Rolled 12, 12 = 24

Archive of Part 1: http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/22819904/

When you want to do something, say who it is you refer to, then roll 2d20. First d20 determines priority of action if there's a direct conflict (I try to let every action go through if possible, as long as they aren't directly killing the guys or something stupid/not fun). If you don't elaborate on who does what, I just pick someone at random (like, with a die and everything).

Here's a rundown of our current party, along with notable things we picked up on in the last chapter;
>Sebastiano Berruti - Scum - Autogun/Autopistol. Thinks himself a ladies man. Isn't. Also, he is temporarily blind in one eye, and probably permanently blind in the other.
>Hadrak Abajian - Techpriest - Lasgun/Mechandrites. Kleptomaniac, particularly keeps on stealing Sebastiano's autopistol.
>Kirstin Fritzen - Guardsman - Lasgun/Grenades. Got shot in the neck by a lasbolt, bled heavily, but currently is stable, if unconcious. Also, the only one who could seduce worth a damn, which brings me to...
>Nora Hinfalliger - Arbitrator - Pump Shotgun/Revolver. Not originally with the party. Attractive, so everyone hits on her. Only Kirstin succeeds, so looks like she's here to stay.
>Berold Schuster - Assassin - Longlas/Silenced Pistol. Supposedly competent enough, although hasn't really gotten to display it yet. Shy. Can't hold his groxmeat.

Last time, the party went down planetside, after some difficulty got a hold of the package they're meant to be the couriers of, then because of a gambit find themselves in front of the enforcer captain (Nora's boss) trying to hold on once more to what they need to take away, his two bodyguards, and the bleeding and presumably dead pilot of the lander they rode in on. The captain has the box open and is staring at the contents with a greedy look in his eye.

What shall they do?
>>

>Nora is now an official party member
Fuck yeah.

Nora rolls to yell for the captain to get a grip on himself.
>>
Rolled 11, 6 = 17

rollin for the group to start blasting at the capitain
>>
>>22837096
Nora quickly recovers and yells at the man who used to be her boss to get a grip. It's enough to get him to tear his gaze away, but he's still holding the box tight as the lid falls shut, and stays silent.

>>22837100
Meanwhile, Hadrak gently lowers Kirstin's unconcious body to the ground before grabbing his lasgun and readying it alongside Berold. The captain's bodyguard raise their guns warningly.

Sebastiano is unable to see any of this, and looks around blindly in confusion, asking occasionally "Wot's goin' on where's deh blightas?"
>>
Rolled 14, 8 = 22

>>22837215
Nora asks the captain what is inside the box that he feels is so important. Perhaps saying it aloud will make him realize his HERESY?
>>
>>22837251
"Come on sir, what could be in there that's so important to us that we want to keep it from the Inquisition?"

The captain looks up, but the gleam comes back across his eyes. Hadrak and Berold shoulder their weapons, but refrain from firing.

"This... this is everything. I wouldn't expect you to understand. The medallion calls to those who deserve its rewards, and I can feel the yearning. No, they do not deserve it. I deserve it. I DO!" He spits out the last two words with a yell, backs up and draws a pistol (the box being held by a handle in his left hand), aiming it at Nora, and holding it there.

"Now, acolytes, drop your weapons, board that shuttle and leave us be, before you force my hand and get yourselves involved in something you're not equipped to fend off." His bodyguards look at him, and he gives them a nod. They bring up their weapons too, pointing them at Berold and Hadrak.

The acolytes are about 10 metres away from the captain and his guards. The shuttle is 20 metres away, to their right.

Hadrak covertly forwards the entire conversation, which he has secretly been recording, to his superior with a message asking how to proceed.

>>22837469
Nora could roll to reason with (read:distract) the captain by asking him how he intends to get away with the medallion once the Inquisition realize they aren't getting anything.

Am I allowed to roll multiple times for different characters?
>>
Rolled 20, 7 = 27

>>22837490
i like that idea using hadark's superior cognitive ability
>>
>>22837428
Hadrak records the conversation, but unfortunately his techpriest personal vox is the short-range variety, so while he can present it as evidence to the acolyte overseeing them, right now they're on their own.

