Still got one bag of hot fries, one snickers bar, beer in the fridge, and I haven't eaten all day. time to do this thing!

Archives here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Strike+witches+1989

Character sheet here: http://pastebin.com/zFxWNup1

the sheet is basically a cilf notes version of the quest so far, lot less reading than an archive binge.

You woke up a few hours ago, in the arctic predawn. The other rooms, besides the one occupied by Princess Katsumi and her wingmate, were still empty, giving you an all-too-rare look into the personal lives of your squadronmates. Or, well, the status of their rooms, anyway.

Merlin tends to keep your room at least somewhat clean and organized- enough so that you're not tripping on crap. You haven't been in long enough for her to start decorating, but once she does, you know the room will be full of posters of fighter aircraft and whatever NASA's latest thing is.

Wandering by Ice and Slider's room was like looking into the aftermath of a massive storm. Clothes, paperwork, personal belongings, strewn everywhere. Ice's desk- at least, you guess it's Ice's desk- sits like an island of serenity, clean and plainly kept that way. Slider's mirrors the havoc around it, with a half-eaten bag of potato chips sitting next to a book, her place in it marked with a shotgun shell. A few letters sit on the desk- one opened, two unopened, an unopened one in the trashcan next to it. Ice's desk looked devoid of personal correspondence, but she could just as easily have them filed away somewhere.

1/2
>>
Maverick and Goose's room was a study of contrasts. Over Maverick's bed, predictably, hung the tattered confederate battle flag she claims was carried by one of her grandfathers at Gettysburg. You're not so sure of the truth of that claim, but it certainly looks old. Her desk was empty- you've never, ever seen her do an ounce of paperwork in your entire time with the squadron- though a battered-looking six-shooter was prominently displayed on it. You make a mental note to ask her about that one day, if for nothing else than to hear the story she'll make up.

Goose's side of their room, however, looked painfully empty- till you noticed the little things. A colorful quilt, not the drab wool blanket you're issued, covered her bed, and a small teddy bear sat protectively on the pillow. A small vase with a few flowers- wildflowers? Here? Now?- sat on her desk, while a black-bound notebook lay open next to a pen. A few letters dotted the desk, all opened, and several pieces of balled-up paper occupied the trash can.

2/3 (oops)
>>
Katya's room was piled with books. Hundreds of them- honestly, you're not sure how she got them all, let alone got them all here. The second bed is littered with small stacks of books, the floor has piles ranging height from two or three up to as tall as you, the desk is covered in open books, each a different type and subject. Hawking's A Brief History of Time sits open next to a copy of the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe, a page marked with a ribbon. On top of those lies the Book of Five Rings, and on the other side of the desk, Clausewitz's On War occupies the same space as the Lord of the Rings.

Those sights aside, however, you feel like you're up far, far too early. Unfortunately, you also know that you're awake enough that going back to bed is out of the question. On the bright side, this does afford you the chance to perhaps catch up on the news, or maybe cook breakfast for everyone in the house.

[x] More coffee and news. They can fend for themselves.

You've been fairly information-starved recently, and that ends up overriding your desire to make food by a great deal. You set up another pot of coffee- not that you need to, but hot coffee is always better than cold coffee in your opinion.

The lounge seems empty, and the base outside is pitch black- air raids aside, there's no sense in lighting it up for any soviets that might be looking. The runway is unlit as well, for the moment- they'll turn those lights on when air operations are running, but not before then.

Of course, as far as you know, there's not a whole lot of aircraft here right now anyway. Yours, some support birds, a few base hacks, that's about it. You're sure that reinforcements are already on the way, cooked up by some desk jockey somewhere, but right now, the phrase 'empty' seems to describe the base the best. Even if your fellow fighter crews make up less than a quarter of the personnel on base, without them, the place just seems deserted.

You flop out on one of the couches after finding the TV remote, and turn it on. Though the armed forces network seems to be the default setting around here, the base actually has a surprisingly good selection of channels- you're able to find a civilian early morning news broadcast without too much trouble.

The news is mostly focused on Europe, of course. The recent NATO withdrawal to Berlin is the big story, with a renewed soviet land offensive shoving back allied units from their prepared positions. NATO air domination in the area seems to still be a fact, though you wince when the newscaster starts talking about the losses that soviet air defenses have caused among pilots in the theater.

