Hello Again, /tg/. It's that day of the week.
Are you ready for some Digimons?

Archive:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Digimon%20Quest

Last time, we were about to investigate the strange new arrival at our good friend Zoe's house, and out Digimon digivolved for the first time. Let's get down to business.

"There's one of you...Digimon at Zoe's."

I slowly turn to look at my friend.

"...I think we need to get to your place. I fear for your cupboards."

"Um, I don't know if-" She looks down at herself, stuck in the bed, and I quickly amend my statement.

"No, you don't have to, if you don't feel up to moving! I can go myself if I have to." She nods, and reaches into her pocket, pulling out a key.

"This goes to the back door. You don't want to be seen going in through the front, since the neighbors might be watching."

I grimace and nod as I take the key. I know annoying neighbors.

"Thanks." I tell her. I don't want to make anything difficult for Zoe.

She's already got it pretty hard, and if I can make it easier for her this way, then I'll try my hardest.

"I'm going with you." Salamon sends me a small grin. "I might be able to convince the other Digimon to help us out, don't you think?"

A bit hesitant, I agree. The "Digimon" may be a bit unusual, but so far I don't have any reason not to trust her.

Plus, she looks like a dog, doesn't she? That'll keep people from looking too closely. I hope.

As we leave the house, I keep a sharp eye out for anything unusual. I can't be caught unaware, not with things as weird as they are.

[] head straight to Zoe's

[] see if I can pick up some more food for the other Digimon

>>
>>22805627
Picking with us at least a sandwich will help here, though.
Remember how much our digimon liked it?

If the first thing this new one sees is a sandwich with a friendly face, well, I think we'd be much better off in the diplomacy department.
>>
>>22805642
Heh.
Certainly seemed to appease our digimon.

>>
Gale is still here, right?
Anyway, I think the decision is leaning towards moving towards Zoe's place with decent speed (I for one like the idea of sneaking away, because that doc is still there).

Also, come to think of it, we've got our own digimon - we wouldn't really have to be that worried about Zoe's, do we?
>>
> as >>22805729 says, this seems to be the way the vote is leaning.
>Alright, then. I'll get to writing this up.
>Glad to see you all, by the way.
>>
>>22805719
Hm, fair enough, even though it doesn't strike me as right that there's anyone alive who couldn't like sandwiches.

So, eh, go and hurry to Zoe's then - she said we should do our best to hurry, right?
>>
>>22805729
It's not so much worrying about her Digimon, so much as worrying about it messing up her house.
>>
>>22805765
Huh.
Ok, yeah, I'll admit I didn't think of that.
Eh, we'll see how it goes.
>>
I reach for the door, Salamon just a little bhind me, before I hesitate.

I shut the doctor out earlier.

He's still out there, and he probably thinks Zoe's in some kind of trouble.

It would be a VERY bad idea to go out there now.

At least, out that way. The back door and windows aroubnd the side might be alright...but a window might be a bit too conspicuous.

With a motion to Salamon, I quietly make my way to the other end of the house, reaching for the back door.

I listen, to make sure there's nobody on the other side, and do my best to unlock it quietly.

Salamon gives me a curious look.

"Um...whatcha doin'?"

I shush her, still listening.

"When Zoe started freaking out a little while ago, her doctor was here. I need to know if he's still out there or not."

"Oh." Now she looks a bit nervous. "...Do we not want the doctor here?"

I don't answer just yet, but instead open the door.

Nobody there, that I can see.

I take the first step out, and hear footsteps from the side.

He's coming around to the back already. Shit.

Only one thing to do, then.

I pick up Slamon, an action followed by a surprised squeak from the puppy-like creature, and make a mad dash for the fence that blocks off my backyard from my neighbor's.

There's a portion of the fence that's lower than the rest, and I remember climbing it as a kid.

Well, here's hoping I can still pull that off. With only one arm, no less.

In the background, I hear the Doctor shouting for me to get back, but I ignore his yells.

The back door is locked from the inside, so Zoe won't be pulled into any of this for the moment, and the Doc only got in because I let him in.

So for now, I can just focus on getting away from him.

Gathering myself, I shift a still-protesting Salamon in my arm and leap.

The jump carris me to about chest level with the rest of the fence, and I catch the edge, hoisting myself up without too much trouble.