>>22837490 (If you *really* want to, although if things pick up speed might want to avoid that. If anything, just list both actions in the same post and roll a single d20 for both of them, or 4d20 or something)
>>22837520
Nora puts up her hands in a placating gesture, and tries to tell the captain that "You could never get away with this. This is the inquisition, boss. They always get their man"

Hadrak adds "She's right. Logically, the best step to prolong your survival for the maximum duration would be to give the box to us. Peacefully."

The captain doesn't look convinced, and Nora realizes it. She subtly turns to Berold and gives a small nod.

>>22837469
Berold almost instantly readjusts his aim and shoots the box. He's a little bit off (it's a tough shot despite the short range, or maybe because of it), and glances the captain's hand. The metal handle breaks, and the box falls to the ground. Luckily enough it doesn't open up, the lid latched firmly shut, if not locked.

The pain is enough to throw off the captain's aim with his other hand, and his reaction shot goes barely wide, giving Nora a bit of a trim on her right side. The two guards open fire with their lasguns, but the shock of the shot means that Berold and Hadrak, being prepared for it, manage to jump out of the way.

Sebastiano, meanwhile, is terrified out of his mind and dives for the ground, mostly useless for this fight due to blindness.

>>
Rolled 19, 15 = 34

>>22837581
Hadrak attempts to steal all the bodyguards weapons
>>
>>22837652
Hadrak protectively steps in front of Nora, and takes a few lasbolts to the chest for his trouble. Nothing his servoharness can't handle, although something's leaking down there and he's not sure if it's blood or machine fluid.

He begins to fire, and hits one of the bodyguards once, the shot mostly being absorbed by the armour. He only hits once because despite his litanies, his lasgun somehow manages to overheat, and the charge pack dumps the spare power to prevent itself from melting. He pushes Nora behind him with a mechandrite and reloads.

>>22837679
Meanwhile, Berold shoots the other bodyguard, and a single well-placed shot to the head from his longlas ensures that he won't ever be getting up. He falls to the ground, his helmet containing a charred nasty mess. The other guard stops firing for a second upon seeing this, then begins to swing around to aim at Berold. The captain is jolted from the pain by the sight of that, and quickly adjusts the grip on his pistol, and begins to run away, firing a few shots off behind him, which mostly impact harmlessly on the tarmac, although one comes dangerously close to the unconcious Kirstin.

>>22837747
Hadrak reaches with a spare mechandrite to grab Sebastiano's autopistol again, but despite his blindness Sebastiano has none of this, grabs the pistol back and begins to spray bullets randomly around. Luckily or unluckily, they fail to connect with anyone, ally or foe.
>>
>>22837760
HOWEVER Hadrak reaches out with his 3rd (and final) mechandrite and grabs at the lasgun of the bodyguard aiming for Berold, and wrenches it from his grasp. The bodyguard reaches for his back holster for what is presumably a pistol.
>>

>>22837762
>>22837783
Kristin miraculously awakens from reflex upon hearing gunfire and shoots the remaining bodyguard.

Hazy guardsman just-woke-up-ow-my-head logic is: I'm not dead, therefore anyone right beside me is my ally. However, there is gunfire, therefore my allies are fighting an enemy. Therefore, shoot anyone not right beside me.
>>
Rolled 7, 2, 8, 14 = 31

Nora drags Kristin to cover

kisses her to wake her up (hey gotta love princess charming)
>>
>>22837816
Kirstin's eyes flicker open, but for the moment she's not strong or awake enough to lift one of her grenades, let alone her lasgun. She's vaguely aware of some kind of fighting going on, and can see someone running away with a box. But the acolytes have a box too? Her head hurts and her neck feels numbish, and there doesn't seem to be much blood pumping through her veins.
>>
Rolled 11, 5, 4, 13 = 33

>>22837847
Meanwhile, everyone else keeps firing, mostly at the captain.

Hadrak's free mechadendrites roll to restrain the guard.
>>
>>22837846
Nora drags the now-somewhat-awake Kirstin to behind the landing shuttle, next to the very-much-dead pilot, taking one of the captain's wild pistol shots to the side of her gut as she does so. She leans down, gently shaking the barely conscious guardsman, trying to bring her back, hesistates, then kisses her.

