22707052
>>
>>22706994
>>22707002
Female Cthuloid in a non-euclidean world wakes up as a male human in our world.
cue screaming
>>
>>22707002
Like I've been saying, listen in on people so we don't get ambushed again.
>>
>>22707052
Enchantment, but we can't really practice it much.
>>
>>22707076
As a way to train perception, I mean.
>>
>>22707089
Enchant our spoons!

Captcha: Ufaceren 1.22

WHO IS THIS REN, AND WHY AM I FACING HER?
>>
>>22707110
It's more people enchantment like sleep spells and stuff.
>>
>>22707002
I'm at work so I can't really participate, but I just want to say your quest rocks, Monkey. /tg/ in husbando-mode is hilarious and I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread.

We should try doing Ghost in the Shell with warforged, if that's a thing.
>>
>>22706964
Yes, to be quite frank, I'm tired of any ideas that have been played out that much. I like something similar to what we're in now (and I should really not go into this any more tbh) with orcs being very civilized, honorable people and humanoid races being integrated well in multiple civilizations.

>>22707002
I really don't want that old man to be in a bad situation, I think that we should try to teach him guitar.

I also agree with the idea of training our perception to take advantage of our elven traits, maybe asking Varaia about how to unlock the full elven potential (if we can detect things without eyes, or if our eyes are better at long distances, etc.)
>>
>>22707002
besides rest
go over a modified LOTR with them see how they take it

ask for suggestions explain in a world with only humans other races were used as metaphor for different parts of the mind

see if we can get a bird or bunny in the next town and do Enchantment on it think of it like programing get it to do routines and movements vocalizations exct...
>>
>>22707226
Nix the LOTR shit, lets just avoid.
>>
You get Varaia to help with your observational skills. You've already noticed that your elf eyes and ears are awesome, but you haven't really learned to exploit them yet. Plus, that's something you can do while lying down. She teaches you simple observational tips and tricks, like how to filter out some noises, or pick things out over background noises, how to hyperfocus on distant objects, to discern layers of smells, and so on. By the end of the week, your sensory skills are much better when you make an active effort, but not much better when just passively sensing things.

After a few days you start movie nights again. The first night back, you have to take a break part way through, but you're okay on subsequent nights. You work on writing down more material too, both original and converted.

You also teach Jack more orcish. He's getting to the point where he's not yet fluent, but he can get his points across in the language with a little effort.

By the end of the week, you're feeling much better.

Varaia pulls you and Jack aside one evening. "I've been thinking," she says. "I was willing to just wait for romance. But recent events have shown me how important it is to actually pursue what you want. Not everyone lives forever. Not even immortals." She takes both your hand and Jack's hand. "I want to be with you. With both of you. If you're ready. If you'll have me."

Jack looks at you. Jack doesn't want to answer for you, it seems. What do you say?
>>
>>22707466
Say yes. In a few decades, the couple will be back down to a triple anyway. In the mean time, it would be foolish to try not to make everyone happy out of fear of failure.
>>
>>22707466

not yet.
>>
>>22707466
"I'd love to be with the both of you in every sense of the word. Though we'll have to take it slow, at least until my injuries are completely healed."

Then give her a kiss on the lips, then Jack a kiss on the lips.
>>
pull them both in for a big hug lick her ear
>>
>>22707488
But, it would also be foolish to push for something that may end up collapsing under it's own weight. Let's give her time to rest up, and give Jack some time to consider it. If Jack's okay with it, and we're okay with it, it's a go.
>>
>>22707466
"I have feelings for both of you, and I'd be happy to be consensual and sexual with you, but we're going to have to take it slow at first. I'm not quite sure how this sort of relationship would work...I'd want to work through it and start with little baby steps before we do anything serious."

For the record, I don't care too much for the sexual aspect.
>>
>>22707558
Also, this. Baby steps. We don't know how relationships work, remember? We're a neckbeard, not a socially sensible person.
>>
>>22707466
Explain this kind of things works on its own, forcing them can be counterproductive.

We can try, but she should take some time, and maybe he can know someone different to us. Also: trust me, a relation like that does not work easily.
>>
>>22707594
agreed.

might as well be stuttering while saying it, too.
>>
>>22707466
"I'm not really comfortable with that, I'm sorry."
>>
You're on page 9 by the way, might want a new thread.
>>
We should discuss it with Jack, we don't know how Orc catholics view that sort of thing.
>>
>>22707466
Monkey, you're going to loose some people here. Bite the bullet, and go with what you feel more comfortable with.
>>
Rolled 90

sorry but i don't want my first time on a train
>>
>>22707466
lets take it nice and slow... I am still a bit week
>>
"You're a great friend Vararia. Maybe someday I could see you that way, but for now I want it to stay just me and Jack."
>>
>>22707466
Say that we'd love that, but we'd like to take it slow. We're injured and not experienced at this sort of thing.
>>
Some metaphorical spaghetti falls out of your pockets, but you mostly keep it in check. "I, uh. I like this idea. And I'm okay with it. I just want to take it slow, and all. Because I don't have much experience with relationships. At all. Let alone one like this. Yeah. So, let's take it slow and see if it works out, because I don't know whether or not it will yet."

There you go. That wasn't even close to as bad as you used to be. Nor as good as you've been lately.

Jack nods. "I like the sound of that. A trial period, sorta. Right?"

Varaia frowns, but then nods and smiles. "That wasn't quite how I was thinking of it. But that might be for the best. We'll try it out, see if it works."

You all share a kiss, but you feel just a tiny twinge of jealousy when you see Jack and Varaia kiss each other. You take note of it instead of ignoring it. Even though it's just a small feeling now, you'll have to take care to get past it and not let it grow. If you don't, this three-way relationship was doomed before it started.

>I'm ending it here for tonight
>as usual, feel free to ask some questions
>I'll try to answer them before I sleep
>>
"I'd love to Varaia, but I'm very inexperienced in ralationships, and I don't want what I have with Jack to fall apart. If we do this, I want Jack to be okay with it as well, and we need to take the relationship slow and see how it works between the three of us."
>>
I really would prefer we got through the trial period and then ended it. While I don't think we could just outright refuse Vararia there without causing more drama than necessary, I don't like this.
>>
>>22707817
Good compromise, MP.

If I can remind everyone to up-vote this, we got a majority of voters so far voting this quest down last time I checked, so, if you want to keep this going, I suggest we work on getting everyone voting.
>>
>>22707886
I think it would have been a much more net positive vote if whomever archived it hadn't made masturbation the central point of the description.
>>
>>22707817
Also, did we miss something? Varaia went from calling Jack a child to willing to be in a threesome relationship with him. Did they bond while taking care of MC?
>>
>>22707939
Well, taking care of someone with someone else is quite the trope.
>>
>>22707939
I can picture it now. The two of them talking, worried, about Nona, standing together at the foot of the bed. Varaia cries into Jack's chest, he holds her to try to comfort her. They're both all fucked up by the situation but taking solace in each other's company.

The seeds are planted.