Dropping down, I can hear the Doctor on the other side.

"Young man, you're going to have a lot of explaining to do when I get my hands on you!"

Ignoring him once more, I think back to my original plan. Zoe's Digimon, who or whatever it is, is gonna be hungry, as far as my experience goes. There's a minimart not far from here, but the food isn't always the best quality, even if it is cheap. On the other hand, I don't think I'd be able to bring Salamon into a proper grocer's. And then there's the idea of making food AT Zoe's, using her stock. But that seems kind of presumptuous...

>fuck, I keep messing up my own name

Zoe will understand.

It's probably eating something already as it is.

Feeding it something won't hurt.

I hope.

Still carrying Salamon, I make my way back into the street, and then make a beeline for Zoe's place.

If I can make it out of the neighborhood without him catching me, then I should be able to get to my destination without him even knowing where it is I'm heading for.

After a good deal of running (and curious stares by people I pass, mostly directed at the now silent Salamon) I finally reach Zoe's street.

Taking a moment to catch my breath, I take in my surroundings.

First thing that anyone would notice about this place?

It's fucking huge. Not Just Zoe's house. All of the houses here.

They're all huge.

My own two-story house is pretty damned showy for my part of town, but these? They're almost out of place.

No, they ARE out of place. This is the richest neighborhood in this side of the city.

That Zoe lives here ALONE, for all intents and purposes, has always worried me. It shouldn't, really, but it does.

Zoe's own house has two stories, like mine, but it's as big as two of my house put together. If not bigger.

The Waldgraves aren't one of those familes who have been here FOREVER, not like some others in this neighborhood.

They only moved here when Zoe was born, if I remember correctly.

Their house, on the other hand, is pretty damned old. Very showy, very ornate. Very "Rich."

I work my way around to the back, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible, and head for the back door, fishing out the key Zoe gave me.

I set Salamon down -and recieve a short glare, probably for picking her up and lugging her around like that in the first place- and open the lock.

(cont'd)
>>
>>22807157

Immediately, Salamon's ears twitch, and her head whips around to face the source of a sound only she heard.

"There's definitely something in there." She confirms, and I nod, suddenly wishing I had brought my bat.

Calling on my memories of the layout from when I was here as a kid, I know that there are multiple bedrooms, a small attic, a basement, the main rooms most homes have, and a kitchen. There is also a study that belongs to Zow's parents, but I've never been in there before.

I should...

>>
>>22807219

I don't think we would know where the computer is (we've apparently not been here in a good long while)?
So yeah, probably best to go to the kitchen first.
Then we get food, and that might even get Zoe's digimon to come out on its own.

If not, eh, we go and prepare to offer sandwiches, while protected by our own digimon, so nothing goes wrong.

>Kitchen it is.

I head for the kitchen first. That Digimon is probably going to be hungry, and if normal snacks aren't enough, then perhaps one of those sandwiches I fed Salamon when she was that little blob...

Opening the door to the kitchen itself, the scene I walk into wasn't at all what I was expecting.

The kitchen is in one piece.

Pretty much.

There's a bag of cereal- the generic bulk kind- spilled all over the floor, and some kind of tracks in the crushed rice puffs.

The Digimon obviously isn't here, though. Salamon would know, for one thing, and I don't see anything out of the ordinary at all, aside from that bag.

With a sigh, I begin to search for a broom and dust pan. I can't just leave the mess here, after all.

After sweeping up, I take out some of the required materials I would need to make a sandwich. Multiple kinds of sandwiches, actually.

After preparing the myriad delectables - one of them went to Sal, which she seemed very grateful for- I head out to investigate...

>Zoe's room it is

Considering how Salamon showed up, I'd hazard a guess that Zoe's own little friend might have come through her computer as well.

With this in mind, the only place I can think of to have one's personal computer would be her room.

I head up the stairs at a fairly quick pace, Salamon following behind. Watching her jump up the stairs is, I must admit, adorable.

Waiting for her to finish climbing, I ask if she can smell the other digimon. She sniffs a few times, then frowns.

"His smell is everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. He must have been running around for hours."

Well, there goes that theory. But at the very least, I can see if there's anything left of her room, if that is in fact where this digimon came from.