It works, and Kirstin jolts up as she pulls away, although immediately leans back down grunting in pain.

>>22837870
Berold takes a shot at the captain, but completely whiffs. Hadrak meanwhile directs all three of his mechandrites to grasping the last bodyguard tight, transferring the lasgun to his own hands, and opening fire. He also misses, however. By this point the captain's given up on shooting back, and has dropped the pistol on the tarmac. In his rush, he left the box on the ground, and even stops for a second to consider running back and getting it.

Survival instinct overtakes whatever grip the box had on him, for the moment, and he keeps on running. Still well within range, but he's getting away, and won't be in a minute or two.
>>
Rolled 15, 10 = 25

Berold shoots the captain down

Captcha: joining Tendari i guess he's joining a death cult now?
>>
Rolled 14, 20 = 34

>>22837913
Berold snipes the captain.
>>
>>22837940
>>22837944
Berold takes a breath, then holds it. And then he fires. The shot is clean, and pierces a slightly-smoking hole directly through the back (then front) of the captain's head. He tumbles to the ground like a ragdoll, and Nora looks up just in time to see the man she worked under for years hit the ground. She blinks a few times, but doesn't shed a tear. It was necessary, if undesirable.

With the obvious threats gone, Hadrak now has one of the enforcers in his grip, and Berold picks up Sebastiano and guides him over. They all join up with Nora and Kirstin behind the shuttle.

"What do we do with this one?" Berold inquires of no one in particular. Either no one saw what Nora did with Kirstin, or no one cares for the moment.
>>
Rolled 13, 20 = 33

>>22837968
Ask him if he's seen what's in the box, and what the erstwhile captain told him.
>>
>>22837980
dat 20
>>
>>22837980
Hadrak slams him against the shuttle, and Berold puts his pistol up to the man's throat. "Have you seen what's in there? What did the captain tell you? Why did he see fit to take what is ours?"

This quite intimidates the enforcer, who, through yelps of pain and fear, stutters that no, he hasn't seen what's in the box, and judging from what the guys say anything could be in there, from a crown to a helmet to a dagger to a coin. He then cries for them to let him go and that he won't tell anyone, just let him leave.

Sebastiano yells something about blodgin' the blightin' mingeweffal 'til his brains are like 'is oats, but Nora gives him a stern look and he quiets down.

Tell him that if he surrenders now, he will receive fair trial. If he is telling the truth now, and further continues to cooperate with the ensuing investigation, he will likely receive a less harsh sentence. He already has on his side that he didn't fully understand what he was doing. Tell him not to do anything stupid.

Nora knows his name, and will submit it in the future. Meanwhile, everyone still has a job to complete. Get to it.

Hadrak satisfied takes stock of everyone's injuries

Then steals the autopistol
>>
>>22838076
Nora tells him that she'll put in word for him, and if he surrenders he should get a probably lighter sentence. He sputters out a thank you, and Berold handcuffs him with his own manacles, taking the key. Nora calls in a squad for arrest, reminds the bodyguard to testify honestly, then gets the box and brings it back to the acolytes.

>>22838155
There aren't many people around, and the guard doesn't seem to know much about the area.

However, Hadrak, having applied pressure to his wound (it turns out it was blood, not machine fluid), says that he can pilot them back to the cruiser, and proceeds to get into the front seat of the (now groxmeat-free) shuttle, and turn on the controls.
>>22838159
Attempting (and failing) to nick the autopistol on his way in.

Looking around as the others board the craft, he sees that while everyone aside from Berold has taken a hit somewhere, the only ones in serious danger are Kirstin and Sebastiano. Berold gets on, and straps in the blind Sebastiano, while Nora helps Kirstin get buckled in. She stays on.

"Is it alright if I come with you? It could count as self-defense, but I still aided in the killing of two enforcers. I know my testimony is probably important, but it's not like I'm the only one who saw what that thing does to people." She forces a weak smile "And besides, now that my ties are severed I have the perfect excuse to go out and see the galaxy. Like I always wanted." She stands while the rest are strapped in and awaits a response.
>>
>>22838219
Everyone accepts Nora into the fold.