1/2
>>
NATO witches in the area have started a rotation, with their units spending a few weeks at the front, a few weeks in France, and a few more back in Britain resting. While it's got to beat being on the line the whole time, it's still got to be harsh- this was apparently instituted to help combat fatigue on the NATO witches. Soviet witches, meanwhile, are showing up in limited numbers, further stretching strained NATO assets.

Imperial Japan's entry into the war is matched by scenes of Japanese ships streaming out of port- the caption along the bottom of the screen notes that it's old footage, and that no one is commenting on the possible Soviet reaction.

Meanwhile, the battle of the Bering sea has already made the news- though the report is pretty scattered, and there's no video footage, the navy has confirmed the loss of the USS Kitty Hawk, though they haven't reported the actual number of sailors lost, it has to be high. Of course, the navy spokesman hastens to add, the soviets lost every asset they had in the area, and the sailors, airmen and marines of the task force performed their missions admirably, despite the presence of unexpected martian dreadnaughts.

The UNEDF, as well as the UN's Marswatch program have both made official statements that they're looking into the presence of martian weaponry in the battle, though both are sure to point out that mars remains quiet, and that the seabed confederations are all claiming no involvement.

“Someones lying.” Merlin says from behind you, offering you a fresh cup of coffee.

“Yeah,” you nod, accepting the cup to discover it's already about a quarter gone- she must have been sipping from it on the way up. “But who knows who it is?”

Merlin nods, watching the screen a bit as they replay their report on the battle. “I just wish we could have done something to save the carrier.”

[x] “Yeah, me too.”

You sigh. “Yeah, yeah, me too Sam. Me too.”

“So what are we doing today?” She asks as the news switches to celebrity coverage and the rumor that Dick Clark isn't going to be at the New year's festival in New york this year so he can do a USO tour with Rodney Dangerfield.

You shrug. “Dunno. We're not combat-ready with the boss and everyone else still at sea, and I don't think there's any threat of getting attacked. Right now. Our people ougghta get back sometime today, but till then?” You shrug again.

“Well, what about Breakfast?” She asks. “I'm kinda hungry.”

Your stomach growls in sympathetic agreement. “Yeah, I guess I am too.” You say, laughing.

“Well, let's go then. I think there's some stuff down there for a pretty good meal.” She says, grabbing your hand and pulling.

Downstairs, the kitchen still smells of fresh-brewed coffee, and the pair of refrigerators yield an unexpectedly large bounty of food. You've got the stuff here to make all kinds of breakfast food- but the question is what do you want to make?

It's better for you, having your highest calorie meal first trains your metabolism to store less fat.

And processed carbs (like most cereals) are worse for you than high fat foods on a calorie for calorie basis.

So unless you're eating unsugared oats as a "breakfast cereal", you'd be better off with eggs and bacon.

With the available food, you know you can put out quite a spread here.

And one of your guests is royalty. Imperial royalty. In one of the last countries on earth, and certainly the last major power, to really give a shit about that kind of thing.

Plus, leftovers never killed anyone, right?

Merlin proves to be surprisingly adept at scrambling eggs, mixing in a tiny bit of salt, pepper, and onion powder, While you handle the bacon and sausage, as well as making some fresh-squeezed Orange juice. Briefly, you wonder about the sanity of a world that lets you eat like this, while somewhere, some poor grunt is eating cold MREs in a foxhole- then you remember that if you weren't in a witch unit, you'd be eating at the chow hall just like everyone else.

The smells wafting out of the kitchen seem to be like a summons- seconds after you finish setting the table with the last plate of bacon, princess Katsumi and her wingmate walk in, both still waking up.

“Mornin.” you greet, trying not to burn yourself on the popping grease while you cook up the last of the eggs- not scrambled, this time.

“It certainly doesn't feel like morning.” Katsumi responds, sitting down at the table. “Where is the sun?”

You laugh. “It won't be up for another few hours, yet.” You indicate the food on the table. “Dig in. I'll be along as soon as I'm done with these eggs.”

That proves to be all the invitation they need- you sit down in time to secure the last couple pieces of bacon.

“So, Lieutenant commander Bishop, is this usual?” Katsumi asks, spearing another waffle- one of the ones Merlin made, judging by the chocolate chips in it- and reaching for the bottle of aunt jemima.

“But there's always this much food?” She asks, sounding surprised.

“Usually. We made a bit more because of company, but believe me, the leftovers won't last when the rest of the squadron gets home.” You say, nodding.

“Ah. Well, they should be here soon. I doubt the captain will want his carrier that full of aircraft for long.” Ayumi says. “We should be getting back too, highness.”