It's not hard to find Zoe's room: it hasn't changed locations from when we were kids.

In fact, not much about her room has changed at all.

It brings a smile to my face when I s-

"Hey!" Salamon interrupts my reminiscing, an irritated look on her face. "We're here to find this digimon, not daydream!"

The way she says it might not be the nicest, but she's right. If someone else had come and seen something they shouldn't have, there would be a problem. Best to find the thing before it can cause any more trouble.

The only problem being that it isn't here.

There's no evidence that it was here, period.

Nothing destroyed, nothing in shambles, no real mess.

Hell, the room is pretty damned clean, from what I can see.

Should I check the closet or bed, before I move on to another room? (and which room?)

[] yes! For Great justice!

[] no! Be a gentleman!

There's no point in continuing to look around here. If the digimon isn't here, and hasn't been here, then there's no need to keep searching this room.

As the two of us leave, and I close the door, a thought strikes me.

"Salamon, would it be a bad idea to call for it?" She thinks to herself, then shakes her head.

"If you make it clear that you're here as a friend of Zoe's, I don't see why you can't." And then there's that.

"why is it so important I be a friend of Zoe's for him to come out?" The little dog gives me an odd look.

"Because he's her partner. Just like I'm yours." The way she says it makes it sound like the most apparent thing in the world, and my asking genuinely confused her.

Huh. Well...

We head back downstairs, and begin to call out.

"Whoever is here, I'm a friend of Zoe's! We spoke on the phone earlier!"

No response.

"I come bearing food!"

Still nothing. I try once more.

"Look, Zoe's sick, and I can't stay here much longer. If you want to see her, you'll have to come with us."

Salamon spins around after I say that, on full alert.

There, coming out from behind a door is...

What the fuck is that?

It doesn't resemble anything I've ever seen. Is that a cat's face on a tetherball?

Is that a frill?

I have literally no idea what I'm looking at.

And then it opens its mouth.

"Zoe is sick?"

I nod, and take one of the sanwiches, offering it to the little...thing.

"Technically, she has been sick for most of her life. She had a minor relapse this morning at school and I took her to my house because it was closer. We got her medicine and she's in bed resting. It's why I called earlier."

The little fuzzball thinks, and looks between me and the sandwich, then takes it tentatively, carrying it off a short distance away while eating. Once he confirms that the offering isn't dangerous, he devours the rest of the sandwich, and then looks at me with a serious expression.

"Take me to Zoe."

A bit unnerved by the little guy's tone, I agree.

Now, how to get him back home without someone noticing.

I can't just carry around a couple of things that look like stuffed animals, and that Doctor may still be around when I get back.

Then I catch sight of one of those drawstring bags, wadded up in a corner, along with a bunch of paper and plastic bags.

I take the bag, and test the fabric with a tug. When it holds well, I nod to myself, and Motion for the little creature to get inside. All I get is a glare in return. With a sigh, I put the rest of the sandwiches in the plastic bags, and then pick up Sala and the newcomer, who protests mightily to this, and make for the back door. Setting down the lion-like creature, I locked the back door, and then, picking up the little animal...

made the mad dash back to my place once more.

Being seen with Salamon was bad enough.

But this new thing?

I'd rather not be seen carrying it around for longer than is neccessary.

Once I reach my neighborhood, I slow down, and take a look around the corner.

I don't spot the doctor, but I can't be sure he's not gone...

back on topic, IS IT WORTH IT!? just How awesome will the 20 make it?
if the difference is going from 'explain yourself' to 'ok then', then it's not worth it.
However, if the difference is 'Serious Measures must be taken' to 'everything is fine, on your way then', Then it is worth the trade off.

(are the points the 'Digivolution pathway points' we discussed during the pre-quest system creation threads?)

Salamon pulls herself up, making herself appear even just a little taller.
Proudly, loudly, she declares,

"Puppy Howling!"

And then my ears began to hurt.

And from the look of the Doctor, his hurt even more.

He falls over, and Salamon sends me a look that just screams 'Praise me!'

I....I don't even know what to say about that.

Salamon just screamed someone into unconsciouness.

And here I thought my mother could be bad.

Mystified, I pat Sala on the head, and she beams at me. The little lion ting just stares at her in what looks like abject fear.