>>22838219

Hadrak rolls to be a caring individual with empathy and understanding as he informs nora he is quite happy to have her along.
>>
>>22838341
>>22838447
Sebastiano pulls a toothy grin and nods at empty space.
Berold shrugs and nods as well
Hadrak says "You're welcome to accompany us, of course." and manages to pull a smile that seems genuine enough.
Kirstin is tired, very tired, but smiles at Nora with a very happy smile and pats the seat next to her, where Hadrak had been sitting on the way down. Nora sits down and straps in, before Hadrak closes up the back door and the shuttle takes off, leaving the guard to be apprehended by his coworkers, and hopefully tried properly.

>>22838381
Sebastiano, still completely oblivious to the signals (can't fault him, he's blind after all) tries to make a big deal of his blindness now. "Hey Nora now ye know I fancy yeh for wot's on tha inside eh? Canno' see the outside eh? Why don't ye join me when we ge' back up, we can have a li-" at this point, luckily for Nora the engines become deafening, and she doesn't hear any more of what he has to say.

Did anyone actually grab the box...?
>>
>>22838491
Looks like there are shenanigans in the cards! But not for now.

The shuttle makes it back to the cruiser without incident, and there's already some menials waiting to take the wounded away. Sebastiano and Kirstin are wheeled off to the medbay, and Nora quickly follows, leaving Hadrak and Berold alone with the acolyte prime (the one handing out the jobs).

"Schuster. Abajian. Do you have the box? And who was that? What happened to the pilot? What's wrong with Fritzen and Berruti?"
>>

Hadrak brings in the box, while welding it shut.
>>
>>22838508
(rewind spacetime) Berold mumbles something about how the pilot's groxmeat will be remembered, on the ride up.

>>22838523 Yeah Nora grabbed it and put it in the shuttle.

>>22838549
Hadrak grabs a lascutter from the shuttle, and begins to weld the box shut. The acolyte prime stops him though, produces an electronic lock and places it over the latch instead.

"We're aware there might be something dangerous in there, but all the same we'd like it to be accessible if needs be."
>>
Rolled 16, 16 = 32

>>22838524
Pilot died going beyond the call of duty; captain went rogue after getting a look at what's inside the box (which is here - don't open it); Fritzen and Berruti were wounded taking down the captain; Nora aided us in that, and is joining us for the time being.

hadrak tells him in an emotionaless voice what happens (has he picked up on the fact that Nora and kirstin are an item?)
>>
>>22838579
Suspect the box to contain heretical contents that tempt whoever looks directly at it and drive them to insanity. Captain specifically spoke of voices in his head. Proximity does not seem to be a factor. Suggest remote probing, with no visual element.

DON'T OPEN THAT BOX. IT'S LIKE SUCCUBUS! DON'T DO IT, NIGGA!
>>
>>22838597
Doubt that's relevant information pertaining to the mission even if he did.
>>
>>22838597
Telling the story is pretty easy to do, so I'll take that roll as being for him picking up on it. So yes, he has picked up on it, and finds the idea of a relationship where procreation (the main logical purpose of a relationship) is impossible quite absurd. No objections though.

>>22838579
Berold, with Hadrak occasionally filling in points, recounts what happened, and emphasizes that opening the box could be dangerous. The acolyte prime (for what it's worth his surname's Vasil) thinks on it for a moment.

"Alright. She can come with us, as long as she does not interfere, and submits to profiling. If that's all, I can tell the navigator that we're ready for warp jump. Your time is your's, for the moment. We'll come out of our jump in a week as a stopover, until then occupy yourselves."

He walks (well, more like marches) away, leaving Hadrak and Berold alone in the bay. A few servitors pack up crates, but they're pretty irrelevant.

Meanwhile, Sebastiano, Kirstin and Nora have reached the medbay, and Kirstin's wounds have begun to be bandaged. One of Sebastiano's eyes is better now, but the other one was torn apart. It's still there, but permanently blind, and he's currently trying to sweet talk one of the orderlies, with little success. Nora sits by Kirstin's bedside, the latter having fallen asleep again.