Katsumi looks over at her compatriot. “ Ayumi! It would be rude to eat then leave! Besides, father always said to us that we needed to learn the ways of other people, didn't he?”

Ayumi's eyes narrow briefly, then widen in shock. “Y-you can't be serious, Highness! How would the men of the fleet see that?”

“The fleet already has one of my brothers and my younger sister. They will be fine without me.” Katsumi says.

>>
>>22743214

No, because I know you people are only doing it because MAI JAPANESE PRINCESS WAIFU.

You cretins.
>>
>>22743157
Frank isn't that sort of person, it may be one thing to lightly troll Col. Bitchtits, it's another to proceed to bluntly hit on a japanese princess. Even if she doesn't mind, odds are some other people would. That and SWQ universe has a history of hijinks coming back to haunt the perpetrators if not utterly derailing whatever we're trying to do.

>>22743171
Yep and we'll be lucky if the thread gets back on track once they've begun. At this rate, I'd welcome one of Ghost's action scenes out of the ass.

>>22743214

>>22743272
All this argument ad hominem, prove to me that doing this is a terrible idea.
>>
>>22743289
The issue isn't so much the hijinks in this but the retards trying to derail things into a whole ocean of them... just like SWQ. The whole thing last thread with the brownies and super soakers was actually fun as it was controlled and not a self-perpetuating drive of stupid.

>>22743316
First prove to me what we have to gain from this risky action. That and this is how SWQ threads end up derailed into the low-grade Hijink muck, something of which drove a way some good readers and attracted a bunch of stupid ones.
>>
>>22743251
I'm doing it because it would be funny. Pretty sure that either Katya or Ice has the waifu slot locked up tight, and actually going after a Princess is a whole different story from joking around with one.

>>22743272
If she thinks we're seriously hitting on her, then we let her down gently. But if she takes it as the joking around it's supposed to be, it'll give her the impression that we're not the same stuffed-shirt assholes that no doubt populate most of the IJN hierarchy.
>>
>>22743316
It is inconsistent with the characterization thus far. Frank has been aggressive behind the stick, but quite professional elsewhere. Considering he is currently entertaining someone who is both an ambassador of sorts for a foreign military, and FUCKING ROYALTY besides, suggests that he might restrain any wild hairs he might otherwise entertain.
>>
>>22743388

She DID ask Fronk to treat her as a squadronmate. I see it as him just inducting her alittle into the craziness around Spellcaster.
>>
>>22743388
Yes.

Entertaining royalty who seems to be making it pretty clear that she wants to be treated like just another soldier for a change, instead of an untouchable Imperial Princess.

"Snark with her like she was Slider or Maverick" is not the same thing as "try to get in her nonexistent pants".
>>
>>22743388
Fuck that shit. This quest thread basically amounts to fanfiction based off one of the most stereotypically anime anime ever. Stop taking it so seriously.
>>
>>22743360
Alright, that second point is a valid concern. I just don't see how countersnarking someone is a risky action though.
>>22743388
I'm sorry, this is the Frank who named his sister Octane, has a joking relationship with Nixon, got into shenanigans with Maverick, and a lot more? sure, hes serious when it matters, but off duty and in situations like this? It fits with characterization.
>>
>>22743450
Women are infamous for not being able to take what they give out and she might not be prepared for spellcaster brand sort of thing.

Why else would Frank's first response be to RETREAT?

Also does the word "international incident" mean anything to you? No matter how laid back she might be, that's always a risk, if not from her, from someone else.

It also takes one big red button (what you're proposing) to start a chain reaction that ends up wasting a thread with pointless hijinks
>>
>>22743412
>>22743427

We've had years of time and numerous combat sorties with our squadronmates, they're like family to us, we know them so well.

This princess just appeared out of the blue yesterday, and we know that pissing off Japanese royalty is bad mojo. We have no idea what she'll accept as good-natured ribbing and what will cause genuine offense.
>>
Holy crap, some people are taking this snarking thing waaaay to seriously.

[x]Snark.

Besides, even if it turns out a little like SWQ, it's not like the fallout of the jokes were all bad.
>>
>>22743517

I, for one, don't enjoy having my time wasted with bullshit that could have been easily avoided, which is what happened with SWQ.

I mean, for fuck's sake, there were multiple threads of nothing but stupid shenanigans snuffing out any hint of plot progression or character development.
>>
>>22743500

>First response: to retreat

I'd say a mild form of flight or fight. And fronk has shown a good tendency to stick with fight.