Unlocking the door, I wind my way around the Doctor, and head upstairs, feeling rather shellshocked.

Zoe's out of bed now, though she's still sitting on the bed itself, and she looks much better than she did a half an hour ago. She breathes a sigh of what seems like relief when she sees me, but then freezes when she sees the newcomer.

"....who is that?" She asks, her voice betraying her nervousness.

The little fuzzball leaps up onto her lap -somehow with just a tail and no legs- and smiles at her.

"You're Zoe?" She nods slowly. "I am Frimon! Your digimon Partner, here to protect you!"

"P-protect me from what?"

Frimon frowns, and looks a bit confused. "I'm not so sure myself, but it was bad enough for us to be sent here for you!" Salamon nods at this, looking at me with that happy little smile of hers. I'm not at all sure how to react to this. And neither is Zoe, it seems.

questions we want to ask;
- Where did you both come from?
- Why are you here, other than to protect us from an unknown danger?
- How did you turn from a slime into your current form Salamon?
- Why Zoe and Myself?
- Are there any more of you?

>>22816506
No, your digimon is almost ALL stomach. where'd the no stomach thing come from?
>>
>>22816465

we could always introduce it to the Digiworld... create the Digiworld Union. each Biome has it's own social hierarchy, and the leaders of each meet in a neutral location to discuss the various problems facing their respective biomes. they can arrange trades, offer aid or support to struggling biomes... it would also significantly improve the information flow within the Digiworld, meaning that if new evil forces begin to rise, the various biomes can plan and preform organised offensive/defensive actions against said evil forces.

i have too much time to think about such things...

as long as this thread is still up, it should be fine to continue here. i mean we haven't even breached 200 posts yet. If you want an example of long lasting quest threads, if memory serves, with Hobo Quest, we once had a thread lasting the best part of four days. and in that time there were nine quest updates.... HK is technically the most unreliable Quest Runner due to his consistent falling asleep due to alcohol and saying he'll make a new thread in an hour, then make it a week later...

so yeah, just continue on this thread untill you hit auto-sage (assuming the thread is still here)

>>
>>22817632

one would think that based on the available information, Wyane and Zoe would either decide that they are; A. dreaming, B. Tripping Balls, C. subject to some kind of elaborate prank, or D. at the center of some previously thought impossible intrigue.

i still think that the 'This is a dream, so no fucks will be given' is the most likely current mind-set of our hero. at least for the moment.

That's fantastic!
I've been reading through it since I missed the last parts here - Salamon is the best partner, it's good that we praised her.

Also, really thankful we haven't traded any points away, right now - the more we get, the better our digimon partner will be.

(I wonder how many points it takes to get Salamon to digivolve, though...)

Oh my god, it IS still here

Holy shit

Okay, so You didn't trade the points, which resulted in the doctor being knocked out, whereas he'd probably have forgotten the past hour or so if it had been the 20.

And yes, she is an *Excellent* Partner.

How many points? That's for me to know, and you to find out...
>>
>>22820952

if i recall correctly, the amount varies on several factors. These are;
- Level, going from In-training to rookie will cost less than going from Champion to Ultimate.
- Branch, we have a standard chain of Digivolving, but we can also unlock different branches for Salamon. The cost a branch is higher than the straight chain.
- Crests, Digimentals (Armor Digi-eggs), these lower the cost of their related branch of digivolution. For example, Gatomon (or Tailmon) digivolves to Angewomon. The cost of unlocking this digivolution can be reduced with the Crest of Light, Or Gatomon digivolving into Nefertimon will cost less if we have the Digimental (Armor Digi-egg) of Light.

also, i suggested this chain due to the shear quantity of awesome it pertains, and Gale said he'd rather not us have Agumon...
>>
>>22822503

though to be honest, i did suggest a slight varience on it, but it was decided that Digimon DO have genders, and that we'd rather not 'Mix it up' with their digivolutions...
>>
>>22822503
>>22822515

the "canon" evolution line as decided by the first two threads is Salamon->Witchmon-> Lady devimon.

However, once an evolution is unlocked, it stays unlocked, and you COULD potentially go back and spent a larger amount of points to get angewomon.