>>22838909
Maybe he could just force an eye into him. That might work too. Hadrak goes off to his quarters to brood on this.

>>22838872
The pilot regains consciousness in a dark room under a bright light. They didn't even bother learning his name. Something's stuck into his arm, a tube pumping something into his blood. His good nature is fading away, replaced by a raw chemical anger.

Out in the street somewhere a medical van and several enforcer vehicles are lying wrecked and smouldering. Corpses of the city's protectors lie everywhere, shrapnel, lasbolts and bullets having made their way through the weakpoints in their armour, killing them. Another team of enforcers counts the dead. Everyone who was at the tarmac is accounted for, a corpse in the record book, except for one. Someone who was shot down by the enforcers, then carried away barely alive.

They didn't learn his name, he carried them down, he made their job possible and they didn't even extend that respect to him... the anger grows stronger, and a pierced and tattooed face leans over to block the spotlight from his eyes.

"You're angry, aren't you?"

>>22839139
Kirstin awakes feeling significantly better, more blood flowing through her veins, and finds herself alone with the peacefully slumbering Nora in a chair next to her bed. She smiles, and places her hand on Nora's. Not quite good enough to get back to the fighting, but fighting isn't on the top of her priorities right now...

>>22839184
Berold isn't so lucky. He sits in the cantine, and joins some of the ship's garrison. He makes conversation, but it's pretty awkward, and eventually devolves into eating in silence.

... on the subject of eating, dinnertime for me, be back in 30 or so.
>>
>>22839217
Alright and we're back.

Over the course of the next week, Sebastiano walks around with a new swagger in his step. Doesn't manage to repeat his feat in the MRI room but can't stop talking about it. The orderly has no comment on the matter.

Hadrak works on Sebastiano's new eye, and shortly before the ship pops out of the warp, he manages to finish it. It's a well-crafted masterpiece. He couldn't find a recreation of the colour of a natural eye, and can't understand why one would want that anyway, so instead it is a brassy colour with a light turquoise iris. Now just to get it in his head and ready without him knowing...

Berold spends the week brushing up on his marksmanship alone, moreso than the rest of the acolytes, but makes a point of taking time out of his day to talk with them and the other crew members of the ship, becoming better at talking to people, looking them in the eye, and so on.

Kirstin recovers well from her wounds. The lasbolt will leave a permanent scar on her neck from the burn, but she's going to be alright, and Nora doesn't really seem to mind. She spends most of her day by her bedside, talking about their pasts on different homeworlds in different careers. Two days before the ship exits the warp, Kirstin feels strong enough to walk again, and while a bit unsteady she's back to hitting her targets alongside Berold at the firing range before the ship drops out of the warp.

And then it does. "Welcome back to realspace acolytes, Ms. Hinfalliger. We're next to a fellow cruiser under Inquisitor Karras, The Patriarch of Vengeance. We're just dropping off some cargo with them before they jump away, but we'll be grounded in reality for the next few days before carrying on. We don't detect any other ships around, but be ready just in case. Pirates or worse always appear at the worst of moments."

For the next day or so, what do the acolytes do?

Most of the crew seems pretty lax about security and combat drilling. They're going to pay for it.

A few hours after The Patriarch of Vengeance jumps away, 2 cruisers, unmarked, enter range and open up. The crew man the weapons and fire back, managing to cripple the weapons systems on one of the ships, but the real objective was boarding.

The box is locked away in one of the cargo bays, alongside many, many other unmarked crates.

The acolytes rush to one of the main areas that was hit. The ship vibrates violently as something makes impact with the hull, and they see the telltale glowing and sparks of a meltacutter coming through. A few more seconds and the unwelcome guests will arrive.

Kirstin takes one of her grenades and makes a makeshift tripwire in front of where they'll be coming out. Unfortunately she also rips out the pin by accident, and everyone dives out of the way as shrapnel flies. Sebastiano is a bit late, and a bit of the stuff catches him in the leg. He swears profusely, but they're almost done cutting through the bulkhead.