>international incident

Point but you forget one thing. She asked the question first. That means she'd probably be ok with a snarky response/prepared for some some of retort.

An 'incident' sparked off by the princess herself isn't one the Royal Family will want to publicise.
>>
>>22743500
>Women are infamous for not being able to take what they give out and she might not be prepared for spellcaster brand sort of thing.
Not gonna touch that with a standard issue ten foot pole
>Why else would Frank's first response be to RETREAT?
Because Ghost thought those options would appeal to us. I dont know
>Also does the word "international incident" mean anything to you? No matter how laid back she might be, that's always a risk, if not from her, from someone else.
We are at fucking WAR. International incidents are luxuries reserved for times of peace, not when you have a super power breathing down your neck.
>It also takes one big red button (what you're proposing) to start a chain reaction that ends up wasting a thread with pointless hijinks
So what do you suggest, we pick only the plot development over potential character development? We could earn the respect of royalty here, or at the very least make a new friend. We aren't suggesting "HURR DURR, LETS GO CHASE THAT UNRELATED THING"
>>
>>22743578
GhostDivision isn't Planefag you know. They have different writting styles. What planefag would do, Ghost won't.

That and there were character developpement in those shenanigan threadsor they set up the foundations for future character growth. Subtle ones, sure, but they were there.
>>
>>22743512
We're American, she's Japanese. There's at least some part of her that's quietly shocked we have any idea what politeness is to begin with.

What I'm saying is, we've got a bit of leeway here.
>>
>>22743578
Indeed with the only ones being amused being the morons who keep on pushing said big red buttons as said hijinks weren't as good as say what happened to Malloy recently in SWQ.

>>22743626
Well he wasn't planning on anon choosing the route of most derpage and going the opposite way he planned. That and we don't know if he'll shut down the chain reaction of derp or not.
>>
>>22742983
>touch the butt.
>>
>>22743602
I disagree on the latter point, as this is still Imperial Japan and they will be playing by Imperial rules. Which may involve us taking a blade if our tongue runs too far. Further, I would like a reprieve from shenanigan laden SWQs. As much as I enjoy planefags shenanigans, they come at the cost of most plot and character progression. I would prefer this story to keep moving.

[x] “And with that, I'm going to take my leave. C'mon Merlin, let's go wander around the boneyard.”
(When I started writing, this option had the lead. sorry if it's lost since then. I did try to get in some snark though, so hopefully it's acceptable)

You stand up, clearing your place at the table and depositing your dishes at the counter. “Well, ma'am, I can't really say.” You answer, grabbing your field jacket from the back of your chair. “I haven't had a real good look at it.”

Ayumi turns red and puffs up, outraged. “Why you-”

Katsumi's laughter cuts her off. “I'll have to ask after you've had a better chance to look, then!” She says. “I certainly have the best one in the unit, though, yes?”

“I dunno about that, either, ma'am.” You say, motioning for Merlin to hurry up. “I mean, some of the other girls....”

At this point, you're pretty sure Ayumi would stick out like a flare on an infrared screen.

Katsumi laughs again. “Then we'll have to arrange a competition, yes?”

You laugh. “Maybe, ma'am. We'll talk to Ice when she gets back. C'mon Merlin. Let's go poke around the boneyard.”

You grab a flashlight, and Merlin has the presence of mind to grab a small first-aid kit, which makes sense if you're going to be poking around a boneyard filled with aircraft that haven't been maintained in forty plus years in the arctic ocean air.

Outside, it's cold, windy, and humid, with the salt air again reminding you how long it's been since you've been at sea. The base is starting to wake up- other points of light bounce along the ground as Marines and navy SP patrol the base on foot, while a few sets of headlights crawl across the roads, heading here and there on their own missions.

The boneyard isn't too far from your building- about a half a mile inland, along a dirt road.

1/2
>>
Rumor has it, way back when, the people occupying the base dumped the worst of their junked aircraft here, after stripping them for parts. Then sometime back around when everybody was converting from turning engines to burning ones, the navy figured it'd be cheaper to leave their outdated birds on site here, rather than ship them back to the states.

The 'great graveyard of the north' has nothing to compare with Davis-Monthan, of course- nothing here could be returned to service without being completely and totally rebuilt at a factory. Years of salt air corrosion and arctic conditions have seen to that. Still, there's some aircraft here you'd love to be able to fly- maybe after the war?