Then there's the fact that I've got evolution paths for Zoe's digimon, as well...
>>
>>22822592

Angewomon digivolution should still be cheaper if we have the Crest of Light though...
>>
>>22822611

>>
>>22822462
I really like that we've got a pic for how we've set it up, there.

>>22822592
This is the best part, yes.
We can unlock LadyDevimon, then go back and unlock, say, Rosemon, before we go back again and open up Minervamon, until we finally decide to head towards Lilithmon.

We've got an incredibly versatile partner, here.

Also...
Are we close to getting to Witchmon, by the way?
Like, halfway there, more/less?
Or would you prefer to keep that a secret as well?
>>
Yes, Gale is back!

"Well," I begin, sitting beside Zoe and looking at the two Digimon. "Now that we're all here, I think it's time we start with the questions. I have a lot of them, and I'm sure Zoe does too, and You both probably do as well. So we should get those out of the way first." It seems like everyone agrees, and so I decide to ask the first question.

"Where did the two of you come from? I know you," I nod to Sala, "Came from my computer, and you," now I indicate Frimon, "most likely came from Zoe's. But where are you from?"

They send each other a look, and Salamon answers.

"We came from a place called 'The Digital World.' Digiworld for short. It's where we Digimon live."

"And what does 'Digimon' stand for?" Zoe asks, curiosity outweighing her usual shyness.

"It means 'Digital Monster,'" Frimon explains, puffing up with pride. Whether over answering Zoe's question or for being a "Digimon," I can't tell. I move on to my next question.

"Well, why are you here? You said you were sent here. Someone or something had to do the sending, and there had to be a reason for it, right?"

Salamon shakes her head, little ears flopping around as she does so.

"I don't really know. The first thing I remember is popping out of the egg. I know what I am, and who I am, but other than that, nothing. I can't tell you, even though I want to."

"It's fine." I wave it off, and she seems to brighten up. "But there is one thing that bothers me..." She tilts her head questioningly, awaiting the next question. "How did you change from that..." I gesture, trying to get my point across. "..whatever you were, into what you are now? Why can you talk now?"

She smiles proudly. "I digivolved, of course!" She says this like it explains everything. It probably does, actually, but not that I can understand.

(cont'd)
>>
>>22826811
"You...what?" Zoe speaks up, looking as lost as I am. "Evolved? Evolution doesn't...work like that. Not in human science."

"But we're not human." Frimon points out, and I have to acknowledge that point. They're digital monsters. They can change shape, talk, and Salamon can yell someone to sleep. Of course they don't play by our logic and rules.

"Two more questions." I say, holding up two fingers for emphasis. "One: are there any more of you?" When they nod emphatically, I can't hold back a sigh. Of course there are. These two CAN'T be the only ones. That'd just make people easy. "Okay, and two: Why us?" They look confused, so I elaborate. "Why Zoe and me? Why us? I mean, whatever purpose whoever has in mind for us, aren't there better people they could choose?" Frimon just makes his equivalent of a shrug, and Salamon just gives me that sad look I've come to associate with "I don't know how to answer, don't be mad at me."

I sigh, and shake my head. "Nevermind. I'm sure it'll be answered at some point. What's important right now is making sure you," I look at Zoe, "Are alright and not hacking up both your lungs." She seems to shrink into herself, and nods.

"Thanks," She mutters, and I'm not exactly sure why she's so shy, when we've been friends since I moved here years ago.

Then I realize that for all their familiarity, we literally met Salamon and Frimon today, and Zoe's always been shy around people she just met.

So, what should I do now?

I just thought it'd be a good idea is all. Order Chinese and pizza.
>>
>>22829149
>Chinese

Do you want us to become homeless? We're feeding them only filling and nutritious curry.
>>
>>22829177
There should be some of that left, actually...

>>22829149
I'm sorry, I misread that at letting them order. As in, asking you to make things.

Which we all know would end up with you having no food left.
>>
>>22829245
I wouldn't want to have to feed 2 digimon at once.
I like having money, after all.
>>
>>22829657
We could, maybe, afford something like that for Salamon, but two at once seems way too much, yeah.

The food in the pantry wasn't free either. If we're gonna lose money I'd rather loose it in a way a mother or father couldn't see if they walked into the kitchen.