>>22839697
Hadrak whispers a prayer for the ship to aid them. At that moment, an explosion is heard from the other side of the bulkhead, and the glowing sparks of the meltacutter cease, and heavy swearing is again heard, this time from the other side. They must have hit a fuel tank or electrical cable or something.

The lights go out, and red safety backups come on instead. Definitely a cable. The meltacutter resumes, and the hull blasts open.

On the other side is what looks like a small boarding craft, and 8 men in flak armour, with face concealing masks with skulls, scars, stitches, whatever painted on them. Two of them lie dead or stunned from the electricity, but the rest push on.

An opening response volley takes down 3 of the buggers, before the acolytes take cover behind piping, scrap or crates, whatever's available.

The blast obliterates four of them, and the last one is shoved by the force of the explosion, knocking his head against a pipe in the wall in front of him. He falls to the ground, dead or unconcious.

While within eyeshot no boarders are seen, explosions and gunfire can be heard from levels both above and below. Over the vox of one of the invaders, someone's heard yelling "Get to the cargo bay!"

Sebastiano, Berold and Hadrak put many many lasbolts and bullets into the unconcious assailant's head, until he doesn't have one.

At this point another explosion rocks the ship, and the gravity generators deactivate. A second later, the safety lights go out, and judging by the pitch blackness, this is true for everywhere on this level, and possibly for the entire ship. If it's the entire ship, that's bad, as no more air is being pumped or recycled.

>>22839972
Before he loses connection entirely, Hadrak tries to pull up a route to the cargo bay from the ship's machine spirit. Unfortunately before he can plot the most efficient route, the power's out. He knows how to get there, but it's probably not as fast as it could be.

He also yells at Sebastiano that the wound will probably get infected. "The logical course of action is to get a superior leg. Additionally, that eye I wanted for you would make you superior". Sebastiano has other things on his mind, but deep down he really does think a cybernetic leg could do things for him...

>>22840007
Despite the lack of gravity, the acolytes gracefully manage to make their way to the cargo bay in record time, jumping through abandoned elevator shafts and avoiding firefights between the onboard combat servitors and enemy invaders as much as possible. They get to the cargo bay to find that a man in full power armour (not big enough to be a space marine) is there alongside four lackeys wearing proper boarding armour (air supplies, rebreathers, void suit, about as strong as storm trooper carapace armour, all that jazz, along with mag-boots to stick to the floor). They don't seem to have noticed them yet however, and the crates floating around provide ample hiding spots. The lackeys are floating around, breaking open the wooden crates with crowbars to see the contents, and using lascutters to crack the metal ones. A sizeable proportion of the crates have already been searched. Not even the acolytes know which crate is the real one.

>>22840052

Along the way, Hadrak suggests that they might as well get rid of the old fleshy leg now. Sebastiano has none of it, and makes a point of putting Berold between the two of them until they get to the cargo bay.

Everyone sneaks up. The lackeys are pretty spread out, so each acolyte gets ready to take one of them on, with Sebastiano preparing himself behind one of the upper shelves.

They all open fire on Hadrak's vox signal, bracing themselves against a crate then taking advantage of the element of surprise. Having time to aim means weak points can be found, and air tanks, gaps in the armour or visors are all exploited to rapidly kill the four lackeys. The man in power armour swings around to see these five acolytes floating above him, swears, and begins to run over to where a flamer hovers next to a shelf.

Sebastiano bursts out from behind the shelf and grabs the flamer, screaming "SURPRISED YER YIPTINGE!" before colliding painfully with the man, still holding onto the flamer and bouncing away.

However, Hadrak realizes the importance of this, and, whispering for forgiveness, pumps as much energy as he safely can into the shot after. That one strikes true, straight in the chest, and he goes flying back into another shelf. The chestplate is burned by the shot, but he's still moving, relatively strongly.

>>22840339
Hadrak takes the opportunity of this break in the action to yell out "What is it that you want to do with that box anyway? Who are you?"