A squadron of derelict F7F tigercats shares a row with a few hulked P-38s, their tires long since rotted away. Canopies stand open on a few fighters, and looking inside leads finding a few bird nests built on control consoles or the rusted frames of the seats, their canvas only a memory.

Further back, larger airframes stand, twin-engine bombers, maybe other night fighters. You heard there's some old jets in here too, but nobody seemed sure on what they were. You know that at one point, all three flying services operated from the airfield, so it could just as easily be USAF jets as USN or USMC ones.

Deeper into the boneyard, the hulks of bigger aircraft stand- relics of a bygone age. Six ancient B-25s stand next to a pair of PB4Y-2 Privateers, and a single oddly shaped bird with a pair of wing-mounted pods with glass up front and a pusher engine behind it.

The other side of the row shows a pair of late-model P-61 fighters, their distinctive black paint long since faded to a dark grey. Next to them, a PBY and a PBM sit, along with another flying boat, it's paint faded to a light green, but the roundel of the IJN still clearly visible on it's rear fuselage.

“Wow.... “ Merlin breathes, shining her flashlight up through the cockpit of a P-61, the glass clouded over by years of exposure.

“Yeah...” You agree, similarly impressed. You know that, if you make it out of this whole deal in one piece, you'll be back to salvage some of these birds.

A pair of single engine fighters- F4U corsairs- squat at the end of the row, one resting on it's belly, it's gear collapsed years ago. Hard to say what their history is- but both show the distinctive patching of combat veteran aircraft.

“Should we keep going?” Merlin asks.

[] “yeah, let's see what else is in here. Looks like there's some big birds over there”
[] “Let's look in these old gals, see what we can find. “
[] “I heard there were jets here. Wonder where they are?”

[x] “Let's look in these old gals, see what we can find. “

“Let's poke around these birds some, see if we can find anything interesting.” You say, sweeping your flash light over the privateers and onto the aircraft next to them.

“Any Idea what that thing is?” you ask Merlin, indicating the shining aircraft.

She shakes her head. “No clue. Doesn't look like anything I've ever seen.”

"Can you ask it?" you say, holding your fingers up by your head in poor imitation of her familiar's wings.

Merlin shakes her head. “Junkyards are.... unpleasant.” She says, nervously. “Not all machines want to rest, especially aircraft. They... they miss the sky. Especially old warriors like this. I'd rather just let them sleep”.

You grunt in response, looking for a foothold so you can climb up. Merlin walks over, looking up as you find enough purchase to climb on top of the aircraft's wing. Looking inside the fuselage shows a station for a gunner, as well as a two place cockpit- pilot and navigator, maybe? Pilot and radio operator? Hard to tell. The two wing nacelles show what looks for all the world like a gunner’s station, but the mount up front is too big for any gun you've ever seen in an aircraft from this era- looks more like a tank gun mount than anything else, at least 30mm, possibly bigger.

>>
You jump down, walking over to examine the B-25s. They're in really bad condition- enough that you're not going to mess with them. These six old birds have seen hard, hard use, and earned their rest, you think to yourself.

The P-61s are both in passable condition- better than you thought they'd be, considering they're probably older than the tigercats you saw earlier. Still, it's a relative thing- they're not in good shape regardless of if it's better than others or not- the gun turrets on top are long gone, and the noses sit open, revealing empty cavities where the radars once sat. One aircraft still has it's engines, though, which is fairly surprising.

Checking the one with it's engines, though, reveal that the interior is shot. The flight controls have been removed, and the instrumentation panel is a hollow wreck- a few gauges still exist, but most others are just a tangle of wire and little else. Scorch marks on the deck behind the gunner's seat tell something of the aircraft's history- but what it is, you can't say.

The roar of jet engines interrupts your search. You pop your head out the canopy in time to watch a Wyvern, virtually the twin of yours save for it's paint land, followed shortly by the distinct dot of a witch.

“Hey Frank!” Merlin calls, from next to the PBM. “Did you see that? We should go see who that is!”

[] “Nah. If they need us, they can come get us.”
[] “Yeah, you're probably right. Let's go.”

I agree that she has a different type of power, and that it's pretty awesome in and of itself. However, early on in the quest, Merlin had a complex about not being able to fly strikers like a "real witch," possibly due to her sister and/or academy hazing. Her new Fronk-related trauma has made it less prominent, but who knows if she's still sensitive to it at this point.

tl;dr Merlin is not for lewds, Merlin is for psychological traumas.