>Father and mother
Oho, there's something we have yet to touch upon...
>>
>>22830500

Why do I suddenly regret opening my mouth?
>>
>>22830547
because you know shit will go down now.

Tell ya what.

Roll a d2.

1) we continue as we have been.

2) I introduce a new cliffhanger and character at the same time.

Rolled 1

Whelp, here we go.
>>
Rolled 2

>>22831187
Heaven or hell, let's rock.
>>
>>22831231
That makes it much easier, thanks.

For one thing, I don't know if a thread this slow could take the sudden change.

don't want things to get too CUHRAZY yet, now do we?
>>
>>22831278
This whole thing is being saved on suptg, right?
>>
>>22831513
It is, actually.

"Well, I think now would be a good time for us all to get actually formally introduced." I say, standing up, and looking down at the two Digimon.

"My name is Wayne Rogers. This, is-" I'm about to introduce her, but Zoe speaks up on her own.

"Zoe. Zoe Waldgrave." Salamon nods, and chirps up herself.

"I'm Salamon! Formerly Puttimon, though I like my new self much better!" She smiles at me. "I have you to thank for that, Wayne."

Fuck. How is she that cute. I can't help but give her another pat on the head, and her smile grows even larger. Zoe looks between me and Salamon, then down at the littlz ball of fuzz that is Frimon.

"And you're my partner?" She asks quietly. Frimon gives her a big grin of his own. A grin she returns, tentatively.

"Now, I think you should have some questions of your own, yeah?" I ask, and I'm not at all surprised when both of them say "When can we eat?" at the same time.

With a short laugh, I stand back up, and go to grab that bag of food I brought with me. Lugging it back upstairs, I've already got a few more questions of my own.

Setting the bag down in front of the two little "monsters", I take a few minutes to think about what they've told me. I can accept nearly everything they've said. It all has that sort of "dream-like" quality that makes it difficult to refute, except for one thing.

This "Digivolution." What the hell is that supposed to be? They can change shape, apparently more than once, judging by what Salamon has said. The only way I'm going to get more information on this is to ask them, seeing as I'm lacking any other sources of information at the moment.
>>
>>22831784

"Salamon, Frimon." I begin, and they look up from where they're stuffing themselves with those sandwiches. "This Digivolution...can you tell me anything else about it?" Salamon looks thoughtful, while Frimon just stares at me blankly. Either I'm not getting anything out of him myself, or he doesn't know anything. Salamon does reply, however.

"It's when a Digimon changes from one form to a stronger one." She says, sounding rather sure of herself.

"By stronger, you mean..." I think back to what she did outside. There's no way that was normal.

"Yes, like that." She nods. "I couldn't have done that as I was before. And there are probably things I can't do now that I will be able to when I get stronger!" She sounds hopeful, and anxious, like she's looking forward to this, to getting "Stronger".

That she even needs to be stronger worries me. What sort of situation or life would require something like Sala to have powers like she does?

Zoe sees my unease, and places one of her slender hands on my shoulder. I'm not sure if it helps, but the sentiment is appreciated.

(you guys have been doing pretty well on your own so far. I might stop giving options until major crossroads.)
>>
>>22831810
firstly we will need to do some thing about the good doctor he is probably going to keep bothering us until he get a proper answer.
>>
>>22831810

"so. What exactly makes you able to 'Digivolve', apart from copious amounts of food?"

"How are you feeling now Zoe?"

i think that if Zoe is up for it, we should take her back to her house... not only would it give the damned doctor the slip, but also circumvent the huge misunderstanding that would occur if our parents returned and Zoe was in our bed...
>>
>>22831810
i suggest do something about the doctor, get him off our back without resorting on knocking him out all the time.
>>
>>22831810
"So you guys said you're 'digital monsters' does this mean that you can get viruses, or that you can somehow 'talk' with computers?"

I don't actually remember if this is a thing, but it doesn't hurt to ask,
>>
>>22832032
seems like the best choice

Unfortunately, I'll have to cut this short for this week. I'm glad we could take this thread longer than the other two, though.

This quest is shaping up pretty well, though. I'm glad you guys like it so much.
>>
>>22832761

an enjoyable session. see you next week then Gale.

My only regret is that I take so long to post.