He simply replies as he pulls himself up; "I am merely a man with a vested interest in you not getting that box where it's headed." He pulls out a heavy stubber from the wreckage of crates beside him. "And if you hand it over peacefully I might even let you and all your friends live. It would be a shame to.. to..."

At this point, he and everyone else realizes something.

Nora grabs one of the grenades at random from Kirstin's belt, and throws it. It bounces off the ground, and due to zero gravity flies above the screaming armoured beast, obliterating a nearby crate instead. Bottles inside shatter and fine wine begins to spread around the room.

>>22840439
Sebastiano decides to coat the box in flames, to discourage people from picking it up. He also has no idea how to use a flamethrower, so the fact that it jams on him shouldn't be a surprise. The promethium tank pops out and sprays in his face, covering him in flammable liquid before he tosses away the weapon.

>>22840453
Nora, still spinning out, pushes off a heavy crate and gets close enough to take a shot at the pirate's hand from EXTREMELY close range as he reaches for the box. Close enough that the power armour doesn't completely stop the buckshot. He swings his arm and slams her against the shelves behind him, but he fumbles the box and it begins to float around.

Now very frustrated, the pirate yells into his vox for reinforcements, and pulls an incendiary grenade from his belt, along with a large bulky looking autopistol. (Cont'd)

Blood spurts out and mixes with the fine wines and promethium floating around, and after a few more shuddering breaths he is no more. >>22840760
He hops into a fighter craft, allowing the rest of them to take one of the landers. Now just to get those doors open...
>>
Rolled 20, 3 = 23

>>22840781
Hadrak starts up the fighter craft, aims for the doors and opens fire.
>>
Rolled 2, 18 = 20

singing praises of the Omnissiah across in binary he begs and cajoles the doors to open not wanting to hurt the noble craft further
>>
>>22840810
hadrak mind you
>>
Rolled 19, 13 = 32

>>22840805

You idiot, first off not everyone is in anything yet, next that is void out there.

He uses the fightercraft's engine to power the doors.
>>
>>22840824
>not everyone is in anything yet
But they are!

You're right, Hadrak wouldn't want to hurt the poor machine spirit further...
Like it matters. It's gonna get blown to pieces anyway
>>
Everyone climbs into their ships and battens down the hatches. Sebastiano figures he could try his hand at piloting and starts up the dropship. Luckily enough it's mostly controlled by the machine spirit inside.

>>22840805
This blast dents the doors, and maybe there's a little hole now, but hardly big enough for a craft to fit through. Hadrak swears and prays to the machine spirit for a more powerful shot as the next missile's loaded into the tube.

>>22840810
>>22840824
He changes his mind, realizing that taking another shot would be an insult to this ship that could sacrifice itself so valiantly for them. He prays and prays, and remote interfaces with one of the terminals. Miraculously, something gave it a jolt of power, which allows the doors to slide open *just* long enough for both craft to fit through! Hadrak flies out first then circles around to wait for the dropship.

From the outside it doesn't look pretty, and explosions in the hull from ship-to-ship bombardment are beginning once more while escape pod after escape pod tries to leave, many being shot down immediately.
>>
Rolled 8, 16 = 24

>>22840844

I guess I missed that. damn it its hard to play dwarf fort and follow this.

>>22840854

Sebastiano seduces the machine spirit.
>>
>>22840862

By seduce though I don't really mean sexually, I mean he is just trying to get the thing to work for him.
>>
Rolled 2, 17 = 19

>>22840854
Hadrak uses the sensors to scan for any nearby planet, moon or asteroid as a hiding place.

If there's nothing but void, we might have to hide in the following wreckage or enter / get taken prisoner by the pirate ship.
>>
>>22840876
naw he's becoming more machine than man i mean he's gonna get his leg replaced
>>
Rolled 16, 12 = 28

>>22840886
And soon thereafter he will get his "leg" replaced.
>>
>>22840862
Sebastiano inputs a few suggestive phrases, promising "favours" and "oiling" as long as this "old girl" gets them out of the "explosion" in time.

Oddly enough, this works. With a satisfied smirk as the ship maneuvers out of the bay, he looks back and says "Knew I shoulda beena techie, got'a nack fer the stuff"

>>22840876
Too bad I had already typed it.