[x] “Yeah, you're probably right. Let's go.”

“Yeah, you're probably right. Let's go.” You say, mentally making a note to come back here when it's light out and you've got some time to kill.

Outside the hangar, the guards examine your and Merlin's ID long enough that you're sure they're looking over it- which you don't mind, but you're anxious to meet whoever this is.

Inside, the second Wyvern is parked next to yours, the canopy just opening, revealing the helmeted heads of it's crew. The witch- a blonde girl in an unfamiliar uniform- is just dismounting her strikers and hanging up her rifle. Her strikers are odd, as well- definitely not American-made. Delta wing, with forward canards and a white paint job.

Noticing you, she walks over, a French navy boarding saber swinging from her hip. She stops in front of you and salutes, clicking her heels together as she snaps to attention. “Lieutenant de vaisseau Rosalie Kent.” She says, by way of introduction. “Marine Nationalie.”

You return the salute. “Lieutenant commander Frank Bishop, United States Navy. You're a long way from home, Miss Kent.”

She remains at attention. “Oui. I requested to be assigned here. I have heard that this unit is the best the US navy has to offer, and I refuse to serve anywhere else.”

Introduced.

The first prototype fly in 1986 and those colours match that of the tech demonstrator perfectly.

See those things just behind the air intakes? Canards.

Tech demonstrators tend not to be armed, like the F-15 STOL/MTD. Then again we're pretty much running on Ace Combat physics and those two run around with guns.

Apparently those are strakes, and the Mirage 4000 is the one with the canards, my bad.

Then again googling Rosalie Clostermann gives Rafale-A, so I'm wrong.

[x] “You heard right, Lieutenant.”

“You heard right, Lieutenant. The girls are the best in the business, bar none. Hope you can keep up with them.” You say, smiling. “Till they get back, though, I'll show you to the house. We're alert only till they get back. Oh, and we don't stand too much on the formality shit here.”

She cracks a small smile at that. “Bon. I was worried you might be.”

You laugh. “Nah. We're pretty informal around here. You have your stuff?”

She nods, indicating a tan canvas bag.

“Outstanding. Let's wait for my new pilot, then we'll go get you squared away.” You say.

Your new pilots, meanwhile, have dismounted their bird, and are doing their post-flight inspection.

You notice both of them fill out their flight suits a little...differently than you expected. And one's got a carbon fiber spring in place of her right leg below the knee.

Their bird is painted the same slate grey of a factory job, with the addition of the infamous shark's mouth on it's nose, the eyes positioned about level with the pilot's seat. The tails carry a shark logo unlike any you've seen.

More tellingly, the small red stars below the canopy mark that the crew's got 8 kills to their name- you don't know what front they were on, but that's not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

As they complete their walkaround, the two of them turn towards you- and you not that they've both still got their visors down and their masks on, which is usually a sure sign of someone trying to screw with someone else.

[x] “Looks like you two are going to fit right in if you're trying that so early.”

“You two are going to fit right in if you're trying that trick already.” You say, laughing. “But really, we just met. Shouldn't we at least go on a date first?”

The two of them look at each other breifly, then, with almost perfect synchronization, they pull their masks off, revealing mouths with very sharp, toothy grins. With lots of teeth.

You'd be impressed, really, if you didn't live with a bunch of females who could sprout animal bits at random and act as a nite-lite on command.

“Not impressed, lieutenant Styles and... uh, Styles. Related?” you ask.

The one with the prosthetic pulls off her helmet, revealing short, spiky hair and a pair of piercing blue eyes.

“Twins, sir.” She says. “And while Rose may be too nice to ask...”

“It's ROSALIE.” The french witch says from beside you.

“But we've been in the air since Seattle, and we're damn hungry. You got food here?” She continues, seemingly oblivious to the interruption.

“Food would be good, yes.” Her sister agrees.

Rosalie's stomach squeals loudly, and she blushes. “I... Yes. I think I should eat as well.”

The Alaskan Front is pretty much all but won, with the Empire of Japan entering the war on the side of the US and the Soviet's Flying Carrier and Ballistic Super-Sub both down.

“Man, the boss is gonna have a heart attack when she gets back.” You say, sighing.

“Sir, food?” one of the Styles twins says.

“Up in the house, grab your shit and let's go.” You say.

“Hey Merlin, you want to run ahead and let Katsumi and Ayumi know We're coming back with friends?” You say.

Merlin hesitates. “I... I guess. D-don't take too long, ok?” She says.

She runs up the hill to the house, clearly visible all the way in.

“Man, what's her deal?” One of the sharkwitches says to the other.

“Oh, she clearly likes him.” Her sister responds.

“Clearly. Seems young though.”

“Far too young. Maybe he's trying to seduce her?”

“That'd be pretty lewd. She doesn't look like the kind.”

“Not for Lewd?”

“Clearly not for lewd. Did you see her? That's a little sister attachment.”

“I'M NOT ATTACHED TO YOU LIKE THAT.”

“See? Clearly a little sister thing.”

“She's my RIO.” You interrupt. “She's had trouble adjusting to some... things. That happened.”

“Over Tanana?” The sharkwitch with the prosthetic says.

You nod. “Yeah. Got her out of the aircraft, but I guess watching me go down on fire didn't really help much.”

“Derp.” The one without the prosthetic says. “You didn't think about that?”

“I didn't think being trapped in a burning tomcat would serve her very well.” You say, somewhat testily.

“Fair point. Food?” She responds.

“Is that all you think about?” Rosalie asks from behind you.

“Nah, we think about other stuff Rosie! But we're hungry, so food's kinda important.” Says the sharkwitch.

“IT'S ROSALIE.” She responds, as you open the door to the house and usher them inside.

Wait a tic...How old are these sparkles? Did they cross train into being pilots? I know the military doesn't give a rat ass about age in this universe, but they are working something considerably more complex than a standard striker.

I know young pilots (no pun intended) were not uncommon in WW2 era, but this would be strange in modern military. Even if they get the witches "whatever I have sparkles" pass for age.

[x] “have you three been at this the whole way up?”

“Have you three been at this the whole way up?” You ask.

“Nah, Rosa cut off her Radio about halfway through the flight. Or stopped responding to us, anyway.” Says the Witch with the prosthetic, making a beeline for the fridge.

“ROSALIE. ROS-A-LEE.” Rosalie says, balling her fists by her sides and shouting.

“Anyway, ladies. Lemme see your orders so at least I can pretend I was responsible.” You say, holding out your hand.

Rosalie pulls a folded up copy of her orders out of a pocket on her jacket, while one of the sharkwitches- the one by the Fridge, randomly slaps at pockets while holding a waffle in her mouth till she finds her own orders. Her sister simply deposits a scrunched up piece of paper on top of the table.

You excuse yourself long enough to go upstairs- passing through the lounge, where Katsumi is busily taking in American culture- watching Die hard- and Ayumi is napping on a different couch. Merlin sits near Katsumi, explaining some of the 'finer points' of the movie. Not that you were aware there were any, but whatever.

You make sure Merlin knows you're back in the building before heading down the mostly disused office wing, noting that there's still bits of water balloon around here. You deposit the stack of orders on Ice's desk and head back out, noting that there's aircraft landing at the base- Phantoms- and the cruisers from the battle group are beginning to pull into the harbor.

[x] Go back to the hangar, greet the girls when they come in.

“Hey Merlin, looks like they're coming home. You wanna go down to the hangar with me and greet 'em?” You ask.

“Yeah! Wait for me!” She says, hopping off the couch.

Katsumi, for her part, seems engrossed in the movie.

Merlin looks back up the stairs as she shrugs on her- your- jacket. “I'm afraid she's going to become a monster. She already asked if yippie ki yay was something we said on a regular basis.”

“Aw hell.” You respond.

You both walk back down to the hangar in relative silence as more aircraft continue to land. The Kitty Hawk's remaining aircraft are being rebased here for a while, which means that the place will be at least a little more crowded.

Maverick and a tired-looking Goose are the first of your witches to taxi in to the hangar. Both greet you, Goose somewhat subdued.

“You ok?” You ask the little witch.

She nods. “Just really sleepy.” She says.

Maverick explains. “She was up all night, patching up survivors the Japs picked up.”

She smiles, tiredly. “I just... just did what I could.” She says. “Ice and Slider and Katya were right behind us. I'm really tired Patty, can we just go to bed?”

Maverick looks down. “Yeah. C'mon kid, let's go. There food in the house, Frank?”

“Yeah, assuming the sharks haven't eaten it all.” You say with a frown. “We got some new squadronmates in.”

Maverick shrugs. “Sounds like fun for Ice.” And she and Goose head up to the house.