>>22840880
Throughout the area, the nearest other obstacle is an asteroid field a few kilometers (not very far in space-terms) away. Easy hiding, and not too hard for smaller ships to maneuver safely through. Additionally a gas giant is a bit further, which may have a mining platform (supplies, maybe even people), but to get there they'd either have to take a long detour or go right past the attacking ship.
>>
Rolled 13, 5 = 18

>>22840897
and the machine spirt of the ship will be in the leg
>>
Rolled 18, 18 = 36

>>22840908

Heading for the asteroid field they wait to see that they aren't being followed.
>>
Rolled 6, 14 = 20

>>22840913
hey op does the ship have clamps to clamp on to astroids?
>>
Rolled 6, 2 = 8

>>22840908
They start to mine so that the enemy will cofuse them for some regular miners also they might get some cash out of this.
>>
>>22840921
Both ships land on the same asteroid, and wait tensely. No fighters seem to follow them, but with a heavy heart a few minutes later they see their old ship become obliterated. The engines blew out, and took the rest of the ship with it.

However, they're still alive, that's something. Inside the fighter ship and drop ship are voidsuits that could enable survival outside, always useful. The port-zero-grav generators aboard the drop ship activate, and Hadrak temporarily leaves his fighter to join up in this moment of relative peace.

After this last set of actions/celebration/whatever I'm out, and we'll be back thursday, 9AM GMT again!
>>
Rolled 10, 2 = 12

>>22840908
Berold attempts some light conversation with both girls in the back of the lander.
>>
Rolled 7, 13 = 20

>>22840955
he really is not ment for talking at all

rollin for Sebastiano to hit on Nora and Kristin again offering whats left of the wine and 2 iho sticks
>>
Rolled 12, 17 = 29

Rolling to see if Hadrak takes notice of what Sebatiano tried to do to the machine spirit.
Some scolding might be in order.
>>
>>22840954
Thursday? Why not Tuesday? Are you busy?
>>
Rolled 13, 14 = 27

>>22840954
They start contacting the inquisitor.
>>
>>22840930
The ships clamped onto the asteroid successfully, yes.

>>22840953
They look around, but cannot find any mining tools around the dropship, unfortunately.

>>22840955
Berold tries to talk with Kirstin and Nora, but they seem disinterested with him and eventually he goes to join Hadrak and Sebastiano in the cockpit.

Kirstin takes this opportunity to pour out one of the bottles of wine she took from the ship. Explosive trauma, running and plastic cups from the dropship don't help the taste of what might have been a fine wine, but for this moment together, it's alright.

>>22840982
Sebastiano joins them just before they get more intimate than a long hug however. He still hasn't caught on, and finally realizes that he's just carrying a broken bottle. Still, he offers his two lho-sticks to the girls, and eventually Kirstin silently convinces Nora to let him join them. He's actually not so bad when he's not commenting on their secondary sexual characteristics.

>>22840991
Hadrak, now alone with Berold in the front takes a look at the ships logs. With no small amount of disgust he finds what Sebastiano did. He'll give him a talking to later though. Berold despondently offers the techpriest a few lho-sticks, and to his surprise Hadrak gracefully accepts, pretty much the only social action Berold has carried out today that ended favourably. With a soft smile they smoke together, lying back in the pilot and copilot's chairs, theorizing about what to do next.
>>22841019
"Contacting the Inquisitor seems logical enough."
"I suppose so, Berold. Need a light?"

And so ends chapter 2!

>>22841009
Yeah I'm crazy busy tomorrow and the day after, sorry bout all that. Someone's shoving this in the archives apparently though and I *will* finish this. I don't like leaving things partway done :)

Again, thanks for the fun /tg/, I hope you enjoyed reading/participating as much as I enjoyed questing it! See you on Thursday, 9AM GMT!
>>
>>22841046
Archive, for what it's worth: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/22836946/
>>
>>22841046
Enjoyed it greatly, OP. I'll try and be there next time as well.

Also this ending was gorgeuos (fuck spelling). Feels good that Berold seems to be making at least one friend.
>>
>>22841065