Katya is next in, and enfolds you in a rib-cracking hug when she's out of her strikers. “Ack! Easy Katya, there's metal in there!” You wheeze.

She backs off, blushing slightly. “I am sorry, Frank. We were worried you might not have made it home. Maverick thought you would run out of fuel, but Slider and Ice said you wouldn't try without enough to make it.”

“Well, they were right. We got some new blood in while you were out.” You say as Ice and Slider roll to a halt in their striker stands.

“Oh?” Katya asks. You indicate Ice and Slider. “Let's wait for them, so I only have to go over this once.”

“So what happened Frank?” Ice says. “We thought you were going to land, then you and the two Japanese witches took off for here!”

“Yeah,” you nod. “Katsumi thought the deck looked a bit crowded to risk, so we headed home. They didn't tell you?”

Ice shakes her head. “Radios were out- Long story short, some hotshot pilot asshole thought it'd be a good idea to do a supersonic flyby of the tower. Knocked out the radio masts for a few hours.”

“Oh. Well, shit. I guess.” You say. “So, by the way uhffff!” You're cut off when Slider hugs you- just as hard as Katya did.

“Slider. Easy! I haveta breathe!” You gasp for the second time in the day.

“Quit tryin ta get shot down.” She says, releasing you.

>Inside, you find a sign with time-worn, yet legible writing: NO GIRLS ALLOWED...then...something about G...OME....
>Then an incredibly spry german centenarian hops out and kicks you in the dick
>>
Ice grins slightly at that.

“Anyway, like I was saying. There's five new witches in the house.” You say, taking great effort to not take several deep breaths to re-inflate your lungs.

“Five?” Ice asks. “What, are you trying to start a collection? Some people might not be happy about that.”

“Wasn't my idea, boss. Honest. Their orders are on your desk.” You say, holding up your hands.

“Well, it is what it is. I'm starved, is there evening chow?” She says.

“Nah, but I can cook some.” You answer.

Turns out that Rosalie is a damn fine cook too. Between you, her, and Merlin, you make a meal everyone seems to enjoy.

And Slider and the Shark twins have already learned how to smile the EXACT same slow, devious smile at the same time- and slowly turn their heads in unison to stare at you.

Shit's creepy, man.

I still saw the best use of the underwear is to give it to our "favorite girl". And then promptly walk over and stick them on the nose of the wyvern. We will probably be dead men afterwards, but it will be funny.

Night Ghost. T'was good times.

The only hard part about doing this is setting up the cues properly. I used to do it with my sib back in high school.

Anyway, thanks for the thread, have a nice night.

Saaaad

She's just waiting til we're alone so she can hug us sans embarassing comments

Bah, Katya hugs are best hugs.

Hugs from a boa constrictor are better.

>Watching Katya and Slider hugging Fronk

I want to hug him too...
>>
>>22749201
Katya hugs are easy to get, whereas Slider hugs are incredibly rare and hard to find. Slider hugs have a greater value.
>>
>>22749213
Whats wrong with being affectionate?
>>
>>22749259
Nothing, but the rarity of a Slider hug makes each and every one a valuable commodity, to be treasured forever.

>>22749213
agreed

And the passion in a katya hug makes each and every one a valuable commodity, to be treasured forever.

I consider Merlin hugs the best, plenty in supply and each one full of affecton.

Well, yeah, and don't forget the adorbs.

To deny her problems is to deny her, and by extension her hugs. You want a hug you'd better damn well be ready to keep hugging her until she's ready to let go.
>>
>>22749468
ie: Never
>>
>>22749596
She can be like an adoptive live-in little sister with Fronk and whoever he shacks up with.
>>
>>22749596

As long as she doesn't fall for Chopper
>>
>>22749610
What, are you saying he's not good enough for her?
>>
>>22749623

You have obviously never play AC5, my friend.

There you go again with the brushing off.
>>
>>22749631
I have. He's a good guy. I don't see how it could possibly end badly for them to get together.
I mean it's not like she already has issues from Fronk almost dying, there's no way his death would mess her up.
>>
>>22749609

There is a need to wean her off Fronk.

The debate comes up again on who is worthy of little sista.

NONE

Holy Hell. There are martian colonies on the seabed.

So thats where those alien fuckers are.

Probably the Harbinger's faction.

The what?
>>

The gigantic sub in SuWQ that went rogue after being backstabbed by martian politics.

Plausible that they'd not be excatly welcome back on mars.
